Tsuki – Extra 46: Manga SS – Plucked out talent

–Now that I think about it, what was the correct answer?

–Where did I go wrong?

At an extravagant room that would be able to take the space of several small houses, Tomoki, who had been living a pretty decent quality of life in Japan as well, hadn’t even seen  this level of extravagance before, but now, this is his room.

They told him with an apologetic tone ‘this is a narrow place, but it is only temporary, so please bear with it for now’, and the place they guided him was this.

When preparations are done, just what kind of room will he be living in?

The hero that descended into the Gritonia Empire, Iwahashi Tomoki, was thinking as he made a dry laugh, and for now, he calmed down.

And then, when his expression changed to a dark one, he remembered his bitter past.

Why did he become the target of bullying?

Even now, he hasn’t been able to find an answer he can be satisfied with, and it is a big worry of his that is always occupying a side of his mind.

Those worries are…

-What should I have done to avoid it?

-What was the correct way to act?

Those kind of questions.

(Should I have just gone all the way for a plastic surgery?)

He was popular with the girls.

He thinks the biggest reason for the bullying was this.

Physical activity wasn’t a specialty of his and his body was slender, but he was tall.

His face was like that of a delicate beauty that one would think came straight from a shoujo manga.

He himself didn’t do anything special to his skin, and yet, his skin was also beautiful.

That’s why, even before entering middle-school, at elementary school and kindergarten, girls would swarm him as well.

In regards to that, it wasn’t all rose and flowers.

Because there were many cases when he would be shown way too excessive goodwill including skinship, he had been cornered to the point where he was close to having gynophobia.

But after he began going out with one of them, and obtaining experience with a few more, the wound in his heart was able to recover to a slight degree.

In reality, the reason why Tomoki was popular with the girls was not thanks to his face alone.

…The reason for being bullied was also not because of that alone though.

Maybe because he has been in that kind of environment since infancy, from the bottom of his heart, Tomoki has acted kindly towards women, and has obtained the ability to hear out the conversations of the girls with a demeanor of interest.

The clothes and accessories he wore felt like a natural mesh; his fashion sense was a natural high.

Compared to the guys of the same age, Tomoki looked like an incredibly mature person in the eyes of the girls.

When he was in the late years of middle school, his father, who works in the advertisement industry, had asked him a few times to be a model, and Tomoki has decorated a number of pages before.

A household that doesn’t have any incommodities, a body and face that is enough for people to request him to be a model, on top of that, fashionable.

In elementary to middle school, his body and heart matured even more, and with that, there was no way that he wouldn’t stand out.

The wider his outlook, the more charming he was.

(Maybe it was a bad idea to be involved in modeling? But someone like me, who was asked a favor from his parent, would at most get a role as a stand-in, and I don’t remember ever flaunting about it. I knew well that I only got those kind of roles because my father coincidentally was in that kind of industry. What I was doing was literally earning pocket money.) (Tomoki)

Tomoki stood up from the sofa, threw his body onto the big bed, and lets out a sigh.

It is completely wrong.

…At the age of middle school and high school, those are the times when the words like talent are the most prominent.

Envy from the same sex, occasional jealousy from the opposite sex…

But at that time, Tomoki was disconcerted thinking that what he did everyone else could do.

It is true that, at first, he was selected because of the job of his father, but it is rare to be called to be a model several times.

If whichever one of the parents were quite the famous people, it would be possible to be called several times.

But…Tomoki’s father may have been a capable person, but he was by no means someone in the casting department or someone who had enough influence to use his name as authority.

In the first place, stand-ins are not things that happen often.

The surroundings had noticed a long time ago.

That Tomoki had the talent for that area.

Meaning that it was due to the influence of his parents.

And in reality, his father had received several contracts from companies asking to employ his son.

At the very least, since Tomoki’s second year of middle school, he has been asked to work not as a stand-in, but actual work.

But towards his son that hadn’t noticed his own talent at all and just worked as if it were a pain, his father told him that he would increase his allowance, so to please help him out to save him face. He would quickly bring talk to Tomoki about sudden requests for stand-ins.

They have spoken as father and son a number of times.

About whether he would want to work seriously as a model.

About consulting with the teacher of his current school and choosing a high school that would accommodate such work.

But because his father was saying the complete opposite of what he told him when he was featured in pages of a magazine: ‘Don’t think it was your ability’, ‘don’t get conceited’, and ‘studying comes first’, his current words didn’t resonate much in his son.

(Give me a break. In the entertainment industry, no matter if it is a model, performer, or actor, only a few handful manage to survive. It is a world where you have to pass your whole life in a scraping battle of talent and individuality. There’s no way I would survive in there. Why would my father bring out such stupid talk. Before entering middle school, he would always tell me ‘study for the private school exams’, ‘don’t drop your grades’. That’s all he talked about, and yet…) (Tomoki)

When entering the photo shoot, Tomoki would obviously meet other models.

