DCFM – Chapter 046: Melting into the Darkness and Resolve

“…Wait.” (Rifreya)

Just as I was leaving, my hand was grabbed.

Weakly, to the point that it would be easy to shake it off.

When I look back, she had raised her head.

Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were damp.

And she looked up at me with a steamy gaze.

That sight of hers squeezed my heart tightly.

“Hikaru…don’t leave. Please reprimand me more. If you don’t, I…feel like I might mess up more…okay? Scold me more.” (Rifreya)

A plea in tears.

Rifreya wasn’t angry.

She wasn’t angry, but…this isn’t what I expected.

“If you were to leave just like this, I feel like I really might make a mistake… Yesterday when I was waiting at the entrance of the dungeon, countless explorers spoke to me… They were pretty stubborn. There might be a time when I won’t be able to refuse them…” (Rifreya)

“Are you threatening me here?” (Hikaru)

“If I said this, you would stay, right? You are kind, after all, Hikaru.” (Rifreya)

I had no choice but to give up.

I scratched my head and sat back on the bed.

There was a time before where my little sisters coaxed me in a similar fashion.

Is this like a special technique for women?

“Rifreya…how old are you?” (Hikaru)

“Eh? Why so sudden? 16 years old. What about you, Hikaru?” (Rifreya)

“15…no, 17 years old.” (Hikaru)

“I see, so you were older…” (Rifreya)

“What does that mean…?” (Hikaru)

I have simply increased my body age by 2 years, so I am still mentally 15 years old. But maybe because I have had a lot of hardships with my family, I was often seen as an older person in my world.

I think I am the type that has a childish face, but the hardships must have shown in my face.

Anyways, Rifreya is 16 years old, huh… I thought she was older.

“If you are 16, you should be able to think for yourself. You are the one that chooses to follow other people trying to pick you up or not; I have no duty or right to tell you what to do.” (Hikaru)

“Then, you wouldn’t dislike that?” (Rifreya)

She looked straight at me and asked me this.

Rifreya is so sly.

“I wouldn’t like it.” (Hikaru)

“Why? You said just now that you had no duty or right about this.” (Rifreya)

“It is because you are beautiful. I wouldn’t like you being tainted by a random man.” (Hikaru)

“~~~~~~!!” (Rifreya)

“Wa, oi.” (Hikaru)

She suddenly hugged me from the side and was pushed down onto the bed.

“I…am fine if it is with you, Hikaru. No, I don’t want anyone but you… This is my first time feeling like this… Did you know? Even when we are just like this, my heart has been saying it is happy this whole time. Just by feeling your touch and your warmth transmitting to me, I am assailed by an unbearable feeling.” (Rifreya)

Is there a man who wouldn’t fall when being straddled like this and approached this passionately?

If it weren’t for the fact that people from all around the world were watching, who knows what I would have done here.

“Calm down, Rifreya. Idiot, you must still be drunk.” (Hikaru)

“Idiot, you say. Can you say that one more time?” (Rifreya)

“Eh? Idiot, idiot, idiot.” (Hikaru)

“Ehehe, this is my first time being called an idiot.” (Rifreya) <TLN: He is actually saying ‘omae’ which is a really informal way of saying ‘you’. Translates awkwardly.>

She hugged me again tightly.

I felt that heated body with my whole body, and I felt like I myself was heating up.

Even though I was in a bit more of a decent state until now.

“You really should hold back on the alcohol. You will definitely make a mistake. No, you are currently making one.” (Hikaru)

“You think I am doing something like this because I am drunk?” (Rifreya)

“There’s no way you would do something like this if you weren—” (Hikaru)

I was about to finish what I was saying when Rifreya lifted up her body.

With her face bright red.

But those teary eyes were different from that of a drunk person…

“…Pretending to be drunk. If I don’t, I wouldn’t be able to do something so daring as this out of embarrassment.” (Rifreya)

“Good grief… Anyways, I won’t be leaving, so calm down.” (Hikaru)

“You won’t?” (Rifreya)

“As.I.said, I won’t.” (Hikaru)

“Then, I guess I will get picked up by someone~. If you don’t embrace me, Hikaru, I guess I will get embraced by someone else~.” (Rifreya)

“Even if you try to tease me here…” (Hikaru)

I don’t know what tucked at her heartstrings, but I didn’t expect to be attacked in this way.

