MV – Chapter 45: 2nd Death Flag and Minor Villain

The Excatirano is running his way.

It looks slow because of its giant body, but it is fast. It caved the ground while scattering rubble in its approach.

[Uncover].

Lanpeach was completely unfazed even when a cluster of metal was approaching him with power that could kill him in one hit. He was watching with a calm expression filled with thrill.

“Funuuu!”

The Excatirano opened its shovel -akin to a mouth- wide and swung down.

Lanpeach calmly jumped to the side while letting out a pathetic noise, and rolled to avoid the attack.

The shovel gouged out the ground heavily. The vehicle that was buried got dug out and spun in the sky, falling straight towards Lanpeach who was rolling.

[Telekinesis].

He directed psychic power towards the vehicle with a sharp gaze. Telekinesis can only control objects that are proportional to one’s strength.

—But it can stop objects for an instant.

Even in the game, it could stop things for an instant, and the psychic power would be undone soon after.

“Uooh!”

But that instant was enough against an object flying his way.

The flying object would fall to the ground and it could be used as a scaffold.

Lanpeach dashed onto the vehicle with impeccable timing the moment it stopped, and jumped.

[Store].

He stored the vehicle that only had the rusty chassis, jumped onto the Excatirano when it was in its swinging down posture, took out the vehicle he stored, and fell onto the base of its neck.

The armor of the Excatirano dented heavily, and scattered sparks everywhere.

Lanpeach soared towards the front part, pointed the muzzle towards the area where it is greatly dented, and shot.

[Piercer].

“Gya Gya?!”

The bullets drilled into the inner mechanisms, making the Excatirano move its head heavily and scream in pain.

It rampaged again and Lanpeach moved away.

The ground trembled with its running, and iron scraps fell from the mountain of rubble.

“It really is like a living creature. Does it have pain receptors?” (Lanpeach)

[Right, Soldier. The Spirit that has possessed it is being dealt damage and feeling pain.] (Libra)

“A machine having pain receptors is so messed up…and could become a big weak point. It also seems like it feels fear.” (Lanpeach)

Not feeling pain, not feeling fear, and not caring for your own life are the strong points of a machine.

And yet, the Excatirano has erased those strong points.

It raised its shovel from having been dealt damage 2 times, and began to wander around Lanpeach with wariness.

(This is different from the game. In the game, it would attack without fear even if its HP left was only 1 point.) (Lanpeach)

There have been many times where he would lower his guard when he is really close to defeating it, and would get killed. He would then throw his controller, fume, and scream.

“That said, the only ones who would think this is an opening and  can defeat their enemy with a smug face are the protagonists.” (Lanpeach)

He saw the Excatirano slowly approaching and cold sweat ran down from his forehead.

He tried shooting it to see, but he was blocked by its sturdy armor, and it only created dents.

[Isn’t this bad? It is not charging at you.] (Libra)

“Right… It is intelligent.” (Lanpeach)

If it doesn’t rush at him, he can’t do the floating trick like in the game. The chances of digging out a vehicle like before are low.

There’s also something he remembered just now.

The scene where the Excatirano appeared had one important part missing.

There was a scene where an explorer would let out a gyaa scream and would get eaten by the rollers.

When the explorer gets caught by the shovel and is made into ground meat by the rollers, a chilling amount of human blood would be flowing down from the shovel, and it would throw away the corpse of the grounded explorer before letting out a roar, which increased the impact of this fearsome boss.

The corpse was Lanpeach.

The explorer that screamed and was killed was Lanpeach. It was Lanpeach.

It is important, so it had to be stated twice.

The developers thought of Lanpeach as a punching bag and used him around way too much.

The Excatirano shook its head to the sides while scraping the ground with its shovel and mowing down.

Lanpeach jumped backwards and evaded this while spinning to regain his posture.

But the Excatirano waved its head, scraping away at the ground as it chased after him.

“Uhyoo! Why did I forget? I am such an idiot, an idiot. I jumped right into my own death flag!” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach turned around and ran away at full speed.

Libra smacked the head of Lanpeach with a serious face.

[Soldier, the only ones who can say idiot idiot are cute girls!] (Libra)

This support’s life mission is to tease Lanpeach.

“Thanks for the completely pointless retort!” (Lanpeach)

Iron fragments were flying around from the violent digging of the shovel, hitting his body like buckshots.

“Kuh! It hurts!” (Lanpeach)

This is also something that wasn’t in the game.

Even if the enemy created a crater and scattered earth and dirt around, even if they were to gouge the ground and scattered rocks, it would just be visual effects and wouldn’t deal damage.

[HP: 31].

But it wedged on his body, injured him, and made him bleed, dealing damage.

“Kuh, I can’t just evade! This is just going to get worse.” (Lanpeach)

He ran up the mountain of rubble.

The Excatirano finally stopped chasing, and began to wander around as if waiting for its prey to show an opening.

[The enemy is watching the situation!] (Libra)

The support shrine maiden pointed straight at the Excatirano.

He could tell just by looking, and yet, he was vexed by how her smug face was cute.

“In the game, this would be an action that would waste a turn, but there’s a point in real life, huh.” (Lanpeach)

He continued shooting, but it was not working one bit.

