If I remember correctly, it was when we were in our third year of elementary school.

After school finished, we would usually gather.

A group of five people, with 3 boys and 2 girls.

There was me and Takatsuki-kun in that group.

Takatsuki and I who lived close by were always the first ones to arrive.

β€œThat’s not it. Sakurai-kun always rang my intercom every time. Even though I wanted to stay home.” (Makoto)

I feel like that’s true.

β€œIn the first place, I always said that I would go if I can, right? There was one time when I was playing a newly released game…” (Makoto)

β€œ…You haven’t changed much from middle school, Takatsuki-kun.” (Aya)

Takatsuki-kun was feeling slightly awkward speaking about the past, and Sasaki-san was smiling wryly.

Well, anyways, we were a group of neighbors that gathered pretty often.

On clear weekdays, we would play outside.

On rainy days, we would play in someone’s house.

That’s how we passed our everyday.

One day, there was an old man who told us he would give us candy.

He was all smiles as he spoke to us.

At some point in time, he showed up in the small park we would often play in.

His appearance was normal, and didn’t look suspicious.

He looked like a really kind old man.

β€œHere, I will give this to you energetic kids.” 

He would always have a variety of candies.

At first, I thought it was suspicious, but he said that he was walking his dog, and when we saw the cute pomeranian, the girls loosened their guard.

The dog was so cute that, by the time we noticed, playing with the small dog and the old man had become a daily thing.

We didn’t think too deeply about it.

β€œSuspicious.” (Aya)

β€œYeah, can’t say anything for certain though…” (Fuji)

Sasaki-san and Fujiwara-kun were showing doubt.Β 

Takatsuki-kun was listening with his chin resting on one hand.

He hasn’t forgotten, right?

It was fun for a while thinking that a cute small dog had become a part of our play partners.Β 

And then…something happened.

The old man that was always smiling…was different that day.

He didn’t bring the usual little dog.

But we weren’t wary.

It was a small park with apartment buildings surrounding it.

He told us he would give us candy and we followed.

When we were in the shadows of the trees at a place that’s hard for the surroundings to see, the man showed his true nature.

β€œEh? Could it be…” (Fuji)

β€œYeah, he was a degenerate that aimed for young girls.” (Sakurai)

β€œNo…” (Fuji)

Sasaki-san and Fujiwara-kun frown.

That man suddenly punched Takatsuki-kun, me, and the boys to shut us up.

He tried to take off the clothes of the scared girls.

β€œN-No way.” (Chris)

The Makkaren noble, Chris-san, was holding the hand of the rabbit-eared woman slightly scared.

β€œIt was the first time I had been punched by an adult stranger. It hurt and it was scary. But I thought I couldn’t let this continue, so I tried to face him.” (Sakurai)

β€œW-Wow, you have courage, Sakurai-kun.” (Aya)

Sasaki-san was surprised.

β€œBut if it is the Light Hero-sama, there should be no problem, right?” (Nina)

The girlfriend of Fujiwara-kun called Nina-san tilted her head in confusion.

β€œIn our world, I was no Hero no nothing, just a plain powerless child. Me and the one other boy were, in the end, beaten up by the degenerate.” (Sakurai)

It was mortifying.

We trusted a man like this. I cursed our stupidity for unsuspectingly following him.

My friends were punched, and the girls were crying.Β 

In this situation where we could do nothing…

β€œCouldn’t you just shout real loud?”, Sasaki-san asks.

β€œWe tried to call for help, in a really loud voice. The girls were crying loud too. But the park has children playing around to begin with, and children making a ruckus is an usual thing. No one came to our rescue.” (Sakurai)

β€œWhat a bold crime this was…” (Fujiwara)

It really was.

Using a small dog to lower our vigilance, and using a blindspot in the middle of the city to commit his crime.

I wasn’t told in detail, but he might have been a recurrent criminal.Β 

β€œEh? And Makoto? What happened to Makoto?” (Lucy)

β€œ…”

The red haired elf, Lucy-san, shook the shoulder of Takatsuki-kun.

