WM – Chapter 82: Takatsuki Makoto overdoes it

-Geralt Valentine POV-

The one in front of me is a beaten up mage with trash-like mana.

A guy like this is a Hero like me?

It pisses me off.

I cut open a Water Dragon that was close by.

At the time when close to a hundred Water Dragons appeared, I got a bit flustered.

But, in the end, it is just Water Magic.

For a Hero like me, the attack power of Water Magic is close to zero.

To top it off, there’s that damn shitty Light Hero here.

I will make your friend into a beaten up rag!Β 

I punch away a Water Dragon in front of me.

β€œIs that all you have?! How stupid!” (Geralt)

I get closer to him to finish him off.

Different from before, the WaterΒ  Hero’s expressions have gotten more bountiful.

He is quickly warping his expression in pain.

β€œThen, I will be using a big spell now.” (Makoto)

That guy said something weird.

β€œHuh?” (Geralt)

What is he saying?Β 

That Superior Magic of just now was your trump card, ain’t it?

Don’t go bluffing.

The Water Country’s Hero raises his right hand.

The next instant, a giant mass of water appears with him as the center.Β 

*Zuzuzuzuzuzu*

The mass of water sways as it changes shape and increases in size seemingly endlessly.

β€œ?!” 

What?

Generating water?

The water increased to a point where it felt as if it could swallow the training field.

β€œUo!” β€œWhat’s with this amount of water?!” β€œThis is bad!” β€œAre you telling me all of this is water?!” β€œThis is water generation?!” β€œThat’s impossible! On this scale?!” β€œWait, Makoto?!” β€œLucy-san, step back!” β€œKyaaa!” β€œRun!” β€œGet away, you will get swallowed!” β€œMakoto-san, that’s amazing…” 

I hear annoying voices from the trash around.Β 

That’s an impressive water generation amount.

It is a water amount that feels like it would be enough to swallow the Highland Castle, but what of it?

I take distance from the gigantic mass of water.

The water mass increased in amount more and more, and now, it even felt as if it could surpass that of the Highland Castle.

This is stupid. I’m just gonna blow it all away.

Trash…

β€œ[Sun Magic: [Thunderbolt].” (Geralt)

The Superior Magic I shot hits the water mass. But…

β€œTch!” (Geralt)

Maybe because of the amount of water, there’s no signs of the magic working at all.

The water continued increasing even now.

So I have no choice but to cut it down directly, huh.

β€œSun Magic: [Thunder Sword]!” (Geralt)

I take a stance with my sword, and activate a Sword Magic Skill.

The Skill that the legendary Savior Abel used.

With this, I can finish this stupid fight.

My wooden sword shines golden, and changes into a weapon that is comparable to Magic Swords.

With this, it doesn’t matter what weapon is in my hand.

I am going to cut you down together with your pathetic magic.

β€œRyosuke-sama?! Is it okay to not stop this?” (Noel)

I can see Noel shaking the shoulder of the Light Hero bastard.

…It annoys me.

β€œIt is okay. If it is Takatsuki-kun.” (Sakurai)

I could hear the Light Hero bastard’s voice.

What is he trusting in that trash mage?Β 

I will make it so your friend won’t be standing up ever again.

Just watch there in silence.

I gather an astounding amount of Lightning Mana into the sword I am holding in my right hand, and…

Charge into the giant mass of water.

He is at the center of the water mass.

The inside of the water is dark, and I can’t see his face.

But I can tell his location with my Skill.

Just before my sword could reach…

[Water Magic: Deep Sea]

Even though I shouldn’t be able to hear a voice inside the water, for some reason, his voice reached my ears.

(?! What? My body is heavy…) (Geralt)

The water he generated presses on me as if it were coiling around me.

But it is not like I can’t move.

What pointless struggle…

Generating this much water, and this is all you can do?

What a child’s play.

I raise my sword and try to swing it down at him.

My arms…legs…somehow move.

This bastard, using some cheeky magic here.

The pressure increases even more.

I could tell the bones in my whole body began making cracking sounds.

I can’t breath.

My head is knocking.

My vision is getting hazy.

My whole body is ringing alarms of danger.

[Water Magic: Water Depth 3,000 meters]

The voice…rang in my ears.

*Crack!*

I heard the sound of a bone somewhere snapping.

(AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!) (Geralt)

Pain ran.

I can’t scream.

I could only grind my teeth in the water.

Damn…it…!

I will kill you…!

But first, I have to get away…from here…

[Water Magic: Water Depth 4,000 meters]

That disinterested tone.

