Chapter 217: A clandestine meeting with just the two

Below the starry sky that had the strong presence of the moon and the stars, Zef and I had met alone.

ā€˜Letā€™s meet with just the two of usā€™, was the proposition of Zef.

Thinking about the contents of what I wanted to ask this time, I felt like there was no problem, so I accepted the proposal.

ā€œHow many years has it been since this one has been alone with an outsider -no, how many decades has it been? It feels like this one has returned to my long past self, how nostalgic, and also fresh. What a mysterious feeling.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œI would have been fine with going to the capital though.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œSorry about that. When inviting someone to our place, thereā€™s a lot of matters involved. Raidou-dono is an important guest of ours, and you are also a benefactor of ours. Thereā€™s no way we wouldnā€™t meet you. It took us to our limit just rearranging so this one could meet you as soon as possible.ā€ (Zef)

Zef laughs with his usual smile that I canā€™t see through.

But his atmosphere is slightly different from when I met him because of the matters of the demon race.

We are outside after all.

ā€œ…And so, you had something to ask of this one, right? What do you want to hear? The secret weapon of the demon race? Or maybe, the time of our next invasion? Is it an objective like that?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œI have no interest in things like that. Please donā€™t make fun of me.ā€ (Makoto)

Seriously.

In the first place, thereā€™s no way thereā€™s a person who would ask the Demon Lord himself about that.

Saying such a joke with a face as obvious as that, seriously, what a troublesome person.

ā€œHahaha! No interest huh. If you were to obtain a bit of information, you would be able to use it for trades you know, being a merchant and all. There should be a good amount of people that would believe it if it were to come out from the mouth of Raidou-dono, right? It is not like the hyumans are filled with only idiots after all.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œPlease spare me already. I am not going to undertake complicated business like selling information.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œSo you wonā€™t ride on it huh. What a shame. This one was going to mix truth and lies to throw them off though.ā€ (Zef)

Zef laughs with a ā€˜Kukukuā€™.

Please donā€™t use me to sell your poisonous applesā€¦

ā€œIf I were to do that, I would totally turn into the enemy of hyumans. It is not like I am in the side of the hyumans, but I am not in the side of the demon race either. Neither me nor the Kuzunoha Company.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThis one knows. This one was just trying to see if you would yield a bit to our side, thatā€™s all. Forgive me. By the way Raidou-dono, howā€™s Sari?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œFuh~, Sari huh. Well, it seems like she is getting somewhat used to it now.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œHoh, so you are already in a relationship where you call her without honorifics. This oneā€™s relieved… Have you done it?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œWhat do you mean by ā€˜doneā€™?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œUmu, is she pregnant already?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œBuh!ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œWhatā€™s wrong?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œWhat are you saying? You are the father of Sari, right?!ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œYeah, and Raidou-dono is the master of Sari. This one thinks it is a natural question.ā€ (Zef)

The face of Zef was frankly saying ā€˜what are you getting all flustered about?ā€™.

Why is it that when it comes to slaves, thereā€™s so many people that think in that way?

Thereā€™s also slaves that simply work.

ā€œShe is not pregnant. Thereā€™s no reason for her to be in the first place.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThis one didnā€™t think she was a girl that would be against it just because it is her first time though.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œIā€™m saying this just in case but, I havenā€™t sought for her.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œWhat? Raidou-dono, as a young man, holding back your sexual desires wonā€™t bring anything good, you know?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œThatā€™s truly not your business.ā€ (Makoto)

Why does the Demon Lord have to worry about that?

Moreover, the person he is telling me to put my hands on is his very daughter.

What a troublesome king.

ā€œEven though this one was secretly expecting a grandchild around summer. Wouldnā€™t it just end up as this one jumping to conclusions?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œThatā€™s the case.ā€ (Makoto)

Zef looks as if he is really disappointed about it.

If he is just acting, then that sad sigh is in an incredible level.

ā€œAnyways, Sari is doing fine.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œUnderstood. Thenā€¦ā€ (Zef)

ā€œI have not placed a single hand on her, and I havenā€™t kissed her either!ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œNo, I was just going to ask you what business you had today. Also, if she presses you, at least grant her a kiss.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œ…Ah, geez.ā€ (Makoto)

Why is it that I feel his face on the latter half had become even more serious.

ā€œYou went through the trouble of making an appointment with a Lord, so a part of me is looking forward to what kind of conversation you had in mind.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œWell then, thereā€™s two things I want to ask you. The first is related to Kaleneon, and the other, how to say it…letā€™s just say it is related to the demon race.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œIt seems like it would be best to begin with the talk about Kaleneon.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œRight now, the town creation is progressing in the aforementioned land.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œUmu.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œBut the current state is that the people are not used to the climate and it is not progressing as expected. And so, I have come to ask of a demon that has survived through the harsh cold about the management of the land, development of it, and about the maintenance.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œI see. But, Kaleneon huh. It is a land that has half-baked cold and snow if I remember correctly. I donā€™t think it would serve as much of a reference you know.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œBut even in an ice field like this, the demon race was able to build a metropolis like that. Wonā€™t you guys have some sort of knowledge about it? I am fine with only a bit, can you tell me about a solution?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œFufufu. Raidou-dono, even if we were to tell you the method itself and learn of the result it has brought, it doesnā€™t mean that you would be able to apply it in a sufficient manner. If you donā€™t know of its roots as well, you will end up in a dead end.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œI seeā€¦ā€ (Makoto)

I want to do something about the strong blizzards that will be coming in the near future, so even if we canā€™t put it to practical use, it is fine for now.

ā€œFrom what I know, Kaleneon is in a region we donā€™t have much experience in managing either. If it were in a harsher environment, we would cover it with a dome-shaped barrier, and would live in a lifestyle centered on hunting. But just as I said, that place is half-baked. The difference between summer and winter is so extreme that it actually makes it hard for us to live in.ā€ (Zef)

It is certainly true that in Kaleneon, in the place where the town is located, the snow is gone by the time it is summer.

It is true that it is half-baked, but even so, as long as thereā€™s land where cultivation is possible, I feel like there would be significance for the demon race in having people live in it.

If it were Limia, there would be a lot of land to talk about; why is it that they are expressly staying in a harsh land?

Alsoā€¦

ā€œIn Kaleneon there was a fortress of the demon race and an army. Then wouldnā€™t you also know about the way they lived?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œIf itā€™s only on the level of gathering and hunting, yeah. If you are in need of that information, I will present it to you. But if you have taken a look around, I think you should already know; in Kaleneon, aside from the fortress, there were no proper towns, right? Also, in terms of inhabitants and common people, the numbers should have been quite low.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œYeah. I heard that there were mostly people related to the army. Also, there was nothing resembling a town, and what was given maintenance was mostly the main road.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThatā€™s right. This one felt like the Kaleneon fortress would one day be necessary as a relay location, so this one had people stationed there, but this one didnā€™t have any intentions of having a settlement in the impending future. It was mostly goods and troops using it as a teleportation spot to mobilize. It is sad that it canā€™t be used again though.ā€ (Zef)

Uh.

I am the one who seized the place, so I know that I am not in a standing where I can complain.

I feel like he had gotten me there.

…Just like how Zef said, the only place that seemed to be useable as a town in Kaleneon was the fortress.

There were a number of remains from villages and towns, but they were all from hyumans. They were destroyed pretty thoroughly, and it didnā€™t feel like it could be used in that state.

And the remains of the fortress are being used as the capital city of Kaleneon because of our own circumstances regarding the climate of Asora, so it is in the middle of being remade as a town.

The reason why the demon race was not treating Kaleneon as a country was probably because of what Zef said.

ā€œ…I see. So that place didnā€™t have enough appeal to go through the trouble of creating a dome barrier.ā€ (Makoto)

I have seen it in the demon race towns. Those things require quite the amount of magic power.

It is not realistic to do it in Kaleneon as well.

If I donā€™t find some sort of closing countermeasure for the people living in that town, thereā€™s no point.

ā€œSadly to say, thatā€™s exactly right. With its location and climate, we didnā€™t find the worth of fighting again to reclaim it. The snow is a troublesome thing you see. If ignored, it will bury the paths, and crush the houses. Even so, just going by the simple method of melting it with heat will instead freeze it and become a new hindrance. If we are to go through the trouble of doing such maintenance, thereā€™s the need of a merit thatā€™s equally worth its demerits.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œUnderstood.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThe decision this one arrived to was to leave a few facilities there and leave it is it is.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œI see. Just in case, can I receive the information about the gathering and hunting?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œOkay. It is already unneeded for us after all. Right, it would make this one happy if you were to put some flavor and hasten the time you commence the peddling in our towns.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œI will arrange for that.ā€ (Makoto)

I donā€™t think there will be a problem in hastening the process.

To begin with, I have already hastened the preparations, so thereā€™s no need for me to arrange anything anyways.

No, thatā€™s not it.

They are already in a haste, so I simply donā€™t need to worry about it.

ā€œThen letā€™s hear the other thing you had to talk about. It seems like thatā€™s your real motive after all.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œ…ā€

ā€œYou had the time for it. You should already have the contents of your topic arranged, right?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œ…Let me ask your Majesty. If the reason for the demon race to fight the hyumans disappears, will the demon race stop doing war?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œ…ā€

ā€œCan I have an answer?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œ…Of course, we would stop it. But Raidou-dono, that question is boundlessly pointless.ā€ (Zef)

Zef who had broken the silence, let out a voice that was low and heavy. Ā

He affirmed my question, but he also said it was pointless.

ā€œWhat do you mean?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œIt is certainly true that if the reason the demon race does war against the hyumans disappears, the war will be stopped. But for that reason to disappear, it would also mean that the battle between hyumans and demons has reached some sort of conclusion. Thatā€™s why this one said it is pointless.ā€ (Zef)

The reason disappearing…is equal to reaching a conclusion?

The demon race is oppressed by the Goddess and is being oppressed by the hyumans too, and because of that, they were driven to the poor lands of the north.

The rebellion that came from that should be because the demon race wanted to topple over the situation the Goddess had driven them into.

In that case, if the demon race obtains a wealthy land, the reason of the war should disappear.

Isnā€™t that right?

For example; a place in Kaleneon that has been improved, the demon race territory that is progressing with the domestic affairs, and also…maybe Asora.

It is not because I want to do this for the sake of the Goddess, but if those kind of things can stop the war, cooperating would be okay.

Honestly speaking, the current Hibiki is dangerous.

If the war continues, I think Senpai will probably lose her life at some point in time.

Then, I thought that it would be fine to give a part of Asora to the demon race.

Also, the moment the demon race enters Asora, they would have to agree and be involved with us no matter what.

Putting it badly, we can isolate them.

ā€œI heard that the demon race began the war because they sought for a wealthy land. A rebellion because of the position they were in. Then, couldnā€™t it be said that the demon race has obtained a land with plenty enough wealth? In the current state, I think you can have a truce with the hyumans. The demon race has been able to proceed the war in an advantageous position after all.ā€ (Makoto)

If needed, I can help in encouraging them to accept it.

The negotiation will be hard with the heroes of Limia and Gritonia fighting in the frontlines, but if itā€™s with the good-for-nothing country Aion that only has spies and Lorel Union which is an eccentric country that accepts Wise, I feel like the negotiations might be possible.

If thereā€™s a country that nods even if a bit, I think there can be ways to tackle the situation.

ā€œRegarding the land, it is just as Raidou-dono says. We were able to obtain a wealthy land. But…the Goddess and the hyumans still have power left. If we were to enter negotiations in the current state, it would be like asking them to gather up their strength and counterattack.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œEven so, the demon race has plenty enough power, right?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œIf you are saying that by looking at the current progress of the war, thatā€™s a big mistake, Raidou-dono. Listen well, even if you stand in an advantageous position in tactics and technique at the beginning, even if not all, a part of it will flow into the opponent as the battle progresses. Right now when they are obtaining proper divine protection from the Goddess, the hyumans who surpass us in numbers will absorb the advantage. Our positions would take a reversal.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œNo way.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThe power of a God and the overwhelming difference in numbers; those two are not components that are as light as Raidou-dono thinks. Our current situation can be said to be its summit. Restraining the power of the Goddess and seeing through them to a certain limit, we do war with the hyumans. Doing this in the same way as we have until now is justā€¦ā€ (Zef)

The latter half of his words were as if he were squeezing them out. Zefā€™s eyes were giving off a sad light.

