WM – Chapter 87: Takatsuki Makoto learns about the dark and light of Highland

““Eh?””

Nina-san and I let out a dumbfounded voice.

“R-Rebellion?” “What do you mean by that, Danna-sama?!”

“Quiet. I will explain.” (Fuji)

According to Fuji-yan, he read the mind of the shopkeeper and learned that a large scale plan to rebel against the nobles in Symphonia would happen soon.

The reason being the severe hierarchical system’s discontent in Highland.

“But the hierarchical system in Highland is slowly being relieved! Especially Princess Noel who is next to the throne, she is on the side against the current hierarchy system. Why this timing?!” (Nina)

Nina-san is flustered.

“I know that too. Honestly, I find it hard to understand why at this time…” (Fuji)

Fuji-yan seems to be confused too.

“Fuji-yan, why is the Sun Country so fuzzy about the hierarchy?” (Makoto)

“Fumu, it has to do with the dark ages 1,000 years ago…” (Fuji)

History that the Water Temple didn’t teach me.

In that dark era when the Great Demon Lord ruled, the ones who received the worse treatment by the demons were the humans.

Humans are weak.

They have the Divine Protection of the Holy Gods now, so the ones who are prospering the most in the continent are now the humans though.

 Beastkin, elves, and dwarves are strong even without Divine Protection.

That’s why there were many of them who managed to escape from the rule of the demons.

But the humans received ruling of the demons the heaviest.

As a result, humans were treated as the slaves of the demons, and created the warped result that are the devilkin.

And then, the Savior Abel appeared.

This continent was saved by the human Hero.

The country that the Light Hero founded became the supreme power of the continent.

From there, the ruling from the humans to other races began.

…In other words, the bullied gained power, and they are getting back at them.

History repeats.

The demi-humans who are being discriminated against are trying to fight back.

But even if I am told about a rebellion, it just doesn’t click.

It is basically like a ‘war’, right…?

This place is the strongest city of the continent.

Who knows how many casualties it will cause.

By the way, there’s something that bothered me.

“Now that I think about it, Fuji-yan, you told Nina-san about your Mind Reading Skill, huh.” (Makoto)

“Yeah, I didn’t want to hide it from my wife after all. I told Nina-dono and Chris-dono.” (Fuji)

I see.

I glanced at Nina-san, and her long ears were loose and twitching up and down.

“At that time when Danna-sama told me about his Mind Reading Skill, I felt like my heart would stop.” (Nina)

“That much?” (Fuji)

“It is a legendary Skill that the founder of the Frantz Company’s president had, you know. Chris fell on her butt when she heard that.” (Nina)

Nina-san giggled.

That’s a relief. Looks like his two wives accepted the Skill of Fuji-yan.

The air relaxed a bit there, but Fuji-yan soon made a serious expression.

“Returning to the topic. Teogir-dono is a diligent person. The fact that he is tragically participating in this rebellion means that this is by no means a situation we can look at positively. There must be a reason.” (Fuji)

“Fuji-yan, wouldn’t it be better to tell Sakurai-kun and Princess Noel?” (Makoto)

I honestly feel like this matter is too much for us.

“Yeah. But we can’t tell them something half-assed. First we will consult with Princess Sofia via Chris-dono, and we will gather information from the merchants of the capital.” (Fuji)

“Danna-sama, if it is a large scale rebellion, the acquisition of weapons is essential. Let’s investigate the weapon merchants.” (Nina)

“Right, let’s go.” (Fuji)

…Ooh.

They are quickly deciding their moves.

I want to help out too, but I will probably get in the way.

Let’s leave this to the pros.

“Sorry, Takki-dono. We will have to separate for today. Please prepare for tonight’s party, Takki-dono.” (Fuji)

“O-Okay, got it. Fuji-yan, if there’s anything I can help you with, tell me.” (Makoto)

“Of course-desu zo!” (Fuji)

Saying this, Fuji-yan and Nina-san left with quick steps.

I walked the way back to the inn alone.

(The hierarchical system and a rebellion, huh…) (Makoto)

I have learned about this in history lessons, but being told that it will happen in the future, it really doesn’t feel real…

The American Civil War between the north and the south that revolved around the slave system, was it?