Whether they be men or women.

In there, it was a place for serious battle.

For Tomoki who came there with the intention to gain pocket money, with the feel of doing a part-time job, it was simply like looking at the opposite side of the shore, but he had gulped his breath at how grand it was.

Look a bit better than the others.

Be in the lenses for a bit longer than the others.

—More than anyone here.

In this battle that felt like a spiral of resentment, for Tomoki who had no resolve at all, it wasn’t a peaceful sight like that of scooping water, but the very depiction of ogres hitting each other with metal rods.

But within those ogres, there were some that were harsh, but most of them interacted with Tomoki as kind brothers or sisters.

There was even a child actor that had gotten attached to him and treated him like a true older brother.

Tomoki saw this as them considering him an outside existence in their battle world, and that made him feel relieved.

But it was the contrary.

Iwahashi Tomoki should have noticed at around that time.

Many of the older male actors invited Tomoki to a meal with an older brother act, and called him out saying they would teach him some nice places.

Most of the female models would do casual talk about fashion, hobbies, and those kind of things while actively closing distance. On top of that, they would invite him to lunch and would try to seduce him.

That’s not because they didn’t see him as an enemy.

In the few times Tomoki had been working together with them, in the few conversations they have had, he had defeated them.

Violent levels of dazzling talent.

Just like how Tomoki and his father feel, it isn’t easy to survive in the entertainment industry. That’s true.

But there are exceptions.

Within the many people that try to shine in that place with hard work, there are exceptions that emit overwhelming light in their natural state.

A young boy, that is only serving as a stand-in due to his father and is simply getting pocket money, who just has a bit of good looks, takes poses in photoshoots, and can’t freely change his expressions; he should need training and experience.

He is a beginner that is not affiliated to any company and doesn’t have a manager, so he shouldn’t be able to get special featured pages from several magazines and shouldn’t get several requests to appear in dramas.

He had sketched a jacket and said ‘it would be nice if there were something like this’, and if there hadn’t been a reporter who was shocked by this and had made it a real product, it wouldn’t have been a hit. Of course, there wouldn’t be a talk about helping him out in creating a new brand either.

Moreover, the talks about being featured in a newspaper, offers to appear in dramas, and the creation of a brand, the models around Tomoki had advised him and Tomoki himself rejected those offers.

Regarding the jacket, his name wasn’t published, but the results of it had properly been transmitted to the people involved.

Work offers were coming to him one after the other.

Seeing a middle school student managing to do so many unreasonable things one after the other with close to no effort, many of the people in that entertainment industry had given up.

It is not that he wasn’t being acknowledged by the others, they had surrendered.

(As I thought…being a model was a bad idea. It made me strangely famous, pushing me into the go-home club, and making me have few friends… But I refused all confessions. I didn’t take the girlfriends of no one. And yet, why was I still hated…) (Tomoki)

It wasn’t just within the school, Tomoki’s existence was known in the neighborhood. If one were to observe the path to school of Tomoki, you would easily be able to see many girls from neighboring schools in their different uniforms.

The number of confessions were quite a lot, but he rejected them all.

He was slightly interested in going out with a girl, but his fear still won over his curiosity, and for Tomoki, his time with manga, games, and his few friends was more important.

(‘I won’t go out with anyone’, is the kind of intention I tried to show though. Haha… and it was as if I had lost everything because of it. Even though Ryuji was…for me, the first true friend I got.) (Tomoki)

He had a lot of things, but he was unenergetic and negative to everything.

Even so, the amount of times the ‘results’ of Tomoki were transmitted from the net, SNS, magazines, and the talk of girls began to change the view the others had of him into jealousy and anger.

He was bullied by the male students within the school, but within the male students, there was actually one close friend of Tomoki in his same grade that still continued to stay amicable with him.

You could say he was the only one Tomoki could call a friend since the moment the bullying had begun to surface and turned into ignoring.

Tomoki was deeply moved, thinking that he might have, for the first time, met a friend that he could speak his heart out with.

If it was with him, he could speak as much as he wanted to the point of forgetting the passage of time.

For the first time in his life, he had been invited to stay in the house of someone.

Ryuji works a sweat in a sports club, and at a glance, they appear as if they were polar opposites, and yet, Tomoki had fun being with him.

The physical education classes that, in the past, he would almost always be absent of, after meeting Ryuji, he had been influenced enough that he would now take part in about half of the time.

The face of that person surfaced in the memory of Tomoki.

At the same time, his chest began to hurt.

Since the day that friend of his, Ryuji, had averted his gaze and ignored him, Tomoki began to fear going to school.

Tomoki knew that Ryuji had an unrequited love towards a childhood friend of his that has been with him since elementary school.

Tomoki knows how she looks as well.

