My decision didn’t sway one bit.
The next day at breakfast, Tomoe was wild in joy for the cooked white rice, miso soup, grilled fish, and side dishes making up a japanese meal, and after eating that with everyone, I was facing Iroha-chan alone.
…Mio was sticking to me a whole lot, but I somehow managed to be alone with her.
Mio hasn’t had the chance to cook lately, so I should think about a way to let her enjoy her time, too.
Anyways, I told Iroha-chan about what the Kuzunoha Company can do for her.
It may look like I am saying something cool, but it is basically getting the approval of the Empress, Sairitz-san, beforehand, and then have Haruka-san go in hiding in Tsige living in a way that won’t be tied down to her family. That’s the choice I can prepare for her.
At this rate, Iroha-chan will without doubt be used by the Osakabe household as they want.
I don’t know if it will be as the head of the family, or as a move in the political strife of Lorel though.
A girl that doesn’t seem like she is even out of middle school is being forced to kill her own mother with her own hands, and then be used around at the convenience of the adults.
That’s way too unreasonable.
Even that might have been pity that Haruka-san instilled in me at that tatami room prison.
How scary.
Well, even if I am thinking about a variety of things now, in the end, I am still me.
Vivi-san, Tomoe, and the others seem to be worrying about me too.
But…
Iroha-chan smiled from the bottom of her heart at my proposal, and rejected it.
“No, Raidou-dono. After meeting you, being saved by you, and passing my days together with you, I once again learned the meaning of my life. It is true that the imposition might crush me, it may be a heavy destiny, but I myself chose the place to offer my body and future. Thus, this is not my duty, but the future I wish for… I have truly been in your care in this matter. I -Iroha- will never forget this debt of gratitude.” (Iroha)
Lowering herself and placing three fingers of both hands on the ground, the young girl lowers her head deeply.
No, this girl is the same as me, or even more mature than me.
No, maybe it is more accurate to say that she has become an adult?
The unreliableness that I saw in her the first time I met her…has somewhat left her.
I kind of feel that way.
“Is that so.” (Makoto)
“Yes.” (Iroha)
I ended up giving her a foolish proposal that would only make me feel better.
While holding a bit of shame in my heart, I nodded lightly to her words.
And then, what returned was a good and clear response.
She got me there.
“You have Izumo with you too, Iroha-chan. That’s why you can do your best, huh!” (Makoto)
A girl in love is strong.
I once again reconfirm the validity of these words that I often hear.
It is without doubt one of the causes after all.
“Feh?! Uhm…Y-Yes…” (Iroha)
What’s with that ‘uhm’.
She returned to the Iroha-chan that I know well.
“We had no choice but to hand over Ein-Khalif. That pushy part might fit as a head of the family, fufufu.” (Makoto)
That night, Ein-Khalif went to Iroha-chan instead of the Kuzunoha Company in a big gamble not knowing if it would go well or not.
He ate her self-defense sword, Hotarumaru, and made a pact with her.
Even if I were to bring it along with us, he would have simply been thrown into a random storage, and might not have seen the light of the day ever again.
Regardless of whether you tell me that you finally managed to go out from the dwarf village…
No matter if it were in my hands, it probably would have ended the same, and just thinking about it made me have no choice but to listen to what Iroha-chan said with a bitter smile.
Hotarumaru, huh.
Being able to heal the blade over time…there’s no way that’s the case, right? Moreover, it has already been eaten and doesn’t exist anymore.
Just thinking about it makes my stomach hurt.
“I-I’m sorry. At that time everything was so hectic, and I was desperate.” (Iroha)
“You must have been. I am not really blaming you. You managed to survive. That’s what’s most important.” (Makoto)
“Yes…” (Iroha)
Survive.
That word seems to have brought up complicated emotions from Iroha-chan.
For some reason, Iroha-chan is still staying at our lodging, but right now her household is in a big pandemonium.
Moreover, her mother is to be executed, and she is the one doing it.
However from what I heard before, Iroha-chan is not here because she wants to escape this, but the result of some sort of decision.
Then, this isn’t something I should butt myself into.
“Aah, right, it has been mayhem since arriving at Kannaoi, but did you read the documents I gave you before?” (Makoto)
“! Yes. The many villages that we stopped by on our way to Kannaoi. The difference between what I have heard and confirmed, with the actual state of affairs confirmed by Raidou-sama and the others… It was a truly mind-opening experience.” (Iroha)
The topic changing was something that Iroha-chan was grateful for. Her body tilted slightly forward.
“What I gave to you may not be the truth, you know?” (Makoto)
“Eh?” (Iroha)
“Just kidding. I won’t teach you in such a way this time around.” (Makoto)
“…”
“But you know, at times you will have to doubt the things that you have heard. That’s why, assess the people you can trust, people you can rely on. Or maybe raise people like that. It is truly an important thing -for the Iroha-chan from now on.” (Makoto)
No matter how beautiful of a front the hyuman society…no, the society as a whole creates, it is not assured that that’s exactly how it is.
There will always be an other side to the system, people that will create one. There will always be people who will go the outlaw path.
If it is on the level of a city in a country, it will always be the case.
