Orimira attacked with a beam from her spear, dealing damage. I was surprised. My current stats should be untouchable, even against multiple last bosses.
“See? I told you! Her combat power, fighting instincts, and looks all surpass Pla-san!” (Mira)
Mira yelled indignantly from a distance while scooping souffle with a spoon. Sorry, I heard you before, but I didn’t think it was true. Also, comparing beauty standards with a pretty girl is off-limits!
“Our gear is the top-tier Galaxy Series. It’s designed for planetary combat, so the stats can approach five digits with a pure power pack. I can only use about 30% of its potential, though, since pure power packs are expensive. Still, the Galaxy Series reduces enemy defense by 30% when fully equipped, so it is one of my favorite pieces of equipment. And it sometimes ignores defense altogether. Oh, and the chocolate sauce is mine.” (Mira)
She explained while gently pouring chocolate sauce on her souffle, but her words made little sense. Are individuals allowed to wear planetary-grade weapons? Can I just go home? Also, that phrasing sounds straight out of a game, Mira!
Orimira pointed her knight’s spear at me as I was dumbstruck. Sensing another beam about to fire, I shifted into a zigzag movement to dodge.
“Buuuurst mooooode!”
“It has a machine gun mode too?!” (Lanpeach)
Her voice rang out as if pulling it from the depths of despair, and this time, the beam turned into a flurry of small light bullets. I turned my face to dodge, feeling the danger of it, and the stray bullets behind me created new craters.
“What insane power!” (Lanpeach)
I raised my hand and activated a psychic barrier as the explosion’s shockwave spread like a sandstorm.
[Telekinetic Barrier]
The incoming light bullets were stopped by the invisible shield. I quickly deflected them with my hand, wincing at the recoil. Despite the strain, I left afterimages as I blocked the remaining bullets, which exploded violently in the surrounding area.
[Soldier, these light bullets are incredibly powerful! Also, it feels like our movements are being analyzed!] (Libra)
“I know! Her predictive shots are gradually improving. If she fully predicts our moves, she’ll fire that beam again. We’re at a disadvantage! I should’ve paid more attention to our guns!” (Lanpeach)
My lack of long-range firepower is a major weakness. Honestly, I didn’t think guns were still an option even after reaching godlike strength.
“I’ll finish this in close combat!” (Lanpeach)
I read the trajectory of the rain of bullets with ultra-calculation, and closed the distance to Orimira. She stopped firing and took a stance to counter.
[Divine Spirit Gauntlets]
Light particles wrapped around my arms, forming the Divine Spirit Gauntlets. Feeling its reliable power, I accelerated further with a determined step.
“Let’s start with a test of strength!” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach vanished, reappearing instantly before Orimira with a punch. A direct strike to her face. My arm blurred, delivering a flurry of blows. The superhuman speed created afterimages, driving my punches toward her, but…
“……”
But Orimira raised her round shield and slightly twisted her wrist at the moment of contact, redirecting the punches. The same precision blocked all my rapid strikes, deflecting them effortlessly.
“Kuh! She’s surpassing my martial arts skills!” (Lanpeach)
[Unbelievable, but it seems she’s also reading my ultra-calculation abilities. What’s the deal with Mira’s original body?] (Libra)
Just when I thought my attacks were overwhelming, Orimira countered with the spear’s shaft as a melee weapon. She struck my wrist, numbing it slightly through the gauntlet. She then dropped low for a sweeping kick, exploiting my momentary lapse.
“Whoa! I screwed up!” (Lanpeach)
I stepped back to evade, but Orimira used the low position to draw back her knight’s spear. She lunged with a spiraling thrust before I could regret giving her space.
[Telekinetic Barrier]!
I hastily formed a barrier to block her attack…however, a sharp sound like glass shattering followed as the barrier was pierced. Her knight’s spear drove into my body.
“Gah! Damn it! Still, at least the damage was reduced!” (Lanpeach)
Blood sprayed as the spear drove into my abdomen, the impact wreaking havoc inside me.
But I grasped the spear firmly since the barrier reduced its power significantly, halting her movement. Aiming to counter, I closed the gap and drove a knee strike into her solar plexus.
Orimira didn’t flinch, falter, or show pain even with such a powerful blow landing.
“What’s with her core strength?! She doesn’t budge at all despite her slender frame!” (Lanpeach)
Her body remained unyielding, like a giant, immovable tree rooted deeply in the earth. I couldn’t hide my shock at her resilience.
But I didn’t stop there. Placing a hand on her shoulder, I floated into the air and executed a moonsault kick, aiming for her helmet. Though the kick landed, she didn’t waver. Instead, she grabbed my leg, lifted me high, and slammed me into the ground.
Air was knocked from my lungs, and pain coursed through me.
“Argh, but how about this?!” (Lanpeach)
[Psychic Laser]
Ignoring the pain, I pointed my fingers and fired a laser at point-blank range. The thin beam hit her armor, melting it slightly. Orimira retreated with a backflip, but she didn’t escape my pursuit.
