The sky was blue, and the wind was strong. The wind brushing against Lanpeach’s cheek felt more painful than just strong. He figured it must be barely avoiding the effect of [Body Beyond Logic] as the strong wind blew through the open hatch.
“Boss, I’ve attached the additional armor and booster parts to the Sword Saint’s Garb-usa. Let me know if it’s hard to move, and I’ll adjust it-usa yo.”
The mechanic rabbit in a work outfit smudged with oil stuck close to Lanpeach, eagerly attaching parts while pressing its nose against him with sniffs.
“Oh, thanks. I’m good, no problems.” (Lanpeach)
Wearing the Sword Saint’s Garb, Lanpeach moved his arms and legs lightly to confirm there were no issues with the movements. Then, thinking how cute the rabbit was, he patted its head. The mechanic rabbit closed its eyes and let out a pleased little cry.
The additional equipment was attached to the Sword Saint’s Garb just as requested. Reinforced exoskeletons were attached to align with the body to prevent adding any weight, while armor covered vital spots and joints. On his back were wing binder-style booster parts.
“This outfit looks like something straight out of a sci-fi anime for magical girls working for the Bureau of Magic.” (Lanpeach)
[Wouldn’t you wearing a magical girl outfit cause a disaster, Soldier? Like, ‘Lanpeach the Magic Old Man reveals himself!’, or maybe more like revealing himself.] (Libra)
Libra had already transformed into her ethereal form, and floated next to Lanpeach, mimicking an American-style shrug. She is a beautiful girl who seems to live for teasing.
“…I can’t deny it. I’ll give you a cushion later.” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach the Magic Old Man would appear with a sparkle… That would probably be censored and banned. No need to predict, it would definitely be canceled after three episodes.
“Well then, take care-usa.”
“Ah, by the way, isn’t there a catapult or something? You know, like ‘Lanpeach Kouza, Sword Saint launching!’ where you interact with the operator.” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach was trying to fulfill the ridiculous dreams he had since childhood, and still had. Sure, not having a mech was a drawback, but wouldn’t it be cool?
“Boss… How old are you-usa?”
“Don’t answer that seriously! You should’ve cracked a joke! It’s painful to be looked at with pity!” (Lanpeach)
Unable to bear the sad look in the mechanic rabbit’s big, watery red eyes, Lanpeach turned his face away, and…
“Hey, what’s that robot? Power armor?” (Lanpeach)
Several real combat-type robots were fixed to hangars along the wall of the cargo hold. Whether still under assembly or not, mechanic rabbits were busily attaching parts to them.
“That’s a Gunrabbi, Boss. It’s supposed to be delivered after you defeat the Demon Seed and your Base Defense Knowledge reaches level 7.”
“…I don’t know why it’s already prepared, but can I pilot it? Could I finally say, ‘Gunrabbi, launching!’ or something?” (Lanpeach)
This man unable to give up on his foolish dreams was named Lanpeach Kouza. But the world is a cruel place.
“That thing’s a bit over three meters tall. As you can see, only mini rabbits can fit into the cockpit-usa yo.”
“Gaaah!”
Lanpeach was crushed by the shock. Rabbits, able to slightly alter their physique, would shrink themselves to mini-rabbits, don pilot suits, board the Gunrabbi’s cockpit, manipulate levers, and tap keyboards, consulting with mechanics.
With that size, Lanpeach would be lucky if his head could even fit. He was jealous. The dream-like image of the pre-launch pilot of No. 2 was right there, but all Lanpeach could do was declare himself a non-participant. He had no choice but to watch them discuss things he wanted to do as well like “I want my arm movements to be faster” or “I’d like sharper maneuvering” with the mechanics.
“…Well, whatever. I just need to avoid leveling up my Base Defense Knowledge, right?” (Lanpeach)
The heartless man said such childish things, but the pilot rabbits responded with sorrowful little cries. Since they all squeaked out “Please level up” in unison, it was certain that Lanpeach, weak to cute things, would end up leveling it up.
“Not entirely convinced, but I guess it’s time to head out.” (Lanpeach)
He pulled out a pair of sunglasses and put them on, flashing a mischievous grin as if he were plotting something.
“It’s time for Combat Agent Michibiki to make his debut. I wonder what’ll happen to my presence in all this?” (Lanpeach)
These sunglasses were designed so that his identity wouldn’t be revealed if no one saw him put them on. Since he’d disappear once he said “I’m heading out”, it was only natural to wonder.
“Hmmm, well, people will probably just assume you’re fighting among the rabbits. They’ll likely think one of the rabbits is Soldier.” (Libra)
“Those are some scary sunglasses. That’s good then. Let’s go, Libra!” (Lanpeach)
[Gotcha, Stranger-san!] (Libra)
Libra, totally in the groove, followed behind as Lanpeach kicked off the floor and leapt into the sky through the hatch.
The wind pushed against him, the hem of the Sword Saint’s Garb fluttering violently as Lanpeach plummeted headfirst toward the ground. The wind howled past him as he rapidly closed the distance to the earth, where fierce battles were taking place, with some areas already shifting to melee combat.
Anti-air Tulips on the ground still fired beams of light, trying to shoot down the Lion Rabbit, while Machine Gun Marigolds unleashed barrages of bullets. Explosions erupted in the sky, sending up clouds of smoke.
“Boss, the output from the booster parts can’t match your physical capabilities-usa. I recommend not engaging in aerial combat, okay?”