That voice of his reached my ears.

Before I could comprehend the meaning of those words…

*Squash*

Something was crushed.

I can’t tell if it was my arm or my leg.

My understanding could not keep up.

What’s happening to me right now?

Each time he speaks, the pain increases even more.Β 

It stops me from thinking.

No, I can tell one thing.

I am going to die.

Fear rushes through my every pore.

Just before I lost consciousness, I saw the shadow of someone jumping inside.

The one who saved me was that annoying Light Hero.

By the time I noticed, I was in a space of nothingness… I was at the place of the Goddess.

β€œNoah-sama?” (Makoto)

This is strange.

Wasn’t I fighting with the Lightning Hero?

β€œMakoto.” (Noah)

Ah, Noah-sama is there.

β€œIt has been a while.” (Makoto)

I went on my knees and greeted her as always.

No response.

I look up.

β€œIdiot idiot idiot idiot! What are you doing?!” (Noah)

She was drumming my head.

β€œO-Ouch. It hurts, Noah-sama.” (Makoto)

Now that I think about it, it doesn’t hurt.

β€œY-Yes.” (Makoto)

I put myself in seiza.

I was in the training field of the Highland Castle just a few moments ago.

And then, I should have been fighting the Lightning Hero Geralt…

Around my unconscious body, there’s Lucy, Sa-san, Prince Leonard, Princess Sofia, and Sakurai-kun.

Princess Sofia is using healing magic.

From what I can see, it doesn’t look like I have any big injuries.

Haah, but me being unconscious means that…

Noah-sama doesn’t say anything.

Noah-sama snaps her fingers.

The screen changes.

What was projected there was…

Limbs bend, twisted, and crushed in ways impossible for a human; the Lightning Hero Geralt.

Eh? Wait! Wait a bit!Β

β€œ…H-He is dead?” (Makoto)

I felt my face pale.

No way.

I killed someone…

β€œOh, our beloved ruler, Light Magic: [Revive].” (Noel)

At that moment, the beautiful voice of Princess Noel resonates.

The Lightning Hero who was wrapped in holy light was returning to how it was.

I heard the voice of the Great Sage-sama.

The strongest mage of the continent was muttering something as she dealt with the aftermath.

After a while, all the water was washed smoothly away.

Lucy said her thanks in my stead.

Thinking about the possibility of dragging Sa-san and Lucy into it gives me chills.

She kissed me on the cheek like before.

The Lightning Hero was by the side of Princess Noel.

Looks like he has recovered too.

  5. My goodness, this was so much more beautiful than what I expected, damn son. Even if Makoto can’t abuse of the spirits this is still a really good advance. I feel a bit sorry for Geralt though because the last info, I hope he can redeem and get Noel back, this feels to much like ntr.

Wait a minute, am i the only one who feels like this is getting out of control by the seconds? in 5,000 feet, you will suffer 2230 psi you know, for comparison, Hydraulic Press pressure is 3000 psi, just imagine seeing someone getting crushed in everyside by a hydraulic press is seriously bad for my health

    Also the unexpected NTR (not really) appeared here huh…not gonna lie, it was a bit anti-climatic (with the abrupt change of scene, i would prefer sofia or noel, though i expect that will appear in the next chapter).

    See you in the next chapter, if i’ll still alive by then, i swear, giving almost 20 assignment to complete in 6 days is too unrealistic

    1. You got the metric wrong. It wasn’t 5000 feet of water but 5000 METERs of water which makes it much worse. He basically subjected the guy to 7300 PSI of pressure. That the guy wasn’t squished into an unrecognizable pancake is amazing and shows how dang tough he actually is lol.

    Davy Jones’ locker anyone? Awesome cheat to say the least.
    To improve his abilities I thought that maybe he would have used his treasure finding ability in the dungeons for protective / strength items but I guess he will clad himself with a shield of pressurized water or something, besides water bullets he should be able to create a water blade to cleanly cut through most anything as well.

    But why did he faint in the end? Was it the wounds, the magic going berserk or Sakurai-kun knocking him down?

    At this point he could just use an omnidirectional water jet cutter, it works both as a form of defense and offense.

    Using the deap sea pressure is really cool and out of the box for a fantasy setting.
    The great nobles are sure to pay attention to him now. x) This demonstration of power should help the Water Kingdom to raise its standing among the other kingdoms. ^^
    Really hope Sakurai is as pure as he seems and the worry at the back of my mind is for nothing.
    If it is a skill that help seeing through peoples status and their alignement (good or evil), it could explain his level of trust as a fighting power, and the first invitation would be him being a goody two shoes wanting to help the weakest of the group.
    Maybe he got a skill at the begining in addition of [Sun Hero] was something derived from his social skills to see trough people?