ā€œYou are saying thatā€™s why you wonā€™t stop the war?ā€(Makoto)

ā€œWe thought about killing our hateful sibling while the parent wasnā€™t present, but in the end, we didnā€™t make it in time, and the parent came out.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œ…ā€

ā€œThatā€™s why we have no choice but to be cautious about the eyes of the parent as we have a moderated sibling fight. Now then, Raidou-dono, what do you think we should do in order to somehow kill that sibling?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œEhm…In the first place, should you kill each other in a sibling fight? I just canā€™t imagine it.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThatā€™s right. It is a sibling fight where the siblings hate each other to the point of killing. By the way, the parent is the ally of the other side.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œSorry, I canā€™t bring myself to imagine it.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œI see. Even if we were to kill the other side in an ingenious manner, thatā€™s a death that the parent didnā€™t wish for; and even if we both were to shake hands with fake smiles plastered on our faces, the hatred between those two siblings wonā€™t disappear. Well, in the end, no matter how many reasons we look for to do war, the main point would be that, is what this one thinks. And in reality, it has become a big reason of why us demon race continue to do war. The reason regarding the environment was simply the last push, but the thoughts in the depths of our hearts probably hasnā€™t changed at all since the beginning.ā€ (Zef)

The Goddess is the parent, and the hyumans and demons are the siblings.

ā€œHate huh. As I thought, the Goddess is the root of it all.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThatā€™s true, but no matter what the Goddess does this late in the game, the gap that has formed between the hyumans and the demons wonā€™t disappear. For the demons, and for the hyumans as well; and of course, this one who told Raidou-dono about the disadvantages of the truce, is the same as well. Because this one thinks that that gap can only be filled with the blood of our opponents.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œ…Are you saying you havenā€™t killed enough?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThatā€™s right. Of course, thereā€™s also the transition of the warā€™s state just like this one explained, but stating it in an extreme manner, thatā€™s simply a front. We have already pushed aside the restraints of our parent the Goddess and swung our fists, so until we have spat out all our hate and flooded the ground with the blood of the hyumans, the demon race wonā€™t stop.ā€ (Zef)

ā€¦

ā€œAs a ruler, the thought of Raidou-dono can be considered as one choice. Thereā€™s probably rulers who would choose it. If itā€™s a kind ruler, they would definitely. But thereā€™s also rulers that wonā€™t choose that…rulers who canā€™t choose to do that. Just like this one…this oneā€™s current self…if many of my people wish for it, this one wonā€™t stop the war.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œ…What do you think…I was thinking?ā€ (Makoto)

Even though it was calm, the light inside the eyes of Zef felt like they could see through me.

Thereā€™s no way he would be able to know.

Because no one knows about the existence of Asora.

ā€œRaidou-dono can prepare a new land for us demons, right? Maybe in the extremities of the wasteland, or it might be a place we donā€™t know of that is located somewhere at the other side of the north or west sea. This one doesnā€™t know that far, but you plan on having the demon race migrate from this continent, and you were wondering if it can end the war in this way, isnā€™t that what you were thinking?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œ…ā€

You gotta be kidding, right?

Even to the point of readying a land, how?

I did think he would be able to guess till the point of helping out in the negotiations of the truce, butā€¦

ā€œBullā€™s-eye huh. How scary. The Raidou-dono that said he didnā€™t have any interest in the war, seemed to have investigated about the reason of the war in detail after all, so this one just intended to probe a bit. Good grief, the eyes of Sari are impressive. A self-sufficient company huh. I see. If itā€™s only that, it canā€™t be called a country just yet, but…it can be said that it is already an organization that has surpassed the boundary of a company.ā€ (Zef)

A self-sufficient company?

No, right now the important point is why he canā€™t accept the migration.

ā€œ…Why…wouldnā€™t you choose that?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œJust as you said before, hate. Even if we were to receive that proposal, only a few would accept. Ah, thereā€™s no doubt that the bunch who were involved in that incident will be mixed in the group. If Raidou-dono wants to propose it no matter what, this one can notify the people. Having our people chipped off will result in a pretty big disadvantage in the war, but when this one thinks of turning Kuzunoha Company into our enemy, this is for the best.ā€ (Zef)

That incident…the one where Root did a mess?

In that case, he must be talking about the people that wholeheartedly believe in the Goddess even in that environment and situation.

Thatā€™s honestly rough.

Frankly speaking, I feel like their train of thoughts is different in a fundamental level.

ā€œThe believers of the Goddess, is it. How to say it, they are people with quite the assertion for peace huh. The type of people that think the opponent wonā€™t attack as long as they hold their hands up high in surrender. It was also strange that they were so zealously trying to make the demon race -they are a part of- into the bad guys.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œIf the hyumans were like that, it would be easier to win though. Even this one doesnā€™t understand how their brain works. Do they even know what would happen if we were to declare ourselves as slaves to the hyumans that have been treating the demi-humans as a lower class for thousands of years and consider it common sense?ā€ (Zef)

Ah, in that part, I am completely of the same opinion.

ā€œRight. Well, regarding the land, it is not all advantages, so if it handicaps the demon race because of it, please just forget about it. I didnā€™t have those intentions.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œHahaha, that scare about them being mixed in there was just a joke. Of course, there are people within the demon race that are purely against the war. It is true that they are low in numbers, but it is people that have been tired out by this air of war that has lasted for decades. People that have grown tired of fighting, people that have grown tired of losing any more, people that have grown tired of taking away lives…many types of people.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œI see.ā€ (Makoto)

Well, thereā€™s obviously people like that.

It is certainly true that being within a group where the majority agree to the war, it would just be suffocating for people like that.

ā€œNot believers of the Goddess, simply tired of the war and wishing for peace. This one doesnā€™t want to just cast them away. If it wonā€™t be a source of evil in the system of the demon race, this one doesnā€™t mind having them saved at this oneā€™s discretion. Currently, there are around 10 or so people that have a decent amount of authority, how about it?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œEven if you ask me thatā€¦what do you mean by having authority?ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œGiving the demon race land. In other words, Sari has been of decent help, so this time, you want to directly take in people to the company; thatā€™s the real motive of Raidou-dono, right? Something like that, even this one is able to guess it. Thereā€™s no need to hide it. This one is genuinely happy about having the abilities of my race approved. The part about authority, it refers to the people that this one has to deal with in a near future. Well, it simply means that if you are thinking about saving them, it is best to hurry.ā€ (Zef)

ā€¦

A few moments ago I thought he was incredibly keen, but now he has gone and done a wild pitch.

I am not really looking for the demon raceā€™s techniques and knowledge, you know?

I did understand the point about authority though.

ā€˜Their voices are big and conspicuous, so they have to be dealt withā€™, is probably what he meant. People that in the surface are obedient, but hold opposing feelings. If it is people that donā€™t have the ability to oppose the methods of the Demon Lord, thereā€™s no need to hurry and deal with them, is what I think he means.

ā€œNo. I wouldnā€™t mind having more hands to work with, but…I simply thought that if this was enough to end the war, it wouldnā€™t be so bad.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œ…Half of it was just a front, right?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œUhm, those were my whole real intentions.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œ…ā€

ā€œYour Majesty?ā€ (Makoto)

Zef turned silent.

ā€œ…You got me there. It seems like Raidou-dono has a thought pattern that this one canā€™t grasp. This one is ashamed. Placing everything under the basis of advantages and disadvantages as well as calculations, might be considered the influence of these times.ā€ (Zef)

It felt like he was having a monologue. He muttered in a weak and grazed voice.

ā€œAhahaha, I am often told that I do things in ways that lack common sense. Especially lately.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œThereā€™s no need to be ashamed of lacking common sense. We are basically fighting the hyumans because of that. But this one understands now. Then, if thatā€™s the case…wonā€™t you please take those guys in?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œThe 10 or so demons?ā€ (Makoto)

If itā€™s only around that much, I donā€™t really mind. Moreover, if they are not believers of the Goddess and are simply tired of war, I feel like it is okay.

ā€œUmu. From this oneā€™s point of view, it is like this one is having you take care of the trouble for me, so it hurts a bit to ask you of this though. If the precedent of Raidou-dono and Sari didnā€™t exist, it wouldnā€™t have been a choice to begin with after all. If thereā€™s work over there, you can have them work as colleagues of Sari, or if you want, you can have them in house arrest or confine them, this one doesnā€™t mind. If you wish to, this one can also limit it to only women.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œPlease stop taking all subjects to that tangent.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œSo as long as they can work, the gender doesnā€™t matter huh. This was a verbal slip then.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œRegarding that matter, I will go back and discuss about it. Just that…even if I am to accept them all, I will have them go through the same contract as Sari.ā€ (Makoto)

I obviously donā€™t think that because they are demons I can trust them.

ā€œThey are technically being exiled, so this one doesnā€™t mind. If they stay within the demons, their future would be even worse after all. But to go through that contract, we will require a part of Raidou-donoā€™s body. Is it okay if we are to receive cooperation in that?ā€ (Zef)

ā€œ…The master wonā€™t be me. If it is demons, I will have Sari take care of them, so it is fine if she is the master. Of course, it still hasnā€™t been decided yet.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œ…Raidou-dono, you are truly someone this one canā€™t grasp the depth of.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œReading too deeply into things, reading my mind, and while at it, using the Kuzunoha Company to deal with troublesome people; I think that the depth of your Majesty is the one that is hard to grasp. Seriously.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œ…In the first place, Raidou-dono and this one canā€™t be compared. My depth is limited after all.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œEh?ā€

ā€œNo, nothing. This one is expecting a good response. But to act as a Lord with someone that is leagues higher and whimsical, my nerves canā€™t take it, seriously.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œYour Majesty?ā€ (Makoto)

The only thing I could hear was ā€˜No, nothingā€™, but it seems like Zef found something funny and was laughing.

ā€œThen Raidou-dono, this one will be waiting for your call in a near future. It is okay to call whenever you feel like it.ā€ (Zef)

ā€œAh, yes. Thanks for going through the trouble of coming all the way here.ā€ (Makoto)

ā€œPlease give my regards to Sari.ā€ (Zef)

Zef was enveloped in a sphere he created with magic, and just like that, he floated up and flew away.

When I checked the surroundings, I could see that thereā€™s a large mamono in standby not too far from here, so he will probably be flying until that point.

From there, he will mount the mamono and move to where the teleport formation is, and in that way, he will return.

Even so, Asora wasnā€™t exposed, but the offer of land was exposed huh.

Are rulers the kind of people that can tell those kind of things?

I didnā€™t feel that way in Limia, so maybe it doesnā€™t apply to all.

I donā€™t know what it is, but I feel like Zef is different.

ā€œA war where they kill and are killed is not going to end that easily. Senpai said this as well, but Zef thinks in the same manner huh. If one were to endure or forget about it without killing, the chain of hatred would end. Migrating and ending the war in that way; a part of me probably wanted that to happen. Saying it with my own mouth right now makes it feel unrealistic. I am glad I didnā€™t tell Zef. I was about to amaze him by doing that.ā€ (Makoto)

In the time when I heard the talk of the Neptunes, even I thought that if we were to kill all the Neptunes that were on the brotherā€™s side, the hatred wouldnā€™t remain, and Serwhale-san wouldnā€™t have to worry about it in Asora. Thatā€™s how I thought.

To have an outsider telling him about a different way of calming down the hatred aside from killing, moreover, asking their very Lord to persuade them, that would be stupid.

ā€˜Here, take this new land, now letā€™s stop warā€™, thereā€™s no way it would go so smoothly.

As expected, it is not good to try thinking about stopping the war with such light thoughts.

For now, I will do our activities as the Kuzunoha Company, and drag down the Goddess at a point in time. It is fine to only think about that for now.

Even in my life as a merchant, I have now become able to safely participate in the meetings of the Guild in Tsige and Rotsgard.

