MV – Chapter 38: Minor Villain repairs

“Nicely done too, Dry. Was it hard to defeat the Ice Bears?” (Lanpeach)

“No, easy. Fell after 3 Freeze Lances. Had a harder time carrying them because they were heavy.” (Dry)

“Yeah, it is this big after all. Good work.” (Lanpeach)

Normally you can’t defeat Ice Bears solo in early game.

These guys are level 4 monsters. Moreover, their only attacks are claws, fangs, and body slams, but it is extremely troublesome because it attacks 3 times.

On top of that, they are immune to water and ice magic. They also half the damage of other elements aside from light and darkness, and don’t have weaknesses.

But they suddenly become easy when you pierce their immunity, so Lanpeach has been hunting them with Dry when playing with her since level 2.

It is a side of the game that lets you see the favoritism of the original protagonists.

Lanpeach was on the verge of dying for a bit there because of the horde of monsters that came at him, so he was a bit jealous.

“Thought the value would lower unless you skin off the fur carefully, so I brought it here. What will you do, Peach-oniichan?” (Dry)

“You are pretty smart, Dry. Leave it to me.” (Lanpeach)

[Dismantle].

The skill activated, the Ice Bear was enveloped in light, and changed into materials.

[Ice Bear Fur].

[Spirit Crystal (Small)].

[Ice Bear Meat 50 kg].

The textured ice turned into soft fur. The Ice Bear fur looks like a beautiful piece of art. And then, there’s a large amount of red meat falling onto the floor.

“Oooh! Wow, Peach-oniichan, what spell is that? …The holes I made with magic when I defeated it have also been closed? Why?” (Dry)

“Well, I learned a convenient spell. All of that is yours, Dry. Sell them well.” (Lanpeach)

He was sure it would sell for 100,000 at least as he remembered the market price in the game, and petted the head of Dry.

Dry’s eyes were sparkling as she was concentrating on that meat. She rarely has any chance of eating meat after all.

Well, she can just eat it freely.

“Now then, I should repair the materials that I obtained.” (Lanpeach)

[Repair].

Why did he get Repair?

It is because he can repair the broken items that drop. The price changes completely when repaired.

The slightly damaged electric devices that were piled up like a mountain were repaired with the skill.

This Repair isn’t single target but an area of effect. It affects everything within a circle, so it is possible to repair a lot of electric devices at once. He used it a number of times and his PP was barely enough.

Practically new electric devices were lined up in the blink of an eye and Lanpeach was satisfied.

It was worth the hard work. It was close to 200.

He thought this could be at least 1 million Ele as he did a crooked smile as if he was scheming something.

Chihiro and the other children began to gather, wondering what they were doing, and opened their mouths wide at the unbelievable sight. They were speechless.

Electric appliances turned to new in the blink of an eye after all.

It is natural for these people who have not seen proper magic in the slums to be surprised.

They were impressed about magic being amazing, but they didn’t notice that such magic doesn’t exist in the first place.

Also, skills don’t draw attention when used in the game, so Lanpeach didn’t worry at all about his surroundings.

He was thinking carefreely that they were simply surprised by how he gathered so many items.

“Well then, I will sell these electric appliances to the Krita General Sto—Hm? What’s the matter, Koume?” (Lanpeach)

“What is this, Papa-shan? Shtove?” (Koume)

Lanpeach was about to put them back into the Dimension Poach after he finished repairing them, but Koume waddled her way to the electric appliances, turned around, and asked this.

“Yeah, it is a stove. Haven’t seen them before?” (Lanpeach)

“I have! It is warm! Coshy. Can I turn it on, Papa-shan?” (Koume)

“Y-Yeah… Speaking of which…it is cold.” (Lanpeach)

Koume asked this with innocent sparkly eyes, so he thought about turning it on and…noticed.

Snow has piled up outside and this room…is cold?

“Allow me for a bit, Koume.” (Lanpeach)

He grabbed the hand of Koume and looked at it. Her skin is white and soft. Her cheeks are a bit red from the cold.

“Koume won’t serve as reference. Chihiro, please show me your hand.” (Lanpeach)

“Y-Yesh! You can go ahead and touch me as much as you want.” (Chihiro)

Chihiro choked, but he had no room to mind that right now.

“Your hand is numb from the cold. The hand of Dry is the same. That goes for the other children too, huh… I see…” (Lanpeach)

(I didn’t notice. I did think it was cold because it is winter, but isn’t this on the level where you can get frostbite?!) (Lanpeach)

No wonder the children were cold with just a thin blanket. He felt as if he was punched in the head and felt sad about it.

(In the game, you could walk around normally in your underwear and nothing would happen aside from in zones with weather damage. I did think it was cold, but didn’t really feel it! Damn it. At this rate, there might be children who have frostbite.) (Lanpeach)

He felt bad about his own negligence.

He also could imagine why he didn’t feel it until now.

On top of his body being like that of a game character, he is also a Transcendental. He regenerates constantly, so he doesn’t get frostbite. That’s the same for Koume.

That’s why he just felt a bit cold but wasn’t bothered by it.

“Haah~…. Well, it is great that this was brought to light before anything bad happened. Alright, I will give you a spirit crystal, so try turning it on. The button for that is…” (Lanpeach)

[Soldier, it has a low level Artificial Spirit, so it is okay by voice. It is a safe design that makes sure to stop fires.] (Libra)

Libra told him, so he was impressed by the stoves in an isekai and told this to Koume.

