“I understand… Makoto-kun pushed away my serious emotions of the several millions of lives that I have been entrusted with. From what I was shown, I felt like he was a lot more scary than that Goddess.” (Hibiki)

After Makoto left from the passage, Hibiki was left alone.

A self-depreciating mutter came from her mouth.

“I am seriously the type that stumbles when it counts the most.” (Hibiki)

The fight with Io.

Remembering the invitations she did to Mio and Lime, Hibiki makes a wry smile.

She felt as if the important things were slipping from her hands, an irritating feeling.

The wind passes in between the fingers of her opened hand.

She felt as if it was a feeling similar to this.

Her self-depreciation continued.

“If we lose to the demon race, that’s the end; if we lose in the war against Tomoki, it will be the end as well; and if Makoto-kun goes haywire, it will be the end too huh. What an incredible situation. The last one has a narrow chance of hope though. A world without the Goddess huh… Thinking about the current state, it will most definitely become a warring era with the flood of the small countries, so it wouldn’t change the fact that it will be despairing.” (Hibiki)

A disastrous image appears in the mind of Hibiki, and disappears.

Winning against the demon race, shutting the Empire, and on top of that, restrain Makoto with something aside from power.

After doing all that would Hibiki finally be able to begin with her objective.

Just like what she said about it being an incredible situation, it is practically close to impossible.

Even so, Hibiki can’t just withdraw.

“Even so, I have to do my best till the end. Believing in me, many have died. For the sake of my objective, I have killed many. There’s also people like Naval that have sacrificed themselves. I can’t give up. I have to struggle.” (Hibiki)

As an awakened one from the world transfers, she has obtained the ability to change the conception of others into power.

Because of that point as well, she is aware of the innumerable cord-like feelings that have been placed on her.

The lives that have been entrusted to her, and the lives she has taken away; while having those in mind, Hibiki fights.

Hibiki felt that she has the obligation to do her best until the last moment of her life.

That’s why she can’t just push them aside.

Even if the other party is someone with power that can easily cut apart those feelings.

“Seriously…being a hero is quite the worthwhile position.” (Hibiki)

For Hibiki, the Goddess is the person that has provided her with this environment.

That’s why Hibiki feels a set amount of gratitude towards her.

But that’s all there’s  to it.

Hibiki’s impresion of her was like that of the first person that had found her.

Sadly to say, she is a type that is hard to respect as a superior, and there’s several problems with her as well.

But as a numerical value, she provides benefits, so it is someone that can’t be cut off and there’s no choice but to just accept it.

It is something like that.

Thinking until there, Hibiki sighs.

“Hah…If I could change the religion I am shouldering, I think it would be easier to have Makoto-kun instead of the Goddess. Even if he were to be treated as a God, by using the front of worshipping, it can be hidden in many ways. But even when he said such outrageous things, the only strong reactions I got from him were with the Goddess, and…his discrimination towards hyumans. He doesn’t have a purpose. That boy doesn’t even have the intention of founding a nation. If he at least had something like that…” (Hibiki)

Hibiki could tell that the options for the future would increase a lot.

If Makoto were to become a king, if he were to announce that he would be founding a nation, the hyumans and demons wouldn’t be able to ignore it.

Because it would be a big problem that would force them to even stagnate this hatred-filled war in order to deal with it.

Anyone that has seen his power would be able to tell.

Because it would mean that a country that surpasses all the currently existing countries in military power will be born all of a sudden.

At the very least, in the time that Makoto and his close aides are alive, they wouldn’t be able to enter a full-out war without that country, is what Hibiki thought.

“He doesn’t have the intentions to become a king or a God either. Because of that, his inability for authority is unconsciously showing, and thinks that the Goddess is an enemy of equal ground. I seriously don’t understand him…” (Hibiki)

Hibiki’s waist falls to the ground.

Hibiki sits in the cold corridor.

“My legs gave out…but that’s a given, right? If I made a mistake, I might have ended up dead cold right now at this place. Not only my spirit, even my body was enduring the fear huh.” (Hibiki)

An absolute strength.

Currently for Hibiki, that’s exactly what Misumi Makoto is.

The moment those straining feelings loosened, Hibiki’s body reminded her that.

What she wanted to ask, her invitation, and also, the confrontation she feared.

For Hibiki, the conversation just now was something she challenged with the feelings of standing on thin ice.

(He is already not in a dimension where I can think of him in human standards. Earthquake, tsunami, eruption, tornado…he is close to those. Fighting against him is not that realistic, but…as long as it is someone that moves with a will, I can’t ignore it. Seriously, he has become quite the monster.) (Hibiki)

Hibiki then notices.

That within herself, two things began to bother her.

The first one is something that she had already expected.

They were her own emotions after all.

(Then why I don’t obey him? If it’s just in military power, he surpasses that of a country; a monster in the skin of a human. No matter what Limia tries to do, they probably wouldn’t be able to beat him. Then there should be no other choice but to curry his favor, and yet…) (Hibiki)

The lights of the land near the castle she was looking at were few, and as she saw them grow sparse, Hibiki sunk into silence.

(…I see. It is hatred. I can’t forgive the demon race. They have burned many villages, killed many hyumans, and also my comrade…Naval as well. Ah, maybe that’s why.) (Hibiki)

Hibiki nodded a few times.

Facing your own emotions and controlling them.

It is something important, but difficult to do.

When those emotions turn so natural that they seemer deep into yourself, it becomes even harder to do.

Overcoming the death of a comrade is also a different matter.

Hibiki finally understood why she didn’t choose to completely curry favor on Makoto.

(Of course, I have killed many of them as well. Within them, there should have been people with comrades, family, and lovers. Even so, I hate the demon race. I see…so this is how it feels to be a concerned party. Is the hatred of war something so troublesome?) (Hibiki)

Hibiki was surprised that within her deepest self, hatred towards the demon race had piled up.

It is true that the demon race is the enemy, and there’s no doubt that they are a hateful enemy, but she didn’t know that it was binding her this much.

Since she thought she had it somewhat under control, this was shocking.

(To curry the favor of Makoto-kun, I would have to affirm his ideals even if it is only on the outside. In other words, it would become hard to continue the war. That’s why I…) (Hibiki)

In other words, she wished for the continuation of the war.

With her hand covering her mouth, Hibiki’s pair of eyes opened wide.

(That’s why I can’t. I want to bring down my enemy. That’s right. Until I kill Io, I…) (Hibiki)

Thinking about the reason why she wanted the war to continue, she reached an answer.

In the end, it was an incredibly personal reason, and Hibiki was amazed of herself.

Even though it was not funny at all, she felt a laugh coming out from within her throat.

After a while, the laughing stopped, but Hibiki didn’t stand up and was sitting just like that.

She was thinking about the other thing that was bothering her.

(I…what did I feel a sense of discomfort in? The moment I thought of Makoto-kun as a monster, I certainly felt it… Right, ‘refuge’! He said that when the world goes into chaos and turns into an End of the Century era, they could just go take refuge for a while. Why is there a need to take refuge? There’s no doubt that the world will fall into great chaos if the Goddess is defeated. But it is not a situation where individuals with power or organizations would take refuge. If it’s the Kuzunoha Company, it is realistically possible to even be able to become the number one company. But he said that he would be taking refuge.) (Hibiki)

That word coming from someone strong made Hibiki feel a sense of discomfort.

(Just that, when it comes from the mouth of Makoto, it doesn’t feel that strange. Refuge huh. A safe place. In other words, he has a place where no matter if the world has fallen into chaos, he is able to secure safety. That wouldn’t be his store. In the variant incident at Rotsgard, the Kuzunoha Company’s store was destroyed. Also, Rotsgard and Tsige won’t be spared from the chaos.) (Hibiki)

Hibiki lists out the places where Makoto has connections with.

Because she wanted to grasp even if a little bit more information of Makoto and his tendencies.

(! There is. The place that he arrived in when he came to this world. The border of the world. If he has a base in the deepest parts of that wasteland, it would signify that it is safe. They would be able to cut themselves away and live peacefully for years. For him who doesn’t think about calming the chaos himself, it is plenty possible.) (Hibiki)

She digs out the memory she had of Tsige where she went to train temporarily in.

She tries to remember as many stories of bases in the wasteland as possible.

And then, she arrives at one answer.

In the first place, those kind of talks are rare, and by elimination process, it was plenty possible to arrive at ‘that’ place.

“…The Mirage Town. I don’t want to think it is possible, but could it be, that’s the base of Makoto-kun -of the Kuzunoha Company?” (Hibiki)

A Mirage Town that a few number in Tsige have heard of.

In the end, Hibiki returned to Limia without going to that town.

But the more she thought about it, the closer she felt the relation between Kuzunoha Company and that Mirage Town.

“A mirage town located somewhere in the wasteland. If that’s his base, his first store being in Tsige begins to look like a splendid decoy. The wasteland is his base and has set up a store at Tsige. That’s right, if he already had a base by the time he left the wasteland and entered Tsige…” (Hibiki)

Hibiki noticed one other scary thing.

Her words stop unconsciously.

(For a base, the wasteland is just far. WAY too far! A base needs to be in a place where one can return in a short amount of time. His Majesty and prince Joshua said this when they returned from Rotsgard, that they have broken the long distance teleportation that the Kuzunoha Company was relying on… That’s a lie. It hasn’t been broken. They don’t use the merchant transportation method to ‘return’, they have in their hands a stable long-distance teleportation. Because they are able to take refuge after all.) (Hibiki)

Hibiki doesn’t know of Asora.

She does know that there’s a mirage town somewhere in the vast border of the world.

It would be impossible for her to be able to predict a parallel space, so even if it’s not a perfect correct answer, it was a guess that was close to what Makoto’s base is.

(If he is able to do business in this world while ignoring distance completely, it would be logical how he is able to have a store and has allowance to do peddling around the whole world. Yeah. Kuzunoha Company is like the Goddess, if I were to consider them an existence living on a different plane altogether… They declared that they didn’t have interest in the war, so there’s many ways to deal with this.) (Hibiki)

Hibiki thinks about how she will be interacting with the Kuzunoha Company.

At the same time, she was estimating the way to progress in the war with the demon race.

(It is slightly different from the request of Waterfall, but if I have Makoto-kun compromise that he won’t be destroying the world, it is still salvageable. If we are able to bring the advantages of Kuzunoha Company and him to the hyumans…next, as long as the demon race does a big move in the time that the Goddess is still okay, there’s the chance that it will turn advantageous for us. But well, the demon race is also hostile to the Goddess, so there’s not much for me to worry about in this part huh.)

Hibiki stands up.

She walks towards the opposite direction of the passage that Makoto walked away in.

Even when she knew Kuzunoha Company’s power to a certain degree, her eyes didn’t show the light of giving up, it reflected strength.

Makoto and Hibiki’s conversation, and Hibiki’s monologue. That one act had ended.

At one of the castle’s spires pretty far away from the passage, one shadow was sitting there.

It is the roof portion of the spire that shouldn’t have people to begin with.

The girl that was eavesdropping at the whole conversation of Makoto and Hibiki, first smiled with her mouth, and it spread all the way to her eyes.

“Ufufufu, a breakdown. That’s a given-desu. Waka-sama and Hibiki’s way of thinking about the current state was simply coincidentally similar after all. It has gone well.”

Makoto’s follower, Mio.

Mio had created a flow where it would lead to Makoto and Hibiki’s conversation, and induced it.

But she didn’t manipulate the result, and didn’t interfere in it either.

Mio was able to read to a certain degree what was going to happen if they were to clash their opinions.

“When I heard Tomoe-san’s assessment of Hibiki, it came to me. That it would be fine; that Waka-sama and her are not compatible. It is Hibiki who doesn’t know of what’s beneath, and Waka-sama who, in a sense, only looks from beneath. It was an obvious result-desu.” (Mio)

The assessment Mio heard from Tomoe.

It is something that even now Hibiki isn’t aware of, a subconscious part.

From what Tomoe said: Hibiki doesn’t know of the standing of the weak.

What Tomoe said of Hibiki was that: ‘She doesn’t understand the standing of the absolute weak. Because that girl believes that if they do their best, they will be able to bring about results-ja. No matter how they struggle it will be for naught, she doesn’t know that there are people that can only be weak. Well, she herself can do anything she tries to do, so since she is young, thinking that way can’t be helped~’.

And in truth, that’s what Hibiki thinks.

If you try till death, people will be able to bring about some results.

Of course, there’s many people in reality that can bring about ‘some’ results, but in society, there’s also a part that can’t do anything no matter what they try.

Not only the environment and the talent, there’s also cases where there’s external pressure they can’t go against.

But Hibiki, who clearly has not been a concerned party of these cases and even in Earth was born in a blessed household in Japan and with high talent, speaking about how much she understands of the current state, just like how Tomoe said, it is a part that can’t be helped.

On the other hand, Makoto doesn’t hold the point of view of a strong one.

Even in the parts of position and responsibility, he doesn’t understand in what stage he should be standing in.

Without any jokes and exaggeration, a responsibility that fits the strength of Makoto would be to act while thinking about the whole world in itself.

“It is because the more she learns, the more she doesn’t understand. That’s why, Hibiki is cautious towards Waka-sama. And so, because she is unable to bring him in, what they are trying to do is to exclude Waka-sama as much as possible from the war. But Waka-sama won’t consent.” (Mio)

Mio was laughing in a truly gleeful manner.

The figure of Mio laughing simple-mindedly below the moonlight felt like it had madness drifting about, and a dangerous beauty.

“That’s because Waka-sama doesn’t care if it’s hyuman of demi-human after all. He would help out the demi-humans that are troubled, but that’s all. What’s important for that personage is his own circle. And from the hyumans that I have seen, there was an abundance of idiots, so his preference turned into demi-humans, that’s all. It is so simple, and yet…everyone can’t understand it. That’s just strange-desu wa.” (Mio)

Mio looks at the true character of Makoto in that way.

That’s correct.

That’s why Makoto is still involving himself with hyumans, and at the same time, he has turned into a point where he can’t hold a wider field of vision no matter how much time passes.

“It is impossible to not get involved in the war. If there’s people troubled coming from it, Waka-sama will act. There’s no way he would think about what would happen in the future or the troublesome things that might come. There’s no need to match the pace of Hibiki who only thinks about big things like the future, the world. In the first place, that’s all empty dreams. Waka-sama most likely noticed it with this. To begin with, future things should be thought by the people of the future-desu wa. No matter what Waka-sama who lives in the present does, no matter what happens to the world because of it, it is simply an unavoidable destiny for the people that will be born later.” (Mio)

She once again voices out an unreasonable logic.

But Mio originally doesn’t care for anyone other than Makoto.

That’s why, for her. what makes Makoto happy is the correct thing to do.

If the noise is getting unbearable and her master is troubled, she wants to remove the seed of that distress.

The actions of Mio this time, were simply because of that.

Just that, Makoto takes in mind his surroundings way too much, to the point of overdoing it.

That’s why Mio moved slightly indirectly.

“The hyumans, the demons, and that one above, are really annoying. Waka-sama is saying that he doesn’t have any interest, so you should just go kill among yourselves as much as you want in a place that Waka-sama’s eyes don’t reach-desu. Seriously.” (Mio)

Mio disappearing from the spire, and those words, were done at almost the same time.

“Eh? Isn’t that Priestess-san -ah no, Priestess-sama?”

“…”

Before arriving at my room, I encountered an unexpected person.

One member of Senpai’s party, the priestess of Lorel. If I remember correctly…her name was Chiya.

She looks like she is the same age as Rinon, so she is probably 12-13.

Even though it is already pretty late in the night, she was standing there as if lying in wait for me.

Her attire is also probably not the one she uses when going to sleep.

“Ehm…do you have business with me?” (Makoto)

She maintained her silence, but I ask her who has been staring at me all this time.

“I am the priestess of Lorel, my name is Chiya. First of all, I want to apologize for my impoliteness. I am very sorry.” (Chiya)

She lowers her head deeply.

The 90° type, the one that bends the body a lot.

“You suddenly collapsed, so please don’t mind it too much. I have heard a bit of the circumstances after all. Uhm, I would be happy if you were to tell me what you can about what you saw though.” (Makoto)

“It is not only for the matter of me collapsing. In the time of the dinner, I was unable to take part in it, not even once.” (Chiya)

“Your physical condition was not good, so it didn’t affect my mood. It is something that can’t be helped.” (Makoto)

It is true that in the dinners, I was together with Senpai and prince Joshua a lot, but I haven’t been together with the priestess once.

In one instance, there was clearly a seat prepared for her and even the meal was prepared, and yet, she didn’t come.

At that time, it was a probably a ‘maybe’ case, but if her condition is not good, there should be no responsibility taken in not being able to attend to a dinner. Even when she is this young, she is quite the level-headed girl.

“Thank you very much. My impoliteness can be taken as the impoliteness of Lorel, so it is great that you say that.” (Chiya)

But she is so stiff.

It is not an atmosphere fitting her age.

This is not something that requires an apology, but it is certainly true that what she saw interests me.

About what she saw that could make a girl like this lose herself and faint.

“…”

That’s why I stay silent and wait for her next words.

“I rudely tried to peek into the true nature of you and your Kuzunoha Company’s entourage. Even if it’s my power as a priestess, it is an action that wouldn’t be helped if you were to scorn me. If you so wish to, it might be my duty to give you the answer of that result.” (Chiya)

“No well, I don’t really scorn you or anything…” (Makoto)

In the first place, it is something that Senpai made you do.

Also, if a girl of her age were to get the power to see inside others, I don’t think it would be strange to want to use it.

Well, the Priestess-san doesn’t fit that much into the kids of her age though.

“What I saw in Lime was a gentle large tree. Lush leaves wet in rain were glittering, and…maybe it was making it its dwelling? The young figure of a dragon was visible. I don’t know if it’s a hint to something, but I felt like he was a likeable person. That’s how I viewed it.” (Chiya)

A gentle large tree.

And a young dragon huh.

I see.

So it is true that she can see things only she can.

But it comprises many truths. There’s a high chance that it truly touches their essence.

“Mio-san was…a big black spider. The Calamity Spider. Around its neck there was a big choker, and that spider looked like it was lovingly caring for that choker that had a chain attached to it.” (Chiya)

So it saw through Mio’s true identity perfectly huh.

But a choker…

That’s probably hinting at the pact.

In that case…this girl saw that chain connected to me?

“Yeah. There’s a lot regarding Mio. As you can see, she is no longer the rampaging monster with no sense of sanity. In most cases, she is safer than in the past so…” (Makoto)

“…No matter if I make a racket about it, I have already reached the conclusion that the situation won’t change for the better anyways. Please don’t mind it.” (Chiya)

“I see…that’s great.” (Makoto)

“And, you were…a pure white hyuman-shaped form with no features.” (Chiya)

Something like a white doll?

