Chapter 148: Sudden Turn

(This is unbelievable)

The person that manages the rituals of Lorel and possesses strong political weight as well, in other words, the person Makoto considers a ‘big-shot’, Sairitz.

Learning about the light that illuminated the night sky for an instant, she could feel cold sweat flowing on her cheek.

The calamity that swallowed even the neighboring towns. Because of one of the incidents in it, the thought transmission jamming, Sairitz was 90% sure that all of this was caused by the demon race.

The demon race that has advanced their knowledge in magic a lot more than the hyumans. If it’s something they set, it would be quite difficult to resolve the issue at an early stage.

No, she thought that way.

(So this is the result of his ‘I will try’. I will abide to my promise of keeping it secret. Just because of a mere verbal promise, the situation was solved so easily. With an existence so out of norm like Raidou, as expected, he is without a doubt a Wise. And on top of that, one that has quite a lot of power compared to his antecessors. It would be troublesome to have Limia and Gritonia know, but there’s finally the need to take him in) (Sairitz)

Conciliate with the person, take that person in, and enclose it; Sairitz possesses several methods to achieve that.

There’s appealing methods, fear and pain inducing methods; truly varied.

But Sairitz decided to not use the negative methods for now.

Because she learned about the dangers of doing so.

(If possible, I would want to use his emotions to bind him. Because if we try to force him to do as we want, our country might get crushed into pieces. Inviting him, tempt him into interest, and bringing him to Lorel is the number one priority. Have him learn of the Wises’ deeds of the past and make him feel deep affection is second. It would be ideal if it reached the point where he thought of our country as his second hometown, but well, I want to make it feel natural. For now, it would be better to make my invitations light. No, the thing I should focus on is reducing the contact between him and other countries) (Sairitz)

She doesn’t know what kind of easy and scary method the demon race uses to jam the thought transmission.

Could it be a level of understanding the hyumans are far from reaching, or maybe a plan that they took a lot of time to prepare in order to make it work?

And yet, there’s people that carefreely thwart those plans, with small numbers.

Kuzunoha Company, and their master, Raidou.

Honestly speaking, they surpassed by leaps and bounds the power and scale that Sairitz initially anticipated.

Battle power that can heedlessly take care of variants, and knowledge that can easily destroy the plans of the demon race.

On top of that, the sword one of his followers named Tomoe showed a few days ago; the teleporting sword.

Counting all those factors in, in the worst case scenario, it can even reach the level where they are able to destroy countries.

Imprudently provoking them would be extremely stupid, and to hand them over to another country would be practically the same as giving them her own country, is what she thought.

And so, revising her evaluation of Raidou and looking at him again, Sairitz felt like her consciousness would fly away after learning about how dangerous of an existence he is.

At first glance, he looks like a docile person.

Thinking about his real strength, it is to an impossible level even if taking into account that the evaluation of Raidou was low at first glance.

That’s why, thinking about the people that have a bit of power, nobles, wealthy merchants, or people that easily get arrogant, that might try acting in a pressuring manner towards him, and if by chance his mood is harmed by that attitude; simply thinking about it makes Sairitz have cold sweat.

Also, Raidou has a liking towards demi-humans and employs them.

If certain demi-humans that have been unreasonably treated by the hyumans enter their ranks and the Kuzunoha Company begins to move for their sake, what would happen?

Not only cold sweat, Sairitz wouldn’t be able to sleep for several days.

Without doubt, they would be able to make a demi-human country on the level of the four major powers. To have five major powers; not a joke that can be laughed at.

(There’s Wise that don’t hold discrimination towards demi-humans, so it is scary that I can’t even joke about it. That situation would still have salvation, but in the worst case, if he were to support the demon race…) (Sairitz)

Sairitz stopped thinking in the middle.

Because she thought that having demi-humans as their allies and creating a country on the level of the four major powers is still in the level of cute. In her mind, something even scarier popped up.

The unification of the world.

The demon race that challenges the Goddess.

It would turn into a situation that can be considered the end of the world.

Kuzunoha Company is a double-edged sword.

A sword of calamity that has the power to cut countries apart.

(This is the worst. I feel like I am participating in a roulette with destruction written in it for eternity) (Sairitz)

While feeling discomfort similar to anemia, Sairitz touches her forehead with her right hand.

The sticky sweat felt cold, and it was denoting her current mental state.

“Sairitz-sama, so you were here!”

“… What happened?” (Sairitz)

She wasn’t feeling well, but when her subordinate called her, she reacted and lifted her head.

“Yes, it is an emergency. Please return to the shelter at once!”

“Emergency? Tonight there’s nothing aside from the meeting Falz-dono proposed though, did something-” (Sairitz)

“At any rate, just hurry please!”

Sairitz felt it was slightly rude of the subordinate to cut her words, but she judged that something must have happened, so she followed her subordinate and entered the courtyard’s shelter.

A tense atmosphere she didn’t feel when she left, and the noisiness as if she returned to the first day of the incident, surprised Sairitz.

The back of the subordinate that was short of words was already far away. Sairitz regretted that she didn’t calm down a bit more and had him explain the situation.

(This doesn’t look like a trivial matter. The most I know is that our dragon units are supposed to arrive by early morning, but I haven’t received any report of it yet. Maybe they have obtained new information after the thought transmission was recovered) (Sairitz)

‘And it is not good information’, is what Sairitz added internally.

Walking towards the place where the hurriedness is the highest, Sairitz saw the representative of a major power with a complexion she normally doesn’t see that person with.

The Limia King is personally giving orders violently. The prince and the convalescent knight are also moving busily.

The Gritonia Princess is giving out orders to her several subordinates, however, she shows an unconcealable irritated expression from time to time. Well, Sairitz is skilled at looking at people, so she is able to detect the slight changes in the expressions of others.

Even if she stays in place, she won’t understand anything in detail.

The action Sairitz took, was to enter that place.

“Limia, Gritonia; just what in the world is happening to make the representatives of major powers like this?” (Sairitz)

The response for the calm words of Sairitz, were a pair of harsh expressions.

Limia King, Princess Lily.

What both of them had in common was their impatience.

“… Sairitz-dono huh. I have something I want to ask quickly. Where’s Raidou?” (King)

“Same here. I want to know where Raidou is” (Lily)

“Just a moment ago I met with him. Just like how you two said, I requested him to somehow restore the thought transmission” (Sairitz)

And then, without even 10 minutes after, it was restored.

If she accepts the reality of that, she can’t help but feel shivers all over her body.

She doesn’t understand the reason why they didn’t move until after several days, but this means that, if the situation requires it, they can act in a heartless manner.