“You’re not getting away!” (Lanpeach)
I increased the number of lasers from each of my fingers and deployed them to try and capture Orimira.
[I’ll predict the enemy’s movements!] (Libra)
I maneuvered ten lasers in a grid-like pattern to disrupt the enemy’s movements and target Orimira with Libra’s assistance.
She twisted her body and attempted to evade at high speed.
Thinking she couldn’t completely avoid the attack, I let out a sly laugh befitting a minor villain. Naturally, that villainous grin set the stage for a turn of events.
Orimira suddenly stopped, ignoring the damage as the lasers scraped her body, and aimed her knight’s lance. Then, she fired the same thick beam of white light as before, incomparable to the thin laser rays.
“Alright, dealing damage bit by bi—whoa!” (Lanpeach)
I hastily deactivated the Psychic Lasers and leapt back, but Orimira didn’t stop her beam. She swept it across the battlefield, chasing me relentlessly.
“Nuoooo! Doesn’t she feel pain or something?! That beam is dangerous!” (Lanpeach)
I sprinted to evade as the beam tore through the space while assessing the situation.
“No, this isn’t going to work. Winning without leaving a scratch on the main body is impossible! Mira, can you break through her mental barrier?” (Lanpeach)
Yeah, thinking about it, there’s no way I could suppress an enemy equal to or stronger than me with half-hearted tactics.
“What do you mean by ‘mental barrier’? Right now, I’m busy eating this souffle, so don’t interrupt me with nonsense. Also, this orange sauce is mine.” (Mira)
Mira was focused on eating the souffle like a puppy devouring its favorite treat.
“Isn’t this a scenario where ‘The person in front of you is just a fragment of Mira’s mind’? This must be one of those scenarios where we stall an unbeatable enemy while you break through her mental barrier, right?” (Lanpeach)
As I shouted, Mira —there were two of her, actually— kept fighting over the souffle, neither willing to back down as they clutched the sauce.
Before the battle, there was a Mira on both my left and right, identical in appearance. There was one more Mira at some point in time, so I wondered if that was the case. The two of them got their respective souffle and separated, so my gamer instincts told me that really is the case.
This must be one of those “last fragment of the mind left by Mira’s original body” scenarios.
“That’s correct. Well done, Mister-Whatever-Your-Name-Is. If you acknowledge that this souffle is entirely mine, the mental barrier will break. Then, my mind will unify, and I’ll be fully restored.”
The Mira with chocolate sauce smeared on her face nodded vigorously. This was the one that appeared all of a sudden, so that one must be the fragment of her original body’s mind. Also, she is grabbing onto the box and not letting go.
“That’s unacceptable. I’ll compromise at eleven portions for me and one for you.”
“This is a legendary-tier rare item. I can’t yield. Besides, eating something so delicious all at once isn’t good for you.”
Neither Mira budged at all.
Why are these two only talking about food when I am in a pinch over here? Of course, the other Mira was not letting go of the box either.
Meanwhile, Orimira momentarily halted her beam, switching to a machine-gun mode and continuing her assault. I was about to be turned into Swiss cheese!
“If I die, I won’t be able to make more snacks!” (Lanpeach)
The two Miras froze at my desperate shout and the second Mira looked at me seriously, realizing the severity of losing her treats.
“Understood. I’ll explain, though I don’t know what you’re misunderstanding. That enemy is a demon named Paimon who perfectly copied my appearance and stats. It’s a sitting duck; spirit crystal #1,678,487,871.”
“You should’ve said so earlier! So I didn’t need to hold back?!” (Lanpeach)
Upon hearing that, I skidded to a stop, faced the oncoming beam, and raised my fist.
Though the mention of “sitting duck” piqued my curiosity, defeating the enemy took priority now!
[Rush]
I activated the skill and unleashed a flurry of high-speed punches infused with super strength. The punches deflected the beams and redirected them toward Orimira -or rather, Paimon.
My fists, guided by ultra-precise calculations of the beam’s trajectory and recoil, didn’t just send them flying but ensured they hit their mark like unavoidable predictive strikes.
“Aaaaahhh!”
Paimon failed to evade and the beams struck her, triggering a chain of explosions. Seizing the moment, I dashed forward with incredible speed to close the gap.
[Palm Strike]
Pain was injured, but maintained her stance and raised a circular shield to block… However, a shockwave shook her from within the instant my palms touched the shield. I delivered a powerful kick to her head without missing a beat.
The explosive force of the kick sent Paimon flying and tumbling across the ground.
Wiping the sweat off my forehead, I allowed myself a small, triumphant grin.
I could tell that Mira’s words were a hint.
“Looks like I can take her down if it’s just her equipment and stats. Man, that was nerve-wracking.” (Lanpeach)
I wondered what would happen if I used my skills further, and drew even more psychic energy from within my body.
