Chapter 203: The name Neptune is not just for show

Normal and Sponsored Chapter

Without anything special happening, the test for the sea migrants ended.
The departure day of Limia was stretched, and the day for the interview came first, which I consider lucky.
Their side must have their own circumstances, but since it also fits with my own circumstances, there’s no need to get aggravated.
And so, in a variety of meanings, we arrived at the day where I will be doing the last interview with the patriarchs of the races that will be migrating to Asora.
Different from before, I wait for the other party with time to spare, knowing that it is my own arbitrary decision.
About the data of the test, I was given the documents beforehand, so I have already read them and am totally ready now.
“Now then, let’s begin.”
The one at my side is Ema again.
She is truly a big help.
And so, the interview with the sea races began.
The first to come were the Sahuagins.
They have the special trait of Kappas at their head, and are half-fish.
They are able to live in both land and water, but the main place they live in is the sea.
Their houses are there as well.
From what I saw in the documents, they were truly living peacefully at the sea of Asora.
They are good at hunting, gathering, and they are also trying to do something like animal husbandry in the sea, so my impression of them is that they are like Sea Highland Orcs.
They don’t have friction with any race, and they are showing their will to migrate.
Moreover, they are cooperating with the harbour constructions, so they are exemplary people that I find no reason to refuse.
The interview with the Patriarch-san couple ended smoothly, and Ema was also smiling from beginning to end.
The interview ended in an incredibly peaceful manner.
By the way, the green scaled ones are male, and the brilliant red scaled ones are female.
The male are in charge of being warriors, and they are specialized in group fights. They said that in terms of magic related to water, it is their specialty.
In terms of fighting style, they gave me the impression of Mist Lizards.
Well, whatever the case, it is a good start.
“Next is…” (Makoto)
“The mermaids.” (Ema)
“…How are they going to come here?” (Makoto)
Their lower half is completely fish though.
We are doing the interview in land.
The races that can’t come to land are interviewed later, and the meeting place is also at a different area.
“It seems like they are using a medicine that comes with a cost, and are able to temporarily turn hyuman shaped. That’s why it seems like there’s no need for our assistance this time.” (Ema)
“What’s with that sad story-like feeling?” (Makoto)
Will it take away their voice or turn their body into foam?
I can’t laugh at that.
More like, I would prefer to go to the sea.
“Ehm, the price seems to be random, but it seems like it isn’t that big of a deal, and the heaviest price is a slight fever.” (Ema)
“…If I remember correctly, they didn’t call it an elixir right? For some reason, I feel kind of betrayed though.” (Makoto)
Even so, it is a medicine that’s sold at the market? Is what I wanted to retort.
“Waka-sama, is it okay to call the next people?” (Ema)
“Ah, yeah. It is fine.” (Makoto)
“Then, I will call them.” (Ema)
Well, the mermaids didn’t give a good first impression, but in terms of personality, they didn’t have any problem at all.
Or more like, they hated combat so much that they accepted the invitation to Asora. That’s how pacifist they were.
The fishing grounds of the hyumans has been increasing lately, and they didn’t want any friction with the races, so they were thinking about a place to move it seems.
There’s reports that they are exemplar magic users, and they mainly utilize healing, but it was a race that deserved a special mention.
Also, they like public entertainment and the people themselves like to sing.
Because of that, they get along well with the Sirens and Lorelei.
They can adapt to land without the need of using medicine, but their natural residence is in the sea.
The race has a village, and it seems like they want to extent the present condition. Of course, it was an okay.
They take the interaction with other races positively, and they have promised to cooperate with the harbour town.
Ema also spoke, and in the end, they nodded satisfied at my gaze of confirmation.
“To think that they will be inviting us to a singing show, how pleasant.” (Ema)
“Right. Since we have the chance, how about having a bi~g party at the seashore?” (Makoto)
“To celebrate the meeting of new comrades huh. I think that’s a great idea. I will plan it promptly, okay?” (Ema)
“I am counting on you.” (Makoto)
Oh, the one that made its appearance after my talk with Ema was…a mountain.
The knolls of Marine Blue.
This interview is done at the seashore.
It is a quite big building in the form of a gymnasium that I said will be used as a meeting place.
Just that, the entrance is gigantic.
The door opens responding to the size of the people that open it. It is a gimmick that the Eldwas are proud of.
When people of normal size like us open the door, it will act like a fake big door, but when a big living being pushes it, one will be able to tell it wasn’t actually a picture on the wall.
The light pushes in at once, and a shadow that obstructs it appears as well.
Receiving the light from the back, the identity of the mountain that shone like a blue gem was a shell.
This is my first time seeing it, but…it is big.
When I check on Ema, she was also looking at it dumbfounded.
I have only seen her sharp expressions lately, so this one is rare.
Blue Moon.
A giant turtle.
Or is it?
It is floating after all.
It is great that it won’t be walking and creating steps that would resound and destroy the floor though.
Its gigantic figure contrasted with how it floated lightly.
Or more like, I am surprised it could enter.
I was now completely confident of the abnormal designing abilities of the Eldwas.
“Nice to meet you, King. I am the Blue Moon, Fua.”
Common language!
For a mythical beast like this to be able to use common language is incredibly fresh.
Ema seems to have returned to herself when the Blue Moon called me King, she fixed her expression and faced him.
“Nice to meet you, Fua-san. My name is Misumi Makoto, over here is my subordinate, Ema.” (Makoto)
“To think that the one who gave birth to this vast sea was a young and small hyuman, the world is truly big. And so, will I be able to stay in this plentiful sea?” (Fua)
“Of course. What we want to know here is your approximate residence, and confirm if you have the will to reside here. After that, we will only be telling you some rules.” (Makoto)
“I am grateful. The Blue Moons have a relationship with the sea and we leave children. I for some reason didn’t have a good compatibility with the sea of that Goddess’ ‘world’, so I was troubled. I still don’t know if I will be able to live well in this sea, but it is incredibly comfortable.” (Fua)
It seems like the Blue Moon considers that this is not the world of the Goddess, but some other completely different place.
When he says they have a relationship with the sea, it was literally, as they don’t need a companion to reproduce.
From his explanation, it feels like they really have a kid with the sea.
Even though he has the personality of a male, he doesn’t feel anything out of place in the fact that he is giving birth to eggs himself. I thought that maybe the gender in their race is vague.
…I wonder why, different from the time with Root, I feel respect with him.
It must be that, it is because the person in question is not weird, probably.
And he is the only one wishing to migrate.
In this time’s migration of Asora, there’s only two races that are wishing to migrate alone, so this is one of them.
It seems like both of them don’t have any problems with it, but I wonder if they won’t get lonely.
For the Blue Moon, it seems like as long as there’s the sea, he won’t be feeling lonely at all.
Anyways, it is a composed race.
Obviously, there were no problems, so he is approved.
As he was leaving, he told me that he wanted me to watch when he gives birth, but…when I asked when was his breeding time, he said that it is once every 500 to 1,000 years.
…I don’t think I will be able to witness it.
It is on the level that I would need incredible luck.
I answered that at that time, I would love to, but I think the chances of it will be low.
“He was truly a mountain.” (Ema)
“Right.” (Makoto)
“It seems like it was named Blue Moon because of the shell that shines lightly in the moonlight, but even when looking at him in daytime, it was beautiful.” (Ema)
“Yeah. His address was uncertain, but he said that he would respond to the thought transmissions, so when there’s any business, the races in the vicinity or I will be moving.” (Makoto)
“I am thinking about asking him to report of any resources he finds.” (Ema)
“Isn’t that fine? Since he is wilfully swimming and floating around, he will probably be able to find unexpected things.” (Makoto)
He was gigantic, but he had a truly carefree atmosphere.
It might also be because my image of a turtle is affecting my impression though.
I wasn’t overwhelmed like Ema after all.
“The next one is also a candidate that wants to migrate alone.” (Ema)
“Ah, her huh. If I remember correctly, she was a Scylla, right?” (Makoto)
“Yeah. She has a slight problem as well, so please confirm it in the interview that is to come.” (Ema)
“Understood.” (Makoto)
“Well then, I will call her.” (Ema)
A while after the words of Ema…
A girl around the same age as me enters alone.
Scylla.
It seems like in the world of the Goddess, it is a race that doesn’t have that many in numbers.
It is incredibly belligerent towards hyumans, and for that reason, they go out of their way to attack ships, and even though they are able to silently live at an island on the ocean, they end up living close to the hyuman towns.
Even though their numbers are low, among the sailors, it is considered the strongest mamono within the sea.
In the first place, the races that come to this Asora are races that are low in numbers, but for some reason, a girl has come here alone.
“Nice to meet you, Asora’s King. I am the Scylla, Levi.” (Levi)
The Scylla gracefully bows.
So there’s sailor uniforms in this world.
This is the first time I see a person wearing it.
It feels like I am looking at a high school girl.
“Nice to meet you, Levi-san. I am Misumi Makoto. Over here is Ema, my subordinate.” (Makoto)
Ema bows with a slightly stiff expression.
“Makoto-sama, I heard that this is the last interview. In other words, until today, I was at the passing level, right?” (Levi)
“Yeah.” (Makoto)
“Thanks. Having so many worthy opponents was fun.” (Levi)
The report of the Scylla was filled with battle information.
It wasn’t between migration candidates.
It seems like she went and confronted the strong-looking animals that live in the sea by herself.
And at times, those targets could also be living beings from the land as well.
It is certain that she has quite the aggressive personality.
“There’s a few questions I would want to ask you myself. Is it okay, Levi-san?” (Ema)
“Of course, Ema-san. Ask me anything.” (Levi)
“You Scyllas attack hyumans because you want to, right? But in this place there’s no hyumans, and it can’t be said that Makoto-sama is one. In that case, what was your objective in migrating?” (Ema)
…What am I, Ema-san?
“Regarding the question about the race as a whole, the answer to your former question is yes. And regarding the latter, almost all the race has no answer for it. That’s why only I am here. I am an eccentric Scylla.” (Levi)
“…Let me be straight here. Do you hold any hostility towards Makoto-sama, or evil intent?” (Ema)
At the words of Levi-san that were as if dancing around the topic, Ema throws her a straightforward question.
That worrywart side of her makes her ladylike.
“None at all.” (Levi)
“Is that because you are an eccentric one?” (Ema)
Against the sarcastic-filled tone of Ema, Levi nods at it with a wide smile devoid of evil.
“That’s right. I don’t have fun at all against hyumans.” (Levi)
“Not fun?” (Ema)
“That’s right. The majority of them are weak, and yet, at my surroundings, there were people that were competing over who defeated the most hyumans. And they do it properly without being caught by the eyes of the Goddess, that’s just low and boring.” (Levi)
“…”
“…Even though we have been born with such a strong body, right?” (Levi)
The conversation of Levi-san and Ema continue.
“In other words, the reason why you wanted to come to Asora was because there were strong people there?” (Ema)
“Yes! This is a splendid place! There are people I have never seen before, and I also saw several strong Neptune Sea Lords, who I have always wanted to fight with one day.  You Highland Orcs, the Mist Lizards, and those Arkes as well!” (Levi)
In an excited state, Levi-san speaks about the forces of Asora in her own vision.
How…impressive.
But hearing the words that show her way of thinking, I noticed something.
“Ah Levi-san, sorry for interrupting but, in that case, Levi-san…you have no hostility or evil intent at all, but you want to fight with me as well, is that what you are trying to say?” (Makoto)
“…Not yet. But in a future, I would want to have a match with you. First, I will be polishing my strength with the system called Asora Ranking.” (Levi)
The Asora Ranking is the mock battle system that Tomoe began within Asora. Obviously, it is only composed of land races, and until now, there have not been other races mentioning even the name of it, but…Levi-san already knew of it, and moreover, she wants to participate in it.
“Asora Ranking, is it? But that system has rules that don’t consider the sea races at all, so…” (Makoto)
“I don’t mind at all. I don’t have any intentions to seek for a change in the rules.” (Levi)
“Are you thinking about living in land?” (Makoto)
“Hm, that’s…there’s fights that can only be tasted in the sea, so I don’t want to choose between them.” (Levi)
The fighting standard came in.
This person, there’s probably a lot of people in Asora she could get along with.
A battle junkie that doesn’t hold any real discrimination huh.
…I can’t be sure of it though.
“Giant sharks, sea urchins, shelled animals, and eels; it seems like you have been fighting quite a lot, but why is it ‘not yet’ for me?” (Makoto)
To confirm about it, I once again interrupt and try asking.
About the record in the sea fights, there’s a lot of self-filing, but counting the wins and defeats, there’s quite the number.
It doesn’t seem like she is choosing her opponents.
Within those, there were also some where she barely escaped with her life.
And for some reason, after that, she has challenged them around three more times.
“…I just can’t imagine it at all, fighting Makoto-sama. Even so, I don’t feel like it will be boring. At those times, it is mostly because it is an opponent I am unable to do anything about. I am speaking from experience. And so, not yet. By the way, Tomoe-sama, Mio-sama, and Shiki-sama give the same feeling.” (Levi)
“I see. To live here, there are rules as well. It is fine to consider that you are accepting those when you migrate, right?” (Makoto)
For now, it looks okay.
So I decided to enter the last confirmation.
“Yes. I will study about things I don’t understand like currency, so at first, I might be a bother, but I would like you to please let me live here.” (Levi)
Currency huh.
Tomoe has done something unreasonable about that after all.
Well, that’s fine.
Levi-san is saying that she will be adapting, so…
“Well then Levi-san, I accept your migration. Looking forward to being with you.” (Makoto)
“Thank you very much!” (Levi)
Levi-san lowers her head deeply, but she energetically lifted it up and made a turn.
She is leaving.
Could it be that in her case, since she has been with a race that says things like ‘I have obtained x number of hyuman ears~’, she is lenient?
If it’s fine if there are strong opponents, then Asora might be a paradise for her.
“Ah.”
While I was thinking that, Levi-san stopped.
Her gestures as well remind me of a high school girl.
No, she looked like one.
Until this happened.
“But if there’s a war with some other place, definitely call me, please. Because at that place, there would be no problem no matter how many I kill after all~. Well then, I am excusing myself~.” (Levi)
The expression of Levi-san who turned as she laughed, the gap between what she said and her tone made my back shiver.
The documents did say that the Scylla have a deep hatred towards hyumans, I don’t know about the reason though.
Could it be that they are actually battle junkies that don’t mind if they are hyuman or not as long as they kill something?
She is odd as I thought.
“She is only good at fighting, so in a sense, she is a safe girl, but…is it okay, Waka-sama?” (Ema)
“Even if she participates in the ranking, I don’t think she has it yet to enter the core of it, so I think there won’t be any problems.” (Makoto)
“I think that those kind of girls will change for the worse when the environment is appropriate though… Should I call it strengthening, or wickedness, or maybe mentally abnormal?” (Ema) <She is making a pun with 強化, 凶化, 狂化; all of them are pronounced as kyouka but have different meanings>
For some reason, I feel like all of those fit her.
The Asora Ranking is properly made so that it doesn’t turn into killing each other, so at that part, I don’t have to worry.
If I have Shiki leave her without gas from time to time, it should be fine.
…I definitely don’t want to fight against a high schooler with a transformed body that shouts spells as she attacks me.
“Ehm, about the next one…” (Ema)
The next ones were the Sirens.
Their upper half was that of a woman, and their lower half that of a bird.
I thought they would have wings on their backs, but the Sirens that were in front of me had wings instead of arms.
It is a race that has a stronger ratio of bird traits.
They live mainly at the seashore and at reefs, and in Asora, they said that they like islands that are slightly open into the sea and has cliffs rising perpendicularly.
There’s no problem in having them live in one, so I gave them permission.
These girls are similar to the mermaids in the sense that they are pacifists, and like to sing.
It is a race that has only girls, and in that part, they are similar to Gorgons.
In the time of the exam, they discussed of these circumstances with the other races, and it seems like it didn’t turn into any problem, so I decided not to get involved in it.
People like Lime should be relieved about that.
Even if he were attacked because of a misunderstanding, the experienced Lime will probably be totally in, yeah.
They told me that they were planning on having the Lorelei in charge of the musical instruments, and the Mermaids and Sirens for the singing, so in the flow, Ema spoke about the festival, and they flew around and were shouting in joy.
Looks like they are an energetic race.
When they told me the Neptunes will be the one doing the dancing, I was personally taken aback.
They asked me to please take care of the Loreleis that will be coming after, and after lowering their head, they left.
Getting along is something great.
“They were cheerful people.” (Ema)
“It is great that Ema doesn’t have to get angry.” (Makoto)
Remembering the disaster with the fairies, I tease her.
“That was because they were lacking way too much manners! And in reality, they are now able to act in a somewhat decent manner now, you know? In other words, they could do it, and yet, they didn’t. I was angry because of that!” (Ema)