Takatsuki-kun must be remembering that time, his eyebrows were furrowed.

It is rare to see him make that face.

β€œAnd so, and so?” (Aya)

Sasaki-san urges me to continue.

β€œI thought we were done for. My whole body was in pain from all the punching, and I couldn’t shout in my state either. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what was going to happen, but my body was trembling in fear. The other boy lost consciousness. It was despairing.” (Sakurai)

At that moment…

Pang!

We certainly heard a strange sound.

The degenerate didn’t hear it.

His concentration was directed on the scared girls.

At the moment when he stretched that vicious hand of his…

That strange sound resonated consecutively.

He explained, excluding what he did.

β€œWhat do you mean by that?” (Fuji)

β€œIn the time when we were distracting him, Takatsuki-kun broke the windows of the first floor apartment buildings close by, and caused a ruckus.” (Sakurai)

I concluded.

Saki, Fujiwara-kun, and Sasaki-san once again opened their mouths wide.

Takatsuki-kun had a bitter expression.

Chris-san made a questioning look.

A person not of our world would make that kind of reaction.

β€œIn our world, one broken window makes quite the uproar. It is a peaceful city with no monsters after all.” (Makoto)

Takatsuki-kun says in a mutter.

β€œTakatsuki-kun, it wasn’t just one. You broke ALL the windows of the apartments close by.” (Sakurai)

This was something I learned about later though.

I was surprised at how he could do that without hesitation.

β€œHuh…but how? Were there rocks just lying around for use? The area around the apartment buildings Takatsuki-kun lives in are well-maintained and don’t even have small rocks lying around, right?” (Aya)

Sasaki-san has gone to the apartment of Takatsuki-kun?Β 

Takatsuki-kun made a displeased expression at that question and said…

β€œ…I carried them around. A whole lot of iron balls to break windows.” (Makoto)

β€œβ€œβ€œ……..Huh?”””

Sasaki-san, Fujiwara-kun, and Saki look at Takatsuki-kun.

Yeah, that shocked me too when I heard it.

Takatsuki-kun begins speaking with a pout.

β€œ…At that time, I was into western games. There was a game where a whole lot of police officers would gather when the main character rampaged in the city. In that game, you shot guns and threw grenades, but that’s impossible in Japan, right? I thought that, instead of that, I could, you know…break the windows of private houses. I wanted to test how many police officers would gather.” (Makoto)

β€œThat’s why you were carrying stuff around to break glass?” (Aya)

Sasaki-san said in admiration.Β 

β€œI thought there would be a time when I would get a chance to try it out… A cute prank of a grade schooler, don’t you think?” (Makoto)

Takatsuki-kun says sulky.

β€œCute…is it?” (Fuji)

Fujiwara-kun was confused.

β€œTakatsuki-kun, gamer brain…” (Aya)

β€œShut up, Sa-san. It is a dark past of mine! After that, I was scolded a whole lot by my teacher and my parents!” (Makoto)

Takatsuki-kun held his head and shouted β€˜Agh!’.

Aah, I see.

That did happen.

He said he was dissatisfied that he was scolded.

β€œBut thanks to that we were saved.” (Sakurai)

β€œYeah! Even though it was my quick wittedness at work here, the next day, the heroes were Sakurai-kun and the other boy! I had to write 20 pages of apology! That’s not fair.” (Makoto)

β€œAah, is that so. By the way, how many windows did you break?” (Aya)

Sasaki-san asks as if sympathizing.Β 

Takatsuki-kun grinned at that question.

β€œNumber destroyed: 11. Accuracy: 90%. Quite good, don’t you think? I wrote that in my apology.” (Makoto)

β€œYou didn’t reflect at all!” (Aya)

β€œI was scolded even more. Wonder why.” (Makoto)

β€œAre you an idiot?!” (Aya)

Takatsuki-kun and Sasaki-san were doing a comedy routine there.Β 

It has been a while since I have spoken to Takatsuki-kun this much. It is fun.

He really doesn’t change.

He walks to his own tune, always talking about games.

He is the same as in the past.

Memories of those times flow back to me.