No, I don’t think that’s all there’s to it.

It is not something to collapse for.

“A white hyuman shape with no facial features huh. Once again, I don’t know what it means.” (Makoto)

“Sorry. I have awakened this power just recently, so I still can’t accurately grasp the meaning of the things that I see.” (Chiya)

“No, I wasn’t blaming you.” (Makoto)

“Just that, that white hyuman shape had a crack. A small crack.” (Chiya)

“A crack?” (Makoto)

“At that part…… Sorry. At that part, in my eyes, it looked like…there was something incredibly repulsive dwelling there.” (Chiya)

Repulsive is quite the word.

Leaving aside my outward appearance, is this the route where it is telling me that even my true nature is ugly?

Something like this really depresses me.

“Was it something so repulsive that it made you collapse?” (Makoto)

“I don’t know. I didn’t looking straight at it for long after all.” (Chiya)

“I see…” (Makoto)

“…”

“…”

“Please! There’s probably nothing I can do, but…! Please…don’t bring that ‘thing’ outside! If you call yourself a merchant, please!!” (Chiya)

“Uo, ehm, please calm down a bit.” (Makoto)

When I thought there was a short silence, the Priestess-san draws closer as if she had lost it.

Moreover, what she asked me to do is something I have no way of doing anything about.

In the first place, what is ‘that’?

Something that not even I know myself, there’s no way I would be able to control if it comes out or not, you know?

While trying to somehow calm the Priestess-san, I was troubled by the request that I was unable to nod at.

The Priestess-san that had returned to herself, was heaving with her shoulders going up and down while having a tension-filled face. Because of the same reason, her whole body was still stiff.

“I-I am very sorry.” (Chiya)

“Uhm, I don’t understand it well, but I will do my best, so it would be better if you didn’t pay much mind to it. You might have seen something dangerous, but it seems like it isn’t showing you the future or anything like that.” (Makoto)

“I heard this from Onee— I mean, Hibiki-sama, but she said that you don’t hold a religious belief towards the Goddess? Ah, it is not like I am condemning you. For the sake of future reference, can I hear about what you rely on, whether it be in the Spirit-samas or in the studies, and the teachings and thoughts you hold?” (Chiya)

“Hah? The teachings and thoughts?” (Makoto)

“Yes. The teachings of the Goddess, the teachings of the four elemental Spirits that are born from those, and the truth that a number of scholars have arrived at in their studies. Those kind of things.” (Chiya)

“…I don’t have those. I don’t have much interest in religion, even so, if told that science is everything, I also think that’s not the case. What I rely on huh. Hmm….” (Makoto)

“…”

The Priestess-san looks at me and was dumbfounded.

Maybe she thought she would get some sort of thoughts of mine immediately.

That’s just unreasonable.

“Well, I do have experience in an art called archery that has created some rules inside myself. Are you fine with that?” (Makoto)

“Please let me hear them.” (Chiya)

“It is not something complicated or anything like that. It is to do what you have decided to do with your own power. It is something that you have decided to do, so don’t rely on someone else, and adhere to it with your own discipline. It is quite vague in many points, but it is something like that. But in truth, there’s only one thing that I have decided myself to do though.” (Makoto)

“What would that be?” (Chiya)

Maybe she is used to listening to the talk of others, it feels like this Priestess-san is easy to speak with.

…One of the reasons might be because she is a kid though.

“To continue with the bow. In the future, no matter what path I take, no matter what employment I have, no matter what place I end up living in, I have decided to continue with the bow for the rest of my life. That’s all there is.” (Makoto)

“…I see. To continue doing something, no matter what it is, it will require strong will. It may be difficult, but I think it is a splendid thought.” (Chiya)

“Thanks. I feel like I am being comforted though.” (Makoto)

When you decide you will do it, you will definitely do it…” (Chiya)

“Priestess-sama? By the way, how are you feeling? If you are still not feeling well, I can provide you with medicine just in case.” (Makoto)

“Wah? ah…I-It’s okay.” (Chiya)

“I see. In that case, it is already late, so how about returning to your room? If you need to, I can accompany you partway.” (Makoto)

“I will return by myself. I am grateful for your consideration. Sorry for intruding so late in the night. Have a good night.” (Chiya)

“Good night.” (Makoto)

How old was the girl I was talking to?

That’s the kind of impression I had remaining even now.

“Ah, Boss. Welcome back. The priestess was here a while ago, you know. Didn’t you meet her on the way?” (Lime)

“Yeah, I did. That girl, she came alone to this room huh.” (Makoto)

“Yeh, she said she wanted to apologize to Boss. I told her that you are not someone who would mind that, and that I would tell you when you come back, so she should return and sleep, but she didn’t listen.” (Lime)

“I see. Well, the talk felt similar to that, Gentle Large Tree-san.” (Makoto)

“Hah?” (Lime)

“The white featureless one will go to sleep now. Good night.” (Makoto)

“Okay…Good night, Boss.” (Lime)

The day of leaving Limia is close.

The home of Hibiki-senpai, the Limia Kingdom.

I did think that it was somewhat comfortable, but…it became a lot more tiresome visit than I expected.

I don’t have the power to think about the future of the country and the world in whole like Senpai does.

I can’t even understand individuals well, so there’s no way I would be able to understand hundreds of wills, and the country that is like the crystallization of the race’s will.

The Demon Lord, Senpai, and the Kings of each nation probably understand those things though.

But I who can’t even grasp the circumstances and tendencies of my company employees, this is just a heavy talk.

I can’t do it, but I should at least make an effort huh.

I should try to pursue what I can do.

When I return to Asora, I should try speaking with Tomoe and Shiki about it. Ah, when I return, I should show myself in Kaleneon.

….After that, a small talk with Zef…

Because I was doing some thinking, or more like, a lot happened and it is already this late of an hour, my thoughts were cut off in the middle.

Drowsiness is the best.

  1. Well we can already tell just by what she said that hibiki is on a war path. Especially when she was talking about find the mirage town, following a slightly different path than waterfall said, and making Makito compromise. It is pretty obvious she will target Ausra and attempt to use it as a hostage to control maketo.

    Seriously she’s the worst.

Just like one of those stereotypical antagonists that threaten to kill the people they care about to control them

    Just use the microwave already!

    1. well if she manage to find and try to use Asora, she will be held prisoner there since the only people that can open the portal are Makoto and his follower + Komoe (since she created from Tomoe but with a core of Makoto draupnir)

    2. If she does go that route and actually find Mirage Town, she will be in for a surprise. Mirage Town is a tiny section of Asora made so the Asoran can contain any hostility from outsiders. I bet there’s multiple ways to neutralize hostiles in that town, and even if Hibiki somehow got out of the town into the greater Asora. She would find her self and her party, if she brought them, surrounded by over powered demi humans and animals. A force that could take on a demon army several times their size.

      1. Not to mention that cool Neptune that can stop a volcano.
Asora firepower for defensive battle has gone through the roof, they unintentionally gathering more and more LuBu-like firepower each day.
Anyway I really confused about the like Asora Beast king, They are something that created because Asora right ? How come they did not know who their master is ?

        1. Like the Wolf King?
I think they just came into existence, either without knowledge on who created them, or they know, but don’t automatically worship him (he have to show them if he’s worthy if their respect).

      2. @Jinsan

I think they know who, thats why they kept on calling makoto the king in Asora, though Makoto himself doesnt like it

      3. But maybe their concept of thinking is like Makoto that made their own independence like ways and just like what happened to the antonio’s, if someone’s hostile, they’re dead

  2. So much undeserved hatred for Hibiki. Are you guys really reading the same story as I am?

Hibiki just reflected on her mistakes… Stop being so biased to Makoto’s point of view.
So far, Tomoki is the only one who deserves that hatred, of all characters involved with that goddess.
Even the goddess herself doesn’t deserve all the hatred you guys direct at her. You guys have seen her yourselves, the goddess is a naive spoiled brat that just got a dream job but has yet to have people correcting her for her mistakes, She needs a reprieval? yes. But to kill her? To compare her with the Bitcdh goddess from Shield Hero? The one who was evil because she enjoyed making other’s lives miserable and consuming worlds.

Put yourselves in Hibiki’s position, she’s been living in a country that was almost destroyed 2 times already, she got friends there, and chose that country as her second home. She’s not just a teenager called by the goddess, like other heroes.
She wants to live the rest of her life there, and contribute to the history of that country, she’s already an inhabitant of that world. That’s why her point of view is somewhat biased, because she’s trying to be a respoinsible person.
Makoto however, has been trying to stay as a mere visitor, he doesn’t intend to live in that world, so he couldn’t care less about what happens. At the same time, he doesn’t want to get him involved with that world negatively, so he tries to help on the side.

Are ou really saying that it is wrong for Hibiki to do whatever possible to protect her new home, because “scheming is wrong”?
Then by all means point your hatred to every chieftain, president, emperor or king in the long history of mankind.

She’s not an unninvolved person here, she also not just a hero, she wants to change that country for the better an ensure they live in prosperity, in the future. She has finally noticed that somewhere inside her, her motivations were small, petty. That they were similar to things she didn’t like, and wanted to change. She even mocked herself laughing at the whole situation.
It takes a good person to reflect on their mistakes like she just did. Yes, her views are wrong, but that’s because she has never had an oportunity to see things from another angle.

However, can you say that you treat rich or strong people fairly? Most of the people can’t, i’m already tired of seeing people bash successful people for their problems, Instead of reflecting about what is the real cause of their unhappiness. It’s the same thing for both the strong and the weak.

    1. The one I irked about Hibiki is, she KNOWS she is wrong, yet decided to push through, admitting and reflecting are different thing.
She may admit her mistakes, but she not even a bit reflecting on it, leave aside correcting it.

And yes, scheming is not wrong, it’s a good thing in fact, but man…… enslaving, is another thing.that may I remind you that enslaving part is already on her agenda, even when it’s inevitable thing, she decided that it was the right course to take, heck even while she don’t have that much power, the voice of hero must means something to people, if she even care about other race and not blinded by rage she will offer a counter proposal to makoto along the lines “I will do everything in my power to prevent the worst to happens”

But let’s face it, this is the role the author give to Hibiki, she’s a perfect example of knight of templar of the past, blinded by their own beliefs and ignoring everything else.

Of course she not uninvolved people, she’s a damn Hero, so please act like one. I think the war itself are progressing too fast, Hibiki should turn 18 by now, that’s where our emotions are the most unstable, and given the fact she already tainted in the flames of war, I guess it’s not strange for her to have biased view of how things going.

I think the author is splendidly putting things into place, two tainted soul from our world and one pure ones, we ended up comparing them.

And no I don’t really hate Hibiki, if I should say it I kinda pity her, but that’s why I love this LN, I cannot wait to see how things will roll in the future.

    2. she know her mistake but reflecting to her mistake ? IMHO i dont think so since she doesnt do anything to fix her mistake, most of us mostly bashing about how she just nontchalanly call the Demons as ‘Terrorist’ just because they’re the oppresed in this race war, that she think the demon should just zip-it and die a dog death or become a slave just because they’re the minority.
She never know how it feel to be the bottom feeder since she always the ‘thoroughbreed’ since birth. When she got rejected by Mio and Lime she feel kinda envious because she cant have the things she wants
And also makoto not really want to kill the Bug, he mostly only want to drag the Bug down to at least make her know her own mistake to the world in which she discriminate the demons just because they’re not beautiful enough in her standart.
well that just my honest though and opinion

    3. More than hatred, I just don’t have compassion for someone who almost died 2 times and still dares to treat it like a game or some kind of challenge. she is a lost case, a fool worth of pity at best.
Also, she is complete twisted, hoping she does not get along brother bredda (tyrant queen).

I understand your point, but even it’s difficult to accept because she only values her party member. Other peoples are just numbers, a game, with a twisted value aggregate that even worth her life, she has more than a few screw loose.

I don’t blame all problems on her, like your analogy. But doesn’t matter who “the end doesn’t justify the means”. it’s not just scheming, killing children, elder, innocent (remember her wish for Makoto death only because of Mio’s power in Rotsgard), bribe, blackmail, there is a lot of bad things. This kind of logic makes even Hitler a good person (technology advanced), well I exaggerate a little.

    4. Other heroes?
Firstly, there is only Tomoki… Makoto is not a hero.
Secondly, what makes you think makoto does not want any connection to this world. He just don’t think that he is capable of shouldering such responsibility and authority since he knew he felt that abit good-of-nothing. We, readers, felt that he shld man up because he has that STRENGTH… But, strength is not what make ppl capable… If any, it must coupled with strong mentality to make one capable n responsible.
Beside, if makoto wants nothing to do with the world, he can just hole up in asora without going to rostgard, need not learn abt the world and do business with everyone. He just don’t feel he is capable of being responsible to the world if he drag the goddess down.
In the first place, he grew up without the help of god… So, he will not understand the gravity shld the world lose its only god (neither will i) . This is why, he feels like asking tomoe and shiki opinion more.

Yes, i agree it is a virtue shld one be aware of her own fault.
But she is not totally convinced it is a fault…
Did she intend to stop her DISCRIMINATION against the weak (demon)?
No, she didnt. She don’t even doubt her stand. She is only aware of her hatred towards demons, based on this chapter.

She did not have the opportunity? I mean seriously, she is in that world for a year and she had no opportunity? That’s like saying she don’t have captives of demon race, since she killed them all without talking to them. By the way, that is not what a responsible person would do to begin with. A responsible person in that world shld be someone who understand the POV of the people she kills. Yet, she just says, it is their fault to challenge the common sense.

hibiki is just being spoiled and sly.
Yes, she want to change the world from the inside. But, it is only for her own sake. Not because it is her home now.
If u notice, she kip on saying it is worthwhile to be a hero. She may felt hatred towards demon for her fallen comrade. But that repetitive mumbling of hers already suggested that her motivation stem from a different basis: it is a challenge.
She came to this world because it is a challenge.
She refuse to accept ppl’s views on the matter because she want to prove her view is the only correct one.
It is not as pure as to make her HOME prosper or protect it…

    5. I don’t hate Hibiki, since she’s an important trigger for Makoto’s growth and is just doing her best to get the best end realistically possible.

That said, I also do not excuse her shortcomings. Under normal conditions, someone makes a mistake, reflects, tries to make things right, and becomes better as a person. Hibiki though, can’t take any of this back if she succeeds and in a likelihood doesn’t even want to.

As an ally of Limia, she passes with flying colors. But as a hero? She was teetering for a while and in these past few chapters, she’s completely failed as one.

      1. What is a hero in these novels other than an assassin? Aren’t they just a warrior sent to kill the head of the opposing faction? How many heroes are actually heroes for all sides in a war? Do the people they fight against consider themselves evil and the hero justified in their actions? Do the demons believe that drugging students and mutating them into monsters is a heroic or an evil endeavor? Do the orcs feel the actions of the demon outrunners that killed them off systematically while pretending to be Shen were heroic efforts on their part?

A hero is not a saint. They have flaws, they have personal emotions and baggage, and they have their own interpretations of things. Here they carry the hopes and dreams of the people that support them as a strong vanguard in the fight against their enemies, and in this way Hibiki is exemplary to the term. There is a reason Tomoki is a hero, and it is the same reason Beowulf’s epic is heroic despite his going out to kill a grieving mother. Even Makoto is a hero to the people of Asora regardless of what the rest of the world may believe.

    6. Hibiki does not support slavery, but summoned into a world where the idea is apparently deeply ingrained into society. She can’t just snap her face Gershwin and magically change it, so she intends to try to influence people away from discrimination after the wars end. As seen on Rotsgard chapters she has already attempted to lay the groundwork with the Limia king and royal family. However she knows nothing can be done during the demon war, and likely not until after the war with Gritonia that she knows will follow it. As a single person she can only do so much, so she gathers strength to her, but as it is continuously proved to her she is never strong enough. If she were At Makoto’s level then you could expect her to be much more proactive, but as is she can’t even defeat Io nor even protect the capital city of the nation she serves. Let alone fighting a god to forcibly change the people’s mindsets or being able to instantly run away to a separate dimension of complete safety at any time, she has to work with the people of the world instead.

      1. Actually Hibiki just stated that she totally supports the slavery. Slavery is part of a common sense which she accepted, and ideal solution for a weak(in her twisted mind)
Also she in a year didn’t even lift a finger to reduce discrimination toward a demihumans, coz there was no profit for her.

      2. That year has been spent at war. In a situation where humanity must remain united against a great threat, fracturing her support with drastic social and political upheaval is akin to shooting yourself in the foot. She has plans, but they can’t proceed during a time of war.

    7. @Bloody. “Are ou really saying that it is wrong for Hibiki to do whatever possible to protect her new home, because “scheming is wrong”?”

You still one of those saying that at this point when the general concensus agrees that Hibiki is a master manipulator that say whatever she can to justify her actions and preach moral conduct to others while she herself lacks any moral integrity (hence the self confessed hypocrisy). To advocate against a neutral party because it would potentially get in her way of killing more demons for revenge doesn’t feed into the ‘protect’ narrative.

“That’s why her point of view is somewhat biased, because she’s trying to be a respoinsible person.”

Its biased to the point of being unproductive. I don’t see how she is being resposnsible person when Waterfall already warned her against provoking Makoto and the potential fallout.

      1. Hibiki’s concern with Makoto’s neutrality is in regards that his efforts prolong the war, which means more will die on both sides. This is a common military issue. A city under siege will not surrender if independent smugglers keep the populace fed, even if they feed the attacking army equally in the process. To give a more poignant example, Truman authorized the dropping of the atomic bombs because the belief was that a land invasion against Japan would have an astromically high cost in lives on both sides given the dogged fervor of the Japanese military, so by crushing their spirit into surrender they would be “saving” more lives than would be lost. The results are of course still a deeply debated topic, but the reasoning is as pragmatic as it is heartless.

This is something similar, as while helping those in need is obviously the “right” thing to do, logistically and from a practical standpoint it is just as “wrong”.

    8. Wew I disagree about goddess….are you forgetting in the place that the one that put the demon on hard place thus starting the war was the goddess? Making obvious discrimination by buffing hyuman 4x and debuffing demon 4x was also the goddess? Sending someone by freefall to the edge of the world just because an ugly face and petty jealously, a goddess? Heck even aqua(konosuba) still cuter by comparison.

And about hibiki…while I don’t hate her for manipulation or and how she consider that slavery still needed(If someone here watching arslan senki there’s an episode where it was the slave that angry because they are freed…because they have no skill or whatever to live) but saying weak people have to accept being oppressed it’s what we call dictatorship and how ungrateful and slow to learn she is that i think makes her hated so much…even demon king zef know not to stir up makoto while hibiki getting instruction by waterfall, threaten by mio, witnessing the power itself..and still trying to stir up makoto by finding asora? I can’t say she was thinking for limia sake or her own vendetta now.