I can’t say much about others, but I feel like this is similar to seeing circus lions jumping fire rings, and then expecting the wild lions to do that as well.
“Is there something wrong?” (Ema)
“No, nothing.” (Makoto)
“Well then, I will call the Loreleis next.” (Ema)
“Yes.” (Makoto)
Lorelei huh.
It is a type of demon race it seems.
Honestly speaking, there isn’t much I would question them about.
…Because you know, thanks to Sari doing her best and working a lot, almost all the questions I wanted answered are already written in the documents after all.
I even think that it would be fine if it just went: ‘How’s been lately?’, ‘Not bad’, ‘Then I am looking forward to being with you’, ‘Excuse us then’.
Different from Tomoe, Sari must be a girl that likes to gather all the information perfectly in the documents.
In other words, it can also be said that she is a girl that doesn’t set up things for me to experience for myself.
The interview with the Loreleis was truly just casual talk.
Confirming the content in the documents, and also speaking about Sari.
It seems like the Lorelei are truly being helped out by Sari. It seems like Sari is also feeling affection towards them as she interacts with them.
She has slept over at their village a few times already, so I can tell from that.
“Ah, now that I think about it, I heard that you guys are good at playing with instruments?” (Ema)
Ema must be thinking about touching the topic of the festival for last, she talks about one of their specialties.
“Yes. We make musical instruments, and we are also specialized in playing them. In Asora there are many materials we have yet to touch, so we are looking forward to it.”
“We are also looking forward to hearing your musical performance.” (Ema)
“With the cooperation of the other races, I think we will be able to do so in a near future. We are all doing our best in order to entertain you.”
I think that it is quite special to be able to play musical instruments, since I am no good at it.
In the case of the Lorelei, it seems like they are able to combine their magic with their melodies, so being diligent in their musical performance will also count in increasing their strength at battle.
Hm?
But if they are able to do musical performances, can’t they dance as well to match it?
“Uhm, it is your specialty to do musical performances but, could it be that you are also good at dancing as well?” (Makoto)
I tried asking them.
“Yes. We are not that good at singing, but at the village, we would always pair musical performances with dancing.”
Oh~.
Then let’s have them do that for the coming festival!
“In that case, I would like to see it at the time when you do your performance.” (Makoto)
“No well, the ones in charge of the dancing will be the Neptunes. There isn’t that many chances to see their super high-class dancing, and it is incredibly rare to be able to do a musical performance when that happens. We are thinking of concentrating in our musical performance which is our main role.”
…I am unable to evade the Tuna and Red King Crab dragon palace dance.
Is it okay to expect something when they say it is super high-class?
Inside me, the image of the Neptunes are already a profound mystery though.
Regarding the singing and music, they have already seized the dancing role.
“I see. Understood. I am looking forward to it.” (Makoto)
“Yes. And so, will we be able to continue living in this land?”
“Yeah. I am thinking about having you guys be the leads of the harbor town.” (Makoto)
“Thank you very much!”
They are more of a land race after all.
“From hereafter, I will be cooperating with Sari-dono and working hard as a part of everyone.”
“I think that Sari will be involved with you in the future as well, but I am thinking about having her do the follow-up for the races that will be migrating. That’s why she will not be able to make contact with you guys that often, please do understand.” (Makoto)
“Is it a promotion? That’s great.”
“There’s worth in doing it, is what the person herself said as well, and she is talented. In the first place, if I were to leave Ema here with two settlements, she would collapse.” (Makoto)
“Waka-sama!” (Ema)
“I want her to keep the strength to get angry at me like this. I am thinking about having Sari do her best. Everyone, please cooperate as well.” (Makoto)
It didn’t seem like Sari said ‘there’s worth in doing it’ to please me, so I decided to leave her in charge of the sea business.
Pushing it to Ema would be a bit too much after all.
In terms of trust and results, it is true that I would like to leave it to Ema, but thinking about how exhausting this work would be, I could tell that it would be hard.
She is telling me the things in a refreshing manner, but in reality, we are low in hands.
This is something that I understand even if not told, so I don’t touch that topic though.
“To think that us who are related to the demon race, can live in such an abundant land…Fuh… Live is truly unpredictable.”
“Right. The demon race has increased their territory and isn’t as bad as before, but that side is shouldering a war. You all will be making a town peacefully. It is truly unpredictable.” (Makoto)
“From now on, we are in your hands, Waka-sama.”
“I am looking forward to being with you.” (Makoto)
Maybe they are filled with emotion, the Lorelei had tears in their eyes as they left.
The Lorelei that abandoned living in that harsh land and searched for hope in the sea, it seems like they didn’t live an abundant live at all either.
Having piled up misfortune over misfortune, they probably see Asora as a paradise.
If this brings them happiness, it makes me happy as well.
“A type of demon, Lorelei huh.” (Makoto)
“As expected of people that have lived in a harsh environment, they are all people that have high endurance.” (Ema)
It seems like in this place, being a type of demon is viewed as a simple difference in the race.
In other words, it is like the difference of a white person and a black person.
Looking at it from a genetic point, they might have a bit more of a difference than that, but honestly, I wonder if they have that much difference to call them a type though.
“The demon race that’s challenging the hyumans and the Goddess together with the Demon Lord, and the Lorelei that came to Asora with the flow. I wonder which one is happier.” (Makoto)
“That question changes in answer depending on what they consider as happiness, you know?” (Ema)
“Ema, don’t you have a lingering discomfort between them and the demon race?” (Makoto)
Ema answered straightly, but I was a bit bothered.
There’s the event where the Highland Orcs were almost pushed into a dangerous state by the demon race.
It is not like everyone knows this, but she knows it.
“I don’t have anything to say about the Lorelei. About the demon race…I do have a bit, but even so, it is the truth that thanks to that, I was able to meet Waka-sama. I am not Waka-sama, but I am beginning to think that everything is okay as long as the result is good.” (Ema)
“I see.” (Makoto)
“Well then, I will call the next ones.” (Ema)
“Got it.” (Makoto)
The next ones…are here.
They are here.
Neptunes!
<TLN: This part has heavy japanese puns about the past and with naming, so I am not sure if I have accurately translated them. If someone spots any mistakes, please point them out.>
Three of them.
A tuna and a thorny crab, probably the one they call a Red King Crab.
And the other one is…a whale.
It is a whale but…hey, it is small.
Is that the punchline?
For a whale to be around two meters is…obviously small.
“Nice to meet you, Neptunes. My name is Misumi Makoto. The one here is the Highland Orc, Ema, my subordinate.” (Makoto)
Until now, I have lost in presenting myself first, but they are different to the other races in a lot of meanings, so I hyped myself up and made the greetings.
When I did that, the tuna and the crab that were at the left and right lowered their knees.
It is a gesture that I feel would be done by knights.
And then, the mini-whale that was at the very center, made one step forward and does a refined bow.
Even though it is a whaleman that has hyuman limbs growing out of it, I felt elegance from it.
That’s impressive.
“Nice to meet you, King of Asora, Makoto-sama.”
After saying that, the whale took a step back.
“I am in charge of the circulation of goods as a courier, the tuna race, name’s Tsuna. Nice to meet you, Makoto-sama.”
A tuna named Tsuna.
We are joking with the names already.
“As my strong point is strength, I am mainly in charge of public works, constructions, and physical jobs, Red King Crab race, name’s Hanasaki. Nice to meet you, Makoto-sama.”
Didn’t you say you were a Red King Crab?!
What’s this about a Hawaiian crab?! <Hanasaki can mean ‘coming from Hawaii’.>
Just what are you?!
“And I am the head and a fireman, protecting the living of everyone, whale race, name’s Serwhale Gay. Being granted this audience today, I feel truly happy.”
…Gay.
Goddess…just what are you creating?
No, for that Goddess to create something like this, the molding is just way too terr-….way too unique.
They might be the antique races that originally lived here.
In that case, it would mean they have an amount of history comparable to the Superior Dragons.
Now that I think about it, there’s no Superior Dragon supervising the sea, right? Could it be that these guys are just like their name state, the protectors of the sea? That’s not it, right?
“A fireman, is it? Uhm, sorry for the rudeness, but from my knowledge, a fireman just doesn’t give a good image though.” (Makoto)
In the first place, it is weird for your job to be a fireman, right?
Aren’t you in the sea?
There’s no fires.
When talking about firemen, it is the ones from the Edo-period. <the firemen they are referring to is written differently.>
Or more like, it may not sound bad, but from what I know, the jobs of those firemens was to destroy the houses that were in fire.
Could it be that the Neptunes are lenient in their housing?
“You know well. It is certainly true that within our race the word fireman means the fireman that you refer to, and it normally doesn’t have a good image. But I am surprised. It seems like you already knew beforehand about the courier and the strong<both are works stemming from the Edo-period and written differently>, and on top of that, you even knew about the firemen. You are knowledgeable like a scholar.”
This self-proclaimed fireman is incredibly gentlemanly.
This person is totally talking in Kanjis<japanese writing style>, but I will probably lose if I am bothered by it.
Also, it would be troublesome to call him only as Gay, so I should also add the Ser as well.
Let’s do that.
He said I was like a scholar, but things like couriers, strong, and firemen; as a Japanese, it is not that impressive of knowledge though. In terms of Edo times, 取る替えるべえとか, might be considered knowledgeable. <No idea what that means, so in a sense, it is truly rare? :P>
I am probably a bit more knowledgeable than the normal.
“Serwhale-sama knows the meaning of that name, and even with that, he is still calling himself a fireman.”
Tsuna does a follow-up.
“There’s no one as noble as Serwhale-sama.”
Hanasaki also speaks.
It is probably better to not worry about this guy’s identity.
Honestly, I don’t know anything aside from his name.
In terms of fleshiness, I have seen travelling programs where crabs had fleshy legs like that, but in terms of ecology and source, I completely don’t know what’s the difference he has with the Red King Crabs.
“Is there some sort of circumstance?” (Makoto)
Leaving aside their looks and composition, the Neptunes have a good reputation with all the races, and on top of that, they are incredibly cooperative with us.
Not only Sari, they also have a good evaluation from Tomoe, Mio and Shiki.
From the documents, there were no problems found, a race with moral rectitude.
If there’s some sort of circumstance from that race, I want to hear it here.
“We came here with the intention to tell Makoto-sama. It may become an embarrassment for us Neptunes, but will you please listen?”
“Of course. If you are going to be living in Asora, you are practically family. I think that we have to receive those circumstances as well.” (Makoto)
“The Neptunes are existences that can be called the protectors of the sea world. We have varied outward appearances, but all of us possess excelling abilities, and since time immemorial, we have been protecting the order of the sea.”
“The protectors of the sea…” (Makoto)
No way…
“Even if we are called the protectors of the sea, as long as we are a race, we will be targeted by friction and civil war, and there were times when we have divided our forces and done wars that drag other races into it. This is something that’s not recorded in the hyuman history, but it is not like the sea has been living in constant peace like how the land sees of it.”
“I see.” (Makoto)
So the sea has also experienced a big war within the sea huh.
“Right now there’s nothing like that and we are living peacefully, but a problem has occurred. I who am the son of the King, am actually a twin, so there’s an exact older brother of mine.”
“In that case, the one who will be inheriting the throne will be your older brother?” (Makoto)
“No, he has already inherited it. I don’t have any intentions to fight over the throne, and intended to help brother, so my brother was able to smoothly inherit it without any obstruction.”
Then there’s no problem.
“It is stupid to divide the race and fight, and it would have been fine to just offer this body of mine to the Neptunes as a General of the army, but the fact that I thoughtlessly got stronger than my brother, had individual abilities surpassing him, and was the top of the army, must have been bad. Steadily, a bad atmosphere was beginning to born between my brother and me.”
…It is beginning to turn muddy.
Even though they are like a gag, why does it turn into such a serious conversation, Neptunes?
“In other words, even though you have higher abilities to become the King, your brother became the King. People that didn’t like this began appearing.” (Makoto)
“In terms of disposition as a king, my brother and I have no difference. It is just that I am higher in physical and magical capacity. But it is true that there were people resembling what you mentioned, Makoto-sama.”
At this rate, he is probably also higher in knowledge and grades.
And maybe he was more popular too.
“My brother began thinking that it would be dangerous for me to do as I wish with the army, he fortified his faction, and tried to take in the army into the authority of the King. To avoid the concentration in authority, the Neptunes tried to decentralize the authority with a few methods. My normal brother would have been able to reach an understanding though.”
“The Neptunes have quite the advanced government.” (Makoto)
The words decentralization of authority, just when did I hear these words?
I have heard centralization a lot though.
It is incredible that they have a lot of different ways of thinking instead of just thinking about who’s the better one.
Since coming to this world, I have finally begun to understand the words separation of powers, central and local authority; words that sound like some sort of chant.
Until then, it was more of memorization.
“Thank you very much. And then, after that, I obstructed the ones who seemed to have excessive centralization of power, and tried to work in mending my relationship with my brother, but in the end, it turned into a situation where it was impossible to avoid a civil war. I could only be embarrassed by my incompetence.”
“A civil war.” (Makoto)
“It was a situation where I was searching for a way to avoid it. But there was a light. It was for me to be exiled from the Neptunes. My brother probably said those words with the intention to declare a war, but for me, those were truly words of salvation. I accepted the exile, was called a firemen, and became a wanderer of the sea.”
I don’t know how many volumes are in the biography of Serwhale, but it seems like it has ended.
“Ehm, then after that, you visited several places, and ended living with the Neptunes of other places?” (Makoto)
“No. After being exiled, warriors and populace from my country chased after me. But there were pursuers from my brother, and we were somehow able to cut through it with the minimal amount of fights, created a hidden village, and we were invited by Asora.”
“That was impressive timing.” (Makoto)
Seriously.
“We are truly grateful for this miracle. From now on, we will consider this sea as our homeland, hold hands with the people that are living there, and serve Makoto-sama. That’s what we have decided.”
The strength in his eyes is incredible.
As expected of someone that has been troubled by raging waves like the one I have heard just now.
Even someone as competent as him was unable to stop a political strife that has picked up in pace.
How scary.
“The Neptunes have a good reputation with the other races, so there’s no problem. That’s why I don’t mind having you live here. I have already received the okay to our rules beforehand so, is there anything else you want to tell me?” (Makoto)
“Thank you very much. I think it is truly shameless for us to be saying it, but we have two wishes. The first is that we want to meet with the strong warriors of the Asora ranking, and we want to request for an accommodation<maybe a spar?>. The other one is something related to the conversation just now; if there’s a possible problem regarding the Neptunes my brother commands, we can’t participate. Those are the points.”
So they can’t participate.
A valid line.
I even think that it wouldn’t be strange for him to tell us not to fight him.
“Then are you saying that if the Neptunes invade from outside, you won’t be fighting?” (Ema)
Ema refutes.
Even for a possibility, it is way too improbable.
“If something like that happens, we will commit suicide. I understand that it won’t serve as atonement for anything, but even so, we are unable to fight, and it will trouble the other races. Choosing sides…would be unbearable. Just that, we are unable to bear it.”
“You can’t. Suicide is not permitted. Please think of another way aside from that.” (Makoto)
“But…Makoto-sama…”
“Sorry, I have made a strange supposition. I will leave this case as a homework of the Neptunes to Waka-sama.” (Ema)
Ema cuts off the flow of the conversation.
Maybe because the answer differed a lot from what she expected.
“Ema-dono, this is something that we have discussed with everyone of us…”
“Serwhale-dono, please understand. It might be better to think of a way to turn that chance into zero. There are a number of people here that are able to make that possible.” (Ema)
The eyes of Ema were serious.
By turning the chances to zero, does she mean…
“Zero?! Could it be…”
“I will leave it to your imagination. Suicide is not something that Waka-sama, me, and anyone wishes for. Please discuss it properly once more.” (Ema)
“Understood. Well then, with this, we will be excusing ourselves. Waka-sama, Ema-dono, we are looking forward to being with you.”
“Same here.” (Makoto)
Zero huh.
Ah, I see.
If we slaughter all the Neptunes from his brother’s side, that chance would disappear.
The chances of invading Asora are low to begin with, but if we were to make it zero, it is probably that.
Looking at the back of Serwhale-san, I remember something I had forgotten.
“Ah, right. Sergay-san!” (Makoto)
“What is it, Waka-sama?”
Sergay is already calling me Waka-sama.
“I can’t find the relation between being exiled and turning into a fireman though. Because there shouldn’t be any fire extinguishing in the sea.” (Makoto)
“Ah, about that. Before being in the army, I was dealing with volcanos.”
“Volcanos?” (Makoto)
In the sea?
“In the sea, there’s things called submarine volcanos. They erupt just like the ones in land. The scale of the ones I did were small, but there was a time when I stopped one of those eruptions myself, and since then, I have been called the Number One Target, Serwhale.”
“Submarine volcanos. Is that so. That’s why it is called firemen. I understand now.” (Makoto)
“Well then.”
The three lower their heads deeply, and this time for sure, they leave.
Number one target and currently a firemen huh.
The submarine volcanoes are fires, I see.
“W-Waka-sama?” (Ema)
As I was nodding in understanding, Ema speaks to me with a trembling voice.
“What is it?” (Makoto)
“That person said he was able to stop the eruption of a mountain with that small body of his though?” (Ema)
“…Oh.” (Makoto)
Even if he says it was a small eruption, it is still quite the big deal.
I haven’t seen a submarine volcano, but it is probably quite the exploit.
“It seems like there’s powerful people in the sea as well. I have to tell everyone.” (Ema)
“Even if their names were gags as well, they were diligent people. Neptunes, how fearsome.” (Makoto)
And so, we did interviews with several other races, and in the end, there were races that could only be in the sea, so we went to meet them.
We were safely able to decide on the migration of all the races.
The population of Asora -well, I don’t know if it is okay to call it population- has surpassed two thousand now.
Hm.
So from two thousand and higher, I am being recognized as Waka-sama<young master> huh.
I am fine with being called Landlord-san which they sometimes call me with though.
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆
Second floor of the Kuzunoha Company, at the reception room.
“Shiki-san, what was the reaction of Raidou-sensei?”
At the time when Makoto was doing an interview with the races of the sea, Shiki-san was meeting with four of his students: Jin, Amelia, Sif, and Yuno.
It is the students that currently wish to be employed in the Kuzunoha Company.
Jin who didn’t have the surplus to even place the tea in his mouth, said this tense words to Shiki, and Shiki showed the usual gentle smile he shows to his students as he opens his mouth.
“About Jin, he said that he can’t put out that much salary, but it seemed like…he was positive in it.” (Shiki)
“!! Is that true?!” (Jin)
“Yeah, just that, I think it is a job that won’t bring much money despite its difficulty.” (Shiki)
“As long as I can eat and sleep, gold is only worth that much. In the Kuzunoha Company, they provide equipment when needed, right?” (Jin)
“When needed, and corresponding to the person’s ability, you know?” (Shiki)
“Yes! Yosh, yosh!!” (Jin)
Jin was happier than ever at the words of Shiki.
It was a scene that one could tell he considers the Kuzunoha Company that appealing.
Also, he said that as long as he can eat, have somewhere to sleep, and be provided with equipment, gold is of no importance. It was a scene where one could have a peek of that.
“Shiki-san, what about us?” (Sif)
Sif asks Shiki worried.
Even if they have a connection with her father, Yuno did something that displeased Raidou at the previous lecture(or at least that’s what the sisters think).
They were thinking that they are in no way in the safe zone.
The expression of Yuno was also stiff.
“About Sif and Yuno…” (Shiki)
The silence of a few seconds felt as if a gulp could be heard.
“Your father has requested of it as well, and he has understood your passion with your decision of surely passing the guild exam. He will probably not have you work in dangerous places, but he says that he wouldn’t mind having you work.” (Shiki)
“Aaah~, Yuno!” (Sif)
“Onee-chan!” (Yuno)
The Rembrandt sisters hug each other.
It was a happiness as if they had already passed the exam.
“Just that, he said that he won’t be able to treat you specially in your salary. If you are unable to accept this…” (Shiki)
“Something like that, we haven’t thought of it as a problem from the very beginning! Right now I want to test more of my own possibilities. For that sake, I am thinking that being by the side of Raidou-sensei and Shiki-san is best.” (Sif)
“Just as Onee-chan says! I also want to train myself more and more. I want to try going to the wasteland one day, and I think that I will be able to experience things I won’t be able to experience anywhere else in Kuzunoha Company!” (Yuno)
With this, from the four, three now have expressions filled with happiness.
There’s one left.
Only Amelia.
“Shiki-san, what did Sensei say about me?” (Amelia)
“Hm, right. Jin, Sif, Yuno, can you please leave for a bit?” (Shiki)
“!”
The three were able to tell the meaning of those words in an instant.
And Amelia herself as well.
She closed her eyes and hung her head slightly.
She exhaled deeply and lifted her head.
“Shiki-san, there’s no need to do that. Please say it in front of everyone here.” (Amelia)
“Is that okay?” (Shiki)
“Yes.”
“…”
The three were silent.
Their faces were tense like the time before they heard the answer from Shiki.
It may be the business of someone else, but Amelia is a member of their party, and is a comrade of them in the truest meaning of the word.
“Amelia, from the perspective of Waka-sama, you have no specialized ability, and your personal ability is already reaching its limit. Looking at it only from the present state, you are excellent in synthesizing, but it is easy to see that you are the precocious type that other students can catch up to and surpass.” (Shiki)