My mind was completely overloaded to the point I couldn’t even think about the gazes of Earth or the laughs.

“See? You can tell my heart is racing, right?” (Rifreya)

“Wa?!” (Hikaru)

She grabbed my hand and pushed it onto her own breast.

This is my second time feeling this including the time with the prostitute.

But it felt incomparably sweeter than that time, and my heart was on the verge of melting.

“I have been searching for you for several days. At that time, I was always thinking about you, Hikaru. Wondering what he would talk about. What would his smile look like?” (Rifreya)

Her heartbeat I could feel when our skin touched, the heat…that kindness.

It was a temptation hard to fight  against for someone like me who has been surviving in this parallel world all alone.

I want to be forgiven.

I want to be consoled.

I want comfort.

“That’s why…to tell you the truth here, this talk about thanking you is simply an excuse. It was fun after having a meal with you. I simply thought you really were the right person. That’s why…see?” (Rifreya)

“I-Is that so…” (Hikaru)

Her breath caressed my earlobe, and her hot and damp lips grazed my cheek.

Her silk-like hair hanging from her ear flowed down smoothly, and tickled my neck.

Our heated bodies were brought together as if attracted to each other, our skin sticking to each other. My mind was going completely blank here.

The wooden window had been closed but had slight moonlight peeking in from it.

Combined with the faint light of the lantern, my shadow and her shadow overlapped into one.

Only the sound of our breathing could be heard, and the air in this room was rising and melting.

I was on the verge of falling here…

But at that moment…

[Pin Pon Pan. An announcement to the Chosen! From tomorrow on for 2 weeks, we will be holding the 1st Viewer Count Race! We have prepared super wonderful prizes for the Chosen who gather the most attention from the viewers in the span of the event! Please do participate! The big prize for this most auspicious 1st competition is the Resurrection Gem! This is a special item that is impossible to obtain on Earth or the parallel world! Go ahead, come ahead, aim for the 1st spot in this most auspicious 1st competition, and gather those viewers!]

It was as if a cold ice stake was rammed at my back.

A tactless announcement that brought back my heated senses.

“Ah, don’t fondle that hard—eh, Hikaru…? What’s the matter…?” (Rifreya)

“I-I’m sorry… C-Can you please wait for a bit?” (Hikaru)

I hurriedly opened the Status Board.

To Rifreya, I might look like a weirdo who is moving his finger in midair, but I pay no mind to that.

Right now, just what did that announcement say?

The big prize is the Resurrection Gem.

Did it say that?

“H-Hey, what’s the matter, really. You are trembling…” (Rifreya)

“Sorry… Just a bit… Wait for a bit please.” (Hikaru)

I repeated the same thing and my heart was racing for a different reason from just before.

The Status Board had already updated with the details about the Viewer Count Race.

I tapped the Resurrection Gem with my trembling fingers.

[Resurrection Gem: Sacred Treasure. The God Gem that brings back your important someone to life. The ones who died on Earth, the ones who died in the parallel world; it can be used for any of those two. Be careful as this will revive them at the place they died. If it isn’t someone important to you, it won’t be possible to revive them.]

My whole body was sweating profusely.

My heart was drumming to unprecedented levels.

If I get first in the Viewer Count Race, I can revive Nanami?

There’s already no point in doubting the power of God.

If it is saying it can revive the dead, it should be able to.

No matter what God’s plan is, if I can revive Nanami, I…

“Y-You are…acting weird all of a sudden. Are you not feeling well? Wait, kya!” (Rifreya)

I lifted my upper half, and hugged Rifreya.

My decision was instant.

I will take first place.

No matter the method.

…Even if I have to sell my soul to the devil.

“Your repayment…I want to take it.” (Hikaru)

“E-Eh? Yeah, that was my intention, so I am alright with that, but…why the sudden change of mind?” (Rifreya)

“…The circumstances have changed. And so, about this…uhm…can I book it for later?” (Hikaru)

“Book it? As in doing it on another day?” (Rifreya)

“Yeah, this may be weird, but I will definitely take it, so please don’t let any other man have it.” (Hikaru)

I am the worst.