“…I will keep that in mind.” (Iroha)
“It is not like the villagers or the village chiefs lied because they wanted to. They must have simply wanted to keep an insurance so that even if they get taxed heavily, they will still be able to face the next year.” (Makoto)
“Meaning that the feudal lord is not being trusted?” (Iroha)
“It is a bit different. Of course, if it were a widely-known wise ruler, and the tax were to be exactly as stipulated, they might have spoken a bit more truthfully. But even with that, I don’t think they would have revealed the exact numbers of the village.” (Makoto)
“Why-na no desu?” (Iroha)
“They have their own rules after all. You could even call it their lifestyle. Even if their harvest is a 10, telling the government and officials that it was an 8 is one of their ways of survival.” (Makoto)
In reality, the suspicion of the village was quite strong.
What Iroha-chan was told compared to their actual harvest and what they had stored for emergencies was quite different. They only reported 60% of it.
That has a lot to do with the relationship between Kannaoi and the villages until now.
It is not to the point that the Ministry of Justice itself is being hated, but the impression they have of the government officials at the end isn’t that good.
They have been taking quite a lot of bribes.
Until there’s some drastic reformations, there will never be a day when they report a 10.
I think that even an 8 would be on the good side.
“A survival strategy, you say.” (Iroha)
“It means that no matter how great of a big shot, inspecting strictly the villages to the point of stripping them down would be going too far. If the ones in control have a grasp of at least the amount of people, I think there can be a variety of ways to do things.” (Makoto)
Feelings and law are things that are difficult to draw a line to.
The words ‘it is important to seek the correct and the optimum’ are just kind of escapism.
“The incident this time will make Kannaoi busy for a while. Even so, the protection and teamwork with the neighboring villages will become of utmost importance for the future of the city.” (Iroha)
“Yeah.” (Makoto)
She really is one level-headed girl.
“But the villages had their respective problems, and their personalities and their form of relationship with the capital differed. I am by no means a chosen genius-desu. I definitely cannot answer everything correctly.” (Iroha)
“…”
Iroha-chan and Haruka-san have a difference in their very aptitudes to begin with.
There’s no need to put yourself down.
You are thinking by yourself plenty well.
“I don’t have the strength and charisma of my mother. That’s why I will do this slowly.” (Iroha)
Iroha-chan overlaps herself to the image of her mother as she said this strongly.
“Yeah.” (Makoto)
“Slowly. By the time I die, I would like it if the people can come and go from the villages to the capital without any worries, and are able to report an 80% of their harvest.” (Iroha)
“That’s a great goal.” (Makoto)
“Raidou-sama.” (Iroha)
Iroha-chan was looking at me with the same eyes gazing far away that Rembrandt-san sometimes shows.
“What?” (Makoto)
“I will offer my body to Kannaoi and Lorel… Together with Izumo-sama.” (Iroha)
“Yeah, I heard your resolve just a few moments ago.” (Makoto)
One that would be hard to believe came from a young girl.
“Actually, at that night, I announced it to the Ministry of Justice house. That I would accept all the decisions of the household.” (Iroha)
…
“The marriage with Izumo-sama is most likely already settled, so there was a bit of self-interest there. But I told them. No matter what it is, I would accept everything.” (Iroha)
Heavy. That’s too heavy.
An unpleasant feeling like the one when I met Haruka-san, as if my chest and throat were being held.
“…Ah!” (Iroha)
“Heh?” (Makoto)
“I am sorry! I didn’t intend to have you make such a painful face! I was trying to say that I would do my best in the things that will be decided from now on, so until that happens, let me be free, which is the selfish thing I wanted to spit out to throw all the job onto them. It was supposed to be a funny talk.” (Iroha)
Iroha-chan saw my face cloud a bit and hurriedly corrected herself.
But even if that’s really the meaning of it…those words of hers will by no means be a joke.
“…No no, if it is about funny talk, the bunny Iroha-chan would be most destructive.” (Makoto)
This girl can do pretty crazy stuff with just the word of Tomoe.
“Fuoo! T-That’s, I was swallowed by the atmosphere…” (Iroha)
We didn’t make her drink a single drop of alcohol, okay?
“But…” (Makoto)
“?”
“Even though it is a situation like this, you are being considerate to the feelings of a mere merchant like me. As expected of the Princess of the Ministry of Justice household!” (Makoto)
“Raidou-sama?” (Iroha)
“Iroha-hime.” (Makoto)
“Y-Yes?” (Iroha)
“Is there anything that this princess wants me to do?” (Makoto)
‘I am free’.
‘That’s why I came here’.
There’s no way that’s the case.
There’s no way this princess, who showed such resolve and experienced such a crazy incident, would pass her day together with us.
There’s not much someone like me can do for her.
But if it is something I can do.
If it is something only I can do in the time I am here.
I would like to offer it to this girl who was able to push me with that resolve despite that small body of hers.
“…So you saw through it-na no desu. Raidou-sama is incredible-desu.” (Iroha)
Not at all.
I am not as amazing as you.
Just like Rinon who is in Tsige living the best she can.
The children of this world are strong.
It is not like everyone is like that, but it moves me.
“I have somewhat of an idea what one of those wishes is. Want me to guess it?” (Makoto)
“No! Let me.” (Iroha)
“As you will.” (Makoto)
I return to my performance-like tone.
Well, one of those must be that. Izumo, right?
That lucky bastard.
I will train you to a level that is worthy of Iroha-chan.
“Uhm, you see, about the students of the Rotsgard Academy that for some reason came to save me, the students of Raidou-sama…” (Iroha)
“Fumu fumu.” (Makoto)
“Can you please let Izumo-sama remain here for a few days?!” (Iroha)
“Figures. Understood.” (Makoto)
“Ehehehehe.” (Iroha)
She is beet red.
