MV – Chapter 37: Minor Villain in the Dream Island

[Bedhoppers are approaching!] (Libra)

“Gotcha!” (Lanpeach)

Rusted screws instead of gravel, iron pipes like branches, wires spreading out like weed being an obstruction, jumping over the ground of this mechanic world, and at times kicking it over, Lanpeach continued shooting.

A monster that looks like a bed that has grown grasshopper legs.

There’s bones strung together with chains onto the bed most likely in order to bring about fear, telling the story of what is the fate of people who are caught by Bedhoppers.

But the veteran gamer Lanpeach won’t feel fear by such an object at this point.

He shot with steady aim and several bullets landed, changing them into scraps of metal.

[The Vacuutree over there!] (Libra)

“They really like combining words.” (Lanpeach)

A metallic pillar controlling nozzles of vacuums like the legs of an octopus approached him.

As for the suction power, the tendrils sucked in the scraps of metal on the ground, and rounded them up.

“Argh, such a pain!” (Lanpeach)

But the metallic trunk broke and fell the moment it entered the sniping range of the gun.

[A Microwadude!] (Libra)

A microwave with arms and legs ran hectically towards him, but a bullet wedged into its door and destroyed it.

[There’s also a Jamflower over there!] (Libra)

A flower that looks like a small parabola antenna hiding in the shadow of scraps was making electronic pipipi sounds.

The sound waves spread in the surroundings and when it passed by his body, a notice showed up.

[Lanpeach’s magic has been sealed.]

This is the reason why explorers keep a respectful distance from the Dream Island Spirit Ward.

You can’t use magic anymore and it will make it harder to fight against the monsters.

[And a Snable over there!] (Libra)

“I did see that one!” (Lanpeach)

A cable that looked like a snake showed up from the shadows of the scrap and jumped out, finding prey.

Lanpeach held his hand towards the Snable that had plugs like fangs clad with electricity.

[Telekinesis].

An iron fragment floated with telekinesis, spun, and flew towards the Snable like a cannon, splitting its body.

Telekinesis is powerful as long as you have an object you can throw.

“Fuhahaha, even if my magic has been sealed, I have my Supernatural Powers! That’s one of the reasons I came to this zone!” (Lanpeach)

[Ooh, it is true that even if magic is sealed, your supernatural powers are not! Not bad, Soldier!] (Libra)

“You can praise me more. Fuhahaha!” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach laughs loudly.

He would let it get to his head and would end up all exhausted in the next fights.

[I have a gift for that Soldier. A horde of Stovens showed up over there.] (Libra)

At the place Libra pointed straight at, there was a mount full of holes like an anthill, and Stovens crawled out from there in droves. Their numbers…are something you wouldn’t want to count.

“W-Why are enemies gathering endlessly for a while now?! Why?” (Lanpeach)

Hordes of insects gave him goosebumps and crept him out.

A swarm of wasps is something Lanpeach has only seen on TV and he only thought of them as disgusting.

Lanpeach made a face of disgust and his face distorted, but his body moved as Gunmanship willed, switched to auto, and sprayed the Stovens that headed his way.

The sound of gunshots echoed in the area, and the rain of bullets made the Stovens drop, but there were so many that he couldn’t defeat them all which made him click his tongue.

The Stovens that slipped through the rain of bullets heated their body further, increased their flying speed, and rushed at him.

[Heat Attack].

The red hot Stovens flew his way.

“Huah!”

Physical Combat made him take evasive maneuvers excluding the pathetic cry.

He shifted half a step, evading the first Stoven, and pointed his gun at it and pulled the trigger.

He did a side step in this mayhem where Stovens were being destroyed, evading the other Stovens.

The Stovens that were evaded crashed onto the ground and the scrap floor melted into a paste with the heat.

“Uoooh! What unbeelievable power!” (Lanpeach)

[Unbeelieavable as in bees, right? Ahaha, I will at least act like it was funny!] (Libra)

Lanpeach was a bit embarrassed that his dad joke was discovered while he shot down the remaining Stovens with calm movements.

“Fuuh, I am getting used to the skills and am beginning to get some room to show emotions.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach sighed as he wiped the sweat off his forehead after relying on his skills.

[Do I need to get used to you saying unbeelievable? Ah, the presence of enemies! This time it is Toastons and Disk Burners! Also, Washing Machine!] (Libra)

Libra pointed again with a baffled face.

The toaster monster appeared once again from the wreckage along with a gas burner.

Also a monster that looks as if a washing machine grew a horn.

“Eh? What’s going on? Is this place a monster nest or something?! Libra, you have the Golden Nail, right?!” (Lanpeach)

[I think it is fine to compare my pretty nails to gold, but it doesn’t have any special powers, you know?] (Libra)

“Something like this shouldn’t be possible. Hngh. Is it bad luck? Because it is Lanpeach difficulty? I should have learned AoE attacks!” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach had endless regrets as he thought he should have thought about his skill build in a more realistic fashion.

He saw his enemies clad in a red aura, signaling that they will activate their skills, and jumped to the side.

