WM – Chapter 367-368: Wedding Ceremony – Part 4-5

TLN: Hey guys, Reigokai here!

Today it is gonna be 2 chapters, but this is more of my decision rather than the author’s. These two chapters were uploaded in a span of 2 months, but chapter 368 is so short I decided to add it here.

This means there might not be a WM chapter next month. Emphasis on might. Depends on the author, really.

Anyways, enjoy the chapter!

—-

“I have arrived!!!”

Noah-sama, my beloved Goddess, struck a pose reminiscent of a masked hero.

A strong wind whooshed through, and countless flower petals danced in the air.

“Huh?!”

“Wow, so pretty!”

Lucy and Sa-san exclaimed in awe.

The wedding venue transformed into a vast flower field, with the four major elemental Great Spirits twirling in colorful brilliance.

It was a breathtakingly otherworldly scene.

—Ah…

—What incredible beauty…

—Goddess-sama…

Murmurs of people charmed by Noah-sama could be heard from the crowd.

(Is this okay…?) (Makoto)

I worried for a moment, but looking at Sofia next to me and Lucy and Sa-san nearby, even though they were in a daze, their expressions seemed normal enough.

If Noah-sama were truly casting her full Charm, no one would remain sane. It must be a harmless Charm…or so I hope.

“Hello, Makoto. I’m here.” (Noah)

“!?”

Noah-sama, who had been several meters away, suddenly appeared right before my eyes.

Her long, starlight-colored silver hair brushed gently against my cheek, and her gemstone-like indigo eyes locked onto mine, making it hard to breathe for a moment.

“T-Thank you for taking the trouble to descend to the surface, Noah-sama.” (Makoto)

“Fufufu, it’s fine. It’s the wedding of my adorable Apostle, Makoto, after all. And besides…” (Noah)

Noah-sama shifted her gaze to Sofia beside me.

“N-Noah-sama! Thank you very much for—” (Sofia)

“No formalities, okay☆ Eir’s little Oracle, congratulations on your marriage.” (Noah)

“Y-Yes… Thank you…” (Sofia)

Sofia’s cheeks flushed with a wink from Noah-sama as she stared blankly.

Even Sofia, usually calm and composed, was overwhelmed by Noah-sama’s beauty.

“Oi oi, Noah-kun, charming someone else’s bride isn’t good.”

It was the Moon Oracle Furiae-san…or rather, the Moon Goddess Naia-sama, who interrupted.

“Oh, isn’t that Nyaru? You were here?” (Noah)

“Don’t play dumb. You knew I was here… Hmph.” (Naia)

Naia-sama emerged from Furiae-san’s body with a playful leap.

“””Eh?!”””

Sofia, Furiae-san, and I voiced our surprise.

“You’ve descended too?” (Noah)

“It’s ridiculous for me alone to follow the rules when Noah-kun’s running wild after all.” (Naia)

“U-Uhm, Noah-sama, Naia-sama… If two beings of your divine rank descend in your heavenly forms, it will greatly affect this world’s ecosystem…” (Laila)

The angel Laila-san addressed the two Goddesses with a respectful yet anxious tone.

“Don’t worry, don’t worry. It’s just for a little while.” (Noah)

“If anything goes wrong, I’ll blame it all on Noah-kun and make my escape.” (Naia)

“Oh? Do you think I’ll let you escape?” (Noah)

“Hmph, don’t underestimate my fleeing skills. I’ll outrun even the Light Spirits.” (Naia)

The two Goddesses exchanged carefree banter.

Laila-san glanced at me uneasily.

This looks troubling… I should probably step in.

“Noah-sama, you’ll set things right if anything happens, won’t you?” (Makoto)

“Hm? Well, if Makoto says so, I suppose I’ll have to.” (Noah)

I saw Laila-san sighing in relief when I looked her way.

I addressed both of the Goddesses after realizing I had left them standing.

