The inside of the rusting radio tower was giving off a cold atmosphere.
The rusty steel frames were deteriorated and hanging down, and the metallic powder was sticking like moss. This world where life was practically nonexistent looked like a plant as well which was extremely creepy.
“This is only possible exactly because it is reality now…” (Lanpeach)
When Lanpeach entered, he reflexively placed a hand on a steel frame, and his hand got all sticky from the rust which made him frown.
There were no such detailed depictions in the game.
Lanpeach wanted to think of this world as a game world, so he sighed deeply, shook his head lightly, and decided to not mind it as he stepped into the radio tower.
Him being able to have banters with Libra and take silly actions is because this is a game world. This is by no means the real world.
If he doesn’t think in that fashion…he won’t be able to do the event that will be beginning from here on.
(I am a coward. I have no intention of gambling my life. That’s why this is a game world.) (Lanpeach)
[It doesn’t look like there’s anything.] (Libra)
The radio tower looks as if there’s nothing.
The giant radio tower was built from a combination of steel frames, and there’s no building inside.
It is empty with silence ruling the place. The only thing here is the sunlight leaking inside from the openings of the rusty steel frames, and mainly scrap iron and pieces of concrete that created mountains of rubble.
“No, look closely, Libra. There should be unnatural places even if Presence Detection doesn’t react to them, right?” (Lanpeach)
Libra, who was floating behind him, said this without a care in the world, so he narrowed his eyes and warned her.
Lanpeach noticed that low level Presence Detection can detect moving bodies and monsters like Toastons when they appear, so he pointed at the mountain of rubble without lowering his guard.
[Hmm…there’s something curled up there?] (Libra)
“Yeah, a welcome.” (Lanpeach)
The mountain of rubble moved. Vehicles that were now only the chassis and concrete fragments fell, and something raised its body.
That was an abnormal excavator.
There’s metallic legs growing out of it instead of tires, and you could see rollers to crush whoever is caught inside the shovel.
The edges of the shovel had sharp fangs like those of an animal. They had a strange brilliance to them under the sunlight.
The body was packed with iron plates as if serving as armor and looked like scales. Cables were covering the body like muscle fibers below the armor, and you could see oil flowing instead of blood.
You need to look up in order to see all of it. Its length was 30 meters.
[WARNING・WARNING]
[You have found a unique monster.]
[Boss Battle: Defeat Excatirano.]
Alarms rang loudly and a log he was used to seeing in the game showed up.
“GYAOOOOOOOO!!”
The camera eyes from the Excatirano that were at the sides of the shovel were shining red like a vicious living creature, and it let out a mechanical sound that would normally be a warning for the surroundings, but instead felt more like it was imitating the roar of a dinosaur.
That earth-shattering volume made the air tremble, dealt physical impact, and made the mountain of scrap crumble from the shockwave.
A normal person would tremble just from that roar. Even an explorer would have fear etched in their heart and would have their face warp greatly.
—But Lanpeach made a happy face.
He had an unfazed expression as if that roar was water splashing onto a fish. His face was refreshing as if he were enjoying the blessing of nature.
“Aah…this is relieving.” (Lanpeach)
[Relieving? What is? Did a screw fall from your head or something? This is a boss battle, you know? You are about to have a boss battle, you know?] (Libra)
The happy voice of Lanpeach made Libra get flustered and have a worried face.
Even though Lanpeach was about to have a life or death battle, he was making a face like that of a monk that has been enlightened.
She couldn’t understand why that was.
“The log is showing. A life or death boss battle. A scene that makes you feel the thrill. —I am relieved this is a game world.” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach’s heart was relieved. It found comfort.
It told him that this is a game world.
It made him feel that this is a game world.
“I am a player that is enjoying his 6th playthrough. —That’s why.” (Lanpeach)
—(The life or death boss battle that will begin from now on is just a fight with the life of the game character at stake.)
—(It is not like I am betting my life here.)
—(I don’t like pain. I don’t like to hurt others either. But I can do anything in a game world. Be it saving the lives of others with my body, be it slaughtering all the bad guys; I can enjoy all of it.)
Lanpeach’s face was happy like that of a player about to fight a powerful enemy.
His heart became like that of a god moving a puppet, and his eyes began to shine a fiery light.
“Now, let’s enjoy the boss battle.” (Lanpeach)
He took a stance with his DG5 Assault Rifle, showed a smile teetering into madness, and dashed forward.
◇◇
Lanpeach dashed through the ground of metallic scraps packed tightly like gravel.
[Quick Draw].
A bullet was shot the moment Lanpeach had taken a stance with his DG5 Assault Rifle, and landed on the shovel part of the Excatirano.
But it was originally heavy machinery. Its body is a cluster of metal, and has defense power like that of a tank.
It ended with just denting the surface of the armor a little bit.
“Tch, it didn’t work even when increasing the attack power with Gunmanship?” (Lanpeach)
[Looks like it is my turn. Libra Eye!] (Libra)
[Excatirano – Large Type: Level 3.]
Libra analyzed it and the level of the enemy was shown, letting him know a part of that enemy’s skills.