The more faces she sees of their company, the more terrifying it looks.

“… As expected, if it’s them, they are able to do it huh. Or maybe, they were able to, but didn’t do it? No, this is something we decided, right now it is not the time for that. The time it would take to look for him is precious. In that case, the moment we are able to make contact with him, it would be best if we wait for him at the entrance of the shelter” (King)

“I will accompany” (Lily)

Limia King and the one accompanying him, the prince, and also Princess Lily, lined up and began to walk towards the exit.

Sairitz, who hasn’t heard about the situation yet, was anxious.

Trying to somehow understand the situation, she catches up with the back of the two and requests an explanation.

Because they seem to be the ones that know the most. No, her intuition was telling her that they were a related party.

“Both of you, please explain me the situation” (Sairitz)

“… It’s a raid”

“Raid?” (Sairitz)

Limia King fires words with a loathsome expression. And Sairitz returns it with a question.

“The demon race, Sairitz-dono” (King)

“Yeah, I do think this incident with the variants was caused by the demons but…” (Sairitz)

“That’s not it. In the homegrounds” (King)

“The imperial capital” (Lily)

“!!”

A scream that can’t be turned into words filled the throat of Sairitz.

Because the words the representatives said were a scary truth.

The advance of the demon race.

News that shake the world.

“I know that it is an inane plan to provoke Raidou, but in this kind of situation, we have no choice but to ask for the unreasonable of him” (King)

“Totally agree your Majesty. One step wrong and their teleportation might turn into a threat. If it were to damage the sword, I would be secretly happy about it though” (Lily)

“Oya, how dangerous. Is Lily-sama stating that they are a threat?” (Sairitz)

“Sairitz-dono, let me state this frankly, this is not the time to be chit-chatting. The moment we secretly agreed on how to deal with them, it made us practically into accomplices. Please don’t forget that” (Lily)

“?!!”

“I hold the same opinion as the Empire’s princess. Sairitz-dono, you still don’t fully understand the situation yet. Listen well, the ones attacking are an army that is being led by a demon general. The ones being attacked are the capital of my country and the empire’s municipal. In other words, Lorel’s important Priestess-dono is also fighting” (King)

“Chiya-sama too?! Your Majesty, what do you mean by that?! For the capital to be attacked and have both the hero-sama and priestess-sama in the middle of battle is just… isn’t that strange?! What is the army of the kingdom doing?! To let the enemies infiltrate so far and haven’t let the hero-sama and its party escape is just… that’s abandoning their responsibility towards the world and-” (Sairitz)

“Shut up!” (Lily)

Seeing that Sairitz suddenly began blaming Limia King, Lily shouted.

Being cut off in the middle of her words, Sairitz looked like she still had more to say as she glared at Lily.

For her, no, for Lorel, the Priestess is that much of an important existence.

Just by having the Priestess that the residents in the country hold deep affection for, in another country, they hold no good affection towards Limia, and yet, on top of that, if she hears that danger is approaching them, it can’t be helped that she would lose her calm for a moment there.

The reason why she acts more friendlier with Princess Lily than to the Limia King, is also because of this.

“Listen well, Sairitz-dono. My country’s imperial capital is facing several enemy units already. And it seems they all appeared at the same time. We are currently trying to handle the situation, investigating from what direction they came attacking from. Limia is also the same” (Lily)

“At our country, it seems they detected a black mass appearing at the coast and advancing. It is already close to approaching the capital. I don’t understand what’s going on anymore. Those guys hold several trump cards?” (King)

“We need to revise the current battle progress as well. The aim of the demon race that holds the iron wall Stella Fort and is able to fight against both the Kingdom and the Empire. One wrong step and it might prove fatal. That’s how it is, so if you think that we are doing something excessive in our negotiations with Raidou, enter in the middle of it and make a good follow-up. It is not a bad deal right? His impression of us will lower, and his impression of you will increase after all” (Lily)

“I don’t care if I am the carrot or the stick, I just want to dispatch him to my country” (King)

“I also have to give commands in the imperial capital. I have to at least avoid the hero-sama of ending up in a hopeless situation” (Lily)

Impatience also begins welling up from Sairitz.

The Priestess might die.

The Priestess of the next era has not been born yet.

If Chiya dies, Lorel will lose the fulcrum for their spirit. Moreover, if something happens to Limia and Gritonia, Lorel will also turn into a country standing in the frontlines.

If those two catastrophes were to overlap, just what would happen to the country, it isn’t something she can predict at all.

“Could it be that… using the variants here was a decoy in itself?!” (Sairitz)

“I don’t think it is a complete coincidence” (King)

“I want to believe that it is a coincidence there are more VIP gathered this year than normal, but if information about Academy Town being attacked appears, it is obvious that the other countries will send troops and supplies. As a decoy it has a lot of inconsistency, but it will surely show some sort of effectiveness” (Lily)

“We were on the misconception that the demon race would stay in Stella Fort maintaining defense like a turtle, so even if we were to send troops, we would only need to delay our attack to the Fort. And because we had that way of thinking, we lowered our guard. They splendidly got the better of us. How irritating” (King)

“Well, it isn’t all bad news. At the very least, restoring thought transmission with this timing, it should be safe to assume that Kuzunoha Company and Raidou are not spies of the demon race” (Lily)

“Even if we endure this, it wouldn’t be a laughing matter if they used that teleport technique to attack us while we are in an audience after all. If Raidou were someone that is in cahoots with the demon race, he wouldn’t have restored the thought transmission. In that part, I am also slightly relieved” (King)

The three representatives of the major powers were talking while walking in quick pace. Without waiting for their escorts to catch up, they arrived at the entrance of the shelter.

They felt every second as long. Painful tens of minutes pass.

A major power King, a major power royalty, and a person with high position in a major power.

The player that is making this many major power leading personages wait, Raidou, received a call from the Academy and appears in front of the shelter.

Tomoe and Shiki; two followers of his and Falz-dono, the Adventurer Guild’s master, were accompanying him.

“Raidou, we have to talk” (King)

“It is something incredibly important” (Lily)

“I am sorry that this has to come as soon as I made a request before” (Sairitz)

Three restless voices were shot at Raidou simultaneously.

He showed surprise for a second, but not long after, without showing any hesitation in his expression, he bowed in front of the three.

His followers also follow his lead.

While they hear the talk of the three, Raidou’s face gradually turns severe.

The King thought that this reaction was brought by his hate towards the demon race.

But the truth was different.

Raidou (Makoto) felt insecure, thinking that his days would pass without ever meeting the two Japanese that came to this world, and the anger towards the truth about this attack of Rona being a decoy; those two emotions were warping his expression.