She is already on the verge of exploding.
I wish you happiness!
Just in case, I will confirm with Sairitz-san if it is okay for these two to be together.
“The place they are staying is actually here, so when this talk is over, go ahead and take your sweet time with him.” (Makoto)
Should I put someone on them just in case?
Considering the tragedy from now on as well as the pissed off people.
Yeah, I at least hold the emotions of wanting her to have happiness here, you know?
“Also…” (Iroha)
?
Now, I don’t have an idea of what else she would want.
Something to do with the dungeon?
I did drag the mercenary group out after all.
“About Ein-Khalif which we were talking about before…!” (Iroha)
…
Aah.
Right, Ein-Khalif.
I completely forgot.
?
Wait.
What does she want to talk about involving that useless sword?
“Okay…?” (Makoto)
She was thinking about a whole lot of things it seemed, a good while of silence passed and I ended up letting out a questioning tone.
“It is the lost sword of the Wise and swordsman, Iori, but for some reason, I am currently in hold of it.” (Iroha)
“Right.” (Makoto)
Thinking back to it, 80% of the fault falls onto that useless sword.
It is apparently a sword used by a legendary swordsman, moreover, that person is a Wise, and Iroha-chan is a big fan of his.
Is it that?
Something like the Masamune, the Muramasa, the Kanesada, or the Magoroku?
A situation where they go ‘I have obtained the famous sword of that one historical person?!’.
I personally only thought of it as ‘Don’t go eating the Hotarumaru that might be that Hotarumaru, you useless sword’. <Hotarumaru is an actual japanese sword.>
It is not like that useless sword can transform into a person.
…It can’t, right?
Like, a swordsman in hiding protecting the princess transformed into a sword.
That’s bad, that’s a situation Tomoe would love a whole lot.
That damn Ein-Khalif can just stay as an useless sword like the useless sword it is.
“Moreover, I made a pact with it without the permission of Raidou-sama!” (Iroha)
Yeah, that was mostly the useless sword’s fault.
I see, even if he has become the dog of someone, that in itself is good, huh.
He is in a good position.
“Oooooooooooooooooooh.” (Iroha)
A girl of decent age has tears cascading from her eyes and raising a weird cry.
This is quite the sight.
“…”
“Uuuuuh, how much would it be?!” (Iroha)
…Ooh.
Right, I am a merchant.
I was completely in the mindset that I had given it to her.
Even though this was something given to me by a dwarf through Beren, this was a bit of an oops from me.
‘It is an useless doggy that’s not properly disciplined, but please raise it with patience, okay?’, is the kind of feeling I had from this.
“The price of Ein-Khalif, huh.” (Makoto)
“It is probably one of the top three most famous swords even in Lorel! But I just can’t return it to you now that it has gotten to this point! Moreover, the party in question is Raidou-sama who I owe so much! No matter the case, I plan on accepting any price you ask-na no desu!” (Iroha)
I don’t know the price of a katana, but if we were to judge by the worth of the strong weapons in Tsige, it must be quite expensive.
But, yeah…
Oh!
“Might as well just gift it to you in celebration of your marriage with Izumo…” (Makoto)
“Uhm, in Lorel, gifting a weapon as celebration for a marriage is a bit bad… Moreover, if it is Ein-Khalif level, it will certainly be bad.” (Iroha)
A rule of the country, huh.
I thought that was one rare instance of mine getting a good idea, but it was shot down.
“In that case…” (Makoto)
“I understand full well that it isn’t something that you can put a price on, and yet I still ask you of this.” (Iroha)
It truly is just a pain.
Ein-Khalif, the fact that he hasn’t said a single word in all this time is also one of the points of why he is one pain of a guy.
“…Then, Kannaoi’s…” (Makoto)
“Yes?” (Iroha)
“Can you tell the Kuzunoha Company about the things related to the Wise culture?” (Makoto)
“?”
“Things like sake, spices, cooking, clothing, metal manufacturing; the influence of the Wise is pretty heavy on this city, right?” (Makoto)
“Yeah.” (Iroha)
“Please leak that type of information to us in this long lasting exchange along with the recipes and other things included. Of course, we won’t do business with the use of that knowledge in Lorel.” (Makoto)
I went pretty big in my request there.
There’s a lot of people like Tomoe and Mio who are interested in the things in this city, so if they are interested, it would help out if we were to be told the way of making them in an amicable manner.
That’s uhm…meaning that you will continue having a relationship with Kannaoi-na no desu?” (Iroha)
“Of course. If you need something, just call, and the person in charge will be there at once.” (Makoto)
Iroha-chan’s eyes were wide open.
As expected, passing on the city’s noted products along with their manufacturing method to a merchant is way too excessive.
But it is hard to put a specific price, and there’s a lot of things I want in Kannaoi, but it is not like it is just one thing.
If I had to put it in words, it would be that I want a variety of daily use products.
But even if I were to list every single one of them…it would be way too much of a pain, and it wouldn’t end up in that much of a price.
It would probably be an amount of money that a single rare weapon in Tsige would easily exceed the price of if it were to come out in an auction.
It is as if I am being told to use all 10,000 yen in a candy store.
Just imagining it is a pain.
Well, I have no choice but to take everything.