But this time around it is the people of lower social standing going against the nobles. It is a bit different.

It is closer to the movie I have seen before about the Spartacus Rebellion?

I returned to the inn while thinking this.

Lucy and Sa-san were not here yet.

I decided to offer a prayer to Noah-sama and train in Water Magic.

◇◇

The night that day.

In the end, Fuji-yan, Nina-san, and Chris-san didn’t return to the inn.

Are they gathering information about the rebellion?

“Come on, Lucy. Let’s go.” (Makoto)

“I told you I am staying…” (Lucy)

“It is okay, Lucy-san. I will be there too.” (Aya)

Sa-san pulled out Lucy who said she was staying in the inn and wasn’t listening.

We three headed to the Highland Castle.

“…Big.”

“Vast.”

“So many people.”

Sa-san, Lucy, and I were overwhelmed by the giant hall in the Highland Castle.

It was a scale that couldn’t be compared to the simple and elegant Rozes Castle.

Ice sculptures and ornaments.

The many palace dishes that would be impossible to finish all.

“Is this the Versailles Palace?” (Aya)

I heard the mutter of Sa-san.

“Have you gone there?” (Makoto)

“No, but it gives me that impression.” (Aya)

“True.” (Makoto)

It reminded us of a certain famous france palace.

The people here are also splendorous.

Wearing fancy accessories on their bodies, they smiled elegantly as they conversed.

I couldn’t feel the signs of rebellion that I heard from Fuji-yan during the day.

It was like a work of art that came straight from a movie.

“We have been waiting, Water Country’s Hero, Makoto-sama, and your entourage, right?”

We were guided by a receptionist, and we entered the venue.

The one waiting for us there was…

“You have come. Leo, explain the rules of parties in the Sun Country to Hero Makoto.” (Sofia)

“Yes, Nee-sama.” (Leo)

Princess Sofia and Prince Leonard, different from the time at the banquet in the Rozes Castle,  were not wearing as flashy of outfits.

The two are good looking, so anything looks good on them.

“Makoto-san, do you know the reason why there’s a difference in the height of this floor?” (Leo)

“…Now that you mention it…is there a meaning to it?” (Makoto)

Now that I look carefully, the floor gets higher the deeper you go.

There’s a few short stairs as it goes.

“This side here is the commoner’s area; the next is the noble area; then the sacred profession area; and the deepest is the area for royals.” (Leo)

“…I see.” (Makoto)

There’s a class difference even here?

What a pain of a country.

“You are a Hero, Makoto-san, so you are on the same level as nobles. You can go as far as the third level.” (Leo)

“I see. By the way, what about Lucy and Sa-san?” (Makoto)

“The two are treated as escorts of the Hero, so 4th, in other words, the current space here is the only permitted area.” (Leo)

“So he says.” (Makoto)

I turn to Lucy and Sa-san.

“Got it.” (Lucy)

“Okay, I will be careful~.” (Aya)

I don’t have acquaintances here, so I might as well stay here in the group.

…Is what I thought, but…

“You, you are the girl that defeated 10 Sun Knights in succession at the training field, right?!”

“Hoh, even though she is this small? That’s impressive.”

“The rumors about the adventurers of the Water Country being strong were true, huh.”

“N-No, that’s not it.” (Aya)

Sa-san is surrounded by high grade knights.

Looks like she did an astounding performance at the training field yesterday like the time in Rozes.

It is true that she doesn’t look strong when surrounded by tall knights, but she has Hero levels of physical strength despite her looks.

“Hi, that dress is beautiful.”

“What’s your name? Want to talk with us?”

“Your hair is beautiful like a red rose. I am jealous.”

“My name’s Lucy. I came from the Wood Country, Spring Log. I came to Makkaren and am currently adventuring with the Water Country’s Hero.” (Lucy)

Lucy was surrounded by young noble ladies.

She has a flashy dress and an outward appearance that pulls the gazes of people, so she ended up gathering attention.

I am impressed by how she can speak so straightforwardly to people she first met.

And in my surroundings…there’s no one.

Why?!

…I soon learned the reason.

I used the Eavesdrop Skill.