The long night slowly advances.

  1. The fact the MC still doesn’t realize that the Demons don’t give a fk about him or any type of hyumans is just dumb.

Atleast there’s some hyumans that actually consider him a friend

  2. Started reading your translations, went full 24/7 on them, thanks for all these amazing chapters 🙂

  3. Think Makoto will split his forces to each country? Like Tomoe going to Lily’s kingdom, Miu will go to the King’s kingdom and Shiki going to Sairitz’s kingdom.

  4. Hey hey, reigokai, are you pushing yourself? I or some other kind fans here wont mind if you take a 4 day or 5 day per chapter once in a while though?

  5. Okaaaaaaay! So!

1- After coming this far helping the hyumans (and feeling more antagonism towards Rona), it would be difficult to refuse those 3 pleas now. At the very least, Kuzunoha’s evaluation would drop, probably (does Makoto even care about that now?). In that case, I think going to Limia first is the best choice: helps both Limia and Lorei’s priestess at once, and weakens the Empire (considering that trash hero and Lily’s plans, which Makoto wants to obstruct).

2- I love how Sairitz realizes Kuzunoha can be heartless if necessary…

3- … and I love even more that, after helping hyumans so much, Makoto will probably refuse all their offers, and casually go meet the Demon King whose plans he himself thwarted! XD

    1. 1 – Does Makoto even know about the trashy hero being so… trashy? I don’t remember him hearing about “the incident” (I could be wrong)… Actually, now that I think about it, I don’t remember him hearing about either meeting between his followers and the heroes

      2 – Full agreement

3 – I wonder if Makoto will think about the logic of his agreement. He agreed to “meet with the demon lord”, he never agreed to actually talk or listen to him. Hell, he never agreed to not walk in and even blow the place up… Not following the spirit of the agreement can work both ways

      1. He learned that Tomoe has met Tomoki but Tomoe was vague about the encounter to let Makoto develop his own impression of the guy, which Makoto didn’t mind generally agreeing with her opinion. Mio doesn’t know that she met the Limia Hero, in her opinion the person she met was too weak to be much more then an average adventurer. She expects a summoned Hero blessed by the Goddess to be closer in power to Makoto when she first met him, not someone that would be killed by a moderate to low level creature from the wastes.

I’m curious if he will be in that mood when he finally meets the Demon Lord. He was kind of looking forward to it before but his mood has gone fairly sour after the recent mess.

        1. Mio then has a high opinion of the heroes. But did one of the chapters she made a comment that she was the sworn enemy of the heroes since they are on the side of the Goddess.

      2. @Daniel: Tomoe told him about her encounter with Gritonia’s party, as well as their plans to make guns… and Makoto decides to stop it. As for the meeting… we’ll see. Looking foward to it, hehehe!

@David: Mio is said to be a dimensional drifter, not na enemy to anyone (or maybe everything that it sees? lol)

      1. Wrong. Well, right but wrong. The word was ‘antecessor’, which is another word for ‘predecessor’.

  6. Thanks for the chapter. Before anything else why didnt the flag with the prince raised anything………… anyway Wasnt what spoiler san hiding mention by someone in the previous chapter? Also i wish he depoly his spy those fairies are just sitting around doing nothing. He at least would have know of the plots of corn coming to threaten him. I kinda remember tomoe say she wishes to avoid things that would affect waka too much….. if they threaten him wouldnt that change alot ……. and wth happen to the 2 fallen princess.

  7. All 3 the king, Lily and Sairits are bastards.

Well lily was a bitch since the beginning.

The king was kind of a nice guy cuz he aproved secretly of Hibikis ideals of equality and justice, but with this chapter he proves to be a bastard he wants to use MC too.

But at least Sairitz was not a bad person but with the use scary methods and etc to make MC obey Lorel i hateed her, i though lorel was kind of Jap as a country cuz the wise, but when she metions that methods, i think the wise from her country migh have been slaved or bringed by force so the count goes +1 to the bitch females of Bugs world.

And lastly i hope MC get a little revenge(payback) to scary rona a little, what would be the best way to achive this payback according me, well i would like MC to f***k up (total anihilation of demons in the fort- erase from the map the whole structure)stella fort and, leave Io and rona really hurt, like months to recover, and let Limia and Grittonia to fend for themselfs, the perfect thing the MC could if he is asked to fight would be to teleport Bitch No1(Lily), Bitch No2(Sairitz) and King to their respective capitals and just watch, till lily, Sairitz and the king request Kuzunoha services 😉 , for a price haha, the MC then would include in the price as a deal a free commerce treaty with out taxes and without the mediaton of the merchant guild, basically MC throws away merchant guild saying the representative Zara and the guild are corrupts and jealous of people bussines succes etc etc. The mc get his little payback from every one LOL.

    1. Can’t really blame the King ot Lily, while they were out of communication the countries they have been working to protect were attacked by armies that came out of nowhere and they didn’t learn about it until the battle was already underway. At this point the are mostly panicing. There isn’t time for them to move other forces to reinforce their capitals, if they were going to do that they would have needed to start it several days ago as it takes time to move large numbers of troops. The troops they would have wanted to move are also more out of place since they responded to Academy City being attacked and moved to help and then communication was cut off. As a result they need to do something to help NOW and the only force they know of that is strong enough and mobile enough to be able to give any meaningful aid is Kuzunoha Company.

They know its risky and they don’t really want to do it but they have no other options. They even asked Sairitz to act as good cop to try and make sure that they don’t pressure Makoto too much and piss him off. Sairitzs’ plan to bring Makoto to her contry is also an act of self preservation, as she said in her thoughts, if she lets him just wander around she doesn’t know what might set him off, she can’t let him join the side of any other country as that would be the equivalent of just handing her country to that one, if the country that Makoto joined decided to attack Lorel they would have to surrender for fear of what Makoto might do.

The major powers are fairly balanced in ability, as was mentioned much earlier in the story the Hyumans have a long history of attacking each other, not just the Demons and Demihumans. Lorel has managed to survive and stay a major power by finding and collecting all of the Wise to their contry and using their knowledge for their advancement. They can’t afford to let one of the other major powers gain some Wise as that place would be able to upset the balance of power. Lorel does want the Wise to join them willingly and will do what they need to to make them happy as its easier to get information from someone that wants to cooperate with you then someone you have forced to join you. Having methods such as fear and force available does not mean that they are the first choice. Since Lorel has been collecting and using Wise to advance their country it probably has a lot of traits similar to Japan and would make most of the Wise more comfortable then the rest of that world. They would also be treated well and be welcomed, which is not something that would happen in the rest of that world with the standard of beauty and discrimination that the Hyumans imploy.