If we have the original method of making, we can just add it to the current research of Asora, and simply localize the parts that are bad, and everyone should be able to have it easier.
“Raidou-sama.” (Iroha)
“What may it be?” (Makoto)
When I enter a negotiation, I end up being polite. This must mean that I have grown as a merchant in a sense.
A habit of sorts.
Rembrandt-san trained me quite a bit after all.
‘Things are not the only products’, this time’s demand had much to do with what I have learned from that person and the general concepts.
“I am sorry, but do you know arithmetic?” (Iroha)
“Hm?” (Makoto)
For some reason, she is looking at me as if I am pitiful.
For some reason, the useless sword is also directing that strange feeling to me.
…Why?!
By the way, Tomoe and Mio were super happy and going ‘yahoo!’ when a promissory note with the crest of the Ministry of Justice household had been given to us the other day.
See?!
If I think about it as the price to get rid of that useless sword, I would say I made a really good purchase!
I see it as a fair trade for a useless out of date leeching annoying dragon slaying sword.well,if it’s good enough for you then its worth it.
Que pirralha inteligente do kacete
So there is no salvation huh? So sad.
Hoho haruka will be good to add on kuzuniha. Co thought ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Izumo ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º)
A trade between people is merely the act of presenting items that the other party might be interested in.
The art of negotiation is simply trying to convince the opposite party that the value you believe your products are worth is indeed the value of those products.
The secret to a good negotiation is not when both sides feel equally screwed over, nor is it when both parties think that they managed to screw over the other guy.
A proper negotiation results in both parties believing that the products they exchanged are indeed equal in value, and the opposing party feels that they received the most value for their products.
That said, a trade where both parties feel like they managed to grab the longer end of the stick is still a better outcome than the first scenario, since there is a chance you will continue doing business with the party that you thought you managed to screw over.
And it’s also a valid strategy in the long run, since being considered a “sucker” is in itself a valid strategy for the long term goal of winning what is considered “The set of all games”.
Makoto might think that the sword is useless, but he is aware of its monetary as well as historic value.
However, he also believes that the fact the sword needs to eat other weapons or dragons, and the sword having an ego are negative points that reduce the value of the sword.
In his mind, gaining access to metalworking know-how, ingredients, and what not, carries the same value as the sword, which is why he believes that he is getting a great value out of this.
That’s not even getting into how said sword is basically utterly useless to anyone he knows, and in exchange he’s not only getting vast amounts of knowledge that his people and business could likely use ALL THE TIME, said knowledge and products would likely work in multiplicative values when combined with what they already know.
It’s basically him saying, here, take this item that I’ll likely never use and I’ll probably never get around to selling for an appropriate amount of money, and in exchange I’ll take this vast amount of knowledge on products that my consumer base/citizens will likely be using almost daily and will move my companies research efforts by leaps and bounds.
Yup.
The name of the chapter is actually quite fitting, since we’re seeing through Makoto’s eyes.
Just like you said, for Makoto, that sword is literally beyond trash tier, however it IS inherently valuable, as long as you can use it.
Hell, even if you can’t you can still stick it in a display case and charge people $$$ for the privilege of staring at a relic of one of the legends of Lorel.
Not to mentiin how valuable that useless sword that no one in asora would use acts as a wedding gift, a powerful political tool to get the both Ikusabe and Osakabe indebted to the company and him.
Good move, although he didn’t plan it (as always) but just went with the flow.
Just imagine saying to a French that you have a powerful cannon that belonged to Napoleon and it has a power that surpasses all the modern weapons. What kind of price would that French pay for it? It could easily involve the entire nation and start a war.
The sword is useless to people like him or transcendent that have similar strength to a nation. We are talking about a eco-friendly nuke with historical value. He sold it for knowledge and technology…, right nice but he created a connection with Iroha, no rather he gave her a promise to help her out. Iroha now has a back up of the ‘second god’ of this world. She asked him ironically about arithmetic because of this.
Our mc down-values himself, the company and powerful weapons and tools. He treats as ‘useless’ tools that could allow a nation to start a world conquest. The ‘useless’ sword that could eat material and weapons enough to become strong to cut down supreme dragons….
Hm, I think should be ok make a shop in Kannaon, that form the contact with Iroha will be more frecuent, same with the adventurers, the labyrith and Izumo could visit more easely Iroha.
Thanks for the hard work Reigokai-san
And
Author-san
I think that he’s very compatible with the sword though, I didn’t think about it at first because I didn’t know that it was a flying sword. being a flying sword doesn’t need the holder to be a swordman, in addition to that, it can be the ideal trashcan for the Eldwarfs, the incident of Arosa when the Orc died was because they were sloppy with disposing of waste items to begin with, and just counting the high-level items that Makoto uses on daily basis(drupnirs and coats) that store and suppress his magical power are enough to make it the strongest sword of all times.
Thanks for the chapter btw ☻
sorry for my english but it is so unfair for Haruka to die, the hero is the one who needs to die, he was controlling her and she had to free will to act this should be enough for Haruka to avoide any punichment but no she will die while the hero will live a happy life and her daughter does not thinks about revenge agaibst who who will cause her mother to die, lie what the hell
sorry i mean she had no free will
I am sorry… I meant… THREE NEW CHAPTER IN THE RAW..!!!
and new extra chapter
TWO NEW CHAPTER IN THE RAW..!!!
as a woman this iroha girl alone is better than lily, hibiki, sairitz, root(woman mode) combined
Thanks for the chapter! I check NU for an update every month or so, so I must have missed these by a couple of days last time, or just totally misread the date of release. I’m glad to see we have updates, even if only a few for now.