Hearing the harsh evaluation, Amelia’s expression turns bitter.
“You are a talented person that by gathering experience you can have an active role in the future, but…” (Shiki)
“…”
“You are not necessary in Kuzunoha Company.” (Shiki)
“!!”
“That’s all.” (Shiki)
Words like ‘No way’ and ‘this must be a lie’ were leaking from them.
And the person in question, Amelia, was clearly told that she was not necessary, and she is unable to hide her shock.
It may be faint, but in her wide opened eyes, there were tears coming out.
It was something rare for the firm Amelia.
It was truly something rare.
“…”
Shiki exchanged looks with Jin, and noticing the meaning of it, he took Sif and Yuno, and they left the room.
Silently, the door closed.
“As I thought, Sensei noticed it huh. That I am not a big deal.” (Amelia)
“…”
Maybe because she knew that they were alone now, Amelia opened her mouth.
About Amelia being precocious, the fact that there’s the chance it will turn for the worse in the future, being able to only gather low amounts of experience, isn’t something Makoto discovered.
It was Shiki.
And it was him who gave her the harsh evaluation and the answer that she is not needed. Not Makoto.
Even so, Shiki told Amelia this as if they were the words of Makoto.
From the state of the four and Shiki, it was clear that they were asking for the opinion of Makoto regarding their employment in Kuzunoha Company.
But the reason why Shiki falsified the words of Makoto is unknown.
“I knew. Compared to the others, I don’t have something that makes me stand out. Even so, I am not an all-purpose type either. That’s why I tried polishing my leadership abilities, tried to be useful with my knowledge, and I also tried scheming…” (Amelia)
“Yeah, you did put your effort.” (Shiki)
“Shiki-san, if I were to obtain the approval of the merchant guild, do I still have a chance? Is there anything, anything I can do to be accepted in Kuzunoha Company?!” (Amelia)
“…Sif and Yuno huh.” (Shiki)
“Sif has the magic synthesis and incredible talent, Yuno is compatible with that suit, but if I just need to be as good as those two, then I can try even harder and…” (Amelia)
“You must know already, Amelia. Those two are the daughters of Rembrandt-shi. Even if those two had lower ability than you, he would have hired them.” (Shiki)
“That’s called having connections, right?” (Amelia)
“That’s right.” (Shiki)
“That’s unfair.” (Amelia)
“Right.” (Shiki)
Amelia was pressing on as if she was holding in something, and Shiki was answering indifferently.
“…Why, why only me?” (Amelia)
“It is okay to cry. Amelia, you are trying too hard. It is good to work hard and look up, but there’s also things that can’t be gained with only that. Learn to cry and break. You have been trying too hard without knowing of that.” (Shiki)
The words of Shiki that were close to her feelings, finally made Amelia cry loudly.
Just like how Shiki told her to cry, she didn’t stop, and he silently held Amelia.
Even though she called Raidou an idiot just as her feelings told her to, she didn’t blame him, and even when she blamed herself, she wasn’t angered.
The feelings Amelia was voicing out are coming from her true feelings, but she also understands that they weren’t all of her feelings.
Even though she respects him, she also holds minus feelings towards him.
Just because she voiced out only the latter doesn’t mean the feelings of respect disappear.
After Amelia cried, cried, and cried her eyes out, the force calmed down. By the time she had turned quiet and had entrusted her own weight to Shiki…
“Amelia, please listen.” (Shiki)
“…”
There was no response.
But Shiki continued without minding.
“About Waka-sama’s decision, honestly speaking, I also agree with it.” (Shiki)
“…”
Makoto is simply not that interested in Amelia, and if she were to supplicate, he probably wouldn’t mind hiring her.
He has that part of him.
That’s why Shiki replaced his own words of Amelia and made them as if they were Makoto’s.
“You are weak. The Kuzunoha Company has a lot of harsh works, and Jin and you will without doubt be thrown into it at a point in time.” (Shiki)
“…”
“And you will die there. Without doubt.” (Shiki)
“!!”
“There’s low chances for you to make a drastic change now. If you continue as always, your chances of dying are certain and you will have no choice but to make a drastic change. Even so, if you wish for that, you will probably have to throw away the style you have had until now.” (Shiki)
“…I heard that the Kuzunoha Company has safe workplaces.” (Amelia)
“There are. Just that, in those places, there’s no Jin, Waka-sama, and…I am not there either.” (Shiki)
“!!”
“That’s why, Amelia, even if there’s dangerous work, you will most likely come to this side. And you will lose your life. That’s something clear to the eye. I also concurred with Waka-sama. Even if you don’t come to our place, there’s plenty other good jobs for you.” (Shiki)
“I don’t care about a workplace with good conditions. The only place I want to work in, is here after all.” (Amelia)
When she said only place, Amelia grabbed Shiki.
Shiki also understood what she meant.
And with this reply to the comment of a safe workplace, Amelia noticed her own feelings as well.
“Gritonia Empire has invited you, right? Isn’t it a desireable major power?” (Shiki)
“I hate cold places and the womanizer hero.” (Amelia)
“There will probably be someone from the Limia Kingdom coming to probe about this as well, you know?” (Shiki)
“Are you saying this seriously? I am the very person that killed a high noble of their place, you know? Misura, Izumo, and Daena too. I definitely won’t go to Limia Kingdom. It would be a different story if the person is an incredible idiot or is able to interpret everything in a positive manner and has the heaven’s luck though.” (Amelia)
(Or if that person is able to unconsciously nullify all the obstructions. Just like Waka-sama.)
With the words ‘incredible idiot’, Shiki made a wry smile in a manner that couldn’t be seen by Amelia.
Because his own master had surfaced in his mind.
“I can prepare a good intermediary for Lorel as well though?” (Shiki)
“Please give that to Izumo. That boy, he is shouldering it by himself, but he is quite troubled about his home.” (Amelia)
“I will think about it.” (Shiki)
“Shiki-san, I want to enter Kuzunoha Company. And it is probably for a bad reason compared to the other three.” (Amelia)
“…”
“But I am serious. I will do anything. Anything…so…” (Amelia)
Shiki had replaced his own words as Makoto’s.
It is an action he normally would never do.
Because it is an action that if not handled properly, would make Amelia hold animosity towards Makoto.
Leaving aside if the person holding the animosity can cause harm to Makoto, it isn’t something that a person serving him should do.
The reason was because Shiki himself was unable to hate her.
This student that loved him.
To the point that he wanted to pull her aside in order for her to not die.
Maybe because his undead side complicated things, he still hasn’t thought of protecting her himself, but compared to the many girls that are simple students or came to confess her feelings to him, his awareness of her is definitely different.
“Anything, you say?” (Shiki)
“Yes.” (Amelia)
“Even if it is…to abandon your hyumanity?” (Shiki)
“Eh?” (Amelia)
Amelia lifted her face and looks at the expression of Shiki.
He does look sad, but he is asking her resolve, an expression that’s definitely not that of someone joking.
“…Trying hard and continuing to try hard, and after experiencing something harsher than ever before, and even with that, if there’s a time when you are unable to match the task, will you be able to compensate by abandoning your hyumanity?” (Shiki)
Once again.
With the same face, Shiki says this.
Looking at the eyes of Shiki, Amelia was able to tell…this is the last chance.
In the first place, she felt that if she is not in the Kuzunoha Company, she would forget about Shiki in time.
Trying to escape from that rabble, she asked for employment in Kuzunoha Company.
Even though she said words akin to a confession, there was no answer.
Even so, Amelia felt like this was the last chance to connect her feelings.
“If with that…I am able to stay by your side, I won’t regret it.” (Amelia)
“…”
“I…” (Amelia)
“If I remember correctly, Lime said he wanted a subordinate. I was troubled because there’s the need for intelligence gathering abilities, magic, and high fighting power.” (Shiki)
“I will do it!!” (Amelia)
“The time I have until introducing him would be, let’s see…probably by the time you graduate. Let me tell you this, it will as if the party fights until now were just playing around, you know? You will be resting at the Academy, and learn after school. You will probably be living a life like that.” (Shiki)
“I don’t mind!!” (Amelia)
“Without lowering your grades, and continuing your part-time job, I will have you go through the training of an official employee.” (Shiki)
“Of course!!” (Amelia)
“Understood. I will arrange the necessary. Make a desperate effort to have Waka-sama recognize you, Amelia.” (Shiki)
At the end, he gently said Amelia’s name and made a smile as if he had been beaten by the persistence of his opponent.
(In the first place, he wasn’t against hiring Amelia. Even though I said all this, there’s actually not much problem in hiring her with how she is currently. What do I want with Amelia? At worst, if I were to do a breech of morals, just how much should I show and just how much should I involve myself? This is bad. Even though I am aware that I am cruel, maybe because I was originally a hyuman, there are times when I can’t be like Tomoe-dono and Mio-dono. Amelia is simply a stray cat that I coincidentally found. It is an existence that even when stirred by others at times, it is not someone that can bring harm. And yet, am I feeling reluctant to relinquish it? It is someone that I haven’t shown my real self, you know? I…) (Shiki)
While holding questions within himself, Shiki felt that a part of him wished for this development, and was bewildered.
◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆
“Ara, Tomoe-san. What’s wrong? It is rare for you to come to the kitchen.”
“Don’t ‘what’s wrong?’ me. You are plotting something, right?” (Tomoe)
In the kitchen where Mio was endeavouring herself in, Tomoe appeared.
Right now she was in the middle of preparing dinner.
“Plotting, you say. What are you talking about?” (Mio)
“Clearing out the people, I have come to ask you in this way. Don’t play dumb.” (Tomoe)
Just like what Tomoe said, the preparation work that normally has a lot more people working in, only has Mio today.
There were actually people, but Tomoe slowly gave them work and had them leave. Right now, there’s only Mio remaining.
“Even if you say that, I just can’t understand what you mean.” (Mio)
“About accompanying Waka-ja yo.” (Tomoe)
The kitchen knife that moved nimbly, stopped.
Until now, Mio had been speaking with Tomoe without looking at her and only directing it to her presence, but she slowly turned around.
“About going together with Waka-sama to Limia Kingdom without letting Tomoe-san or Shiki, is it that-desu ka?” (Mio)
“That’s right-ja. About you going, well, it is not like it is necessarily a no, but there’s one troublesome hero at Limia. I don’t know what you are thinking, but I will be going as well.” (Tomoe)
“I refuse-desu wa.” (Mio)
“What authority do you have in saying that? I want you to tell me along with your scheme-ja no.” (Tomoe)
“Hibiki isn’t even to fear. Isn’t Tomoe-san just being overcautious?” (Mio)
“If we are just looking at the fighting power of her, it would be as you say. But the troublesome part of Hibiki is not that. That intuition and way of conduct, if we were to let her involve herself with Waka without proper supervision… I just can’t overlook it.” (Tomoe)
“I don’t understand that intuition you are talking about. No matter what Hibiki learns of, just what would she able to do about it-desu? In the first place, if she were truly sharp, I wouldn’t even need to move out.” (Mio)
At the latter part, Mio mutters it incredibly low as if talking to herself.
It seems like Tomoe was unable to hear that part.
“It is not about what she learns. What’s troublesome is the chance of her teaching Waka something she has thought of. Looking at the chances, I can’t say it is zero.” (Tomoe)
“Even though Tomoe-san always goes without interfering, the moment Waka-sama is about to learn something that inconveniences you, you turn defensive-desu wa ne.” (Mio)
“You, are you looking at me in that way?!” (Tomoe)
“Because, isn’t that the truth? You have a lot of things you don’t tell Waka-sama, right? You have also silenced me from telling him about me killing the individual that revived.” (Mio)
“…There are a lot of things in this world that are premature to know, and things that are better not known.” (Tomoe)
“This is something I learned recently but, it is about that merchant Rembrandt that Waka-sama likes. Wasn’t he quite the merchant-sama in his younger times? Even though it is something that you should know because of your mind reading abilities, you didn’t tell Waka-sama.” (Mio)
“W-What good would come…from telling him? Wouldn’t it only make Waka suffer? That’s why I will tell him when he has grown enough to be able to take it. Don’t you think it is okay to do that?” (Tomoe)
“I just can’t agree with that ‘watching over is best’ thinking of Tomoe-san.” (Mio)
“Then what are you telling me to do-ja?” (Tomoe)
“That…I will be showing it in Limia. But it would be troublesome if you were there. Please rest for a bit. There’s a lot of other work to do after all.” (Mio)
“Is it okay to think that it has something to do with you giving a similar equipment of Waka to that Rembrandt daughter? That troubled Waka a lot, you know?” (Tomoe)
“That’s right. I have already received my scolding, and I have already received his forgiveness. Until now…I have not said anything about most of what Tomoe-san has done. Is Tomoe-san going to interpose in what I will do? Are you thinking that I will harm Waka-sama?” (Mio)
The eyes of Mio shoot a dangerous light.
“That’s not it. I know of your deep affection and loyalty to Waka. You don’t even have a shred of a thought about harming him. What I am anxious about, is you going out of control-ja. Because of your deep affection to Waka, you view other people aside from Waka way too lightly. As long as Waka cares for the general trend of others, we should also accommodate to that as well. You should also be able to understand that too, right?” (Tomoe)
While thinking that the words of Mio hit in a part that hurt, Tomoe responds.
“Yeah.” (Mio)
“That’s why I am saying that I will accompany you and do a follow-up.” (Tomoe)
“That’s why I am doing it-desu.” (Mio)
Their words weren’t in sync.
“What?” (Tomoe)
“The one that’s caring is Waka-sama. And yet, there are idiots that just don’t know that the match is already over. Why is it that there are people troubling Waka-sama’s heart one after the other?” (Mio)
“…”
“That’s why I just want them to understand just what kind of person Waka-sama is, to those idiots and Hibiki as well. It is just that-desu.” (Mio)
From the words of Mio, Tomoe understood that it was impossible to convince her and gave up.
She has known that Mio and Shiki have been mostly complying with what she said.
“…This is something you are doing when already knowing about the power of the priestess, right?” (Tomoe)
With a power different from magic, the priestess Chiya is able to see through something within the person. Tomoe was confirming this of Mio.
With the report of Lime, this has become evident. Shiki and Tomoe are currently thinking about a countermeasure to it.
“Of course, I know of it-desu wa.” (Mio)
“Knowing that, you want to accompany him alone, that’s what you are saying, right?” (Tomoe)
“This time I won’t yield.” (Mio)
Saying that, she points her kitchen knife at Tomoe.
Without a single sign of joking.
“…Understood.” (Tomoe)
Without placing a hand on her katana, Tomoe lifted both of her hands and showed her intend to give up.
“You are unexpectedly obedient-desu wa ne. Even though I thought you would be a bit more persistent.” (Mio)
“The reason that the preparations for the meal were a bit earlier than normal was because you were expecting something like this to ‘happen’, huh.” (Tomoe)
“Yeah. I don’t want to delay the meal of Waka-sama, so I made sure that even with one match, it won’t happen.” (Mio)
Once again, the sound of the kitchen knife hitting the chopping board was heard.
Of course, it is because Mio returned to her preparations.
“I understand that you don’t want to hurt Waka or make him suffer, but you know, that’s something I don’t want, and probably Shiki neither. No one is thinking about wanting to see him break or crumble.” (Tomoe)
“Yeah. I wouldn’t forgive someone like that after all.” (Mio)
“You said you won’t be yielding this time, but I will be using that, Mio.” (Tomoe)
“…Eh?” (Mio)
“At least bring Lime with you. Even if he is like that, he is useful. He won’t be able to get in your way, and it is also useful as a pawn to use in that side, right?” (Tomoe)
“But…” (Mio)
“I won’t be yielding-ja, Mio. Waka will also be able to comfortably travel having one man alongside. Just as you wish, Shiki and I won’t be going.” (Tomoe)
“Waka-sama will…” (Mio)
“Please.” (Tomoe)
“Fuh~, understood. I will accept Lime coming along. But it is also prohibited for Tomoe-san and Shiki to stealthily follow from behind, okay?” (Mio)
“I wouldn’t do something like that. Also, I don’t know what the other side will do in the time you guys are in Limia, and I have asked Waka to avoid coming and going to Asora as much as he can. You will be able to do as you wish.” (Tomoe)
“I trust in you-desu wa.” (Mio)
“…”
“There’s no need for Waka-sama to care about the world to the point of collapsing. There’s also no need to protect the town just because there have been complains of here and there. Every single one of them, there’s a limit to being dense.” (Mio)
“…Don’t overdo it, Mio.” (Tomoe)
Makoto didn’t know that Tomoe and Mio had this kind of conversation before heading to Limia.
Tomoe feared the irregular possibilities that might be born from the long time that Hibiki and Makoto have lived together.
Mio was angered by the world that surrounds Makoto.
And Shiki is more into his students than Makoto thinks of.
Without noticing the thoughts of his followers, Makoto, Mio, and Lime head to Limia Kingdom today.