      1. BTW, I’m sure that Lorel is not happy and a bit nervous that the Heros were summoned and are in other countries. We have already seen one of the effects in the fact that Lily is trying to make guns and gunpowder, things that Lorel already knows about and possesses (at least for gunpowder, Lily was asking her about it at that social test for the daughters).

  8. I like the general writing style of Author-sensei — delving into the inner monologues of the characters — but I do wish he would stop using it as padding so that he can skimp out on the technical concepts and the plot events. He didn’t even try to explain how he unjammed the thought transmission. It is what it is, he says. Sigh.

    1. I thought the explanation was pretty clear. The demon race planted a bunch of passive devices around the town. Makoto fired a one-shot homing gatling gun and blasted them all.

      1. The devices were all passive charging low energy things, since the shot that Makoto fired off didn’t affect Root or Tomoe at all he probably just gave them a jumpstart with a large mass of energy and shorted out or fused their ability to gather energy, thus causing them to stop operating.

Makoto stated that he didn’t need to destroy them, just make them stop working. Think of what he did as something similar to an EMP burst, but targeted. Doesn’t destroy or hurt other devices and causes what it hits to not work anymore.

      2. But it was also implied that Makoto didn’t miss and that his power even zigzagged to get to the “devices”. If that was the case, then why did they also hit Root and Tomoe? I doubt that they would have any of those “devices” in their possession.

      3. The beams didn’t hit Root and Tomoe, they went through them to targets on the otherside of them. I seem to remember they were not on the ground but up on a roof or something so the ball of light that Makoto fired reached about their hight or a little higher before scattering. If the energy beams he fired were not able to go through things without harming them then there would have been holes drilled through buildings and the ground all over the city, he also would have had to be more careful about SoL between him and the targets, can’t have the burning holes through random citizens.

Making the beams high enough power that they short-out the target without hurting anything else on the path is one of the reasons that the attack left Tomoe and Root stunned (especially Root). Sure Makoto could have made the beams powerful enough to slice through anything in the way and the fact he could probably do so is one of the things that Root was probably thinking of. If Makoto is able to fire off hundreds of beams to hit targets scattered across a large town with only enough power to disable his targets what would have happened if he launched a similar ball but with higher power and targeted all of the people in a town or battlefield. That one attack, which didn’t seem hard for him could wipe out armies in seconds.

    2. It is sound like PEM just that he used magic instead of Electromagnetic energy his followers told him before about the device and a normal people should not be afeccted just for a few traces of energy

“Turning into absurd amounts of strings, it didn’t limit itself to the town, it rained on the whole zone.

Some made acute angles, bending several times, and there are some that just go straight.

Without a chance to defend against it, it pierces through the body of Root and Tomoe.”

  9. thanks for the chapter! so we finally close to makoto meeting the two heroes now that will be fun also i was wondering how would and why makoto would join in the war turns out the demons planted a diversion and with that the representatives will ask makoto to help them (bad move rona) and also mio wasnt with them when they appeared in the gate so im sure shes up to something. Now how will makoto stir up the war? throw nukes? nah itll be over in an instant . maybe get kaleneon participate? cause really the whole name of this arc is kaleneon participation in war or somthing the like and now were about to enter a new arc and kaleneon didnt even shown that it has revived or something neverthless now will see makoto in action yeah!! cant wait

  10. Well ain’t this typical of hyumans, Sairitz has at least seen the light and is fearful of Makoto to now treat him with utmost respect. Yet Limia and Gritonia plans to exploit Kuzunoha while scheming in how to eliminate them if they turn out to be too powerful to keep around. Makoto needs to find a way to block the goddess’ teleport ASAP if he wants true freedom :T

  11. Excuse me~ i know that you don’t like how the mc act and personality. But, can you all say your dissatisfied somewhere else. It make me quite irritated you know and whats more is this your wn? Are you the translator? Dont just compare one character to another just because you found flaws in them openly. Because it’s rude to those who enjoyed it and worked for it. Plus, even real humans have flaws but you can’t just say that you don’t like it—
Ahhh!! Now i got angry no reason.
Any way my point is. Stop saying something like you hate it or you are dissatisfied with it couse it will ruin the mood of those who translate it and enjoyed it. Please

  12. Guessing that Hibiki berates Makoto on why he has so much power but doesn’t do anything to stop the demons?

If she really does so, I hope Makoto will call Hibiki out on the stupidity of trying to dictating someone to do something that he or she has absolutely no interest in while also shining a light to the idiocy of being totally dependent on someone else to solve everything just because he or she is strong. Any smart person would see the ridiculous cons of trying to lead a bunch of idiots (ala plenty of the hyumans) outweigh the pros. Really smart and less caring people would let the idiots live or die by themselves while helping those who aren’t stupid (unless the issue affects the smart ones).

Tomoki will probably get mad that he’s way, way underpowered compared to Makoto (and yet both came from the same place). In which case i hope Makoto will just let Mio erase Tomoki and friends or for a gentler solution remove all powers from Tomoki (then laugh when he gets dumped by Gritonia and his not brainwashed collegues).

Then there’s Rona. Though her provocation of Makoto is incidental since their plans were likely already in motion from long before, he less than diplomatic method of handling it means getting Makoto pissed at her, which is not very conducive for actually winning a war.

    1. In this LN/WN I read before, there was a great part where the OP MC of it gave an awesome “why you suck” speech to some other people about why he doesn’t use his powers for the humans and such. Besides the possibility of peace between both sides being possible given the right conditions and neither side being inherently evil, he also gives the finger to that age old Spider man line “with great power comes great responsibility.” He basically says that just because you have power, does not inherently mean that you should be obligated to do anything with it. Just because you have power does it mean you should save or destroy the world just because you can? No. You seek out greater power in order to achieve a purpose. You shouldn’t have a purpose thrust upon you just because you suddenly have the power of change in your hands; especially if that scenario has no direct effect on you. Makoto is the same. He can create, destroy, and all around just make the world his bitch if he really wanted to, but he doesn’t because he has no reason to (it would be quite tedious). So he just does as he wills while trying to avoid troublesome stuff and people.

      1. Using your power or not to save others depends on the conditions of the place you are. If you can use your abilities to help people and not have them come looking for you anytime they have a problem to beg for your help, then sure, use your power to help others. If it gets out that you have power some people will assume that their issue or problem is critical and that you should help them. You will notice that SpiderMan uses his ability to help others but does not let others know who he is and he is well aware that it would make him and people he knows into targets. Following his creed requires you to be able to do so without being identifiable, which in the real world is fairly hard to actually manage. In a world with magic, spirits, and gods it would be basically impossible which would lead to everyone assuming that you should be using your power for THEIR sake because their issues are obviously of great importance because it matters to them.

