“Uoooh, uoooh!”
[Soldier, either run away a bit more cool or comical!] (Libra)
Lanpeach ran while shouting pathetically, and Libra told him this with a baffled stare while floating parallel to him.
Lanpeach doesn’t have the physical strength to carry a person even if it is a girl, so he ran out of breath pretty fast and was suffering here.
(Shut up, Libra. Do you understand the pain of carrying a person while running? Forget being embarrassing or being shy about it, this is just plain suffering! There are scenes in manga and stuff where the bean-sprout protagonist would princess carry the heroine, but that’s impossible! They would definitely drop the heroine without even walking ten steps!) (Lanpeach)
‘Don’t joke around, you’ -is the minor villain glare he directed at Libra while sending those thoughts to her in pain.
His arms are already at their limit after all.
They are trembling and, if he didn’t have Physical Combat Level 1, there would be no adjustment to moving his body efficiently, and he would have dropped Chihiro.
He would have definitely dropped her if it was his previous body.
[You are way too honest! It would be cooler if you were to wrap this up a bit more vaguely.] (Libra)
Libra laughed at how Lanpeach didn’t try to act tough here while poking his head repeatedly. It was plain annoying.
(Don’t joke aro—gefuh. M-Managed to create distance.) (Lanpeach)
He coughed and fixed his breathing while using his overhead view to check whether enemies were chasing after him without having to look behind him.
That action of his that was like teleportation when he used Instant must have shocked them more than expected.
He ran for around 20 meters in the corridor and the corner is right there.
“T-Thank you, Lan. I didn’t think you would save me.” (Chihiro)
“There was no choice of abandoning you. Don’t worry.” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach answered Chihiro dryly.
If he were to fail in saving the hostage, there would be a penalty when he clears the event after all.
He had to get all the experience he can or there’s the chance he would be checkmated in this world that’s in nightmare mode.
And so, his ears being a bit red is because he is tired. There’s no other reason.
“I will worry. I will do my best by your side from here on, Lan!” (Chihiro)
Chihiro was sure she would be abandoned or would be hit by a stray bullet and die, so she was decently grateful towards Lanpeach.
And then, she felt ticklish at the embarrassed Lanpeach and smiled unconsciously.
“More importantly, it is okay to put you down now, right? Just head up the stairs. Can you do that?” (Lanpeach)
“Ah, yes. But what are you going to do, Lan?” (Chihiro)
Lanpeach lowered Chihiro, finally being able to take a breath.
He readied the G1 Assault Rifle he was carrying on his shoulder, directed the muzzle towards the corridors he went through, and answered in a low tone.
“I will do this.” (Lanpeach)
A number of enemies showed up from the corridor.
Fools that thought that they would be able to defeat Lanpeach if they were to chase after him even if they are defenseless.
He stretched his arm that was holding the G1 Assault Rifle, and pulled the trigger without hesitation with a calm face.
He narrowed his aim towards the head of the enemy and the muzzle roared.
Bullets flew about and showered the way too careless enemies.
“Gya!”
“Gefu.”
“Gah.”
Bullets lodged into the head of 3 people, spraying blood, and the enemies collapsed with a somersault.
“Wawa, it is Lanpeach!”
“Stop, this is bad.”
The enemies that were rushing stopped their feet in a hurry and backed off.
He added deterring shots near the feet of the enemies that tried to get to cover, and after narrowing their actions further, Lanpeach turned around and ran away.
[3 kills. Nicely done, Soldier. The enemies have faltered greatly with that just now.] (Libra)
“Of course they would hesitate with how easy their comrades died. More importantly, I am running low on magazines. I only have 2 left.” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach was completely unfazed even after killing people. He was instead worried about the remaining magazines that are his lifeline.
Libra observed this mental state of his with interest. She judged that this wasn’t a bluff and he was maintaining his sanity, so she was interested in how he could have such a mental state, but she didn’t show that on the outside and just kept a smile.
[You have to replenish them. But you have no choice but to manage somehow with what you currently have right now.] (Libra)
“Are there no magazines lying around? Or maybe a weapon merchant hiding somewhere?” (Lanpeach)
[It doesn’t seem like there’s a rip-off female weapon merchant.] (Libra)
They turned the corner running while having a casual chat.
“Kya! Wa, this is?!”
Chihiro, who had gone ahead, stopped in place, so he smacked her shoulder lightly to calm her down.
“It is okay. They are allies. Come on, we have to go quickly or I am going to be carrying you like a sack of potatoes this time.” (Lanpeach)
“Uhm, that sounds fine too since I would be able to stick close to you.” (Chihiro)
Lanpeach chuckled at the pretty effective answer she gave and they ran off.
“Begin the operation.” (Lanpeach)
The things that Chihiro saw nodded back.
◇◇
“You guys, chase after him already. He is alone anyways. He is only got brats. We win by just killing Lanpeach!”
“Y-Yeah. Come on, don’t run away, Lanpeach!”
“You Trashpeach!”
“I will make you Swiss cheese and decorate you outside!”
Tsuyoshi shouted and the members that were spaced out were brought back to their senses, shouted, and chased after him.