  1. Wow, I thought Mio just want to monopoly her waka and turn thus trip into date.
Never have thought, she want to show the world how badass her and her waka are to stop blind people to try to take advantage of him.
Btw, Shiki just got a consent for his chimera experiment, lol.
I hope Amelia will turn out ok after his experiment.

    1. Didn’t he chicken out of performing the experiment because of some unexpected feelings getting in the way? I assumed that was why he mentioned her assisting Lime, instead of telling her to basically sell her soul to Kuzunoha for the opportunity to become part of it.

  2. Thanks for the chapter..
It was my first comment but man… it maybe the only one for a while. I cant see makoto same as before after reading extra chapter today. It very shocking. Let’s hope time healing my broken heart…
Ps. For person with weak heart. Don’t read chapter extra 4. Sometime not knowing is better than knowing.

      1. I’m glad that someone understand MY feeling. And maybe others will say “in the end everything end well”. But to me it it was like survive a STUPID accident after lost one hand.
It just me or the story getting dark and darker? And here I’m this gonna be heart warming story like Death March.

  3. Thanks 4 the chapter!
Tomoe is like an overprotective mother and Mio is like a mother who would beat the crap out of bullies that bullied her kid.

    1. he should as strong as mondo if not more, but since everyone powers up from tomoe’s training, most likely 140+++? but since levels really just measure magic power, it might just be some unique skills he learnt and tactical knowledge which really powered him up.

  4. this…at first i thought this was just a simple one-directional novel, but from this chapter I think it is a little more then that.
    Thanks for the Hard-work!!