    I feel really bad for Geralt after this chapter.
    Well, the last 3 chapters is somewhat of a rollercoaster of emotion. Your childhood stolen away just because there’s someone better than you is really hurting your feeling a lot. But still, Geralt releases his emotion in a very very wrong way. I’m sure if Geralt wanted to talk to Sakurai-kun properly about this, Sakura-kun would be more than welcome to do so, seeing his character that even he trusted Makoto who’s considered as the weakest to help him defeat the Taboo dragon.

    Also, seeing how Noah-sama acts toward Makoto lately, i always imagine how she would hug him or maybe even kiss him in the mouth by the time Makoto saved her and how his harem would react to it ahahah

With your proficiency reached insane amount, it should be a child play to you so please get a glimpse of it soon so you can create a literal swarm of deadly bullets for your lacks of physical strength :<

    Must admit I did not anticipate this new spell but I love it! Looking at it it matches his anger far more than just freezing cold or scalding boiling water.

    This is the demon lord crush grip! I mean I have this image of Taki-dono creating an orb of water around the enemy as he stands with a hand upraised, fingers loosely spread open and then starts increasing the pressure as he slowly closes his fist.

    So the whole eradication of spirit magic was to prevent berserk states, interesting indeed and perfectly understandable. But I somehow get the feeling that normally reaching even 99 proficiency is super hard to do.

    Noah-kamisama please explain things to Taki-dono earlier. Oh and please, stop trying to get ahead of Lucy, Sa-san and Sofia! You are already ahead of them!

    I must say, although it is interesting from a literary standpoint to see development and background added to characters to make them more fleshed out I still don’t like this Gertrash.

    So Taki-dono has now learnt how to super train his magic proficiency. He went up by a 125% wow! Noah-kamisama you do realise he is going to try to train like this from now on right? He will call on the spirits to make a huge mass of water dragons and then make them dance around… the time when Taki-dono reaches 999 proficiency does not seem far off

Well, Noah-sama and Lucy and like the rest of the world literally says to Makoto that after Proficiency reached 50, it will be very hard to increase it even by 1 point so yeah, reaching 99 Proficiency could be just a dream for almost all of the people there. I would also say that calling a Magic Proficiency of 200 is unimaginable isn’t an exaggeration

Can totally imagine Taki-dono having utter joy in playing with water dragons the size of inter city freight trains and the spirits becoming even happier and joyful and making every Rh inf bigger and more excitable which makes Taki-dono have even more fun which makes the spirits have more fun which leads into an infinite feedback loop after which Super-Scary-Great-Sage-Loli comes in and forbids his use of spirit magic without calm mind in effect ever again.

    3. Now that you mention it, “Force Crush” is the go-to for when someone has disappointed you for the last time.

Sympathy, sure, but he’s still the asshole for lashing out at unrelated people, bullying Leon-chan, pretty explicit attempted murder, and, from what I read into it, trying to get Sa-san and Lucy as property.

    I love how we were all theorizing what monster Takki would summon with water and it turns out-nah, he’s just gonna summon, like…the ocean. 5000 meters isn’t the deepest you can go, I don’t think, but it’s certainly enough to fuck up even a superhuman it seems.
    …Damn. I guess this means the Leviathan guarding Noah is gonna be really tough if it lives at that level. Maybe we can at least gimp it by dragging it to shore so the pressure is extremely low by its standards?

      Damn I am getting hyped to see how they would overcome the leviathan.

      Although at this point Taki-dono is a glass cannon. He seriously needs to find a way to better survive. Upping evasion and dodge seems good but it seems to have its limits and drawbacks as shown in this fight and needs to either find a way of compensating or being able to tank more hits.

        1. Isn’t that what this spell sort of did? No matter what attacks were thrown at it it just absorbed them and well… crushed them.

          Kind of reminds me of another Makoto’s insane way of dealing with attacks

        2. Also can you imagine Taki-dono moving around in his sphere of uber defense? I just have an image of King Harlequin from Nanatsu No Taizai reclining on his spirit spear chastifoil (pillow form) as it shoots out attacks continuously.

