Chapter 196: Unknown Sky

Happy Lunar Year everyone!

Sari was looking at the stars while feeling deep unpleasantness for being unable to arrange her mixed thoughts.

Her eyes were distant as she kept looking at the stars.

“The scale is one, two, three, or maybe four…no, that’s not it.”

She mutters lowly.

Without being heard by anyone, those words fade and vanish.

“Even though what I have to do hasn’t changed, I can’t move.”

For her, this was something unusual.

Think and act.

She has never hesitated in acting.

Abandoning her own position till now, she easily did something like engraving the slavery stigma onto her body, and the actions following that.

And this here is the result of it.

In the next move, she has to enter deep into Raidou’s domain. And yet, in this place that he has brought her into himself -In Asora-, Sari has been unable to make contact with Raidou properly.

The actual state of affairs is that the time she has been staring at the starry sky has increased.

“Could it be that Raidou is the king of a different world?”

Sari looked at the starry sky and thought this.

It is heavily different from how Raidou himself sees it, but the understanding of Sari wasn’t that far from reality.

He has a space called Asora.

That space has been expanding in size, and currently, it has a vast land, sky, and sea. It is already in a state where it is fitting to call it a ‘world’.

And one can only enter Asora with them as intermediaries, and they themselves can enter and exit as they want.

From the standpoint of Sari who doesn’t know the circumstances, Raidou is the king of a parallel world, and she is a guest of his world. Without any decorated words, she can even be considered an ‘intruder’.

His attitude of antagonising the Goddess could now be understandable in her view.

But if that’s the case, the fact that ‘Raidou is a hyuman’, would be a contradiction in itself, is how Sari thought.

Or could it be that there’s hyumans in parallel worlds as well, and this world is under the protection of an existence like that of a Goddess?

If that’s the case, why is there no other hyuman in this world called Asora?

What about an existence that is related to that Goddess?

For a while since she is been here, Sari has been flooded by this thoughts that had no answers, and was unable to act.

“Anyways, becoming a friend of Raidou is the first priority. If I become a close friend of his…Raidou probably wouldn’t do ‘something as meager’ as turning his fangs towards the demon race…”

Raidou ‘always’ moves by his emotions.

That’s what Sari guesses.

That’s why, she will be by his side, and if she is able to change those emotions of his, she will be able to obtain safety.

She has been calmly looking at Raidou when she was outside, and that’s why, she reached this conclusion and acted in this way. It could be said that she got a good grasp on him.

…It can’t be considered a perfect analysis though.

In Sari’s view, it was a scary result.

If imprudently dealt, Raidou might not even care about the whole picture, and destroy a country and race just because of a reason like being asked by someone close to him.

If someone with a deep hatred towards the demon race becomes a close friend of his, or a lover, there’s a possibility of Raidou turning hostile towards the demon race.

Things like diplomacy, period, or economics; those kind of things would hold no weight.

If even Raidou turns into an enemy, added with the heroes and the Goddess, the demon race will be exterminated.

Sari was sure of this.

Looking at Asora, she thought exactly like this.

“Totally self-sufficient. Even though powerful races are mixed here, they have an army that works together splendidly well. They clearly possess crafts that surpass ours by several steps. A teleportation ability that not only makes it possible for them to attack any place without the need for a march, it can also be used for retreats. Added to that, there’s the abnormally high individual battle power of the close aides of Raidou.” (Sari)

If she had to put out a weakness of them, it would be their numbers.

Asora doesn’t have that much population.

For a fertile land, it has a low population to the point that it was strange.

Sari still didn’t know of the reason why.

But even the hyumans that are the strongest force in her world, would they really fight against them just because they are winning in numbers, when all of these disadvantages are lined up?

If her father the Demon Lord had accurate information of Raidou and Asora, what would he have done? She tried to imagine it.

“Even if it’s slightly disadvantageous, he would probably make an alliance. Fufufu, it doesn’t sound like it would be a talk to a company, but a talk between countries.” (Sari)

By the way, if Sari were the Lord, she would have wished to migrate into this Asora.

But that’s because she still hasn’t been in a position of responsibility within the race, and he is a rare type of hyuman that the demon race doesn’t hate.

As long as Raidou acknowledges it, it would be a great proposal that would lead to the least sacrifices, and would bring a peaceful future.

In a sense, it would be a proposal that would be ideal for the future of the race.

But…

“Without doubt, there will objections from the majority, moreover, there’s the danger of me being assassinated for it. The hatred for hyumans…and the will of the demon race. If this is the will of the demon race, his Majesty would oppose this proposition even if it is the path to destruction.” (Sari)

Sari had a sad expression in her face.

Thinking about her father, this is something that comes into her mind at times; just what kind of existence is an excelling Lord?

There’s probably several different types, but the Demon Lord Zef is the type of Lord that would make reality the demon race’s will.

For that sake, he would easily shelve his own will.

In that sense, the actions of Zef are incredibly simple.

Pass judgement to the hyumans, and prosperity to the demon race.

That’s all.

And those two come in a set.

It can’t be toppled.

Sari does think that having the demon race prosper and triumphing over the hyumans is one way of revenge, but most of the demons don’t think that way.

They want the blood of hyumans.

“If Raidou were to approve of the demon race’s objective of passing judgement to the hyumans, there would be a different path. Just that, the chances of it are way too low.” (Sari)

In the end, she couldn’t put anything in order.

It was at that moment…

“Sari, are you available now?”

“!! Yes, go ahead, Waka-sama.” (Sari)

Sari heard a voice there’s no way she would hear wrong.

By the way, the one who opened the door was the owner of the voice.

The lifelong master of Sari; the person who she bounded her own stigma with.

No one was accompanying him today.

Without knowing about her worries at all, Raidou naturally entered her room.

“You don’t look well. Are you okay?” (Raidou)

“I’m okay. I am just slightly in disorder because I am still not used to my surroundings. I am sorry for making you worry. Is there something you needed?” (Sari)

“I wanted to have Sari work a bit in something, you see.” (Makoto)

“Just say the word. Giving this much hospitality to a slave like me, there’s no need to be reserved.” (Sari)

These were the true feelings of Sari.

As a slave, Sari has received a better treatment than what she was prepared for.

They are not forcing her into any work, so right now, the treatment they are giving her is like that of a guest.

It was temporary, but she was still in an unbelievable situation.

“I see. Tomorrow morning, there’s a race I want you to meet. Meet them, and well, I want you to hear their requests and what they have to say.” (Makoto)

“I don’t mind but, is that a job that’s okay for me to be doing?” (Sari)

Even with this light explanation, it was clear that this had an atmosphere different from that of a miscellaneous job.

Because of that, Sari asks to confirm.

“Yeah. We are low in people, and Shiki did say that you seem to have past knowledge.” (Makoto)

“…Meaning that I can be useful, right? Understood. I am happy that you believe in me enough to give me work.” (Sari)

“Because you can’t betray us, right? With the ritual and all that.” (Makoto)

“Yes. I don’t have the intentions to betray you either, and I can’t betray you. Even so, you don’t have any suspicions that there may be some sort of loophole. I am truly lucky that the person I have decided as my master is an open-minded person.” (Sari)

“…Loophole huh. I didn’t even think about it. Because there’s no need to think about it, right?” (Makoto)

“Is that so?” (Sari)

“Yeah. Because if you do something like that, Sari would be my enemy, right? You must have some reason to work under me with the resolve to die, so something as careless as that, the intelligent Sari wouldn’t do that.” (Makoto)

“…”

“I am not good at thinking that much. Betrayers are enemies, contributors are allies. That’s how I think, and that’s all. I want to go simple.” (Makoto)

What a scary thing to say, is what Sari thought.