Not only between customers, I have begun to understand the importance of having connections between merchants as well. Not by pushing them away when offered money, or when offered something and making implicit promises.

Lately, I have been learning how to deal with the nobles with this foreign country visits.

I am far away from being competent enough, but if I just continue working steadily, I can gather experience no matter the case.

My essentials are bad, and the wider I open my arms, the amount of choices I have to decide will increase in proportion, so I just canā€™t move forward the way I want.

Thatā€™s why it canā€™t be helped that I go by it slowly.

I will simply go forward in my own pace.

It may be this late in the game, but thatā€™s how I thought.

  1. I wonder how the problem of the war will be resolved, something like a complete annihilation of one side I think it’s not gonna happen but aside for that I’m not sure of the rest.

  2. I wonder if makoto sees one of his aid die in front of him because of the war, would he still want to stop the war? He is so naive, loved one were already killed and hatred is already born, he cant understand that cause he haven’t experience it…

    1. You forgot that he lost Tomoe first clone (child) to Hyumans, and one of the high orcs as well wich he cares about as part of his kin. Even so he hasn’t joined the Demon’s side of the war and is sending aid to both hyumans and demon’s. So he migth still hold some preconcepted ideas but he is doesn’t have his head on the clouds and out of reality.

  3. Aah ! I’m a bit late !

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAH ! What a romantic title !

That Ikemou is as interesting as ever ! Too bad he still doesn’t have a POV. Well, he sure saiid fun things.

And I wonder how Asora will react to these peaceful demons ? Though, I don’t think we’ll have much of informations about it.

Well, thanks for your work !

  4. Confession time: I don’t get why people bitch about Hibiki. She’s an A-type overachiever, She uses social-fu to make friends, and her power increases the more people see her as a hero (so, literally a popularity power).

The worst thing about her is that she hates the demons, because she’s seen them kill people, and they’ve killed some of her friends. She even acknowledges this bias, much more cleanly than Makoto his own anti-hyuman bias.

    1. People more so rip on Hibiki due to various reasons. For 1 obvious reason to get it out of the way that makes me and probably others throw her into trash category is that she believe the goddess is beneficial to that world when really that bug is not. The goddess is the main root of many problems in that world and more so stagnates it and everyone rather than provide them or the world anything good outside. The only good thing the goddess could be doing is that she is probably maintaining the world’s vitality to a degree but a crappy degree none the less.

A huge reason was in previous chapters in which various people discussed her incredibly idealistic and dumbass view of the demons and the world and on to fix it. Firstly she believed the demons in order to survive and get up in life was to be enslaved and work their way up in hyuman society. There are various kinds of stupid in that statement and let me blunt that was a VERY STUPID IDEA. The demons were kicking Hyuman ass and the heroes were nearly killed on several occasions and then were saved by Makato. The idea the demons needed to bend the knee to the Hyumans is quite damn stupid if it were believed the Hyumans were in a superior position to do so. The only good thing the Hyumans have are numbers and the heroes and they still got their asses handed. Also anyone can see that if the demons were to be enslaved their numbers would be wiped out anyway sooner or later and their chances to get up in life were non existent so long as the goddess existed. Yet Hibiki proposed that stupid plan of hers and just went off saying that if they didn’t finish their equality plan MAYBE some saint Hyuman will later on. That is probably a big reason why she gets flak. She be an incredibly self righteous bitch.

    2. I think the main reason she rubs me the wrong way is the combination of her attitude and actions.

Specifically, she lacks a lot of perspective. There’s the bias towards demons you mentioned, but there’s also that “winner’s view” she has. Being an overachiever is one thing, but she essentially has no concept of “being unable to accomplish”. Sure, she’ll work hard and overcome obstacles, but whether or not she can overcome something is never a question to her.

All this blends together to make her actions incredibly unfavorable to the “underdogs” (since she thinks they can just get out of their situation with hard work), sacrificing them for what she thinks is the greater good. You say she acknowledges her bias, but she still doesn’t do anything about it after acknowledging it, making self-awareness practically meaningless.

    3. I won’t reiterate what ShadArkos and Psychronia said, but regarding Hibiki acknowledging her bias, knowing that what you’re doing is wrong, and still continuing to do it, does not diminish the wrongness of that act. In fact it makes it worse.

It is sort of like the difference between manslaughter and murder.

Before, when Hibiki just got there, it was sort of understandable that she would fight against the Demons. She only had information from one side of the conflict, and hadn’t adjusted to her new situation yet. But now that she understands the Demons better, and their situation… well, you get the point.

    4. Basically she is like an avatar of american liberal democracy.
      USA 1900-1990 – propaganda + posing as a hero + brainwashing + setting up wars/civil wars + genocide + propaganda + no principles or morals + backstabing

USA 1993-2017 USSR is dead, USA has the most power in the world –
brainwashing + setting up civil wars + genocide + no principles or morals + backstabing + crushing/enslaving smaller countries when there is a hint of smell of profit or possibility of resisting their supremacy + almost no effort in propaganda or posing as a hero

Bichiki now – propaganda + posing as hero + brainwashing + setting up civil wars + genocide + propaganda + no principles or morals + backstabing + plans of enslaving weaker ones + plans of backstabing on those who has possibility of resisting her supremacy

p.s. this is the main reason of hating bichiki
p.p.s. she uses magically enhanced charisma to make fanatical slaves and leeching money/influence from them instead of using social-fu to make friends.

  5. I see.. Hate.. So its a grudge after all

Hyuman didn’t consider if makoto on the demon side, that means they will go extinct! And bitchbiki only think about her battle without consider other feeling, just forcing her own ideal because she is hero, because she is the chosen one lol, forget about useless empire, he can’t event think with brain.

Indeed, the war will end if the whole demon race move to asora, what left is war beetwen hyuman (that when bitchbiki realized how fool she is). With or without maoko on their side after war end there is only one race left, and the stupid bitchbiki will forcing to help the oppressed side in the end.

  6. Questioning the practicality and morality of common sense while measuring its worth in future terms is how modern civilization prospered(Too bad many took advantage of it and rode the waves).

That aside I can see too many Loopholes on Sari becoming the 10 migrating demons’ master, It should at least be Ema or Komoe-chan.

It is a good thing Makoto is a bad negotiator. Had he convinced Zef to have the ALL demons to migrate, sooner or later they will probably want more(ask Makoto to go to war) and take try advantage of him(which will get them extinct due to a certain spider).

    Also

I do not like the possibility of a ‘Lelouch vi Britannia’ route ,it is so not Makoto (unless of course Season 3 proves that Lulu(Sunrise) is the biggest troll in anime history).

  7. Thank you Reigokai for the speedy translations. Although this chapter is not one that will be considered epic or remembered all time, this time we get to see Makoto learning and growing a little. Which is actually good character development.

Also, “Good news, everyone.” (Read with Futurama’s Prof. Farnsworth voice).
    Ugh…

    ** SPOILER**

Truck-kun will be out of town for a week or so. Good news for you cause there’ll be no Truck to run over or hit you. Spoil as much as you want. If you want. I don’t care. I can’t.

Actually, I’ll be thrown to the middle of the sea, at a place near the national sea border, so no Internet or modern life for a while. No, I’m dead serious here. I’ll be out of phone reach and no way to access Internet, what more to visit this site. I’ll be missing Reigokai’s translation and you guy’s toxic rants. For a while. Sniff…

Hopefully the border guards won’t mistake me for an illegal trespasser and shoot me… or worst, kidnapped by pirates. Eeep!

Looks like it’s just me and you now, Mr. Wilson Volleyball…
    *packs into duffelbag*

  8. Thanks for the chapter. After reading this I can only think that Zef and the other demons who want to continue the fighting will fight to the end. After they are gone then the Empire will invade the Kingdom. Things have become really complicated.

  9. So the Demons living in a land where they can grow and prosper without taking any losses, become stronger as a people won’t work? Makoto isn’t explaining the situation thoroughly enough. All the races in Asora are strong and the demons would become stronger too. Not up to Tomoe, Mio or Shiki’s level. But, with a million or two, with Asora’s power and training would be devastating to the Hyumans.

  10. It’s always fun to see the disconnect between makoto and zef. If makoto focuses on a single , simple thing, zef considers a hundred difficult ones. So makoto’s intentions don’t even fall into zefs thought range, or perhaps it does but zef sees it as,’no way that can be true’… Anyway, I don’t know why, but I always imagine zef with a sweet, thin voice, though I know he’s a muscular ossan~ ty for the chapter!

  11. Makoto needs to find a way to power those domes by draupnir power. something that requires an tremendus output of magic is just the thing you need for your finger sized ZPMs to be of use

  12. Thank you for the chapter.
By the way, I’m considering stop reading comments.
They became too much in quantity and (much of them) too low in quality. And I’m not obligated to consider their opinion anyway.
It waste my time to find few diamonds in sea of mud when I can find pretty good gems elsewhere.

….I really miss old days where comments are so constructive and fun to discuss, without the pains of skimming through sea of eccentric opinions. Never thought this day will come.

  13. thanks for the chapter reigokai-sensei…
not much to say im a bit confusing in their conversation…
its like “what are you thingking makoto” are you want to make demon race become residance in asora…

  14. Everyone’s talking about their own opinion while I am sipping my tea I wonder how this interesting Point-of-Views will turn out. Thanks for the cup of tea, Reigokai-sama!

  15. Lol silly Zef course mokato hasn’t touched your daughter yet…..He’s a beta JP male and we all know they have no balls or penises nor do they ever have to live with the daily morning wood at that age…..Hell he’s been there like what 2 years now?? Give or take a few months…

Honestly if the author ended this with a small paragraph of welp mokato thought long and hard but couldn’t find any answers so he decided to round all the people he cared for put them all in asora and then sealed the gates to never be opened again the end ty for reading….At this point that ending would fit almost completely with his past actions an current mind set

  16. Thanks for the chapter, I’m seriously loving reading both the chapters and comments it’s making this way more fun to read

  17. How come every time i read the comments section – which is longer than the chapter BTW – i can’t help but grin and laugh by myself like a crazy person.

    it’s kinda mysterious…….

also maybe because i can’t help but understand where you guy’s are coming from in you comments.

also the character development of the mc might be a little fast but since it’s splendidly well done that i kinda can’t notice it if i don’t think it thoroughly, i might’ve missed it.
but that just makes the overall impact to be great.

and can someone tell me the total time that makoto has been in that world till this chapter?
i can kinda guess but just to be sure pls.

also thanks for the chapter reigokai-san.

    1. And most of all, his thick Japanese smell is bothering me. It is already been two years since coming to this world. Even Tomoki who has created a harem, has changed quite a lot compared to his time in Japan, and even I am remembering my past and trying to bring out that old self. And yet, his natural state smells like that of a Japanese, at least on the outside. Whatā€™s going on? He is way too involved in this world to be evading reality. Just what kind of lifestyle did he live in order to turn out like this?) (Hibiki)

      Chapter 207

    2. Yeah…I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This community is amazing.

Lots of deep discussion about the chapters and analysis that spans several chapters.

      1. Yes it have very toxic community with Hibiki haters which call her b*tch for any word she says, guys who want Makoto become a god, guys who want demons conquer humanity because they good guys, people who want extermination of hyumanity and a lot of people who discriminate hyumans.

        1. Most of us have already agreed that there is no ‘good’ side in this war. So you tell us, who do you think should win? The hyumans who have been using divine favor as an excuse to treat the Demi-humans as the trash of the world (at best), or the demons who are trying to change the world (whether or not what they will do once they win is better is something we can’t be certain of). Which of these options is the better one, oh Wise One? Personally, I think that at this point, any change is better than keeping the status que. But if you have a better opinion, I’d love to hear it.