He has spoken to her a number of times when she was together with Ryuji.

That’s why…when Tomoki received a confession of her…Tomoki tried to piece vague words that would not hurt her, and ended up unconsciously saying this instead:

“Sorry. Just you alone, I will never be able to accept.” (Tomoki)

In the priority list of Tomoki, Ryuji was number one.

The result and the words…soon made her go running to Ryuji in tears to spit out her anger.

On top of that, because Ryuji concentrated in his club activities, he didn’t have good grades.

And, Tomoki, who found the times together with Ryuji as the most fun, didn’t have anything to do anymore. He began to neglect the studies that he had done decently in the past. Thus, the times he had to take supplementary lessons together with Ryuji had increased.

It is not as if Tomoki had slacked because he wanted to take the supplementary lessons.

It is just that, the studying that he didn’t like in the first place, he began to feel even less worth in it, so he stopped doing it seriously, that’s all there was.

But the result was the same.

Tomoki hasn’t pitied Ryuji even once. If it is envy and respect, he has done so a number of times.

But at that time, Ryuji felt like…Tomoki was pitying him.

A crack had been driven in.

The connection between the two had been destroyed.

Even with that, if they brought out the courage, it might have been possible to fix that relationship with time.

That’s right. If only Tomoki hadn’t thrown everything away and passed pointless time…and if he hadn’t been found by the Goddess.

“Ara, what splendid talent. Nice. A natural born fashion sense, right? Sensitive to fashion. The fashion that he likes could turn into a trend. Also…ufufufufu. This boy might be able to bring a new sense of beauty to my world. Even if that’s not the case, there’s no doubt that he will serve as a good stimulus to it.”

She had fallen in love with the talent of Tomoki.

She immediately gathered the information regarding the background that surrounds him.

He is convenient.

That’s all the impression the Goddess had of him.

A perfect candidate to be her hero was right before her eyes.

“Something like the demon race, with one more human and my assistance, we will be able to crush them really quick. Rather than stressing about the battle, a hero that has overflowing talent fitting for what comes after would be better. Right, if I were to give him the [Charm Demonic Eyes], I wonder if he would wag his tail to me.” (Bug)

In the endings of many mythologies, there’s an incredibly low amount where that kind of power would lead the user to a happy ending.

But there was no hesitation from the Goddess.

It is a profitable ability. It would be a great charity to him if she were to give it to him.

What’s next would be whether the person using it is worthy of the power, or can become an existence worthy of that power.

That’s not something the God should think about. It is the so called ‘trial’ that Gods give to people.

Anyways, within the negotiation between the Goddess and Tomoki, she managed to bring out the answer she wanted from him, and ended the talk.

That’s all.

“Oh well, nothing matters anymore. I have become a hero. This time for sure, I will do things properly. With my power, this time for sure, everything…!” (Tomoki)

With a teary face that one couldn’t describe as cheerful at all, Tomoki, who had become the Empire’s hero, forced out a smile and said this.

A single boy that suddenly disappeared without a single trace.

A lot of speculations flew around, and there were many who agreed in helping in the search.

But the situation didn’t change one bit.

It was suspected that there might be a connection between his disappearance and the one of a highschool girl that disappeared around the same time.

Iwahashi Tomoki had disappeared.

His father found doodles in Tomoki’s room and hurriedly relied on his connections. And with that, the drawings turned into products with the brand of TOMO and became a big hit.

His parents decorated the inside of the house with those clothes as if they were mementos of Tomoki.

But he didn’t return to the Iwahashi household.

The needles of the clock were still unmoving.

Simply left behind.

  1. Man, this story explained how Tomoki is a tragic person whose denseness and talent for being misunderstood affected him negatively
And that Bug expedited the process of him turning for the worse
In other words, an incredibly lucky-unlucky person

  2. It’s hilarious how much everybody is still wholly “Nope. F*ck Trashmoki. No sympathy, no redemption for you” throughout the comments in this chapter.
I felt like I was reading a tragedy this chapter. Tomoki is one of the biggest victims of “What-ifs” that I’ve ever seen. It’s like his entire time on Earth forced him towards the worst timeline for himself.
“What if he wasn’t born so attractive?”
“What if he didn’t have a talent for fashion?”
“What if he was able to actually communicate with people without misunderstanding every little thing?”
Heck, “What if he wasn’t sent to Gritonia’s Insane Princess?” and “What if he was given something besides Charm Eyes?”

Don’t get me wrong, he was still a dumb little shit on Earth and utter scum in Bugworld. But am I the only one who saw strong parallels and contrasts with Makoto in this backstory?

Makoto was also stupidly talented while being disgustingly oblivious to the fact because he had humility driven into his head.
He’s also terrible at having a conversation on the same wavelength as other people, even back on Earth; he even ended up breaking two hearts because he was more interested in the status quo. I can’t remember exactly, but if the reason his club members liked him was his dedication to archery, then it’s not all that different from Tomoki’s “maturity” appeal either.