“For example; in the case that it looks like a betrayal when it was actually for the good of Waka-sama?” (Sari)

“If I notice that it is good, then an ally; if I don’t notice it, enemy. Simple, right?” (Makoto)

“…”

Raidou nonchalantly said this.

On the other hand, Sari was speechless.

She added into her data that he is someone with a thought pattern that’s scarier than she originally thought.

“Hm? What’s wrong?” (Makoto)

“Nothing. I will keep those words in mind.” (Sari)

“…I see. And so, about the race I want you to meet.” (Makoto)

“Yes?” (Sari)

“There’s a race that wants to migrate to this place you see, a race called Lorelei. It seems like they were originally from the demon race, but as they were living in the sea, it seems like they have become a different race and things changed. Have you heard about it?” (Makoto)

“…Lorelei?!” (Sari)

“Good, it looks like you know them.” (Makoto)

“I have heard that in a long past, there was a household of the demon race that was called Lorelei that had escaped into the sea and disappeared.” (Sari)

“Then it is probably them. Their outward appearance is similar to the demon race after all. It seems like they were in quite the cold sea, but because of a slight connection, there was talk about having them migrate here, you see.” (Makoto)

“Migrate?!” (Sari)

“And so, there’s going to be an interview. But there’s the need to arrange the information of the race and the requests the other side has beforehand, right? I am counting on you for that.” (Makoto)

“…This place accepts the migration of a race?” (Sari)

“Yeah, well, depends on the situation though. This time it is applications for people that live in the sea, it seems.” (Makoto)

“It seems? Wasn’t Waka-sama the one who ordered it?” (Sari)

“Ah, would that be the case? Asora is big after all. Even if everything moves as I order, there’s just no time. The people that want to live here can participate in an interview by all means, is how I feel. But in reality, there’s a lot going on, and it can’t go smoothly like that.” (Makoto)

“…Is that so.” (Sari)

“Sari, you can have a house made somewhere eventually. If you want to, after the migration of the Lorelei is decided, it should be fine to live with them. It seems like you were the same race in the past after all.” (Makoto)

Raidou continued making carefree statements.

But he is the king of this Asora.

“I-I see… Uhm! About the investigation, I will properly do it. Is it okay to begin starting tomorrow?” (Sari)

“Yeah, I am counting on you. I will place a Gorgon and an Orc to assist you, so go at it without pressure.” (Makoto)

(…Is it for surveillance? Or is it really out of goodwill? This plan is probably from someone else, so there’s that chance, and it makes it hard to tell.) (Sari)

“Sari?” (Makoto)

“Ah, sorry! Thank you for your kindness, Waka-sama.” (Sari)

“Well then, good night.” (Makoto)

“Good night.” (Sari)

Sari still doesn’t know Raidou’s real name.

She hasn’t been told.

Leaving aside Raidou himself, she is in a situation where her surroundings don’t trust her.

She doesn’t know that reality, but she does feel like she is being tested.

Even if she is ready or not, Sari thought that from now on, it was a critical moment for her.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

“Ah, Shiki. About the preliminary investigation, I have requested it from Sari just like you told me.” (Makoto)

“Thanks, Waka-sama. If we don’t make those kind of people work, it would be a bad example. You have been a big help.” (Shiki)

“I was being reserved because she was a girl after all. Because you told me, it served as a chance. The one that should be giving his thanks is me.” (Makoto)

“I am grateful to hear that.” (Shiki)

“By the way, what’s that?” (Makoto)

After returning from asking Sari to investigate the Lorelei, I met with Shiki and follow his gaze, and there, I saw Ema and the Al-Elemera.

Just that, the Al-Elemeras that are always flying around, are now on the floor.

What a rare sight.

Reflexively, I ask Shiki for an explanation of the situation.

“Ah, just like you see. The Al-Elemera are, how to say it, partly similar to Waka-sama.” (Shiki)

“Ehm…” (Makoto)

I couldn’t understand the meaning of Shiki’s words.

“Looking for a place to live in, they were strolling the forest, and in the very first day, they broke onto the den the wolves live in.” (Shiki)

“…Uwaaa” (Makoto)

All of a sudden they were at that place huh.

What an unlucky bunch.

Ah, they are indeed similar to me in that part.

“They were splendidly scattered and are now like this. Not everyone can cut through their bad luck like Waka-sama does after all. Well, it can be said that they are normal.” (Shiki)

“Now that I look properly, they are doing dogeza. Ah, Ema did say something like that. I see…the king and the important people are doing dogeza huh.” (Makoto)

“No, all the race is.” (Shiki)

“…Quite a big part was caught by the wolves huh.” (Makoto)

Their numbers are a lot less than when I saw them last time.

The wolves against them wouldn’t even amount to a fight.

“They have been scared witless and have run back here.” (Shiki)

The wolves of Asora are crazy strong.

No, it seems like the living beings of Asora in general are quite strong. The carnivorous beasts are especially strong within that group.

Currently, the wolves are in the strongest class.

If it turns into a serious fight with them, even Orcs and Lizardmen might be in danger.

They are like experts in forest and group fights.

…The first time I encountered them, I was truly relieved that I was sturdy.

Also, I was deeply moved when I was able to speak with the wolves.

Because of reasons, I am the only one that’s able to though.

Well, wolves are intelligent, so even without speaking, they are able to communicate with their actions.

They properly give warnings.

The problem is if the other side complies with those warnings.

And it seems like the Al-Elemera weren’t able to do that.

“…I wonder if Ema will forgive them.” (Makoto)

“Even if she does, the Al-Elemera will probably not be able to lift their heads to Ema anymore.” (Shiki)

“Now that you mention it Shiki, it wasn’t Al-Efemera.” (Makoto)

“My apologies. Remembering the names of something like flying insects, is pretty difficult huh.” (Shiki)

He easily admitted it.

He didn’t even try to smooth it over.

“Even though they are feisty, their impression is weak after all.” (Makoto)

“Seriously.” (Shiki)

“Ah, by the way, did you hear the talk about what they said of their forest?” (Makoto)

“If I remember correctly, it was done in by a purple cloud.” (Shiki)

“Do you know the details?” (Makoto)

“Yes. It is a big disaster, but it is a phenomenon that happens pretty often in the wastelands. Thick accumulated dark purple clouds bring about strong rain and it fills the land in poison.” (Shiki)

A cloud that rains down poison huh.

Sounds dangerous.

I am glad I didn’t encounter that when I was in the wasteland.

When he says thick and accumulated, does he refer to a form like that of a cumulonimbus cloud?

If that’s in purple color…it would have quite the intensity.

“That’s troublesome.” (Makoto)

“It is only possible to take refuge, so things like bases that have a set location would be completely wiped out. Just that…” (Shiki)

Shiki who was explaining, slightly hesitates in saying the next.

“Just that?” (Makoto)

I urge him to continue.

“I heard this from Tomoe-dono, but that purple cloud isn’t actually from the weather; it is actually a living being.” (Shiki)

“Living being? A cloud is?” (Makoto)

That’s hard to believe.