  5. I smell big event in the limia arc
I also curious what will mio do
Maybe she’ll say “Hibiki, are you had decide yet? Is it left or right?”
In front of people of limia royal and make Hibiki shiver
    It will be goooood 😂

    1. In Greek myth. And also Russian for that matter, sirens are depicted as bird like. The only differences between harpies and sirens were the singing voices, as harpies were horrible to listen to, and sirens were considered to be beautiful whereas harpies were ugly.
Sometime during the Middle Ages European scholars began to combine sirens with mermaids, as European mermaids were believed to also have enchantingly singing voices, and this is why they’re sometimes depicted as fishlike in modern culture.

  6. i just got the idea that shiki will experiment on amelia on the vaccine against Trashmoki evil eye.
this will be interesting if true coz all the females of asora need it in case of war against that Trashmoki.

    1. Do we even know if Tomoki’s eyes work on non humans? Did he have any Demi- hyumans in his harem?
I legitimately can’t imagine him trying to use it on Ema, but the thought kind of gives me pause…

      1. I don’t know, I kind of want to see him try it on a gorgon. I imagine it would need direct eye contact after all.

      2. Mc’s harem if off limit. But I rooting trashmoki to seduce any woman on that world now. Demon or hyuman, commoners or noble. When I see rona pov before. At the time Rona’s followers affected by trashmoki, I was disgusted. But now I will rooting him. I will say do your best tomoki kun. Make the demon taste their own poison. Especially Rona’s followers, I’m sure the demon that seduce makoto’s mother was have connections with Rona.

        1. Okay, firstly, are you really going to support Tomoki’s brainwashing the entire demon race out of sheer spite for this demon(and any that are related if it’s a tactical operation)? What about all the other wives and betrothed Tomoki is probably laying his hands on?
I think it’s best to just take these events as a standalone event without spreading the guilt around unduly. There’s the demon(s?) responsible, of course, but what about the others-the civilians? Are you going to blame the whole race and want to punish them all for this? And what about their own grievances against the hyumans?
Sorry for the rank, but the idea of supporting Tomoki all but demands I say something.

  7. Haaaa…………is so good to finally have one of those long as hell chapter..Thanks for the treat Regokai-sensei. Well the Neptune really are an interesting race, the joke that they look lie a gag but are awfully regal!!!!! And that battle junky that just joined if I didn’t new better, she would be the perfect candidate to be the next follower. Shiki after all you do want to teach some “extracurricular” material to Amelia you dog. And the MVP goes for Mio,man she is a sharp one, wonder what does she has in store for Limia. It good to see the diference in aproach from both sides of Mio and Tomoe, how they both are loyal to Makoto but each in their own way gives them personality and not mere plot devices.

  8. AHHHH GDI. Getting hype after read this chapter then getting down really hard after reading the extra chapter. GDI author. You played me like a fiddle.
WARNING. DON’T READ EXTRA CHAPTER. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

    1. What? Why not? When I read it, it gave me an interesting perspective and a lot of background information on Makoto’s parents I’ve been craving for a while.
Sure, it gave complicated feelings too, but it wasn’t that bad…

      1. Doesn’t change a thing. This is like revealing the childhood past of a serial killer . It doesn’t justified what she have done , it doesn’t mitigate it. It is only explained.

        1. I think a large reason I’m unaffected(besides difference in interpretation) is that…well…I kinda expected Makoto’s parents to be terrible people already.
So what if they’re the MC’s parents? Call it racism or whatever, but…they’re hyumans. They were raised hyuman. They didn’t even bother to tell any of their children about the deal or their past, and showed no real signs of being sad about losing their only son.
Learning this about their past is, frankly, better than the worst case scenarios I had in mind.

      2. What interests me is that bug…. that was totally unexpected side of her, well that’s good, I will looking foward to Makoto reaction when he finally learn his parent past.

      3. Yup that goddess unexpected side really unexpected. Goddess hater will see her in a new light. (Me is one of them) all I see in the goddess is a really selfish girl that betrayed by her own creation.
        And raise me some questions.
Is the goddess really don’t give blessing to demon from the start ? Or at some point she decided not give demon her blessings and exiled them…? And why? From past pov, it was showed that the goddess is a complete cruel person… I dare say she is a soft person in the end.

        1. Yeah, that’s been my evaluation of her from the start though.
She’s just a child that doesn’t know how to care for something and has a horrifically irresponsible streak. It doesn’t excuse what she does, but there might be a little sympathy there depending on how things go in the future.

      4. “And for the sake of being with him, she threw away her position and went through a bunch of hardships together with him, all the way until they were even voluntarily living in the harsh world of Earth.”
        This is wrong
The one who threw everything for her was makoto’s father.
she lost everything when she choice the demon guy by her own will .Her family despised her, she had nothing.
The whole time i believed that their love story was like “Romeo and Juliet”, then they run away far far away and living happy forever, i was so naive….
this is my last warning ,never see the hentai named “otome dori” ,l’m sorry for those that i could not save

        1. How do I put it…”they’re, after all, hyumans”. Since I learned about their true nature, I’ve always expected Makoto’s parents to turn out to have a fundamental “value dissonance” with us, which is already implied from what we knew about them up until now.
…Also, the point of Romeo and Juliet isn’t the romance, but the tragedy and a slight parody of teens that are ready commit their lives to any sudden passion that comes along.
……Huh. When I put it like that, Cass and Kanart kind of do suit that story.

      5. Enough with the NTR scene, its sick, please dont put that story in here. Rather than that, i wished for the two top senpai’s go to otherworld to seach for makoto.
I dont like those two parents background. A innocent female and a priestess at worse being misled like those bastard into foreplay, then saying its her own fault with that shit unreasonable lines. And a docile partner, who i want to punch in the face for having no sense of danger around his partner at all, if he knows that she’s a beauty.

      6. @vandal you can’t blame makoto father here. Everything happens when no one notice. And it was one of many demon invasion plan. And you blame makoto father because demon’s calculated plan? You also forget hyuman is brainless. They think they always safe with only blessings.
And this why it called NTR. When everyone noticed it always when it way to late.
Now my opinion about author is very low. She/he must be can’t find a good story for makoto’s parents. She/he put a NTR story as foundation of heart warming story ?
I mean it was started when makoto’s parents decided to abandon goddess’s world and come to earth.

        1. I still rather like the author’s storytelling though. Even this newest side story, although the incident itself leaves some bad feelings in its wake.
So what if Makoto’s parents had a dark history like that? Nothing in this other world is any good as a foundation. Hell, I’m not sure there’s any objectively good-hearted characters at all in this world. The author gave Makoto’s parents a reason to want to leave this world, and they incited a lot of strong emotions in the readers that we’ll remember for quite some time after reading it.
Why should it have been a sweet or heartwarming story? The one we’re reading isn’t even that sort of story(hilarious and “aww” inducing sometimes, but all in one-off moments). If that was the sort of story we had, the readers wouldn’t be having a whole problem with Makoto’s naivete.
I’m quite satisfied with how things are turning out so far and unlike a lot of other novels, I’m never left feeling “if only X happened, the story would’ve been so much better/more interesting”.

          1. Really I like the way this author give us the story, yes the cheating aspect of the history of the parents is enerving but is just a ploy to justify the reason why the leave the Goddes world, one realize by how vague the author is in the backstory of the parent how little he actually want to touch that aspect. The important thing about the extra is in fact to see hoe the Goddes interacts with other characters beside the MC and a little insight of her relationship with the planet and its races. Did any one noticed that she revealed that hyumans are her favorites, even though she also created the Demons?? Or how she has to do something that she doesn’t want because she made a promise with her believers and as a good she can’t refuse to comply?? There is more information to focus in the extra that the NTR that is just there to give a strong impact in the parents decision.

          2. Yeah, the real star of that side chapter was the goddess.
We got to see her in a….let’s call it vulnerable-light. It puts her circumstances into an interesting new perspective. To the point I’m actually afraid of finding out more about her because I realized just how much I love to hate her.

      7. At first it was heart warming story.
About how makoto save people when he doing things. About how people around him see him broke their commonsense in hilarious way. About how people start following him because his kindness.
I always thought it always gonna be that way.
To telling the I have a little story when find this title. So I always hope this gonna be heart warming story.
Talking about how human always see things in a way the want to see.
        Sorry for the ramblings.

      8. ….. maybe that’s why I don’t mind the extra chapter…. I have high resistance for NTR. Lol
Otome-dori, poppin cherry, and many NTR themed hentai are something that I saved under “favourite” sub folder……..

    2. It takes the malice out of her actions, but reiterates how socially awkward she is, which is probably to be expected given what she is. I mean why would you expect a God to understand a mortal viewpoint or vice versa?

      1. Me to. I’m changing my alliances to goddess’s campaign now. Lol
Came to thing about it. Why higher spirit able to visit goddess and complain to her? Are they goddess servants? Is she worth to served?

      1. Seriously, why is this such a big deal to people? The chapter isn’t that detailed about it and it seems par for the course for that world. That aside, what did people think would happen if Makoto’s mom is an overly sheltered priestess that meets someone experienced with women(like Lime?)?
The fact that Makoto’s dad married her anyway and they stayed in love already makes it a happy ending, I think.
……..Actually, that’s a good point. After a history like that, any speculation that Makoto might be an illegitimate child can probably be dismissed with confidence.

        1. Well you may be have a cold heart ,I think that was unnecessary to know,in the end the illegitimate child could be the eldest daugther or Makoto because is too weak than his sisters .
Hell i don’t know what think now

      2. In fact his mother is really love that lime like demon. And not regret that she love him. Maybe it is not big matter to you but to everyone.
And now understand what it’s feel. Betrayed by someone you trust. I always thought makoto’s parents is respectable person. But now I know his mother is not that respectable.
With the background like that I more confident to say makoto is illegitimate son.

        1. Calm down. I’m not saying what happened wasn’t a terrible mistake on mother’s part, but I don’t think it’s fair to hold it against her at this point. She was a young girl that was weak to passion. It’s like holding a the past over a reformed criminal’s head when they haven’t(as far as we know) done anything ever since the first offenses.
Spoiler in the next paragraph for the SS discussed in case any readers haven’t read it yet (Read it at: https://lightnovelbastion.com/release.php?p=402).
Remember that she fell in love with her husband all over again when he forgave her and still wanted to marry her despite what happened. And for the sake of being with him, she threw away her position and went through a bunch of hardships together with him, all the way until they were even voluntarily living in the harsh world of Earth.
At this point, while some may consider it implications that she’s prone to adultery, I considered it an assurance that the chances of her cheating with another man again(and getting pregnant with Makoto in the process) is practically zero. After going through as much as they did just to be together, it’s a pretty strong reaffirmation of love and foundation for their marriage.

          1. Well not to undermine Makoto father action or their love for each other, but she wasn’t in such a comfortable position after the affair, I mean it was an open matter, everyone new of it, and the fact that her family was noble means that problaby they lost MAJOR “face” not to mention the doubts that most have been erected in her profesion since she was a priest. I’m not sure but she most have been on the way to be exiled by the point they eveloped. But really if the fact that Makoto father choose to be with her despite of all that didn’t cement her love for him, there is nothing that would. So yeah I’m pretty sure that neither Makoto or his sister are ilegitimate children.

          2. Oh yeah. I accidentally glossed over that part. Yeah, Makoto’s mother was in a precarious situation, for sure(though I think the demon was probably blamed even more harshly).
Still, she went through the whole trial thing after running away and insisted on taking the hard way out, so I’m sure there was more than a little sincerity from her regardless.
It sounds like Makoto’s dad is a stand up guy though. If a bit of a plagiarist for stealing the goddess’s world lore. XP

          3. Well thats the privilaged that you guet when the other side doesn’t have copyrigth hahahahahahah!!!!!!! (>_<) , I think the author wanted a good reason for them to go to the extent of going to another world but didn't quite liked with what he came up with so he only glossed over the hole thing.

      3. I wouldn’t say the chances of her cheating again are zero, in fact she’s more likely to commit adultery again if we’re looking at it from statistical pov. And am skeptical on the whole ” falling in love with her fiance again” situation. The way i view it is that in mix of her regret and despair, she felt remorse for what she put Kanart through. So when Kanart came for her again, she agree to be with him not out of love, but the duty of repay him for his forgiveness.
Please forgive my rant, but I don’t why he forgave her. It may be the way I grew up, but such a betrayal isn’t and shouldn’t be forgiven that easily. I know it says that he forgave her because he loves her, but am going to need a better reason than that.

        1. I can’t deny that Cass was probably acting on the emotions you mentioned, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to include love among them. The way I interpreted it was that she was feeling guilty and obviously condemned by everyone else for what she did, yet Kanart forgave her and wanted to be with her anyway. That sounds like circumstances that bear passionate love to me. It’s also why I’m doubtful that she’d cheat again.
Statistically, yeah “once a cheater…” applies, but Cass is hardly a standard case when you also consider the trials she went through together with Kanart.
And on that subject, there probably is no reason for Kanart forgiving her other than love. That’s sorta how love works, and it’s not really that easy to just turn off or discard at your convenience. For better or for worse, it’s hardly unheard of for people to forgive cheating partners out of love alone.

      4. Agree. I also view his mother and father fall in love again is a way to repay his father’s kindness.
If you read it goddess also offer to let them to return to their families with goddess power. And they refuse it. And if I’m not wrong one of their reason is because his mother is really adore her demon partner and it was a trued.
So maybe the choice to go to earth is to start a new life without remind his mother to her lover. At last that what I see it.

        1. I think at least one of us is letting their minds fill in the blanks too much here to paint a picture much uglier or more lenient than what it is.
Makoto’s mother showed no indication of still loving the demon, as far as I could tell. There was a mention of “she certainly once loved the demon”, which strikes me as past tense as well.
The author also explicitly said she fell in love with him after that, so while other motives might be possible, Cass is certainly also motivated by love.

      5. Its funny if you say that Makoto is an illegitimate child. Its like saying that, that demons sperm is just lurking inside the mother womb to strike behind the scene LOLZ

        1. No demon son of course ,but maybe human and hyuman child, remember that hyumans are weak when they are in our World, the godess blessed makoto’s parents thas why they can live in Japan ,but Makoto was si weak when he was child like a “pure hyuman” , but his sisters not , maybe they are not pure hyumans and their father is japanese who kows ?????