I am thinking about using Rifreya.

It is impossible for me alone to take first place.

But the worse a man the viewers think of me, the less the viewers that hate me will be able to take their eyes off me.

After making a thinking gesture for a bit, Rifreya speaks.

“Booking… I am not against the idea itself, but…just as I said before, I will be leaving this city. My comrades…or more like, the girls from my family that serve me have already left since it was already time. I was planning on returning once I thanked you, Hikaru.” (Rifreya)

“Then, does that mean you won’t be doing explorer work anymore?” (Hikaru)

“Yeah, it is impossible on my own, and partying with others at this point in time is a bit… You may think I am being too self-conscious here, but…the other explorers look at me with lecherous gazes.” (Rifreya)

Entering a party of explorers alone is difficult.

I haven’t even thought about it even when I am always alone.

And Rifreya is a dazzling beauty. If she were to enter a party with men, there’s no doubt she would have a hard time.

“…That’s why, if possible, I would like you to accept my thanks today. If I return to Siltion, I won’t be able to come back here easily anymore.” (Rifreya)

For her, this is probably just a memory in her journey.

But I need her.

Definitely, for the sake of taking first place in the Viewer Count Race and resurrecting Nanami.

“Rifreya, from tomorrow on, will you party with me? …I need you.” (Hikaru)

“E-Eeeeh? I-I would be happy to party with you, but…really, what happened to you? You changed way too drastically all of a sudden.” (Rifreya)

Changed drastically. That must be the case.

I have been living in a way that I wouldn’t stand out, so that the viewers wouldn’t increase.

But in order to revive Nanami, I need to do the exact opposite.

I have to stand out in the flashiest of ways.

If I am being hated and the viewers are watching in amusement, I will take first place even if I have to become a villain.

I am sure I will be hated even more than ever before.

Sympathy will gather around Rifreya, and they might tell the other Chosen ‘she is being deceived’.

But I don’t mind that.

Whatever the price it is…as long as I can take first place…

“When it is all over, I will tell you everything. That’s why, can you please keep me company?” (Hikaru)

“O-Okay. I myself wouldn’t want to return to my home with a half-baked conclusion like this, so being able to join forces with a strong Spirit User like you, Hikaru, is more than I could wish for.” (Rifreya)

“Thanks. Looking forward to working with you from tomorrow on. I will come pick you up in the morning.” (Hikaru)

I lightly kissed the cheek of Rifreya and left while she was dumbfounded.

Rifreya is a dazzling beauty.

I am sure she will gather the eyes of the viewers.

It is not like I am not feeling bad for using her for my benefit.

After everything is over, I will definitely atone for this.

The price for that atonement…I don’t mind even if it is my very life.

  1. I dont exactly know what to feel about this “using a girl who fell head to heels with you” route.. I just hope this wont go somewhat dark

IS IT A FLAG THAT RIFREYA WILL BE DYING OR SOMETHING?…..

  3. Does it really matter though? Yeah he might resurrect her but her parents are still dead and she still won’t be able to talk to him or ever see him again… hell the killer might even spawn camp her or she may resent him bor bringing her back to such a world…

  4. She’s a weird person.
    Also what a cheesy dialogue.
And that announcement, it really looks like it was made for mc to force him to gather views.
    It’s not very healthy.

  6. Good job! You need to be decisive. Bring Nanami back to life and add her to your harem collection like a true Isekai MC. Gotta catch em all.

  7. I feel like he would naturally gain viewer if he talk more about nanami and his reasoning to get win the gem and fighting monsters, if he use the blond girl i think it could backfire

          1. They do have ero channels. So maybe the regular channels won’t show it, but the “adult channels” will show it. Like if the have sex it starts a different livestream channel or something.

          2. Oh I’m sure he will, but gotta read that announcement. “From tomorrow for two weeks”. He wants to wait until it’ll help him win.

