MV – Chapter 32: The Minor Villain levels up

Previous Chapter l Next Chapter

Lanpeach is a man that everyone would acknowledge as a crook in their first meeting.

His faint smile and cunning gaze would make you feel like he would definitely betray his comrades.

That should be the case.

Lanpeach’s Inherent Skill, Minor Villain, is at its highest level. He raised the level of Minor Villain to max, so he dug himself into that one.

It has been a week since the incident of Tsuyoshi.

That minor villain who begins at minus affection rate has not gone to explorations and was troubled in his own room.

[What are you worrying about, Soldier? Let’s go explore quickly. I will let you have a date with this beautiful flower once you come back.]

Libra called herself a beautiful flower.

It is the pattern where she would end up getting along with the protagonist as she teased them.

“I now understand that you are an enemy, Libra. Or more like, it is practically a blizzard outside.” (Lanpeach)

The outside of the window had snow falling which would be an exaggeration to call a blizzard, but the wind was so strong you wouldn’t want to go outside.

It is a season where Lanpeach would want to be inside a kotatsu while he enjoys eating mochis in warmth.

[Sounds like the best weather to explore. Yay, I am so excited.] (Libra)

“Leaving in the middle of a blizzard and dying has nothing to do about death flags anymore, you damn little devil.” (Lanpeach)

Libra danced in the air, the hem of her shrine maiden outfit fluttering about as she snickered with joy.

It is vexing, but Libra is lovely, moreover, the chest area is open, so Lanpeach couldn’t go against his sad male instincts and his eyes gravitated towards them.

Libra also notices that gaze and leaned over provocatively, taking a pose that would allow for her chest to be peeked at, which is so evil.

Lanpeach showed the strength of will of styrofoam. He tried to look away and kept it at just peeking.

“But it is important to explore. I’ve got no cash after all. Also…it is not like I have been doing nothing this week.” (Lanpeach)

Even so, he still tried to switch gears here and make a serious face. He opened and closed his hand and winded his shoulder.

“Complete recovery. I finally don’t feel any pain.” (Lanpeach)

He felt relief and doubt at the pain from the battle against Jakots finally being gone.

“My HP was full in 3 days based on my stats, and yet, the pain in my body still remained. Isn’t that weird?” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach should have recovered according to his game status. But the pain of his bones creaking and the pain of his bruises didn’t disappear.

That was the case when he had a fist fight against Tsuyoshi.

Even though he was only dealt 1 damage at that time, his cheeks swelled and his body hurt.

Pain remained in reality. Moreover, what’s important is that the pain remained even when the HP was full.

It worried him whether it really is okay to believe the numbers in his Status.

[The humanity strengthening system is perfect. Even if you are only left with a head, as long as you have Hit Points, you will still keep your life, so don’t worry.] (Libra)

“I don’t know what part of that was supposed to not make me worry. There’s nothing but worry there. My brain being preserved in a capsule after being dissected would be so psychopathic. I would like to be spared from that.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach poked at the cheek of Libra that winked at him, and thought it was so soft it might become a habit while pledging in his heart to remember this difference. He felt like he might make a fatal mistake one day if he didn’t.

“I have decided I will consider the differences of reality and change my build a bit. And so, I will begin the acquisition of skills.” (Lanpeach)

[Roger~!] (Libra)

Lanpeach’s cheeks loosened up a bit at Libra who hugged him and began the level up.

Lanpeach has thought deeply about this in the week.

His current EXP is 11,000. He plans on using it all.

Keeping them as it is would be an option in the game, but there’s no Load feature in this world.

Lanpeach has no intention of dying from having saved them for later.

(Acquire Gunmanship Level 3.)

[Acquired. Please choose your specialty.]

([Piercer].)

[Piercer: add piercing power to your bullets. Negate 50% of the enemy’s defense in the next attack.]

The gun knowledge was installed in his brain and was sublimated to first-class level.

(Next, acquire Physical Combat Level 3.)

[Acquired. Please choose 2 specialties.]

([Guard] and [Power Burst].)

[Guard: Half the physical damage of the enemy when used.]

[Power Burst: Negate 50% of the enemy’s defense on the next close combat attack.]

He increased his Physical Combat level all the way to 3.

He thought there would be a lot of close combat scenarios in reality, and he will be more efficient in moving his body.

Skills that pierce through the defense of the enemies have lower damage multipliers compared to other skills but, in the game, when the enemy has way too strong of a defense, you could end up doing 0 damage.

It is possible to defeat any enemy, no matter how low the damage, as long as you can deal damage.

He got those specialties for the sake of this.

(Next, acquire [Uncover] to Level 1.)

[Acquired.]

[Uncover: Nullify stealth skills. +2 Mind per level.]

With the Rat Men and Jakots, he realized there were more enemies that can use stealth skills than he thought, so he got this.

Even if the level is low, it can nullify the stealth skills at certain intervals, so it is useful even at level 1.

(Next, acquire [Physical Strengthening] to Level 1.)

[Acquired.]

[Physical Strengthening: +5 to all Stats per level.]

This skill can increase all stats, but even if you use your precious EXP, it only increases stats and you won’t learn any specialties, so players don’t recommend this skill. But Lanpeach went out of his way to.

(Acquire [Transcendental] Level 2.)

[Acquired.]

With this, his resistance and natural recovery will increase and his body will become stronger than that of a normal person.

(Lastly, [Extraterrestrial] to Level 2.)

[Acquired.]

[With Extraterrestrial becoming Level 2, Lanpeach Kouza has been promoted to 1st class soldier. You have acquired the [Dimension Poach] that can store up to 1 kilogram of items.]

This is how Lanpeach used all of his EXP.