“She said they were a group of small gas living beings. Normally, they are not much of a threat, but when it surpasses a set number of them, they grow bigger in a breath and bring about disaster. As expected of someone that has lived a long time, she has quite the vast knowledge.” (Shiki)

“A gas living being. As I thought, it just doesn’t ring well.” (Makoto)

“But being a living being means it has life force, so in other words, I thought that it might be possible to kill them or scatter them.” (Shiki)

“I see. It is certainly true that if we kill the living, they will stop.” (Makoto)

“But well, they are special beings that move in group, so if they are a gas type where each one is as small as a grain, trying to kill them might not be realistic. It doesn’t have much relation to Asora in the first place, so I don’t think there’s much need to research it.” (Shiki)

“I want to see it at least once. How about you, Shiki?” (Makoto)

“To tell the truth…I am also interested. There’s a mountain of work to do, so right now I can’t move though.” (Shiki)

“Hm…in that case, how about asking Tomoe and Mio to bring a sample?” (Makoto)

“It seems like the two of them are busy as well, so…how about asking the Winged-kin? It seems like they haven’t heard of it, but maybe they will be able to bring new information of it.” (Shiki)

“As expected of Shiki. Yeah, let’s try that!” (Makoto)

If it has an interesting special characteristic, I might be able to use it in the lectures of the Academy.

In the case that it is hard to utilize, it would be biohazardous, so I will refrain from using it.

Even if there’s still a brief time before going to Limia, I still have to do the things I can do at Asora and the Academy.

“But I think that it will be impossible to utilize it in the lectures of the students.” (Shiki)

“…As expected of Shiki. Wait, since when did you learn to read minds?!” (Makoto)

“Guessing what my master thinks, is a basic skill of a butler; is what Morris-dono said, so I tried learning it.” (Shiki)

It is not ‘I tried learning it’.

That’s normally not possible.

“You are a diligent one, Shiki.” (Makoto)

“I am honored.” (Shiki)

‘Maybe I should just throw all the classes in the Academy to Shiki’, is what I slightly thought.

  1. Is nobody seriously gonna comment on the fact that tomoe can’t reincarnate after she dies due to her pact with makoto

  2. “even Orcs and Lizardmen might be in danger” so if lizardmen is equal to something like lesser dragon and their trait is a group fight what can those ”WOLF PACK” from Asora can do if they were loose into the bugdess world? lol

  3. Etto, just from where the wild animals like wolves and boars pop out? If i recall, doesn’t asora is empty the 1st time it get created? Have i miss or forget something? @@

    1. It was stated as soon as it was created there was live in there ot only plants there was also animals. Read the chapter where it was created I believe they explain in there.

  4. I really like these bee things, they are so funny.
They talk big about being direct descendent of spirit or whatever, claim that they can handle their own ass, then tattering come back.
Now they got beat up real hard and have to kneel down in front of their arc enemy, lol.

  5. Thanks for the translation! A little thing I noticed when I was skimming the raw, though, shouldn’t
“Could it be that Raidou is the king of a different world?”
    be
“To think that Raidou is the king od a different world” or something along that line?

  6. Thanks for the chapter. When I think of that cloud it reminds of the cloud in the movie “The Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer”. Which was called Galactus. Uh, no Galactus is coming Makoto.

  7. “A gas living being.” Caesar ? AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

Well, the awaited Blue-Skinned Loli POV leaves me a bitter taste, she has yet to understand MC’s position…

Talking about that, I wondered ; Actually, who is aware that MC-chan created this Asora ? Does that Pseudo Spy Lime knows it ?

Finally obtainning that kneeling begging, huh ? Then comes the testing of the Blue Loli ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH ! I’m liking that Dark secretary more and more !

“Betrayers are enemies, contributors are allies.” Simple is best ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !
MC-chan sure grows fast ! I remember when he used to travel with his mask, whining around…
But you still got a long way ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

    Thanks for your work !

    1. Do anyone still remember the summoning of Makoto with Shiki before the Hibiki’s rescue mission by the goddess?

During that time, it was briefly mentioned that someone noticed Makoto and Shiki’s resisting against the summoning…

What if… it is one of the new students that Makoto is gonna take up?

      Wouldn’t it be interesting?
Not that I know if it will ever happen or not (since i can’t read raw)…

      1. Hum, I think they said someone would have noticed if MC-chan had continued his resistance.

But, that would be interesting, that I concede you. However, they would most likely think about either a misunderstanding or that MC is a hero in disguise.
        Something along those lines…

What would be interesting is that this Perverted Snake has actually understood the Creation thing MC did.
Or that the students learn about Asora.
Though, the second option is nowhere near. AHAHAHAHAHAHAH !

    1. That shiver would have been more fitting for the students, Remember Shiki is only the “Good Cop” teacher because Makoto wanted the role of the “bad cop” hell Shiki migth teach then the theory of how to deal with a pack one week and the next trhow them in Asora forest to survive on the wild on their own!!!!!

      1. It can see it now…

“Alright, after Raidou-sensei’s…wilderness training- *everyone simultaneously flinches* -we should be able to move out to explore new areas and fight against new mamonos without issue!”
Two weeks later, in the final town of the wasteland…
“C-Congratulations. You’ve all ranked up to SSS rank adventurers…”
        “………THAT WAS SO EASY!”
        “IS THAT IT?!”

  8. remember when shiki become a follower, that time, the hyuman’s never thinked in paceful ways to deal with the situation, only those who have been near makoto and learned from him, lokking at him, know his ways of thinking and accept that (from my view’point that it’s the most difficult), would accept to live in peace. that’s what i think

    Thanks Reigo-sensei for the chapter

    1. Not all of them.

It will more than likely end with Makoto accepting some members of each species. Specifically those who show themselves worthy.

For races that do not have large numbers to begin with, it will be all of them, but for Hyumans and Demons, they’re going choose individuals on a case-by-case basis. Like with Lime.

Now that I think about it, isn’t Asora sort of like Noah’s ark? I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point that world gets destroyed (most likely by the bug, as a final act of defiance), and only those who were accepted into Asora will survive.

        1. Now that you mention it, I wonder how it will work with his new students.

I think the current ones are almost a given.

But I wonder how Makoto and Shiki will train the new ones, and if they’ll develop the same kind of devotion towards their teachers as the original students.

Especially if the Academy somehow forces him to take on the maximum that was mentioned.

Maybe the attittude of Jin, Amelia and the others will rub off on the new additions?

Or maybe Makoto will tone it down a bit.

          1. I dunno. Somehow, I think Makoto should actually intensify it.

On one hand, he’s training students that are stronger than some knights already. On the other, it would allow him to quickly filter out the undesirable students. The sempais of the class were originally part of a larger group that got trimmed down to 5, after all. first by his appearance, then by interest in the class, then by its difficulty.

I’m expecting something like the migration test, where Makoto filters out the applications with incompatible ideologies, then ones that aren’t capable enough, and then leaves the class itself to narrow it down further. The sort of training hell you’d expect in an anime. 😀

          2. According to their original plan, Makoto is bad cop, so he should probably do it.

His distorted scale of power is perfect for it anyway. Shiki is too realistic. 😛

          3. I just don’t think Makoto can pull off a Bad Cop. The best he can probably do is a Trying-Hard-To-Act-Bad-Cop.

Shiki as well would probably be closer to Indifferent Cop than a Good Cop. Because he jsut doesn’t give a damn about others.