    1. When they switched over to Disqus if that is your question, Reigokai san left wordpress, that’s why.

  8. Yeah something is wrong with his head…You’re gonna revive a girl who is scared and now has nothing? Her family is murdered, and her best friend is in another world using a girl to revive a you.
(But…as we all probably know she is somehow gonna revive in this world…[please no])

  9. Rifreya has her own backstory that will explain what drives her (aside from Hikaru), I suspect that people’s perception of her will change after that comes out. Later on she becomes really entertaining (for me at least).

  10. Thanks for the chapter! ^^
The tactlessness and cruelty of this “God” is incredible for dangling under Hikaru’s nose the resurrection gem.
It was the best or worst timing depending of the point of view. I already can see the forums cursing them for the timing of this announcement. x)
Let’s hope the darkest routes we thought of won’t come to be (having to choose between two loved ones or Nanami suiciding after resurrection or Rifreya being a manipulative woman going to hurt him more).
One thing is for sure, the road ahead will be bumpy and with a lot of twists and turns.

  11. I can understand his reason for using Rifreya to increase his viewers. It is not only to revive his childhood friend but prove his innocence and free his family from the ostracization of the Japanese. By reviving her childhood friend, not only will she testify on the real culprit, the haters will be embarrassed and proven wrong.

  12. Thanks for the chapter, quite the twist the author threw there, I get why he is pumped for this, but he is not thinking things through completely.

  13. I was prepared for a lot of things, such as him doing it with Rifreya or completely rejecting her. I was even expecting god to provide some way of reviving Nanami at some point. However, this turn of events is completely unexpected. I certainly did not expect him to provide this Ressurrection Gem here and now, at this timing.

Well done author/god, you got me good.

My initial thoughts was that, if it went organically, Hikaru would have rejected Rifreya’s advances and somehow met her again later in the future. That was the most realistic thing that could happen and would turn this into a slow novel that develops everything in detail. If it went a more tropey route, he would have done her and then regretted it after, and spend time with her to make up for it. That would have been an interesting romance development.

But nope. god says that’s too slow and too reliant on Hikaru’s motivation. Thus, he threw in a Ressurrection Gem. There was 0 chance that Hikaru would pass it up. In his currrent state, he would do everything, even murder, to raise the view count. That’s one evil god, but damn if it is an interesting development. Truly a deus ex machina used in the best way to advance the plot while keeping in line with what has been established beforehand. God ain’t waiting for a possible development in the next 30 episodes, he wants his development in the next episode and he’s going to make it happen.

Rifreya is starting to become suspicious to me. There might be actual love in there, but she is certainly not as pure as I initially thought she was. She does have the capability of a noble for manipulation, as shown when she only pretended to be drunk. However, the reason why I believe that there’s a chance her feelings are true is because she had no benefit from telling him that she was pretending to be drunk. Anyone with half a brain would know that Hikaru’s rejection due to her being drunk is only an excuse. There was no way that revealing she wasn’t drunk would have gotten him in bed with her at that point. If she was trying to honey trap him in order to get a person with clearly superior spiritual powers, she’s going about it all the wrong way. Most of all, she herself did not need to be the one doing the honey trapping, due to her clear inexperience. My conclusion is that she is capable in both battle and intrigue, and there’s a chance that we’ll see her use that intrigue in some way to aid Hikaru later. Well, I could be shooting the wind and that she is completely and utterly trying to honey trap him after all though. So, I’ll keep that at the back of my head.

Some comments have mentioned that Hikaru is gunning for this to clear his name. But, from my perspective, he completely does not have that in mind at all. In fact, his sole motivation is merely to revive Nanami. His trauma still exists, but his motivation is so strong that he is overcoming it with sheer willpower. He has thrown all caution to the wind. If he believes that the audience wants to see him die, he will head to the forest or the dungeon and kill monsters recklessly. He will live life on the very edge, probably held back only by Rifreya. I hope he doesn’t do this, but this seems to be the direction he would be heading, since he would remember that his view count was the highest while he was in the forest.

There is also a chance that he will now open his messages too, to see what he needs to do to gain even more viewers. Hopefully, that will show him that antis are not the only ones watching him and that there are people who support him too. I really look forward to the next board segment. It is going to be nuts.