“Noah-sama, Naia-sama, I’ll prepare seats for you.” (Makoto)

Neither Goddess had planned to attend, so no seats had been arranged.

Or rather, what kind of seating would even be appropriate for Goddesses? Sitting among humans seemed improper…

“It’s fine, Makoto. I’ll take care of it.” (Noah)

With a snap of Noah-sama’s fingers, vines and flowers sprouted from the ground, forming a magnificent throne-like seat.

Noah-sama sat gracefully on the floral throne, creating a picture-perfect scene.

“This looks fun. I’ll join too.” (Naia)

Naia-sama also sat beside Noah-sama on the flower throne.

“Hey, Nyaru, it’s cramped! Make your own seat.” (Noah)

“Don’t sweat the details, Noah-kun. Look, I brought this.” (Naia)

Naia-sama pulled out a glowing bottle.

“Wow, golden honey mead. Thoughtful of you.” (Noah)

“I know it’s your favorite drink.” (Naia)

The two Goddesses began an impromptu drinking session.

Their divine beauty alone was enough to mesmerize everyone present.

(Well, they are Goddesses who shouldn’t even be here…) (Makoto)

Laila-san tapped my arm as I pondered how to handle the situation.

{Makoto-sama, Makoto-sama, I’ll set up a barrier to keep everyone calm. Please proceed with the ceremony.} (Laila)

The small angel, Laila-san, whispered in my ear.

{Thank you, Laila-san.} (Makoto)

I expressed my gratitude.

{But it’s strange, isn’t it? If Noah-sama descended to the mortal realm, the Water Goddess,  Eir-sama, would normally accompany her as an observer…} (Laila)

{That’s true. Eir-sama would usually make an appearance in these situations.} (Makoto)

Both Laila and I tilted our heads in unison.

But pondering the matter further wouldn’t lead to anything.

The thoughts of the top deities like Noah-sama and Naia-sama are beyond the understanding of us mere mortals.

I followed the angel’s advice and resumed the progression of the wedding ceremony.

—During that time.

“Come on, Noah-kun. Are you saying you can’t handle my drink?” (Naia)

“You, are you trying to get me drunk? What’s your plan here?” (Noah)

The voices of the two Goddesses reached my ears.

“Don’t just sip at it. Down the whole bottle!” (Noah)

“Hey! Noah-kun, I don’t like drinking in such an uncivilized manne—” (Naia)

They seemed to be having a great time.

“Hey, hey, next up is the divine wine Souma, made from the fruit of life. I made it out of boredom at the Deep Sea Temple!” (Noah)

“Ooh, I am interested in something made by Noah-kun herself… Hm? Wait a second, isn’t this a bit strong?” (Naia)

“Chug it☆ Chug it☆” (Noah)

“No way! This is impossible to down in one go.” (Naia)

…Could Noah-sama possibly be a bad drunk?

Even the ever-composed Naia-sama looked flustered.

“All right! Since I finished mine, it’s your turn, Noah!” (Naia)

“What? I can’t drink that much… Hey, Nyaru, don’t force it on me!” (Noah)

“Heh, after all the chaos you’ve caused me, I’m taking this rare chance in a million years to outdrink you, Noah☆.” (Naia)

“Oh, interesting. I’ll take you on☆.” (Noah)

Noah-sama and Naia-sama’s drinking contest began.

Surrounding them were countless Spirits performing a floating folk dance and extraterrestrial beings from the outer realms.

All the while, an endless cascade of mysterious flower petals rained down around them.

It was an utterly fantastical sight.

At the center of it all, however, were two drunk, overly enthusiastic Goddesses bickering.

Watching this, Laila-san leaned toward me and whispered in my ear again.

“Makoto-sama, when Noah-sama and Naia-sama get drunk, they start offering their drinks to others. However, the divine wine Souma they’re drinking is highly toxic to mortals. Please take care not to drink it by mistake. I’ll also keep an eye on things, but you’re the only one here who might be able to stop them.” (Laila)

She casually said something terrifying.