[Toast Boomerang].

A burning red toast was shot out from the toaster and flew his way.

[Fire].

The gas burner spun around while spitting out fire.

[Water].

High pressure water was gushed out from the washing machine.

The iron toast created a ditch on the ground, the gas burner’s fire licked the ground, and the water jet pierced through an abandoned vehicle.

The firepower of those attacks is terrifying contrary to their weak names.

He changed energy magazines and shot down the enemies without care with hip shooting.

He stopped trying to save bullets now.

There’s an extremely high chance that he could die if he were to be hit a few times.

[No choice. I will help you out. Ultra Libra Decoooy!] (Libra)

Libra stood in the way of the approaching horde of monsters, and shouted bravely.

The monsters swarmed onto Libra with her scream and disappeared.

It is strange how she looks like a diligent support in moments like this.

“Libra is unexpectedly useful. But seriously, why are these guys gathering? I can’t advance like this.” (Lanpeach)

He tilted his head while shooting.

Gunshots rang in the area.

Monsters gathered one after the other after reacting to those gunshots, but Lanpeach didn’t notice his own actions at all.

It is because even when you were to use the strongest magic spell that creates a thunderous sound in the area, the encounter rate wouldn’t change in the game.

And so, in this machine world where silence spreads, Lanpeach could barely advance until he wiped out all the monsters…

◇◇

[You only defeated them in a cool manner in the beginning, Soldier.] (Libra)

Libra cackled, amused.

She looked completely fine even when swarmed by monsters. It is to the level where you might suspect her heart is made out of diamond.

“Ah… That was tiring. How to say it… My magazines are empty now, you know? I didn’t expect to empty them all in just half a day. Also, I couldn’t get to the spirit crystal mine that is the most profitable.” (Lanpeach)

[You were all smug about going to hunt in the Dream Island Spirit Ward after all.] (Libra)

“Do you have a disease where you will die if you don’t tease me?” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach returned all exhausted after fighting off the incessant waves of enemies of unknown origins.

The Dimension Poach was almost full.

“Aah, exhaustion is not shown in the Status.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach dragged his tired body and was bitter about the difference between the game and reality.

Even though his HP is full, his body is already tired and his movements are dull.

(I am glad I learned this in my first exploration. I can’t move if fatigued. This is obvious, but it would have been dangerous if I had noticed when deep in a Spirit Ward.) (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach sighed as he thought that alone was already fruitful enough as he returned to the Lanpeach Complex.

Chihiro, who was wandering around restless in the reception lobby that was awfully clean now, walked quickly towards him after noticing him.

Chihiro was worried about whether Lanpeach would really return, so she was waiting the whole time in the lobby.

“Welcome back, Lan. Did you manage to earn well?” (Chihiro)

“Yeah, I should be able to get a decent amount if I sell it. Also, is Dry back?” (Lanpeach)

“Yes, she brought the Ice Bears to the warehouse on the 6th Floor.” (Chihiro)

He did say to defeat Ice Bears.

There was almost no possibility of dying, but he was a bit uneasy that maybe there would be protagonist shenanigans happening, but he placed a hand on his chest in relief after hearing she is fine.

“I have also brought a lot of game, so it works just fine.” (Lanpeach)

“Eh? Game from where? From outside?” (Chihiro)

Chihiro hurriedly followed after Lanpeach when he began to walk, and tilted her head in wonder.

He had no rucksack or weapon, so she was wondering for a while now whether he really went out to explore.

“Yeah, I have them in my Item Box.” (Lanpeach)

“Eh?! Item Box…? Uhm, where did you…no, that’s impressive!” (Chihiro)

Even Chihiro knows about the existence of Item Boxes. Also the fact that it can’t be obtained by your average person.

(He must have gotten it from that personage. Being able to just give an Item Box to a person from the slums. Just how much capital do they have?) (Chiriro)

She chased after Lanpeach who waved his hand dismissively while shuddering.

She felt fear at that massive backbone he has.

Lanpeach thought having the Dimension Poach be known is bad, so he had the shallow idea that there should be no issues if it is an Item Box.

His resources were not used to think about reality but battle alone.

“Ah, welcome back, Peach-oniichan. Hunted Ice Bears. But can’t dismantle them. What to do? Bring it to the guild?” (Dry)

Once they arrived on the 6th floor, they saw Dry puffing her chest out proudly in front of the corpse of a giant bear with ice fur.

It is a monster that a normal explorer would have a hard time against, but it seems to have been easy for Dry.

“I will dismantle them. I have to deal with the ones I have here as well after all.” (Lanpeach)

He put his hand inside the Dimension Poach and brought out his loot. All his loot.

“Huh? Eh?! You hunted this much?” (Chihiro)

“…Oooh~, incredible, Peach-oniichan!” (Dry)

A variety of electric devices flowed out like a waterfall from the Dimension Pouch.

Chihiro and Dry opened their mouths wide, dumbstruck.

  1. And now he will use repair on these electronics to not only raise their selling cost, but also to get new stuff for the base, isn’t it.