  14. Thanks for the chapter!!
    LETS GOOOO
    HIKARU YOU TAKE THE LEAD
I LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING YEAHHHHHHHHHHH

  15. I’m still not sold on Rifreya’s motivation. Love at first sight seems so out of place, especially since she can feign being drunk for a long period of time without tipping Hikari off. Not really a templar type move. I think that she wants to use him as well and is using sex as a way to bind him.

    1. Yeah, she’s kind of inconsistent and manipulative so not taking any of her stated motivations at face value is wise.

    2. Hikaru is drunk himself so it’s not that surprising he didn’t notice.

It’s an interesting idea but Rifreya has come across as very straightforward and forceful. Her manipulation is so obvious that even Hikaru noticed it.

Well, it’s possible that her interest isn’t normal love but some kind of obsessive love of his strength or spirit abilities.

  16. Hikaru might feel a bit bad about it, but it looks like he isn’t planning on actually sleeping with her. Rifreya was planning to sleep with him despite knowing he didn’t exactly feel the same way so is it really so bad?

I wonder if Rifreya would really be all that upset if/when she finds out? Wouldn’t she be pretty understanding consider how much Hikaru has opened up to her? Plus, she’s really not losing out on anything and he’s not promised her anything beyond that he’ll sleep with her eventually but like, the event only for two weeks anyway.

Hikaru will probably have to use the resurrection gem on Rifreya instead of Nanami. Then again, if even if he used it on Nanami she’d just revive back on Earth, so that wouldn’t be so bad from a story perspective.

Some other commenters are really obsessed with the antis but they are barely present in the bullet board chapters anymore. I really wonder if they are an issue anymore. And people jealous because Hikaru is popular with girls aren’t really the serious kind of antis that bothered Hikaru in the first place.

    1. She’s engaging in emotional manipulation in order to make him sleep with her, had the roles been reversed people would be livid.

  17. Well, shit. Normally I’d say asking for permission is a higher risk move than asking forgiveness in this scenario, but Hikaru isn’t the only person around who could tell Rifreya about the contest. There’s Alex, who was shown interested in Rifreya and knows about Hikaru. Not sure how his plan would shake out anyway, given that there are already people working that angle.

  18. Uh I think Rifreya may have some masochistic tendencies. She wants Hikaru to keep reprimanding and scolding her and was happy being called an idiot by him. Anyways she isn’t backing down when Hikaru tried to talk sense into her about getting together with him. It might be the Suspension Bridge effect but she doesn’t care.

And now that god is showing how scummy he is. This event is clearly meant to force Hikaru to act probably for his own amusement. I mean it was pretty obvious that Hikaru was specifically chosen to take the place of his murdered friend and placed in a situation where he could be framed for murder without a way to defend himself. Then it’s only after Hikaru successfully escapes the forest and is happy to be alive that god makes it so people can give messages to Chosen and makes it so only the ones with the most intense emotions are the ones to get through to the Chosen. Now that Hikaru is trying to leave, god just suddenly makes an event with the reward being a gem to resurrect someone when Hikaru would obviously be the one it would mean the most too and thus force his to act.

Anyways I can understand why Hikaru has decided to use Rifreya. It’s definitely messed up but Hikaru is a broken man so now that a big fat carrot has been dangled in front of him, he’ll desperately do whatever it takes to get the reward no matter how low he has to sink. That said, his sisters and fans will have probably very easily seen through his thoughts and support him while Hikaru probably won’t even do anything particularly bad or take much advantage of Rifreya despite saying he’ll be a villain if it’ll help him resurrect Nanami.

    1. Even I he do, like you said Rifreya may have masochistic tendencies so she will like it instead. And I do believe that somewhat somehow she will know that Hikaru is acting weird.
Since he Cleary showed her his composed and diligent(?) self, and able to extract information of why and maybe know his origins and the reason of why he’s looking desperate, and then, backfiring again, falling more to him since she saw that he would do anything to help/save his loved ones.

  19. Gonna bring back his childhood friend?
I wonder if he’ll actually get the prize though.
Although he does seem to be the only one who has a motive to bring someone back. Not that that’s saying much since only a few other isekai’d have had any amount of screen time. And barely anymore have been mentioned.