“That’s the Hero that almost killed Geralt-sama, huh.” “I can’t believe it. Geralt-sama is the eldest son of the Valentine Household, you know.” “That mad wolf Hero…?” “There’s no doubt he is quite the crazy guy.” “I am slightly interested. Maybe I should try talking to him?” Don’t! Nothing good will come out of it.” “How scary, how scary.”

…As I thought. Fighting the Lightning Hero was a mistake.

I am being treated like a tumor.

(Oh my oh my, isn’t this supposed to be a banquet to welcome you?) (Noah)

“That’s what I heard.” (Makoto)

I am just an exhibition here though.

Am I some sort of wild beast?

Noah-sama, what should I do at times like this?

(…Do your best.) (Noah)

The Goddess ain’t helping!

(Damn it, I don’t have any other acquaintances…) (Makoto)

Princess Sofia is talking to the other royalty.

Prince Leonard is accompanying her.

Sakurai-kun is a Hero, but he is in the royalty area.

He is engaged to Princess Noel, so that’s a given, huh.

The Great Sage-sama…is not here.

Fuji-yan, Nina-san, and Chris-san are obviously not here.

(I know so few people!) (Makoto)

Haah, I’m a loner.

I take one wine bottle and glass there, go out to the terrace, and sip on the wine glass while enjoying the night view.

This tastes good.

It has the same high class taste as the wine I drank with Fuji-yan at the Flying Ship in the past.

That’s the rich country of Highland for you…

You can drink as much high class wine as you want, huh.

The Highland Castle is in a slightly elevated area of Symphonia.

You can see the whole capital from the terrace.

Even at night, the lights of the city are shining without going out.

It reminds me that there’s the livelihood of people for as many lights there are out there.

  • The banquet in the Highland Castle is extravagant and gorgeous.

The Symphonia capital is prospering together with a lot of people.

(…Will a rebellion truly occur?) (Makoto)

While I was thinking that…

“Oh my, what is the Hero-sama that’s the spotlight of this banquet doing here?”

A cheerful voice as if teasing me.

The reason why I can’t feel any sarcasm at all from it must be because her personality is showing in her voice.

“Princess Noel, thanks for inviting me.” (Makoto)

The one who appeared is the party organizer.

“That’s no good, everyone. Not speaking to the main guest, Makoto-sama.” (Noel)

“Looks like I overdid it yesterday.” (Makoto)

Princess Noel sighs slightly.

“Geralt is currently in house arrest. There’s actually a lot of people who want to talk to you because you defeated the Lightning Hero, but they are probably refraining due to the head of the Valentine Household.” (Noel)

She glances at the noble tables.

A blonde middle-aged noble was glaring at me with hatred.

Yeah, I did feel his gaze.

I tried not to look over there though.

“That person is the father of Geralt. It seems he knows that his son was at fault, but…emotions and logic sometimes don’t mesh.” (Noel)

Princess Noel mutters with a troubled expression.

Well, his own son was on the verge of death, so of course he would hate that person.

When it comes to nobles, there’s also the problem of reputation.

…I should stay docile.

“Oh my, the ball dance has begun.” (Noel)

The comfortable music changes to a slightly good tempo.

There’s a dance space at the middle of the hall, and the nobles were dancing elegantly with pairs of men and women.

The one who attracted the most attention within that was…

“Sakurai-kun?” (Makoto)

The Light Hero-sama was dancing with a beautiful lady.

I look at Princess Noel at my side, and she doesn’t show any signs of minding.

Is Princess Noel not dancing?

“That person is the second fiance of Ryosuke-sama. His fourth is waiting next in line.” (Noel)

“…Oh, that is?” (Makoto)

The rumoured more than 20 wives thing?

Yokoyama-san is…ah, at the back.

Sakurai-kun is dancing with all of them? That’s rough.

“Are you okay with not being there, Princess Noel?” (Makoto)

“Everyone knows that I am the first fiance. Appealing that to everyone at this point would look unfavorable instead.” (Noel)

She answers with a smile.

Is that how it works?

“Is the third one not there?” (Makoto)

The song changes and the fourth (a beauty) dances with Sakurai-kun.

I ended up asking.

“She is pregnant after all. She didn’t come to the party.” (Noel)

“?!”