The view point of the weak is it now?? let’s just put hibiki into Nazi concentration camp and see if she can still say climbing the ladder to survive

    9. I dint hate hibiki as much as others up till now, but it changed when mako and hibiki were going towards waterfall, she thought he was dangerous becoz he could ezily commit genocide which would be strange for someone raised in japan, yet later she states that to hold the common sense of japan in this world was bad, this contradiction is what i find the most irritating till now.

  3. Thanks for the chapter

It’s ending hibick’s screens time, banzai.
OMG, she has gratitude towards goddess because of her shit situation. Seriously, I am hoping Io beat her again, without no one to save her.

  4. I think it would be cool if makoto became god at the end and would “rule” out of asora with his giant Magic body armor arms that would be befitting of a god

  5. Thank you Reigokai-san for this great, much awaited chapter.
Yes, this chapter is pretty much answering chapter for many questions and theory we reader have.
Finally, Hibiki admits her hatred, she also notices a clue about Asora.
Finally, Mio admits that she had plan her no plan and just go well as she plan.
Finally, we got confirmation that Hibiki don’t know the weak and Makoto don’t know to act as the STRONG.
Finally, Chiya told Makoto about eldritch abomination she had see in him.
We can expect massive comments in this chapter as well.

My first thought after finish this chapter is that
Mio, did you just go through a classic JUST AS PLAN desu wa, perfectly combined with VILLAIN LAUGH on the top of a spire? You even already derived another plan to betray Hibiki, read-hero’s, expectation without moving a finger and LEAVE INTO DARKNESS with whispering word.
Are you the WICKED WITCH OF THE WEB?

    1. betray hibiki ? she doesnt even care about hibiki, only the cooking knowledge, why do you think that she betray hibiki ? she doesnt have any obligation to her as far her concern

      1. I didn’t mean Mio will betray her. I mean Mio will betray her expectation that Makoto will not involved in war.

      2. well…. Makoto didnt say he wont involved in war, he just state that he will NEUTRAL in the war , and she already kinda ask of makoto to help her to support limia in which is indirectly already involving him in the war

  6. I understand… Makoto-kun pushed away my serious emotions of the several millions of lives that I have been entrusted with.
    More like
I understand… Makoto-kun pushed away my willingness to oppose and enslave a whole race of people simply because they have nothing to do with me.
Frankly I hate her more than tomoki, at least he doesn’t pretend that he’s selfless and righteous.

    1. yeah, a big shit on a plate is better than a badly cooked meal, because at least it’s not trying to look good.

      1. That part also make me… huh ? What the hell ? When did he say that, you bitch ? And what about several millions of others that you want to enslave you damn hypocrite bitch…..

    2. and honestly it’s time to put an end to the point “tomoki is better than hibiki because at least he doesn’t pretend that he’s selfless and righteous.” that is totally wrong

      chap 88:
“Just like how Lily said before, I am a hero. I am fighting for the sake of this world. Defeat the demon lord and after that I will create a peaceful world. Tomoe-san, for that sake, please lend us your power” (Tomoki)

he is exactly what you reproach to hibiki.

      1. redcolonel I honestly think that you should reread the whole thing.
        1) for Tomoki comrads is something that you protect with your life and don’t kill even if you don’t like them (dream and fight dragon slayer)
for Hibiki comrads is something that you discard and backstab when you can get profit from it.
        2) Tomoki was brainwashed by Lily into doing bad things.
        Hibiki wasn’t brainwashed by anybody.
p.s. your quote is just a commercial, why did you even bringing it here?

        1. I think you are the one who should reread the whole thing

          1) tomoki only see his comrades as toy, proven against sophia when he said he wanted to recruit her (add her to his harem), the other girls objected but he didn’t give a damn about their opinions, he probably doesn’t even know the girls outside of his bed (what they likes, their personality, etc…). they are his fuckable meat bags
same when he tried to trade tomoe against 3 of his meat bags (AKA Valkyries) saying they would do whatever he want.
he doesn’t care so much about the girls, but he will cry if someone break his toys.

          2) no, he didn’t ‘fall’. he said it itself (in the dream) the princess is the first one he charmed (as he though).
the first thing he did was to charm (mind controle) the princess and fuck her.
          It’s just who he is

PS if tomoki can use the ‘hero and savior statut’ as “commercial”, why is it so bad that hibiki act as a ‘hero and savior’ to gain followers? same thing.

Tomoki was a lil shit before the summoning and stayed a lil shit after the summoning
the major difference between Tomoki and hibiki is
Hibiki is the cool and charismatic person excelling at everything at that people hate because of envy
Tomoki is a weak willed loner that people find easier to identify to,
and end up loving him more for that.

        2. @omfg

You have quite a high opinion of Tomoki, it seems. The way you phrase it, it’s almost like he has no responsibility for the actions he took.

No one twisted his arm to make him become a hero. He saw it as a means to satisfy his base desires, nothing more.

He was offered gifts that spoke to him. Invincibility at night when the moon is out, because he’s afraid of getting hurt (not that there’s anything wrong with that in itself, but it’s not exactly heroic either). And the ability to make others obey his every whim. Absolute obedience through the gift of Charm.

While the first gift is fine, the second one is not something a real hero would want. To rob someone of their individuality is the same as killing that person. That’s right, “hero” Tomoki has been killing Hyumans left and right with great abandon, just to satisfy his own desires. I don’t know about you, but to me a hero is someone who puts the needs and lives of others before their own.

And he wasn’t brainwashed. He was seduced. Which are two different things. He knew exactly what he was doing. His upbringing would have taught him that it’s at best a questionable action. His ability to think rationally was not impeded. It’s just that he never stopped to think whether it was the right thing to do. He simply did it because it felt good.

          As for your points:
          1) For Tomoki, his “comrades” are simply his precious possessions. If he truly cared about them, he would want them to care about him because they chose to, not because they were made to. The reason he “cares” so much about their well-being is because he’s possessive. The way people can be possessive about their new car, or their collection of figurines.

          2) Already mentioned it, but no he wasn’t. Unless I remember incorrectly, in which case, please tell me about when in the story it was implied that he is being brainwashed (not necessarily the specific chapters, just the arc will do).

      2. I hate Tomoki, but he is being slightly manipulated by Lily, after makoto left that country and lily went to see Tomoki, he told her that makoto was strong and hit his face, Lily used that fact to manipulate him into wanting to become strong by doing more dangerous experiments on him at the risk of his life. After that he would take Tomoe away from makoto and make him suffer, she did this so that at the end she would use him to kill the goddess. Also you said that in the dream he thought the charm worked on her… exactly it didnt and he thinks it did, shes been manipluting him this whole time, a very basic method to manipulating someone is to make them think your on their side. Not saying shes in absolute control of him, but he will do as she says at key moments.

        1. you missed the point: he though the charm worked on her, and she was the first slave, that mean he made her his slave BEFORE she manipulate him.
the fact that it failed is unrelated to the matter.

without lily, tomoki would still be like that. maybe not as extreme as now, but he wouldn’t be a great guy.

So, no, don’t try to cleanse him by pushing every fault into lily.

      3. How is the fact the charm not working on her not related, the fact it didnt work means she can manipluate him, but im sure youll misinterpret what im saying. I honestly thought i didnt have to clarify my self, but I guess I do, I never said Tomoki is not to blame for the things his done, your right in saying that he is who he is, and the fact that he is brainwashing people into doing things against their will pisses me off to no end and I wish he dies a painful death. The only thing I stated was that he is being maniplulate by Lily, that is a fact. When I said “he will do as she says at key moments” I meant in moments similar to during a battle, because he trusts that she has his best interest in mind because he thinks shes brainwashed, and because of this if she told him to kill the goddess he will do it. Not trying to cleanse Tomoki, I have just been trying to say that in one way or another he is being manipluate ever so slightly in the way he thinks.

        1. okay, I misunderstood what you said.
since I talked about tomoki’s personality without lily’s influence, I though that by saying she deceived him, you implied it wasn’t he fault.

how I see him without lily’s influence would be either
-let himself to his greed and result with more or less the same situation as now (since the first thing he decided was to mind control/enslave people)
-broke down and without lily’s controle he will just stay in his room like what he did before the summoning

          1. Well I can tell you that in one of the extras we will guet a glimpse of the character of Tomoki from earth outside of the bulling and hikkimori, it will be in a sense interesting.

      4. redcolonel it’s funny how hard you are trying to ignor obvious facts:
        1) lolwhat? You are implying that pick up lines can give us more reliable info on his true nature than deathdoor actions and long time patterns…
        2) first use of his eyes has absolutly same effect as Bichikis brainwashing, it just improves first impresion instead of instantly turning everyone into meat toilets(68 ch)

        Kortodo
No I have no good opinion of Tomoki, he is weak and stupid, but when we put him near Bichiki he looks like a perfect man.
About brainwashing there was Lily line where she liked result of his “communication” with party members also we know that she was guiding him from the first day, In real world he was bullied by girls, so without her “help” process at least would be slower and it would be quite possible that he ended with one or two girlfriend.
And it was directly stated that his desire to become an emperor was set up by Lily.

        1. ignore the obvious fact? talk about irony…
1)reread the whole discussion in the dream with tomoki, all his lines was him justifying his own actions, labeling himself as right and other as wrong.
example when he support the use of his nuke, but condemn makoto’s spell
when he justify the murder of the royal familly to access thr throne because it was what people wanted, when the people he talked about was his puppets, and condemn at the same time makoto for ‘murdering his allies’
hibiki died because Tomoki refused to let makoto help her because she wasn’t from gritonia
imply that makoto is his lifetime slave because he saved his life once
talk about bringing peace by declaring war to all country that refuse to fall under his control.
said he enslaved everybody because he didn’t want people to go against his will.

“Something like Lily, if you didn’t mind used goods, I wouldn’t have minded giving her to you if you just grovelled.” this sentence say long on tomoki’s personnality.

when was he at deathdoor? never
when did he felt close to death? when Io jammed his blessing and immortality, he got shitless scared, run away and broke down.
when did he put his safety in danger to protect his toys? never
he showed many time he considered his girls like toys, and never ricked his life for them.

give me sauce if you say I am wrong

          2) that’s not the point. working or not working is unrelated. a murder if fail is still an tempt of murder and is wrong. the first things he did was to start brainwash (his eyes need an activation for that) the princess, and he would obviously keep doing to anyone.
that just show that he is greedy and see other people as toys and possessions
I can’t see with that start how he will redeem. 9 out of 10 he would have either followed the same path as now or just broke down and seclude himself again.

the flaw you see in hibiki:
“for Hibiki comrads is something that you discard and backstab when you can get profit from it.”
          tomoki:
-disregard his Valkyries to trad them with tomoe (clearly a back stabbing to the girl that gave everything to him)
-disregard the opinion of his close party’s member because of his lust
-brainwash anyone that disagree with him because he is insecure
-used the ‘life debt’ to bend makoto to his will and use his power
-murdered emperor candidate for his greed
          – waged war with allied nations for his greed

what you reproach to hibiki, tomoki has the same flaw plus all the others flaws. I don’t know from there how you can considerate him as better.

and no, hibiki may have a morallity you disagree with, but tomoki’s morality is “whatever he does, even selfish desires, are right. whatever other does that may in a way or another hinder him are wrong.”.
Tomoki never admited anything he did as wrong.

        2. i really don’t see how Tomoki can be better that Hibiki, really the guy at must give us pity but I can’t in anyway so far support him or the way he have been going on. He had had a few time when his image could have been improved in the eyes of the readers but he hasn’t, in fact the level of egoism he has showed so far sincerely just show how mutch he lacks. I hope that the author guets to develop him more and at least give him some kind of personal grow, because so far he has been the joke character of the hole series.

    3. Look at what happened in Rotsgard. Humor me here, but if you found out that another country was directly pushing drugs into a local school that drove people into insane murder machines, and that they were doing this on purpose because they hated you, what response would you have for this country and it’s leadership? Say someone you were friends with was directly involved as ilumgand was. Would you be able to sit back and say “oh, I understand why they did it because the economic and social policies of our country was obviously pushing them to desperation.”

In the world, meaning reality, impoverished nations are still being pushed to the brink because their leadership takes hardline and excessive policies against the will and interests of the majority of other nations. In response, the majority pushes back by depriving them of goods and trade, further impoverishing the nations. North Korea is a prime example, as are nations in the Middle East. If they fell into line, so to speak, and became team players with the rest of the world their economic level would surely improve, but they deem this to be at the expense of their culture and their inherent rights. They do not want to tow the line, especially since the vast national majority often walks all over the smaller nations for personal self-interests. And so they fight back in whatever ways their local power allows and further distance themselves, but who really is at fault here when both sides are merely trying to protect their own self-interests?

The biggest mistake you can make in politics is assuming that people are inherently altruistic, ESPECIALLY those who are considered marginalized or victims. If this was a war against the followers of Gandhi then perhaps you would be able to step back and say “hey, let’s no do this, we can work things out with these people”, but you will absolutely not have that situation here, and the state of the war was already well beyond that point when Hibiki was summoned.

      1. Well granted in our reality and world those impoverished nations do it to themselves really when they take hardline stances such as NK or the Middle east and while their may be some back room things going on, everyone more or less agrees in the west anyway that this stance is rather bad and it would be better to be more open to trade and such.
The largest problem in this world’s case is that the BS has gone too far and their is an all powerful figure called the goddess pushing this BS agenda on a minority for so long and now they somewhat teeter between a do or die situation for their entire race. Had they not gone to war they would starve out in the extreme wastes or had they submit to the hyumans they would still slowly die out due to the religion in place. This is not simply a matter of culture but rather a matter for survival for the demon race and the Demi Humans that support them. Years of oppression and desperation will drive people towards radical and extreme actions for little mind to morals. I believe someone said before in another comment that while it is easy to sympathize with the demons, it is hard to support their actions in which I agree but considering the demons have been pushed that far to consider now drugging kids to become murder machines just goes to show how bad the Hyuman oppression is and how desperate they have become.

        1. The thing is, it seems to have grown from a war for survival into a war of hatred at this point.

Even if they had a place to survive, wouldn’t want to stop until the hyumans are all dead.

    1. seeing what happened with makotwo (tomoki’s dream), he would have slaughtered demon race by sense of duty, and would mind much about it.

        1. damn no edit…

he just killed the demon race out of sense of duty for tomoki’s saving him and in lily’s name. once he ended, he started a fight with tomoki and nuke country into desert to pick a fight with the goddess

my point is I don’t think he would have minded that much the situation. since he said he would help, he would kill demons and that’s all.

        1. I was under the impression that makoto put up with tomoki’s shit for so long only because he saved him.

      1. I am not sure about that, he inded killed the demon in that case because of sence of duty. But it was from being saved after wandering alone in the wasteland for quite some time if I remember correctly. Anyone would have a strong attachement to the one who saved them even more if they are the first one you meet in a foreign world.

The way I view makoto in the case of a sumoning to save limia would be ‘Mee… I didn’t ask for it, leave me be’ he would have been discarded as a failed hero. But well if the godess didn’t throw him off to the wasteland and properly powered him uop he might be more enclined to help.

        1. Makoto was always show with a strong loyalty and respect for order and hierachy, I don’t think once he accepted to be a hero (with tsukuyomi) he would go back on his words.
and if he ran away there was still the chance that a sister would be summoned to take his place as a hero. making him more likely to follow the hero’s role. he accepted to avoid that case to begin with.

      2. Everyone’s forgetting “where” Makoto ended up in that dream… Gritonia, meaning…Lily
In her POV she wished that Makoto was the one that became Gritonia’s hero, instead of Trashmoki and since Makoto was already stronger than Trashmoki even back then, what do you think she would’ve done?

Her wish was to see the world of the goddess burn, so there is no doubt that she would’ve manipulated and used Makoto just like she had done with Trashmoki. Look how that idiot ended up…

        1. don’t push every problem into lily, in other time line he still coldly took the genocide road and killed people the same way he did, she didn’t play a big role in makoto’s devellopement.

and it’s unrelated to the fact that he is loyal.

    2. Indeed I forgot his promise.

He would comply, but I don’t know… the way he his, I can’t see him having the ‘Hero Aura’. Would he change to a someone shouldering hope of a whole country, race…
He might just do what he is ask to, I need to reread the first chapter but are the hero asked to kill all demon or just to help hyuman stop the war and win back the land lost ? If it’s the later I don’t see him go on a full blown demon eradication path.

But well he is kinda like a child, treating well those who treat him well. Being treated well enough by limia might make him constitute a ‘familly’. Losing a companion/familly member like Hibiki did, he might turn into a mindless killer like in the dream where he lose his folowers.

It is just that the idea of him as a ‘regular’ hero is too foreign to me ^^

  7. Well, this cleared up a lot of questions that was bugging me about Makoto. -> Makoto doesn’t hold the point of view of a strong one, which is why he is just mucking around this world. (Complete opposite of Hifumi from Yobidasa)

  8. Thanks for the chapter~
After all the frustration from the previous chapters this one was kinda relaxing

  9. Repulsive? Then they should make sure they never awaken it for if they do, everyone gets microwaved from the inside.

  10. ヒューマンも魔族も、上の方が本当に鬱陶しい
    was translated as:
The hyumans, the demons, and that one above, are really annoying
    but it should be:
The hyumans and the demons, their heads are really annoying.

p.s. Bichiki being Bichiki as always:
    1) She brainwashed Naval with magical charisma granted by bug.
    2) She brought Naval to do some funny genocide.
    3) Stupid demons were terorist enough to reject her funny genocide which was totally according to common sense of aborigines.
    4) She sacrificed Naval despite having 2 spellcasters who could evacuate em.
    5) Now she want to sacrifice at least several millions to make a revenge on man who just defended during her funny genocide attempt.
BUT Makoto is coldblooded fiend without a trace of humanity coz he can kill some solders who came on battlefieled with resolve to kill or to be killed…

    1. Yeah, the fact that one of the participants in this little moralistic slap fight is an enthusiastic participant in genocide it really kills the author’s moral relativity screed. When one side is literally a proponent of wholesale slaughter of an oppressed minority it’s really hard to take them at all seriously on any moral issue.

It isn’t like she had no choice but to go on the offensive. Strategic containment, defensive warfare, militaristic diplomacy, there are plenty of options short of “kill them all and let god(dess) sort them out”.

      1. I know she is a hero but does she even have the authority of a general, like does she have the ability to even take the whole hyuman race out of race war mode.

