MV – Chapter 106: Casino Loot and the Minor Villain

Reigokai: Merry Christmas everyone!

Hope you have a good time and enjoy the chapter~ 😀

——

Kogari Slime finally turned to ash and perished. Then, the quest completion log appeared.

[You have cleared the quest: Prevent the creation of fake Element Powder using humans! Kill Masakatsu and the man in the lab coat, and erase all evidence of the experiment. You have earned 35,000 EXP. An additional 7,000 EXP for defeating the boss.]

‘Good, good. With the EXP I have now, that brings the total to 50,000. I can power up significantly’ -Lanpeach was feeling quite proud of himself for completing the chain quest.

[Kiiiiing Black Rabbit~. The Black Rabbit brings back a very good deal-nen. Please wait a little longer-nen.]

A suspicious log appeared, and along with it, a cute, chibi version of the Black Rabbit. She had the character “王” (King) on her forehead, so it must be King Black Rabbit-san. The figure waved her arms and legs enthusiastically.

[So you have hired the services of the beautiful support character Mira, who performs her requests with certainty and for cheap, at 45,000 EXP-nen. No need to thank me-nen!]

King Black Rabbit-san waved and disappeared with those words. Wait, why don’t I understand this? My EXP total has dropped to 5,000?!

[Thank you for your contract. From now on, you’ll be able to summon me, Player. Call me anytime I want to work.] (Mira)

Mira landed on the floor, smiling and bowing politely.

(Now that I think about it, she did mention something about “paying later”. Why does this feel worse than a forced sale?) (Lanpeach)

[Isn’t your line a little off? I don’t feel like I can summon you anytime, though?] (Lanpeach)

[Please refer to the Colony Labor Standards Act. It’s all written in detail there, including about flexible work hours -about two hundred billion entries, to be precise.] (Mira)

He won’t be fooled. There’s an easy way to clarify things.

[Explain it in two sentences.] (Lanpeach)

And that is by asking a support character. Here stands the strategist Sima Yi.

[You can summon me when gathering items. Otherwise, it’s when I feel like working.] (Mira)

[This contract is worse than I thought!] (Lanpeach)

[If you want to cancel, please contact me within two weeks in Mira Time. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Oh, look, time’s up! The two weeks have already passed in Mira Time, so no cancellations are allowed.] (Mira)

She casually delivered this bombshell before he could even react, and began to create a distortion in space, preparing to leave.

[There are so many things wrong with this! Hey, wait! Get back here!] (Lanpeach)

[Please don’t be so picky. It’s because you’re always nitpicking like this that people say, ‘Oh, what’s good about Player? Hmm, they are fussy but nice enough’, or ‘They’re detail-oriented but a nice person’, always adding ‘nice’ at the end just for the sake of it. The kind of response when describing a person that doesn’t have any good points.] (Mira)

Mira spat out poisonous words that didn’t allow for any response, bowed her head, and stepped into the space tear, disappearing.

[…Libra, I now fully understand what an excellent support character you are. You’re easygoing and thoughtless, but a nice support character!] (Lanpeach)

[Oh, really? Hahaha! I’m the one who supports Soldier best after all!] (Libra)

Libra-san laughed triumphantly. Yes, Libra-san really is such a great support character that it almost brings him to tears. Unlike Black Rabbit, she has big boobs, is affectionate, and hugs him all the time. Truly a perfect support character.

Mira left like a storm, and the trio’s comedic routine came to an end.

But not everyone was done.

“Uh, so…what do we do now? I mean, what should we do?”

Krishna, with a sly grin, rubbed his hands together and approached me. He had completely forgotten about him, but there he was, watching the entire fight. Looks like he judged he wouldn’t be able to win against Lanpeach after seeing his combat power.

Looking around, the aftermath was a mess. Ashen lumps of flesh were scattered everywhere; clearly the results of some suspicious experiment.

(It looks like all of the experiment’s results were absorbed by Kogari Slime. The rest doesn’t really matter.) (Lanpeach)

He bid farewell to the Chimeranpeach route, erasing any death flags, and waved his hand at Krishna.

“Go help the people in the cells. My mission is done, so I’ll be leaving now. Oh, and here’s a little thank you for your help.” (Lanpeach)

He should give him a reward since Krishna completed the quest as well. He took out an item from his pocket.

“What is this…? Coins?” (Krishna)

The stack of coins he handed him clinked… About a hundred in total.

“This is one hundred million coins from the casino. I suggest you exchange them quickly. Well, see ya.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach quickly made his exit with that. There was no time to bother cashing out the coins. He had a feeling it is a complete mess right now after all.

“Thank you! I’ll make good use of this!” (Krishna)

Krishna, oblivious to what was happening upstairs, was overjoyed at the one hundred million coins.

Lanpeach gave him no hint about the chaos above as a proper minor villain and left.

Krishna seemed to have forgotten all about being caught for cheating. Lanpeach did feel a bit worried, but he can ask Guy to bail him out if he gets caught again.

━━━ Afterward, Krishna entered the chaotic casino accompanied by the former captives, causing even more confusion. This is how he came to be known as King of the Naked Tribe, though that wasn’t Lanpeach’s fault.

He apparently managed to get his hands on a hundred billion Ele safely.