I think Mio would be the best Bad Cop. That girl can really let out some poison. Both literally and figuratively. 🙂

          4. I mean, they were pretty successful the first time they did it. Amelia DID fall for Shiki because of it.

The difference this time is that Makoto can talk now, so it lacks that indifferent dignity he had before. Well, if that’s the case, the teachers could be good cop and the sempais can be bad cop.

          5. I’m actually imagining an interrogation performed by all four of them (Makoto and followers).

Tomoe disorients them with illusions. Making them see things. But she doesn’t keep them up for long. Then she tries to sooth them with her charms, and have them open up to her.

In between the illusions, there’s also Mio with her sharp tongue. Verbally abusing the suspect.

Now and then, while leisurely filing his fingernails, Shiki butts in with a “I could really go for some nabe right now.” / “That reminds me, I have a meeting with some local merchants.” / etc. All delivered in a monotonous tone.

Meanwhile, Makoto keeps doing tsukkomi to everyone else’s actions, while reminding them, in a weak voice, not to be too rough with the suspect.

Well, I’m not entirely sure about Makoto.

    2. They would, but that would be a really risky plan.
Firstly, will the demons accept running away from the war they started?
I really doubt they would, as Sari stated, some of the demons wouldn’t agree to it.
Secondly, the Bug might find out about Asora, if the entirety of the demon race disapears, or if makato destroys their cities/places were they where(Like how Tomoe brought the Orc village to Asora), the Bug might think Makato has helped her.
Of course it could be used to get close to her to kill her, but would that really be a good idea to do?

  9. Thanks for the chapter.
Sari is going to have to work hard to be accepted into the fold. And Shiki becomes butler like with every chapter huh? When is he going to go all the way and wear the outfit? Makoto should have named him Sebastian…….

    1. Lol Shiki already surpassed Sebastian in everyway if he wishes so,like seriously. His knowledge is at least comparable to century old tomoe and MiO,and he is ex-hyuman/researcher/magician…

  10. I think its amusing how all these “smart” people in the demon faction and the other factions for that matter set up these elaborate and complicated plans and end up just about check mating themselves in the process and as there plans fall apart around there ears Makoto and company come in and save the day. At the same time most have this superior attitude or are flummoxed because he is so “simple minded”. I believe that most of these people aren’t nearly half as clever as they think they are.

Honestly Makoto is probably one of the smarter and better adjusted people in the series he recognizes his own limitations and delegates tasks to his fanatically loyal followers that fit there temperament and ability. They are all more experienced then him by several centuries at least, why wouldn’t he take advantage of that kind of resource. It not like he doesn’t have his weaknesses. Like being a little to trusting of people in general and being to easily swayed by circumstance as he is swept up in whats going on leaving him to just react to things as they appear but considering the level of power he wields directly and indirectly I think he has more then some room to be magnanimous and he seems to be more proactive.

    1. Every ruler has a lot of troubles so I’m no going to criticize them but Makoto avoids taking more trouble than he can chew, unlike Hibiki he doesn’t believe himself to be a hero so he delegates and listen to others opinions.

  11. thanks for the chapter!

“I see. It is certainly true that if we kill the living, they will stop.” (Makoto)
he is saying that to a lich…

  12. Thank you for the chapter!

    1- Haha, good luck Sari! There is a good chance Makoto does NOT accept migration though;

2- Poor Antonio race! They had to almost reach extinction before learning!

  13. Thanks for the translation Rei-san. It’s good to read Sari’s POV. I hope she can get her place in Asora, I mean she’s still a little girl you know? I think she deserves a happy life.
And for the purple mist, is it the will be fourth servant?? Well, I’ve to wait to know it.

  14. If all the original wildlife of Asora is like those wolves and they are sentient too then they are like some guardian spirits of Asora 🙂
Makoto was the only one who could speak with them either thanks to his language comprehension or because they are related/connected to him. They were created together with Asora after all.

    Thanks for the chapters 🙂

    1. Eh, the sentience/sapience thing is kinda murky in real world already, there are birds that use, and even make, tools, wolves train their young to hunt (instead of relying on instincts), orca’s are known to have invented new hunting techniques (and then tought them to others), apes go to war and have a concept of currency and crows are known to pass down knowledge between generations and can recognice individual humans who have caused them trouble in the past (and make sure their kids know that as well).

Humans may be very bright animals, but the divide is lot smaller than many would suspect.

      1. Or care to admit. After all, the only reason some people are okay killing and eating animals is because they’re “lesser” beings. Look at the reactions of people when you suggest eating a dog or a cat, and those are just “pets”and not close to being “equals” to us.

  15. Thanks for the chapter Kai- kun. Sari didn’t know what she was getting into. It looks like The Al-elemera are treating Ema as the Queen of Asora. Not far from the truth actually.

  16. I feel like after reading this chapter, I understand how this Makoto can turn out different than Makoto who sides with the demon. Having Shiki there to help him really means a lot to Makoto. He’s helping with his work, character and even better, his magic for Creation.

Shiki is the real mvp here tbh desu

  17. ‘If it has an interesting special characteristic, I might be able to use it in the lectures of the Academy.’

Makoto’s lessons are probably the most interesting ones in the Academy. We’ve only really seen the combat training, but I bet he and Shiki always have some interesting facts and stories to share with the class.

Can’t wait for a field trip through the most dangerous areas of that world.

    1. Makoto: Alright class, for today, we’re going to undergo environmental training. *draws teleportation circle*

Students: What? How? *steps into the circle*
Sempai Division: …. *hesitate outside the circle longer than anyone else*
Makoto: First stop is a volcano! Take care not to breath in any ash or it’ll damage your lungs. 😀

Followed by the mysterious(Northern) icy tundras. And then a vast white desert of unknown origin. And then a floating archipelago of small islands at extremely high altitudes!

It’ll be fine! Although Shiki can’t actually bring the dead back to life, he doesn’t really define “dead” the same way we do anyway. :3

  18. Thanks for the chapter!

The conversation with Sari was interesting, altough Makoto’s dealings with Sari and the Demon race keeps on getting me more and more disappointed in the MCs character development. His “You are smart but weak, I am dumb but strong” approach to politics and interpersonal relationship shows an outright refusal to grow up as a person, as a merchant, and as a leader. It’s even more disapointing when one thinks about the fact that Makoto is starting to mirror the bug godess way of doing things, “strategy and tactics are useless, just crush things you dislike with godly power”, while he himself hates that way of thinking.

I hope that Makoto will find a parent figure or teacher figure soon, someone who is willing to make Makoto think about things harder and improve himself, instead of just pampering him and doing the thinking in his stead like his close aides and Asora’s residents have been doing so far.

      1. The head is certainly giving him pointers, but their relation is limited to a merchant and a force of nature at best. He clearly doesn’t even think of Makoto as a merchant. What I’m hoping to see is someone who helps shape up Makoto’s personality. Right now, the closest thing to that would be Shiki, altough he feels more like a caretacker for a naïve overpowered child than a friend/sibling or tutor.
Honestly, all of Makoto’s close aides treat him like a cute child at best, and are so overprotective towards him that it’s actually killing any chance of character developement. Having reliable followers is a blessing, but in Makoto’s case, they are so damn good and he is so dependent on their presence that it’s starting to bite him in the bottom.

        1. I don’t think that’s the case. Fortunately, it seems that he’s not the type to go rotten from spoiling. About the Merchant head, he sees him as someone with mediocre talent but vast resources. Now about the personality. He’ 18/19. Its already too late for something like that. His core personality is already splendidly shaped.