“It is okay to just ask it.” (Lanpeach)

“Ye! Please make it coshy!” (Koume)

The stove with an Artificial Spirit reacted to the words of Koume and fire was ignited.

The room was slowly warmed up.

“Coshy! It is coshy, Papa-shan!” (Koume)

Koume sat down in front of the stove and put her small hands up towards it with a big smile.

She looked really happy about it.

The other children nervously approached and held their hands up towards the stove.

There were children who looked like they would get frostbite, so he wanted them to also warm themselves up in hot water.

“Right now you are living in a room of how many people? A 4 person room? Then bring a stove to the room. Also beds.” (Lanpeach)

“Is that okay? That would be a great help for us, but what about the earnings?” (Chihiro)

“It is just 5,000 Ele each. No issues with sharing a bit. I can earn that in an instant.” (Lanpeach)

“The mattresses are made from feathers though?” (Chihiro)

“Great to see they look warm.” (Lanpeach)

He waved his hand as he answered the flustered voice of Chihiro.

There’s no need to hesitate if a cheap stove can save the children.

“5.000 E-Ele? This is? Uhm, which one is 5,000?” (Chihiro)

“Hm? They are the lowest level, so it is 5,000 Ele uniformly. Ah, right, right, please distribute the stoves to the residents too. Residents decreasing because of frostbite would be bad.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach is the kind of guy that would load his save file all the way to autumn if a notice shows that a resident has died from frostbite in his base.

He said lightly ‘the residents most likely don’t have a stove anyways’.

“D-Distribute? No, that’s fine, but you are selling them for 5,000 Ele?!” (Chihiro)

“Yeah, they are the lowest level and were originally garbage, so it should be around that price.” (Lanpeach)

Chihiro looked seriously at Lanpeach who was talking about this in a light tone and realized that he is being serious here.

(Garbage? A stove that can be operated with sound and is powered by spirit crystals? Or more like, what’s the sense of value of Lan?! …No matter how you see it, I can’t let him sell them for 5,000 Ele!) (Chihiro)

“Uhm…Lan, how about I take your place in selling them? You know, I might be able to sell them at a bit of a higher price.” (Chihiro)

Chihiro endured from having her face twitch and made a smile as she proposed this.

That’s so dirt cheap it would be like throwing gold into the gutter after all.

“Aah, create a shop in the base, huh. I have never done it since it is a pain to station a clerk. Doing sales in the shop as well.” (Lanpeach)

“We will all be the clerks! I will do my best in the sales and think of the shifts too! I definitely will!” (Chihiro)

Chihiro cut off Lanpeach and approached him with a desperate expression.

Lanpeach was overwhelmed by a pretty girl approaching him, so he just nodded profusely.

“A-Alright, I leave it to you. I will have the Taraworkers build a shop inside and…” (Lanpeach)

He was about to give the order, but he saw the Taraworkers sta~ring at him from the corner of the room.

It seems they want to say something.

“It is okay. I brought a whole ton of pork meat. Here.” (Lanpeach)

He had several kilograms of pork meat.

He brought that out and…

“Thanks-usa. Usa will cook it and distribute it-usa ne.”

A rabbit stretched its hand out and took it.

It grabbed the pork meat and its nose twitched.

“You are not herbivorous?” (Lanpeach)

“We are Artificial Spirits, so we eat the same stuff as humans-usa yo.”

“Cooking?” (Lanpeach)

“Soldiers have survival skills-usa. From insect repellants to simple cooking-usa. Curry on fridays~.”

“That’s the navy.” (Lanpeach)

Looks like there was a hidden setting that was not used in the game.

He was fine with them eating it all together with the Taraworkers, so he gave them all.

It is meat that was dropped like in a game, so there should be no issues, but he didn’t feel like eating it.

He wanted to have the Taraworkers eat it swiftly.

“Tonight will be ginger pork meat-usa!”

The rabbits raised the pork meat and shouted as if they had obtained a treasure.

“Yay, meat!” (Koume)

“Uhaah, looking forward to it. Been a while since I have had meat.” (Dry)

“Right~? It has been synthetic meat the whole time after all. Ufufu, I am looking forward to it.” (Chihiro)

Koume and the others jumped and got happy.

“Eh? …Eh?” (Lanpeach)

The happiness spread, turning into a big ruckus, and no one noticed that Lanpeach had frozen.

“Eat bear meat too. Invincible together!” (Dry)

He didn’t know what was invincible about it, but Dry raised the bear meat as if competing, and the children grew even noisier, shouting grilled meat.

Lanpeach saw that state of them, smiled nihilistically, and faced up.

(Libra-kun, can you tell the difference between pork meat and bear meat with your appraisal?) (Lanpeach)

[The person you are trying to reach either has their phone turned off or in a place where the signal doesn’t reach. Piii~.]

She wasn’t there.

He looked back and searched for Libra, but she was already nowhere to be found. Looks like she ran away instantly.

He looked at the state of everyone once again.

“Meat~. Meat~. Tasty~. Not shynthetic meat meat~.” (Koume)

Koume sang a cute song as she did a happy dance. Everyone is over the moon too.

What would happen if he were to say here that it is for the Taraworkers and rabbits, and there’s no share for them?

“Alright, let’s go buy spices before it gets too late.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach couldn’t say something so cruel.