  20. Supposing even if he won and resurrect Nanami, Nanami would probably suicide and kill herself back.

She would be revived in a a situation where her family are brutally massacred, and her childhood friend being sent to isekai instead of herself. She gonna be feeling hella guilty and blame herself for all of the events happening to her family, hikaru’s family (being ostracized by society, house burned etc), and hikaru’s hardship in isekai.

Supposing even if hikaru become happy and get together with refreiya, and she saw that, she would definitely fall into more state of depression. After all, while she is having hard time swallowing everything that happened just because she’s the chosen one, she saw hikaru being happy in another world with girl other than her.

So Nanami being revived is actually very bad thing because she probably don’t want to even be revived at this point.

But I guess author won’t probably let hikaru revive Nanami because it will be too hard for her to even live now, so hikaru probaby either not winning, or winning at the cost of refreiya and having to revive her (refreiya) back

    1. he gunna try to revive Nanami and it gunna be like
“You can’t revive someone who is alive” BOOOM

    2. LOL You give me a bad feling now. Imagine that she revives and because she died after being choosen she get her mark and Hykaru lose his powers ? He alreay set the flag about how lose the translator will screw him and we alreay know that god likes to screw him. Thus he will read the message in order to find info about what happened thus know Nanami got her mark again(that was the master plan of god!!!!) and got herself summoned after being revived. Thus start the 4 arc he have to beg her new master Jeane to help him found her friend and they start a new journey to the next city (Demon realm?)

  21. Thanks for this bittersweet chapter!
I think the author is really good in describing love scenes… I hope he will give us more!
And agree with the others, that is a not so friendly and kind of sus god…

  22. I’m guessing that even if Nanami gets revived, there will be some serious consequences… I mean… everything that has happened so far has always screwed with Hikaru…
    Thanks for the chapter ~

  23. I sense a bit of favoritism from God here. Hikaru taking over when his childhood friend died obviously wasn’t a coincidence, but said God seeking entertainment. Then, having Hikaru grab the top spot early caught his attention. Now that his his favorite toy is intentionally going out of his way to be boring, he can’t have that. Thus, God is bringing out the carrot.

I’m not saying that there aren’t other Chosen who will be incentivized, but if Hikaru moves, who can actually challenge him? Not only that, but if its Chosen who brought loved ones, then their loss is a part of their story and makes them interesting, whereas Hikaru’s loss makes him boring. This reward is clear the favoritism of a cruel God looking to motivate their favorite plaything into dancing for them some more.

    1. I don’t know if “favoritism” is the right word. Consider the timing of this, then him before doing the message system at the moment MC has made it to down full of hope. This is his… entertainment.

    2. “favoritism “? It totally sounds like bait XD. He doesnt want Hykaru to get better thus the timing with the event. The same happened after he get out of the woods. One time will be one thng 2 a coincidence 3 there is a pattern. It wouldnt be surprise if he as well arenged that he met Jeane in order to give him hope so after give him despair when he fails. That will be far worse than he just keep living like before.

  24. Thanks for the chapter

What is it with God with his timing? its clear he picked Hikaru after Nanami died, the timing of some of its announcements such as when he left the forest, this, what is with him…. its so sus, and Hikaru, please dont break, i feel so bad for him, author really doing a good work on making it so one does feel like one more of those on Hikaru BB, like another viewer reacting real time to him

  25. I’m guessing that because of him rifreya will die, and after getting the resurrection gem he’ll have to choose between nanami and rifreya for who to revived then he’ll have a hard time choosing between the two, because he’s already have feelings for rifreya, Damn, I don’t want that happen that was really dark of me….

  26. I feel like his attempt to play the villain is gonna go wrong in some manner and for some reason unless it’s to clear his name of murder from her testimony I kinda doubt it’ll be this easy to revive her this early, betting on being forced to make a choice or sacrifice something in return if he ends up winning it.