      2. coatl45 well i speak about persons who shouts that are “demons go fight hyumans and destroy them” but did they think what will happen if demons will win? For first i can say they for sure will kill rulers and nobility of each country for make sure hyumans will not organise and don’t attack which will lead to collapse all nations. Second for threat hyumans which beloeve in goddess they start genocide hyumanity and probably kill between 60-90 percent if entire populace and demons don’t fight with unfair, they fight for better future of their race and will willingly sit on hyumans bones and make them third sort race

        1. Yes, the nobility and the clergy will be eliminated if the demons win. As will the majority of the hyuman population. The vice versa is true as well, should the hyumans win over the demons. Whichever side wins, the surviving population of the losers will be facing slavery. This is what wars of conquest and survival are. Like I said, there’s no good side in this war. But I’m legitimately curious about who you support in this conflict, now. And yes, some of our community can be overzealous when it comes to voicing their opinions, but as long as they state their reasoning, I don’t think there’s a reason to call them overly toxic.

      3. Dsahgf you know, calculating girl is not even close to backstabing bitch. And calling someone toxic for calling backstabing bitch – Bichiki is plain awfull…

  18. I think it’s possible to end the war just by proposing new lands to the demons, just by making better phrasing the idea, something like:

” I can give you lands which no hyumans nor Goddess may ever touch, allowing you to develop and live at your pace. How about it? “

    1. Zef understood that already.. But as he said.. That would not quell the anger and hate welling inside their hearts.. Unless they spill hyuman blood.. They wouldn’t feel satisfied.. Yeah.. He’s kinda twisted..

    2. Zef clearly stated to makoto what the problem would be with that, as a race, the demons have been oppresed and treated as a lower and inferior race, that put the hatred circle pretty deep down, and in a state of war and near extintion, for simply giving them a better place to live, he would be giving them a favour but not one that erases the hate, zef clearly states, in such case, it would only work because the war reached a conclusion favorably for the demon side

  19. Why do people want Makoto to become something like a god of destruction?

It’s like you are reading the story without actually learning anything…. or do you just want Makoto to be like other MC’s from other WN so badly?

If Makoto were to become an enemy of that world or act like a god of destruction, Shiva won’t just sit back and watch.

Do you remember what he told Makoto after he saved Sari? He said that Makoto did the right thing and that he should stay HUMAN.

The only reason the gods are supporting Makoto is because of his personality and morals. The same reason some of you hate Makoto for.

I think that some forget that Makoto stands in a position of neutrality.

The more comments I read, the more I see people thinking of ways for Makoto to end the war or influence it somehow. Some even become frustrated because Makoto hasn’t done anything yet, but Makoto’s goal was never to end the war of participate in it. That was all Hibiki’s ideas that she revealed during their discussion and somehow people think that Makoto is the one trying to find a way to end the war, when it is clear that he doesn’t really care about it.

Makoto just want to get back at the goddess.

Now he is thinking about the aftermath his actions will bring and is thinking of a way to deal with it, but he still isn’t going to participate or try to end the war.

He did propose migration to Zef, though, but he’s still not going out of his way to find a way to end the war.

    1. Finally someone who gets it.Makoto is not the usual MC, he will never act like a Messiah or a hero trying to save everyone, he wants to sell his products and is largely uninterested in hyumans and demons. That might change if one of his friends is attacked.
I think Tsige is going to drift away from Limia and that would turn into a reason for Makoto to attack hyumans.

  20. Thanks for the chapter master Regoka šŸ˜€

this guy >:( …..Makoto dont have backbones to do it he is going to die virgin come on the poor daddy Zef want grandchild šŸ™

  21. Thanks for the chapter^^
as i thought, Zef is a pretty reasonable cool guy burdened with the responsibility of an oppressed race. he’s even willing to let go the ones that don’t want to fight anymore. kinda like dejima island and the emprah in death march. why is it so common that the tyrant of a demon king is a far better and responsible ruler than the inept kings/emperors who either abuse their power themselves or let people that do so keep loitering around? if only he’d stop shipping Sari…or anyone really. it seems makoto would be more willing to talk if he’s not being pushed into a specific partner.
and i liked how makoto finally brought up bringing in the demon race so the messed up hyumans can go fuck themselves over. i want them to go for peace but so far most of the hyumans and hyuman leaders don’t really deserve it. i don’t really like some of the demon’s methods but i’m hoping with Sari that without the oppression or risk of extinction, they can live in Asora peacefully. but as expected, without some event like in rotsgard that would drastically change how the people think(except this time, about war and not just kuzonoha company), the demon race’s hatred wouldn’t just be forgotten.
i wonder if the main reason Zef won’t just leave that messed up ‘family’ even with Makoto’s offer is because he doesn’t know how isolated Asora is. He’s probably expecting that contact would be inevitable with the hyumans or bug hunting them down anyway. In the end, the bug has to go down for anything to proceed nicely huh.

    1. Well dude if you want think on this matter i recommend you think from different perspective. In first place what you doing is discriminate hyumans, second each ruler care about his land and where you saw that kingdom give freely land, or they prosperity, all creatures in world care about themself and doesn’t matter race, gender or other traits, rulers in first place think about their country. No demons don’t will migrate even if it safe place do you know any war which end up half way? Both sides cannot accept it and they want retribution on opposite side. Demons will continue war to finish it or people start feel bad because they lose a lot people and don’t gain anything or not lose then ask what was meaning such number of deaths? Zen and Sari said demons need bloody revenge.

      1. gah i get quite heated up and always end up with wall of texts for discussions on this novel XD sorry that it’s quite long…
First off, i do think from different perspectives and find it relatively easy to do. That doesn’t mean i can’t find their choices or actions badly made. That doesn’t mean i can’t shun it for being bloody, unproductive, or downright self destructive. being empathetic and disagreeing with someone are not mutually exclusive. emotionally feels good=/=logically good result. think addicts, be it drugs, murder, revenge, or gambling, you can think from their perspective and how it fills them with euphoria and sense of purpose…but can you actually say it’s good for them or those around them? especially when there is a perfect alternative being offered? demons continuing the war will not end well for them due to multiple disadvantages and even if they miraculously win, the goddess will be furious. although i’m not sure how much she can actually do or stop providing(like stop making the world fertile and making it harsh everywhere), it’s still not a bright idea to continue making a divine enemy when there’s paradise being offered for just leaving behind all the bad shit you went through.

Secondly, i’m not being pointlessly optimistic, i know there needs to be a long sincere effort from both sides for this war to stop in peace, but that’s not happening with the hyuman side as we saw from the ‘heroes'(lol) and leaders. so we can only work with the demon side like makoto. but there needs to be an event or some ‘cue’ to serve as a trigger for them. one of those possibilities is where sari comes in, if makoto can convince her and those peace demons to move past their grudges and live in peace, they in turn, might be able to properly convey to zef how trustworthy makoto’s offer is and they can all move in. i feel like he thinks the offer is so ridiculous he probably can’t properly consider it yet or at least tell it to the public. but after that, what happens to the hyumans would no longer be any of their business. if they destroy themselves, that’s their fault.

Thirdly, i’m not sure if you missed my point or misunderstanding the meaning of discrimination. discrimination is basically making UNFAIR ASSUMPTIONS and taking actions with those in mind. treating a black guy with contempt assuming he is a thief when he has no criminal record is discrimination, being wary of a black guy with numerous cases of thievery, is not. even if he has turned into a new leaf, there needs to be a lot of evidence for that good future to make up for the lots of evidence of his bad past. i am not unfairly guessing that the humans will be destroying themselves in a war between each other after the demons are gone, it’s outright stated by leaders of both parties that they are planning to do just that. what’s worse, goddess sponsored wars between humans are usually ended by which side she favors and no blood is spilt but not this time. bug will almost undoubtedly pick hibiki, but with guns and nukes, tomoki and lily will continue nevertheless. i am not unfairly guessing that the suffering will continue with the hyuman’s attitude, our world has no demons or other sentient races to the level of war, but look how many conflicts with each other we have, how many are still suffering and how social order is quite warped in a lot of places already.

        Fourth, where did i discriminate?
is it that the hyumans dont deserve peace? other than the obvious reasons, i said they don’t deserve peace as a whole, doesn’t mean i don’t want them to get it for the sake of the few that are ‘innocent’ or at least not that bad. maybe it would be better if i rephrased that into they don’t deserve victory or that i want peace ‘although’ they don’t deserve it instead of ‘but’.
Is it that the bug should go down? again, other than the obvious reasons, if you’re worried about the aftermath, if the demons(and those affiliated with them) are taken to asora, what exactly is going to threaten the hyuman’s existence? mamono’s are powerful, but they mind their own business at the edges of the world, just train more if you want to go farther.
Is it that i’m not saying to take the hyumans into asora? that’s millions to billions under the goddess’s watch and protection, they don’t even have any reason to migrate. and how exactly will a race that generally oppresses and conquers going to fit in peacefully in asora? makoto is hardly discriminating himself because he saw with his own eyes and experiences how dangerous they are. a select few would be possible like his student’s and rembrant’s family soon enough. he already has hyuman tourists going in from time to time via the ‘mist village’ cover story. but migrate as a race? just no.
Is it that i’m fine with them destroying themselves or numerous dying? no i’m not really fine with that. i’m offering alternatives precisely because i don’t want genocide end for any side……….but at some point, the level and numbers of stupid decisions and lack of remorse or good change surpasses the feeling of pity, and goes into “you know what? let me get some popcorn and just watch how you blow yourself up magnificently”

        1. Actually, that’s an interesting point you raised.

Has it been confirmed that the goddess would support Limia’s side if the hyumans win and the heroes start another war? What are the chances she’d pick Tomoki’s side?

      2. No, goddess will crush Bichiki before she can put Limia in civil war. Bichiki told that Goddess is docile, but it was big fat lie.
Our tsundere-bug is one of the most proactive gods ever, she manualy takes part in every conflict in the world and she love hyumans like her own children, obviously she would be kind to “her children” while bringing genocide to “not her children” and Bichiki is human.
So, some filthy human is trying to kill millions of hyumans in civil war to change world order while declaring that it is for the sake of reducing of discrimination of the filthy demihumans.
How long will remain “docile” our tsundere? I guess from several hours to several weeks.
p.s. big part of it will be a miscalculation of Bichiki, who is brainwashing young nobles instead of young nobles and young priests.

    2. I repeat demons need bloody revenge and I ask you again do you know any conflict which end on half way? Demons already too long war and most of them want revenge who they lost and if it not end by win like Zef said then demons will shout about war and doesn’t matter where are they. Siri cannot connvince Zef she lost status and Zef will do what demon race wish.

  22. people keep saying makoto should become a third power and nuke both side to force them to become allies, but wouldn’t it be easier to take over the border and cut any connection between hyumans and demons? It would be less violent and cause less destrution than randomly nuking both sides

    1. That way the demons would rebel because they want fertile lands and Hibiki would whine because she wants to kill demons.
Zef was speaking about hate but I feel that making hyumans go powerless by killing Bug would satisfy demons and implementing part of Hibiki’s plans about brainwashing younger generations could prove to be a proper solution.

      1. Can they feed their entire population with just that?
Zef also has to think about the future, even if Bug can’t descend herself she can still send people and reinforce hyumans.Demons need to know hyumans won’t be able to dominate them anymore and Zef thinks the only way possible is to wage war and exterminate each other. If Makoto kills Bug hyumans won’t get the blessing and I think that would reassure demons.

      2. considering elysion was a power on par with limia, and limia’s population was estimated between 20 and 60 millions, when the demons are 1~2 millions, I think even having half of elysion would be far enough

      3. Like Kaleneon, it doesn’t mean that every patch of land might be usable. That country could have mines or whatever as resources, from previous talks we learned demons stopped dying of hunger after conquering that land but that just mean they are barely surviving with their meager population.

      4. ….Say, something’s occurred to me. Is the reason the demons lack good land because the goddess only showers her blessings on the hyumans?

What I’m getting at is…if Makoto were to temporarily take the demons into Asora and let hyumans take over, could the former demon territory suddenly become prosperous?

It sounds like an interesting enough tactic to me for the demons to hide out in more prosperous lands for a while, then suddenly appear and strike back at the hyumans after effectively conning some blessings out of the goddess.

Depending on how long they’re willing to wait, a stronger peace movement could swing into motion-at the very least, the hyumans could get complacent again (also those internal wars brewing) while the demons safely multiply in numbers and polish their strength.