[Don’t rely too much on your aerial mobility. If you get shot down, don’t say I didn’t warn you.] (Mira)
“Roger that. In that case, I’ll aim for a quick landing on the ground.” (Lanpeach)
It seems the boosters can be controlled by thought, so he activated it to avoid incoming bullets. The boosters glowed blue, causing Lanpeach’s body to accelerate faster than the bullets closing in on him, speeding his descent.
Amidst the falling leaves and dried-out surroundings, the rabbits, Touka, and the national army were locked in battle against the monsters.
“Take that! Your weak abilities are no match for us-usa~!”
A rabbit clashed fiercely with a Blade Treant while dodging beams, using a knife to parry the sword strikes. The rabbit’s knife technique was masterful, blocking the Blade Treant’s sword while counterattacking, but the relentless Blade Treant showed no fear of injury, resulting in a fierce standoff.
“Take this! Alien Style: [Cattle Abduction]!” (Touka)
Touka made quick steps to dodge the enemy’s sword, grabbing its arm and using the enemy’s strength to throw it. She crushed the head of the fallen Blade Treant with a flowing stomp. Touka’s hand-to-hand combat skills apparently surpassed even the gunner rabbits.
“These things have suddenly gotten sluggish! Now’s our chance, burn them all!”
National army soldiers joined the fray, some skilled enough to shift into melee combat.
The battle with the monsters was fierce, and the situation was at a stalemate.
“Alright, tell me the drop point.” (Lanpeach)
“The front line has already been pushed forward-usa. You should land somewhere within the enemy’s rear unit near the elevator shaft that’s now visible-usa yo.”
[It looks like the ones hiding have gone into the elevator shaft already.] (Mira)
“Tch, a classic game move where the enemies steal the objective in the middle of a player’s quest.” (Lanpeach)
No matter who it was, opportunistic thieves in the middle of battle are never forgiven.
(Guess it is time for me to do some hunter style payback.) (Lanpeach)
“Here we go.” (Lanpeach)
He landed deeper into enemy lines than the front, and despite the high-altitude fall, the ground neither caved nor whipped up a windstorm. It was like a feather gently landing.
He touched down right in the midst of Blade Treants, who were grouped in formation. With the Psycho Grass withered, they couldn’t communicate mentally, so they each held their swords ready, preparing to launch the flowers on their heads as projectiles.
Lanpeach, on the other hand, wore a faint smile as he stretched one arm out horizontally, forming a hand knife with his fingers. He spun on his heel like a pivot point, passing cleanly between the Blade Treants.
A light breeze momentarily swirled, and when Lanpeach finished his spin, still in the hand knife pose, the Blade Treants surrounding him took a step forward…only for their bodies to split cleanly in two, dropping to the ground.
Seeing their comrades fall, the Blade Treants in the rear rotated their flower petals, turning them into blades to fire at Lanpeach.
Deadly flower projectiles were launched at high speed from directly ahead, and at curved angles. However, Lanpeach’s expression didn’t change, and he simply shifted his body to the side and took a stance.
“I’ll show you what’s different about me now.” (Lanpeach)
His stats have doubled, and his skill levels have increased. It was time to test that power.
[Super Senses]
Lanpeach’s perception of the world shifted with senses beyond human, as if he had stepped outside the flow of time. The rapidly approaching flower blades slowed down to a crawl, and the other enemies seemed to have stopped moving entirely.
It wasn’t [Instant]. His sense of time had transformed into something inhuman. He had entered the realm of milliseconds, and while Lanpeach’s body felt sluggish, as though submerged in a viscous liquid, his thoughts remained sharp, presenting no problem.
He raised his index and middle fingers, and reached out toward the flower blades. Lanpeach effortlessly caught between his fingers what would normally slice through even metal as if it were butter, stopping it. He continued to catch the next flower blade, and the next, until eventually all of them were neatly held between his fingers.
“Since these are your precious weapons, I’ll give them back.” (Lanpeach)
The world of heightened senses dissolved, and as time returned to its normal flow, Lanpeach sneered cruelly and flicked his fingers. His arm moved so quickly it seemed to disappear, and the flower blades shot back towards the enemies.
If the Blade Treants had any emotions, their faces would have been filled with astonishment and fear. The blades flew toward them at a far greater speed and sharpness than when they had been originally launched.
Some Blade Treants tried to evade. Some leapt, others crouched to the ground, while some crossed their arms to block the attack.
However, they were all equally sliced apart. The ones who jumped were cut mid-air, those who crouched were struck down, and those who crossed their arms had them severed along with the rest of their bodies.
They were all wiped out within the blink of an eye.
The flower blades Lanpeach had thrown also reached the frontlines, cutting through the monsters from behind, breaking the stalemate. The countless enemies were wiped out by the appearance of just one man.
With a light sigh, Lanpeach exhaled and smiled, satisfied with his improved stats and the power of his new skill. That smile caused the battlefield to fall silent for a moment.
“J-Just what in the world are you…?”
A man from the national army, whose equipment and skill seemed superior, asked in a trembling voice. Lanpeach touched the edge of his sunglasses and answered with a haughty attitude.
“I am Michibiki, an agent. I will take control of this botanical garden. You have no right to refuse. Eliminate the surrounding monsters.” (Lanpeach)
After those words, Lanpeach turned toward the elevator shaft, leaving the fearful soldiers behind.
The inside of the Lion Rabbit ship was in an uproar. Rabbits were scurrying all…