Thanks for the chapter, ohh man how I missed this loooong ass comment section, I always said to myself to read the side stories but actually never did, I now have the time for reading all of them.
I just finished reading the whole WN and you posted another one, guess i’m lucky lol
Thank ya for the good work !!!
That’s it for 2020 guys. See you all next year!
Just binge read from where manga left off, like chapter 48 or so, until now….
i love this novel.
i hope we see a lot more of root, tamaki and the goddess in the future.
Thanks for chap
Honestly i don’t want the drama with haruka but its better she be alive, her immunity to the brainwash now or ability to recover will help incase trashmoki targets here again and it will be easier for him on newer targets like sairitz and iroha so. All in all i still feel mc should just off trash he’s the kind who can hurt and break people in a worse way than the girl hero.
Um are we getting any updates this month or has the author gone MIA?
Um is the author ok?
Now to wait for author to either die soon or of old age at this rate…. hope it picks up
So the chapter is update monthly ???
he should have asked for haruka as an slave in exchange for the useless sword since both are more ore less army worth power
Happy B-day to Misumi Makoto OwO
Thank you Reigokai.
Thank you author.
Hello. We meet again.
Nope, nobody cares about that sword OwOb I hope this arc is already over…
didnt realize it was back to just today.
Same..so late to the party..
Never thought the author would be churning out regular updates.. 😅
thanks for this chapter…i’m really hoping the author is back now and we’ll see more chapters soon!
Saving haruka is good though. Killing her is just a waste of potential fighting force especially now that the goddess’s chosen hyumans are already on the move.
This chapter feels very shallow, so many words and yet anything concludes or even happens. Hope the author will up his game back to epicness.
Thanks for the chapter. Makoto is a useless merchant indeed because his merchant values is more of charity rather than competition and profit sadly
You know that’s true, but it’s also sort of enforced by circumstance. The citizenry of most of the countries we’ve seen are too impoverished to create a market for anything. If he wants anyone but nobles and hyper rich to benefit from their medicine, he has to sell it at or below cost. Kuzunoha brings enormous value to places it sets up shop, and by enriching people it actually creates a consumer base for his store. That’s what happened in Koran, and why they chose to side with Tsige in the revolution.
So he’s ‘useless’ as a merchant but fairly effective as a ruler, which isn’t really ‘sad’. He could gouge the hell out of some nobles if he chose to do so. If he wanted to go full merchant, just have some influential families turn to stone, but that shit is still going to roll downhill as long as there’s a hill for shit to roll on. His best option is probably to take over bug’s world; go the beneficent god-king route.
Of course it’s he started the company because he found curses unpleasant rather than because he cared about people, and (as far as I remember) he doesn’t seem to think of Tomoki’s charm as a curse for whatever reason. He did seem to find it unpleasant as well, though.
Thanks for the translation
Yeah. And he said he’s going to have a continued presence in her city, something the other major powers tried and failed to do (except the demons, they succeeded, but that’s secret). She got way more than she was expecting, and she got it for free. No, it’s more like she’s getting paid extra to get what she desperately wants.
Hell’oh, thank you for your hard work! I look forward to read the next chapter!
Thanks for the chapter 👍
Finally. Thanks for the translation but who is minato in the previous chapter? Also its sad that haruka die she would make one heck of a trainer in asora. Kn a side note i think azusa have a higher chance become a person then that damn sword
Minato is one of the four arke.
is she pitying him because she thinks he sold the cheap sword cheap?
Yeah. And he said he’s going to have a continued presence in her city, something the other major powers tried and failed to do (except the demons, they succeeded, but that’s secret). She got way more than she was expecting, and she got it for free. No, it’s more like she’s getting paid extra to get what she desperately wants.
I hope the whole execution will be an illusion made by tomoe if she can then makoto will put haruka in asora and say to her: you died but reincarnated in my asora hahahaha…
So the author started working on this again? Are they stuck at home with Corona and have nothing better to do than to finally update their story they left on hiatus for so long? Not that I’m complaining.
Thank you very much for translating this.
Thanks for the chapter desu~
Of course Waka-sama knows arithmetic! He made a great bargain deal for Wise culture in exchange for a useless sword!
You truly understand your Waka Mio!!!!!!!!!!
Haruka’s “Wings of Saint” ability is limited, but do we know how limited? Like did she have a lifetime 100 uses or is it on a per-fight basis or does it recharge over time? I’m just picturing her beheading becoming a bit of a circus if it takes dozens of different lethal attacks to finish her. I anticipate Haruka getting revived and either be spirited to Asora by Tomoe or join Apple, but if not I’m ambivalent. She’s not the most interesting character or development on hold right now by a long shot. Like, what’s going to happen with the temple of divine balls and the follower who’s betrayal will be sudden but inevitable. Or what’s up with Amelia’s chimerization.

Nepu you’re late.
This chapter felt weird…..anyway thanks for the tl.
Thanks for the translation as always, well now we have a proper explanation for the last chapter, it wasn’t just a feeler but a shown of Iroha decition and resolve. Well Izumo now is time to increase your training another notch…try and survive it, you are lucky if they don’t have you learning household maintenince stuff.