    1. You’re misunderstanding something here.

That kind of mentality is just other people’s impression of Makoto’s personality, but that’s all just misconceptions because they don’t have a good grasp on Makoto’s personality and come to false conclusions on their own.

You should know that Makoto doesn’t flaunt his strength and try his best to hide it. The only time he flaunted his strength was during the variant incident, but that was to promote his company (which was at risk of being destroyed because of the other merchants’ meddle) and he still lowered himself to those that have a higher standing than himself.

When Makoto deals with authorities, he humbles himself and tries his best to follow their rules. Even during the demon country’s visit.

The reason Makoto used his power was because they requested it from him. He never intended to use his power to gain an advantage in negotiations and the last part with Root was because he didn’t want the demons to be destroyed.

Kaleneon was the only time when he acted unreasonably, but that was because of his anger at Rona, the goddess and everyone that was trying to take advantage of him before. Since Rona broke their deal using a loophole, he retaliated. He reached his limit back then, but Makoto going around crushing everyone he dislikes is a false statement.

Sofia and Lancer was outright antagonistic towards him and he saw them as a threat against Asora, so he decided to kill them.

Trashmoki was a threat against Tomoe, so he set him straight.

The only times he is set out to kill you is if he determines you as a threat against Asora and his followers. Since Sari knows about Asora, she is the biggest threat if she betrays him.

      1. “I hope that Makoto will find a parent figure or teacher figure soon, someone who is willing to make Makoto think about things harder and improve himself, instead of just
pampering him and doing the thinking in his stead like his
close aides and Asora’s residents have been doing so far.”

        @disappointedsheep

It’s seems like you don’t understand Makoto at all.

The whole Rotsgard arc was used as a learning period in order for Makoto to grow. The variant incident was the time when Makoto started to think about how his actions affected the company and what actions to take in order to gain more benefits.

Makoto being pampered? Makoto doesn’t even like how his followers worship him and try to stay away from Asora as much as he can.

Seriously, you’re making it sound like Makoto is some spoiled brat that has been living a good life without any hardships.

      2. I might not have expressed my opinion correctly since you seem to have misunderstood my problem with Makoto’s character developement.

The issue I was pointing out is not with him willingly using power, but with him refusing to think for himself at any moment. He genuinely leaves any matters that need thinking to his close aides. I understand that he is bad with scheming, but that does not mean that he can simply stop thinking for himself all together.

If we look at everything Makoto did since his meeting with the gods, Makoto’s modus operandi has been “I’ll just do what Shiki, Tomoe and Mio will tell me to do”. Furthermore, since the time Makoto got played by Rona, his whole approach to negociation have become “You leave my people alone or I crush you”, that’s fine and dandy, until you understand that by doing so, he’s litteraly working against his self proclaimed “merchant” ideals.

Sari’s situation is just one of many mistakes that Makoto makes due to him being “afraid” of being played by others. Let’s think about it for a second. Makoto knows that Sari is stuck in Asora, under constant watch by his allies, and has no way of leaving it without his express permission. Even if Makoto takes into account the possibility of a loophole for her to try and betray him, there is simply no possible way to do so. More importantly, she used to be a demon king candidate, which must say a lot about her management abilities, her decision making, her intelligence gathering skills and the fact that she possesses a ton of useful information about the world, the godess as well as the demon’s territory. It doesn’t take a genius to understand how much of a boon she could be for the developement of Asora, the company as well as Kaleneon. But what does Makoto do? Instead of planing to test her efficiency, her loyalty and making use of her in a safe way, he leaves her as a useless slave/guest until Shiki does the thinking for him and decides to give her a trial and start making use of her. That moment when he said that “You are smarter than me, so you should know better than to betray me” felt less as a threat for me, and more like him “giving up” on ever becoming smart. He KNOWS that he is a terrible excuse for a merchant and leader, yet instead of learning from his overqualified followers, he just lets them do things for him, and instead of learning how to negociate, he simply refuses to do so ( because let’s be honest, Makoto has yet to ever perform a single successfull negociation, his status as merchant was purely solidified by using martial might and Shiki’s abilities, his “country” has been managed without any real proactive decision making from his side, and his attack against a sovereign nation was simply the result of a childish fit after falling for an obvious loophole, and the repercussion of that “betrayal” were clearly things that he and the “offending” party knew didn’t even represent any real danger to his followers and assets). His lack of any intellectual achievement is why I honestly believe that Makoto NEEDS someone to teach him how to act as someone of his social position, because right now, his only real characteristics are that he is an empire destroying weapon with the personality of a twelve years old child in the body of an ugly hyuman. Take his huge pool of mana out, and I’m pretty sure none of his followers would even look at him.

        1. What has been bothering you about Makoto is something that doesn’t even makes part of his character, he is not a king, barely learning to be a merchant, and in his developing age, so no he is not ready to do any of those things, and leans on his subordinates to do what he can’t. The Sari situation is even stated from the point of view of Shiva that as a lord he sould have let her kill heself when he didn’t want her to force the slave contract to him, thats the reason why he didn’t even pretend to find something useful for her to do, cause he never intended her to be there. For him she was a burden or self imposed obligation. And remember that Shen wanted to follow Makoto not for the power that he was displaying but more from what she saw in his memories and the way of life that he had. The reason his subordinates take on all those rolls for him is beacause they know that he dosn’t want to be any of those things (well exept the merchant thing) but since he is stuck with the job they do their best at paving the path for him.

  19. Thanks for the chapter. Shiki is now a butler, mio is the maid and tomoe is a samurai. The poison cloud, I quess will become part of asora or be the new slave? =)

    1. While Shiki might call himself a butler (and would no doubt be capable for the job), his role is more like a valet.
Ema has lot stronger claim for butler due to her role in running Makoto’s household and servants.

    1. That was the feeling I was getting from him back in the demon lord region……but from his PoV, it doesn’t seem like that……anyway, I don’t think his followers are gonna betray him since he’s in a ruling contract with them.

  20. I really think she’s acute lil plotter. and honestly woudl be good for him to talk with, once she gets over the manipulation point and properly settles in.

  21. Thanks for the chapter, I can totally Picture Makoto saying, traitors are enemys with a smile face but a crazy high treatening aura, Saki is going to have nigthmares remembering that sigth.

  22. Tnx for the chap😘

Wow Im about 10 or so chapter away from Reigo translation in the raw but I thougt that “purple clouds” were GoogleTranlator mistake….those were real?!!?Shok!!!😱😱😱

Also like Truk-san and Spoiler-san said, its no good for those like me that already know about what are going to happen to say such SPOILERS…if u cant control yourself at least give some hints without saing clearly anything…leave it to readers immagination…at least do that in Reigo-kami respect!!!!

  23. I really like Makoto’s way of thinking simple is best after all its just scary if you have a power of God class level tho
    Thanks for the chap ~

  24. It has been in my mind, is this novel complete or still ongoing in the raw?
i tried to look the raw web but that just made me confused. Please help
    Thank you rei!!

  25. “If I notice that it is good, then an ally; if I don’t notice it, enemy. Simple, right?

    Makoto Absolutely Barbaric!

  26. I don’t know why, but when I read Sari POV I feel like I want to recommend her a novel called “Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu”.

    1. “If I notice that it is good, then an ally; if I don’t notice it, enemy. Simple, right?”
Nanoha, go home ! This is not your story.