        2. No, no, no. Let’s be realistic about this. Firstly, Makoto is the middle child, so there’s no way he’d be the demon’s child when he has an older sister that was born first.
Secondly, assuming that hyumans, demons, and humans all have similar pregnancy periods, there’s no way even his nee-san is the demon’s child, because the Misumis went through 12 major labors first, which is in all likeliness much longer than a pregnancy period.
Lastly, the question was always whether or not Makoto is an illegitimate child with some human blood in him. The reason for the question is because Makoto has a plain looking face(ugly by hyuman standards).

      6. Darn it i just imagined a foreplay on what the demon might’ve said on the mother before it died, like:
“Hahaha!! We’ve done many things now but you havent noticed, ive put a cursed on you!! Such a dumb b* you are!! Someday you’ll bear my child in the future hahahaha!!”
        Like that…. T_T

      7. @Kaitoan, You seems to misunderstand some thing and many people.
Cass didn’t said she still in love with demon and still adore him. it was in past it clearly stated “Cass had certainly once loved the demon”. And about her refusal to memory alteration,
Why is that? Your wish is for the two of you to become happy, is it not? If that is the case, I can alter the memories of everyone around you to make everything proceed smoothly. Even your previous wish.」(Goddess)
「Goddess-sama, there would be no meaning in doing such a thing. Not having any blessings at all would be better than receiving false blessings from those around us.」(Cass)
Then I can simply make it as if the cause of your problems never existed. That demon will have never existed in the first place. I will erase him for you right away; if I do that, you two can go and meet the future you desire with no obstacles. What started it all was the fact that I was not aware of his actions.」(Goddess)
「It is indeed I who loved him. But the future that we desire, Goddess-sama, is the one that that will come after you grant our wish exactly as we have made it.」(Cass)
When she refuse bug offer to memory alteration she didnt mean she still in love with demon rather she was saying that she was really love him that time with her all her sense not like she was hypnotised or raped thats why she didn’t want to alter memory of people but rather if she wanted to accept by people so she wanted to get accept with things she have done not false acceptation-false blessings.
        But the following lines
“Suffering in regret, she had fallen in love with Kanart when he proposed to her a second time after the demon’s death.”
I have doubt that chances of her committing adultery is not zero. Because its like when you hungry for whole day then food come at you which you don’t like but you still ate very happily until your stomach full.

    3. Thanks for the warning 😨
I wouldnt be able to stomach it. Still, thanks guys for the summary/insight 😅 which means i can now without a doubt skip it!

      1. You better do that if you can’t stomach it. The only reason I read it because the translator don’t put a fucking WARNING. I realized it way to late.
        Just watching hotaru no haka.
Now makoto parents past just like a shit that not matter anymore.
Let’s forget that unfaithful mother that even exist. Let hope all demon dead because all that happened is their dirty plot. Let’s hope our tsuntsuntsuntsuntsundere goddess change to tsundere goddess. She is the real victim in this story.

      2. If you want a better understanding of the series I recommend you to read it, the unpleasent thing is actually pretty ligth touched, it just that have a really heavy implication.

      3. Well that also true. I got a better understanding with that ch. And that also reasons why I lost all my respect to the mother and demon race. And the goddess is not really that bad before she betrayed by demon at last.
And maybe goddess summoned trashmoki is to punish demon with the same poison that they used. (Evil grins)
And hibiki summoned to fix hyuman moral.
I think that chapter told many thing.
Sorry makoto I changed my alliances to goddess campaign now. Lol

      4. @Kaitoan nonono, while it interesting to see the new side of the bug, this is still her world, her messed up world, she purposely drive demon into corner, she do horrible thing to anything that not Hyuman(or beautiful) she is NOT the victim she is the source if where all this started.

  9. Oh fk, not until now I understand this line ““…A large tree that raises up a forest. Also…a dragon and welcoming rain.” was all talking about Makoto vs Root’s shot.

    1. Ohhhhhh, you’re so right I just noticed that and also because of that I noticed that “A large tree that raises up a forest” are those dragon blood trees that the gods gave him.

  10. Didn’t expect Mio to be knowing everything but plays dumb(Or more like Doesn’t give a fuk).
It seems like there will be a biggg mess in Limia.

    1. In Greek myth sirens were always described to look similar to harpies. Both were depicted as having the head and upper body of a woman, but harpies were considered to be ugly, vulture-like things that screeched endlessly to disrupt the rest and well-being of man, whereas sirens were described as beautiful with enchanting singing voices that lured in sailors.
Sometime during the medieval period European beastiaries began to attribute fishlike characteristics to sirens in their conversions of Greek myth and they became blended with mermaids, but not the original Greek myths they were birds.

  11. Right after I was pleasantly intrigued by the races’ interview, the chapter sucker punched me with that irritating talk coming from Shiki…
There are 3 things I hate the most in the world.
    Lateness
    Misunderstandings and
Putting Words on Someone else’s mouth…
Shiki did one of them and led a young one to commit the other…
Makoto needs to know all of what’s happening behind his back, especially Shiki…
I can understand Mio, but Shiki is doing something he wants for his own gain without even telling Makoto, especially now that he reversed what Makoto wanted…
Im hoping this will not break Makoto’s heart in the future and leads to someting good…
Makoto sure is linient with this CONTROL contract… unless Makoto is subconciously controlling them to do things they will…
Enough of the Rant, I hope something good happens… Fuqin Shiki putting words in Makoto’s mouth… He doesn’t have any right to do that, even if it meant to lead the girl to go into that train of thought.

    1. Does Shiki see something in Amelia that we don’t?
I hope he has permission with Makoto and proper communication if it actually is about making her into a Lich or something… I’d be pissed if it’s srill something about a Grount since Amelia has Balanced status and Grounts have BALANCED POWERFULNESS

      1. isn’t it already clear that Makoto don’t really care about Amelia?he is glad if she can work with kuzunoha but not really a problem if she’s not, and Shiki knew this. but yeah he is bad for his hyuman part is surfacing when it’s about his student. at least this is still in permissible area and we still don’t know if he really plan to make her part of his experiment.
well shiki won’t do anything that makoto tell him to not to do.

    2. Let’s be honest. This kind of thing probably wouldn’t really bother Makoto. The main issue is that Shiki didn’t tell Makoto.
If he did mention what he wanted to do, I’m pretty sure Makoto would respond with something along the lines of “Eeeh…So even Shiki worries about matters like that huh? Okay~ I’ll cheer you on~”
In fact, I could see Makoto being kinda psyched about it, since Shiki is kinda like that super-reliable older brother that’s always helping him out and never asks for anything.

      1. Makoto actually hoping something happen between them, he only stepped back after learning that Shiki will kake chimera out of her….
        This gonna be interesting

    3. @Raphalice I had that same feeling when it was then revealed as such. It was probably good in the end when Shiki relented albeit seemingly still worried about Ame..lia’s… safety if anything else. I just hope this chimera thing isn’t what a majority here’s thinking. 😨

  12. ” if she were truly sharp, I wouldn’t even need to move out.” (Mio)”
so she intend to use hibiki to show the dark side of the world to Makoto?
tomoe and Mio yeah those 2 sides. 1 is always hiding something and only reveals what is conveniece for him, and the other don’t care about anything as long as he’s beside her and happy
in my opinion Tomoe should use Mio as her plan to reveals everything slowly with Mio helping makoto to toughen his mentality.

  13. I wonder if that loli priestess would collapse and vomit the food in her stomach the moment she saw Mio just like that certain snake , i mean just the fact that the black calamity is waltzing in town disguised as a hyuman are more than enough to caused a great shock right?

  14. First of all, thanks for the chapt!!
Second, WAT DA HELL WITH THE NEPTUNE GUYZ??? I feel like i just watched SLAYERS episode about fish walkers here, they have those typical stories and it ended up just thinking they wasted one episode and a worthless scene. Did the author watched those and did the same thing here???? What da hell!! If you review their conversation, its worthless!! They say they are strong, but prefered not to use it or to be used as well and prefered to die. In short, theyre not useful and the one useful is the Blue moon of all, to me.
Seems like we have another sofia type char again. Wonder if she’ll have a role in the future. And seems like she had a goal as well, and thats Makoto again lolz. Well, its just a feel though.
Seems like Lime will have a taste on the Siren’s next huh?? DAMN YOU LIME!!! WHY YOU ONLY HAVING THESE REVERSE RAPE HAREM HUH?!?!?!? IS THIS YOUR REAL GOAL HUH!?!?!?!? IF YOU’RE BUILDING TWO TITANIC SHIPS, IMMA BLOW THEM UP!!!! JUST GO TO HIBIKI ALREADY AND DIE TOGETHER THAN BE KIDNAP BY ONLY GIRL TRIBES JUST TO GOING BE REVERSE RAPE BY THEM!!!!!! JUST DIE!!!!
There’s a huge incoming tsunami huh? Seems like i kinda get why that priestess is clingy to the hibiki, maybe because of “peace” ambition, but if she sees Makoto, she’ll definitely see a bigger picture of “peace” better. Or maybe, she’ll see a horrifying scene upon meeting Makoto and Mio soon. Either way i’ll see that Limia will be unable to hold Makoto, with either its civil or forced. I just cant wait (hope theres cliffhang).

    1. About Amelia…. Seems like we’ll see a ship sailing lolz. Well good job and good luck to be a Lime-like-character soon. About the chimera, im thinking whats about to be born if the ships sail rather than whats gonna happen to amelia though

      1. The ship are not sink yet, it only have a little trouble with it’s sail and it seems that the area the ship parked is covered by thick mist, so Shiki didn’t really notice those ship.
The proof are how hard Shiki been on Amelia and then give her solution, that’s a special characteristics of tsundere character !
That was all just my hope though…. Amelia are too good to be cast aside and among the student I think she have good amount of screen time after yuno and sif.

    2. If the priestess sees all of makotos power hibiki would most likely get pissed and demand that he helps her. That or the girl freaks out and starts to wotship him thinking he is a god lol

      1. If that happened, we’ll be expecting a game over scene on hibiki, with Mio coming along. But of that kind of story wont happen to this kind of fanatic hero with brains.

  15. Many flags were raised this chapter. Each of makoto’s trusted companion have their own trouble. How will this turn out next time?
By the way. Amelia should totes become a chimera already… (Ed…ward…)

    1. Leaving humanity aside doesn’t always equal to chimeras… becoming an undead like her beloved shiki is also an option, becoming half spirit, half dragon… there are many posibilities
Even becoming an apostle (of course the god would be Makoto)

      1. Well word “chimera” itself can be translated as “a thing which is hoped for but is illusory or impossible to achieve.” so in essence become something that beyond your imagination can be reffered as one, I do hope she become Graunt-arachne-dragon-chimera girl, …. am I influenced by Shiki too much ?

    2. Just want to make tou know, I’m one of fans that support chimera path.
One of us already make a good name for amelia chimera form, Chimelia.
Anyway gogo chimera girl, become graunt and make Shiki fall for you.

  16. 1st of all thank you for that long ass chapter
And dang it’s stuff like these that just add up to my enjoyment of this series seeing the :
The Yandere Spider who wants nothing but her master’s wishes, hating the world that wants to take advantage of him
The older sister Dragon who wants to keep his master free from the ugly side of the world whether the master wishes for it or not
The OP species who all will bow down to the annihilation merchant
And the man himself just going with the flow as usual with his follower’s who will always be by his side
Damn makes me imagine a chapter where the follower’s thought that Makoto might have died I would love to see their reaction to that.

  17. Mio’s kinda late with this, most of the people who have conspired against Makoto (like the merchants or the demons) have learned their place…Really only Harem king left in terms of non-Goddess related opponents. Not sure what problem everybody has with Hibiki after showing her Makoto’s power already

    1. Im seeing similarities between hibiki and batman, she sees anyone powerful as a potential threat and wants either ways to control them or a way to stop them if they block her path, she knows makoto is powerful and has powerful followers but not how strong, that makes her uncertain, she really wants to know how strong he is and how she could control him if needed, peoples problem with her i think is that she cant trust him and wont try to talk to him except to sneakily extract information, as well as her perception that everything she does is good and just even if only for the hyumans, she considered and discarded helping the demihumans as too difficult, she is very much a politician, saying the right things and trying to look good, but hiding her true motivations and plans

      1. Good analysis of Hibiki, that been said, there’s also difference between she and Batman. First, bat will look for the greater good, if the situation requires it, of the whole world. Hibiki on the other half, has a lingering and growing racism against the demons, making that the solutions she seeks may end in the slavery of the demon race or if she judge it necessary the extermination of the whole race just to favors the humans, reason for what the war for the demons is basically live or die.

      2. Hibiki realised that she can’t save everyone so she chose the demons as acceptable casualties.
I feel like she would be willing to purge the entire world just so she could create a single country where there is peace. That dangerous mindset is what makes her scary in my opinion. Se has the skill to become a ruler(puppeteer) holding the world in her hands without anyone noticing that she put everyone on a leash.

    2. It’s pretty obvious what Mio’s intention is. Chiya is going to “see” Makoto, and probably Mio as well, and Hibiki will have to then deal with the knowledge that a Demi-god is not only fapping about and doing what he wants, but is also not supporting either side of the war while at the same time having little to no empathy toward hyumanity in general as he is perfectly ok with letting the, die by the hundreds so long as he isn’t involved. Given her personality, she isn’t going to take this personality well, and Mio is going to obviously just let her confront the truth and try to deal with it, whereas Tomoe would probably try to keep Hibiki in ignorance (or Makoto, depending).
So we will probably see some actual character development from Hibiki coming up. I think it will be interesting to see how a more Spider-Man type of responsibility hero reacts to the blasé indifference of Makoto’s Silver Surfer.

    1. That is bad though in the long run since by plugging the volcano the pressure underneath will have nowhere to go and accumulate pressure and one day will burst.

  18. ah~ it’s like seeing an example of parenting style….tomoe was a doting parent…solving all the big problem by herself then let makoto tackling the simple one by levelling step by step, mio on the other hand was a challenging parent the one that believe makoto was an excellent kid and only need minimal support
by the way it looks like chimelia form will really come true hoho~

      1. i believe it is more
Tomoe: I want waka to be happy no matter the way or cost
Mio: I want waka to be able to do what he wants no matter the cost
Both ways make them do things in secret that influence Makoto and have the probability to make him unhappy when they go wrong.