        1. I think that if the demons desappear and leave their bad lands, the hymans won’t claim them, first conditions to live there are way to harsh, and then I think that they have more than enough space in the lands they own. The Goddes didn-t made a fair distribution when she did her creation in that world, she used all the confortable and fertyl land for hyumans and the rest she leaved it to other species.

          1. No, that’s what I’m saying-or rather, asking.

Are the lands fertile, “so” the hyumans get to live there, or is it fertile due to blessings from the goddess because hyumans live there?

          2. The lands are fertile “so” hyumans guet to live there, demons, demi-hyumans and mamonos guet to live on others land that are harder to live that the fertile ones.

          3. I see. I don’t remember where that was mentioned, but I can take your word for it.

In that case, will the hyumans even be able to deal with that sort of environment during the late stages of the war?

          4. Actually it hasn’t been mentioned but one can assume given, the Goddes dialogues and the description of the world, since hyumans are her favorite I assume that she decided to spoil them. I really don’t think that hyumans now are ready to advance a campaing in the demons lands, I don’t believe they have any General with expierence in such a harsh envioroment and thats not including the mamonos that they may find in there. Those expedition seem doom to fail, even Napoleon couldnt handle such a rash change in the climate when he invaded Russia.

          5. Wait, what?

What I was saying was “since the goddess spoils hyumans, isn’t it possible that letting hyumans occupy the land will make her turn it fertile?”. What’s the inference that it won’t work like that?

    2. Yes but maybe such an action will force either side to see him as actually protecting the other, wich may force them to see him as an enemy.

      1. Is that really a problem for Makoto? He compared getting involved with the war as choosing a foot to kick a pebble with. If the world sees him as an enemy, that’s just kicking two or three pebbles instead of one.

        1. First of all that guy is a smooth bastard, that style to stop the figth was just wonderfull. Well is true for Makoto it doesn’t affect him mutch but thats one way ticket to the Armaggedon endindg, since with his streng he can-t force both sides to stop trying to kill each other the only other venue will be to anylhate one or both sides, I don’t think Makoto would like to do that.

    3. I had thought about that too. He already nuked Fort Stellar. That is effectively slowing any progress for frontal assault from both side. ąøŗBut that is a inferior offer compared to offer a land, and they will definitely against it. Hyuman want ‘their’ land and pride back and teach a lesson to anyone try to oppose them. They ABSOLUTELY cannot let demons go unscathed because that will lead other slave race to revolve. Demon want to revenge and ensure their future. They know hyuman will not forgive them and hyuman still pose superior power, with more room to grow. Even without development of tactic and weapon, time is not on demon side as with given time, hyuman will increase in number and with their more advantages, demon tactics will yield under brute force. So the day Kazunoha company fell, demon will fell too. Thus they will bet on end this war ASAP. These aren’t include the main culprit yet, Hatred.

      1. but it will still work better than a lelouch I think.
I can’t see them forgetting their grudge for a common enemy, once that enemy will dissaper, they will go back to their previous situation. nakama pĆ“wer won’t work that easily

        1. Lelouch’s method has NO chance of success, as you can see from hyuman side right now. Or may be demon is not terrifying enough?
Personally I think Lelouch method work because they was used in war for independence, not racist war for survival like this. Both side believe that each other can not understand their side.

    4. Actually a zero requiem option is probably needed: focus the hatred of the whole world onto his shoulders and then “die”. Lol. Or not.

  23. If makoto declaring to destroy the world maybe hyuman and demon will stop their war

    Anf thanks for chapter

  24. Thanks for the chapter Regokai, this one was a good eye opening for Makoto to realize in wich areas he has to work to keep on maturing, it is refreshing to know how the Demon King sees the conflict of the Demons and Hyumans as siblings figthing. It points out how deteriorated the relationship between both sides are and how seemengly null a peacefull resolution of the conflict exist. Sadly the hate outweighs reason for both sides. At least we know that the DK is guetting there without any delusion. And both sides forefront figther reached the same conclusion of total anhiletion of the other side for a complete sease of fire. It would be interesting to see a discussion between Joshua, Hibiki and Zef it would bring more live to this story. At least we see that the author actually put a lot if thinking in this conflict and not merely as a plot to have heroes summoned.

  25. War is more complicated than what people thought of. It usually starts because 1 party wants something the other party have.

But if it prolongs for too long, all the battles and killings in the war will plant a deep-seated hatred in the depth of all the peoples involved, the war is no longer for the objective it was long ago when it started, but instead it was just because of the emotions of hate and vengeance.

Makoto is too pure to understand this fact, but its great that he understands this now. Now he understands why Hibiki will fight the demons to the end. In the words of chinese novels, they can’t live under the same heavens, or breathes the same air.

    Thanks as always Reigokai.

  26. thank you Rei-san!!

do anyone think that this chapter has a romantic in nuance between Mako-chan and Zef? LOL

anyway, i could see that demons have acquired some good points in Makoto’s mind that he thinks about their safety and tried to find a better solution to end the war. sadly, as a wise lord he is, Zef doesn’t think it will solve the root of all problems.

    1. Romantic?
      Zef and Makoto??
      How??? šŸ¤”
I think you read shounen-ai stuff too much. šŸ˜Ž

The chapter conveys Zef’s thoughts about Makoto’s actions… in which he understand less and less about his way of thinking. He have no way of understanding him because he always thought that Makoto have ulterior motive when dealing with Demon clan. But… he actually don’t. Even his proposal to give ‘land’ to them was just that he thought it will reduce the chance of war, when it actually doesn’t.

(Makoto ‘s only hidden motive is to have onsen)

  27. Makoto could still take them by force to Asora. How are they gonna do war there when they can’t get out? The hatred should dissolve in time in a place such as Asora. I mean it’s better than killing them all, right?

  28. Huaaa i really can’t predict where this story want to go
    To much politic
    To many conflict
Just kill that damn goddess and happy ending hahahha
    Thx for regio-sama
I just want know how much chapter this novel
Will it take my whole life to read it??

  29. Makoto must be the third power to rise and nuke some powerhouse nation to test thier draupnir spears to set an example for the two factions. forcing them enter a stalemate or a conclusion of coexistence under a greater power that they cannot even fathom. After some years of peace a small faction that doesn’t want makoto to be the leader and wanted to overthrow him. Making his so very pissed of and releasing some hundreds and thousand draupnir spears to wreck havoc.

  30. Sorry I’m late, I was asleep. Anywho, thanks for the chapter Reigo-senpai.

Well guys, the arc after this one will mark the end of my advanced knowledge of this novel. So I’m kinda hoping that Reigo-senpai finishes this before Spoiler-san returns. I’m enjoying not having to fear getting run over by Truck-kun.

  31. this talk really is between an adult and an innocent child. And No, it’s not an attempt to spite at anyone or Makoto. It’s literally a scene where a curious child would ask their parents why adults won’t stop figting, stop waging war and start living in peace hand in hand, only to get a response that “it’s complicated”. Religion, Profit, Belief, World Conquest, Politics, Self-preservation, grudge, Justice, Oppression, a Woman.
    Take your pick.

Humans tends to invent various reasons to create conflict, which to a child doesn’t make sense. If it were my kid asking me, “brat, the World is just a one big television. Just shut up, go get us some popcorn and watch with your old man.”

    Cheers~

  32. Thanks for the chapter kai-senpai!!!
I hope that the Makoto can grow even more, we can see that he is no longer so naive and that he is becoming more and more the judge of the balance of life in this world.

  33. The chain of haterd huh…
Though as makoto said if one to endure the war may end…
Butits mot easy.. No one can forgive if your family or friends getting killed in front of you…
Also even one surrender or endure there is no gurantee one side may forgive nor stop the war… There may abuse or masacre..

  34. The Demons migrating to Asora is probably the best solution.

They would have no problems with any of the other races and no way to get out of Asora, so they wouldn’t come into contact with human at all.

Kinda funny Makoto completely through that plan away based on the words of two people who don’t know about Asora.

  35. Makoto’s maturing a bit, how nice. I guess he tries to be optimistic even if it seems absurd. I like that the author actually shows these discussions and doesn’t just keep the veil of dense-ness around Makoto.

  36. this is the very first chapter that i grab the reason (mind speaking) why everyone see makoto as an extreme threath (aside his endless power). Until this point every inside makoto way of thinking didn’t ran a bell since actually his pov is justified (because how the hyumans act) and very realistic but the sentence of his way of settle the the problem with the neptunes for searwhale is just disturbing.

his way of dealing with troubles is simple and straight forward but there are times where he doing it that way, even if what he say may be truth; is just beyond any sane mind, or at least it is for that statement of killing the neptunes to resolve searwhale problem with his brother, is not something one must think if one see for a way to end a dispute .

  37. thanks for the chapter.

The demons have a strange wariness toward body parts, maybe a literary Makoto 2 appears or an enhanced soldier.

  38. Thanks 4 the chapter!

One way to get both sides to consider peace is giving them an overwhelming enemy that they can’t defeat alone. Though I don’t think Makoto will choose this route. Beside, I’m not sure their survival instinct could overcome their hatred.

    1. We already have foreshadow of this ‘overwhelming enemy’ in past chapter.
Believe me, he’s out of this world.

….. and Makoto will be the savior of all worlds.

      The end.

      1. I’m invincible! Hahaha! Come and get me!

        Actually, I didn’t spoil anything.
This is fully conjecture, I believe that the ‘overwhelming enemy’ a.k.a Last Boss is not the Goddess, but the hidden character that gave the special powers to Hibiki and nuke ability to Tomoki.
He/she have ulterior motive in doing so; to create more parallel universes (which the Gods Shiva, Susanoo & Athena destroys). It’s still unknown what reason it is for and his relationship to the Goddess is still not revealed.

        1. …What? That’s it?

I hope you weren’t expecting to cause panda-monium from that.
Although, if you open panda-ra’s box, then joining in should be fair game.
Puns are a panda-mic where I come from, some I’m pretty good at bearing with it.
The trick is to not look at things in black and white.

  39. hahaha, he should just throw a couple hundred draupnirs at the border, make them explode and create a giant gourge filled with chaotic magic no one can pass alive xD See how they will do war then xD
i can see it, Makoto, sitting on a cloud like that one Super mario mob with a big bag of draupnirs, bombing the border with his instable rings xD Would be an awesome way to lift frustration about the nature of satient lifeforms xD

  40. The two sides are fighting for the exact same reason; hatred. Neither really care about the original cause of the battle anymore, just that the enemy must be destroyed. That’s the problem with extended battles like this; reason is lost and only death exists. Zef really comes across as a sad ruler, much more than any of the human forces. He hates what had happened to his people, but lacks any way to stop it. He jokes, he kids, but he’s also struggling all the time.

Even though he fears Makoto, I get the feeling Zef sees Maktoto as the only person in the world, becides Rona, he can be frank with. By understanding Makoto is neutral and has the power to back it up, Zef seems almost relaxed. He’s sitting at the foot of the dragon, and despite it being possibly the most dangerous place you could possibly be, it also offers a sense of safety. Zef MUST be the leader, at all times and all hours. No one is above him, except Makoto. When you’re the symbol of strength, you cannot waver, but when you’re the weaker one, you can show your true feelings, because they don’t expect you to be strong.

    1. i like this interpretation of Zef and makoto.

No point of acting tough when you know that you have no way of defending against the guy. not having to be the strong guy all the time must be a huge temptation for guys in his position so he might as well just open a bottle and have a drink with the destroyer of worlds. not like you can stop him from doing whatever he wants anyways.

  41. Makoto, if he really works hard, he could form the 3rd neutral force that wants to end the war and become the most important person. He could slowly bend thoughts of the populace by popular “no war, everyone wants peace” kinda slogans, start a small cult. With the current standing of him and his firm he could truly propagate some small movement. Cults are scary.
    Thanks for the chapter!

  42. Man, seems like i’m the only one who did not like the chapter.
The whole banter about Sari came of as annoying, and implying that Makoto might want to sell demons secrets to hyumans was, at minimum, insulting.
Makoto’s admission that he needs to grow would be lot more welcome, if he had not had the realization dozens of chapters ago (start of mutant arc), and did not seem to actively avoid it.