I was shocked by that and ended up snapping my head quickly to where Noel is.

“Oh my, you didn’t know? Ryosuke-sama currently has 2 children. If we count the ones who will be born, it would be 5. One of them is an otherworlder called Kawamoto Eri-san.” (Noel)

“…”

Seriously?

I didn’t know at all.

Sakurai-kun and Yokoyama-san didn’t say anything.

No wonder I didn’t see Kawamoto-san in Laberintos or yesterday.

…Being the partner of more than 20 everyday…

It is the duty of the Light Hero to leave descendants…huh.

It has been around 2 years since Sakurai-kun arrived at Highland.

Of course he would have one or two children, huh…

I wonder. A friend of mine now has children, but should I be congratulating him?

Hmm…

It really makes me wonder.

“You also have two cute girlfriends though, Makoto-sama.” (Noel)

“Huh?” (Makoto)

The bright voice of Princess Noel made me respond with a dumbfounded tone.

“Oh my, was I wrong?” (Noel)

“You are.” (Makoto)

I haven’t touched my party members!

“Maybe you plan on marrying Sofia-sama?” (Noel)

She peeks at my face as if hinting something.

“No, not at all.” (Makoto)

That’s impossible.

If you say that, Princess Sofia is gonna get angry, you know?

But it looks like that response of mine was unexpected for Princess Noel.

“You are quite the earnest person. Does that mean the Hero Makoto-sama doesn’t plan on concentrating in love till after defeating the Great Demon Lord?” (Noel)

“After the Great Demon Lord…huh.” (Makoto)

Hmm, after the last boss that is the Great Demon Lord.

“If you defeat the Great Demon Lord together with Ryosuke-sama, new legendary heroes will be born. The wealth and prestige in this world will all be for the Heroes, you know.” (Noel)

Noel-sama says something captivating with a smile.

…But you know…

“After defeating the Great Demon Lord, I have another dungeon I have to head to.” (Makoto)

The Deep Sea Temple where Noah-sama is waiting.

What’s waiting for me there is said to be even stronger than the Great Demon Lord, the divine beast, Leviathan.

No, that’s a long path.

I wonder if I can actually clear that.

“…Why? You can obtain everything you desire, you know?” (Noel)

Princess Noel has surprise in her expression.

“There’s someone (the Goddess) that’s waiting for me.” (Makoto)

“…Is that so?” (Noel)

Princess Noel didn’t know how to respond to that.

She had slightly cold eyes.

Hm? Did I say something weird?

  1. Hmm, there’s probably more to the history there. After all, if only through what has been mentioned thus far, it basically means that anyone not human or demon have always been second-class citizen at best. There’s probably even more bad blood that goes unmentioned. And yeah, the rebellion’s timing and location is fishy as hell.

    At least Makoto is treated with wariness. Better that than being looked down on. Seriously, that house Valentine patriarch. Couldn’t even raise his own son properly, damn incompetent father. Also, Sakurai’s been busy huh, that explains why Eri wasn’t present during the subjugation.

    The princess probably thought he’s leading the other girls on. Truly, depleted uranium armor is great.

  2. Honestly, have some problems with Fuji and Nina’s reactions the the rebellion. Ever read MLK’s Letters from Birmingham Jail? The most dangerous thing to equality is not the oppressive force but the moderate’s constant cries about how “now is not the right time” or “lets improve gradually”. As he put it, they are “setting a timetable for another man’s freedom.” I held off on reading this part until more chapters were out since this country was going to be disgusting to me. I hope that, even if someone outside helped instigate the rebellion, they don’t write it off as outside interference. It’s a countries own fault if it treats a large segment of it’s own population so badly that they are easily incited to rebellion. This is something that is generally understood (and used) by the intelligence communities in most countries. Win or lose, please burn this place to the ground.

  3. Hmmmm i think that most of the people here are wrong about noel figuring out that he is trying to save the goddess. Because when he said “There’s someone (the Goddess) that’s waiting for me.” i think that the goddess is in parenthesis for clarification purposes or just as an inner thought from makoto. There is no reason to put it in a parenthesis otherwise, and makoto knows that he can not reveal something like that so easily.