  19. Hello everyone; where can I find spoilers?
I saw it obe on Facebook but I can’t seem to find again.
Pls direct me to the link

    1. Well, everyone has different opinions about the Spoilers, in my case I don’t really mind them, there are just information about the facts that occurs in the history.
For me, is more enjoyable the road to the fact and the aftermath, than the fact itself, because in the road, you also learn about the contexts for which the facts are unfolding, but we’ll that is just my opinion, have fun with the Spoilers.

    1. — “…If I remember correctly, they didn’t call it an elixir right? For some reason, I feel kind of betrayed though.” (Makoto) —
Ahahahaha, that is entirely different mermaid, Makoto…
      XD…
      — “Thanks. Having so many worthy opponents was fun.” (Levi)
It seems like she went and confronted the strong-looking animals that live in the sea by herself.
And at times, those targets could also be living beings from the land as well. —
      Whoa, a battle junkie…
      XD…
      — “Yes! This is a splendid place! There are people I have never seen before, and I also saw several strong Neptune Sea Lords, who I have always wanted to fight with one day. You Highland Orcs, the Mist Lizards, and those Arkes as well!” (Levi) —
      Straight battle junkie…
      XD…
      — The next ones were the Sirens.
Their upper half was that of a woman, and their lower half that of a bird. —
Ah, a kin of Harpy huh…
      @.@…
      — I can’t say much about others, but I feel like this is similar to seeing circus lions jumping fire rings, and then expecting the wild lions to do that as well. —
      Makoto comparing is absurd…
      XD…
      — “And I am the head and a fireman, protecting the living of everyone, whale race, name’s Serwhale Gay. Being granted this audience today, I feel truly happy.”
      …Gay.
Goddess…just what are you creating? —
Nope, it’s bug Makoto, bug have no taste…
      :3…
      — “Even if you say that, I just can’t understand what you mean.” (Mio)
“About accompanying Waka-ja yo.” (Tomoe) —
      Ah, so it’s that…
      @_@…

      1. Sirens appear in Greek myth. They entrance (see Tomoki eyes) sailors with their songs, and cause these sailors to land on their island. The victims will obedienty sit and listen to their songs until they die of starvation… The Odyssey teaches us that blocking your ears with beeswax is the best way to survive a predicted encounter.

  20. “The one that’s caring is Waka-sama. And yet, there are idiots that just don’t know that the match is already over. Why is it that there are people troubling Waka-sama’s heart one after the other?” (Mio)
    i know mio feel
makoto are just teenager who want to live peacefully (become merchant) in the new world but because he has tremendous power he is something that can not be ignored by other big power that’s why all of those bugs are try to gain favor from him. that’s why mio get fed up with all those bugs. She think that those bugs should be purged once for all wkkwkw

    1. I don’t think Mio cares much about the ones trying to curry favor, she’s probably talking about the ones who are insisting on baring their fangs at him, even after knowing what kind of person he is.

      1. I started reading this because of I heard there was an arachne girl in it and also major character. I am disappointed she is in a 100% human form but it doesn’t change the fact that I started reading it because of Mio.

    1. Tomoe saw his memories (just like she sees everyone’s). It’s already been implied that he was pretty vicious when it came to founding his company, and Tomoe probably doesn’t want Makoto to hear about that. What surprised me was that Mio figured it out.

    2. Are you misinterpreting? Tomoe can see Rembrandt’s memories, so she knows exactly how bastardly a mafia merchant he was in his youth, which is something Zara has more or less hinted with all the subtlety of a bull in a china shop.

  21. Light Novel Bastion just released the 4th extra chapter ( https://lightnovelbastion.com/release.php?p=402 ), and… I’m conflicted. It really puts the Goddess in a new light. Also somewhat interesting to see what his parents were like, especially given how similarly Makoto is to them in relaxed chapters like this one.
But something that bothers me is… what are the Scylla’s clothes made out of? I mean she’s swimming the seas with a sailor suit uniform, right? It’s got to be some kind of impressive material.

    1. Yeah…it really gives you complicated feelings, doesn’t it?
Overall, I have to say I liked the chapter. Especially the new, almost sympathetic perspective on Bug(almost). She’s like a child with a tantrum problem that genuinely doesn’t know what’s going on or why things are happening the way they are.

      1. Well finally I got to understand completely what happened, I’m a little sadder of what happened with Makoto moms now that I know, and the fact that Makoto papa didn’t guet to kill in the most slowly and painfull way posible that bastard Demon.

  22. The Author really put all his souls when creating the Neptune race…….Joke Soul + Fighting Spirit + Seriousness + Drama…. I won’t get surprised if at the end, the one who defeat the bug is Neptune, the true hero.
And yeah, Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki really have a frightening dark side. I still don’t understand what Shiki really feel about Amelia and other students is. Is he really care? Don’t care? Care but say like he don’t care? Or just don’t understand himself? Mio want to show the reality to Makoto? And Tomoe think that Makoto still not ready for that? If Tomoe’s decision make it too late to teach Makoto about it, I feel that it will be a bit similiar to the case of the ‘joke hero’ in arifureta.

      1. At the very least, the only thing he felt before the contract was anger / hatred, since that was the only way for him to remain sane.
When the contract restored him, I think it was like a creature that emerges from its egg and recognizes the first thing they see as their parent. In other words, Shiki was so overwhelmed by his positive feelings towards Makoto, that anything less didn’t really register.
It took something of the magnitude of emotions that Amelia displayed here to make his own emotions begin to stir. I guess her perseverance paid off. If it was some random girl he barely knew, he probably wouldn’t even remember her mere moments after concluding the experiments.

  23. I’m agreeing more to Mio here. Rather than protecting Makoto by sheltering him, better to make him used to it. Vaccine won’t turn you into a retard after all.

    1. If I had to pick a side, yeah, Mio is where I’d stand.
That said, I think Mio’s thinking is a bit simplistic too. It’s basically the argument of “Why doesn’t he just kill ___?”
There’s lots of risks that come with truly stepping into the world’s spotlight, and Mio doesn’t care about those, even if Makoto might, because those risks ultimately can’t endanger the only one that matters to her.

      1. Tomoe probably sees some problem with her methods also with all the foresight she has. Mio’s method is not to her taste but she knows she’s the most loyal to Waka and more sensitive to his feeling so she probably thinks she can take some chance with it

      2. I think Mio’s plan will be very ‘brutish’, just a feeling I have knowing what Mio is like… but no matter what… it will be… like Psychronia said somewhere above, GLORIOUS!

      3. That’s true, just like one of his dream when he took a step and join demon army..
I’d say aside from his oh-so-op mana capacity, Makoto’s luck is so OP too that he can be naive and still get away with it.

    1. The funny part here was how Makoto found nothing wrong with that. Only after Ema pointed it out did he notice. Makoto has already truly become an absurd existence without even noticing it.

  24. A debacle that will never reach Makoto, like any other. I wholeheartedly agree with Mio. Tomoe is preventing dusts to even graze Makoto to the point that he just needs to call out and a golden carpet will be spread out in front of him. Ofc, there will still be pebbles and rocks along the way but nothing major that will impede his march. He is, and will, only see what is in front. Any other thing is considered harmful and unnecessary. Because why not.
I’m glad we get to see Mio has sth she won’t yield to the manipulative(ish) Tomoe, although we all know Tomoe means no harm. And just wanted to keep the ‘truly’ harmful elements from reaching her child. In that aspect, Tomoe can be naive while Mio is the Queen. With A Whip. While Shiki is the subservient tsundere-butler with Amelia as one of his Pleiades. Ema as the obvious overqualified secretary…
…while secretly has the hots for me.
    Cheers for the chapter~
Also, looking forward to Mio wreaking havoc.

    1. with subordinates like them, its small wonder Makoto cannot have any character development. The last character development is when he visits merchant guild and got slaughtered by Zara when nobody is there to help him

      1. Actually, Makoto had a lot of chances to grow mentally and emotionally even before and after the Zara incident. As they say, every day is an experience and a chance to grow than yesterday.
He just chose to take his time, he is only a highschooler after all. Nothing weird with that.
…if he was still in Japan.
Makoto should just ditch them all, imho.

    2. Well, keep in mind that Makoto was only able to get as far as he did without hitting a Bad End because of Tomoe carefully paving the road for him.
He definitely needs to cultivate his character a little more, but I’m not sure how much room would be healthy for him to work with.

      1. although he indeed avoided it, who’s to say this was the only reality where he avoided going crazy. We were only shown what, four? alter-reality so far. How about the other possibilities where he never met any of the current key characters. A reality where he instead met with a merciless and arrogant mammono in the wasteland, got overwhelmed by the clueless Makoto and then became buddies after calming down. Then instead went to explore the unknown parts of the wasteland away from the hyumans, Shen, Spider, Onii, and Lich. Since he didn’t meet Ema, there’s also no Shen, Orcs, Spider, Lich, Onis, Rinon, Rembrandt, Hero etc., because afterall, his Bad End only ever happened with them around.
when the Author included alternate realities into the story, all possible scenarios also opened up. There’s also bound to be a reality where Makoto hid his powers and lived a secluded life with some other beings after overcoming the harsh wasteland and language barrier with the hyumans. Not involving himself more than necessary.

        1. …Okay, that’s fair.
There are probably a couple ways to good ends depending on random choices made.
I somehow feel that Makoto is too strong to avoid being confronted by major players in the world though.

      2. @Suzushina
Rather, he wouldn’t meet a bad end if he didn’t come in the hyuman territory, so the best way avoid the bad end was to stay in the wasteland and thus following the godess advice (more like order)… shit!

        1. Ah, but you’re thinking about it the wrong way.
Since Makoto never realized about his air-distorting magic power until he reached a hyuman settlement, chances are that he’d let it leak for much longer, at a level many big shots in the world would feel. Over time, people would come investigate, only to find Makoto carefreely living with his mamono harem in the wastelands.
I wonder whether it’d be good luck or bad luck if Makoto ran into the Gorgons first…?

      3. Okay. I dunno why i stumbled back here but, you guys… I was obviously trippin.
Anyway, if i have to say which he first would meet… It eould be that Scylla-whats-her-face.

  25. Eh, I thouht Amelia has a feeling for Makoto instead of Shiki. She was hoping to be seen by Makoto instead of shiki in the tournament right?
I hope Amelia doesn’t change much after being experimented by Shiki.

    1. You couldn’t be anymore mistaken. Makoto also mentioned it a couple times before that she seems to harbor feelings for Shiki. As for the tourney, she wanted Makoto to see her growth, as with her peers. And as mentioned here as well, Amelia respects Raidou but also a bit jealous?

    2. Reading previous chapters too, it also seems like Amelia abit dislike Makoto because he’s quite ugly (trait everybody forget) and he’s cruel in contrast to good-teacher Shiki

      1. Makoto is ugly? In his drawing I like his face though? Why does everyone say that he is ugly? Compared to the rest of the chars he is a bit lacking though, but that is his charm!

          1. *pats back* There there. If it makes you feel any better, I’m the ugly one there too.
And going the other way, in a world of uglies, you’d be drop dead gorgeous~ 😉
…….I lie. In a world of uglies, standards of beauty are probably different and so we’d still be ugly. 🙁

      2. AHAHAHAHAHAHAH ! You guys are worrying over strange things !
        Getting all lovey-dovey suddenly ? AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

  26. So we finally have Tomoe’s background manipulations come to a conflict with Mio. Just like the readers have been discussing, it seems Tomoe is somewhat overprotective of Makoto(arguably with good reason), and has been shielding him from any undesirable elements she can. Not…sure how to treat that exactly. I’m glad Mio caused us to finally address it though.
And speaking of Mio, it’s almost like she’s an avatar of all the readers that are going “for f*cks sake Makoto! Stop acting so beta!!!!!!” and the like. She seems to have a plan, but it’s the foresight-less Mio we’re talking about so I’m not sure how much to expect…
Finally, there’s Shiki, actually crossing some boundaries between him and Makoto for personal reasons. Makoto would probably be totally fine with it(heck, the first real thing he gets to do for Shiki’s sake), but we just know that Tomoe and Mio would punish him harshly for it, despite themselves. Somehow…it feels significant for Makoto’s followers to be able to behave like this. They’re not mindless slaves that are automatically brainwashed to love him, they’re still themselves to a degree(for all the contract had also changed them for the better[?]).
In any case, good stuff. Really good stuff.

    1. I don’t think Mio lacks foresight.
It’s just that she don’t give a fuck.
And for a good reason, there’s nothing we have seen so far that can be a threat to Kuzunoha/Asora/Makoto, so they can pretty much do whatever.
But now she has a goal, and a plan, time to ready some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the show.

          1. Oh, I’m not so rich myself. Most of this stuff is stolen with the exception of discount instant cocoa mixes.
            ……….Shhh. Don’t tell on meeeeee.

    2. nah, she’s quite smart. Its just that Mio does not understand why everybody else need to go in a very roundabout way. Tomoe’s plan is usually quite complicated and relies on stealthily dealing with everyone without letting Waka knows and contaminate him. Mio’s plan is probably alot simpler, brute-force them and let them know its futile struggle against absolute power “that can unconciously nullify any obstructions”

  27. Thanks for the chapter. Oh boy mio is planning to throw a wrench on the whole world by showing that makoto is not someone you should mess with, I wonder what will happen to his plans about accepting new students if mio’s plan succeeds.

  28. Noooooo! POOR AMELIA (congrats to the other three though. Good job.) She wanted to join so badly! (;﹏;)
….Wait, what? Amelia knows about Womanizer Tomoki? When? How? Well then Makoto should definitely warn her about his eyes!
Wait….is he….YES! We thought the ship had sunk, BUT IT TURNS OUT IT WAS SUBMARINE! We’re still afloat! WE’RE STILL AFLOAT GUYS!

    1. Rumors probably. Heroes are world-famous and its well-known fact that Tomoki travels with all-girls party (read as army). The eyes are something that normal hyuman cannot defend against (even Sofia can’t nullify it) and Makoto only see Amelia as better-than-average Jack-of-all-trades so he sees no point telling her about the eyes and it will restrict her futures too. At least she will be happily loving him if she does go there….