        1. no she doesn’t. as a proof, she is already struggling with limia’s internal politics, she does have that much power.

      2. I don’t think there is meant to be any moral relativism here.
For sometime now i’ve seen Tomoki and Hibiki as deconstructions (possibly unintentional) of more traditional LN heroes.

Hibiki is the pure one who seeks to destroy the evil demons and then maybe make the society she is in a bit better, without really paying attention to obvious evil of the society she is in, or questioning the motivations of her foes.

Neither would be all that interesting as protagonists, but as sidecharacters, and occasional antagonists, they can add color and depth to the story.

      1. Ah yeah I remember Lime actually says that Naval is battle maniac soldier blinded by rage ?
That one character that the author put off is a really good one, she give a decent link point and major role in Hibiki character development.

    2. 1)Whoah slow down your treating her like she is the one who started the race war.
2)What are her options at this point cause she is kind of locked in
      3) I dont think she thought Navel was gonna commit suicide until it was to late to stop her away
      4) She is afraid of the fact that Makoto could end the world if the world stood against him.
      5) Her idea that Demons should just bend over and take it is dumb , I wonder if she can say that to the Demon races face.

      1. 1) She had absolutely no obligations to fight, but she decided to do it coz it looked interesting.
        3) You didn’t get it. What I meant:
suicidal tendencies was allegory => Naval had hate to demon race which could bring her into a war and lead her to a death, but it was only a possibility.
        4) World? She is just a bitch hungry for political power who don’t give a shit about a hyumans or demihumans:
        a) her default plan was – to end war fast with any means possible to start сolor revolution and civil war in Limia.
        b) she could easily reduce discrimination by becoming a pet enthusiast, but she decided not to do it, coz there was a slight possibility of slight reputation reduction and no profit for her.
        c) she decided to backstab Makoto as soon as they meet only because he she thought that he has some power and slight possibility of going aganst her.
        d) now she thinks that it is totaly alright to sacrifice several millions just to make personal revenge on one man.

      2. Her talk about achieving peace and equality was just something she made up on the spot in order to make Makoto join their side and help them end the war.

That’s how Hibiki is, she changes her colors depending on the person she deals with.

Since Makoto is in a neutral position and helping all the races without discrimination, she thought that he might sympathise with her if she sought world peace, but somewhere during their discussion some of her true feelings surfaced (hate for demons).

        1. To be fair to Hibiki, I don’t think she was specifically lying when she tried to convince Makoto.

So far, Hibiki hasn’t been shown doing deception to the level of manipulation yet.
So far, and including her initial meeting with Makoto as his senpai, she tends to pick and choose the information that’s most likely to produce results-the “changing colors” so to speak-but the information has never been proven false.

I’m not particularly a fan of hers, but until she’s explicitly lied, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she means what she says. The revelation of her own discrimination here seems to be news to her as well, so I’ll chalk that up to her being a kid that doesn’t know how they really feel.

    3. Makoto is right about war. Is kill or be killed. Nothing cold blooded about it. You don’t expect others not to fight back when you are killing them.

      1. the bothersome part isn’t the logic and rationality behind it.
if you kill someone in self defense, even if he is the one attacking and youdidn’t have chose, to live you had to kill, you will still feel bad and guilty, but makoto feel nothing like that.
If he think ‘it’s okay’, he will not feel anything, and that’s disturbing.

  11. Thanks for the chapter..
I think the black part of makoto is part of nyarlathotep..
Some of the alias of nyarlathotep and the alias of makoto and his follower are the same.. Ahahaha..
Not only that if you read the whole wiki about the personality of nyarlathotep it is almost the same of what makoto saw in his dreams..
I truly love this novel and I wanted to find out who is the fourth follower of makoto since daikokuten said that he will gain another follower..

    http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/Nyarlathotep_(Lovecraft)

    1. I don’t really see him as anything similar to nyarlathotep… Or any outer god…

If anything, I see him similar to Loki… But I am guessing Loki exists in that multiverse

    2. When you out it that way, it would be a hilarious scenario where Nyarlathotep tried to mess with Makoto in the past, but ended up sucked into the massive void of potential inside him.

It would be much like Tsukuyomi filling him to the brim with power, only the god itself got trapped. …it would also explain Makoto’s crap luck.

    1. Ah… I was actually thinking about that when I read that part.
I believe Makoto promised to himself, if there’s a religion that worship Tsukuyomi specifically he will definitely join it ? I thought he will answer with “my God is god that rules over the Moon, on other dimensions”

    2. Even though Chiya is a priestess, she isn’t a member of the church of the goddess. It’s actually uncertain what belief she adheres to, though since Lorel strives to emulate Japan she is probably Shinto dedicated and more a follower of the high spirits I would think?

    3. This got me thinking. Are the Gods in this story empowered by worship, belief, faith and the likes? The Earth Gods doesn’t seems so, and neither does the Bug.

        1. I’m just wondering if they got any perks from believers. But yeah. From what has been shown in the story so far, nothing of the kind.

      1. This is a slight spoiler, but worship does have an effect on the gods. This will be revealed later.

It’s not Discworld where existence is tied to it, but it allows “benefits”.

    1. hey man, consider reigokai health also, even before when we usually get update every 3 day he already translate like crazy with quite length chapter, give him some rest will ya ?

  12. Thanks for the Chap~
And I kind of see the flaws of each character that showed up in this chapter of the novel, or more like this arc: “Visiting Limia”, I think it just shows that Hibiki and Waterfall’s Plan to attempt to seal Makoto with something for the sake of him not destroying the goddess’ world and letting the hyumans win the war, would actually become a reverse, which would more likely induce Makoto in Knocking down the Goddess, especially when I read his own interpretation of what his essence is….

I’m also in favor Mio’s opinion about the inhabitants of this with the exception of the Employees and Acquaintances of Kuzunoha Company, are doing to Makoto, I think that it is more wise to just let him be and that you should just normally become atleast a favorable acquaintance of Makoto, to be able to survive that.

    1. I will just say that Waterfall choosing the wrong person to curry favor, which part of last chapter conversation is actually told Makoto to living in peace, all that’s Hibiki doing are trying to drag Makoto to her side and win the war.
While bad mounthing everyone other than hyuman race at it.
That’s the kind of character Hibiki is, I cna safely say now, she is biased.
While fortunately the person herself finally realised that she’s been biased all this time, she decides to go on with her master plan.
Honestly I cannot understand her, maybe I just never under that much pressure, but I cannot agree with everything she’s been doing.
She know, she’s smart, yet she decided to follow her rage, I really don’t understand her.
Maybe that’s what people called feelings over logic, even when you know being angry is useless, sometimes you will get angry anyway ?

      1. It’s like Hibiki had a sudden realization that she is fighting only because of her hatred of the enemy, not any just or righteous cause, and then promptly decided that she was fine with that.

      2. She isn’t a saint. She does not want to forgive the demons, especially Io, due to her personal investments. Makoto would actually be the exact same, you realize? If one of his friends were harmed, he would absolutely hate the perpetrator and seek to punish them. He has even said as much, and likely on the point of Navel at least he would understand. Hibiki is the same, but she was tied up in a war she can’t deal with alone, and thus her situation is already mired in resentment because she is now an invested party.

If she were perhaps an enlightened sage perhaps she would have the viewpoint of an objective reader, but she is only human, and a high school teenager involved in life and death battles at that. She isn’t going to have our mindset.

      3. I’m just amazed she is so smart yet refused to acknowledge that what she’s doing needs some change in it, revenge is fine. But her rage are misdirected at wrong target. It’s okay if she want to settle score with demon army, but at least spare those innocent civilians.
The problem of MC hero is that afterall ? If there’s no “gandalf” like character they will eventually turns villain in time.

    1. I have an interesting hypothesis: Lime is neither the tree nor the dragon, but the light rain. Rain brings growth to parched soil similar to how Lime boosts his allies abilities. The tree is Mondo, Lime’s personal partner, and the roosting Dragon is Tomoe (and perhaps to a lesser extent, Komoe, because it is a young dragon?) who is his superior.

  13. Thank you for the je chapter.

Well i think the white being is because Makoto is pure SO the prietress See that, as for the black i dunno. Some have Days sekai but omnious thing =/= Sekaï some have idee ??

    1. I think the darkness has something to do with the possible futures where he just glasses the world with his power.

  14. Thanks for the chapter
Gosh the previous chapter hit 800+ comment just in two days
White featureless one will go to sleep
Haha i LoL in that part

  15. thank you Rei-san!!! <3

as for Hibiki.. we can quite see her true nature in this chapter. i dont like her from the start, and will keep doing that.

  16. Guys i have a question. Did makoto re-open asora after the adventurer incident or did it only remain as a story or rumor when hibiki visits tsige?

    1. I think he did but made security reasurement, the town the adeventures visit is a fake town the only purpose is to recieve the adventures and for the residents of Asora to have some interaction with then.

  17. Thank you kai-senpai !!
Makoto I became a devotee hahah, when you decide to do you have to do, great philosophy, thank you that makoto is not a pervert, imagine what it would be like if he decided to rule all the illicit things like for example in Hibiki ….. Well we already have the trashmoki so we do not need a new makoto, I hope he increases his power more and creates depression gaps in his pseudo-allies.

  18. I found myself hoping that Chiya will become the fourth follower. There will be a lot of interesting discussions and hilarity ensuing from such an event.

    Thanks.

    1. She’s not powerful enough. Even Shiki was touch and go. And he had been boosted by Makoto’s rings.

    2. She will not and technically impossible for her but i would like to see Makoto to ntr Chiya just get to see how will Hibiki pissed off.

    3. I think that it would be hilarious, were that to be the case. If that happened, not only would Hibiki have failed to obtain Lime from Makoto, she would have lost Chiya to him as well. That in itself would be a great loss to her, as I think Chiya is fulfilling the white mage role in their party. Even though it would be funny, and interesting to read about Hibiki’s reactions, it has almost no chance of happening because Chiya is definitely no where near the amount of strength to even be his slave in a contract. They had to give Shiki ten filled Draupnir rings to get him to barely fulfill the requirements, and Makoto has only been getting stronger since then, with his practice of his bow expanding his magic capacity. Makoto has essentially broken into the divine realm with his creation of the silver gauntlets, so I believe she won’t be able to make the cut even if she is given magic power. I currently somewhat doubt Tomoe or Mio could still make the same contract with Makoto without the same kind of assistance that they gave to Shiki.

  19. thanks for the chapter

I’m dissapointed at hibiki when she said she didn’t want the war to stop because of personal grudge…

and lime’s heart show that he want to become tomoe’s support?

and mio show that she is smart and can make schemes, but just doesn’t care most of time…

    1. I’m conflicted on Mio. On the one hand she is instinctually clever and good at reading people, but on the other she is singularly obsessed with Makoto and has literally no other interests. She will never have friends, will never show real interest in others, will never have personal goals that don’t concern him. That’s pretty lazy writing for a human character… which is why it’s good that she’s a spider, as her thought processes remain as carefree and indifferent of others as what you would expect of a spider. When I think of it like that, her inhuman aspects make a lot more sense.

Though I still wonder if she’d have a problem with caffeine.

      1. Her obsessed behavior is mostly because she never really developed as a personality or character so to speak before the ruling pact. She could be said to be similar to a pet or animal you give shelter to and constantly showers the owner with love in a sense. Imagine Mio as if she was a dog or cat with little less than the thought processes we have and that love their owner to an excessive degree and then was suddenly given the ability to speak alongside a spike to their intelligence. You would probably find the same result. Of course she has taken on a rather extreme yandere aspect but to her, Makoto is her great true benefactor and owner. Also last thing that world needs is a drunken Mio. Drunken Mio might be a raging drunk and shit will hit the fan.

      2. Even a certain white spider Goddess has problems with caffeine. Don’t think that any kind of spiders are resistant to it.

  20. If you think Demon race as a hyuman with different look and culture, the story will became: Some hyuman who got discriminated have to chose between dead because insufficient surce or became a slave for other people who discriminate them. They have a pride so they chose to take other people source with force because there’s no way the other people will help them as a result of discrimination from the goddess teaching. Will Hibiki save them without them became a slave because they’re still the same hyuman? If yes, then Hibiki is the one who discriminate. She didn’t care about demons became a slave because they’re different race. Makoto unconsciously dislike hyuman just because wherever he go, there’s always a trash hyuman and the one who make them like that is goddess teaching. And even like that, he didn’t hate all hyumans like when hibiki hate all demons just because one of them kill someone them know. So, Makoto’s plan is simple, ‘bad people because bad teacher? Just change the teacher!’.

Hibiki realize she act like some small minded people on every novel, “my parent got killed by a demon, so I will kill all demon”. I remember about a MC that one of his parent got killed by a demon and the other got killed by human, he have a better conclusion.

      1. I thought he had realized that it’s not what race they are, it was just that there are bad people in both the human race and demon race. I thought he realized that a lot of hatred could be avoided if they could create peace between the two races, so he was supporting the demon lord’s daughter or something like that. I wouldn’t say he hates everyone, in fact he wants peace. I’m also not quite sure that its from LV999 Villager, because I think his father had just been killed by a monster not a demon, but I see what you mean, especially with the lore of that story being that monsters appear because of the demons.

    1. At least the person herself has realized that she has been tainted by the race war. Her problem is that she cant really go against the Goddess who gave her power while Makoto can resist since he has his own power plus the powers gifted from other gods.

      1. In fact…… she can ?
Just a thought, while the power of goddess still in effect, she hold pretty impressive power right ? Maybe she is on the level of sofia by now, so….. what will happens if she make contract with Makoto, even when the goddess is angry and takes back her power she already got another source of power right ?

Not gonna happens though, she have eyes of tiger that won’t ( don’t want ) to lose to anyone, I cannot imagine a situation where she beg Makoto for power.

      2. If Hibiki makes contract with Makoto, we will end up with a Hibiki shaped puppet with Makoto pulling the strings.

Hibiki, as powerfull as she is, is nowhere near the level of Makoto, or Mio, Tomoe, and probably not even Shiki, who himself needed lot of help to make a contract, before Makoto did lot more power ups.

      3. I think it would actually be quite interesting to see what happens to the powers gifted to Tomoki and Hibiki, should the Goddess be defeated by Makoto, because in my opinion being gifted the powers is different then being blessed. I see it as if they were given the power, it is theirs, similar to how Makoto was given raw divine power by Tsukoyomi at the beginning of the story. If they are being blessed, I interpret that as them being given what is essentially an active buff, with the Goddess constantly supplying the power for these buffs. I think it would also be interesting to see the strength of the two heroes, should all of their powers be taken away, in a situation where the demon race uses those rings of theirs.

      4. @penguinobeano
They are same as blessings, during the first fight with io, when he used the ring there 2x buff was cancelled and tomoki’s power was also lost.

    2. One thing you need to keep in mind about the demon race is that their methods involve things like pushing mind altering drugs towards school children, deep infiltration via murder and identity theft, and forcible drafting of other demihumans races with threat of genocide should they refuse cooperation. While they may have been pushed to the brink, their current hardline stance is more a culture of subjugation rather than a desperate stance for survival.

It is easy to sympathize with the plight of the demon race, but very, very hard to actually support them.

      1. There is no good faction here.
One side is on brink of extinction, and has resorted to using terror tactics and has even committed multiple genocides, while the other is oppressing everyone else in the world and is in process of committing genocide.

And then there’s Makoto who is planning a course of action that will likely kill tens of millions as a side effect, and not really giving a fuck about it.

      2. he had considered it, but during his conversation with Zef he was told that the demon way of life is to subordinate other races and eliminate those that do not follow, an example of which he saw with the orcs. While Zef himself has no issue against coexisting, by his own admissions the demon race as a whole demands this stance from him, so he does his best to honor their wishes.

As such, Makoto doesn’t believe they’d be a fit for his peaceful Asora. He is not against demons in general as the more peaceable variants the Lorelei were easily accepted, but the demon race is currently too militant for Asora’s lack of cultural hegemony.

    1. Agreed.

Now I’m usually against arbitrary and meaningless shippto or anything. One of his students ing, but…

….I’m just saying, it doesn’t even have to be Makoto or anything. One of his students or some other acquaintance would do too…

        1. Oh, so that “-ing” after “students” was from “shipping”? Ah yes, of course it was. I knew that. Hehehe, what else could it possibly be.

Ehem, anyway, nice weather we’re having… *Walks away slowly while whistling*

  21. hibiki doesn’t understand what makoto is thinking? even though she lived on earth?
there’s a lot of examples of a person that doesn’t want anything even when they have power… in webnovels…

    this:
“What I saw in Lime was a gentle large tree. Lush leaves wet in rain were glittering, and…maybe it was making it its dwelling? The young figure of a dragon was visible. I don’t know if it’s a hint to something, but I felt like he was a likeable person. That’s how I viewed it.” (Chiya)
does that mean that there is a young dragon nesting in a large tree… so, is lime the dragon, or the tree, maybe the water (lol).

    thank you for the translation

      1. This chapter proved Chiya’s power ain’t worth shit,Hibiki is a twisted genocidal “hero” and stills appears good to Chiya. Her power only shows her what she wants to see within that person.
She sees Hibiki as a great hero and nothing will change that, not even reality.

      2. I think Hibiki shining is because of the goddess’s charisma ability.
She appears as a hero, drawing people to her, and inspiring them.
It shows what you are (and Hibiki is a charismatic leader), not who they are (Hibiki is a genocidal warmonger).

For Lime, tree might be his ability to support others, young dragon might show his tutelage under Tomoe, not sure if water has any importance, further allusion to Tomoe maybe?

      3. @J4n1
Rather than Hibiki’s charisma interfering, I think Chiya’s eye sees something withing a person and interprets it through Chiya’s biased opinion.Hibiki and Chiya like Lime so Lime is a good person and his inner self is interpreted conveniently.Hibiki fears Makoto and Chiya knows it, so her interpretation of him is the worst possible.

        1. @DB AV

Hmm, well, you know, you’re not exactly stating anything Chiya herself hasn’t. It wasn’t that many chapters ago that Chiya described her power to Hibiki.

Basically, she said that the ability simply shows her those images, but that it does not grant her an understanding of them. Chiya has stated outright that it is she herself who comes up with the interpretations of what those images mean, and that she’s been using her power every opportunity she gets to gain a better understanding of what the images can mean.

So yes, the interpretation is very biased.

      4. It may also be biased from her personal perspective. China is Hyuman, so Hibiki who fights to safeguard Hyumans at personal cost is something admirable to her, and Lime is someone reliable as he still has a hyuman’s common sense which colors his thoughts throughout his pic chapters. Makoto on the other hand has a very real risk of tearing the world’s current state into pieces due to distaste for the goddess, and this likely is what appears as the repulsive entity within her, as that idea itself is likely completely against everything she as a person and as a priestess stands for.