  4. Congratulations, Papa Sakurai~
    He sure has it hard. I see him being a decent father though, if a bit…well, having a stressful, exhausting life.

    Hmm? Did Takki just tip off his association to Noah? It feels more like she was probing for info and didn’t like what she got though. Like, more about him not being like Sakurai than anything else. Something political. I mean you could say we distrust her, or you could say we trust her to be an adept politician, which leads us to not take her at face value. Either way, we should take anything she says with a grain of salt.

    Speaking of politics…hmm. This rebellion. I’m going to take a guess and say it’s an attempt by the nobility to usurp and control the country. The more obvious reason is Demonkind, I guess…

  5. Thanks for the chapter! ^^
    The girls have good social skills and popularity. ^^
    And the poor/lucky Makoto is shuned by the party. x) (with his social skills it might have been a blessing in disguise)
    But that’s sure some heavy social stratiphication.
    This cold look when he said that someone was waiting for him might be (because the godess is in panthesis) because she see him like a man playing with girls hearts while having a lover waiting him.
    Or it can be politics like a lot peoples theorised.
    I will give Noel a chance and go for the misunderstanding about the disant lover! x)

  6. Thanks for the chapter Reigokai.

    I don’t know why people are being so suspicious of Noel. She hasn’t really done anything to warrant so much distrust. It could just be she can’t believe there is someone who doesn’t want fame, wealth or women since she doesn’t know our Makoto is a hardcore gamer dead set on clearing the hardest dungeon.

    1. I think the main reason why people doubt noel so much is because they already read “tsuki makoto” where the princess over there are pretty much a bitch ( and the people outside tsuki makoto’s circles are pretty much enemy). Hence why their mindset when judging characters in this series are pretty much “guilty till proven innocent” because that’s how the characters in tsuki makoto usually behave

      Tl;dr : they got traumatized by bitchy princess in other tsuki makoto series and end assuming the worst first

      …Probably anyway

  7. Thanks for the chapter.

    So Noel cold eyes was either because she understood that :
    – Makato cannot be bonded with something she can offer
    – Makoto is a Evil/Elder God’s follower
    – Makoto is far too dense with women’s feelings
    – She cannot understand Makoto rejecting the possibility of obtaining anything he want in society
    – Another thing I didn’t think of…

  8. Okay, two things

    First, that whole rebellion things stink to high heaven. With that kind of timing I won’t be surprised if some big shot noble is behind it, causing them to rebel and use it as excuses to oppose Noel in order to keep demi-human in check and maintain the current hierarchy

    And second, Noel has pretty good reasons to be wary of takki. Think about it. He’s both dangerous and unpredictable. He had defeated taboo monsters twice and killed third strongest hero on his own. In fact, if Noel wasn’t there then Highland will lose big chunk of its military force by losing the lightning hero. Not to mention the magic he used there went out of control and almost flood the royal castle
    Politically wise, he also hold high influence on both Highland and Rozes. One of the them being completely smitten by him while the other has something close to blind faith. With the latter about to become the king

    In her point of view, this one guy have so much power but can’t be restrained by fame, wealth, or women. Plus the fact that he refused to get together with Sofia means he will not be bonded by Highland-Rozes political relationships

    I mean, the great sage herself also highly favored him

    Let alone Noel, any sane leader would be pretty damn afraid of him

    1. That’s lame though.
      I hate when novels deal in subjects like slavery and oppression than just fall down on the side of the status quo.
      You know, that’s kind of the problem of siding with, ya know, *the establishment.* You’re culpable. I dislike it when isekai proagonists can basically break the planet with their powers, but oh no, when it comes time to buy the 1000 yo elf slave waifu they just shrug and accept an unjust system.

      It’s why I would rather isekai didn’t include topics like slavery or racism because they never follow-through on them accept in the dumbest way possible. If you’re going to write about Isekai Harriet Tubman, great, otherwise, piss off.

      It’s also not really Makoto’s problem since the Water country is relatively better in its treatment of minorities and having the Light country weaken would be a good thing in terms of the balance of power.

  9. It’s a good thing that Fuji-yan just explained his power as Mind Reading. I think it’d be really awkward if he explained that it’s a power based on galges and then have to also explain what a galge is.