“Wait, the wine is poisonous? Does that mean drinking it would kill someone?” (Makoto)

“No, the opposite. If a mortal drinks Souma, they would become unable to die.” (Laila)

“…What?” (Makoto)

“It seems that when diluted, Souma is referred to as an elixir of immortality in the mortal realm. In any case, drinking Souma would strip you of your humanity. It’s technically forbidden to bring it to the mortal realm under the Divine Regulations, but… Ah! Noah-sama just spilled some. See how the ground is glowing, and plants are sprouting there? Those plants won’t wither for a thousand years.” (Laila)

“…Wow.” (Makoto)

The ecosystem was really changing, just as Laila-san had feared.

Hmm, Noah-sama and Naia-sama seem to be enjoying themselves, and I don’t want to ruin the mood, but…

Maybe I should gently suggest they tone it down a bit, I thought —when suddenly, a cold chill ran down my spine.

Laila-san felt it too; her expression turned blank.

Before I could even wonder what it was, a dignified yet furious voice resounded.

“Oi, Noah and Naia… What are you doing?”

Lightning flashed.

Everyone present fell silent.

There was no need to guess who had spoken.

Across the vast world, only a select few could address Noah-sama and Naia-sama by name.

A figure with long, radiant golden hair like the sun and fiery orange eyes stood there.

Clad in pure white light armor and wielding a brilliant spear, she shone with a light too dazzling to look at directly.

Her exquisitely beautiful face, more perfect than any sculpture or painting, was now slightly distorted with anger.

The ruler of the entire universe: the Sun Goddess, Althena-sama, had descended.

■Comment Response:

>Will the author-san write about the honeymoon too?

-I didn’t think of that, but it might be a good idea. The wedding arc has been quite long, so I plan on ending it on the next chapter.

>Is Laila-san the same angel as Eugene’s mama?

-Yes, she is the same angel.

>Isn’t this grander than the Light Hero and Holy Maiden’s wedding? Is that okay?

-It is indeed.

■Author’s Comment:

There’s only 2 months left this year by the time I noticed.

So fast.

  • Chapter 368: Wedding Ceremony – Part 5

“…What exactly are you all doing?”

A voice as if rising from the depths of the earth.

Even as her face twisted in anger, it remained radiantly beautiful; the divine visage of Althena-sama, the Sun Goddess, ruler of the cosmos.

Massive clouds swirled in the sky as countless bolts of lightning rained down ceaselessly.

It is as if the scene reflected Althena-sama’s fury.

The wedding guests were paralyzed by fear, unable to utter a word.

All living things were but dust before Althena-sama. Even Princess Sofia, the Angel Laila-san, and I could only watch with bated breath.

“Ahahaha!”

“Hahaha!”

…Everyone except for the two goddesses, Noah-sama and Naia-sama, who continued their uproarious laughter.

Althena-sama stormed over to them.

“My, if it isn’t Althena. How unusual.” (Noah)

“Oi oi, are you drunk, Noah-kun? There’s no way Althena-kun would show up here.” (Naia)

“Hm, that’s true. That busybody Althena couldn’t possibly be here.” (Noah)

“Exactly. Althena-sama has no free time, unlike us.” (Naia)

Noah-sama and Naia-sama were too intoxicated to realize the situation.

As I hesitated over whether to intervene…

“YOU FOOLS!!!”

“Kya!”

“Wa!”

Althena-sama’s roar was accompanied by a white bolt of lightning striking Noah-sama and Naia-sama.

A thunderous boom and flash followed.

“God’s Wrath…” (Laila)

I heard Laila-san’s trembling voice.

“Laila-san, what did you just say?” (Makoto)

“It’s Althena-sama’s magical lightning bolt, said to possess the same power as the strongest sacred treasure, Raitei, of the Divine Realm. Those struck by it are annihilated without a trace. We must not get close.” (Laila)

It seemed the earlier lightning was a formidable spell.