I think since the “accident” in rostgard by Rona, he just snapped, in a good way.

  27. Ha ha ha Wolves-samas are that High in the Food Chain huh, well a god’s world and its inhabitants reflect the god themselves right. Also isn’t it about time we get to see Inumimis. If Mio = Maid/Cook, Shiki= Butler, Ema = Secretary, then Tomoe = ?(brothe…..eto…Imouto-Anee hybrid?), ??? = ?, and Makoto = Waka.

    1. Tsukoyomi = Aniki, Susanoo = Onii(?), Root = Hentai Stalker, Shiva = Sensei(?), Bug= School B***h, add other characters in the mix and we get a School Comedy Anime.

    1. even tho Makoto will say he rather be a good naber to them tho he did esept of being the ruler “to some extent” and watch over them.

  28. “For example; in the case that it looks like a betrayal when it was actually for the good of Waka-sama?” (Sari)

“If I notice that it is good, then an ally; if I don’t notice it, enemy. Simple, right?” (Makoto)

    “…”

now that is the thing i wanted to hear from a MC…I mean in every other novel, some other character tries to do something good for the mc by doing bad to him/her first and the mc later forgives her/him…BUT “If I notice that it is good, then an ally; if I don’t notice it, enemy. Simple”…hehe

  29. So basically, Wolves are as strong as Lizard Men…… Lizard Men are stronger than Lesser Dragons….. Wolves are stronger than Lesser Dragons……

Common Sense is not going to like this at all.

          1. Also more realistic. The sempais aren’t even fighting the mist lizards at 10% yet, but wolves apparently rival their power.

Goats are aggressive enough, fairly strong individually(I assume an Asoran Ram could send an armored carriage flying? ), but stand to be the weaker of the bunch.

….Also the idea of collecting goats to apply for class is funny.

    1. That’s right. He was paranoid at first, and for good reasons. Even if the goddess is a bug, she’s still powerful.

Then he got to meet her again, and found her lacking. Plus, he now has no fewer than 3 gods watching his back. Who wouldn’t be just a little braver with that kind of backup. 🙂

Simple, right?”

    I LOVE this part
i’m liking Makoto more and more

    butler shiki
    it suits him

        1. I mean, Makoto could technically make Tomoe do anything within her power.

But what I mean is that she probably won’t be happy with an order to change her clothing(unless it’s stripping for him I guess?). I imagine making her wear a butler’s uniform would make her especially grumpy, and who would want a sour-faced butler?

          ….Nevermind.

    1. So those thoughts that Sari had, she is gonna have to reconsider them or wanting to put them in action. Simply, tell Mokoto what she intends to do and wait for his decision. That’s the best for her as far as I can see.

      1. The only things I can tell that she’s planning is to be useful to Makoto and remain in his good graces so that he doesn’t attack the demons. I don’t see any reason to be so suspicious of her that we constantly assume she has some ulterior motive. This relationship is what every mideval country did to keep close relations. If Makoto takes that as a betrayal, then he was never cut out for politics, and will never be capable. Besides, don’t you think that Shiki and Tomoe have already considered all of this? If they hadn’t told Makoto that she’s a threat and/or disposed of her themselves, then there’s no reason to be so suspicious.

        1. That’s the general impression I had of her as well.

Much like how Makoto’s Magic Power Armor was made because he sucks at counterintelligence and went for a method that was obvious but difficult to replicate, Sari’s motive is transparent but gives no reason to refuse.

Technically there’s no reason to accept it either, but that was the gambit Sari made when she tried to kill herself (which she won because Makoto is a softie).

  31. Reigo-senpai, thanks for the chapter.

Spoiler-san may still be away due to that illness I still have, but be careful with the spoilers guys! Seriously, even Spoiler-san kept the next follower’s identity a secret.

  32. It’s only me, or in the firsts lines of Sari, she treat Zef like a father, but she did not know that he is her real father.
By the way, thanks a lot Reigo-sama.

    1. ehh if i was to gess i say she thinking along the lines of “if i had a father i wish he was like the demon lord’ witch it ironic.

        1. I’m saving miko outfits for Tomoe though. It’s at least possible to get her to wear one under the pretense that she’s (funnily enough) doing the Susanoo bit of pretending to be a sacrifice to slay a monster.

It would be impossible to get her to wear anything non-samurai otherwise.

      1. “shrug” basically if they want to they can dress any way they want tho i can see are op MC might bring “or a surten dragon, spider, litch” some of his home world’s holidays to Asora like Christmas, Halloween, and i defiantly see mio bringing valentines day and thanksgiving for reasons we all know to asora.

  33. Thx as always

To think the wolves are intelligent and able to communicate with raidou (thx to his all language skill?) and as strong maybe even stronger than orc and lizardman?

  34. The dark side of the Force is strong in Makoto. Seriously through his thought pattern is really extreme in terms of seeing things in black and white.

  35. Wow. Poor Al-Elemera have Makoto-esque bad luck huh? Running into the strongest Asora Natives on day 1. I kinda feel bad for the little things now. Dread Secretary Ema certainly put them in their place. No well, technically it was the wolves that did.

….Is anyone else imagining Makoto standing around while a pack of wolves knaw on him now? A leisure negotiation that went something like a cross between meeting the demons and Grount.

Pfft. So I guess it never dawned on Makoto that the reason he never ran into the poison clouds was because of his Demon Lord Posse aura? Living things naturally try to stay alive, after all.

    1. i hope the wolves become special K9 squad for asora in the Mist town zone for protection and also for searching if there’s an individual that try to steal something in there again

  36. Makoto doesn’t even need to send asora residents to crush people, he could send the wildlife.
A poisonous cloud made up of small living beings, that sounds like a annoying opponent to kill if you weren’t op.
I want to laugh at the fairies current state, but i kinda pity them since it seems that it was a one-sided slaughter.

      1. Ooo! Actually I think it’d be a cool idea if they submitted to Ema and became a sort of a private force for her to use.

With some training, they could become an epic combat swarm all coordinated by the super secretary herself.

      2. They lived in the wasteland so they should already be stronger than an average hyuman. They are only weak compared to the others living in Asora. It was said when they first appeared that they can control low/mid ranked spirits.

I think they would be more useful in helping with farming then in combat.

    1. from the conversation on the chapter, the cloud is something like: each drop of water that make the cloud is one being, and the cloud as a whole is a city, when the city is full they exile(rain) the criminals(poison).

  37. Well there you go people. The Sari POV everyone’s wanted so badly. Like I said before, it’s pretty much what you’d expect, so I’m personally more interested in new additions to Makoto’s class. Still, it’s a refreshing calm with new perspectives.

So the demon race actually hardcore hate the hyumans(except Raidou, “one of the good ones” XD). I know that’s common sense, but I didn’t think they’d choose being wiped out over reconciling with them, which is the impression Sari gives me.

Am I the only one that sorta went “d’aww” at Makoto simplistic “you’re smart and I’m simple, so I can trust you won’t betray me” announcement? I mean, he then followed up with words that become scarier under the context than dealing with a yandere, but it was a kind statement.

Ooo…Lorelei? Those are siren-like existence right? Nice! Maybe we’ll start developing Asora’s musical culture now too!