And above all, don’t forget that Makoto is biologically Hyuman. Unless there’s some outside force that intentionally caused it to happen, all it would’ve taken was a quirk of genetics for him to be born every bit as beautiful as Tomoki. In a sense, his plain appearance ended up being quite the boon in his life.

That’s all I thought of during the chapter, but isn’t that plenty for them to even be foils of sorts?

    1. No one’s denying the “What-ifs”. But in the end, he didn’t become those what ifs. Right now, he’s the scum that he’s become exactly because of his personality.
He ignored his dad’s advice that the most important thing was studying. Even though his father didn’t discourage his modeling career, he definitely put more emphasis on schooling. And what did Tomoki do? He kept modeling for “pocket money” when he could have done literally anything else for that… He took the easy way.
In any case, I don’t think that Tomoki has that “maturity” appeal. He can certainly support himself if he relied on his “TALENT” for fashion, but doesn’t actually have much interest. But most of the girls liked him because he was famous and “beautiful.” Face it, plenty of women like pretty boys.
In contrast, Makoto works hard at something which he had no talent in, but loved. He grasped it with hard work and made it his. He doesn’t actually have the looks that Tomoki was blessed with. That blessing was taken from him even if, as you say, it was an outside force or genetic mutation, which makes that argument moot. In any case, it wouldn’t have changed his position except that he wouldn’t be famous for being the “Average Looking Man in the Beauty Archery Club” but rather “Another Stud in the Beauty Archery Club”

      1. I think one of us has the wrong impression of how Tomoki’s life went pre-Trash Era.

As I understand it, Tomoki was called in by his parent to model as a favor, and he couldn’t really say no. The pocket money was his motivation, but not really a goal (and from a middle schooler perspective, isn’t that a good enough reason anyway?). He seems to somewhat regret debuting at all, but would still have been unable to say no.
You can say that’s taking the easy way, but rather…why would anyone intentionally choose a harder route for no reason?

Next, I think the point about his studies is ordered like this: dad gets him to debut in middle school > tries to keep him from getting cocky and encourages studying > he gets into high school > dad suddenly switches to pushing him towards pro modeling, which falls on deaf ears because of what a major contradiction it is > Ryuji drama > Tomoki’s grades slip.
So as I understand it, Tomoki didn’t ignore his father’s advice until he seemingly stopped making sense-and in fact got into modeling in the first place for the opposite reason.

Lastly, the maturity appeal and “kindness to women”. I admit, my first reaction hearing about this and him being a good listener was:
        “…Really? OUR Trashmoki was? Bullshit.”
It’s virtually the exact opposite with Trashmoki now. But what can I say when it’s stated by the narrator? Tomoki’s perspective means less than nothing to me. But the third person omniscient narration is the one giving us this information, so…

With Makoto, I think his plain appearance affected decently on Earth, though I couldn’t even begin to speculate the larger scale effects. It definitely caused a bit of self-esteem problems with a gorgeous family around him growing up, not to mention it deprived him of experiences I feel like it would either distract him from his hobbies or otherwise made him a little more similar to Tomoki growing up. This isn’t a big deal. I just felt like pointing it out since I was comparing the scum with the psychopath.

    2. Thinking about it there are indeed some parallels with Makoto and Tomoki as there are with Makoto and Hibiki, heck the last extra showed us that problaly they were deepely connected with out realizing like having the same Master Swordman and things like that. And there are really a lot of what if, but Tomoki ajor failing was that he never looked at the reality surronding him and only took it the way he consider it. i mean I know there where a lot pf facts that contributed to that mainly his father innability to actually connect with him. But what he did on earth is the same he is doing on the Otherworld. He looks at the reality the way he intrepretes it, the way he sees it fit, he can’t admit something he doesn’t acknowledge even when is trust rigth into his face. Thats why he missed so manny hints to try and find a happiness or at least comfort and value in himself on earth.

      1. The thing is, that’s a weakness that most human beings have, sadly. How is anyone supposed to realize the world they see and live in isn’t the whole? Change and confrontation is uncomfortable, so of course you’d avoid it if you think it’s pointless.

It’s really hard, if impossible, to be perfectly and objectively self-aware. And if the opinion others are trying to impress on you is a complete contradiction of what you believe, I feel only someone with crippling self-esteem issues would be able to accept it without acceptavle proof.

In Tomoki’s case, these fairly human problems are made worse by the fact that he’s kind of an extreme dumbass and is in this bizarre situation where everyone unanimously acknowledges his talent.

Your point about his father not connecting with him hits close to what I believe is thr crux of the matter though. In situations like these, you need other people to expand your horizons for you.
And from the look of it, Tomoki had absolutely nobody he could have honest talks with (barring Ryuji, who I think needs his own discussion) and the boy himself made no effort to connect to other people.