          Given Taki-dono’s inclination towards ninja/assassin job wouldn’t an advanced form of evade/dodge be a better form of defence. You know β€œMist-form” his body becomes mist itself. Any attacks simply passes through him and he is as a phantom untouchable yet able to end you. Or would something like Nurarihyon No Mago’s Kyoka Suigetsu be better? Creating illusions whilst hiding your presence and making others attack the phantom images Whilst having no idea where you are be a better fit?

    2. Well he could always just do the reverse and make the water move away from the Leviathan to get rid of the pressure and let it explosively decompress.

      1. So something similar to the water pressure converter used by Eelai in Battle Angel Alita? Just a sheet of water moving at fantastically high speeds to deflect or destroy anything that comes into contact with it. You could do foam to insulate or mist to diffuse light attacks. IMO water has the best or at least broadest defensive options compared to the other elements.

      2. That is assuming that the creature will respond in the same way. Many animals are adapted for deep sea pressures by having no internal air pockets/spaces/being super dense such that there is nothing that can be crushed.

        Removing the pressure Doesn’t cause them to suddenly explode, not unless there was a pressurised air pocket or similar inside them. Such as what happens with the bends, diffused nitrogen in the blood essentially becomes bubbles in the blood stream Or tissues which further expand.

        But this is only a problem if there is excess nitrogen dissolved in the blood. A creature existing at the bottom of the ocean is unlikely to have nitrogen dissolved in the blood. Therefore isn’t likely to suffer from the bends.

        (This is of course applying real world physics and logic to a fantasy world)

        Personally I think the creating a negative space around the head of the leviathan (essentially a vacuum where no oxygen can readily diffuse) would be the equivalent of chocking/drowning it. Provided it still needs oxygen to live. If not… any one have any other ideas?

My problem with novel like this is that after all those over the top rude remarks (to lucy and sa-san) and misdeeds he has done to prince leonard they’ll most likely go all buddy buddy with that lightning hero later, especially after hearing that childhood friend backstory setting and that sorrow back or whatever

    1. They did got that way with the old man knight which was a bit dumb. This guy though? I expect him to go join the demons or turn into a taboo booger monster or attempt a coup. Earlier there were one or two ways that he could have turned out to be a redeemable or sympathetic character but at this point? Nah. Resurrecting him feels like setting up trouble.

The old man knight was somewhat acceptable one way or another because he was just a hot headed guy as far as I remember and that is the limit of my tolerance…. but this guys is just straight up psychotic human being with authority…. it’ll be weird as hell if they just decide to brush it off easily later

          Being murderous towards tangentially-related people and trying to take their friends as trophy-women makes you some blend of a bastard and a sociopath.

      2. Fouran said most of it, but also he’s just incredibly straight-laced and from a world where there are nobles and commoners. Previously, Makoto was just a commoner, who was speaking INCREDIBLY disrespectfully towards the princess of the country, which is why he reacted the way he did. Once he realized the errors of his judgement, understanding that he had been mistaken about Makoto, he immediately apologized, sincerely, not just “oh crap gotta get on his good side”; that’s why Makoto asked for him to get his Guardian Knight position back, after all. He realized that he’d messed up just as much as the old man knight had.

    Not sure why he summoned so much water. I mean yeah, you can increase water pressure by increasing head but you’re still going to have to use magic to keep that pressure from escaping sideways so why not just use magic to raise the pressure directly? Or use ice. Ice makes everything better.

    1. He didn’t really exepcted that much water cus the water spirits kept calling more water spirits until it piled up like so. Water spirits was so fired up with Makoto lol

    2. It’s a good thing Heroes are so durable, I guess. He was even able to move at 1000 meters. So a 100 atmospheres is still doable, but five times that is enough to kill him. Fair enough. The rapid/burst increase probably didn’t help either.

      Thinking about it, the Water Spirits are basically us as readers.
      “Hey, can you help me beat this guy?”
      “Hell yeah! This guy’s a dick. LET’S FUCK HIM UP.”
      “Everyone retweet this and get it on trending. Mana is free.”

Even with 500 atmosphere, it was gradual increase of pressure, like free gravity magic increasing weight, what you meant by soup is atmos+depressurization, at 5000+m +depressurization you implode as water tries to rapidly enter any volume cavity, turning you into marble, but weight only mangles you

So far this arc makes it seem like the 4 noble houses and their heroes along with the church are corrupt and are the reason for all the discrimination and elitism with Geralt being part of the problem. Just last chapter they said that he lynched some people because they offended him and here he wanted to kill Makoto and forcibly take Lucy and Sa-san. Those do not seem like the actions of a guy just lashing out over recently having his engagement broken off. They sound like he’s always been like this.