      5. The idea that the images Chiya sees are influenced, or interpreted, through her personal opinions and biases is a good one.

She loves Hibiki, therefore she is shining, she trusts Lime, so he comes of as gentle and trustworthy.
The “repulsive” thing inside Makoto might be repulsive simply because it is too powerful or too alien for Chiya to understand, so she is terrifued of, and repulsed by, it.

      6. I think you all are ignoring that chiya saw mio as spider, if there was charisma interference or biased opinion affecting her eye power she would not be able to see that

      7. DB AV, what she sees isn’t biased, the only room for bias is her interpretation of what she sees. However, it’s not as though there’s no accurate way to interpret those things in order to eliminate or at least minimize bias, all it takes is knowing what the facts behind the things she sees are.

She just currently lacks the experience/knowledge necessary in order to accurately identify what those facts are. Which is why she asked Makoto about what he relies on, his teachings and thoughts; in order to get some points of reference that could possibly help her identify what the things she saw when she looked at him correlate to in actuality.

In mio’s case, everything was pretty straightforward, but that’s only because she was already aware of the existence of the Black Calamity Spider, that magic contracts are a thing that exists. The rest, like her affection for the contract, is also rather straightforward and plain to see in the person herself with her affection and care for her master—Makoto.

It’s basically like looking at a picture of something, but not being able to tell what said thing is/means unless you have enough knowledge of what the thing in said picture is, or could be, based upon similar things you’ve already identified previously.

Chiya looking at Makoto with her current understanding of him, his life, and the way people can be/think, is kinda similar to someone who understands how most cars operate/function trying to understand how a particular helicopter ticks based on her knowledge of cars; pretty hard to do without enough reference material on helicopters or on things that share enough similarities with aspects of helicopters.

      1. The “Chibi” dragon loli, Komoe-chan~

But to bad for lime because we have a policy: “Lolita, No Touch!!!”
Or he might face some kind of “Divine….Absolute Retribution”

    1. First post since I’ve been reading 🙂 I wanted to contribute a bit too the conversation.

I agree. I think Hibiki is a kind of person that over thinks things. As a person with the same habit/problem I understand. The simpler the answer is the more you doubt and question it. I love how much effort is going into characters that are not Makoto!

I have been reading this since the release of chapter 50ish I love what you do and I love this novel to death. Thank you so much for another fantastic chapter.

    2. probably an ability related to the goddess she would probably have a better picture of beautiful people, maybe demons look bad for her too Io should look better though, as he is pretty much a martial artist

  22. Thanks for the chapter as always!
hahahaha……., what kind of sorcery did MIo used for indirectly influence the conversation between Makoto and Hibiki?
But, never mind…… they both finally realize their stances and weakness.
ahh,…… its better for him to join the war.

    1. One visit before Hibiki decided to confront Makoto true feelings, she deliberately give Hibiki a hint how Makoto feels, as unbelievable as it is Hibiki was forced to confirm that. She also leaking how much power Makoto has so Hibiki can grasp the extent of their gap of power. And it works !
Mio you genius, my no1 girl in this novel.

  23. I said it before, I said it again, what a great chapter. Thanks so mutch Regokai for delivering another awsome one. Again this author keeps showing us the character of Hibiki so complete, I will admit I love her character, with all her flaws I like what the author has done with her. If there was a poll she would be my second choice (Makoto is obviously the first). And Mio wow, she relly surprprised me there and not only beacuse of the creeping round (O_<) the fact the she guets to understand a person character so completely truly surprised me you won't ever believe after that analysis that she threw araound that she was a senseless beign just little while ago. There is so mutch to talk about this chapter but I better left my fellow fans discuss about it. As I said before thanks Regokai for the translation, and the author as well for this great piece of work.

    1. To be honest, Hibiki doesn’t really interest me. She’s not really a bad character, and is an excellent contrast, but there’s just so many other characters that I could enjoy even more.

Not to say conversations with her haven’t been amazing. Top stuff.

      1. Well I just loved the way he made her so complex and at the same time symple, she has showed us that her mind is brilliant in some aspects, the conections that she makes on completely separated facts shows us her smart, but at the same time her flaw in not even realizing her selfish reason to continue the war and not looking for the venue of peace (not that there is one rigth now), and even after realizing it she has the composture to acept it but not so mutch to retract from it. I am sure that the author can keep showing deeper sides of other characters in this novel, I am just saying that the last couple of chapters has been to show us who Hibiki really is, how she affects and will be afecting the story from now on. I so far apreciate that he has put so mutch effort in a character like that thats is not the MC it expand the story to another level.

      2. Your sentiment is the same as Root’s, huh? As I recall this was similar to his critique of the Limia hero in his earlier appearances.

      3. hibiki is a really simple character aside from thinking in a logical way. she didnt have much experiance of failure. in this chapter when she thinks about why didnt she is scared of makoto despite being powerful as nations military and why didnt she obey makoto she thought it was of hatred for demon race. but the truth is makoto allows people to raise voice against him. He do realize all people have a will. At least he gives respect to others will in some ways[freedom of speech]. but poor hibiki oujosama can’t recognise this simple fact. she is a rich lady born in a wealthy household without much experiance before transfer. As a result, her thinking became one sided.

    2. Would not recommend Hibiki being in second place as Mio would see that as being next to Makoto in which Mio will pretty much try to murder the poor girl.

  24. what it feels to be the endangered species that can disappear at anytime?
Would the world balance be disrupted if the minority side disappear? The world would still be going on.
And hibiki have been to engrossed with the hero role because the goddess is the one who gave her that.
    thank you!

    1. Na. People with too much privelege or time can believe many things. Adjusting ones view all time is hard work.

Makoto is much simpler in comparison. A few things and no more. And they arent complicated like winning a war.

      1. Makoto leads by example. He lives his life according to his values and would appreciate it if everyone else could follow his lead. He doesn’t think of the long term, but remains firmly in the present.

Hibiki leads by pragmatic doctrine. She tries to categorize and make logical, rational decisions towards a more ordered, structured world. However in the process she marginalizes subsets and sacrifices the emotional well-being of the minority for the greater good.

Tomoki leads with his penis, hence presence for the night, flying mounts, and the long, phallic spear. If he sees a cute girl, he’s going to brainwash and bang her as a love slave, and if that girl is able to turn him down then he’s going to pursue her like a madman cuz “hard to get samurai” is his fetish. While there may be a good point in there somewhere it doesn’t matter because his secret dream is obviously to be an NTR protagonist and therefore he is irredeemable.

  25. thanks for the chapter reigokai-sensei..
mio you are the best, you understand very well in makoto way of thinking…
but if you want him notice you as a lover you must use forces couse you will ended as family love…

      1. Step one: Pretend you are in a uncontrollable heat.

        Step two: “Attack” Makoto.

Step three: Don’t stop the attack until he finally pierces.

        Step four: ???

        Step five: Responsibility.

      2. Remove nearby princess though. Last time a follower got into heat, a princess was ‘sacrificed’ . Not that i blame him as firo is huge bird

    1. Mio sounds disgusting in this one. She really care about nothing and extremely selfish. Know the difference between people yet doesn’t act to make it better, but deliberately manipulating it for the worse.

      1. She just care for Makoto….If you don’t know she was a spider all her live, why she would care about that world or their people? ,Is you the selfish one that one her to care about things she doesn’t even knows

  26. “I see. Well, the talk felt similar to that, Gentle Large Tree-san.” (Makoto)

    “Hah?” (Lime)

“The white featureless one will go to sleep now. Good night.” (Makoto)

    ROFL

  27. To say makoto is like a Red Cross isn’t right, perhaps he really is some sort of a kind-hearted neutral merchant whi just want to help? While Zef can grasp a little about Makoto’s standing, Hibiki, who was said to be smart, can’t get it at all… She is binded by hatred, that makes her fallen from being hero to be just a blind self-righteous warrior… She realized that she was blinded by hatred, but instead of keep moving forward, she chose to follow her personal vendetta? Truly stupid…

    1. She is also butthurt because Mio and Lime clearly rejected her invitation, for once in her life there’s someone she like and don’t like her back to the point choosing under someone else, and I do believe she still feels superior to Makoto somewhere in her heart, if not she won’t need to feel despair for her inability to bring Lime and Mio to her side.

      1. I don’t think jealousy is the basic for her stubbornness. She just think that Makoto is naive. But she forgot that there are lota humanitarian organizations back in Earth. While Makoto said he is a merchant, but he just took a very small profit and to prioritize helping those in needs rather than profit, in some way, his company could be called humanitarian too. But it seemed that Hibiki didn’t realize it at all, and just thinking how naive Makoto is, even thinking that Makoto profited from war…

      2. I was talking about the part where she looked at her hand that grasped nothing but the wind.
I think it’s symbolize how bad she want to have her way with Lime and Mio.

  28. Thank you for the chapter reigokai-san.

Looks like hibiki still don’t know what make’s makoto discriminate towards hyumans and the goddess. Well not all of the hyumans.
Everything goes back to the bug goddess first meeting with makoto. Not only she calls him ugly, she gave him doesn’t even gave him any kind of power except for understanding all kinds of language except for the hyuman language and then proceeds in throwing him to the edge of the world with low chance of survival.
In the second meeting she force him to fight without his own consent or any explanation against sophia and lancer.
Yeah everything starts from the goddess and the hyumans is not helping him much, the first to help him is the demi and monsters who is a lot more understanding than most of the hyumans.

So yes i say it was the goddess that is to blame here. Isn’t the war cause by the goddess discriminating every thing that is ugly by her preference.

Sorry for the long post and the grammer, english is not my first language. And hey this just my opinion.

    1. Who cares about grammar, I probably do worse in some post and no one bats an eye, just enjoy the comment section with no worries.

Well like we always said, no info at all, nor they want to tell her what truly happens in the first place.
But at least I will give her credit to acknowledge her hatred, I wonder if she learns the big picture those anger will lessen somehow ? Or she just don’t care anymore at this point ?

  29. And I didn’t see an email when this chapter came out :[ This chapter is so good, it shows the reason for Hibiki’s naivety and why her ideal clashed with Makoto so much. The authour can over explain things sometimes, but in this chapter, I think he did a splendid job in fleshing out the characters’ flaw of Hibiki, Makoto and to an extent, Mio. This is so good, I want more so badly… But I will patently wait so no rush of course XD

  30. Mio-sama, truly, you are the voice of the audience.

Your words are a reflection of our thoughts and share our feelings with the machinations of the world and the fools that dwell upon it.

Great chapter today, thanks for the update

      1. why did Jinsan comment make me imagining that mio will chop makoto head and then put her head inside her womb like a pregnant woman ….
maybe i really miss to play the School days game… :'(

  31. Lolz. My comments seem like spoilers.

Makoto does not discrimate, there just too many dumb hyumans so his prejudice against them is at an all time low. haha.

    1. There’s no coincidence, only the inevitable.

I believe we need truck-kun help to purify this poor soul.
Let’s begin the ritual for summoning truck-kun.

      1. You’ll need to tribute three monsters to summon Blue Eyes White Truck.
        Cannot be special summoned.

  32. I knew Hibiki is very intelligent, but she really impressed me this chapter to connect all the dots and deduce Makoto’s connection with the mirage town, only from the word ‘refuge’. Too bad her judgement is a bit clouded by her hatred for the demons.

Mio as usual, like a spider she is, just lurks and schemes, only to strike when things get caught in her webs(plans), or when Makoto asks for it.

Thanks as always Reigokai. Since you’re reading all the comments, I’m not going to write long this time, so you can translate more XP

  33. “If Makoto were to become a king, if he were to announce that he would be founding a nation, the hyumans and demons wouldn’t be able to ignore it.”

girl he is already one step from apotheosis, he already made use of creation, you, trashmoki, the demon king, root, or even the bug just need to push him a little and it will be.

    1. Imagined scene from Demon King Makoto *what if*
Makoto : Shiki, how the deployement of mass cursing device ?
Shiki : All device has been stealthily placed in every capital, ready to be deployed ar your command.
Makoto : Tomoe, Root is going to intercept us this time, can I trust you with that ?
Tomoe : for I am has already surpassed ordinary dragon race, my silver color is shining and ready desu-zo, one or three Root won’t be a problem.
Makoto : Mio, we need to preserve our strength for needless bloodshed of civilians, who knows if there’s any demi-human mixed in the city, can you put a big show to crush the morale of enemy soldier ?
Mio : sure desu-wa, but I’m afraid when I’m done there’s no soldier left remaing.
Makoto : That much is fine, they are soldier afterall, we only need to guarantee the life of our demi-human comrades, that’s why Shiki curses are necessary.
Makoto : Then let’s start our war to the world, we will write the shortest war ever recorded !

      …. something like that ?

      1. You know, the shortest war ever recorded would be:

Makoto: *walks into world power conference* I formally declare war on the world. *shoots at image of “hyumans”*

    2. …. I want to believe he will restrain himself from going that, after all there’s still Toa and Rinon, I believe Makoto won’t kill off his “circle”

  34. “That boy doesn’t even have the intention of founding a nation. If he at least had something like that…”
….eh? Didn’t he pretty much already did that in Asora and in the godess world by taking Kalaneon from the demons territories.
(…I see. It is hatred. I can’t forgive the demon race. They have burned many villages, killed many hyumans, and also my comrade…Naval as well. Ah, maybe that’s why.)
Well at least she realized that but that makes her even more hypocrite since it voided more or less all her previous arguments in the previous chapter and…. bitch please do you really think hyumans are saints and never did such a thing before?
Also she was able to understand that Makoto has something akind to a base while once again her theory is only half right though, it’s even worst to makes move based on half right assumptions.
“From what Tomoe said: Hibiki doesn’t know of the standing of the weak”
Yep indeed her who has only be at the top can’t understand that. Well in the end she just a child who doesn’t understand how the world itself trully works.
Well that was a great chapter as usual! Hope it help Makoto moves in a more ineresting way too. Is it weird that I want to see hyumans making a lot of dumb moves for him to takes care of them…well if such a thing happen it will be like 90% Tomoki and the Empire who will try something…. can’t wait to see that!
    Thanks for the chap

    1. As I see it, both Makoto and Hibiki are gray morality wise (somewhat normal, different shades of gray though), while Trashmoki is black (low life scum).

    2. here is my thought about otherworlder

hibiki: she always live with good situations. popular, rich, beautiful, natural born leader, strong, genius in many aspect. this makes her to unintentionally drunk with power. also stated in this chapter that hibiki doesnt know the standing weak.
the bug actually and unintentionally gives her trial to make her realize her standing and changed her view bit by bit for better or worse- who know….

thats also what happen to tomoki, he is really popular and that bait peoples jealously and make them bully him. this makes her to give tomoki charm power. so that he can actually understand how it feels bullying someone and hoping that he actually realize that he’s reflecting. when he meet absolute power like makoto, it would change his view. just like what repeatedly stated in many anime: people can grow by making mistake.

sadly, thats happen to makoto too…. makoto weak in that world due his origin in bug’s world. and after he arrive in this world, he still treated bad so that he actually have a weak mind want to getting stronger. unintentionally make him into power hungry anti villain. by able to communicate with all mamono, the bug might actually hoping that he would actually become the two heroes enemy so that they can grow….

afterall bug isnt god for nothing y’know

      1. Yeah, I call bs. There’s no way that useless thing put any thoughts into her actions, let alone those thoughts. Even her fellow gods view her as a huge disappointment.

    3. people call him king of asora, but he see himself as the landlord, he does really rule and doesn’t see himself has founding a nation. kalaneon is ruled by eva&ema I think. So he does show any feeeling of wanting to found a nation that hibiki could have pick up, and don’t forget that both asora and kaleneon are secrets, there is no way people to admit what they dont know

  35. He doesn’t need to make a county he already has. He could probably decimate most country’s by just letting the wolves attack them and the poverty hit novel updates before this chapter did.

  36. Thanks for the chapter!
Mio and Tomoe guessed Hibiki and Makoto’s nature really well. Mio might be the one to blindly follow Makoto, but Tomoe is I think trying to broaden Makoto’s understanding and point of view.

  37. Contrary to Makoto’s impression Hibiki is surprisingly stupid and naive what comes after the war with demons isn’t peace but rather this would be the mark were hyumans themselves would start a war with each other starting with the Empire were Tomoki would lead it under the pretext of conquering the world since their common enemy the demons are already their slaves. That’s why the real solution to gain peace is to have a very strong neutral organization that would serve as their mediator for peace negotiations and the ones that would control , extinguish the sparks of war which is only the Kuzunoha Company would be capable of

    1. Literally all the moral panic arguments that Hibiki used were improvised attempts to manipulate our rather spineless protagonist. The story has repeatedly shown that she herself plans to immediately go to war against Gritonia after the current genocide ends. This has been confirmed from her own monologues.

The supposed hero is basically a violent narcissist hiding behind a veneer of civility. She’s exploiting everyone and everything she can to construct a scenario where she comes out as the mother of some grand nation. She produces countless rationalizations for her behavior, but in the end she moves on petty and selfish motives. Casual betrayal of allies, holding the spiritual leader of an allied nation hostage, grooming the heir to the most powerful noble family as her adherent, using the protagonist’s clear goodwill and naivete to extract information, plotting against her benefactor Mio, and more. These are not the actions of an idealist.

As an aside you ought to keep in mind that she has a mind altering power very similar to Tomoki’s. In her case it instills feelings of awe and reverence, leading the victims to defer to her judgement and eventually become zealous followers/worshippers.

      1. To be a little fair to Hibiki, Lily has plans of her own for Limia, after the war ends. Birds of a feather and all that, I suppose?

You know, I kind of find their optimism endearing (in the watching a clumsy 3 year old bumbling about kind of way).

Even after the heroes arrived, Hyumans have yet to achieve anything we can call a victory against Demons. Not only did their great attempt at pushing the Demons back end in a complete disaster, but they also got caught with their pants down with the Variant incident. The Demons used both opportunities to outmaneuver the Hyuman forces and strike at Limia’s capital.

If not for the Bug reaching deep into her bag of miracles and pulling out Makoto, twice in a row, forget Limia, there wouldn’t even be a Gritonia around by now.

So I find it cute how both Lily and Hibiki are already thinking about after the war, like it will end any day now in their favor, and that they assume their countries will be left in a state where they can actually still do anything, at all.

As for Hibiki’s power, to me it doesn’t seem anywhere near as potent as Tomoki’s. Remember, that she was only able to influence young nobles to her way of thinking (like that Hopelace kid). She has expressed before how frustrated she was with the older nobles and their shortsightedness. That they didn’t heed her advice to move the capital to a more strategic location, and probably other stuff as well. That doesn’t sound like a bunch that was being controlled by her Charisma.