However…

“Hey, that hurt, you know!” (Noah)

“Hmm, feels tingly.” (Naia)

Noah-sama and Naia-sama appeared completely unscathed.

Not a single scratch on them.

“Have you sobered up yet, Noah, Naia?” (Althena)

Althena-sama looked down at them coldly.

“Huh? Why is Althena here in the mortal realm?” (Noah)

“That’s strange. Althena-kun doesn’t usually descend directly to the mortal realm.” (Naia)

“I’m obviously here to take you back!!” (Althena)

Bonk! Bonk!

Althena-sama’s fists struck Noah-sama and Naia-sama on the head with resounding thuds.

“Hey, stop with the violence!” (Noah)

“That’s tyranny, Althena-kun!” (Naia)

“Silence! Reflect on your actions for once!”

Althena-sama grabbed both of them by the scruff of their necks, lifting them like kittens.

Then, she turned her gaze towards me.

Her expression shifted entirely, her face now radiating a gentle, loving smile.

“Takatsuki Makoto, Princess Sofia. Congratulations on your marriage. I wish you everlasting happiness and the prosperity of the Water Country.” (Althena)

“Thank you very much, Althena-sama!” (Makoto)

“Your words are far too generous, Althena-sama!” (Sofia)

Sofia and I hurriedly bowed in gratitude.

“I’d love to stay and talk longer, but…” (Althena)

“Aww, are you leaving already?” (Noah)

“Stick around a bit longer, Althena-kun!” (Naia)

Althena-sama’s serene expression darkened at the words of Noah-sama and Naia-sama, still dangling from her grasp.

“Because of you two, I had to abandon my current duties to come here! There are numerous other places facing crises, but when the Planetary Collapse Warning came, I feared the worst!” (Althena)

I leaned closer to Laila-san and whispered…

“What’s this about a planetary collapse crisis?” (Makoto)

“With Goddesses of Noah-sama and Naia-sama’s caliber, even casting minor Miracle spells could destroy a planet. And this time, it’s two of them descending at once. Someone in the angelic ranks must have reported it to the Divine Realm. I’d do the same.” (Laila)

It turned into a huge ordeal.

Maybe inviting Noah-sama and Naia-sama to the wedding was unreasonable.

“Well then, I’ll take these two back. Everyone else, enjoy the rest of the event. Sorry for the disruption.” (Althena)

A magical circle of light appeared around Althena-sama.

It seems she is already leaving.

“Noah-sama, Naia-sama, Althena-sama, thank you for today!” (Makoto)

I ran over to bid the three Goddesses farewell.

“See you, Makoto. Enjoy your newlywed life for a while.” (Noah)

“You say that, but you will get lonely if he doesn’t visit— ouch!” (Naia)

Noah-sama lightly smacked Naia-sama on the head.

“Oi, stop squirming.” (Althena)

Althena-sama held the two as she looked at me with an exasperated expression.

“Well then, farewell. May the people of the Water Country be blessed with fortune.” (Althena)

The three Goddesses vanished with a shimmering sound.

(That was a chaotic ending…) (Makoto)

In any case, with the noisy Goddesses gone, the wedding venue returned to calm.

Thus, Princess Sofia and I successfully concluded our wedding ceremony.

Later, angels summoned by Laila-san worked to ensure the Goddesses’ lingering effects wouldn’t harm the ecosystem…which is a story for another time.

■Comment Response:

>There’s 2 Goddesses, so it should have been history’s most radiant wedding.

>Why can I only imagine this as a party in a bar…?

-It doesn’t feel that holy anymore, huh.

■Author’s Comment:

I felt under the weather, so it will be a short one today.

  • Well considering makoto already is a immortal god he probably could drink the soma without much problem (aside from getting drunk), I was wondering how long it would take for Althena to notice what was happening and come drag those two back, I wonder if those present will retain those fake memories Noah made

    • Iirc, his 3rd person view would make him resistant to being drunk, I don't really remember though, I've only read thru the novel once..