In short, yeah, this is all ultimately that trash hero’s own fault, but in a slightly understandable way (as in how a moth to a flame is its own fault).

        1. I agree with you there, no one willingly try to look beyond themselves in life even while doing so could help them improve. I am just saying that the problem with Tomoki now is the same problem with the Tomoki on Earth. He believe so firmly that his interpretation is true that he doesn’t even try to look at it objectidely. Makoto migth have had that problem but at least he is trying to change it, and Hibiki is way to smart not to consider the posibility alas Tomoki as you said is to mutch of an idiot to actually grown up. After all thats the crux with him he hasn’t matured at all in life. The thing with the friend obviously deserve more talk really but they both didn’t have the time to mend their mistakes, even the friend if he thinked a little bit beyond his hormones at least would have gotten mad at him for the proper reason instead of the dumb one he decided to show.

          1. Actually, Makoto’s followers may be a major part of why that is. A big thing about the main trio is that they’re responsible for expanding Makoto’s horizons and allowing him to safely grow himself.

And Hibiki is just smart enough to not be an idiot. Well, she still has her own perspective problems, but it’s not as outrageous.

  3. Tomoki may be trash but one is never born this way. Power corrupts but so does the malice. It is sad what happened to him but I don’t pity him and whatever he gets, he pretty much deserves. I wonder what would happen if he didn’t have his charming eye and/or his place of summon was swapped with Hibiki’s or even Makoto’s.

    1. Ooo…Now that’s an interesting thought. Let’s take a look. Tomoki is still Trashmoki, but I think his Demonic Eyes’ and Princess Lily’s influence played pretty big roles in his degradation.
If we remove both…I feel like we would mostly just get Tomoki the loser hero who can’t do anything. The cheat that’d replace his Charm eyes would be a big deciding factor, but I assume he’d be meeker no matter what.

Now if we sub Hibiki into his situation, I my read on it is that Princess Lily would have a harder time getting into her head and Hibiki wouldn’t have been corrupted by the Demon Eyes’ power as badly(and if she keeps her charisma power, that’d be harder to make countermeasures against), based on the Makotwo dream. She’d still be a more…trashy person than even our Hibiki, but I think Trashbiki would certainly be a marked improvement from our Trashmoki.

As for Makoto…well, he was apparently in love with Princess Lily in that timeline, which may or may not have been mutual. And from how (I think) Root described it, a good influence on her instead of the complete reverse. And call me crazy, but I somehow don’t think Makoto is the type to get overwhelmed by irresistible god-like power of any kind. I definitely have no idea where this hunch is coming from at all, but I feel like he might even ignore that power of his for several tens of chapters.

…So yeah. These all kinda sound like better timelines than what we have, save for Makoto potentially never meeting his followers, which would be pretty bad.

      1. Yeah, it was just a “what if” scenario. I also think Tomoki’s personality is an issue. If only he had one person that could serve as a moral compass – someone who could keep him on the path (even before coming to this world).

I wonder if Lily would need to get into Hibiki’s head though. She is a pretty self-righteous person and she accepted her role as a hero that needs to fight demons. She has a moral compass but if she were convinced that end justifies the means or to do something despicable for the greater good, she might go along with it.

Yeah, all those alternate timelines were just depressing. I agree that Makoto wouldn’t get overwhelmed by the power. He is just a guy who wanted to shoot the bow. To him, power is more of a means rather than a goal and he would be more inclined to use it for others rather than himself.

What if Hibiki and Tomoki (or even all three of them) were summoned together in one kingdom or a wasteland? I think the Goddesse’s influence played a big role in their development. What would happen if they were summoned without any explanation and left to make their own conclusions about the whole war and everything?

  4. Thanks 4 the chapter!

I think what people can’t accept the most about him on Earth was that he didn’t do much with the talent he has.

    1. Which is kinda weird if you think about it. Isn’t that exactly what Makoto did?

In fact, Makoto didn’t do anything with his talent so hard, he somehow got another talent.

      1. People see Makoto working hard. They didn’t even know he have talent. While they only see Trashmoki having things landing on his laps without much effort, be it work or girls. We know which one is viewed in a more more positive light. Then there’s Trashmoki’s actions that can be perceived as looking down on people.

  5. So i kind ofmfelt bad for trashmoki. He is a very special needs childmthat got kidnapped by the buggess just cyz she is a cunt! He coukd have been a normal imbecile with mobey on earth. NBut no he decided to go full on retard and go to anither world just to piss of a guy that can kill a god.

  6. Thank you for the update. Tomoki was a very mature child. Then he was sent to another world and turned into an immature spoiled brat!