The whole idea that demons might stop if the reason for war (need for land or goddess, take your pick) disappears should have gone out the window in his first visit to demons, Zef was pretty clear then that this was no longer about survival, but revenge.
Taking few demons who desire peace might be workable, but i hope he does not bring them to Asora, because it is almost certain some of them will be spies.
Instead, make a city somewhere in the wasteland where he can store people he needs to keep safe, but does not want to bring to Asora, could disguise it as a reseach center or production facility, maybe even use it to meet hyuman/demon bigwigs when disgussing trade.

    1. well even if they’re spies, they can return to the demons land, did you forgot that no one can open gate to Asora unless they have straight connection of Master-Servant contract to Makoto? (Sari is not included since its a different kind of master-servant contract and Komoe-chan have Draupnir in which is Makoto’s Magic power as her core)

      1. There is a permanent portal in Kaleneon to stabilize Asoran climate, it would be hard, but escaping Asora and getting information to demons is not impossible
And even if escape is impossible, this does not mean they might not attempt causing problems (like the adventurers earlier with the ring).
It would not be a huge security risk, but it would be one, and creating some decoys in the wasteland would actually provide extra security to Kuzunohas secrets.

      2. if i remember correctly it just the ‘lingering’ portal and not the ‘fully opened though, well if they try to make their way, do you really think they stupid enough to invoke makoto’s wrath to the demons race ?

  43. ā€œThatā€™s right. It is a sibling fight where the siblings hate each other to the point of killing. By the way, the parent is the ally of the other side.ā€ (Zef)

Hmm….. I think I can imagine it. It’s normal in some CNs after all. Well, in the end one of the siblings either die or something bad happens to him/her and the other one (MC) leaves the family.

    Thanks for the chapter desu~

  44. Does it not occur to anyone else that if the Demon nation disappears and leaves to asora it would cause the goddess and everyone else go nuts trying to track where they went?

I mean the only reason the migration being going well is that they picking tribes that noone gives too fucks about and weren’t watching them

I mean if he try to recruit the dwarfs in lorel it will bring alot of attention to where the hell is waka base located

Looks to me that common sensse strikes again and waka dodged the bullet barely

    1. True…If the demon race suddenly vanished one day, hyumanity would probably be freaking out expecting a sneak attack.

      ….Well, I’m sure they’ll get used to it. šŸ˜›

      1. The Hyu are idiots, its the bug and the sup dragons who are going to try to break waka balls to find out where there are

And the endgame would start once the bug figures out about waka making a planet

    2. They would go nuts for a little bit but what would they do if they found out? Make an enemy of a nation that absorbed the nation that was one sidely kicking your ass and is known to possess far superior firepower, products and reach than you? At best they would bitch but things would more or less calm down after the heroes calm things down or Makoto nuked another city. Also afterwards if the demons do disappear we all know Trashmoki is plotting to go to war with everyone. They would then be preoccupied with themselves and more or less keep an eye on Makoto who again would play neutral till they pissed him off.

  45. YESS!!!!!! cmon makoto you need to learn already what everyone its telling you KILL ALL HYUMANS AND DEMONS AND GODESS AND THE PEACE WILL COME! simply as that.. why cant you understand something so simply. because you are japanese? my $”Ā·$!”Ā· because you are clueless? bull54″Ā·$Ā·$ i dont hate how annoying its makoto sometimes but really piss me off how pointless he takes the mind of others and how he doesnt understand his partners feelings.. seriously i just $%”Ā·$”Ā·$ hope that the day he decides to be with either mio or tomoe the idiot of the hero didnt gain enough power to charm them and ntr`d them.. but how this author its taking things slow that will prob happen…

  46. thats just sad. to say it without a doubt people would want war. there are bound to be hardliners but …… he should have asked first. makoto should just create the rangers of peace and justice team. who fight we go jail them wait that sounds just like cops

  47. “It may be this late in the game, but thatā€™s how I thought.”
like seriously it’s been 200ish chapters and we finally get a confirmation that Makoto IS growing up!

and is he seriously considering that(here a new land so stop war with hyuman) option?

        1. I’m sure somewhere in the multiverse (is that what the “everything” with the many Isekai gods and worlds are called?) there’s a destruction god that wrecks worlds with Jojo’s dancing and posing.

      1. it worked, didn’t it? and unlike lulu, he could just play the big bad role for a while (beating the goddess a little… little bit while on it) then disappear to azora

or prepare a dragon (not literally… though he could prepare a real one), a couple of mid-bosses at serwhale’s level would probably be more than enough, let them wreak havoc for a while and voilah!

There’s also the Hiroshima&Nagasaki way, but I cannot picture Makoto going manhattan project

      2. Well …. the plan goes astray a few times, but in the end he managed to salvage of what’s left and make it work anyway…., that’s why I’m totally againts new season of code geass, that one has perfectly “fitting” ending, I was satisfied and I don’t need anymore plot twist from that damned anti-hero.

Anyway to make new enemy is equal To overthrown Bug first, if not she will probably summon another heroes or reporting Makoto behaviour to other god, which is not good.

One other example that show those tricks works are lies in evil god average, she become a totally new power and become the world foundation of new peace. … her grimoar are totally evil though.

        1. They’re making another season of Code Geass? I hope it has nothing to do with Lelouch. It can have CC, but Lelouch’s story is already over.

    1. that’s too much like westeros comic Watchmen… but yes, if Makoto really could stomache such extreme violence, she could have just told Mio to go rampage a bit. However that possibility would make the Goddess attack them immediately . Bad End. Or at least Ragnarƶk end with with Makoto’s god-like powers and his support from Earth gods.

    2. When I think about your proposal, I found it….very interesting.

Root mentioned in his POV that Makoto and co. pose more military capability than hyuman and demon COMBINED. Now I want to see face of Goddess when she is forced to grant divine protection on demons to fight Makoto and co.

Those two dragons must love this, might includes some Gods too.

    1. Yeah, sometimes I forgot that too (mostly because the heated discussion of comments section) Hibiki also shares Makoto’s mentality, she may been forged in fires of war but she still lack many years and hardships Zeff has gone through. Heck I can bet she’s still virgin.
That’s why our “heroes” are lacking so much in terms of mature minds, which is good, if they did not act like that the story will flow in more boring way, I can see Satou (death march) in Makoto thought process, but it will takes him a few years to become like him. (Iirc Satou is almost 30 years when he transferred in 17 years old body, his mind and appearance are not exactly a match)

  48. …even though the Root get rid off… the hatred still remains…. and even if Makoto take over the God Seat and tell the Hyumans to stop War against demons race…. still the majority of them will not accept that… and start the rebellion… just like the Demons Race…. the extreme way is…. Kill all Goddess Believers…. and who support the wars…. LOL…. i think thats what “Dream Makoto” do….. he became enemy of the world…. destroying anything that block his path to true peace…. become “New Demon Lord”……..
or…. just use “Zero Requiem” plan ~ hohohoho ~

      1. Makoto can you know… he has anything to become Lelouch… not about the Geass or Cunning Mind…. but the Power and Authority…..
remember the dream… he became Demon Lord with Zef become his General….

  49. God this pansy makes me want to throw up. Hes no man, he’s just a mentally challenged fucking Retard that has no self asteem and won’t even take a woman because he’s a nice little virgin what a fucking load of crap. He is 8/8 my least favorite MC.

      1. I too find it puzzling people still read this if they believe the MC in this novel is all this random crap they throw out. They comment on chapter 217 complaining about random shit yet still continue to read and complain. Would be understandable early on in chapters before 100 but come on people -_-.
Also what does having to sleep with another woman have anything to do with being a man? Just to say there is no real love interests so to speak for him(Mio threw her chance for him under a truck) and he has been focused on other shit lately rather than thinking who to fking bang in the afternoon. We are at the point where the MC is trying to determine their course in the world and how to fix the problem goddess and how to deal with the aftermath after said problem is removed. I can agree with giving the MC crap for not thinking all this shit through before when he has said he wanted to remove the goddess problem but I disagree that the MC is a mentally challenged retard. At best you can call him a passive naĆÆve fellow but lets be honest he has been thrown into a position of power and territory when has no experience or training whatsoever in the middle of a war as a third power and has been preoccupied with a lot of shit.

      2. Easy bro. Mio didn’t throw anything under me. šŸ˜† I didn’t kill off her chances, she did.

And don’t blame her for it cause she was a hungry spider before meeting Makoto, not some slut. She look up to him and adore him. It’s also her first time loving someone. Of course she wants some vanilla.

Yeah, I also agree that Makoto is no coward when it comes to sex (or whatever it is called in your country). He’s just not interested in it, currently. Maybe later too, who knows. My stance is that he no pussy or a cowardly male. He’s practicing abstinence, in preparation for his ascension to Godhood. You know, like Siddharta Makoto or something.

        1. You know, that’s a good point. Mio’s as inexperienced in love as Makoto(arguably less so considering he at least has experience being in a love triangle for…two days?). Tomoe too, probably.

I did always imagine the girls turning meek(for a short time) if Makoto ever went on the offensive.

    1. ….remember…. like what Trash Hibiki said…. he’s the man who hold his “Japanese” thinking dearly…. that he will take the women if Makoto and the Women have same interest…. love… if not…. Makoto would never touch that women….. no matter how madly or wants to fuvk makoto… as long makoto doesn’t have the same interest… he would never do that…. thats makoto… his “Japanese way”…. and if you forget…. Makoto would do the “Thing” with Mio if Mio says it… and Makoto will accept too… it just Mio blunders way of thinking make that event didn’t happen…..

      1. That one unforgettable moment for me !
Where Mio stumble and chicken out at the last second.
Tomoe laughed ever so hard at Mio.
        Truly a golden moment.

    2. I can’t understand why some people hate virgins. I’ve seen some guys commenting of wanting the heroine getting raped and mind broken because they can’t stand the MC not screwing her. That’s just sick.

    3. wrong novel mate:) i think you search for some women raping slime novel don’t ya? humu~ humu~ it’s okay, it’s just fictional works after all

    4. >not sexually abusing a 10 years old slave
      >”heā€™s just a mentally challenged fucking Retard that has no self esteem ”

I swear you better not be part of people calling tomoki “trashmoki”.
you’re very thirsty, I advise you to go back to fakku.net.

        1. I… I don’t know… I never gone there! I swear!
I only heard legends about it.
some say it’s a place full of dream and happiness
other say it’s the land of wicked and sinners.
All in all, it’s a mysterious place.

      1. ah, another brethen….. too bad that battlefield has become quite lost cause for us without treasure…. i suggest to try other battlefield like hitomi, nhentai, etc.
come my brethren… let us wander on a journey to the distant land

      2. its the wonder of multiverse that have their own special kind of story telling, since you usually ran over people, sometimes they end in that world where they wandering on a journey to defeat evil Ma-ou with special kind of ‘technique’ , cultural exchange with monster girls, etc . (the technique are secret and cant be told here *wink wink*)

  50. Thanks reigo-sama
This is getting better now. No more very simple blockhead of an mc, he is starting to grow at his own pace. So i think that we will now get less annoyed at his simplistic ideals which are not so good sometimes because they are so illogical.

    1. ”I am far away from being competent enough, but if I just continue working steadily…”

After reading this part until the end of the chap, i started to think Makoto is not illogical at all in that sense. Since the beggining he knew that he lacked common sence, and thus when he spoke with Hibiki, he just talked about his ideal, what he think about the world.

What that means? He said nothing about a real plan. He said he wanted to bring down the goddess, but never said he’s actively trying to do it nor he’s planning to do it in short term. He knows that his ideal is simplistic, so he won’t do anything yet since he still don’t know the consequences of doing that, and that’s the very reason of why he’s speaking with Zef, to know what they think about the war and what would happen if certain elements of the war are removed (He came to know that even if the goddess of the land issue were resolved, the war would still continue).

  51. This is why Zef as a character in this Novel is a highly respected person in my book. He represents the demon’s problem so well and acknowledges all the problems and decisions he has made and what needs to be done. A true ruler in a sense that is needed for the demons. Zef you my hero man compared to the fakes the goddess summoned.