Just look at this chapter, they realized that Makoto has access to power and abilities that they need and they went right to him to ask for his help, sure he is the closest and fastest way to solve their problem but what would they have done if he was not around or he tells them to bug off?

On the issue of taking over the world many MCs have said in some realistic stories:

“Why would I want to control the world? Do you know how tedious that would be?”

If you ruled the world what would you do with it? Not like you can pay attention to all of the details of the small stuff so you end up delegating. You might as well just have control of a sizable country where you can do what you want without others bothering you, and if you had the power to take over the world not many people would risk bugging you.

  13. I said this a long time ago but as expected Lorel is the type of country to incarcerate the Wise and now we know that it’s also a fanatic country.

    1. There are many ways to incarcerate or isolate someone, not all of them are unpleasent. Put him in a palace filled with pretty women and things and feed him well and he is as isolated and controled as someone in a cell. Not all bars need to be visible.

Unfortunately for Lorel, Makoto has read a fair number of novels and the “trap the hero with honey” trope is not uncommon and he is well aware of what they are probably planning, its why he turned her down earlier.

      1. I forgot about honey traps since Makoto looks hideous to them, thanks for the reminder. If they are that hell-bent on “adopting” wise-men it is because they are useful and the priestess is probably just a symbol but an important one, Lorel might be the most dangerous country around with all that fanaticism.

      2. Yea, the “honey trap” is probably even more effective on Wise as they would have been stuck in a world that treated them like crap up until then. The general population would have treated most Wise as hideous creatures so someone beautiful coming up to them and treating them with kindness could quickly sway their hearts to follow them. Sairitz even hinted/tried that in her first meeting with Makoto at the party with her line about the world being cruel to him and her being able to give him a place he would be welcomed. The reason it didn’t work was because Makoto already has a personal country where everyone treats him better then well. Anytime he is feeling too pressured by the Hyumans he can just visit Asora and put it in perspective, none of the other Wise would have had that option. Makoto even commented to himself about how her offer must have been appealing to other Wise.

  14. I am seriously wondering how this will end. I don’t think Makoto will go just like that to save the capital and kick the demon’s butt otherwise the Major power will be able request his strenght everytime they need to wage war against the demons. On the other hand I don’t really see Makoto letting the capital be destroyed or he would feel too guilty. Maybe he will defend the capital and lose on purpose against the demon general will sending his followers to save the population?

  15. Equal to one of the great nations? No, Sairitz, you got it wrong … at least to each of the two of the world’s three superpowers (humans + goddess, demons + their allies allies, neutrals made up of mamons + supreme dragons + spirits).

So … in the end, Makoto got irritaed by both humans and demons, hm?

  16. Ok I finally understood the face that Makoto made at the end of the chapther, again people are bashing our MC for not beign an “ASS”. Really you need to understand he is a teenager, barely has hair in his face and you want him to either act like spoiled brat going out of reservation with anything that bothers him because he has the power or plan and scheme like a veteran Poltician like Underworld. He is neither, he is learnig and adapting to a completely new word, with diferent rules and costumes that what he is used to.

  17. ty for the chapter^^
I was expecting sairitz to be assassinated by her guards the whole time…so I guess specifically those demons are really on her country’s side?

  18. I have had these questions for the longest time. What are makoto’s abilities? Does he know any spells? Does he have to chant? What is a brid? What happened to his field that could put effects on other things? And why didn’t he use that field to weaken that dragon killer girl or strengthen himself?
Maybe they explained his abilities somewhere, but I must have forgot.

    1. Brid is a basic attack spell, kind of like a small arrow made out of the element chosen.

Chanting or not is based on the spell complexity and the magic language used. Makoto does chant at times but you can bypass the chant if you pump enough mana into the spell. Makoto has insane amount of mana so he normally just bypasses the chanting step and pays the extra cost.

Its not clear at this point what kind or how many spells Makoto currently knows. He has spent many months in the library of a magic academy reading any magic book he could get his hands on and practicing the spells in his spare time.

He currently is constantly using his field to mask his mana, its gotten to the point where his clothes and rings only suppress his leaking mana down to exessive levels from insane levels so he is using it to erase his mana presense completely. The field affects both him and anything else in the field so if he tried to use it to weaken the dragon slayer he would have weakened himself as well. He did use it to strengthed himself during that battle but he was panicing and more focused on defense/fleeing then fighting so it was increasing the power of the defense walls he put up and his clothes/body.

    2. Maybe you need to read the manga? IMO the manga version have more decent explanation & show case of Makoto’s ability. At first, I read the manga version then i read the WN version because i can’t wait patiently to read the manga’s chapter monthly.

  19. Thanks for the chapter ( ^∇^)

    *read the comment*

i think people forget this but MIO WIN HER WISH WELL COME TRUE …..to be his wife or something like that

now WHERE MY HOPE AND DREAM WHEN THAT GOING TO HAPPEN (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

sorry for the caps *bow down* (✖╭╮✖)

  20. i actually likes makoto this way, he knows that he is OP, however he tried to enjoy his life and use his power only when really needed.

imagine if he is the kind of person who would just support a country whatsoever, and everyone began flaunting him etc. this novel would be boring. (reminds me of this one novel… che.)

  21. Ok, I didn’t catch on what made Raidou mad, but I know that the shrewdeness of those trhee makes me want to beat them to an inch of their live, Sairitz the most, the gal that she had to pretend that she consider him as a person but like everyone else (except a few) just see Makoto as a weapon, and even worse knowing how powerfull he and his companions are still dares to scheme……mann this author is good. By the way Sensei Reigokai thanks for another wonderfull chapter as always.

  22. I wonder what’s with this feeling of mine saying let’s just let them destroy all the capitals then destroy every army by sending mio tomoe and shiki and nuke the demon capital with an arrow hahahaha!
    Thanks for the chap ~

  23. oh ive been waiting for these!!

the time for the second beating on the two with the word vengence on makotos fist!!

and soon hope theres a nuke coming in the demon side saying “godzilla!!!… i mean tsunami!!!”

    1. Sairitz ponders just how OP Makoto is and makes plans to try and win him over emotionally.
Sairitz learns that the Demons launched attacks on Limia and Gritonia during the variant chaos.
Sairitz, Limia Kind, and Lily decide to ask Makoto for help, with Lily and King maybe being forceful and Sairitz coming in as a moderate.
The 3 describ the issue to Makoto and the chapter ends with Makoto not happy with someone.