    1. There are a lot of sayings about hatred can destroy a person and I just realized how true that could be in this series. If the demon lord follows the will of the demon race and the will of the demon race is to destroy hyumans(as a whole). They’ll eventually end up making an enemy out of makoto. He has some hyumans he’s fond of (not in a romantic way of course) and I doubt he’ll let them die. I know he could bring them to asora, but would they abandon their friends, family, and home?

    2. The thing about Zef, sometimes a ruler needs to take actions that are against the people’s will, especially if they’re the best interest for the people. Revenge is possible, but that path can only be paid in blood. How much will the demons need to bleed to accomplish their goals? 1/3? 1/2? 2/3? Even 1/3 of their population is a lot, and I doubt that it’s going to be that few when it’s all said and done.

      1. You may be right but sometimes knowing you’re in the wrong isn’t a reason to stop.

They went through so much hardship, they can’t be satisfied as easily as just finding a comfortable place to live in.

No matter what they claim, their first goal is to take revenge on that Bug and her so loved hyumans. Should that bring their own destruction, they would still do it !

And about that Demon Lord, he’s well aware of that and he’ll follow the will of his race, with no concern for himself or his relatives (as seen with Sari).
That’s what makes him such a pitifully huge Baka ! But at the same time, a respectable Lord.

        1. I’m not sure how much I agree with this.

Choosing a wrong path despite knowing it is one thing. Knowingly choosing a path that could most likely lead to the death of your people is probably as against the job description as you can get.

It comes down to the will of the people vs the well being of the people at this point. Which one should a leader prioritize? ….Man, poor Zef. He’s really got it hard.

  38. Makoto’s “simplicity” attitude probably sounded way more horrifying than he intended it, but I guess he doesn’t understand how scary it sounds coming from someone with his power capacity. All he wanted to say was probably “no funny business and we are k”.

Thanks for the chapter. Was waiting for Sari’s confusion and it turns out Asora’s wildlife is an army of its own.

    1. A force that has friendly relations with Raidou alone. So what happens if he releases his wolves in a war, maybe when the pack grows to a level where they want to branch into more packs?

    2. I mean, what he said was basically “If you harm me, you’ll be an enemy (to be obliterated). If you help me, you’ll be an ally (given unfairly powerful support). If you help me but seem like you hurt me, you’ll be considered an enemy because I’m bad at making those judgements.”
      Quite an unnerving thought.

      1. yep, bad wording creates misunderstanding, being simple doesn’t mean being clear. Makoto still have a lot to learn on how to properly convey his thoughts.

  39. See Makoto simple-minded. You mind your business, he minds his. You help him, he’ll help you. You try to kill him, you get obliterated or at least are forced to repent for your actions.

  40. Soon Sari will learn the true horror of the entity known as ‘Raidou’, Muhahahahhahaha. Once she realizes how much power he has, and yet is a no-balls good for nothing, she’ll moan in despair while in an ‘orz’ position. Hahahahaha! Glorious!

    Thanks for the chapter.

    1. “no-balls good for nothing” ???

      > Crushed Sofia with pretty much no effort
      > Slapped around Tomoki for being a little shit
      >Made a superior dragon experience a living nightmare

The old Makoto has been gone for quite a while bub, the grown up on one hasn’t been taking any crap from anyone for a while now, he just knows that aside from his god like powers, he has a lot to learn in other aspects and doesn’t let the power blind him (like some other idiots).

      1. Yes he dont have the balls to make a mover on a girl in the current or past world … Some day he will lose Tomoe for that narrow and simple mine… Also thank you for the chapther

        1. I really don’t get why this is such a big problem for so many people.

He didn’t want to date his kohai or captain back on Earth. He didn’t think of him that way. That’s it. Do you really have to take any interested girl when you’re single? Is it fair to call hime ball-less, spineless, a wimp or whatever just because he doesn’t try to get laid when he’s given the opportunity?

He already stated that he doesn’t see his followers that way and hasn’t noticed anyone else outside that due to inexperience and a busy lifestyle. He doesn’t need to constantly reaffirm this when nothing has changed.

His third dream might’ve stimulated the idea of being with Tomoe and Mio, true. But it also could’ve discouraged it because in that timeline…well, the girls fucking died and broke his heart. Just give it time to run its natural course. Short of death to the quickly shortening list of absurdly strong individuals, the main follower girls would never leave his side.

      2. >Makes gods notice him(includes bug in an annoying way) and watch him.

        >Make everyone realize that “perfect hit” is awesome? Or made them know the real meaning of “a devil in hyuman skin”?

      3. Didn’t say he didn’t have courage to fight, or ability to confront villains, or even that he doesn’t understand some of the aspects of his power. In earlier chapters he acknowledged (to himself at least) that he was getting on the edge due to his hormones acting up, even to the point he tried going to a brothel. Since then he still hasn’t had any relief in that way, but his stress still builds, yet he hasn’t taken ANY action on that front. Nevermind the yandere spider or the weeaboo dragon girls who blocked him before. Dude has a free pass to a brothel, and the head pro has indicated she’d give him extra service. If that wasn’t enough, he has a whole community of women (Gorgons), that he introduced to said brothel, that are willing and feel grateful to him that aren’t as close to him as sisters. Yet still he goes around like a monk. Not sayin he should be like Tomoki (I’d rather he cut his own throat first), just not existing at the other extreme either.

    2. Please dont attach Makoto to some loli type in which he evades the most. I like Makoto who prefer onee-san type “go raise those flags!”

    1. It’s like you received a goldfish that ready to be fried and put it into expensive aquarium filled with Piranhas and Arwanas. That what I take from Sari position for Makoto.

    1. Even if she grasp it, it won’t do her any good. The migrating race still needs to be filter through Tomoe, Shiki, Mio, (and probably Ema) before it reaches Makoto.

      1. Yeah cause what she did, citizen in asora seen a bad impression of the demon race now and maybe their line in the migration are on the end of the list now

        1. It looks like even if Makoto and the others wanted the demons, the demons wouldn’t be interested. They want revenge too much to just leave their world.

          1. Sakamaki actually figured it out first. I hadn’t paid any attention to it till just now. I thought it’d be funny to write it out in simple algebra (mostly because I can’t think of more challenging formulas at the moment). 😈

          2. Yeah, but I’ve recently been reminded of the importance of due credit. I’m retaking Eng. 101 in school, again. I hate writing short argumentative essays. Why can’t they just let us write short stories and turn those in

      1. AHAHAHAHAHAHAH ! Hold on tight, guys ! That’s an easy one !
Here’s a little hint : Where would you usually find these numbers together ?

  41. Thanks for the chapter! Not sure how I feel about Sari — mostly pity, I guess? She is a bit unsavory, but… She really didn’t understand what she was getting into… 😓

    1. Don’t worry in the later arcs she won’t be that prominent (well she will still show up quite a lot more when compared to other characters but from what I know she will have an Emma type of role).

      1. With rembrant or againt rembrant?

If its with wouldnt it be bad for him? Well… unless makoto scored on the two daughter of his and got pregnant, that i understand lols

      2. So there’s a shrine maiden in Makoto’s future, eh? Do we know the race yet? I would assume that she isn’t something simple like a hyuman. This was quite the interesting spoiler so I thank you.

      3. how should i say it,
i am glad that demon girl didn’t be a main character ,
because if she does, this series will be like other thing, meh

      4. I’m late. 😑

I once worked as a translator, about 5 years ago. I did several translation for an academic book and some medical documents while in previous job. I have the qualifications for it too.