    1. well, heroes are the people champions, even though he’s the DEMON LORD, in the demon race he is their HERO, while the heroes in hyuman faction can be considered as DEMON LORD in the eyes of demon race
basically HERO are based on the perspective of the faction that call the individu the HERO

      1. One culture’s ‘god’ is another culture’s ‘demon’. Not sure if I read that somewhere, or that’s just the conclusion I came to on my own.

      2. ah maoyuu… btw anyone know where to read the full translation ? LN or WN maybe ? since the manga update kinda like death, damnit :'( really want to know the ending

      3. @dicky satria : I do believe they has laid out the ending in manga ? The Hero survived the war with demon lord and white knight, they leave their political seat and going to travel the world in search “another view beyond the hill” in short they did survive and live happily ever after (the 3 of them)

      4. the manga skip a lot of chapter, i mean i want to know the full story of the war end, i know there’s post about last chapter in which they seem like finally getting married and on journey to see the world beyond

    2. The impression I have of Zef is that he’s a person that’s already completed his character arc.

Hibiki, Makoto, and even Tomoki are all people that aren’t really certain of themselves yet. They don’t know who they are, or who they want to be, or aren’t ready to make the sacrifices needed to do so. They have many trials to go through, and a lot of room to grow. Heck, even Tomoe needed to come to terms with Makoto’s mortality(as far as we know) and Mio had to learn a number of life lessons after getting a new body.

Zef, on the other hand, seems like someone that’s already been through all the bullshit and is resolute as a character to do what he feels he needs to. It’s not pleasant in the least, but he’s mature and willing to do it.

    3. but since when is he the demon’s hero?
I think it from before the start of the war, so at least 25 years, he is far more mature and experimented than the hyumans hero, and since he is from the ‘poor victim’ side, it is easier to empathize with him than for the hyumans’ heroes.

hibiki is still immature and search what she have to do by doing what limia’s people want, and is still biased by her inability to understands the ones bellows.
you can condemn hibiki all you want for her wanting the war to keep going because hyumans want demon’s blood, but that’s exactly what zef did. Makoto proposed an opportunity that zef refused because demons want hyuman’s blood, and even suppressed all opposition that could make the mass swing on a more pacific end for the war in this chapter.

And tomoki, well, he never though very deep about it, he just think that if he conquer the world there will be no more war and everyone would be happy…

PS: daily reminder that Zef is the current secret leader of the rebellion against himself. he is on a whole new level of manipulation, a crazy chess master!

  52. Makoto: “Hey, the reason you guys are going to war is mainly because you don’t have good land, right? If I solved that, do you think the war would stop?”
    Zef: “No.”
Makoto: “Aww… by the way, do you know what I was planning on doing if you said yes?”
Zef: “… Uh… give us good land?”
Makotor: “No way! How did you guess?!”
    Zef: “….”

    Also:
ā€œSo as long as they can work, the gender doesnā€™t matter huh. This was a verbal slip then.ā€ (Zef)
Was this line suggesting that Zef thinks Raidou swings both ways?

    1. Well, it might not be impossible. Zef probably views Makoto as some god playing at being mortal (which would explain some of his lack of common sense) and most immortals probably swing both ways when they get old enough. (I probably would try it at least after the second century if I got curious enough.)

        1. Different times man. Although, I’m not sure about turning myself into a mare. Or carrying the foal to term. I just think that the Jƶtunn Lord was being a pervert on that one, even if he was embarrassed as hell when he brought Sleipnir into Asgard.

          1. Being immortal is very different from being a shapeshifter though.

If I was immortal, then yeah. I’d probably be willing to try new things eventually. It could be a century later, it could be a millennium, but trying everything is kind of the job description of being unbound by time.

            ….If I’m an immortal shapeshifter though….Well, we’d have options in that case, y’know? Ā¬wĀ¬

      1. Well, boredom is the greatest enemy of immortals. If immortals really exist, all of them would probably die or go insane before the end of the universe, because, well, boredom.

        1. Actually, it’s occurred to me that the age of the universe, while great, is actually well within acceptable ranges when we’re putting things on the max scale.

If I were given literally all the time in the universe to live and had the power implicitly held by immortal creatures, chance are I’d be able to find a way to keep myself occupied on some level. It’ll probably be something like grinding out all of a character’s skills and stats though.

          1. LOL. I would find that boring though.

But would you stay sane if you live that long?

          2. That is a good question, which is why I very much like the Phoenix Cycle from the Demons of Astlan series. A form of rejuvenation through reincarnation sort of deal.

          3. Well that depends on how much I empathize with the lesser lifefor-I mean, mortals.

In terms of metal well-being, attachment to things that’ll pass me by is the first bullet to dodge for an immortal and boredom comes after that.

At that point, it depends how much power I have to kill time with. Maybe my perspective is too small, but the various entertainment of the world feels like it could be plenty to keep me occupied. I imagine that all the entertainment-stories, films, games-will be able to last several times the lifetime of mankind if I indulge in going back to reread/watch/play things.

In fact, on the topic of mankind, it would probably be super important to have living beings to interact with. For the first few millenia, life is uncivilized and so I get to live like a king over followers due to being unstoppable(immortal) in battle. I could probably go the god route, but that sounds like more trouble than it’s worth.
After the race accidentally discovers logical thinking, I get to indulge in debates with philosophers-and have a practically cheating edge if it’s not my first lifeform civilization. As they evolve further, they start becoming prosperous enough for some real entertainment like theaters, so that’ll be fun.
I’m not sure if they’ll all have renaissance periods, but races that have those are bound to be fun to hang around in that time…You get the idea.

Learning all the professions alone would be great time wasters, but then there’s the people’s entertainment and arts to dig into. I’ll probably spend most of my time searching for sentient life, then milking them for all the enjoyment they’re worth.

Would I stay sane? …No idea. But I could probably make it work in terms of boredom, assuming I’m properly equipped in my immortality(if it’s a curse type without any secondary powers, then that’s a whole other can of worms).

          4. Are they? I don’t think it’s fair to declare them insane just because they’re immortal.

Although, I guess they all definitely have some values that heavily deviate from normal people. The question is, “what is insane defined as and at what point is that line considered crossed?”.

          5. remind me of the last chapter of sengoku youko, when the guy purposely become dumber because it’s easier to support ‘time’ like that

“the trick of being happy is to forget about all the unimportant stuff.
turning into an idiot is something I do on purpose. on purpose.”

      2. If i was immortal and power, i would still shut myself in a single room watch anime ,read manga and play games.no need to worry about anymore shit.

        1. Actually, if I were immortal, it might be fun to troll the historians. For example, hire people to create stuff like the Nazca Lines or Stonehenge, then see what explanations people come up with in the future.

          1. Right, so you’d be one of those gods. The kind that mortals like me would curse because of shit like that. Ah, who am I kidding, I’d be doing the same thing.

          2. Hey, I think I’m being very reasonable not pretending to be a god that demands sacrifices for my own amusement. It’s only on the level of trolly pranks. Not even Loki-level of screwing with people.

Oh man. Being able to shapeshift would be an awesome accompanying ability though. I could enact the entire Greek Mythos with only myself and the random mortal smucks that I deem suitable as heroes though.

As an oracle/angel: “You must go slay the the wicked hydra that’s terrorizing the town! Take this sword, which is the only thing that can kill it!”
Run run run run….ahead of the hero…
As the evil hydra: “Gwahahaha! I shall eat this fair maide-OH NOES I AM SLAIN! WHAT IS THE HERO OF LEGEND DOING HERE!? BLEH!”
As descending god: “Congratulations chosen hero! As a reward, have these great riches(10 years’ savings)! Fareweeeeeeell!!!”

….Yeah. that’d be fun. Before this discussion, I didn’t realize how important having sentient lifeforms was to killing time as an immortal.

  53. oh no! makotos getting corrupted by the demon race! lol! Why and how did makoto get infected by a loli servant?

    1. Calm down, we have Mio brand women repellent right here, any woman that dares to set her sight to Makoto pants are bound to be swallowed into the tender everlasting darkness of Mio-sama.

      1. I think Mio sama has clearly stated as long as she get his first time, Tomoe is free to make a move after that. So in a sense Tomoe is special case since Mio sama feels gratitude to madam Tomoe, if not for her Mio sama won’t even have the form she have today.
But let’s say madam Tomoe is violating those treaties, I believe Mio sama wont have any hesitation to erase madam Tomoe along with Asora, she will go full yandere mode…. actually…. scratch the dere part she won’t bother to be deredere after that, and I assure you my friend…. we don’t want that.

  54. Oh man. OH MAN.

This chapter was relatively uneventful, but very significant. Between the eerie instincts that tell them more about Makoto than was said, the various new understandings of the other party by all sides, and broadening of options, Zef and Hibiki really are becoming fantastic foils for each other.

Makoto definitely took a lot away from this simple conversation, and that last part seems to be the author assuring us that Makoto is growing, so I’m glad for this chapter despite the general lack of excitement.

    1. well… i think in this chapter we got the sight of how a King give their wisdom and knowledge to his peers or above about what kind of things a ruler should know , even though technically Makoto is King or above, he still lack the insight of seeing things and beyond of it for the wealthy of his people
well that just my own opinion though

        1. You can’t deny that they both came to the conclusion that Kuzunoha has a stronghold away from everything and everyone. We might not like Hibiki, but looking down on her intelligence because of that would be a mistake.

          1. hmm while I see Zef as a “realist” I cannot help but look at Hibiki as just a dreamer, a pseudo-liberal from a first world country of the kind that says “hey socialism rocks!!” …’til they experience it it by themselves.

But you’re right on that, I seriously looked down on her, to the point that I overlooked her guessing the existence of Azora . waaaa

      1. The int stat maybe similar, but the way they did things are way too different.
Hibiki is…………. spoiled, I guess I can use that word ? When she have a plan she will not allow that plan to go astray, that’s the big difference she had with Zef. Which is natural, she is boosted human with so little experience about politics and wars, while Zef is battle hardened person in every aspect, their heart maturity are simply too different.

      2. yes while the int may similar but i think zef have wisdom far better than hibiki, while makoto have saved hibiki, she still perceive makoto as an enemy because difference on opinion…while on the other hand there is zef that got his strongest fort nuked and his territory stolen can calmly deal with makoto.

        well age matter i guess

  55. Thanks for the chapter! When Makoto mentioned rmoeving the cause of the war, I thought he would mention his plans on removing the Goddess from power, but he mentioned giving them land. Couldn’t this discussion have been much more interesting if he had? I believe it would truly show Zef that Makoto is much, much more powerful than he believes him to be, and make it so that they stop analyzing too deeply into his actions, because he is too powerful and far above them to act like that.

    1. Well no. Even if he could blow the goddess away with a sneeze, the demon race would have to analyze Makoto as a general self-preservation policy.

That’s just sorta how things are with dangerous people. That said, I do wonder what would’ve happened if Makoto brought up his plan to eventually drag the goddess down.

      1. I think the reasons of why Makoto doesn’t say this is because:
-His matter with the goddess is personal, but he has no plan. He wants to evolve as a person and merchant before making a plan and actually execute it, because he’ll likely wait until then before doing anything, since he knows that doing things without thinking about the consequences is a bad idea (He told Hibiki he wants to bring down the Goddess, but never said he will do it soon or anything like that).
-There’s no point to tell Zef that. He went to talk with him because he wanted to know how the demons think about the war, and if they were willing to stop it in certain conditions (same reason of why he didn’t officially gave them the proposal, but asking ”what you will do if there’s that possibility”).

I see this as he wants to grow before making a decision or actually stepping on the war or with the matter of the goddess

    2. Makoto had 2 options in this case to solve the problem. Show the demons Asora and ask that they migrate there or remove the goddess. The latter was already previously discussed and probably cause more troubles than solve but you remove the large cause of the problems in that world and can work to solve the problems freely. The former where he would ask the demons to migrate would prevent further bloodshed and would be best to save lives but leaving the problems are as is in that world. However the large problem with asking the demons to migrate is that they are at this point focused more on revenge rather than ending the war in a truce in which there are multiple reasons why they can’t end it in a truce now if the Goddess is there as said. While there are those that would migrate due to being tired of the war or w/e there would still be a large majority of demons acting on revenge due to years of oppression. It is at this point do or die for them if the goddess problem is not removed and the Hyumans do not make rapid reforms.