  24. Uh…. So the re are at léast one person not totally blind…. Sairizt….
The King and lily thinks They can coarce makoto to join up the fight? Why? He is not a citicen of their countries…. “Only” a merchant…
Or They think that makoto being a merchant cannot deny their “order” to fight ?….
The only thing can do makoto fight, is payback to rona, and the King better be humble,… Cause his most fearsome enemy is not demon King but could be makoto if They piss him off….
Lily… You are scheming to rob tomoe from makoto cause trashmoki fancy her…. Now you will plead? Shameless…. I guess we are near the time when makoto meets Other heroes…. I am sure there will be problems…. One being trashmoki , the Other a justice junkie…. Both withouth care if what They do killing is right…. One lusting his family(wayfu) Other want rob him mio too(yuri ? …. Is a joke)
They will meet doom…. I cannot waiiiiiiittttttttt!,,!!!!!! Je je thanks for chapter

    1. I think you have a biased view on more or less everything

      >Uh…. So the re are at léast one person not totally blind…. Sairizt….
because she is the only one
-who saw that the light was makoto’s power
-who saw that their best magic couldn’t read his magic power and his though, and was probably very strong for managing that feat. thus managing to hide all his power and pass for a mister nobody.
ok, the king saw him kill a variant, but it can be out of his range of evaluation

      >The King and lily thinks They can coarce makoto to join up the fight? Why? He is not a citicen of their countries…. “Only” a merchant…
      >Or They think that makoto being a merchant cannot deny their “order” to fight
      the king said
      >”I know that it is an inane plan to provoke Raidou, but in this kind of situation, we have no choice but to ask for the unreasonable of him”
he admit himself, their demande is unreasonable but they have no other choice than to try it. all the pride and arogance that you are implying only come from the fact that you are salty that they didn’t fall on their knee shitless scared and sucked the dick of our glorious and invicible OPMC-sama, idolizing him like a god.

      >The only thing can do makoto fight, is payback to rona, and the King better be humble,…
      >Cause his most fearsome enemy is not demon King but could be makoto if They piss him off….
it’s not something they are supposed to know, the king never behaved like an arrogant prick before.
And makoto isn’t someone prompt to solve every problem through violence, not like tomoki, wait you call him “trashmoki” for his execrable personality. ironic, right?

      >Lily… You are scheming to rob tomoe from makoto cause trashmoki fancy her…. Now you will plead? Shameless….
that’s politics for you, only schemes everywhere. was it surprising? no.
but on the other hand, you are probably part of the people harshly bashing hyuman for being weak in schemes and tactics.
scheme is shamefull and no schemes is retard. what are they supposed to do?

      >the Other a justice junkie…. Both withouth care if what They do killing is right
hibiki said she doubted the godess about the war against the demons (she was said they were twisted and malicious creature) and wanted a talk with the godess before fort stella attack to clarify the situation. but in the end she is in war, she fight or she die.
you would have hailed her pure intention if she was the MC, but she has more a “rival” position in the novel, so you can’t stand her.

      >They will meet doom…I cannot waiiiiiiittttttttt!
Yeah, makoto! go wave your dick to show them how a big boy you are!

TL;DR: you talked about blindness for the king and the princess, I think you are very blind for someone with a wider view of the situation than them.

      1. Small point:

“-who saw that their best magic couldn’t read his magic power and his though, and was probably very strong for managing that feat. thus managing to hide all his power and pass for a mister nobody.”

was not Sairitz but the staff of the Church of the Goddess. A high ranking clergy was present for that and had the report about trying to study him and the receipe for his medicine. Sairitz is a high ranking member of the government of a different country and its not know how much they worship the Goddess, they probably don’t put too much faith in her as they have been exposed to the ideas and knowledge of Wise for many generations. That Archbishop decided to hide the information from the visiting royals/officials of the various countries to try and keep their eyes off Makoto until they are able to try and take advantage of him. Makoto kind of shot that to hell though with his behaviour during the variant attack. Would be interesting to see another SS with that persons reaction.

  25. i think makoto won’t helping them that easily, he at most will be helping them with defense and leave all the fighting to the 2 heroes.
and to makoto ignorance Tomoe is still in the process teaching him with all knowledge and tomoe after all is still his subordinate so she just give him the answer the one he’s asking and still leave makoto to think the decision himself

  26. Thanks for the chapter~!

Now I wonder what Makoto will do?

Btw, Makoto might have Bug-level power, but the Bug can do things that cannot be blocked by pure power, such as possibly teleporting him directly into a star, winking him out of existence and such godlike things. Until he has a full grasp of what he can do, best not to antagonize the Bug.

    1. Main reason he has been trying to laylow and learn as much as he can and had his people researching ways to block her were fears of things like that.

    2. Makoto only have god like magic power not skill while bug is skilled person with thousands of year experience. In front of bug makoto is noobest noob. Result is very clear when noob and skilled person will fight.

      1. I dunno. Bug seems to be pretty stupid to me. She completely missed Root’s ploy against hyumanity with the guild, spoils her favored race to the point of weakening them, and threw out Makoto for his looks without a care for his power.

      2. Being careless and shortsighted are not the same as not having power and skill.

Things have been easy for her for a very long time, so long that she dozed off for a decade. She had set everything up so that her favored people could easily beat any threat they faced. She didn’t need to plan or pay attention to details, giving your followers a 4x power bonus makes that sort of thing unneeded. Plans and strategy can make up for a certain difference in power but if the difference becomes too great it can be used to just overwhelm the other side.

Basically she became complacent. She didn’t need to help more then tapping bless and curse and bask in their worship. When she first created the Hyumans out of the original Humans she probably used a lot of skills and abilities, its been a long time since then though and she might have lost track on how to do some things.

  27. What i think will happen, comsidering this arc is called war on kaleneon.
Instead of defending the major power, makoto will warn rona that kuzunoha will launch an offensive on kaleneon.
The demon army will have to choose between defending a territory or going to war on 3 sides

    1. Chapter even.

Makoto: Mio, go deal with the Demon General at Limia, Tomoe, go deal with the problem at Gritonia, Shiki, you and I need to go have a stern chat with someone.
Tomoe: but I want to play with the Demon General..

  28. Spoiler-san: Stupid vessel, we’re late by a lot because you had to marathon the final season of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX!

OhMarioWV: Oh shut up and do your thing.

