What got me curious a bit was the attitude of Chris-san.

Until now, it felt like there was a bit of distance between us since she simply knew me as a friend of Fuji-yan, but…

β€œTakatsuki-sama, when you return to Makkaren, I will prepare the highest quality room, and have a chef of us prepare meals for you, so if you have any request, just tell me, okay?!” (Chris)

β€œN-No, I am okay with something normal.” (Makoto)

She is worrying about me quite a lot now.

The title of Hero really is impressive.

But the old man couldn’t feel how awkward I was feeling and simply laughed out loud.

I honestly am not interested in flowers at all. I was only seeing whether there are Spirits or not.

The old man speaks while caressing a flower as if admiring it.

…It doesn’t fit a brawny big man that much, but I shouldn’t tease him here.

The old man is unexpectedly a romanticist, huh.

β€œWhen the Great Demon Lord resurrects, I will become the shield of our Hero-dono.” 

β€œYeah, I will be counting on you.” (Makoto)

My defense is paper after all.

The Skill of the old man that allowed him to tank an attack of that Giant and still be completely alright is really reliable.

β€œBy the way, what was the Northern Expedition Plan that Princess Sofia spoke of?” (Makoto)

That’s apparently going to be my first job after being appointed a Hero.

β€œOoh, about that plan! Hero-dono, you know about us being in the west continent and there being a continent at the north, right?” 

β€œUhm, demons live in the north continent, was it?” (Makoto)

I remember learning about it in the Water Temple.

β€œYeah. The 9 Demon Generals that obeyed the Great Demon Lord. The north continent is ruled by the 3 that survived and are acting as Demon Lords.” 

I have heard about that.

It is also called the Demonic Continent.

β€œCould the Northern Expedition Plan be…” (Makoto)

I feel like I have an idea about what it is now.

β€œBefore the Great Demon Lord revives, we will defeat all the Demon Lords in the northern continent. That’s the Northern Expedition Plan.” 

β€œOoh…” (Makoto)

Demon Lord extermination.

Finally an event like that.

As an RPG player, there’s a lot to think about in this, but I feel like my current strength won’t be enough.

As I thought, I should master Spirit Magic.

β€œAre you not scared, Hero-dono?” 

β€œEh? Yeah, I don’t know how strong those Demon Lords are, but looks like I gotta train my magic more.” (Makoto)

β€œYou even look like you are looking forward to it. How dependable.” 

I look like that, huh.

I give my thanks to the old man, and return to my training.

Or more like, I would prefer if you were to speak to me in a more familiar manner though.

The Divine Realm War seems to have been quite a long time ago and all.

Battles against Demon Lords are apparently waiting ahead after all.

  2. Chris should just whisper that to him or at least talk to him in private regarding the previous behavior of Sophia. If he knows what that means then at least Makoto has the sign or idea of her feelings.
    Makoto is not a dense one but the author made him one.

  7. Ah yes, sometimes men misunderstand something innocent for something more. Sometimes, they misunderstand something more for something innocent. What I mean is : SAY WHAT YOU MEAN DAMMIT! NOT EVERYONE HAS A MIND-READING LOG!

    …, ahem. Got carried away there.

    Still, Makoto’s density is pretty impressive. Not Neutron-star level yet, but probably depleted Uranium level. Will he graduate into elemental Osmium?

    Kind of a shame shields tend to not have good people skills. Try to fix that old man.

  11. I see, the princess tried to make a move but she had no idea that the nipponji already have a tea ceremony that has a meaning of formality and nothing else, thinking about it, for Makoto it should have looked like the formalization of the hero contract

    I sure do hope that this is the closest that this novel gets to being anti-West/racist/nationalist/etc. I’m not a prude or an inno, but it gets irksome when nationalism pops up out of context when you’re enjoying a read.

    1. It’s true though that we’ve been at war with almost everyone. Even Canada just 206 years ago.

Not to mention, he doesn’t find it strange that a princess invited him to her room and served him tea she prepared herself by herself. This guy is a blockhead for real.

    1. He still see it with the same mind that in the earth probably If Aya invited him to her room he wouldnt think hard about it instead of think it was like a omiai like situation.

    As an American, I approve of that comment about America. I wonder if this means he’ll eventually have a conversation with the Water goddess someday too? Though that might be no dice if he has to be an oracle or apostle or something. From the sound of it, she’s also a bit desperate for strong pieces. Hmm.

    I’m…not sure what Princess Sophia is trying to do with an obscure, outdated flirting technique. Takki obviously wouldn’t know, so he won’t pick up on the subtext, and anyone who would know would be a noblewoman like Chris. In which case…is this Sophia telling other ladies to back off? Because I can see this as drawing attention to an attractive find and causing other women to go for him as well.

    …Alternatively, the princess is too awkward and simply doesn’t know how to flirt with him beyond this super random old school method.

There is no way the water godess dont try to snatching him once he shows results after all it was told how the water country was the more weak among the countrys, and for sure she will offer op powers related to water and the hand of the princess. Of course Makoto will refuse for sure but i wonder what will Sofia do when she found out that he follows an evil godess? Will she give up? Will she think is her fault and try to convert him? I cant wait to see what happens.

      1. Considering his proficiency with water magic, he might just impress her a lot. Not sure how things will go from there, but Takki might be a surprisingly fun weirdo for her because he’s already used to talking casually with a goddess.

        1. If she aprove of him becoming a hero for her country even tough he is a apostle of Noa for sure she have expectations, after all it could cause her problems if it is found out. That is why for sure she will wait and see if he does something great and then try to recruit him.

  27. We really had an idea that Princess Sofia might harbor feelings toward Makoto.

    For me, i welcome her as part of Makoto’s harem bearing with the legal wife position.

    This will protect also Lucy and Sa-san well being for mistreatment from outside peers.

    And i feel Princess Sofia as a lover was very cuddly, Lucy was being the most aggressive and Sa-san as being the most teasing partner.