    3. Using Zef’s metaphor, I think it would be more along the lines of…

Well, since mommy-bug is on the big brother human’s side, let’s get daddy-Makoto to distract mommy while we stick this sharpened toothbrush into the human’s eye-socket.

In any case, if Makoto really wanted to end the war, he could just announce to the world that they can pick between either pursuing their hatred and try to kill the other side, or living without every single one of their settlements being turned into a lake. I’m sure both sides would shake hands and smile for as long as Makoto is alive. Then it’s just demanding the young as sacrific- education policy for the next generation to break the cycle of hatred. It’ll be like the biggest most powerful demon lord ever oppressing the entire world for peace.

      1. Lol reading your comment and the responses you got made me think about something. If it actually turns out that the bug and makoto end up together (very, very unlikely), maybe for the sake of the world in the beginning but then love sprouting. That would be the biggest plot-twist in this novel.
Imagine the author be like “yeah, see this goddess you all hate? Let me show a bit of a back story and then actually pair her up with our MC. Eh? Makoto and the bu-goddess hate each other? They (will probably) fight? Think of it of one of the biggest marital fight. And then turns out they all loved each other. Eh? What about all the other ships? Makoto doesn’t love her? Have you ever thought why Makoto hasn’t really hated the goddess to the point of wanting to kill her? Or maybe about how Makoto was her husband all along? And was just hidden inside the shell? It was just a prank bro”.
That would probably be funny. (as an April fools joke)
PS: another one would be the original love interest from the beginning of the novel (the one left behind?).

    1. I really like the character setting for Zef, he is the only character in this novel I can acknowledge as great leader.
He is fair, cunning and yet understanding, he not blatantly denied the thought process of Makoto and even readily accept them, compared to Hibiki that took a whole 4 chapter just to finally accept Makoto for what he is (while still relentlessly trying to drag him to her side) I like Zef much much more.
I just hope he can choose the right path and not unlocked the bad ending route.

      1. While that’s true, I’m not too sure about comparing those two. Remember that Hibiki herself is not a leader of a nation. She may lead and inspire people in this war, but if we wanted to compare leaders to Zef, then it should be people like Limia’s king. Unfortunately we have seen too little of him and his thought process to draw conclusions.

I think people like Joshua, Lily and even Hibiki are better compared to the Demon generals instead. They have considerable influence, and have their own schemes in progress, but are still not at the top of the totem pole. They still have to at least appear to be moving in the same general direction as those whom they officially serve.

Hmmm, how does the following analogy work?

Zef is the CEO of Demons Inc., while Hibiki is a middle manager (I think, though not sure how many people actually report to her) of Limia Ltd. She is a very popular manager with employees in general, as well as with some other managers and even some C-level executives, which allows her to act with fewer constraints than other managers, but even so, there are things she doesn’t have the authority to do, as well as things she doesn’t have to worry about.

    1. Stop impersonating others, man.
      šŸ˜‘

Why don’t you take a different identity?
You can be Tractor-chan here if you want. The position is still open.

      Call me.

  56. Thanks for the chapter Reigokai-sama!

And honestly, since both sides of the war are going to continue fighting because they feel the Bug looming over them, Makoto should just tell all of them he’s been training with three, more powerful gods to defeat her and institute a new world order that would help resolve the issues.

    1. But he won’t institute a new world he would just leave them be to sort it out themselves he has already said so

    2. i still dont think its that simple, even if there’s new world order, the hatred still deeply ingrained, they mostly will just still ask Blood of Blood as payment even though there’s another god that issue the new world order

      1. a solution is to separate the old from very young and teach the young and let the hatred die out. A solution in which is only possible if the teachers is no ulterior motive. Impossible in current world as you can’t trust humans even aliens to teach them properly . With Kuzunoha it might be possible.

    1. Makoto knows that he has a shallow way of thinking regarding the war, so that’s why he went to talk with Zef (And ultimately the reason of why he didn’t do his proposition officially). He’s actively trying to learn the ugly world and evolve as a person and merchant (He has the objective to beat down (not necesarily kill) the goddess, but hasn’t done anything yet because he knows is a bad idea to just do it without knowing about the consecuences), but slowly and at his own pace

      1. i’m calling it
the ultimate reason why the goddess drove to hyuman the reason to war against the demon is because the goddess doesn’t want the hyuman to fight against each other
but the goddess actually want it to stalemate the war
if the hyuman lose, the faith for goddess diminish
if the demon lose, the hyuman will fight each other for supremacy
if they have a truce, the hatred will consume each other though i figure, when the latter generation comes those hatred will be gone but it broke goddess authority as the ruler authority though

p.s. though i hate the goddess at the beginning, now i just felt a pity to her after i read makoto’s parent story. it felt like a ruler that tries her best to realize her fashion in a realist way but instead making up more mess the more she tries

    1. You are the creepiest Neptune I ever met, Nepu. That evil looking eyes… that Noh mask-like face… your twisted, uncencored ASCII posts…

      …..

      šŸ˜¶

Will you go out with me?

      1. Wow. Straight on rejection. Hahaha.
I was serious… that hurts more than I expected.

Well, now that I have told you my feelings, I can move on with my life. I didn’t expect you to answer, just telling you that because I might not have chance to say it after this. Don’t feel burdened by it.
        Good luck.

    2. can u help me find a novel please? if i remember correctly, it was about a class transfer to another world. The MC is a handsome guy and they call him Doll Prince because of his non-emotional face. I think he didnā€™t receive a power or maybe got a weak power in the transfer thatā€™s why he was shunned by the Royalty and Nobles. Somewhere in the early chapters, he met a woman adventurer with blonde hair. canā€™t remember the title. please help almighty GM_Rusaku with ur lovable Nepu nepu nep! !

  57. Reigokai i Love You, GRACIAS POR LA TRADUCCIƓN Y EL TRABAJO !!!!!

Thanks to the people for supporting Reigokai with their donations !!
Gracias a las personas que donan a Reigokai !!

  58. Haa, if Sari did make any moves on Makato, or even tried to kiss him, then Mio and Tomoe would REK her and would most likely be extremely mad at Makato.

PS: I’m waiting to see the chapter where Makato either realizes or starts to feel something for Tomoe and Mio, as girls not as family.

    1. who’s extremely mad at makoto ? Tomoe and Mio ? if that happen Sari probably getting disposed by Mio while they both then tried to rape Makoto because he got kissed (if that happen) by Sari as payback

      1. What would they do? Do what Koharu have done in Koharu no Hibi. Her love interest ex girlfriend is his first kiss so she take it back by deep kissing her.

    2. PS: Iā€™m waiting to see the chapter where Makato either realizes or starts to feel something for Tomoe and Mio, as girls not as family.

I can’t really see Tomoe and Makoto forming a romantic partnership. What seems to turn him off about hyumans is their tricksy, manipulative bullshit, and quite honestly, Tomoe is as tricksy and manipulative as they come, second only to Root. She’s just better at it that most. She definitely has Makoto’s best interests at heart, and really does love him, but as long as she’s playing 11-dimensional chess with him he’s unlikely to to fall for her romantically. He’s unlikely to fall for Sari or Lily or Rona for the same reason, and he has already admitted his compatibility with Hibiki is poor.

So, who’s left? The Rembrandt sister are, probably, a little too hyuman for him (they grew up in a loving family and likely have an understanding of the concept of a loving family, but are still a bit cold-blooded for him), Eva doesn’t seem interested, and Toa seems to have been written out.

      Which leaves –

      – Mio. She HAD him, but chickened out! He’s a teenage boy, Mio, his heart will follow his body, not vice versa! She’s honest and straightforward with him in a very non-hyuman way which is a big plus. Her sexual preferences would take some time for him to become comfortable with, but hey, getting to know each others preferences is actually part of the fun.

      – Chiya. She hates him at the moment, but in their short time together he was impressed with her honesty and directness. She’s in the odd position of being a true, honest priestess of a false god, and I think Makoto could use spiritual counsel from somebody like her. Could something more come of such a relationship?

      – Eris. A bit of a dark horse but as honest and non-hyuman as they come. Anybody else think Makoto is just a bit tsundere about her, and vice versa?

      – Levi? (Too recent an addition.) Ema? Ruria? Anybody else?

      1. Makotwo apparently fell for Lily in another time though. He didn’t seem to really like manipulation either, but my impression was that he saw something pitiful in her insanity and wanted to help her.

I’m on the Mio train myself, she did kind of dash her own chances. If Makoto ever manages to go home, his interactions with those two club mates could be fun.

And yeah, I also kinda felt Makoto and Chiya’s interactions. It was a super pleasant discussion(maybe not for Chiya, but who cares about her, right?).

      2. With regard to Tomoe, I think it could happen, after all there was that dream sequence where they kissed after all.

All the author would have to do is write something along the lines of “(After that dream I guess I unconsciously started to think of her more as a woman than a family member)” and that would fit the narrative and Makoto’s personality.

Either way I’m thinking/hoping it will end up with both Tomoe and Mio

      3. Just give the man a harem, plus he is searching for a way to travel in between both the worlds and asora, so include the club captain and hasegawa too.

      4. I don’t think that Rembrandt sisters are out of race yet, though you have a point there.
Honestly, they are second ship I’ll bet on after Mio, and followed by Tomoe as I think he would understand and forgive her, if he know, which isn’t yet.

But one thing I’m sure about is that, whoever she is, she must got approved by Mio first or she will went AWOT-Away WithOut Trace.

    3. Well to be honest here. All of us are waiting for that moment to be realized. Well I think its still far. Remember the Gorgons? The time they migrated there was a part that said that if something happens makoto would just get his deserts. Whih is not the whole quote but its possible it would happen. Wish it would in the next few chapters though. Then i would be satisfied.

    1. Something tells me that those 10 are only the leaders. How many others (servants, family, friends, etc) come along with those 10? I got the impression it would be a small group, like say 100-150 individuals with those 10 as the head of the group. I have no proof, just the impression I got. Not to mention, I can’t believe Zef would waste 10 seconds on just 10 people unless they are of such prominence that he can’t move against them as he pleases, in which case he would most likely kill them as quick as possible to remove them as a threat.

      1. I think what Zef’s secretly trying to do is preserve a little sample of the demon race, actually.

These 10 are people that are peaceful, and thus, can presumably get along with Makoto. They’ll bring like-minded demon servants with them, and it’s as if Makoto’s Asora selection process is being done for him.

That way, if the demons do lose and are driven to extinction, as a ruler Zef can at least comfort himself with the idea that there will be survivors under the protection of someone remarkable.

        1. I like that. As the wise and responsible ruler Zef appears to be, it would make sense for him to start considering a ‘Noah’s Ark’ project when the goddess awoke and the war started going south on them.

  59. Gotta say, I do like how the author addresses the same topics we argue over.

In this particular instance, how the Demons would not accept moving to Asora and ending the war that way.

    1. Well, Zef already said that their objective has changed towards revenge when he spoke to Makoto before and that it was the will of his people, so the migration thing was never going to work.

We also got to know from Zef that the Slavery method that Hibiki thought of isn’t going to work either.

Thanks for the chapter Rei-san šŸ˜€

    2. It’s a really nice, if odd, feeling to see our discussions given life.

I think the commenters deserve at least some credit. The author’s been dropping hints here and there about people’s views, experiences, etc. and when we debate, the really dedicated readers pick out the exact details so that they’re all constantly fresh in our minds.

I can’t speak for certain, but I have a feeling that reading this whole story alone without comments would make story transitions slightly more erratic-feeling.

    3. well…. it make us kind like of Makoto’s Gods Fanclub since we discussing about what kind of method and way Makoto will try to forge in his life , also discused about what kind of future will happen based on the path he forge, giving our comment about his previous action by the plus and minus, etc :3