They have 30 people and they have only 1.
There’s no way they would lose, so the noisy running of the subordinates echoed as they entered the corridor.
Tsuyoshi was watching this while being angry and feeling fear towards that unknown attack.
And so, he stayed in place even when he shouted all those big words, and acted as if he was standing by as the boss.
(What was that? There was 10 meters of distance between me and Lanpeach. How was I punched? Magic? It is the same as before. That guy…he can use an unknown technique.) (Tsuyoshi)
Whenever Tsuyoshi is in front of Lanpeach, his body gets heavy as if he were inside water, and would falter from fear, but he reprimanded his own heart.
(It is the end if I fail here. I have reached the bottom of the cash I stole from Lanpeach. I will kill him here and get this base or I am going to die!) (Tsuyoshi)
He can’t withdraw.
Also, this base is practically empty.
There’s no way Lanpeach could block this by himself, and he also had his other comrades enter from the other entrances.
There’s no way they will lose.
“Jakots-san, can you go kill him as well? Let’s kill him quickly and party.” (Tsuyoshi)
“Yeah… Right. I will go slowly so I don’t steal the thunder of your subordinates.” (Jakots)
The man called Jakots showed a cautious smile, answered dryly, and looked at the corridor the subordinates of Tsuyoshi entered.
(That attack… Just how did he do it? He appeared suddenly. Teleport? No, if he could use such advanced magic, he wouldn’t be rotting in a place like this. Then what? Illusions. He is most likely an illusion user. The one I was talking to was an illusion and the person himself turned invisible to approach Tsuyoshi. It is most likely something like that.) (Jakots)
The reality is that Lanpeach ran away normally after he showed himself.
If he could use Teleport or some other movement spell, he wouldn’t have done something like that.
Jakots reached this conclusion, but…his instincts were warning him that he is a troublesome opponent.
(Oh well, fine. I will leave his traps to the fools and go ahead of them.) (Jakots)
He would work as a mercenary and sometimes as an assassin, and at times as an explorer. He grinned and sunk into his own shadow.
[Shadow Traverse].
“Well then, I will go kill Lanpeach. Don’t forget the reward.” (Jakots)
“Y-Yeah, I leave it to you.” (Tsuyoshi)
Jakots saw how Tsuyoshi faltered and took a step back after seeing Jakots sinking into a shadow which is physically impossible.
Jakots laughed mockingly and disappeared into a different corridor.
◇◇
—As for the people chasing after Lanpeach…
They hesitantly peeked into the corner of the corridor, were relieved that Lanpeach was not there, and shouted again as if to reignite themselves.
“Trashpeach has run away! Chase after him!”
“Yeah, I will murder that bastard!”
They thought Lanpeach really was at his limits, went over the corpses of their comrades, and ran through the corridor.
The men also can’t turn back just like Tsuyoshi.
They ran away after stealing cash from Lanpeach. They also heard about how they have a new generator in the complex.
They saw Lanpeach turn the corner of the corridor without looking back.
They could only see Lanpeach as their key to make money.
They wondered how much a new generator would make them and dreamed of how much they would get if they were to get their hands on it.
They chased after Lanpeach, corroded by greed, and turned the next corner.
…And they unconsciously stop there.
“W-What are these guys?”
“Scarecrows?”
“A…trap?”
In front of the men…at the end of the corridor…there were rabbits standing there.
Not normal rabbits, but deformed ones that are like cute plushies of around 1 meter in size.
They were wearing camo clothes and camo helmets, and were holding long square silver guns that were bigger than them.
It is fiendish for a cute rabbit to be holding. And there were two muzzles side by side.
“Encounterabbit.”
The rabbits directed their muzzles, muttered this cutely just like their appearances state…and pulled the trigger.
Thunderous sounds rang the next instant.
Sounds like tiles falling down rang in the corridor…
“Gyaha!”
“Gah!”
“Wawa.”
The men were smashed up and turned into scraps of meat.
The guns that the rabbits were holding showed fierceness fitting their appearance. It not only opened holes in human bodies, but crushed them.
They would punch big holes in the concrete walls, create cracks, annihilating the enemies mercilessly.
The bullets shot had power like that of an artillery shell, and easily pierced through bulletproof vests like they were paper.
Scraps of meat flew about in the corridor. The screams of the men disappeared within the gunshots and the mist of blood, and their lives scattered.
That power is not something that should be directed at a person and not something that should be used within residential premises.
The people who fortunately hadn’t reached the corner of the corridor were pale white at this sudden massacre, and hurriedly turned around to run away…
But the face of a rabbit poked out from a room in the middle of the corridor.
It was looking straight at them with its cute round eyes. Its submachine gun had its short muzzle poking out.
“P-Please wai—”
*Tatata*
*Tatata*
The screams of the remaining people were erased by the dry gunshots. Their bodies had holes opened all over and fell to the ground.
The rabbits confirmed that all the people had perished, and directed their noses up, sniffing.
“Alpha team, reporting. We have wiped out the enemies-usa**.” <Usa is short for usagi in Japanese which means rabbit. Left it because it was too good not to. Guns and usa go hand in hand.>
The rabbits hopped away from the place.