We just do not have enough information to figure out just how her gift of Charisma actually works.

But, to me it seems that those who are already set in their ways are unlikely to be “dominated” (for lack of a better word) by that power. At most, they’ll have a more favorable opinion towards her, and therefore more likely to consider her words, rather than outright dismissing them.

I think her true gift from Bug, was not the power to influence people, but to draw strength from those whom she influenced in her favor. So the gift of Charisma makes it easier for people to open up to her, to the point where they form a connection to her (like the faithful do to their god), which in turn allows her to draw their power through that connection.

Hmmm, you know, given Bug’s sloppy personality, she probably took shortcuts with the heroes’ gifts, the same she did with Makoto’s gift of language comprehension, and for Hibiki she simply copy-pasted the divine ability to draw power from the faithful. Then she removed some features and reduced the potency, then called it the gift of Charisma.

Since it’s just a power to create a connection with others and use it to draw power from them, it seems like a much “Smaller” gift than comprehension of every language in the multiverse, minus the ability to speak Hyuman. So something Hibiki’s smaller vessel can easily contain.

          1. Hahaha that’s an interesting scenario.

I bet Tomoki would be a lost cause (in a different sense than now).

I think the only reason he could get “close” to others, is because he could Charm them. Otherwise he’d be too much of a coward to go around and create the necessary connections with people. He would be the Hikikomori Hero.

I have this image of Lily taking him out of a closet whenever she needs his power, then putting him back after use. Like the tool that he is.

As for Hibiki, I think we all know what would happen… 😀

  38. Thanks 4 the chapter!

Makes me wonder how Hibiki would fare when given a Kobayashi Maru scenario.
And Makoto technically is a leader of a nation, a world even, it’s just no one outside his company knows about it. Except for the Gods from Earth.

  39. hibiki finally see she is the same as makoto. boo boo and u still dare to judge people. chiya so cute hahaha. for the crack it might be the losing of his humanity through violent act like when he killed the adventure. I will still say let the sleeping dragon sleep. talking about. dragon…. could waterfall be brainwash by bug????

    1. I don’t think she’s. The power Makoto showed when he fought….who was it? Dragon slayer. Well, it just overwhelmed Waterfall with fear. She had just been killed by that dragon slayer, which is a bad girl and really strong. Now someone even stronger with enmity to the goddess appeared. Thinking like: what if he decide to destroy the world? That power is too much for a hyuman. He won’t use the power for good sakes, etc. And lead her to what she’s doing now. Fear will clouded one’s mind, I conclude!

      1. Mind if I quote Yoda real quick?

“Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate… leads to suffering” –Yoda, Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace

Sorry, but your words right there reminded me of that.

        1. Oh, is that how it went? I’ve seen it twisted around I don’t even know the original quote anymore.

Last I remembered, it was “Fear leads to hate. Hate leads to violence. Violence leads to destruction.”

  40. Hibiki has always been praised even in earth.

SS with Makoto’s sister shows that Waka-sama has never tasted being on the strong side, he was weak when he was a child since his body cannot adapt to Earth. He’s a Hyuman, not a human. His body trained itself to be able to adapt to the environment which made him not so weak in earth anymore.

Either way, Hibiki just shows how people normally are in this war situation. If she was sent into the same environment as Makoto, have her try to survive a harsh world. She might have the same path as Makoto.

      1. err…. what do you mean by ‘fight hand in combat’ do you mean
: – ‘Makoto and Hibiki fight side by side’
        – ‘Makoto and Hibiki fight with each other’ ?
if the first, its almost impossible unless there’s something that snap makoto to ‘battle mode’ that have the coincidentally have the same enemy with hibiki (since makoto already state that he NEUTRAL)
if the second, the answer will always GET REKT, hibiki cant even defeat Mio , heck even Makoto in ‘super low stats Materia Prima and slow regen mode’ only get to hurt him a bit (if in FULL-FRONTAL mode, she wont be able to made even a slight cip on his Materia Prima)

        1. No well what I meant is that fight between Makoto and Hibiki…. I just want to know which one’s pure strength is better since both came from Earth. But Makoto’s body only able to adapt there while Hibiki purely Human. …..Ah, sorry if it’s hard to understand.

          1. In a physical figth, without magic, Hibiki migth be faster but Makoto has more strengh, remember when he fough Shen in the desert, he didn’t use any phisical boost and his punch where hard enough for a Superior Drangon compared it to be hitted with a brick. So we can asumme that in that World his base physical stats are on par with beings such a Superior Dragons and such, I don’t think that Hibiki or Tomoki are at that level.

          2. See, the tricky thing with this is that at this point, Makoto’s mana was unlocked and he recieved the entirety of Tsukuyomi’s power.

It’s not too far fetched to imagine that gave him some crazy physical power boost too.

The only way to get a “fair” comparison would be if they arm wrestled or something on Earth. I guess it’s worth mentioning that someone said using bows takes more strength than kendo.

          3. My friend I will have to disagree with you there, it hasn’t been mentioned if he used magic in that figth for anything else more that fire brids. I don’t know if in a unconciouss level he was using body reinforcement, but thats a magic the we haven’t been shown Makoto using, and he didn’t even had an idea of what Sakai was at that figth (if my memorie serve’s me rigth, can’t trust that bastard). Besides he went three days, with out eating or drinking water in the desert, with extreme temperature changes and barely noticing it, he went though a B ranked monster like he was tofu, all that only by his body stats in that world alone, I don’t believe that either Hibiki or Tomoki could do those things on physical level alone. Now on earth if they fough as an archer and a swordman, well I don’t think that Hibiki would ever guet the chance to guet close enough to him to make her status as a swordman matter. But I am a Makoto fan boy so don’t trust to mutch in my previsions.

          4. No, you’re right. I didn’t think that Makoto was really “using” his magic combatively besides what we saw.   What I was saying was speculation that having all of Moonbro’s power and all that mana in him gave him a stronger body in itself.

Let’s see…ah. Think Makoto’s body as a balloon, and all the power swelling inside him as air or water. Because he has so much power inside him, the force from him hitting anything around him is already stronger than it waa before.

This is admittedly still speculation, but my point is that just having that power could have skewed Makoto’s physical power too much for a “fair” comparison.

          5. Ok, I haven’t think of that, I don’t buy it, but is a valid point. Although Tsuki-bro said that since he was a hyuman that adapted to earth without any blessing or assistance he should be stronger that both Heroes, I don’t know if it was refering to his Magic power or overall.

      2. by fight between do you mean in a sense without power ? (pure PRIME-EARTH strength) or fight with the blessing of gods ? (in which it definitelly Makoto wins because hibiki will absolutely getting REKTED, she cant even win again Mio, how the heck she can even win again Makoto who can even maim Athena, a god of war)

      3. hmm… in pure PRIME-EARTH strength huh…. i cant give answer for that since for that thing we need to know the side-stories , since hibiki learn about kendo and makoto is archery…even though makoto learn a lot of other martial art basic before focusing solely on archery

  41. “And, you were…a pure white hyuman-shaped form with no features.” (Chiya)

Something like a white doll? (My thoughts: I think the featureless white is there because Makoto’s personality he shows to the world is the “Truth” of his being, a what you see is what you get kinda deal. So the inside is blank because he is already his “true” self. Also quite fitting with the fact that Makoto’s name itself means “Truth.”)

I imagine Makoto looks something like Truth (that white featureless thing with a mouth we see in Full Metal Alchemist during those times through “the Gate”) excluding the mouth, and then you just need to add an eggshell like crack with an unspeakable thing lurking inside (his emotionless battle mode, or maybe that supreme emptiness that Makoto saw in his final glimpse of alternate Makoto?) as well as the chains in one hand and divine bow in the other. Guess Priestess omitted the chains since it was kinda implied what with it being attached to Mio’s choker, and the bow because she didn’t wish to detract from the darkness within. Or maybe because the bow and archery being an integral part of his being are rather self-explanatory? In any case, I wonder if Chiya if bewildered by the gap of Makoto’s personality and the thing?

  42. After reading Yukiko’s POV and rereading the first chapters I deduce that Makoto is a Sis-con.

Makoto’s imagination if his PC secrets wrere discovered: “What Otouto! Could it be that he has been looking at me with those kind of eyes?!”(Makoto’s older sister/Nee-chan) [*Little brother]
    NOOOOOOO!!! STOP IIIITTT!!!!! (Makoto)

      1. Maybe he didn’t have a chance too. He did go into a deep sleep after giving his power to Makoto. Makoto sucked more of his power than he thought after all.

      2. I think Moon-bro was only supposed to wipe the data. Makoto then asked his sister to also pour water on it and take a hammer to it. You know, sensible precautions. You just can’t be too careful when it comes to stuff like that.

  43. #1 – [But even when he said such outrageous things, the only strong reactions I got from him were with the Goddess, and…his discrimination towards hyumans.

Because it would mean that a country that surpasses all the currently existing countries in military power will be born all of a sudden.]

#2 – [“That’s because Waka-sama doesn’t care if it’s hyuman of demi-human after all. He would help out the demi-humans that are troubled, but that’s all. What’s important for that personage is his own circle. And from the hyumans that I have seen, there was an abundance of idiots, so his preference turned into demi-humans, that’s all. It is so simple, and yet…everyone can’t understand it. That’s just strange-desu wa.” (Mio)]

#1 – Yep, if only he had the drive. Or at least made a compromise with Hibiki and the Limia King. Found his own Nation outside of Asora(it wouldn’t even be any different since he will just leave it to hid aides anyway. More hellish work for them), with the Limia Hero and King supporting him(throw in Lorel as well), the other hyuman countries would be pinned. And since he have a connection with Zef, he could open a conferrence between the King with Hibiki and Zef and his officials all while Kuzunoha becomes the intermediary as well as overseer for any violent acts. Since Zef owes Makoto big time, he is bound to give it a shot.

As much as Hibiki goes, arrange a duel between the two(Io). Life or death. Or a simple surrender. Then they can continue.
As for the radicals, or opposition, within each country it would simple be best if they are erased in the background by Kuzunoha. Because honestly, compared to the deaths that the war could produce, killing off greedy and incompetent nobles of each race is much more productive.

#2 pretty much sums up Makoto’s mindset with regards to his stance on hyumans, demons and demis. Although, one other thing Mio and Hibiki got wrong is that, he has Toa and co. as well as the Rembrandt family.

like what the Author has pointed out, Mio only looks at Makoto. And maybe his loyal followers as well… a bit. Probably? So her thinking is more on the Yan side than dere.

while Hibiki is somewhat perceptive enough to infer something from his words about a safe haven. It’s the limit to think of a mirage town as his base, which is really a feat for her with limited info which makes her a good asset for the country. She’s also level headed enough to evaluate herself after their talk was done. Hibiki just got another character development. Which makes me wonder if Tomoki will as well. Makoto is immune to it so… and even if he does(which is quite often really), it has very little to no effect at all. Or at least, I can’t really see it during the following chapters aside from his usual power up and growing more OP.

As for Chiyo, it was a good follow up after the conversation with Hibiki, it felt spontaneous to me, she didn’t even bother to muddle her way through, instead gave it to him straight. Which is a good thing since this “visit” is taking too long. Though I said that, it’s definitely the best few chapters I’ve read in this novel in a while. This Limia visit was certainly worth reading. Or maybe it’s just me lacking in Vitamin King, of the Soma variety.

    Cheers for the chapter~

      1. Good thing since I’d hate for Makoto to fall for manipulation under the guise of moral schooling from a self admitted hypocrite.

  44. yep….having limitless power means the chance to get drowsy(in a relaxed way) even after this long series of complicated-conversation with hibiki…..so please don’t change that way of thinking of his author~~

    Thanks for the Hard-work!!

  45. Thanks for the chapter. Man keeping up with all the comments is so hard especially when some of them are 20-30 sentences sometimes. Now on to my comment for this chapter, great realisation from Hibiki, nice talk with the priestess that triggered a will for self improvement from makoto that hopefully sticks with him, Mio being Mio in the shadow. Feel sorry for hibiki that she needs to beat the demons for the war to end then she has to beat tomoki for the world to be safe from being mindless zombies then she needs to stop makoto trying to fight the goddess without any plans of ensuring some form of peace in the chaos after it

  46. I’ve got the feeling that the chappy seems somewhat shorter than usual.
Oh well, thanks for the chapter reikogai-dono.

  47. Just……… why doesnt makoto just let the demons live in azora?

it’ll solve their problem of having no farming land to live, the war ends with no casualties, and the demons are well aware they cant cause a ruckus under his nose. like, at least ask the demon lady about it, not like she can tell anyone, you know?

    1. remember, the demons mostly want Blood-Pay, they want the hyuman shed their bloods for all the year of oppresion and Makoto only allow those who wish to migrate after throw away all of their hatred (since most of the migrate people are those who doesnt care about the conflict between hyuman and demons and stay neutral)

    2. They want Hyuman blood but that’s not all, due to their nature of respecting the strong they see the goddess as un-touchable but if they could reach out and grab her throat then this whole jealousy war would end.

    3. Because the demons frankly cannot be trusted. Generational buildup of hatred, lingering sentiment toward their goddess, refusal to accept parity with species they have traditionally ruled over, and on the list goes.

A portion of the demons might be acceptable, and have in fact already been accepted! However, as an entire migrating civilization it’d be a disaster for the residents of Asora. Do remember that there is a massive waiting list for species that want to escape their horrific circumstances by migrating. There’s a reason why there are such strict entry criteria in place.

    4. Give too much and people tend to ask for more.People with too much PRIDE and Hatred like the Main Demon race do not deserve salvation unless they save themselves from that hate that dooms their race.

  48. White featurless man. . . a crack on him. . . .

I don’t know why i picture it as Full Metal Alchemist’s the white man infront of the gate of truth. . . and the crack is something like inner side of the gate

  49. Mmhmm…. so hibiki really a smart-ass , but like what mio said, its naive. And wow!! For Lime’s real target is Tomoe, i’ll kill you!! Just go to Hibiki already and ill throw my pineapple grenade in your ship already!

  50. THANKS FOR THE CHAPTER!
Didn’t comment last chapter because the talk didn’t seem finished but now that it is, I’m kinda confused Hibiki seems to be reaching for the BEST result which is getting favors from Makoto and co just to delay the goddess’s death and advance the war, while also waiting for the demon’s big move and crush them. This novel seems to be coming to an end huh. Gritonia will soon make it’s last move against Kuzunoha which is funny since they are at war with the demons. Limia decided to poke the lion while advancing their own schemes or more like Hibiki’s vendetta which could in fact go either way (Makoto kills Bug after Lo is dead or Kills Bug before). All concerned parties know of Kuzunoha so at least introductions are out of the way.

    1. Trust me, there’s way more out there. Don’t forget, I was the idiot who read ahead by forcing themselves to understand the incoherent clumps of text that Google Translate gave me. There is no actual chapter number, but there’s a long way to go. So… it’s not ending just yet.

      1. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well it can be taken as spoiler but thanks, I kinda thought there were 50-80 chapters left but good to know there aren’t but if the goddess fight isn’t happening at those chapters then what the hell is the author doing seriously. At this rate we won’t see his visit to the god realms and just get a happy ending title saying “Makoto ascended to godhood The end”

        1. Correction, it would only count as a spoiler if I had given you the exact number of chapters. As I don’t know the exact number of chapters (or even the number of the last raw that I have read), there was no way that even Spoiler-san could spoil that.

  51. Thanks for the chapter.
Mio the spy, she will be dancing on her web tonight after Hibiki fell head first into her design.

  52. I’d just like to point out that Hibiki’s morality has been on the side of “completely monstrous” since the moment the story told us she consented to the summoning. Willingly volunteering to take part in a war of genocide makes you a villain no matter how you try to spin it.

It really feels like the author completely forgot those basic details when trying to use that character as the source of all this moralizing.

    1. This is the goddess we are talking about, she probably left out any information that would put a negative impression of herself or the hyumans. Like how the demons are horribly oppressed and that this is their last ditch attempt at survival or how all this is happening because she took a 200 year nap. So you cant say that Hibiki’s morals have been shit even before she became the hero.

    2. her “morality” is all about number, as stated in the previous chapter. that mean if sacrificing 1 thousand people will save 1 million, she will consent to do it .

aren’t all wars more or less a genocide?
don’t forget that a hero is given a sword, he is expected to kill, and thus you can label him as ‘villain’ with your criteria

The author started by showing her as a ‘perfect’ hero, and make her slide slowly into a very aggressive and radical person, I don’t think the author tried to keep her ‘flawless’ until the end.

      1. What? No, all wars are not genocidal. Genocide is explicitly the extermination of a specific population. It’s where you make efforts to kill every man, woman, and child of an entire demographic within reach.

A “hero” sent to slaughter an entire species simply because they’re not human is in fact a villain, yes. In the same way a soldier who willingly participates in a massacre is as well. You could make a case for coercion, but in this case the heroes are in fact the coercive force over their assigned nations. A common issue the more “serious” versions of these kind of shallow JRPG plots wrestle with is the fact that the cliche hero summoned to fight the demons/maou/whatever are often little more than assassins or indiscriminate killers if viewed objectively. Normally they get a pass as part of genre conceit, but when the author delves into the setting morality in this way these things become part of the narrative.

As for the author’s intent, he pretty early on showed her as being a realpolitik adhering conqueror at best. Going back at least as far as her first meeting with Makoto. At that time she was already planning to kill Tomoki and annex Gritonia, while having daydreams of using the “Devil” do the dirty work.

        1. the demons are targeted because they invaded hyumans.

Heroes aren’t necessary saints or people with outstanding noble values, and in that sense Tomoki and Hibiki are both heroes.
even if you say “genocide” on the other site they are saving millions of hyumans too.

      2. I don´t think the author tried to make anyone flawless in this story, every one no matter how flawless are in one area have a major weakness in the other, thats what makes his characters so interesting, and not unidimentional. By the way your answer made me remember this article that I just caugh in Discus http://screenrant.com/marvel-dc-killer-movie-superheroes/ a relly good one for me.

  53. Thanks for the chapter, Reigo-senpai.

Anyone remember that hint I gave a couple chapters back? The one about hatred running deep? This was what I meant by that. Hibiki’s hatred for the Demon race, or at least just Io is what truly separates her from Makoto. The other things she said about chaos is true, but that’s the main thing. When I first read this in the raws (incoherent clumps of text thanks to Google Translate), any possibilities of shipping her with Makoto died. They are just too incompatible, despite being from the same word.