RIP izumo…. he might seriously die with his new training plus a bit of scolding when he called makoto an ogre in the guise of a merchant
HAHAHAHA, he already has to fear normal training, the poor guy will learn the meaning of hellish camp on his own, only the Forest Oni will understand the hell he will be put on, the funny thing is that the rest of the class migth join him out of consideration or for seeking strengh.
Man I really want Haruka to be saved. This whole executing her even though they know she was being controlled and know who the real culprit is and forcing her daughter to execute her is fucking stupid. Makoto mentioned Sairitz and I just remembered that she is supposed to be this incredibly smart and cunning person. I can only hope that she shows up to the execution and pardons Haruka while exiling her to say Tsige to atone for what she did while under mind control. Surely she’s smart enough to know that this execution the Ministry of Justice is doing is stupid theatrics to distract people instead of focusing on the actual problem that another country’s hero more or less has unofficially declared war on them. Also forcing a child to kill her own mother is not going to go down well with the public. The public already doesn’t like the Ministry of Justice much, to the point that they are only reporting 60% of their harvests to them which means they aren’t paying their full taxes. Now if they make a child kill their own mother, it doesn’t matter if they say it’s to strengthen the child’s position as the new family head, the public will think that’s going too far and at best they may begin protests claiming that what the Ministry is doing is tyranny and at worst they may actually rise up and rebel. So therefore if Sairitz shows up and pardons Haruka while condemning the Ministry of Justice, the public will say she is a merciful and smart Empress and support her more, she reigns in the Ministry of Justice and can use this to exert more control over them and she gets Makoto, Kuzunoha company, Iroha and Haruka in her debt. She gets multiple birds with one stone.
On another note, I don’t remember a thing about that sword. But if Makoto can get rid of a useless sword in exchange for knowledge of Wise culture like food recipes and manufacturing methods of things like metal and clothes.
The sword is supposed to be a powerful dragon slayer, but there are two problems: makoto can hear the sword talking all the time, because he has all language comprehension (and the sword talks too much), and it was demanding to be fed with good weapons, which he didn’t want to bother doing.
But man, the dissonance in the value of the sword between makoto and iroha was real funny.
Yah if they just threw it in a random storehouse he might just eat every other weapon stored in there!
But then he might be able to make use of the useless sword and have him eat the faulty products meant to be disposed~ they said that trash for dwarfs are treasures for humans.. i wonder how einklalif thinks of those faulty weapons~
Makoto can still use the sword, as an arrow like a certain archer(???) Which is probably super effective against root.
Do you understand how big this event was? They cannot sweep it away. Haruka was indeed under mind control, but will the public accept that? Can it even be proven in the first place? Can it be believed/considered credible? Should everyone go “oh well what’s done is done” and forget it? That will never fly no matter how you look at it. But what she did is an established fact to everyone. Not executing her is not an option. That might not be “fair” but what’s “fair” doesn’t even measure on that scale.
I mean… have you even considered what sort of effect that would have on their society to pardon Haruka at this point? That cannot and will not be done – or even seriously considered.
I mean, Tomoe could just make a really convincing illusion of her and ‘port her to Asora.
There is a little thing called testimonies, if there are multiple (recently dis-charmed) people that can give testimony there will be a case that, yes brainwashing citizens and staging a revolution with them is a thing that trash and the princess trash (or just the princess trash, probably just the princess trash) did do. Presumably the judicial system in the place heavily influenced by earth works similar to our judicial system, this would most likely result in some form of acquittal due to nobody involved being in control of their actions.
Also responding to an earlier statement of yours, There is a large difference between good ol’ George’s way of killing characters with some unresolved threads and character arcs (which is something that only works because he has the reputation of doing that in the first place) and killing a semi-major named character who we’ve only found out part of their personality a couple chapters ago, combine this with the fact that even Martin, roulette wheel of death himself, didn’t go around killing major characters before they’ve at least started a character arc and that this story is very clearly not that type of story, have you read it?
Which brings me to the next point WHAT DRAMA? We have had a couple chapters to get acquainted with the bare basics of non-charmed Haruka, and 2 chapter (with a gap of COMIC RELIEF in between them) that mention that it is a thing that is going to happen, due to the government IGNORING THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE ENTIRE INCIDENT AND BEHAVING LIKE A BUNCH OF ASSHOLES THAT WANT A BELOVED DAUGHTER TO KILL HER INNOCENT LOVING DAUGHTER. If this was a story written by good old george (or anybody from the dark souls team) they would go through with it, but this story is not that type of story and this author isn’t that type of author.
*INOCCENT AND LOVING MOTHER
I was a bit mad writing that portion and didn’t notice
I english good
What and you think the Ministry of Justice can sweep under the rug the fact that this was all brainwashing done by a foreign power and their hero? Hell no. As somebody already replied to you, there are people that can provide testimonies. You think the people that got mind controlled would keep quiet or that the Ministry can silence all of them? Especially since many of them were yelling out that they were doing this for “Tomoki-sama” and it was his will while in the presence of countless bystanders and witnesses.
The Ministry is clearly just throwing people under the bus with this whole execution because they want to distract the public from their own incompetence in not being able to stop this while at the same time ignoring the real cause of this. Executing someone who is practically the main pillar of the country’s military forces that keep the country safe from invasion by other countries like Gritonia would have a much more profound effect on society than having Haruka pardoned would. Gritonia and/or Tomoki clearly want to take over Lorel Union so if Haruka gets executed then the threat she poses that keeps them from outright declaring war and marching on the country would be gone and would be practically inviting Gritonia to invade them. If Haruka gets pardoned, even she has to also accept exile, the fact that she would be alive would give Gritonia pause from doing anything since she could ignore her exile and come back to protect the country or she could even use the freedom of being exiled to directly attack Gritonia while their own forces are busy invading Lorel Union.