The Excatirano probably understood that it wouldn’t lose if it kept doing this. It once again approached slowly.

“Damn it! Is it that troublesome when it has intelligence? Attack me a bit more recklessly without a care for your life.” (Lanpeach)

[I don’t think there’s any living being that would try to kill themselves!] (Libra)

“Then, I will also use my hidden moves without reservation to defeat it.” (Lanpeach)

He made eye-contact with Libra, and did hip shooting with his DG5 Assault Rifle.

A storm of bullets headed towards the Excatirano and dented its armor, but it must have understood that it cannot be injured exactly because of this, the Excatirano moved forward and lifted its head.

But that was careless.

(It was a mistake to think I am alone.) (Lanpeach)

“I am not alone like in the scene where I was killed.” (Lanpeach)

Libra appeared at the base of the Excatirano’s neck the moment he shouted this.

“Ultra Libra Kick!” (Libra)

Libra unleashed a kick onto the Excatirano with her shrine maiden clothes fluttering.

A clunking metallic sound rang, and the Excatirano was confused by the sudden appearance of an enemy.

It understands that humans have enough power to destroy it, but it also understood that it wouldn’t be damaged unless it is attacked at its weak part, which is the nape of its neck.

And so, it tried to attack carefully, and yet, a new human appeared at the nape of its neck of all places.

“GyaGyaGyaGya.”

The Excatirano waved its head desperately, did a whole ton of reckless driving, and tried to tear off its new enemy.

It created a ditch on the ground of rubble, destroyed mountains of scrap, and ran around like a wild horse that had a human riding on its back.

But the human seems like it could float, so even with that mad rampage, it couldn’t tear her off no matter what.

It realized that it couldn’t tear her off with just rampaging around, contrary to the human of before, and this time rushed onto a mountain of scrap.

[Uhyaa~.]

Its body dented a bit because it crashed onto the scraps as well, but that alone wouldn’t be fatal for the Excatirano, and was relieved that the human was finally torn away.

And then, it noticed after calming down…

—That there’s still one more human.

“To think you would stop moving after charging. Looks like I will have to update the guides and tell everyone there’s a new way to kill you.” (Lanpeach)

The Excatirano quivered.

Lanpeach swiftly jumped onto its body and pointed his muzzle at the nape of its neck.

[Piercer].

The Excatirano felt a threat to its life at the strong impact it felt again, and rampaged.

It was relieved about how the human this time was torn away easily and turned around.

The human that it couldn’t tear off easily was floating there, giggling, and the human that was holding a gun had ecstatic eyes as if he was enjoying the thrill.

These humans were not acting seriously despite this being a battle of life or death.

The Excatirano raised its head in caution, but still concentrated on the one with the gun as being the only threat.

The human that appeared all of a sudden just clunk onto it and didn’t atack. It understood this.

[Ultra Libra Kick].

The floating human disappeared again and appeared at the nape of its neck, but it didn’t budge an inch this time around.

There was no impact just as it expected, and didn’t receive any damage.

Lanpeach saw this and was impressed.

Its intelligence is higher than he imagined. It has the ability to learn.

“If only you had a bit more HP, I would have died. That’s just destiny.” (Lanpeach)

The Excatirano made its engine roar like a growl as if saying it won’t be showing any openings to get on top of it.

The Excatirano approached slowly, but Lanpeach pointed its DG5 Assault Rifle at it, grinned like a crook that had thought of something evil, and declared to the Excatirano.

“Checkmate. You already lost the moment you could only take one more attack.” (Lanpeach)

[Instant].

Lanpeach activated the ultimate move that he had kept until the end.

The roaring of the engine went away and the Excatirano stopped moving cold like a statue.

The world turned black and white with its time stopped.

[Excatirano’s Neck: Accuracy 100%].

He chooses the nape of the Excatirano’s neck.

[Piercer].

Lanpeach used the technique that pierces half of the enemy’s defense, and returns the flow of time.

In other words, the reality changed into Lanpeach jumping onto the nape of its neck and pointing the muzzle at it.

The bullet drove in and, unable to endure it, explosions began happening.

Lanpeach judged that it was time to finish it off, so he switched to full auto, and sprayed on it.

The Excatirano couldn’t understand what happened and the nape of its neck made a big explosion while still unable to understand what happened.

The sturdy steel neck was destroyed, and its head fell onto the ground with a thunderous sound.

The camera eyes of the Excatirano that had lost its shovel part had their lights disappear. The body stopped moving and fell to the side.

[Nicely done, Soldier. You defeated the boss. Checkmate. Checkmate. Ahaha, checkmate.] (Libra)

“Hey, do you die if you don’t tease me?” (Lanpeach)

Libra rolled on the floor laughing, and Lanpeach felt dejected at how he had now created one more page in his dark history.

[You have defeated the Excatirano. Obtained 15,000 EXP.]

[Bonus for defeating the boss. Obtained 3,000 EXP.]

  1. Maaan, just how far the developers hate Lanpeach (or how lazy) to just rinse and repeat him for every unfortunate event?

    1. Every tutorial event, first visit to every map probably has him die to show the danger of the area, he’s probably even the straw man your character is pummeling in the intro video whenever you learn a new skill.