Spoiler-san: Fine… *sighs* Well, Spoiler-san said that the shit shower isn’t completely over. We’re about to enter Spoiler-san’s favorite arc, “The Participation of the Majin”. Though you can just switch out “Majin” with “Devil” thanks to Reigo-senpai’s translation. Anywho, a few important enemies are returning. Also there will be something going on in this coming arc that not even Spoiler-san knows the truth behind yet as it hadn’t been mentioned a while in the raws. Spoiler-san could spoil it for you, but the higher power that told Spoiler-san off might get mad. All you need to know is that a certain piece of trash is about to be–

    OhMarioWV: Don’t say it!!!

Spoiler-san: Oh yeah, the higher power might be mad at us. Thanks.

    OhMarioWV: I wasn’t referring to that…

Spoiler-san: Then what were you referring to?

    OhMarioWV: Truck-kun!!!!

    *both get hit by Truck-kun*

    Spoiler-san: Well… he hasn’t appeared in a long… time…

    OhMarioWV: I… hate… you…

  29. thanks for the chap and please MOAR. ok finally get to something bit more violent , the way i liked, everybod is taking a shot a makoto lately, time to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and he might be out of gum.

  30. Actually, now that I think about it…Does anyone think Rona is freaking out? She should reach a similar conclusion to the world power leaders about Makoto’s strength after he crushed her months of planning within 10 minutes. And she actually gave him a reason to resent her.

  31. The Author is incredible! He got such a plot at this timing. He’s a genius! Also Makoto’s warped emotions are expected. This has turned into something incredibly interesting.
    Thanks for the chapter!
This is one chapter and at this point I don’t want to make any assumptions, predictions and theories.

  32. Yes! There’s been lots of speculation up until now, but we finally have actual world power leaders that are afraid of Makoto joining an enemy faction with an inkling of his true power.

Kudos to the people that thought the variant attack was a distraction.

“Imprudently provoking them would be extremely stupid[…] A sword of calamity that has the power to cut countries apart”
Additionally, we finally have a very clear and impactful quote to use. 😀

  33. Thanks for the chapter.

My opinion of Sairitz has improved from this chapter. Seems she figured out real fast that the dangers of trying to force Makoto to do something could backfire on her really badly. I’m curious though of why the King and Princess think that Makoto would be willing to bail them out from the demon’s attack. He owes them nothing, hell he isn’t even a citizen or either of their countries (since he came from Tsige he’d be a citizen of Aion). I guess they just assume that if they ask nicely he’ll save them. Jerks. He just might though, if only to give payback to Rona for (what Makoto believes at least) betraying their agreement.

    This could become bloody.

    1. Well since their nations are being attacked, so lets just say no country means nothing to sell, nothing to sell means no business, no business means no money?

    2. Honestly, I assumed that they have to coerce him into it somehow. They’re desperate and are at a level of being willing to get his help through any means possible.

I do wonder what they’ll ask of him. Maybe some kind of mass teleport? I could see a ruse set up where they get a one-chance teleport by breaking the blade, after which Raidou gets to demand exploitive(Not that our soft-hearted Makoto would) compensation.

    3. and also dont forget that they think Makoto have hostility or hate against the demon race without even knowing that Makoto dont give a shit about their race as long they can integrate with other society/race without causing any trouble . In Makoto view everyone is equal, doesnt matter what their race of look like , he just want to enjoy his life while helping the unfortunate (really unfortunate, not the people that have their own agenda or motive to hurt others)

    4. I am more impress they did not consider if makoto decide to destroy the kingdoms on wimp. even the whole world can’t stop him unless the bug decide to come down herself and stop him, even that still can’t prevent the vicinity to be destroyed Well he can still control himself, but what about mio?

      1. This is like a group of people inside a room with a loaded gun. Everyone knows the gun is dangerous but everyone don”t trust other to leave it alone. Raido is the loaded gun.

      2. A cocked, loaded gun with a hair-trigger not currently pointing at you balanced on a stack of glasses. You can tell its a dangerous object just waiting to blow a hole in something and you pray that its not going to be aiming at you, meanwhile next to you, 2 people are poking the glasses with a pole seeing if they can aim the gun at their enemy.

A loaded gun just sitting there is not really very dangerous unless someone picks it up and points it at someone. Makoto is not really going to let himself just be picked up and used but he might go off if you prod him wrong.

  34. I seriously pity those demons.even with all the hardship they face they still sheme, strenthen themselve, gain knowledge all for the sake of winning only to have the mc indirectly.without even being aware(kinda) cruch all their plans …
At this rate the whole demons race will go extinct , i mean , their only chance on wining is this 2 place raid but mc already … heck just that sword and training they gave the hero girl might be enough

#PleaseStopDemonAbuse they just wanted fertile land and killing the godess …like ho wouldn’t want to kill that bug..and they can’t jusr die of starvarion in desert like sol too…and all that sheming was done by only one demon..i like potato…..i confess i just want to see the 2 capital burn and a demon plan succeding for once..

    1. I doubt Makoto is at the level of ignorance that he’ll cause them to go extinct without realizing.
I assume at some point-possibly the parley with the Demon King-he’ll hear their side of the story and become a mediator or equalizer of sorts.

      1. More likely, he will accept any survivors of Mio’s rampage into his faction. The rampage is inevitable, with all factions preparing their honey traps already, so the only question is what order do the world powers get attacked in?

    1. It’s just me fantasizing but I think it’d be really cool if Makoto goes “okay” and shoots his uber magic unto the battlefield at the attacking demons from that very shelter in Rotsgard.

    2. He is expanding his arsenal of basic elements, so as not to be unprepared again. So it should be a question of whether there will be a sea of flames or fresh water, a mountain, spontaneous hurricane, or a blackhole…

  35. and pls makoto’s not a pussy, he don’t know that he is a very powerful being, no one tell him that and his subordinates want him to thinks that way.

  36. If Raidou/Makoto agrees to help them, I wonder how will he strategies this since all 3 nations are attacked. Maybe send Shiki, Tomoe and Mio to each nation with some troops? Either way, this chapter is really exciting and came with with one hell of a cliffhanger. Thanks for your hard work Reigokai.

      1. I feel like if he were to send his people to each capitol, he’d have to take Mio with him to prevent her from going overboard while sending Shiki and Tomoe to the other two countries.