Thanks Tacos I also forgot that they were indeed screaming “Hero” Trash’s name literally everywhere, combined with the fact the Tomoe used the incident as a test for her revival thing and you got people that WEREN’T brainwashed that can say that Trash is the one who did this.
Well, Makoto taking the only valuable thing he sees from Lorel in exchange for a sword he wants to get rid of, counts as a win.
…Don’t listen to them, Raidou. They’re valuing dirt.
Thanks for the chapter
As the saying goes, a man trash can be another man treasure, for hm that sword is useless compared with what he wants, for Loren is the oposite.
Truly, the best kind of trade. Take my wife… Please?
Long time reader, first time commenter. Thanks, love your work.
Took me a bit to get the ‘“I am sorry, but do you know arithmetic?” (Iroha)’ line.
All the nations have been hellbent on getting the Kuzunoha Company to have a relationship with them in one way or another, and here he says he’ll “continue having a relationship with Kannaoi-na no desu” just like that. On top of the sword, on top of the easy access to Kuzunoha, on top of all he’s done recently, all he’s asking for is stuff you can get by wandering around and asking questions. Iroha is getting everything she wants for free. And more. Makoto, wants to be rid of the sword, likes Kannaoi, and doesn’t need any more reason (compensation) for ditching the sword and having a presence in the area.
Makoto has a self sufficient company, so he acts differently from other business folk. He’s in business as “something to do,” as a hobby, as a charity, as the default thing one does in an isekai experience. Most other Representatives are in business to survive the struggle, to advance ambitions, to achieve fame/glory/wealth. His priorities trip people up. He has all his needs met, and most of his wants too. He acts on whims and fancy, because nothing threatens him. Things might threaten the people around him and cause him to act, but he himself is untouchable.
I like the theory that he has a huge inferiority complex thanks to his Earth life. His parents were beautiful, his older sister was beautiful, his younger sister was cute as a button, his entire archery club was beautiful, and he was average, but now he’s in a wold where Everyone is beautiful. So now he has Phenomenal Cosmic Powers, but an ity bity ego. The worlds react to him, more than he reacts to the worlds. The camera is on Makoto, but the story is about the worlds’ reactions to him. And something about punching a god in the face, there’s that too probably.
“…It feels as if Raidou-san gets involved in the mysteries of the world one after the other. I feel like you are having more of an adventure than adventurers.” (Toa)
Tnx for the chapter!!
girl ! if you become a merchant without knowing arithmetic , how the heck you do a simple calculation !?
girl, please, i finish the hardest of merchant guild test in one day without breaking a sweat
Not mention, he got a perfect score
He doesn’t want Haruka to die caused to him and to me as well is that I hate the type that self-sacrifice and every thing would be well. Being a parent killer is heavy for a Iroha and furthermore they are also making her carry all of Kannoi.
None of us wants Haruka to die that way, methinks. She should be given the responsibility to atone for her actions. That weird culture of theirs is shit
>None of us wants Haruka to die
I do want Haruka to die. It is far better storytelling. This isn’t the generic insekai story. Loading up on ” is going to die” type drama, then “saving them in the end” is the generic bullshit they should absolutely avoid. You can’t take even a bit of drama seriously if they pull that card. Tsuki is better than that.
You know why everyone loved Game of Thrones (til they ran out of book material and “quick traveled” to the ending)? Because that author isn’t afraid to “kill his babies” like so many other are. No one wears plot armor. Plus they throw out other generic tropes like the garbage those tropes really are. He wants you to take the story – and the world it creates – seriously.
If the author here is going to save Haruka in the end, they shouldn’t even have started this “Haruka will die and at the hand of her daughter” stuff to start with. I will think a whole lot less of this story and this author. But I have faith in them thus far. On the other hand killing Haruka adds a lot of dynamics to this story. Her death and the things that lead up to it (Tomoki especially) will play a big role in things that happen. Their kingdom may go to war, etc. It won’t be quickly forgotten for sure.
Furthermore the greatest art is never, ever made by considering/speculating “what the fans want”. That’s where so much generic garbage comes from.
Dude, do you jack off to daughters killing their own mothers? cuz you sound like one
@bk3k – The problem with that idea is that Haruka is nobody’s baby. If she’s killed off it would be a case of “why even introduce the character?” The willingness of Lorel’s politicos to throw victims under the bus has already been demonstrated. Tomoki’s trash status has been excessively demonstrated. Haruka dying when everyone accepts her death as inevitable would have less impact than the deaths of random apple girls four five and six. At best you can argue that her death will demonstrate Makoto’s slide towards callous disregard for human life, but we’ve been on that song for 270 odd chapters. The most impactful deaths have been in parallel universe dreams, mini tomoe and I guess Naval? Even freaking Sofia isn’t fully dead. If you want a meaningful death then just pretend Shiki died fighting Lancer or something.
What I think is that yes, Haruka really needed to die to further strengthen the plot. Like the person above said, great art never follows what the fans want, that would only produce generic garbage.