So, I honestly don’t know what Reigokai thought about these spoilers or the people who spoil them, but from my experience as translator I don’t feel any discomfort for it. Not anger. DEFENITLY NOT ANGRY at mere spoilers. I can say that Reigokai must have think like that too.

However, as a READER, it comes with mixed feelings. Translations at times are unable to clearly convey the correct feel/meaning as the original text due to difference in language and culture (hence the ‘lost in translation’). For this fact alone, a spoiler might serve as positive reference for future readings. It helps connect non-native readers with the author’s intention.

On the contrary, it also heavily lessen (or as I like to say) ‘dilutes’ the interest and hype for future readings of the original script. Much like watching a movie. If excessive, it can potentially damage this novel’s reputation or popularity. The long term effect would be the decline of readers which will kill any chance of it becoming an animation. So guys & girls, PLEASE TONE DOWN spoilers to reasonable level. I wan’t it to become an anime! 😣

I understand that in other country, especially China, the translation speed is faster than Reigokai’s already-awesomely-quick translations and that the volume of text translated on said country is higher than the chances of me finding a girlfriend. There is already no way to stop spoilers because of these. So at least, for those who had the chance to read it past current Reigokai’s pace, please friends, with respect and seriousness, post spoilers MODERATELY. That’s all.

And welcome to the comment section. Everyone welcomed here.

        Except for spammers.
        Yeah.

    1. I hope she got the inspiration to give her all to Mokoto and forget about the demon race if she wants the demon race to not be a enemy of Mokoto. If she sells information, both she and her race would have to wave and say “Good bye 👋 “

      1. I get the feeling that even if she wants to betray Makoto, she couldn’t. That stigma is something that enforces loyalty from the slave to the master, instead of inspiring loyalty the way the contracts Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki made.

        1. But is it the contract that inspires their feelings of loyalty? I don’t recall it having that kind of effect, though it’s been a while, so I most likely just forgot about that part.

IIRC, the 80/20 contract means he can order them to do anything, and they’ll be compelled to do it, even against their will, but they would still keep their own will intact. Sort of like Command Seals in Fate series.

Which is important distinction from a 90/10 contract, which would turn them into mindless slaves.

Of course, Makoto has never used that feature of the contract. He’s not Tomoki, after all.

Shen/Tomoe follows Makoto (at least initially) because she was bored and he’s the most interesting thing she ever encountered. Every day is fun for her, especially compared to the time she spent idling away in the wastelands.

Mio simply finds him the most delicious thing she ever put in her mouth (this is from Mio’s PoV chapter), and he’s the first who was able to stuff her until she was completely satisfied, and still have more to give. 😉

Makoto literary found his way into Mio’s heart through her stomach.

Shiki admires Makoto as a Human, the base of Hyumans. Shiki became a Lich because he wanted to learn how to became an “evolved” form of Hyumans, who could travel between worlds, but he knew that it would take much longer than a Hyuman’s lifetime.

When he sensed Makoto’s power, and was given back life during the contract, as well as Makoto being the “ultimate” form of Hyumans, Shiki was so overwhelmed that he pretty much swore eternal devotion to Makoto (this is from Shiki’s PoV chapter).

In other words, Makoto was very lucky to encounter the followers he did.

          1. One could argue that the reverse is equally true. All of his followers are very grateful to have met Makoto.

I haven’t gotten around to reading the Shiki POV chapter, but that’s an interesting though. Shiki desperately wanted to go to a different world for some reason, and something about Makoto and his followers’ strength absolutely enthralled him it seems.

Well, I’m glad that they have a strong bond with a mutually vital importance to each other. It’s very clearly shown that it’s the only thing keeping Makoto human.

          2. Your right. Whoops. Wonder why I thought that. Maybe it was because a lot of people were giving Tomoe shit for not seeming as loyal to Makoto. Of course, someone also thinks that Shiki is untrustworthy as well. If we could read the most up-to-date extra chapters, these kind of things wouldn’t be up for debate.

One more thing (spoken like Uncle), it’s a good thing I’m already a permanent resident of the gutter, otherwise you’d have sent me right back into them.

          3. Those people probably expected Tomoe to just sit there quietly waiting for Makoto to give her orders. So when we saw her acting on her own accord, that probably ruffled some feathers. 🙂 Apparently, showing imitative is a bad thing nowadays.

I honestly don’t know where those people are coming from, since the last time I suspected Tomoe might not be entirely trustworthy was before she and Mio destroyed that frontier town.

Also, what is this world outside the gutter that you are talking about? Next thing, you’ll tell me there is this thing called a sky, and that the world is more than a series of sewage tunnels.

          4. Actually, the last time I doubted Tomoe was more recent than that. It was after the encounter with Root, where we learned that Superior Dragons can have children with humans.

Mio seemed to have noticed something off with her too, since she promptly made a warning that she wouldn’t stand by if Tomoe planned to do anything harmful to their master.

Do you ever wonder where all this sewage comes from?

      2. i think Sari might be over thinking it. yes he did say the one’s who betray him are enemy’s but he didn’t say he’ll destroy them and all of this “trying to lurn in a indirect way” is not needed all she need’s to do is ask for she basically in a prison so any thing she lurn will not get out so there is no harm of her discovering some of there secrets.

        1. That’s part of what’s funny. These people are trying to make Makoto fit in their worldview. The reality is that he’s an extremely powerful and dangerous being. Their world view says that someone like that will destroy those that anger them without a second thought, when actually he’d never immediately move to that option. You’d only be able to make him do that if you something inconceivably bad to his followers, i.e. Sophia, who planned to consume Tomoe. Of course, the demons don’t know this, so they are too frightened to risk it. As opposed to Gritonia who are likely thinking of trying again and again until they beat Makoto (at which point he’ll get fed up and actually will destroy something to send a message), and Hibiki who, while realizing that she only has one shot at taking him down (not that it’ll do any good), is still planning to provoke him.

          1. Well, Makoto didn’t really do himself any favors during the encounter at Limia. Due to his agreement with the Bug, he uncompromisingly crushed the demon’s plans and singlehandedly dealt them a massive loss in manpower and land.

After an encounter like that, it’s only natural to assume he would act on any whims he had using a power that no individual should ever be allowed to have.

I actually kinda feel like Makoto should’ve compensated them a little for what he did back then as a way to show he’s reasonable. Maybe he could give Io a custom ranger costume? Or give them some info on Tomoki. Or punch a hole in the sky so they can receive some sun for a while.
Hell, how about he warps out a large chunk of Asora’s fertile land for them? Put it somewhere off the coast as a paradise island.

I can understand why he didn’t(or rather, couldn’t) apologize, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a fundamental reason why they don’t trust him not to annihilate them.

    1. — “I am not good at thinking that much. Betrayers are enemies, contributors are allies. That’s how I think, and that’s all. I want to go simple.” (Makoto) —
What a scary thing to say, is what Sari thought., yup simple is the best and terrifying…
      @.@…

      — “I heard this from Tomoe-dono, but that purple cloud isn’t actually from the weather; it is actually a living being.” (Shiki) —
      Waifu number 4?
      @.@…
      Oops, seems not…

      — “Guessing what my master thinks, is a basic skill of a butler; is what Morris-dono said, so I tried learning it.” (Shiki) —
      Shiki the Lich Butler!
      Interesting…
      XD…

      1. Rather think say “Shiki the butter” cause he’s poker face are easily seen and sweet and like mayonaisse too lolx