    1. He was not mature, he merely seemed mature in the eyes of primary and middle schooler girls. It was apathy, he did not understand the feelings of the girls as they approached him. he was curious and afraid so he did nothing and that made him seem calm.

  7. First off, Trashmoki had everything and that makes me hate him…
Second, the Bug is an even bigger ass-hat than I initially thought… She doesn’t even know how backwards-thinking she is…
Third, someone please put the both of them down… Not necessarily a painless euthanisation.

Seriously Trashmoki is pretty much exactly like Whatshername-senpai. Talented and unable to see things from a normal person’s perspective. If he’d actually chosen someone he liked in the first place, he wouldn’t have had to deal with the confession of the girl his friend liked and the fallout after.
And does he seriously think he treats women kindly? I mean, look at what happens to that woman, Haruka(?).

    1. In his defense, I think he’s too socially isolated (and dimwitted) to expect things to go so smoothly.
And it doesn’t seem like he liked any of the girls he encountered anyway-rather, it was a source of stress so he had no reason to want to aggravate(in his mind) it further.

Of course, that doesn’t make the way he phrased that particular rejection any less ridiculous. How the heck do you get “you’re the only one I won’t ever date” out of trying to form words that won’t hurt someone?!

As for the matter of kindness…I mean…Maybe Tomoki was kind. It’s not like he’s the one calling himself kind, it’s the narrator saying that he treated women nicely as a result of growing up surrounded by them.

As for the present time…his treatment of Haruka is certainly reprehensible, but I’m not sure Trashmoki even realizes she exists, since the influence was spread via perfume. If so, then he’s certainly changed greatly ever since he transferred to Bugworld.

Actually, I wonder what Trashmoki’s past self would think and say to his current one that’s drunk on power and ego?

  8. Thanks for the chapter Reigo, great work as always. Well I haven’t changed my stand on Tomoki so far but this chapter helped understand him a little more, I somehow blame the father lack if family bound with him, not going to judge but using his droodles to create a brand feels like an empty gesture, I know it migth be the way they coop with it, but it can also been seen as he using his son missfortune to create gain for himself.

    1. To be honest, I found myself getting pretty angry at dad’s parenting style for some reason. What he did was effectively sending such mixed signals that he caused his son to stop listening to him at all, and that’s pretty much a failure as I see it.

It seems that Tomoki has this weird problem of not connecting with anyone before and after Ryuji, and they should’ve done something about that. Heck, they should’ve done something at the point where girls swarmed around him for his looks.

  9. Uwa, i guess that’s a mix of bad parenting and not being aware of yourself….

Well, thanks for the chapter translator-san m(_ _)m

    1. The appearance of such a big Bug is real cause for disgust, but then you read what it says about the Charm Eyes, basically a Midas’ Touch, it seems like he failed the test in a very spectacular way.

  10. Ummmmmm. Thank for the chapter? ^^;

    Trashmoki… I’m surprised that I hate him this much =_=;

I try to read it but end up skipping most of this chapter…well, I will wait till my thirst for Tsuki win again my hate XD

  11. Thx for the chapter Reigo-san 😊

A trashmoki chapter, kind of pitiful person? Well if the story is still the same as wn he will still turn to a trash.

  12. No amount of pitiful backstory is gonna make me sympathize with trashmoki. Even less so with bug. I hate her even more now. And i feel as if all the girls around tomoki were horny sluts the moment they were around him for no good reason. Damn the aftertaste of reading this chapter is making me bitter and punch smth.

    1. Nah, the girls wanted him because from the outside he seems mature, he knows how to listen, and already technically has a steady job in middle school. It was the guys that only looked at his appearance.

      1. If u aren’t keen on defending trashmoki then u would have read the part where it said this-
even before entering middle-school, at elementary school and kindergarten, girls would swarm him as well.

In regards to that, it wasn’t all rose and flowers.

Because there were many cases when he would be shown way too excessive goodwill including skinship, he had been cornered to the point where he was close to having gynophobia.

    2. Nope, they seem like ordinary girls. I mean what would you choose the rich and delicate beauty or the brat that throws caterpillars at you. they were from primary school until high school in Japan. The Chuuni, otaku, brat or guy with a job. He seemed mature from a child’s point of view.
So it is not the girl’s fault. Besides he looked more female than male so to the “little girls” he was the perfect shoujo prince.
All he had to do is tell them something and ask for some space.
No one would ever defend trashmoki. But you can not just blame the loli’s, all loli who liked trashmoki are victims.

  13. Thanks for the chapter, or not. This was a waste of your talent, Reigo. Was this chapter supposed to make us sympathize with that asshat?

    1. Nah, I decided on looking at it objectively exactly because it was trashmoki.

He was indeed talented, he was given everything, and yet, kept losing in life. Even so, instead of pity, I felt that he was an idiot.