    I don’t know why Makoto is having a hard time wrapping his head around there being a rebellion. He’s seen the racism and elitism of this country and he should have an understanding of rebellions in general. Just in this stupid party there’s already examples of racism and elitism by making the non-humans stay on the lowest floor while the higher-class people are on increasingly higher floors. Anyways I mean there are usually rebellions in RPGs so you’d think he’d be familiar with the usual reasons for them. Anyways a rebellion was bound to happen anyways. The only thing is that there’s a possibility that this one is being fanned and sped up by the demonkins but either way a rebellion would have eventually happened.

    It sucks how they are treating Sakurai. He’s what, 19? 20? And he already will be having 5 kids. He’s just a breeding tool to the nobles. He’s unlikely to actually be ready to be a father and you just know that the kids will be made into soldiers because that’s the only reason the nobles even want Sakurai to have kids. Because the children of a hero are very likely to end up being really strong. Sakurai probably wouldn’t even get much chance to spend with his kids because they’d be whisked away to be trained as soldiers or army mages as soon as possible. Also who knows how many of those woman he actually loves.

    I feel like Noel had those cold eyes when Makoto mentioned a goddess because she doesn’t actually like the gods. We already heard how the royal family doesn’t have much -if any- real power and instead the church and 4 noble houses are the ones in charge really. They seem to claim that all this racism and elitism is because they are ordained by the gods. Y’know the whole Divine Right of Rule? That’s basically what this seems like. Never mind that neither the church or the noble houses have any divine ancestry that they can claim since the one that they consider heaven-sent is Abel and he disappeared without leaving any descendants. The founder of the church and royal family was just a companion of Abel yet there was never any claim that she -the Oracle Anna- was divine. Anyways it seems like Noel doesn’t like all these claims of divinity being used as an excuse or how the perceived divinity isn’t letting her act how she wants. The position of Oracle I think was mandatory for her since she’s the princess, all these stupid claims about Sakurai and herself being the reincarnations of Abel and Anna sound like something made up by the royal family so they can also finally claim Divine Right of Rule like the church and 4 noble houses and stand as equals while basically forcing Noel to marry a man she may not love and finally her efforts to abolish the current hierarchy are probably being stymied by others via claims that it would go against the god’s authority.

    1. >Makoto mentioned a goddess because she doesn’t actually like the gods
      He said “someone” (ひと) not goddess (女神様), but he was implying this someone is goddess and who knows whether Noel knows goddess is locked in a certain dungeon or not. It’s more like Noel would assume he’s promising someone he likes that he will go with her when he’s clearing the last dungeon.

  10. > I think Princess Noel knows what Makoto means by the Goddess. The correlation of Dungeon and Goddess will surely snap on her memory.

    Royalties are really educated people, and the preservation of bloodline boost their educational capability. If Princess Noel can take on the challenge to rule the country, then she must have a super good memory and capable brain, so hinting about Dungeon and Goddess will lead to one conclusion, the history of Hero, Demon Lord, and the Gods.

    > Another side, Sakurai having already a children’s, i think his heart was not ready yet, because everything he’d do, he’s not grasping the full responsibility yet as a father because the country was full supporting his livelihood, life, and love one.

    > Princess Noel saying that the duty of Light Hero was to leave a descendant, then i am agree
    If all of us Isekai’d, then you must take this pledge

    ~~~ ISEKAI PLEDGE ~~~
    I , pleadge when truck-kun smashed on me,
    i will greet the Goddess of fertility of the other world with full of vigor,
    I will ask the goddess to grant me the passive skill of “Love by all Loli’s” … no.. no.. nnooo. I mean “Love by all beauties”
    Another Skiils were space magic, skill point allocations, and skill and attribute thief rank sss
    I will save all Loli… Beauties in the whole world.
    I will let all the fluffiness to wag their tails full of life.
    I will lead the oppress men who lacks love life to the most precious red light district
    I will subjugate all Dragons that can transformed to Lol…. Beauties….
    I will no let any Royalties to take advantage of me, but to take advantage of them by taking a Waifu Princess
    I will not let any nobles to spread darkness in their own country, but introduce them how cosplaying works and benefits to the fief
    I will let all fluffiness to fight for my attention
    I will let all Elves to fight for my attention
    I will let all cafe poster girls to fight for my attention
    I will not let any man or beast man to fight for my attention
    I will live my life to the fullest, standing straight, reaching the sky, smiling all day
    I will sleep everyday in my custom bed, an quadruple queen size bed, many many guess..
    I will die happily with 100 waifu’s
    ~~~ PLEDGE END ~~~

  11. I… have no words. I envy Sakurai but am also scared to be in his shoes.
    Two children, three more soon… and the politics… 🙁
    Thanks for the chapter.