In the other possible realities from Makoto’s dreams, this might had been different. Remember the one where Trashmoki’s party found him first? If there was that unfavorable possibility, there’s also one somewhere where Hibiki found him first as well. At least a possibility anyways. Still… if she had found him first, who knows what might have happened? At least in that possible reality, I could had shipped them.

Back to the actual reality, that ship sunk a long time ago. Makoto could never look at his senpai in the same way as she adapted that world’s common sense. We don’t know if he only admired her from afar back in Japan, but that was in Japan. In this world, she’s a hero chosen by the Goddess first and a human second.

  54. Ah, all of this conflict and chess mastering broken by unreasonable strength and unreasonable logic. So here is the “corner” the whole world thinks it has just been put in. Makoto is so unreasonably powerful that destroying a country or two is a given and people honestly believe he will do it if they piss him off. Major powers in the world would be content if he just chose no side but kept out of the conflict all together but that somehow doesn’t deter those same major powers to think of ways to take advantage of him. Hibiki had the highest chance of restraining Makoto but the discrimination both have all but shattered that hope, the best they can hope for is that Makoto will not antagonize Hibiki. Finally and I can’t believe this actually came up, both sides of the war might be so hellbent on keeping it going that they will drop what they are doing and fight against Makoto just to make sure he doesn’t stop the war. It’s glorious.

Makoto will help both sides of the war because he can’t see something awful happen and let it pass. That indirectly will cause the war to lengthen, and subsequently cause more losses. Makoto’s solution is to discipline the goddess and hope for the best, note that it will probably cause the hyumans to lose all their blessings and power. Hibiki’s plan is to play the long game and hope the future generations can take up the mantle, note there is a high probability that hyumans will just keep doing as hyumans do given the effects of the goddess. And… I forget his name the other hero just wants a harem, note that he easily gets this and is unsatisfied. He is going insane I swear.

Actually the world is one way or another kind of fucked in this set up. Not that Makoto can’t solve all the problems that arise from him disciplining the goddess, but he probably won’t he doesn’t care enough about that world. Not that Hibiki’s plan wouldn’t word, but the goddess influence would not allow it.

Ah but this is all kind of useless cause Makoto would just love it if everyone would leave him the fuck alone and in peace. I understand the necessity is the mother of invention and progress but… this world is literally overflowing with creatures that would love to tear every last living being a new one. I don’t think the intelligent creatures have to fight among themselves.

    1. “Not that Hibiki’s plan wouldn’t word…”
Really have to point out that Hibiki doesn’t have the conviction of her words for this ‘plan’. How can she expect Demon’s to ‘work’ their way up from slavery when (aside from the obvious Bug’s persistant influence) she herself has no heart to forgive the Demons.
She blew her chance to convince Makoto to be an unopposable neutral arbitration force just so that she can kill more Demon for revenge. How? By accusing him of Hyuman discrimination and not acknowledging her POV’s neutrality is to favor Hyuman’s to kill more Demons (like Bug with her free hand-outs). Its hard to argue against this from her own self confessions from this chapter.
Hibiki is the last person at this point to make any moral rebuke to Makoto and from past chapters I am glad to not have made that mistake.

      1. Just to clarify: ” Last person anyone NEEDS (since she herself is such a terrible moral standard bearer).”

  55. i have been thinking this quite a lot, why wouldn’t the demon race makes a migration to asora?
no war, no inhabitable environment, no discrimination, even the goddess might approve of it

    1. you do remember that Makoto have certain qualification for the migration and the demons doesnt know the existence of Asora (he only accept those who wish to live in peace without any lingering affection in the world of BUG, since most of the demons want the blood of hyuman, which makoto doesnt like he always act Neutral)

    2. You’ll get that soon enough after Makoto talk to Zef. This world is basically hopeless in the present time and the only hope left for any peaceful solution is to hope in the future or a show of absolute power that will make every country stops before it.

    3. do you remember demon king’s child that become makoto’s slave (i forgot her name: rona? no shes the general. i mean the loli demon)? she said it clearly that the current demon king act as whole demon race. what they want now is hyumanity to destroy. land is number two

one more… i also remember that when makoto talk with zef, he also ask him whether they would stop war if demon has a new land-
its hinted that he MIGHT allow them to migrate to asora
but zef refuse, stating that hyuman destruction is what the demon race wants.

makoto’s demon slave also mention that if she become demon king, she wont hesitate to ask makoto’s permission to migrate the demon race and stopping war.

    4. Plus it would alert everyone when a whole major nation disappears, so far the only groups taken to asora were ignored by all the major powers in the world

  56. There is so much that could be commented on but…..I’ll give the first half of the chapter another read and just comment on others comment. That sounds more fun…

  57. This:“The hyumans, the demons, and that one above, are really annoying. Waka-sama is saying that he doesn’t have any interest, so you should just go kill among yourselves as much as you want in a place that Waka-sama’s eyes don’t reach-desu. Seriously.” (Mio)

    Reaction:THANK YOU Mio , Thank You 😀 .

    This:
“But I who can’t even grasp the circumstances and tendencies of my company employees, this is just a heavy talk.I can’t do it, but I should at least make an effort huh.I should try to pursue what I can do.”

Reaction: Makoto finally decides to think about responsibility huh. Nice go for it. Tsukuyomi-sama will always be with you.

Tsukuyomi:“This kind of situation. Originally, the role of the hero that was supposed to be yours was taken away by the goddess itself so, you don’t have to hold back. By the name of Tsukuyomi I permit it. You, Misumi Makoto. I give you freedom in this new world. Do what you want!”

    1. “Do what you want! Cause a pirates lives free! You are a pirat!”

Makoto-kami is pirat now! Thanks to Tsukuyomi-sama!

      1. Actual rules from pirates:
        lights out at 8pm
no bringing women (or boys) onboard
        no gambling
        clean your weapons
        band gets the sundays off

  58. Thank you reigokai. We appreciate the new chapter.

I really liked this chapter, it was short, but it was a nice conclusion to the previous ones.

Also, you get to see quite a bit about each person. You see the maniacal Mio who cares only for her sleeping, little, cat, prince. You see Hibiki realizing she is hypocritical thanks to her vendetta, but not caring about it and specifically avoiding realizing it. You also see how straight-forward Makoto is, thanks to his statement “to continue with the bow at all costs”. This then implies much about what was previously said about Makoto’s wilful ignorance. Makoto is a lot smarter than we did give him credit for, his inferiority complex just isn’t helping it much.

I also like how Chiya interacted with him, although it took her Mind’s Eye (that’s what it is called) to realize that he isn’t just a dragon, but more along the lines of the immortal dragon god in terms of strength and volatility. It was also refreshing to see Makoto not hating any hyuman on sight.

All in all, we see much character development. I like it.

    1. — Earthquake, tsunami, eruption, tornado…he is close to those. —
Congratz Makoto, ur MONSTERNESS quality has been approve by Hibiki…
      XD…

      — (Just that, when it comes from the mouth of Makoto, it doesn’t feel that strange. Refuge huh. A safe place. In other words, he has a place where no matter if the world has fallen into chaos, he is able to secure safety. —
Bingo, that’s why he didn’t want to become a king or a god…
      :3…

      — “I see. Well, the talk felt similar to that, Gentle Large Tree-san.” (Makoto)
      “Hah?” (Lime)
“The white featureless one will go to sleep now. Good night.” (Makoto)
      “Okay…Good night, Boss.” (Lime) —
That day, Lime can sleep even a blink till morning…
      XD…

      A little typo?
if it’s hyuman of demi-human after all.
if it’s hyuman -or- demi-human after all. ???

      1. Well, under different circumstances, it’s possible that Hibiki would be willing to work under Makoto. Though I don’t think there will be any romantic relationship.

      1. i think it’s like the usual light at the end of the tunnel comparison. chiya thinks that’s a savior/guiding light of the exit/future. anyone aware of her hypocrisy and stupid manipulative decisions against makoto would say it’s the train light about to ram her ignorant arrogant ass in the face.
also, it could be like how light has no mass, her promises of the future are empty with no substance.

  59. At last makoto, you know about that something inside. Maybe TOMOE will want to meet the priestess to examine her memories (poor TOMOE, let MAKOTO give her affection) HIBIKI as always hypocrite and only wants to get the leading role of the world. Come on TOMOKI, kill hibiki and do something good for once in your life. When it looks like hibiki is going to change for good, it throws everything away. Makoto better god than the goddess bitch. That course will take the race of the demons, after MAKOTO speaks with zef, and you are a god accept it all the kingdoms are going to lower the head. I hope that the new follower will make him see his position and remove the load of TOMOE. I recommend you read a little of the symptomism, that nasty thing hidden in MAKOTO can the sins of the father of TSUKUYOMI in his mortal body, in addition to the innate talent that I reject MAKOTO when practicing the archery. Everything points to that MAKOTO had tendency to the destruction or the darkness

  60. Thanks for the chapter~

Spoiler-san said: “Hibiki and Joshua will reform Lamia. Raidou indirectly greatly contributed on it too”

    1. Raizu ~! Fancy seeing you here!

Hey, you know, my sister is a fan of yours. Actually… Can I get your autograph? It’s for my sister. Please?
See you behind the stage, yeah?

        1. Well…how do I put this…

When an engineer and a manufacturing complex love each other veeeeerry much(or at least decide that it’s profitable to do so)…

  61. Thanks for the translation. I understand where makoto is coning from. He is just soneone with all the power but none of the direction. Just like a kid being given a CEO position. Now Makoto needs to learn what to do with his powers lest he becomes a natural disaster.

  62. Just wonder, if that “crack” on his “hyuman-shape featureless entity” 1st appear when he 1st felt hatred toward those that cause the death of the resident in his “Asora”? Seem possible though.
    Thanks for the chapter.

    1. its possible, since that event is the first time he conciously want to kill people (not like when he kill the demons that standing in the place where Shin(Tomoe) sleeping, that time he was just trying to shoot the brid and accidently kill them)

    2. I have my own theory. It’s not a spoiler as Spoiler-san’s away. Still, here’s my theory:

It has something to do with why Makoto cannot get past level one and has almost infinite mana, he has no cap. That crack is where all that mana leaks out, he’s unable to contain it all. If it weren’t for his rings absorbing so much of it, he would probably be bigger on the Bug’s radar. Remember the thing about the Demon King before we met him? He noticed a third presence, with the heroes being the first two. He noticed how powerful it was compared to the other two, and he feared it. As for the creature lurking inside that Chiya saw through the crack… I’m still thinking.

      1. It may not be because he has no cap but maybe it is continuously used for his sakai. I mean sakai can do anything right? And that crack may be because he is already breaking free from his mortal bindings? If we try to look at previous chaps we see that tsukuyomi has given him creation which in some way cannot be used by mortals but he did and that may be his deification he created asora through tomoe and maybe that level one may have already broken through the max so it only shows 1. The potato theory

      2. The spanish speakers here had some comments about the real power of Makoto since they already have read all the SS of the gods and people in earth.

The only spoiler I will say is: that crack is maybe his original gift, not the bow one, but a rare one only a few people in history had.

      3. I agree with Alex’s theory. It could be his dormant talent. One that he reprise inside himself and refuse to accept.

  63. can’t say i expected Chiya to tell the truth to be honest, though she’d avoid him or avoid talking about it but i’m glad that didn’t happen.

  64. So I hope I wasn’t the only one who really loved Makoto’s little talk with Chiya.

I don’t even know exactly why. Something about it was just…pleasant. Makoto hilariously treated her like a child, and Chiya spoke to him with an honesty that made me feel refreshed.

Just flat out “Here’s what I saw.” followed by “Please don’t unleash the scary eldritch thing inside you”. After all the probing, planning, countermeasures, and everything, I can empathize with Makoto’s feeling tired and this was very welcome.

I wonder what she thinks of him now? Whatever the case, I wouldn’t mind more talks between the two in the future.

    1. same, at least in here Chiya know a bit about Makoto feeling (i think) since the last time she though about him, she doesnt want for anyone to talk or making any contact fo makoto (for fella)
and about the Eldritch inside…. chiya you might give some concern for that matter to Hibiki so she doesnt poke the THING inside of him more from now on, at least you’re the more logical person in her party

    2. You are certainly not the only one, the conversation made me giggle… I was satisfied that Makoto decided to at least try to act according to his power…

    3. She probably made him think of his little sister, or some neighbor’s kid. I was was half hoping he would give her some Asora brand candies, the kind that aren’t even on the market yet.

    4. I’m rather puzzled by her word choice.
Repulsive. Does she mean the thing inside Makoto is ugly?
I did not get that picture form her earlier pov about the vision, terrifying, alien, maybe even malevolent, but not ugly.
And the word choice may not be the best, considering that Makoto has issues about his looks.

      1. try imagining Pride in Alphonse metal body (you have watched FMA, yes ? ) when Alphone got possesed by Pride its look just like that, something that lurking inside of a body

        1. Speaking of FMA, I just learned that there’s going to be a live action of it coming out this year. I really hope they don’t screw this up. I was disappointed enough over SnK’s live action, and I love FMA a lot more than SnK.

      2. I took it as a literal description. It was a “thing” that made her want to pull back as if it was repelling her. Threatening, frightening, unwanted.

Eldritch would be a good word if it existed in this world.

      3. dicky satria: I know what she described earlier, my point is that she is poorly communicating what she saw now, causing a misunderstanding that would have been easy to avoid, had she spent either extra sentence to explain her meaning, or used the word terrifying instead.

Psychronia: Then she made an awfull word choice, because almost nobody ever uses the word repulsive to describe someone except as anything but ugly, and that’s how Makoto took it.

    5. Chiya is still a kid, she is trying hard to be more mature and all that, but on the end, she is a kid, and that is refreshing, it makes me wish she’d change sides and follow makoto.

      1. Right? It’s unrealistic, but that single brief conversation made me want her and Makoto to spend some more time together.

I’m curious to hear them talk even more about each other, and probably Hibiki.

  65. Finally, someone gives some concrete explanations about his motives, and why Hibiki is as twisted as Trashmoki, just in a different way.

    Thanks for the chapter 😀

  66. Okay, Hibiki finally understands. She’s being driven by hatred, by the weight and desires of those around her. But she won’t change her thoughts, and tempting the Mirage Town is something best avoided. I do not know what is going through her head. Stop poking the dragon, just stop it! The dragon is telling you to leave it alone, you’re being told to leave it alone and you’re STILL trying to find its nest. And what do you intend to do once you find it? Hibiki obviously hasn’t thought about what happens if she finds the Kuzanoha company headquarters. If they’re trying to keep things secret, does she think they’d just let her go, no questions asked?

And the writer was right, Hibiki doesn’t know the struggles of the weak and pathetic. I doubt she’s gone a day in her life without a meal and water. Makoto was thrown into the most dangerous place in the world, with nothing. And even when he got Asora, he was beaten down by the Calamity spider. He won, in a way, but he was brought low. Then came the last village, where he was attacked due to his leaking power. Everything has stepped on him, disrespected him, treated him either like nothing or an enemy. He’s has to scratch and claw for each positive word, each reassuring pat on the back. Even with all his power, he’s had nothing handed him freely, and has everyone try to use or exploit him.

He has a country, Hibiki, one greater and more unified than anything in the bugs world. Everyone there wants him to be their king, their god, but he doesn’t feel worthy. He doesn’t try to fulfill their expectations, to be a figurehead. He doesn’t match around with a band and banner, screaming for all to bow to his power. He just walks forward, through storm and seas and earth. If you bow to him, he doesn’t care, if you don’t, he doesn’t care. But if you step in front of him, or behind him, he cares.

Step before him, and he will stop you into the earth without a second throught. Stand behind him, and he will protect you from the wind, and fire and storms, and bring swift vengenge to those who would harm you.

    1. I feel that it’s worth noting that it’s not so much that Hibiki’s never tasted bitterness, or even defeat(after coming to this world). It’s that Hibiki’s never lived without victory or had it truly denied her. She doesn’t understand the idea of “even if you try hard, it’s no use”, which is slightly different than being blessed with everything.

Even if she’s a little less likable now, I think we’ve gotten a much better grasp of Hibiki’s personality these past few chapters. She had always been in a more grey area up until now.

      1. I actually like her a little more, now that we can better understand her motives. It’s a much better feeling to know she is completely off the table as a ship now though.

      1. but that is mostly because of those already behind him, the rest of the unqualified would be swept by the storms created from him moving forward.

    2. @Jeffrey McNeil

      That was dog-darnit beautiful!

I agree completely, though. I just wonder what it will take for them to finally catch the attention of Makoto – in the sense of a king/god.

      1. Do you mean what it would take for Makoto to take his rightful position as the true ruler of Asora, or for the other nations to realise who and what he is?

I don’t think he will ever sit down and say “I’m your god now.” He just doesn’t have that personality. I see him just naturally growing into it. Ever so slowly, he back straightens, his voice grows more confident, and I believe the breaking point will come at the point where the hyuman nation is broken at the hands of Tomoki’s charm magic. As I posted in the last chapter, Tomoki is bring complete ruin to the hyuman race. His charm power will infect the majority of the people, and he will die at the hands or scheme of Princess Lily, and that will be that. Hyumanity is done, gone and broken. And that is the moment Makoto will step up.

He’s not blind or stupid, but a man of his words. He cannot openly confront Tomoki, or he becomes an enemy of hyumanity, and breaks his oath of the goddess. He simply cannot interfere until that moment; until he can act with abandon, until there is no chance of him becoming a direct enemy of hyumanity. And when you’re the only one left, when no one else can stand up and rouse the remaining people, a king must.

That will be the moment he will become a true king and god.

      2. I meant both, but more along the lines of the following @dicky satria:

Makoto is gently strolling along on the wide open ocean creating the gulf that was created by God in the Red Sea in the Bible for Moses and the Isrealites. You can see a long trail of people walking in the gulf, but only Makoto is aimlessly walking about ontop of the surface. Come typhoon, storm, or predators, he merely walks, destroying what is in his path, ignoring all else.

Finally after some time, he realises, there is a commotion behind me, and also from his sides. He then finally looks to see millions upon millions of people, monsters, and other living creatures following in the gulf he created, due to the abundance of food and pure water in what is left. He looks to the front to finally see that there is something ahead which might block his path, an island, sharks, etc. He then looks to the sides to see people too sceptical to approach him, but some also swimming, through piranha and shark infested waters to enter the gulf. Some merely bow, whilst others scream in terror.

I am waiting for that moment and I wonder what it will take for that to happen. But I agree with @Jeffrey McNeil. His personality won’t allow it, unless he reverts to one of the previous timelines’ Makotos, but then he will become an Evil God. In any case. I look forward to see his future growth.