He was blessed with talent and everything was handed down to him on a silver plater. Yet, he was so retarded he couldn’t see any of those opportunities and only looked down on himself.

If anything was pitiful, it was definitely Tomoki. The only reason it felt as if it wanted to bring out sympathy with us was because that’s how Tomoki wanted to paint it as.

He had the whole deck of cards in his hand, but he not only didn’t play any, he didn’t even notice he had any cards.

        1. Not in every sense, maybe now he is considerably different, but not before. Makoto took a good time to understand that he was strong and even now he still doesn’t see his own existence as special because of his incredible humbleness and his sense of inferiority that is stuck in his own core. Prior to change worlds he couldn’t understand properly even his own talent with the bow, he thought anyone could do that with a bit of effort since his untalented self got there with a lot of effort. Even now Makoto don’t understand his own position in the world and which cards he could/should be playing. At least he noticed that he has cards.

      1. Similar to Hibiki, but she at least put some thought into her reputation and future. Tomoki breezed through life, wondering why he was blessed with such talent, when all it brought was pain, and a little bit of spending money.

      2. Ah, I see. I bow to your wisdom in this matter, and offer disinfectants just to be sure you don’t catch anything bad from this one 😁

      3. Now that you mention it, Tomoki on Earth does kinda remind me of myself when my dumb ass forgets an important, or at least very convenient, game mechanic exists. Like when I didn’t realize I could save my game once, or I forgot that I could stun the brute enemies in another.

        Oh!
This glorious moment of stupidity isn’t one I can take credit for, but I once saw a guy play Dark Souls all the way past Orstein and Smough before he realized recovering lost souls was a thing.

      4. Makoto noticed his talent early one but he threw it away because he did not like it. Rather Makoto can be seen as very talented as well if he had not born weak because of his Hyuman genes. Makoto could see his deck and could even throw away half his deck and redraw til he had a new talent. It took a lot of effort but he succeeded as expected of the guy with unconventional luck(BAD).

    1. Pity for what? He had everything rich parents, easy job, talent, girls. and even if he wanted friends all he had to do was approach them and say that their friendship was more important than any girl.

  14. sorry Reigokai ,i only read half of the whole chapter .

Just his very existence is annoying , why he act like the heroine …..if someone is bullying you ,you only need strenge …..but not is better just cry like bitch

    Anyway thanks

      1. He was acting ambiguous with every female around him(being kind). The reason none of the girls could resist the beautiful and rich talented guy was that he showed interest in them while most guys that age would trow caterpillars to the girls they like. He was weak delicate and beautiful it was obvious he could not get along with normal guys when he himself is acting like a half female princess.
And he was not really bullied but rather ignored. can’t really use strength to simply fix that.

        1. Uhhh, are you trying to say he wasn’t bullied, because they didn’t bully him in preschool? In preschool he was just the prettiest girl, which could lead to getting shunned by the girls with the bigger egos, but he was definitely bullied by both genders when he got older, for being a model and for having so many girls as friends. Then there’s the infighting among girls, that leads to him getting trouble, for associating with girls that are at odds with each other…. Anyway, he was being a moron, which led to him getting bullied, so he acted even stupider to cope, which would have eventually gotten him stabbed by a yandere.

    1. Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember watching a cartoon short as a kid that tried to do exactly that.
I think it was golden gift-wrapping paper or something? Hmm.

…Whatever it was, it was a lot cuter and more effective than Trashmoki. I made a point to try to open wrapped presents methodically since then.

  15. When i saw the name trashmoki, i already guessed whos story is this so i just skimmed at the story cause my eyes might rot

  16. Thank━━━━s

Whatever his past is, a trash will still be a trash. U look at our own trash. Our food, our milk carton, our gift wrapper, our styrofoam, our plastic bags… etc…. even if it was useful before it became a trash, in the end it will be still a trash and it wont change.

(Random reader: but there’s s thing called recycl-)

ZIpped it! A trash is a trash, a trashmoki can’t be recycl- *remembers that the punching bag got damage* I stand corrected, trashmoki can be recycled into my punchingbag anytime!

    1. Trash needs to be burnt into ashes, even shit is still useful for certain reasons. Well, trashmoki can be recycled into toilet paper to wipe people’s ass.

      1. There’s also a chance that your butt will no longer wants to use any other kind of paper to wipe it because of Toiletmoki’s charm, and you are forever stuck with that one filthy Toiletmoki paper to wipe your bum. There are better hell than that.

    2. Hey, no matter what sort of dump you got it from, I’d be willing to burn a Trashmoki to power my DeLorean.

Of course, I’m the type who wouldn’t be too bothered with powering his fridge with the souls of the damned, so maybe I’m not the one who should be asked…

  17. Thanks for the extra chapter, Reigo-senpai.

Okay… even this can’t make me feel bad for Trashmoki. Seriously, we all know what he’s become after becoming a “hero”. That my friends is what weighs down the scales. He deserves worse than death.