Dimension Poach is a skill that allows him to store items in a pocket dimension. You could say it is a skill you can find often in games.

It has the same power as the bracelet imbued with [Item Box] which you obtain in the beginning of the game, but he is going to be raising [Extraterrestrial] anyways, so there’s no need to do the bracelet event which is a great help. The bracelet event is a bit of a pain after all.

“I guess my body is a bit more battle ready? I feel like I am becoming too much of an all-rounder, but it can’t be helped. I don’t feel it that much, I guess? Even though my Strength is close to double in terms of stats, my body is not all brawny like before.” (Lanpeach)

[Obviously. The humanity strengthening program is perfect. Being aware of your body changing because you powered up? Non non, that’s not awareness, but an off sensation. If you felt something off from suddenly becoming stronger, you wouldn’t be able to move naturally, right? There’s none of that. Being able to act without feeling anything off is the wonderful part of this system.] (Libra)

Libra said something fearsome with a smug face.

“I see. So not feeling anything off in my body is also part of the system. It is true that not feeling anything off when obtaining power would allow me to use my power as if I have worked hard for years… When I think about it like that, this is a fearsome system. Good grief.” (Lanpeach)

He narrowed his eyes and was reminded of how fearsome this system is.

He can change himself as if he were a genius until now by simply obtaining skills that give him the power of a genius one after the other.

And then, he will feel as if he had those powers from the very beginning.

It would be natural in a game system, but how would it be when it turns into reality?

Thinking about it again, the existence of the Space Library is wonderful yet scary.

—There might come the day he will have to face the existence of the Space Library…together with the reason he came to this world.

Libra snickered impishly and didn’t show her real intentions.

She is simply a computer terminal of the Space Library. What lies behind that smile is the will of the Space Library.

(Well, there’s no need to worry about it right now. It is not something to think about when I am still weak. Even if Libra is a computer terminal, once we are together for a long time, she might get attached to me like the common tropes, will go against the Space Library, and join my side.) (Lanpeach)

Right now he is just going to rely on the power of the Space Library so that he doesn’t lose to anyone.

[A power that doesn’t show in your muscles. Your soul has powered up and you can now show power that betrays your appearance. That’s why your appearance won’t be changing just from your strength getting a bit higher.] (Libra)

Libra said this and traced her index finger onto the chest of Lanpeach and smiled suspiciously.

He was a bit bewitched by that appearance of hers and was convinced with this.

When he checked the body mirror, it seemed like his thin body had changed into a bit of a trained body.

Libra noticed that he was bewitched by her, and smiled in a good mood as she spun her body.

The shrine maiden reacted to everything and pointed a finger at him.

“You have now become a full fledged soldier. That personage will be happy too!” (Libra)

She spoke in a normal voice instead of with her thoughts.

“Why did you change from thoughts to normal voice? Also, who is this personage?” (Lanpeach)

“Just felt like it. Talking with thoughts all the time would be boring, right? You would obviously want to hear my cute voice like that of a canary with your ears, right? If I call the Space Library as that personage, it would be harder for others to inquire about it even if they hear it.” (Libra)

“There would be no need to worry about that with thought transmission to begin with… Well, if you want to, that’s fine with me though.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach made a wry smile at this support character that likes to act theatrical at every opportunity she can.

It seems like she is at an age where she wants to poke her head on anything that seems interesting.

She coughed and pleaded with damp eyes, so Lanpeach couldn’t refuse the request of this beauty.

He nodded back and a smile like a blooming flower showed in her face, and she puffed her chest out.

“Then, I shall tell you the words of that personage. The fight just now was splendid. That personage was satisfied by the success of the experiment~!” (Libra)

“Uhehe, thank you very much. This Lanpeach is always that personage’s loyal subordinate.” (Lanpeach)

Lanpeach plays along by acting like a minor villain. He rubbed his hands together and gave a reaction that suited him too well.

“Umu umu, that personage is also satisfied. Make sure to do your best next time too.” (Libra)

“Hehe~! Wait, you are talking a bit too loudly. It would be embarrassing for this to be heard outside the room.” (Lanpeach)

If someone were to see this decently aged old man putting up an act like this, he was confident he would be depressed for a week.

[Ehehe~, sorry, sorry. But tag along with my acting every now and then. Mugyu**~.] (Libra) <Hugging onomatopoeia>

Libra returned to thought transmission and giggled like a child.

Libra has a strange allure and a childish personality which creates a cute contrast. He was vexed about how this gap is nice.

[Mugyu mugyu~.] (Libra)

“Yeah yeah, just tell me when.” (Lanpeach)

Libra was hugging the face of Lanpeach and pushing her breasts onto him. He thought ‘Artificial Spirits have no bras, huh’, and was convinced in an instant.

“Anyways, I said I wouldn’t go out in this blizzard, but I will. Now that I think about it, there will be less explorers on days like this, so it is an opportunity to earn in the Spirit Ward.” (Lanpeach)

[Oh, that’s the spirit. So strong. As expected of Lanpeach. I believed in ya!] (Libra)

“I will do my best to answer that light trust of yours… Hm?” (Lanpeach)

Someone knocked on the door, so he turned back and the face of Chihiro peeked inside from the slightly opened door.

“Can I come in, Lan? I have brought the collected money.” (Chihiro)

“Yeah, go ahead. I still have to tell you something after all.” (Lanpeach)

Chihiro and Dry entered the room, clearly relieved, and looked around restlessly.

(What is it? Is it that weird to see the room clean?) (Lanpeach)

It has finally changed from an interior filled with rubble after all.

He didn’t notice Libra giggling impishly by his side, and completely missed the mark here.