  12. Thanks for the update

    I still can’t decide how i feel the light hero used as breeding tools and his children that he will never has chance to know will used as battle slave

  13. Dear translator. Makoto doesnt say there is a goddess waiting for me but there is a person waiting for me at this moment. Implied goddess but Noel doesnt know this

    1. Oh oops, thanks for the correction, I didn’t understand the meaning of why it was in small words, but I guess that’s how the author implied a parenthesis.

  14. This is definitely a Foreshadow. From the conversation the princess definitely want Makoto in her side by using Wealth , Fame and Authorities. And he doesn’t care of those status and has a clear goal in mind even after great demon lord. That is why she find it hard to put him under her leash who can definitely become a threat. And I get the feeling the rebellion of beastkins toward their country is orchestrated by princess who is giving suspicious vibe. If I am thinking is right, her desire to control Makoto is coming from Light Hero Sakurai-kun’s trust toward him. Sakurai is currently under nobody’s control but he is slowly getting tied by princess and her country and Makoto who gain his total trust is viewed like a double edge sword. They can get total support from hero if they get Makoto in their side but if play poorly Light Hero will leave their country and It will be a huge factor in their credibility of the strongest force in the continent. That is why they can’t rid off or recklessly pull Makoto from their side. I think princess view Makoto as controller of Light Hero Sakurai-kun.

    Well this is just baseless assumption don’t mind it.

    1. That’s true, really. Even if Takki had zero combat potential, taking him in for the effect it would have on the precious Light Hero in itself is worth it. He’s a rare stabilizing factor on the linchpin of their country-arguably their world.

      He would make an ideal leverage too-possibly even more than his wives.

  15. Astonishing! A new chapter and more twists and turns. Everyone so far has stated that the Princess smells like Lily. I’m wondering if she might be making a bid for Makoto. Seeing as he hasn’t been active like Sakurai. Maybe she’s trying to pick him up. Speculation on my part. I still don’t like these dense MCs. Thanks for the new chapter, Reigokai.

  16. This makes me wonder…
    Shouldn’t Noel be the first to have a child?

    Wait,
    I rmb reading abt her, abstaining from sex as an oracle of goddess…

    Damn,
    I dun hav a reason to question her personality yet…

    She is giving Makoto a pair of cold eyes?
    Well, i am not surprise.
    Saying that u r going to the dungeon to save a goddess is outright proclaiming that you are a believer of some evil god/goddess.

  17. Why would he he say that to the Sun God Oracle when he’s being trying the hardest to not be known as a Old God believer ?? Strange stuff right here.
    “Lucy was surrounded by young noble ladies.” Yeah… Smells fishy for me. I’m thinking that maybe Noel made the dudes go speak with Makoto’s partner so she could go speak with him privately to get info, as she is doing now…

    Also why “The fact that he is tragically participating in this rebellion means that this is by no means a situation we can look at positively.” ? Dudes can’t rebel cause nobles are assholes ? What kind of process of thinking is that ? The reason will probably be demons or devilkind cause plot anyway…

  18. Thank you for the chapter Reigokai!

    As always it is greatly appreciated!

    Damn just when I was starting to warm up to Noel after her actions at the training field. Nope, nope, nope, nope. She stinks far too much of politics. I am getting vibes of both Hibiki AND of Princess Lily. More Princess Lily.

    I get the feeling she is very manipulative and makes use of whomever she can to strengthen her countries’, and her families’ as well as her own, position. Sort of get the feeling she doesn’t love Sakurai at all. What’s the betting that secretly it was her idea to have him sleep with as many wives as possible and have as many children as possible.