However, at least Makoto should’ve intervened from the shadows so that at least Iroha doesn’t have to do it herself.
But, as the author made it this way in which Iroha herself has resolved to it, then it’s probably for the best. Especially for the character development of Iroha. A future ruler needs to have the resolve to do the right thing even at the expense of his/herself and their loved ones.
@iczzephyr
Even if it’s character developement Matricide would weigh heavily on Iroha, even if it’s for character building. You can never forget the act of killing your own Mother especially if she was known to be under someone influence (forgot if she knew or not) but anyways if we go down the path of her killing her mother then whos to say this shit won’t happen again this time involving iroha as the victim even if they get rid of the current incense just give it to her via secret adminisration and bam she’s corrupted just like her mother.
I believe that if her Mother were to live she can be that extra safety to protect Iroha from that drug which she was a victim of and allow for a greater if not better advisory for Makoto later down the line especially towards counter acting the drug or influence of trashmoki
I need to reread some of this. I already forgotten what Ein-Khalif is.
then you better reread this chapter 255, since Ein-khalif first appear there at the middle end
I’m rereading it whole from the start. still at vol2, thoo XD
Right? Hahaha although he knows more complex math than her…!
But its not like he’s in dire need of gold when his own storage houses are overflowing with it and he’s splurging alot coz he doesnt know where to spend them, and information is also a type of payment as rembrandt taught him
Eh? I replied on the wrong comment! Was supposedly for JokerEND’s comment uwu
Just get to it.I’m sure he’s better at math than 99.99% of the population. That is a legendary sword, it’s priceless. Save Haruka and put her to use. I can’t stand herbivores. Worthless. He could do a lot more with Haruka alive than dead. What was that about having Haruks in Tsige? There’s no way I believe he wants her to die. Thanks for the chapter, came out strange to me.
>I can’t stand herbivores.
Haruka is only 1 women out of millions (or whatever the world population is at / 2). Because she has been introduced, “WE MUST SAVE HER!” LOL no.
And somehow you accuse MANkoto of being the Herbivore here? Take that grass out of your own mouth first.
Thank for the chapter ^^
Just notice Reigo’s other translation project’s main character also named Makoto, this is the third one? XD
Thanks for the chapter.
I’m yet hoping that Makoto saves to Haruka, I don’t want she will die T.T
Thanks~~
Adult-like and child-like at the same time
Im so pissed with the last comment of iroha “im sorry , but do u know arithmetic”
Makoto just say 999 billion gold coins.
Thank you for the chapter..
thanks for the chapter, Reigokai-san!
ufufu, it’s indeed priceless, but as long as he can rid himself of that useless babbling sword, all is well that ends well
Thanks for the chapter!!😉
I thought that if the husband give a sword as a gift it will be a sign of fidelity to his spouse but by the looks of it the Wise taught them some wrong ideas😂
>I thought that if the husband give a sword as a gift it will be a sign of fidelity to his spouse
Perhaps that’s the real problem. She has a fiance, but it isn’t Makoto. So getting a sword – a very famous/treasured sword – from Makoto instead of her fiance…
Huh, i thought it more, if i am cheating cut me with that sword, kind of story
Thanks
Cmon man, we need Haruka. Need milf for the harem party. It would be amusing to see the interaction between Haruka, Tomoe and Mio i believe.
Dont execute her!! Just mochikaeri pls
execute her … then revive her or makes her into undead and have her to join makoto’s harem…
that way we can have a necro-milf-waifu…
…
when i thinks about it again, this is gross…
Dude you got wrong novel, only van-sama do that
No we don’t need her. Rather it is better for the story for her to die as it is.
We don’t need no thots man leaving aside what the trash may have done to he really she had a husband and a child no way mofo
Thnks for the ch!
Thx for the chapter !!
Image being looked down like an uneducated cretin by a young girl…
Stop, I’m getting excited
I want Waka-sama to look at me like that…
>///<
Yay. Thought i’d just check randomly and lo and behold we have a Tsuki chapter!!!!!
Many thanks as usual for all the great work
Thanks a lot for the chapter, i completely forgot how frustrated he was with the sword.
Thx for chapter , i hope there have a way to save haruka , kinda pity been use by that shitty hero
Ops sry comment wrong place
He’s just happy to not have that noisy sword around, asking to be fed young, innocent, virginal Eldwa made weapons, and now a child is looking at him like he doesn’t know how to math….
She doesn’t understand that she’s buying swampland in Florida that was used as a dumping ground for chemical wastes.
Thank you for the chapter.
Im legit gonna be so pissed if Haruka miraculously evades being executed
For real? I pity here though, because she is just a victim, she didn’t kill anyone after she regain her sanity.
If it’s me, I would save here if she wanted to like Makoto din.
Thanks for the new chapter!!
Poor Makoto, all he wants is to be free at last of swordbabble…
Thank you very much for the chapter.
Hopefully the author will keep them coming.
I wanted to become a HIKIKOMORI but it wasn’t meant to be 😩
Hopefully, since the author had release 4 new chapter so far, including the extra once a week, this might be a sign that the author will finaly resume his work.
Thanks
Thank you… so glad that the author resume writing
Thank u always for ur great work…
^^…
le botto strike !
CAN HE KILL THOSE 2 MOTHER FUCKERS HEROES

I would’ve liked to be one of the first few commenters-tsu, but by internet got cut off…
To think I would be late to comment on my own story more than once… >—<