It has been a while since I have been able to relax and talk to Takatsuki-kun like this.

I take the glass of alcohol offered to me, and gulp it down in one go.

Sakurai-kun fell asleep with one glass.

β€œIt seems he actually wanted you to enter the Sun Knights, Takatsuki-kun. But you have become the Hero of Rozes, so he can’t invite you anymore, which made him sad.” (Saki)

Sakurai-kun was serious?!Β 

I won’t join the army…wait, Heroes are in a sense from the army, huh.

β€œThen, Ryosuke has fallen asleep, so we will be going now, okay?” (Saki)

Saying this, Yokoyama-san princess carries Sakurai-kun.

Seeing the slender Yokoyama-san carry Sakurai-kun so easily, it does make me think that this really is an Isekai.

The members are completely different from that time in 3rd year of elementary school, but this kind of stuff doesn’t sound bad.

    With the imminent revival of the Demon Lord i don’t think that the “reincarnation of the Savior Abel” should be someone who gets pushed around like a loser. If he doesn’t like how they treat him, ordering him to impregnate women he doesn’t even know, he can just say he will go somewhere else LOL

  5. Well, that happened. Smart kid, he’s used to fighting dirty since a wee lad. Loose screw makes your brain flexible after all, heh.

    Poor guy, that Sakurai. Now he’s no longer just a stock hero. Really the character development in this title is great. And well, even if Makoto can’t be part of the Sun Knights, they can fight together as fellow heroes so that works out somewhat.

    Fuck those adults that scolded you for it and praised Sakurai though. He was brave, but the one who kept a level head was the one that saved them. If the adults want him to take responsibility for breaking the windows, then they should take responsibility for ignoring the screams of children first.

    Geez though. The Light Hero is being used as breeding stock? I feel pretty bad for him now. No wonder his blood tastes awful.

    1. In that case, you would have to factor the strength of a child in it. Makoto isn’t the physical type. He carried them around (minimum of 12), so they are most definitely small in size. A few hits from iron balls won’t knock him out.
      Judging from the distance he would require to deal decent damage, one single dash from the adult would close the distance and it would be over.
      What Makoto did was most likely the most effective way to deal with it, and the fact that police and many people gathered made it impossible for the criminal to escape.
      It was checkmate for that scum.

      1. i am not questioning the effectiveness of his strategy, but those were hits capable of breaking windows, and from enough distance as not to be caught, one or two in the head can be pretty damaging

  11. Guys check this out. If you were in Sakurai’s position, would you just accept all that?

    He is being bred like an animal, and they even tried to kill him. In his position, I would have said: “Fine I get it, I’ll leave. I’ll give you the same treatment when the Demon King appears”
    “Also, you want my semen?, That’ll be 100kg of gold per drop motherfuckers. I’m not a literal stallion you can just breed”

    He doesn’t need them, THEY need him. He shouldn’t be putting up with all that shit.

His options are more limited than that, they are providing him, with a place to live, means to survive and mosnters to slain so he can increase his lifespan, not to mention that if he goes to another country, wich assurences he has that they won’t ask the same from him?? It would be nice if he could just do as he wishes but it isn’t so simple.

      1. He has the possibility to work as an adventurer and live as a free man. Just like Makoto before becoming the water hero. Doesn’t he?

No he can’t, he is to valuable for anyone just to leave him be, Makoto pulled it off because he was weak and no one was interesrted enough in him to care for what he does and with whom, Sakurai isn’t. If he quits, then someone somewhere will plan to eliminate him because he is to powerfull to have as an adversary. Any adventure guikd he goes to will be pressured by the goverment or royalty of that place to convince him to work for the goverment at some point, directly or indirectly. Not to mention all of the scham adventures that would want to form a party with him with secret intentions or things like that.

    2. Politics are kinda like that, I find. The powerful in theory tend to have little power against the system.

      That said, he should have some pretty strong bargaining power just by threatening to leave at all, so I could see him making them back off.

    Hahahaha! He hasn’t changed! He really does have a gamer brain. Plus he seems to have a naturally dense streak but about what I don’t know, the denseness is itself dense.