  29. Thank you for the nice long chapter!
As time progresses, Makoto’s followers are becoming more complex as characters. It’s pretty good Tomoe does some things to protect him, it shouldn’t be forever, but considering how fearsome Makoto can be it may be a good idea for now. So Shiki doesn’t just see Amelia as a potential experiment, he actually cares a bit for her. I think Makoto picked up a bit on that already, but Shiki was able to divert that…
Asora is developing nicely, too. And I really wonder what Makoto is…

    1. I think Tomoe is over protective of Makoto.
Can’t blame her too much though, Makoto is basicly a multiple use directed nuke with a pressure trigger that can go of in any direction at random times.
Yeah, you want to be careful with on of those.
That said, i think Tomoe should introduce Makoto to less happy sides of politics and trade a lot faster, keeping him in the dark just makes it more likely some random event makes him go off (like the first meeting with Zara almost did).

  30. Tomoe, what a dangerous word you said. Well, it’s true that for Tomoe, Mio and Shiki, Lime are just an eyes, leg and arm to collecting information and also a sacrificial pawn if the situation demanded or be dealt with if he betray Makoto. And Lime himself know his position are pawns.

    1. He probably has a good idea what his four bosses are at this point. When working for monsters and gods, believing that you’re anything more than a pawn is the height of foolishness, hubris, and madness.

      1. I dunno, after all the important work he seems to be doing, shouldn’t he at least be a knight at this point?
Of course, Makoto’s followers are all Queen pieces, and Makoto himself is the 3-year old that can change the rules at his whim in this analogy…

        1. Lime seems to be used mainly with spy work, I just feel that knights are too notable for that, so I see him as a stealthy pawn that infiltrates the enemy and slides a knife between their ribs if the opportunity presents itself.

          1. But pawn doesn seem to suit his power…
Can we at least have him be a chain of two or three pawns that protect each other and make it a pain in the ass to capture without a trade?

      2. It’s not about power but his position within Asora. Remember several ch back when Makoto shooting purple cloud in Lorel.? Lime thought he’s not necessary anymore to Makoto and accept his fate killed by Makoto hand. That’s why i said Lime understand his position are just pawn within Asora

      3. No, isn’t a pawn actually what’s describes that Spy(lol) the best ?!
Discreetly sneaking behind the enemies rear lines, and then striking at their back with full power by promoting ! Of course, there are other means than physical attacks. (Information => Bishop, Assassination => Knight, Support => Tower, Rampaging => Queen)

  31. Look like thanks to Mio Makoto will get some balls… Whit this he Will obtain the determination that he lack of. I dont have Makoto ( i gave my thank to todo that he ido not a Stallion) but is just to narrow minded yo the point i almost stop reading this novel .
Thank you for the great work your quality nevera drop and i Hope that u get the proper rest that you diserve Rei-Sama

  32. FIRST TIME COMMENTING THANKS !!!!!
So mio seeks to show makoto’s danger level and tomoe is fighting anxiety due to the possibility of hibiki and makoto getting together. Also what the hell makoto?! You dickless monster, how can you let lime have his was with the gorgons and not only him but rotsgard’s guys and probably asora’s residents and those adventurers that come to the mirage city “asora”. since lime isn’t trashmoki he’s done it with more than a few by my estimate and probably still has a physical relationship with some and counting other people i would say the weak gorgons and village elder (s) are still on the menu but i guess suicide would be better than facing mio, oh well.
“In the time of the exam, they discussed of these circumstances with the other races, and it seems like it didn’t turn into any problem, so I decided not to get involved in it.”
“People like Lime should be relieved about that.”
“Even if he were attacked because of a misunderstanding, the experienced Lime will probably be totally in, yeah.”

    1. Think of it as something like….. symbiosis. Its not like Lime is weak guy and gorgon already prostituted themselves already. His seeds is better than alot of other guys

    2. If i managed to comprehend your comment, and i admit to a strong possibility that i did not…
You are upset that Makoto let’s Lime have sex with Gorgons, and allows Gorgons to work in a brothel, while also disapproving of Tomoki raping women through brainwashing?
There is a very important difference there.
Gorgons are having sex with Lime, and other men (and possibly women) out of their own choice,
and Tomoki is using magical brainwashing to rape women.
      Big, big difference.

  33. My GOD I love the Neptunes. They’re just so…what’s the word….dandy? Cultivated by experience? Civilized? Probably the most civilized race in this world, when I compare them with others. And then you take their gag-like appearance into account…
    Serwhale’s tale managed to get me a bit emotional and I’m not too proud to admit it. It sounds like they’ve had it rough. ;-;
I wonder if we’ll see the other Neptune faction in the future? Possibly allied with the demons?

    1. wow that was a really good warmup chapter for the next one |lemia Kingdom visit| .
this is a long chapter so it count as a regular + sponsored ch. but is the sponsored chapter the one for next week cos there is non for left on this week no i should say there is more than the norm for this week,
this new patch is really complicated i cant keep track of it at all.
thanks for the chapter. it was a great one

  34. “Even if their names were gags as well, they were diligent people. Neptunes, how fearsome.” (Makoto)
    LOLOLOLOL
MIO CHAN BEST WAIFU DESU !!!!!!!
can’t wait too see chiya reaction xD
thx for the chapter reigo !!!

  35. Translator down! Translation has reached critical limits!! Someone bring the Red Bull, 5 hour energy, monster and a 7-11 big gulp!
Really good. Thank you for the translation!

    1. Yep, he’s definitely falling for that student. One would’ve think his daily skin peeling would have disgusted him of women…But he’s a resilient one. Or should I say, as expected from a Lich !
      AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

  36. Amelia x Shiki ship is about to sail
go for it Amelia I’ll cheer for you
I Like Mio act towards Makoto and his surroundings
I also like Tomoe of how the way she protects Makoto
I like their contrasting attitude it balance things out well from each other with their excesiveness of their ways
    thanks for the chapter

  37. Fufufu. These odd races with energy are fun.
For starters, I like this Levi. I didn’t really realize until now since Tomoe(all the cake i’ll eat in 2017 that Tomoe is the one who invited her) somewhat qualifies and we had Sophia for the longest time, but most sides in this story lack a battle maniac type, huh? I can’t even imagine what a scene of a high school girl vs sea urchin would look like.
And why is this the first I’ve heard of Asora Rankings? I wanna know more about that! D:
After her are Sirens(I imagined Harpies from the description though), which gave an adorable image of them flapping about happily at the idea of a singing festival.

    1. “And why is this the first I’ve heard of Asora Rankings?” Actually, the Spy(lol) and the gardener Oni did talk about it during Rotsgard invasion.
But it true that I wanna see the exact ranking !

    2. read Daidai wa Hantoumei ni Nidonesuru for the high school girl fighting sea creatures. she appears sometimes, but as i remember chapter 3 and 12 are dedicated to her. 12 has the sea urchin:)

  38. Well… I am even more grateful for the translation, Reigo-senpai. I wasn’t able to understand the puns with the Neptunes before.
Sorry peeps, but Spoiler-san is still stuck in another world right now. So no spoilers.

      1. If you’re talking about Spoiler-san, I said it a chapter or two ago. The last time he possessed me and got hit by Truck-kun, he was sent to another world where he has to defeat the demon king instead of going back to the 5th dimension. I was lucky to not get sent with him.

      2. Someone talked about defeating a Demon King ?!
Is he strong ? Where is he ? What kind of maiden did he messed ?!

          1. I feel it’s prudent to reiterate that firstly, Makoto and Ema threw poor Eva into a hell she wasn’t even allowed to go insane to escape from, out of (convenient) kindness.
Secondly, Shiki defines “dead” much more…leniently than we do.

          1. I’m down for some test tube “improvements”. Adaptive ability, perhaps. Or a bit of Asora’s various genes like Mio’s regeneration ability. Or just an elemental hybrid of sorts that gives her abilities of all mid level spirits of all elements…

          2. I personally think that hyuman or human experimentation is pretty logical and not that bad.
I mean if there arwnt any human experimentation in the past we won’t know a lot of medical knowledge that we have today… I guess like what an old scholar once said…
“Heresy to nature in the past, and advancements in knowledge in the future”
That’s just me though… sorry for the sudden rambling, got a sudden inspirational flash.

          3. As the saying goes, “Great Science is built on the shoulders of giant-shaped corpses.”
Go for it Amelia. F*ck nature. F*ck hyumanity. For science.

          4. Well hyumanity can f*uck themselves since its that bug-dess creations… they better revolt and overthrow that bug-dess if they want to be truly grow as a living being

          5. I just finished reading the ss…
So the bug-dess was broken hearted and felt betrayed, and add to the fact that she doesn’t like ugliness, made her really edgy when she dealt with Makoto…
            Still… not cool bug-dess…

      1. I smell graunt girl birth …
        Seriously.
Shiki obsession + Amelia willpower(+love?) + Mio&Tomoe hell training course + body modification
Plus waka sama absurd creation magic…
It’s possible she will be the center of those power twisted and mixed together, creating a whole new power.

    1. Thanks for the….. whole awesome long fuckin’ good chapter!
So much I want to retort this time
A few chapters back I called Amelia to be chimera, I can see the ending now !
Awesome Tuna dancer…. I pity the mangaka that will get to this point someday…
Honestly didn’t think Mio cared about how the world view makoto at all, this time I was taken by surprise of how childish Mio can be.
At one point I want Makoto to called all his follower and said “confess!”
      That will be hillarious lol

  39. I get the feeling that Levi qualifies to join the group of Makoto’s core confidants. Her personality is twisted enough, anyway.

    1. Tomoe’s like an overprotective older sister figure
Mio’s scheming behind his back (for his own good)
Shiki’s disobeying Makoto’s protocol about Amelia (I don’t think Makoto would mind tho, he wants that researcher-Shiki to mellow down after all)

      1. I wonder what Amelia’s reaction would be if she manages to succeed and tries to get Makoto’s blessing?
We all know Makoto’s reaction would be something like a “congratulations~” or just an “okay” accompanied by a silent thumbs up.

  40. Seems like turbulent times are coming for all….. Or at least that’s what this chapter seems to be hinting at?

    1. As soon as the shrine maiden sees Makoto, she’ll tell Hibiki exactly how dangerous he is if she can. Now that Mio is going to be seen, it’ll end the same. Hibiki, justice-minded fool that she is (not to mention the fact that she dislikes powerful beings like the Devil not under her control) will most likely declare war on Kuzunoha when she gets the chance. Maybe not immediately, but she will.

      1. I actually want Chiya to see a power that not just “i have never felt power like this before” and faint. I want her to get to the point “beyond” what a “power” could be. The power Chiya has is an eye/ability to “see through” someone, and we know that when she saw Mio epicness is going to happen, but what about Makoto?
The last chapter when he deal with Root attack and use Creation to create the arms with his magic power and sheer willpower, made the Shiki could “felt/see” the limit of Makoto magic power, even though it’s steel in the essence of capacity beyond him.
But what about the heroes and their nakama? they are powerfull but it’s still in boundary of hyuman(Sofia is not “strong” she is just “skillfull” in battle and killed a lot so her level is almost 1000, but i think still has capacity of magic power “in the realm of hyuman”), it’s in state of so pitiful more Mio. I want Chiya to at least make it “uncomprehensive” when she see through Makoto. Yes, she saw battlefield when people die and even her comrade die, idk with her sense of evil and justice, but i still it;s still on child level, she just knew that demon race need to fight or “bad things” gonna happen. I just want her to witness what is beyond sky and what galaxy is like.
It’s just my selfish wish and imagination, so you do not need to pay seriuosly, i know the author wont make it so exaggerate to that level.

      2. Justice minded fool? Are you reading the same novel I am? I mean Sure she treasures being a Hero. But she isn’t someone who would do something as foolish as Making war with a non-hostile neutral force, just because of their danger if provoked.

        1. Maybe she isn’t like that. Wrong words, sorry. But it is no mistake that she plans to eliminate Kuzunoha when she is able, no matter if Makoto’s actually done anything to deserve it or not.

          1. I don’t think so. She doesn’t need to. In addition to that She’s playing a Hero. How would it look if she went after a Company that has a good reputation?

          2. She doesn’t need to. She already had the perfect method decided the chapter after she first met Makoto. Have Kuzunoha and Gritonia go at each other’s throats after the war is over. That way, it’s either mutual destruction or she can clean up what’s left. She wants both of those parties destroyed because she can’t control them. That’s why I took back what I said about ‘justice-minded fool’. If it was anyone besides Makoto, it probably would’ve worked. But either way, as long as she has enemies, she doesn’t need to get her hands dirty.

  41. Praise be to shiki at least his lich side is not going rampant anymore..please shiki treasure amelia..
Mio pls dont fuck up makoto’s mind to the point he will become a target of the goddess ( not now at least its too early)

  42. ““Hibiki isn’t even to fear. Isn’t Tomoe-san just being overcautious?” (Mio)”
Shouldn’t that be “Anything” instead of “Even” or something along that line?

  43. That spider…cunning.
She’s going to show the world what’s behind the veil, damn is this going to be a harsh wakening, the development on her personality is awesome, from singleminded yandere to the evil mastermind.
    Thanks for the chapter!!!

    1. I don’t think she can be considered mastermind. I get the feeling that her plan is brute-force, “show them the foolishness of challenging Waka-sama” type thing.

      1. A mastermind is the one who brings victory through plotting in the background.
Mio’s plot (from the background): Let the fools start shit with Waka -> Let Waka end shit with fools -> Let natural result take its course -> Victory -> ??? -> Babies with Waka -> Happy End
        See? Strategic brilliance.

          1. Honestly, I’m more worried about Makoto’s lifespan. Getting to have children with him would be nice, of course, but I think it’s even more important that he’s able to live as long as they do.
…besides, if they have immortality, then they can take all the time in the world to work out a solution if they can’t have babies the normal way. Researcher Shiki to the rescue~

          2. Makoto is abnormal, so we can safely assume that he will be immortal… or nearly immortal… I don’t want to see him dying after all! (Unless he is truly happy in the best sense of the word)

          3. Immortality is a tricky thing in terms of desirability.
It sounds neat depending on the finer details, but I personally classify it as something that barely makes it on the list of things I’d wish upon my worst enemy-and only after acknowledging I’m a vindictive bastard.