    Now Makoto has magic proficiency at 200. Also what was that about water magic having zero killing power? I can’t hear you over the sound of your crushed body. Anyways so the gods deliberately spread the idea that spirit magic isn’t popular and set up the Soul Books to only display magic proficiency to 99 so that people don’t get too powerful and also so that they don’t cause too much destruction though I think they did it mostly for the former reason instead of the latter. They probably also spread the notion that water magic is particularly weak because truthfully it is probably the one that can do the most devastation and none of the ways that I can think of for it to kill are pretty.

    Eh I don’t feel any sympathy for Geralt of Shit-ia. Just because he was Princess Noel’s former fiance doesn’t mean he wasn’t always a piece of shit. They said in the previous chapter that he once lynched somebody because they offended him. Couple that with what he intended to do to Makoto and then forcibly taking Lucy and Sa-san to his bed, none of that sounds like it’s because he’s acting out over Sakurai taking his fiancee. It sounds like he’s always been like this. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that the 4 noble families and the church have more power than the royal family and Noel had been forcibly arranged to be betrothed to Geralt. Now that Sakurai has shown up, Noel and her family used that to break off an unwanted engagement.

    2. Feeling sorry for him doesn’t mean justified his trash actions. You can feel sorry for criminals but it won’t excuse their criminality.

    3. The skills he was using were all supposed to be Hero Abel’s, I think up until Sakurai showed up, Geralt was the reincarnation of Abel, or as close as the world thought they’d get. So Sakurai didn’t only take his fiancee, and number one status.

      As for the water magic, they don’t have the imagination to think of anything else they can do with the water, other than just throwing it at people, or freezing it.Geralt was probably also confident that he could just sublimate it with his lightning, nobody expects to see so much water all at once.

      2. Since Abel the Saviour was saving the kingdom 1000s years ago, I think the history was kinda corrupted to fit the narrative that he used light skills. Probably he wasn’t using light skills, but something else. Since it was a long time ago, people that know the secret decreased until there are barely any people who know the real history.

        My guess is Makoto is the reincarnation of Abel.

      3. Yeah Leonard showed that with his amazement at the animals that Makoto was making just as a way to train his control; he’d never think of something like that because of their rigid views. Same with the knowledge about deep sea pressure, too.

    4. Some very good points. His actions now are not wholly or even partially excused by what has happened. Despite possibly being understandable. This is when people don’t have someone who can say no to them/discipline them.

      Although we do not know how long he has behaved like this, for all we know he was the very epitome of a righteous person and helped train Sakurai, maybe he even introduced Sakurai to Noel and because of his actions the two began a relationship etc. Again this doesn’t excuse his current actions it just may go some way to explaining his hatred and absolute need to prove himself above and beyond everyone else. That is if he didn’t always behave like this.

      If he did always behave like this bleh then he got off lightly.

    1. she actually doing great job as a princess, when water country capital got attacked by taboo giant & those circus monster, she react accordingly to not induce panic and minimize the casualty.

      Sofia is just straightlaced and too methodical on her approach. which is why she only hire some bunch with high stat on the first temple Makoto’s classmate got transported and leave the MC in the dust.

      it just turns out that she doesn’t have any talent to discerning a value of a person

    2. Her skill hides her feelings, and gives her the opportunity to react calmly to stressful situations, but it does nothing to reduce the feelings she has towards Makoto, after he used the appearance of a taboo monster to feel up her insides with his magic synchro.

  50. There was a moment where I thought makoto would suddenly decrease the pressure from 4000 to 0. Rapid depressurization would be a super nerd way of killing someone.

    1. I mean what do you expect after the poor dude was subjected to the pressure of 5000 meters of water? That amount of water generates pressure that is about 500 times stronger than the pressure at sea level.which is 14.6 pounds per square inch. This means that dude was subjected to about 7,300 pounds per square inch of pressure. It’s honestly surprising he wasn’t completely squished into an unrecognizable pancake.

      1. There is nothing “poor” about him, considering his attitude didn’t changed I think 5000 meters of water weren’t enough to teach him, should have increased until he did became a pancake

      2. This isn’t even the worst way he could have gone. Makoto squashing him beneath an ocean’s worth of water is getting off lightly. He could have been shredded by a water cutter, spun around the arena like a washing machine (which he used on a minotaur a while back), could have been drowned with just a bit of water in his lungs, could have had the water ripped out of his body through every pore and orifice, could have been dragged into quicksand, the possibilities are endless and horrifying.