    1. Actually this chapter made me hate the goddess even more, not only it confirmed that she DID NOT think things through when she gave him charm eyes, but showed that if he had stayed on earth he could have actually not become a trash

      1. But he still will have the potential to become trash. Can’t suppress one’s inner self. If you wanna test a man, give him power.

        1. I’m pretty sure every human being has the potential to become trash. Tomoki was just extra compatible with corruption by power.
Rather, enough absolute power can probably corrupt anyone.

      2. I would legit be interested in an alternate timeline in which Tomoki refused Bug and stayed on Earth to try to make amends with Ryuji.
This chapter portrayed a dumbass, but dumb in a way you could expect from a high school drama.

…I wonder what Trashmoki would say to Ryuji if they met now? What would Ryuji say to Trashmoki, even?

    2. It’s possible to pity someone without forgiving, or even liking, them, isn’t it? I feel bad for Tomoki in the same I way I felt bad for the Cancer Cell in Cells at Work. Actually, almost exactly so.
“It’s not like he can help being a self-destructive, world-ruining little shit. …But we still gotta murder the heck out of him and his kind for the sake of the most basic societal function.”

Also, I find judging a person’s character earlier on a known timeline to be kinda…weird. Is it really okay to judge someone for something they haven’t done yet? Sure, it’s easy to say Trashmoki is a wretch that deserves no quarter, but what about Tomoki, this, admittedly, self-entitled and idiotic kid whose otherwise never tried to hurt or exploit anyone yet?
Consequences are supposed to come after the crime, right? Granted, there’s no way for any other outcome in the narrative unless we somehow introduce an alternate timeline where Tomoki was sent to Limia instead and became bros with Makoto beyond all reason, so it’s almost like it’s Tomoki’s fate to be trash.

I’m sorta reminded of the “would you kill baby Hitler” question. Are we looking at this morally, or from a utilitarian perspective? Let’s say Hibiki finds a way to come back to Earth just before Tomoki is taken, and she’s given the opportunity to straight up assassinate him long before he becomes a problem. (which, if we’re honest, I’m pretty sure she’d take). Would…would we have a problem with that? Or should we?

      1. “Rather, enough absolute power can probably corrupt anyone.”
I do not believe power can corrupt anything, power is like water. You either have enough to live or not. if you have any more you can choose to keep it use it for another or against another. Water does not change you nor does power. It only gives you a choice to do right or to do wrong, to save, to not save or to kill.
108 desires, material, spiritual. Tomoki went for material desires mainly lust and greed(sin). Hibiki represents spiritual desire. feeling good helping others and being thanked for it.
Kamoto seems more like a god than other gods in the story, The Cristian one who watches over and does nothing feels nothing and only comes down to earth to flood the world and erase all life of it.

        1. Uh…I’m a bit confused about some of the things you wrote, but let’s talk about the others.

Power is like water? To me, it’s more like fire in a forge/furnace. You can use it to accomplish all sorts of things from convenience to growth to violence. Fire in higher purities allows you to do more but gets harder and harder to handle, but Water in excessively high amounts straight up kills you.
Power doesn’t just give you a choice, it gives you freedom. In moderation, freedom becomes independence and development. But in excess, it robs other people of their freedom and frees you from even consequence. At that point, it becomes the Ring of Gyges, where not having consequences (i.e. power) will end up corrupting most anyone, given enough time.

  18. A Tomoki chapter? Hmm. Going by the chronology, this would be while he’s settling into Gritonia (and its princess’s control) or back on earth.
In other words, when all the scumminess was still innate talent and yet to be unlocked. This could be interesting.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  19. Since the author delved into the backstory of Tomoki, I decided on delving in the story before he was born.

—Once upon a time, when pre-Tomoki was about to be born, he was given the choice of increasing his stats.

    Strength, intelligence, dexterity, talent, etc.

Tomoki didn’t know what talent meant, and at that moment, a voice told him: ‘It is the ability to do everything with reduced effort’.

Hearing this, an idea came into the mind of Tomoki.

“If I were to put all my points to talent, I wouldn’t need to put any effort!”

And so, he did exactly that.

…But he felt like that wasn’t enough.

“Oh right! Since I won’t need to put effort, I should just take out the points of the other stats.”

Proclaiming this, Tomoki proceeded to decrease his default stat points in the other stats and poured them all into talent.

After the deed, Tomoki began to ponder with his non-existent intelligence.
    “What’s intelligence anyways?”

And so, he began to reduce the intelligence stat into the negatives and poured it all into ‘talent’.

    Thus, Tomoki was born.

    1. I’m sure it’ll be fine. Having the talent for it all is the same as being skillful, except without the hard work right?

Int. is a dump stat as long as you’re not a mage anyway.