    1. Most likely at the end of the arc
A: He will try to use her and take advantage of her felings but he will fall in love and lose her at the end(probably out of guilt he will reject her even tough not both are in love)This is almost a fact.
B: He will lose the competition maybe for some reason related to her or the canadian guy
C: He will get depressed but then will probably think about the option about buy it or steal it(out of desperation) from the winner. Thus start the new arc with he becoming more desperate and twisted.
The winner and this is totally 100% a fact after all the flags is Jeanne thus he get to know her and she will fight him after find out from the message that he wants the orb, thus they fight but he will probably lose because he cant kill her even if that means give up revive Nanami. When she hear why he wants the orb she will give it but in exchange will have him become her servant or slave after see how powerful he is.
Until now for what the people told ine the board chapters Hykaru and Jean are the 2 more strongest of the summoned ones.

  27. Thanks for the, “heated”, chapter!

I knew about this part when I searched for some spoilers, but I thought it would happen more later on…

  28. Protagonists that see themselves as selfish villains that everyone around thinks of as a good person sure are prevalent. So edgy but no matter how sharp the edge on a soft sponge, no one cares.

    1. I have to agree I kinda doubt he will he able to truly act the villain, if anything its gonna be painfully obvious to the viewers and the sisters will expose his reasoning for certain. He gonna be hella embarrassed if he ever gets the courage to read them messages again

  29. Thank you for the chapter.

Damn, Hikaru. Careful there, you’re gonna make a lot of enemies like this.

Though sadly I don’t think it’s gonna be that easy to resurrect Nanami even if he did win the contest. I mean, in line with the overall tone of this novel, pretty much everything has gone wrong for our boy. It’s like he’s destined to be a dark, broken MC. But frankly, that’s also one of the appeals of this novel. I do hope he’s going to be better, though.

  30. AHAHAHAHA, this bitch of a god! Good one! Also, Hikaru the blackhearted and almost lucky bastard! I enjoyed this so much. Oh, boy…
As always, my compliments to Reigo-san’s hard work.

  31. Assuming he wins and revive his childhood friend… What’s stopping the lowlife who killed her, from killing her again right as she revive because he’s watching Hikaru and knows when he revive her.

    1. There will be others watching and hopefully they will be smart enough to have people ready to receive her as she will be able to give a testimony about what happened

    2. other people, and even if he does, look on the bright side! since hikaru is not on earth, then he is basically proven to be innocent.

    3. There’s no point in it. Killing Nanami again won’t let the guy get transported to the other world. Plus it says in the description that will also be copied to the god’s website that the revived person will revive in the location where they died. Anybody would thus know that Nanami would revive in her home so they could put guards there to prevent anything from happening. Karen and Celica are definitely big brain enough to think of that possibility and hire guards to make sure nothing happens. They’re rich enough to afford it and heck they may even just buy up the house so that they can keep a watch over it.

  32. Thanks for the chapter!

So Hikaru is going full villain route… Or so he thinks! He probably won’t be able to do so.

  33. I’m torn in this turn of events. On one side, he’s accepting her advances, but on the other it’s mostly for self gain, which is also not for himself but Nanami…..!

I hope she’s not too mad when she finds out….

      1. The timing with the mesegae after he left the woods was the same. Is already a fact god have something against him, the question is “Why?” And is like he wants to torment him not just kill him.

    1. Desperation can really push someone to the limit. In Hikaru’s case, he cast his pride, dignity and values in order to have a chance to revive Nanami.

        1. Yeah, very painful indeed. The twins can only support him indirectly and nothing more, and that is the most frustrating thing of all. seeing your love ones suffer and can’t do anything to directly help must be eating those girls up slowly.

          1. They are good girls, but man, hikaru is being stuck between a ROAD ROlla-da and god himself. both want to fuck him up.

    1. Not necessarily on Rifreya but yeah, I can definitely see him having to choose between two people at the end…

      1. LOL it totally give that vibe and probably Rifreya will find out, thus will feel guilt and think he hate her but he keep silent about it. Most likely the canadian guy probably will tell her he lost because of her thus she leaves when Hykaru reject her.