◇◇

“Aah, all that work for nothing…” (Lanpeach)

“Huh? I thought we were going to celebrate at a nice restaurant after this? You get to eat with the lovely Libra-chan, so I don’t think it’s all for nothing!” (Libra)

The sky was already dark by now, and Lanpeach took off his sunglasses as he walked home with Libra.

Libra was clearly pleased by Lanpeach’s earlier cool confession that she was his only support character. Her hands were behind her waist and she was skipping happily as they walked. She looked adorable in her dress, so she stands out a lot.

She beamed a sweet smile at him.

“Alright, I guess we’ll have a celebration. We’ve got plenty of money after all.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach pulled out a wad of bills from his pocket. His Dimension Pouch had quite a lot stored in it.

“So you really were collecting money too, Soldier!” (Libra)

Of course, no minor villain leaves without taking some loot.

“If you don’t pick up money that’s lying around, you might get bad karma. Besides, I guess it was too early to call it a waste.” (Lanpeach)

“Huh? What do you mean?” (Libra)

“Looks like there’s a bonus point system.” (Lanpeach)

[You’ve received 7,000 bonus EXP for not causing harm to civilians.]

(It’s just 7,000, but better than nothing. My skill build is all messed up now, so I’ll have to reconsider and fix it. A little more thinking is required.) (Lanpeach)

“Let’s unlock the research facility and fill those skill slots!” (Libra)

“Ah, right, I forgot about that. Skill slots weren’t a thing in the game, but I wonder if there’s anything good?” (Lanpeach)

Libra clung to his arm, excitedly suggesting ideas, though it seemed Lanpeach had forgotten all about them.

“Who knows? I’m not too familiar with them either. I’m a Soldier-exclusive character, so most things are limited to what you can access.” (Libra)

“That ‘exclusive’ part sounds kinda lewd.” (Lanpeach)

“The fact that you’d say that out loud is what makes you so bold and oblivious to the atmosphere, Soldier. Most people wouldn’t voice such thoughts.” (Libra)

“An outgoing guy who pretends not to get the hint might say it.” (Lanpeach)

“You’re more of a minor villain though.” (Libra)

Libra clung tighter, flashing a devilish smile.

“‘Minor villain’ is such a versatile word. It’s a word that sums everything up nicely.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach laughed and pointed to a nearby restaurant. It looked a bit fancy, with a chic atmosphere. Outside the entrance was a small blackboard that advertised steak.

“Alright, let’s eat steak as you requested and have a drink to celebrate.” (Lanpeach)

“Yay! I’m starving, so I’ll eat a lot!” (Libra)

Lanpeach opened the door, and a small bell chimed as the staff turned to greet them.

“Welcome. How many in your party?”

“Three, please.”

Answered the support character beside him, raising her hand.

“Huh? Didn’t you leave in style earlier?” (Lanpeach)

“I believed you would throw a celebration, Player. You are usually called a cheapskate who only buys manju, but I knew you would treat me to a nice meal this time.” (Mira)

Mira praised him with a pointlessly elegant face. Looks like she came back right away.

“Kiih! Go away! Soldier’s having a celebration with me!” (Libra)

“The screeching little monkey can cling to Player all she wants. I’ll be ordering everything on this list of meat dishes.” (Mira)

Ignoring Libra, who bared her teeth with a ‘mukii’ sound, Mira looked over the menu and placed a ridiculous order without hesitation.

The waitress glanced at Lanpeach as if wondering if Mira was joking, but there was no need to worry…Mira was serious. She could easily eat it all.

“I’ll have a bottle of this wine. And the cheese platter. And…” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach ordered an appetizer. He always ordered the cheese platter whenever it was on the menu.

Libra, showing her usual indecisiveness, hummed as she stared at the menu before finally choosing the skirt steak. Mira ordered an orange juice in a bit of a rush.

The prices were outrageous, with some dishes costing over 100,000 Ele, but that didn’t hurt Lanpeach’s wallet anymore.

After a short wait, the wine, two wine glasses, and the orange juice were brought to the table. The three of them clinked glasses and they all took a sip.

Lanpeach, having not had proper wine in a while, found it quite enjoyable.

“So, Mira, this is also a welcome party for you as a new support character. What exactly can you do?” (Lanpeach)

“Well, for starters, I’ll be more useful than that girl over there who’s already asleep.” (Mira)

“I’ve never seen someone fall asleep after just one drink. You could take her home with ease.” (Lanpeach)

Libra tried to act cool by sipping wine. She ended up falling asleep with just one sip, her head resting on the table, peacefully snoring. Why did she choose wine in the first place?

“Maybe it’s because it was her first time drinking. Anyway, I’m more skilled in the management front. For example…I can provide essential facilities for the Hunter Guild.” (Mira)

“And what would those be?” (Lanpeach)

“Of course, a dungeon. I can set up a small dungeon portal for 1,000 EXP.” (Mira)

━━━ A dungeon. The dream facility where you can collect spirit stones and items.

Mira smiled slyly and reached for the cheese platter, forcing Lanpeach to quickly take on the role of defender.

  1. A terrible black rabbit that stole the xp. Lanpeach should just not bother with those quests if she just keeps taking it all. Anyway, now can we go back to the protagonist, Koume?