“Well, I did know it was a Large Type. I either have to shave down on its HP slowly, or use lightning magic which is its weakness, but…that will be rough solo.” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach chuckled as he ran around the Excatirano.
There’s metal scraps, rusty iron pipes, screws, and iron plates below his feet which would trip someone more than your regular gravel. It is hard to run and easy to slip.
But Lanpeach ran through this hindering rubble as if he had countless experiences in this.
He was taking a stance with his DG5 Assault Rifle as he shot the Excatirano. Even the recoil from the gun was being used to maintain balance.
He was running as fast as when he ran on level ground.
His movements were smooth and it would make others open their eyes wide.
The Excatirano was making the roaring sounds of an engine while directing its camera eyes towards Lanpeach who it has judged as an enemy.
It grinded its shovel as if intimidating him and stomped with its feet.
The bullets landed over and over, but it simply acted annoyed as if a fly just crashed onto it.
“Good grief, it is like a living being. How can it make such movements?” (Lanpeach)
[It looks like a living being because it has been possessed by a Mad Spirit. More importantly, you are not dealing damage. What will you do, Soldier?] (Libra)
“I did expect I wouldn’t deal damage. Having natural high defense is more troublesome than a Spirit Barrier.” (Lanpeach)
[You just need to attack until the energy runs out with a Spirit Barrier after all. Woah, the enemy has taken a stance!] (Libra)
“I know!” (Lanpeach)
The Excatirano stopped stomping its feet, inclined forward, and targeted Lanpeach who was running around it like drawing a circle, and…
[Tyrant Dragon Charge].
It sent the rubble flying as if the ground below its feet exploded, and closed the distance in an instant.
It ran through the carpet of metal with power and speed that would definitely turn Lanpeach into minced meat with just a scrape.
Lanpeach has an outstanding body, but it is still within human boundaries, so it is impossible to avoid the charge of the Excatirano. The body of the Excatirano is way too big.
“I would like to return the favor with a fervent welcome and words of gratitude.” (Lanpeach)
[Telekinesis].
Lanpeach extracted a number of rusty iron plates from the mountain of rubble, made them float in front of the Excatirano like stairs, and he also began to run towards the Excatirano.
“Orya!”
He used the floating iron plates as footing and ran towards the sky as if climbing stairs.
When he approached the Excatirano in this fashion and got above it, he jumped.
The iron plates were bent and blown away by the charge of the Excatirano, but Lanpeach jumped onto the neck part of the shovel, ran down with a desperate countenance, and thrusted the muzzle of the DG5 Assault Rifle onto the base of the neck connecting to the body.
“EAT THIS!” (Lanpeach)
[Piercer].
He used his special skill that halves the defense in his first shot, shot through the armor, switched to auto, and kept the trigger down.
Gunshots rang loudly, countless bullets entered the base of the Excatirano’s neck, destroying the inside of it, and scattering sparks.
“Gya Gya Gya Gya.”
The Excatirano showed pain like a living creature, shaking its body intensely, and ran wildly and messily.
“Woah woah.”
Lanpeach couldn’t grab a hold of anything in that rampage and jumped down. He mitigated his fall, rolling down, and getting up soon after.
[Nice, Soldier! That was a big hit just now!] (Libra)
“Right? I should be able to defeat it after repeating that just now 4 times more.” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach grinned at Libra who praised his moves just now, and took a stance without lowering his guard.
(The way to clear this is the same as in the game. Baffling.) (Lanpeach)
The way to defeat the Excatirano is simple: When it uses its Tyrant Dragon Charge, you use Floating Board with magic or Telekinesis with Supernatural Powers in his charge path, use those as footing, and then match the timing of the Excatirano as you go up, jump at the top onto the Excatirano, and deal heavy damage at point-blank to defeat it.
The Excatirano is normally extremely tough and difficult to defeat, but that’s the reason why there’s a proper way to defeat it.
By the way, Lanpeach has died around 5 times before he could properly do the floating board trick.
The timing is really narrow, and it was a pretty tough technique for Lanpeach who had average skills.
“That said, getting too comfortable can be fatal. Gotta be careful of its head shaking, downward swings, and tackles from close range. Also…” (Lanpeach)
The shovel opened like a mouth and its camera eyes blinked red as if intimidating, and the Excatirano let out a loud roar.
“Gya Gya Gya Gya.”
[Tyrant Dragon Roar].
A displeasing sound like scratching glass reverberated, and an impact ran through his body.
[Magic has been sealed].
But Lanpeach went on a knee, took a stance with his DG5 Assault Rifle, and shot.
[Piercer].
The bullet slipped through the rollers that were spinning inside the shovel. The Excatirano staggered and stepped backwards with the shock of the bullet entering it.
“There are other opportunities for me to attack.” (Lanpeach)
Lanpeach showed a mad and ferocious smile as he decided to enjoy his 6th playthrough.
“By the way, Lanpeach has died around 5 times before he could properly do the floating board trick. ”
Lanpeach died five times here? Or was it in his previous playthroughs? Bit confusing.
He can’t even remember his previous name, so that’s the only he can use.
Him thinking of the world as a game is better, he won’t hold back
Thanks for the chapter! Really think that sort of mentality will backfire… in a big way too.