    And what are the chances that despite supposedly being on the side of the reformation of the hierarchical system she is only doing so to appear to appease Sakurai but is actually the source of further strife between the demihumans and the system?

    I could be doing her a great injustice but I honestly can’t bring myself to trust Noel.

    P.S. Takki-dono your humility is grand indeed! Don’t ever change. Plus your ladies need to meet your first wife before things can properly progress.

    Which raises the question, what happens after he saves Noel?

    Are we looking at another Theomachy (God War) or perhaps looking at a war between countries? Or even the release of the Titan Gods? Could it be that the fight against the Demon Lord is nothing but a prelude to what is yet to come?

    Find out next year on Weakest Mage! Or maybe the year after that… or the year after that maybe.

    1. The hell are u smoking?comparing her to lily. Noel is a very nice princess. She didnt even do anything that can be judged as bad.

      1. Except ensnare a hero from another country, entice others to join her countries army by the use of money, power and lovers.

        She also undermined international co-operation by drawing potential fighters away from allied countries. Seemingly attempting to do the same with Takki-dono, when she first met him. She was very eager for him to visit Highland and maybe stay there, despite not really knowing him or just how he was involved in the Taboo dragon suppression. And now this scene where she seems to be testing the waters of trying to draw him to her side.

        I get the feeling she behaves in at least two very different ways depending upon the situation. One is the kind and caring and compassionate person she has presented to Sakurai and is readers so far and the other is a cold and calculating person that we are starting to have concrete evidence for. The way she has acted in this chapter indicates that there is more to her. This behaviour is very much like how Lily acts. With Lily we as the readers got introduced to her darkside early on but she clearly presented a front to everyone else that she was a perfect princess.

  19. Thanks for the chapter!!😉

    So Noah’s rescue is like an after story mission with very hard difficulty huh😅
    And by the looks of it that Princess knew who’s the Goddess Makoto’s referring too. She’s a potential enemy in my eyes now.

  20. I’m enjoying this quite a bit. I smell a power-trip. Makoto can’t be controlled by earthly desires so she’s starting to view him as a problem.

    1. Sakurai isn’t controlled by sex either. Sounds like it’s become a duty he was happy to get drunk with Makoto to avoid.
      A world where “I have a headache” is responded to with “High Heal” spell.
      Meanwhile Makoto is caught with his hands on the cabinets in the castle instead of the princess’ body.
      Lol

  21. I don’t know why but I can’t predict who’s going to happen. That princess gives waifu vibes but I am not convinced.

    Thank u Reigo-san ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      1. Well she’s only engaged to him. So far there is nothing to suggest that either Sakurai or Noel have any romantic feelings for each other or are even in a sexual relationship.Y’know the whole “she’s royalty so she must remain pure until the actual wedding” sort of deal.

      2. I think Noel is virgin because she is an oracle and people affilated to churches such as oracles, priests, and sisters are supposed virgins.

  22. Thanks for the chapter~

    She had slightly cold eyes.

    Oh dear, bad flag incoming. I hope its just a couple of small bad memories with the gods.
    And Makoto, i don’t know why but for the first time i like your action being humble about your relationship with Princess Noel (although i know its you being dense not knowing the feeling of those 3 around you).

    Princess Eri already pregnant? And even before that Sakurai-kun already impregnated some more women? o-0 No wonder why Great Sage-sama hates his blood lel

  23. Thanks for the chapter! And damn Sakurai must have worked hard! Feel bad for the kids though since pretty sure they’re gonna be trained as soldiers or be used as tools to further bind Sakurai to the kingdom, but that’s politics I guess~ Also maybe the reason why Noel is looking at him like that is because either she guessed he’s trying to free Noah or the fact that he’s a Hero that seems to have no interest in wealth or beauty means that he’s someone who isn’t easily controllable which can be a threat to the kingdom? Who knows, what I do hope is that even when this arc ends, Makoto and Sakurai won’t become hated enemies! Atleast not till the great demon lord falls for Makoto and joins his overpowered harem

    1. Man i didn’t think about that. That’s a very plausible assumption looking at how that country works, but seeing how Princess Noel’s character, that’s such an unbelievable thing to take. But well, you’re right, that’s how politics are