    3. I don’t agree with your understanding of weak one, here it have meaning like more with will strength, one who try their best is strong one and one who follow with flow, one who don’t voice their opinion and just live normally without trying change something. It my opinion on this sentences and it just lack of experience it not something can be understandable immediately

      1. Oh yes please come in first then we can talk about this whatever-chama in detail

        *it’s makoto-chama!!
        komoe-chan enter the house

        Mwahaha!

*a kimono girl watching from some roof

Ufufu stupid man.. I wonder which hand he will not use desuwa

      2. *Enter the FFF INQUISITION* HERETIC !!! HOW DARE THOU TOUCH THE GLORIOUS KOMOE-HIME-CHAMA !!! THOU SHALL ONLY DO THE POLICY OF YES, LOLITA ! NO, TOUCH !! BURN THE HERETIC !!!

      3. My name is maou lolicell collector of all Loli, komoe-cwan will be my new right hand of my dungeon mwahaha!

        *Gripping fist
        Eh….where’s my right hand??

    1. Oh man! It’s just occurred to me that Hibiki calling Makoto “White One” could have easily been in reference to Chiya’s vision as to his suit during that battle.

  67. So much character development…
You take the hero and make her realize she’s a warmongering prepotent brat, and you take the naive behemoth and make him realize that maybe he should do something more than just lay about.

The priestess also, that was awesome, I like that girl.

  68. Dear god, the image of Mio doing an eye-to-eye smile is scary when I think of her yandere sides.
…But I have to admit that her mad laughter below the moonlight is a beautiful scene.

Man, what does that even imply about my preferences? Yes Yandere but No Horror? How does that even work?

    1. its called SCAROUSED , you SCARE about it but you also get AROUSED (viva yandere ! i wish i have a cute yandere GF IRL *crying in the corner, Forever Alone* )

      1. But I’m neither scared nor aroused by the maniacal laughter(admittedly scared of the smile though).

I guess I would describe this feeling as….excited? Charmed?

        1. That was brutal and satisfying. The anime went one better, where Ainz-sama said to her corpse, “By the way, I’m a horrible hypocrite.” He said that like an after thought, it was glorious.

      1. Mio strikes me as the type that likes to spoil people in intimate moments.

Tomoe, on the other hand, wants to be spoiled.

Is there a name for that like when we say S or M?

        1. I can only think of it as a cat or dog. Tomoe’s the cat, butting into your lap whenever she pleases to be spoiled, and Mio’s the dog, eager to please so she can be praised.

      2. hmm i think it can work the other way as well though.
mio as the cat that likes to be free to do as she and her master pleases, quite moody with violent tendencies. a cool/elegant impression.
tomoe as the guard dog that stands watch and sometimes guide dog that leads the way. sensing other people’s bad intentions and barking/warning her master about it. an energetic/rough impression.

        1. That’s somewhat why I felt those preferences.

Tomoe is a dutiful guard dog and Mio is an unrestricted cat, but unexpectedly, they might want to be pampered and pamper respectively.

        1. Read ‘The Girl who ate Death’. It’s the gospel of Schera-sama. Although, the second half of the last chapter still hasn’t been translated. Which drives me crazy.

  69. I’m honestly starting to dislike Makoto. He’s denser than a 100 year old oak, and while that’s somewhat par for the course as far as Harem MCs go, the fact that he fought a God and then has the stones to say “Oh, Senpai is so much better than me she can shoulder the weight of a country and I can’t”. He’s right, he can’t shoulder a country. It needs to be an entire world before it gets to the size of what he can manage properly.

So why on Earth does he keep assuming he’s garbage and everyone else is amazing? It crosses lines beyond mentality and plot convenience and straight into just being dumb.

The most important reason is the Makoto/Tomoe/Mio pairing I’ve been shipping since I started reading this and it’s not gone very far at all.

    1. it just his nature to have low self-esteem because he born from family that have ‘good looks’ , he weak from birth, doesnt have any excellent talent, etc.

    2. This was literally just explained by Mio. His POV has always been from the bottom up, and Hibiki’s has always been from a superior position, you can’t change lifelong habits that easy.

      1. unless like someone that mentioned in a comment of previous chapter
IF : Makoto suddenly kill most of the hyuman and only left some of it (let see… about 100k ?) and they become the oppressed (since she think the suppresed by the number) will her habits change ? will she change her word of ‘Demons as Terrorist’ to ‘Hyuman as Terrorist’ since if this happen, she will try to revolt or do the thing she said earlier : accept as beng a slave and try to crawl back slowly

        1. As it pointed out, since she’s never been in a position where nothing can be done, she thinks that any effort will get some results, regardless of the circumstances. Give her that scenario, and she will fight til her dying breath to show that she can make a comeback. She would need to be held down by Makoto for a few days, without the power to move even a muscle, only then will she realize that somethings can’t be moved.

    3. Read Tsukuyomi’s POV and Yukiko(Makoto’s onee-chan) POV. And You would know how Makoto started as something dirt weak. Not to mention if you are the only one in your family to be born with average looks, you will always be compared to them. It has become a habit of his to look down on himself.

    4. he’s content with being dumb and his followers affirm and reinforce it. He knows he’s somewhat amazing just in power but he feels he’s weak on the EQ aspect of it. That’s why he admires people that have great EQ even though they’re less powerful.

      1. He is not dumb but his way of thinking is so simple just like a child which is both good and not good. He doesn’t think complicatedly because he can’t and needs others to help him. He thinks that simplicity is the best for him and complex things are for others.

      2. It’s not that he can’t think complicated things, he is just inexperienced, and when Zara handed him his ass in a conversation he gave up.
Problem is partially his inexperience, partially his lack of confidence, and partially Tomoe keeping him insulated from harsher realities of the world.

There have been parts of the story where he shows his thinking and plotting capability, and it is not bad, but he just needs to learn, and has given up on learning.
Personally i’m hoping this conversation, and whatever happens in Lorel, will give him the much needed kick in the ass and make him realize his potential.

    5. I’m not sure which one of us is misunderstanding(if anyone is at all).

Makoto is entirely correct. He has the power to make him important enough to have to manage the whole world. The problem is that he was born at the bottom of life and so he’s never lived in this sort of environment before(politically and socially speaking in this context).

So the fact is that he CAN’T manage the world. He doesn’t have the skills, or the perspective, or experience to, while Hibiki, Zara, and Zef do(to a degree). When he compares their non-power related skills to his own, his assessment is correct. They ARE amazing compared to him and his standard ability.

      1. Which is why he has Ema.
Makoto could just conquer the world, hand it to Ema and tell her to fix it, and go sip mojitos on the beach.

But that would be rather cruel to Ema, so let’s not.

        1. People are always on about conquering the world, but the fact is that the accounting alone is more than likely to stop you before James Bond or any intelligence agencies learn who you even are.

          1. There’s a reason why those who rise to become kings are sometimes those who know the least what the job entails. It’s because they’re the only ones ignorant and/or stupid enough to let them get saddled with the job.

    6. To be fair, he knows (and has known) for a long time that Mio and Tomoe both want to be in a romantic relationship with him. I think his biggest hang up regarding a relationship with them is that they are technically a dragon and a spider, despite their human forms.

He is dense in other areas though. I’m also with you in rooting for Tomoe and Mio. If it does occur, I’ve never had an issue with slow romances.

      1. He also mentioned that he didn’t really love any of them THAT way. And he felt it would be a disrespect to both to get involved with half-assed feelings. But Makoto goes with the flow mostly, that’s why when Mio almost asked Makoto to sleep with her, we saw from his POV that he was ok with it, if she initiated it.

      2. Ohh the part where he loves as a tomoe and mio is explained with his older sister pov. She said that he might be misunderstanding? And doesnt have expierience lol.

      3. Slow romance. Me neither. Well not in these type of series. Especially when those of concern doesn’t make it painfully obvious (coming out and saying it with direct words and action) but you have to guess and question.

      4. I think the dream wher he kissed Tomoe might have been a turning point and made him think about Tomoe and Mio as potentially more than just friends/family.
But Makoto is not really one to rush into personal relationships, so i wouldn’t expect any major developments anytime soon.

        1. I’m more worried about the opposite happening, actually.

After seeing the world where he accepted their advances ending in both of his girls dead, it’s not too strange to imagine Makoto being too afraid to start anything now.

      5. we need a new character. someone that’s like a love guru that could give love advice and some event that would trigger a need for consultation
…wow, meeting tomoki and that dream with zef fits this description in a horrible way though
…is it too much to ask for someone like chamo or jiraiya to show up and be the 4th follower?

    7. The story is a lot more interesting if you ignore his tl;dr not-very-interesting-naval-gazing and the oh-woe-the-Japanese-are-so-peaceful-and-wonderful indirect soapboxing author tract and see Makoto as the macguffin for worldbuilding.

This story is bizarre in that it’s this weird hybrid of empire building power fantasy, individual hero power fantasy, author filibuster and haremshit, but somehow all of these things hold each other back so that none of them really dominates. It’s like that one episode of the Simpsons, where we find out that Burns has all the diseases and the reason he hasn’t died yet is they’re all being held in check and can’t squeeze through the door frame.

    8. I think its because makoto does not really understand what is strong and does not understand the point of view of the strong as explained by mio.

He still think he can do many things until now because there are his companions that help him till he can reach this point.
So maybe his point of view of strong is at the point where he can do all the things by himself

Its all in my opinion only *peace

    9. I agree that Makoto is denser than a box of rocks, but I don’t think it is because of his opinion of others.
Sure, he has enough power that nobody can go against him, but that’s all. His management skills are actually pretty poor. In fact, the only good management skill he has is the ability to delegate the responsibilities to someone who is capable. Of course, now that I say that, this does make him better than 90% of the managers that I’ve had to work under.
The reason why he finds Hibiki so outstanding is that she do things with her charisma and intelligence that he would have to brute force his way using his power. This also applies to others that he has found amazing. Where he has the power to get or do whatever he wants, the others have to make things happen within the limits of their abilities.
As an example of this, there is all of the paperwork that he has to go through with the school. He doesn’t even want to do that, so having him manage a country or the world would be too big of a task for him. On the other hand, Hibiki would probably be able to handle the managerial tasks just fine. Also, she is willing to shoulder that responsibility.
To put it another way, it is kind of like admiring the courage and bravery of a kid with cancer. While the kid is extremely weak, and the cancer is killing him, you can’t help but admire the kid’s will to live.

      1. A good leader, delegates. Hell, I’ve been told that a leader that can’t delegate is a poor leader no matter how outstanding their other skills are.

      2. Yes, it is true that he does make a good leader due to his ability to delegate and it is also true that he makes a better figurehead than Bredda. However, there is a huge difference between managing what he currently manages and what was stated that he could manage.

The point that was made was that he is dense because he is selling himself short on his management skills and that he had the capabilities to manage even the whole world. It was also pointed out that he was dense for admiring people who had the capabilities to manage and shoulder the responsibility of a country.

The reason why he cannot manage a country or the world is quite simple really. It is the fact that he is lacking in the necessary personnel to do so. Sure, he has enough people to manage the community in Asora and also his current operations with the Kuzunoha Company, but that’s it. He doesn’t have Hibiki’s charisma nor does he have Tomoki’s charm ability. The only thing he can do is attract people through his sheer power.

Sure, he has done a good job of attracting people so far, but that was all because of his power. The only exceptions to this are Tomoe and maybe the highland orcs. Tomoe only joined him because she found his memories interesting and the orcs joined because he saved them (basically because he showed his power).

Almost everyone, who has migrated to Asora, trust and respect him due to his power and the promise of a safe land. Yes, that could be seen as good leadership qualities, but think about it. He has to offer people something that not even the goddess (and most gods) can provide in order to get people’s loyalty. That, or he has to act as a tyrant and flaunt his power.

Finally, Makoto also lacks the drive to even be a leader. The highest he ever aspired to was to create and lead the Kuzunoha Company. He didn’t even want to be the leader of Asora. If he had to manage a country (or the world) he would just delegate everything to Shiki and then Shiki would be the first undead to ever die of overwork.

Now, with that being said, Makoto is currently trying to get more trustworthy personnel. The problem is that it takes time before they are ready. The next problem deals with the fact that both the demon race and the hyuman countries treat him like he is a bomb that could go off at any time. They are more interested in defusing him rather than building an actual relationship with him.

    10. Strength comes in many forms. The author builds up makoto’s character as a brute with simple thoughts, scheming is not in his nature.

As we have seen already, Makoto is a simple man. You hurt my peoples, you dead. You seem hostile, you prepare your behind.

      1. “Cause Imma send this arrow straight up your ass.” The scary part? He can make damn sure that arrow hits the hole, now more than ever.

  70. Hahaha im rather getting scared of my instinct, that its telling me theres an update now on the chapt. It just up on NU when i looked up just now

  71. Thanks for the chapter! I’m very interested to see how Hibiki tries to manipulate Makoto now that she has a slight understanding of the fact that he and his followers are essentially, separated from the rest of the world. I’m also interested in seeing what changes Makoto makes in his actions following this confrontation of ideals, seeing as he seems to be reflecting on his discussion with both Hibiki and Chiya.

    1. well…. at least you wore a suite now, even if its a Neko suit (which intrigue me…. did you use that as an undercover because the FBI still pursue you Pedo-san ? )

      1. I imagine naked nepu with nekomimi, clawing drums… Considering his scary mask like face, it would be good if he captured by police… No, can i inform police now?

  72. Thank you.
Truck-kun didn’t expect this to come today.

    Reigokai, as unpredictable as ever.

    😆

    1. What? There’s only trash inside my truck. Nothing to see, but you’re always welcome there. Don’t mind the smell.

If you’re looking for Ice cream Truck or you want Ice cream, Ice cream Truck-kun is out of country. He’s still busy D̶i̶s̶p̶o̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶b̶o̶d̶i̶e̶s̶ selling the ice creams to childrens.

      1. Wait, what? You read that too?
        lol Love that story.
Nagisa don’t need Ice cream for that. The MC’s eyes are almost always ‘screaming’.

… and no. Ice cream Truck-kun is really busy in our world now. Partly my fault.

      2. well everyweek i always ready myself for the ‘nosetrill explosion’ from that manga… and also i wait for new chapter of Yuusha ga shinda, the hero of Volpuigh (thigh and kneesocks)

      1. I don’t know what 800+ comment smells like. Maybe rego can tell us the detail.
Wonder what would 900 or 1000 comment smell like.

        1. I always thought 900+ comments felt like the dust of an office supply warehouse being blown by the vaccum from a smoking father’s car.

1000+ comments, on the other hand, are like the clicking of broken-in shoes along a pavement with the texture of dreaming oak.

…But that’s just my interpretation of the feeling.

        1. Be patient my friend… another bottle will surely appear when the time is right… and we will bath in it’s majesty…! Or actually reading the comment section can satisfy our thirst… even if a little…

          1. If the chapters are water, then the comments are fruit in that:

            1. They have juicy bits of discussion that have a variety of flavors which can end up a little sticky if there’s too much to go over.
            2. It can give you a rush if it’s sweet enough, and is best when it’s chilled.
            3. It’s a refreshing break from the rest of the day.
            4. It’s exciting to get them in big bunches, but when you start digging in, you often end up going “holy shit I bit off more than I can chew”, but you wish there were more when you finish.

            Umm…what else…

          2. Half-mad is the best kind of roleplaying. It’s comprehensible to the widest audience.

What do you mean by demons scenario, though?

          3. What? Why?

We’re already humans, arguably the creature with the greatest capability and potential for evil. Why would we need to pretend to be those sissies just to commit an obscene desecration of nature for self-indulgence and profit? 😛

          4. 5. Some of the fruits maybe rotten and useless, but if you manage to find a ripe one it will make your day unbelievably bright and sweet.

            Hmm… I can’t find anything else that you haven’t said…

        1. I refuse!

Not because I have anything against banana milk, but because there will never exist a scenario in which drinking it would benefit me more than just giving it to Komoe and watching her drink it!

  73. Thanks a lot for the chapter.

So I have been reading some comments about Makoto and his level, and I got a good theory about it:
The pervert dragon bassed his system in the magic number 65536 ad the maximum attainable level, now the broken kid getting stronger every time he shots an arrow would make him to be outside that level boundary before he even set foot on the wastelands, now when you overflow a stack of bytes, there are 2 possible ways it might reflect on the way you can see the data, as a 0 because the next bit is representing all the info, or as a 1 because there is a number to be reflected by the system. My take on this is that Root tried to program that in the scrolls and never made the fix.

Also after the older sister POV it’s obvoius why he’s got that attraction to older sister types, not gonna spoiler it more.

    1. I just finish yukiko pov too, then i check My email. Honestly i also feel that yukiko is the reason behind his older women preference… I also figure that he actually has soft spot for childrens due his little sister too. Komoe, mostly

    2. Nah, I think it’s because he’s way too strong that he receive little or no EXP when he defeat an opponent. And up to now, he never killed any of his stronger opponents, so no EXP from there too. He never killed anything of comparable strength.

    3. I don’t think it’s because his level is over 65536 otherwise it would’ve been impossible to do a 2:8 contract with tomoe and mio since they’re only about level 1500. Maybe Sakai messes with it because that’s one of the only things that’s different about him other than his bow shooting

    4. because my people seems confused about makoto power level i be clearing it up right now (i already read FAR ahead)

Keep in mind i make this power level by comparing it to another person

      *SPOILERS* *SPOILERS* *SPOILERS*

“65536 is the maximum level” This is said over and over again by Root but what is “level” mean? people may or may not think it’s simply just strength etc but no “Level” is determined by strength yes but that’s not all Root said later that “Level is simply representation of the ones proof of worth” what is this “Worth” you ask?

“Worth” is a meter that created by goddesses to keep in check of her world dwelling and then you may ask “How about Makoto weird level which is always 1?” to answer that we must go the FAR future

This is also why demons didn’t registered as adventurer it’s because Zef knew about this and as such ban the demons to registered to the adventurer guild because if they registered goddesses will knew about their power

“You’re right now what your world called demigod” Athena said to makoto after Makoto know about his parents connection to this world “And as such level doesn’t work and work with you at the same time this is due to because of your Hyuman blood let’s you determine your level but your god (That figurless white giant thing is representation of makoto gods power) side makes your level unstable”

So what does this mean? well this mean that makoto IS god level but not quite there yet in the future we will know that gods apparently have power pyramid (Sorry if this is vague i didn’t really understand it” myself) and goddesses is unsuprisingly is a high level god and this is also the reason why ashura said “Even if you would be able to defeat goddesses with your power i will not recommend it” why? because makoto will destroy the pyramid system and make a mess not only within this world but also at the gods world

So how strong is makoto? Currently makoto power is that of mid-end level gods which is have power to destroy a world but not enough to defeat the goddesses which is end level