    2. That or he will have to give up because Rifreya will end up bad wounded thus he will have to take care of herbecause she doesnt have any more servants, losing the oportunity to keep on the 1 place.
It seems the author will do something like he will start to grow up trough painful experincies rather than a happy go lucky fellow(tue character with full plot armor), at least that is the impresion after the epilogue(the woods)part.
Oh yea and 100% he will fall in love with her that is almost a fact but for sure will reject be with her (because or guilt or want to protect her from make a show of her to the earth viewers).

    3. I’m getting a sinking feeling for that too. considering he decided to plant such a delicious looking flag as saving their first time for later, there’s no way he won’t be using it on her and it’s going to destroy him.

  34. I somehow feel like that’s the absolute wrong way to do this. The viewers will probably know about the contest and know he’s using this girl to further his own wants. We’ll, I hope he can get through this without messing things up too hard.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  35. I don’t know how to feel about this. He’s underr the misunderstanding that people views him as the bad guy, so to gather more views he’s gonna go full villain mode?

    Thanks for the chapter

  36. Hmmm, i finally caught with the chapter. Anyways thanks for the chapter.
The announcement really cockblock the heated situation.. 😏 😂

    1. Using a girl’s feelings for you to bring back another girl to your life? Selfish motherfucker now i understand the antis.

      1. What do you want? He lost one of the closest person to him, he’s been placed in a situation where it looks like he killed her and he can’t even really defend himself from the allegations and he’s now a broken man who believes everyone is persecuting him. Now he just got an opportunity presented to him to revive Nanami who can also clear his name. If he has to take advantage of another person to achieve his goal then so be it. You know the saying about a drowning man will grasp onto any straw? This is like that.

    2. to be fair, one, nanami would revive on Earth not on the isekai, as well that her death was untimely and just sad, he knows its scummy but its sadly a broken man’s last hope, which comes with that if he doesnt get it or fails, he will enter an even bigger depression, God is a scumbag, what is is with MCs in this site having to deal with moody Gods

Damn that’s some resolve you have there dude. I really respect you Hikaru. I hope he manages to revive Nanami and finally kicks those ass*ole who accuse him of killing Nanami.

      1. He has the resolve, but his mindset is no good. With a mindset like that, he might even end up dead or severely injured.
Why do I feel like Rifreya will die and Hikaru will end up using the Ressurection Gem on her ?

      2. Well in his current state it can’t be helped that he acting recklessly. Since basically, Hikaru already fell into despair he thinks that he lost everything in his life. That’s why this gem of resurrection is the only way to bring back his last hope, which is Nanami. He doesn’t care what will happens to him as long as he can revive his dearest one and clean his name. While I don’t know if he will succeed to bring back Nanami or not I think that the announcement in this kind of timing is really suspicious to me. It’s like the Gods playing around with Hikaru’s life even though he almost got Rifreya.

  37. Oof… This is definitely how I expect things would go… This is definitely a bad direction… That God is definitely malicious to do this at this timing. We just nearly get not-depressed Hikaru… Thanks for the chapter.

    1. Im putting myself in the shoes of Hikaru in the first part, andni already fallen on Rifreyas temptation, hahahahaha.

I think the revival gem is a way for god to let Hilaru alone to be active again so that earth voewers will see him. The purpose of god in this game are for them to compete one another. What Hikaru doing so far are staled and boring way to adventure and gain viewership.

Eventually, i think god is slowly ingrained them the greediness for the reward for how useful it is. There would be time they need to battle it out because they need the item for how OP it is.

I am theorizing in the future, this will tur nto battle royal isekai

      1. I think God mainly look at Hikaru and make situation base on him. The first time is add message function when Hikaru got out of forest and this time add event when he try to do something with Rifreya. The timing is too suspicious.

    1. “After everything is over, I will definitely atone for this.
The price for that atonement…I don’t mind even if it is my very life.”
No no no, you were on the right track just now ! Is God playing with Hikaru ? A Ressurection Gem of all things ? Don’t try to kill yourself ! If you are too reckless, you are going to drag Rifreya in your mess.

      1. [Tired grim tone] And that will bring him into a delicious dilemma, whom to resurrect. x2 Haters, now with Rafi’s fans added, x2 guilt, and an extra thick lesson, ‘Always stay in darkness, no matter what or who’