    I can’t wait to find out about what happened in their 4th year!

    Also Takki-dono, please help out Sakurai when you can. Don’t act like a stranger anymore. It is somewhat sad that you felt like you couldn’t hang around with him anymore and distances yourself.

    It is slightly saddening that Sakurai isn’t himself a secret gamer or something. You know a sports gamer or similar. Oh well that is fine. This was still good.

    Poor Sakurai. That whole breeding program doesn’t seem to be his choice at all. Don’t judge him so harshly Extremely Scary, Extremely Powerful, Baba Yaga Sage-sama… maybe I should just call her EX-Baba Yaga.

  22. Being a hero sounds like a pain. This chapter does a good job in developing the characters and there relationships. It also delves into makotos dark past which is fun.

    Sakurai was being depleted by several high class woman every night it seems.
    All he have to do was lie in the bed and wait until he was depleted.

    I know someone in another Isekai that at first he was so aggressive that the woman calls for reinforcement and is ok to make a harem because she can;t endure the attack and aggressiveness of the MC. Then, the reinforcement came and said the same thing. Then another reinforcement was invited and they were very satisfied. Another reinforcement came, and then came again, and then another batch came in, until the time MC was teary to his pet every morning feeling depleted and with mental strain…

    The latest action of that MC would be, instead of one by one, he was attacked several at once at night… More tears for MC

      Noah has to be the first wife, she is gunning for it full throttle.

      Mary had her eyes on Takki-dono first but I don’t know if she is after him as a husband or as more of a conquest per se.

      Yup. Lucy and Sa-san seem to have taken something away from Saki and Eri, they may well become allies in this context. Yay! I wonder how they will approach Sofia-hime about this…

      Does anyone else think Takki-dono will get more harem candidates? I hope he does.

      1. I wonder. Whenever there is talk about his love interests it’s about Lucy and Aya and lately some mentions about Sofia. Is like Mary no longer exists or he was never interested in her.

        1. Well Mary has had very little to no presence recently what with Takki-dono and co. being out of Makkaren so much, people just seem to forget her. Plus although she was clearly gunning for Takki-dono it wasn’t ever clear if she considered him a genuine love interest or not. Where as Lucy, Aya and Sofia all genuinly, and clearly, want to spend the rest of their lives with Takki-dono

    1. I get the feeling it is being saved for later. More dark history to uncover. I wonder what Takki-dono will do to try to hide/keep secret his dark past. Maybe try to have Sakurai get drunk again. Only for Sa-san to stop him and Lucy to prompt Sakurai to continue whilst Sa-san holds Takki-dono back.

That way if he later decides to make her joining Makoto’s harem, then he can pull the royal family rule about not letting them having sex before marriage, while the king still forces Sakurai to have sex with his other fiancΓ©es.

      You know how Japs are really furious with purity, right? That’s just a safe shit to cope with if the fans somehow like her. There is that isekai where the author decided to stop writing his story because he had fans’ favourite girl non-virgin and that made some of autists raged on him. Well he already said she was a ninja and her jobs were mostly becoming spy in any places including in red light district, but it still doesn’t save him from the excuse according to them. So yeah, it’s better to keep her v-card ambiguously.

      In my personal opinion, maybe the golem monster from before (was it? Once again i forgot) that is an Ally of Noah could be the clue to what her specialty is? I mean, like what material is he made of or what skills/specialty does he have?

Also that the Hero of Light has huge popularity amongst the people. Having Sakurai and Noel, who is the Light Oracle, wed would be a gigantic boost to the morale of all the human kingdoms especially if Sakurai has a kid with her and their kid will inherit the throne.     3. I think because history and Sakurai proved that the light hero is OP is what made people follow the king’s order and prevented a civil war.

    Sakurai was being depleted by several high class woman every night it seems.

    I know someone in another Isekai that at first he was so aggressive that the woman calls for reinforcement and is ok to make a harem because she can;t endure the attack and aggressiveness of the MC. Then, the reinforcement came and said the same thing. Then another reinforcement was invited and they were very satisfied.