    1. Only 2 nations are attacked, limia and gritonia. Demons want to finish off the heroes..hmmm bug goddess might try to forcefully summon makoto again

  37. thank you for the new chapter :3
dang, they all already have the thought to ‘use’ raidou as ‘ultimate weapon’ against the demon advance army i wonder what their face will like when the truth abouth the ‘devil’ come out or makoto snapped while he got coerced to fight in the frontline i hope it result in another lake

    1. as ultimate weapon yes, but even they understand, they can’t control him. Right now perhaps raudou will help cause rona used him without permission, I guess rona hold him there so that raidou wouldn’t involved in the raid but man.. how wrong can she be that she made raidou mad. If rona did not use him maybe he will let tomoe to decide if he will participate in the counter attack or not, but now it is possible he himself is willing to

    2. Honestly, I bet all Makoto has to do (he’ll definitely do something cause Rona has disappointed him just that much; it’s just a matter of what and how far he’ll go) to stop the demon race is just “lift the veil” he put on his magic power. Remember how those townspeople reacted to his (group of demon lords appeared) level of power back then? His current power level now is goddess-class+. I bet that they would be physically pressed and feel smothered with such power in one place. So many people would faint just from that, not even needing to use his powers. Regardless of what exactly Makoto is gonna do, Rona (and demon lord who I still hope is a loli cause its just hilarious to think so) is gonna be beating herself up over it due to her not only pissing off the single greatest power in the world but also due to not even achieving a fraction of what she hoped to accomplish due to Raidou’s intervention.

  38. Thanks 4 the chapter!

Personally I think he has the power to destroy the world already, not just a single nation. It’s just that he’s too timid to even think he has that much power.

    1. He’s timid yes, but he’s not your everyday wimp that always be yes-man when bullied. He always prefer not to solve things with violence, he even punished his two above 1000 level subordinate cause of excessive violence.
He didn’t choose to become as the king of this world as his purpose in life. He’s just trying to explore the world, building his own home(and nation perhaps), experiencing what’s in this world. He’s just like your everyday starcraft player.

  39. I am starting to seriously dislike Makoto.
When will he realize how much power he holds? Its super frustrating that everyone sees in him a super huge existance but he himself just thinks he is a nobody.
Even his own slaves are doing stuff behind his back, come the fuck on!

    1. i dislike him since quite a while already for that, ihate to say it but even if he notice how big his power is, there will not be a change since he already declared that ALWAYS and i hate it but ALWAYS will be 80% defence 20% offence- since he said he always was going to give priority to his own life / << an attack to asora on full scale 2 > his GF reach that world and he needs to save her somehow < aside from those 2 points i think its quite impossible to makoto to go full power mode

      1. To be fair 20 percent is enough to destroy nations many times over and that doesnt include economic warfare. Flood the market with useless cheap goods will cause massive inflation.

    2. I usually find stories where super-powered people who are aware of their power and act like it need something else to balance it out, because as Death March’s Satou shows, it’s just boring otherwise. “Oh look a dragon comes. I use magic hand and kill the dragon. I don’t understand the language. I pump points into the language and now I’m fluent.” Death March is carried by the strength of its girls.

If you really like stories where people have power and like to flaunt it, read some Chinese novels:
Peerless Martial God – every fight is in front of a crowd (even when that makes no sense), and the crowd will be awed not only by the character’s genius and power, but also his flawless reasoning for why other people are all hypocrites.

Against The Gods – a peerless genius in fighting and medicine who believes the purpose of women is to be sexed up by men, especially men as handsome as him. He likes to think with his little head (which is apparently always correct) He also likes to make grand speeches that make people look stupid.

Duoluo Dalu – a peerless genius in fighting and inventions, whose medical knowledge is surprisingly still accurate despite being reincarnated in a different universe.

Coiling Dragon – a hard-working genius with a good characters. Most abrupt ending EVER.

(Despite how my descriptions sound, I actually enjoyed the stories. Well, 3 out of 4 of them.)

      1. The problem with using ignorance to balance things out is the frustration some people have with Makoto. At some point, he needs to become more aware of what he can do.

That said, some sort of counterbalances will always be needed.

      2. That’s the thing. I don’t think Makoto would drastically change just because he becomes aware that he is at Bug-level of power.

He has a regular person’s sensibility and morals, is actually very level-headed for his age and seems to want to just live a mostly regular life. Going god-slaying or nation-building is very much not normal. (I’m not sure if I would count Asora as nation-building. It’s more like “I have a nice apartment and would like to find good tenants.”)

Yes, the other two Heroes seem to enjoy their powers, but they were given an elevated status from the beginning, praised from day to night, and were dissatisfied with their lives back on Earth.

        1. So the restraint on Makoto’s power is partially his ignorance, and partially his generally agreeable nature?

I guess the author should be planning to nurture his personality even more before removing the former?

      3. I think it’s really just his personality.

Even if he doesn’t know he’s at Bug-level, he knows he’s stronger than Tomoe and Mio, and he also knows those two leveled a town. At that level of strength, he already has the qualifications to just give the middle-finger and smack down anyone who mouths off to him, including kings (and not just lowly merchant heads).

      4. Thing is, while Satou is not inately aggressive, at least no one can step all over him… Makoto on the hand gets stepped on more often than the welcoming mat in front of Walmart…

If he actually stopped bending over 360 degrees for everyone to step on and actually shows more backbone than an invertebrate then the series would be far better.

      5. well it’s not like he do’s not know his powers are god lev it just he around others who are vary talented and power full witch made Makoto sees the extraordinary as “Ehh that normal” tho i have to say for the leaders there greedy as hell either “we will show him the past wise so he’ll say with us” or “we must have his power for are kingdom first” even the demon’s with”whens we show him that demon are beater nothing can stop us hahahaha” but all Makoto wants is to go to his home and shot his bow and try not to get drag in to the war ……and punch the “bug’s” face just one’s.

      6. @BigKahuna

Took me a little bit to realize you were asking about the Chinese novels.

The one that was least enjoyable was Peerless Martial God. The story is a continuous cycle of:

        1) main character gets more powerful
        2) Goes to a town where there are other powerful people
        3) Encounters a jerk who feels they have the right to do whatever they want because they’re strong
        4) Jerk tries to bully him, main retaliates by being just as bad or worse. (You insult me? I break your legs. You threaten to kill me? I cut off your arms and ruin your strength forever)
        5) Jerk complains about treatment and unfairness and justice
        6) Main gives long-winded speech about hypocrisy. “You did whatever you wanted because you’re strong. Well I’m stronger than you, so what right do you have to complain?”
        7) Spectating crowd applauds in awe of his brilliance.

It’s basically a circle-jerk of beating up bullies/jerks, lecturing them, and getting applause for it.

If there’s one thing I took away from that story, it is that characters who do whatever they want without consideration for lives or morals, are jerks. (See: Summoned Slaughterer). I’m sure there are people who enjoy those kinds of stories, and I think those are the people who are sick of waiting for Makoto to basically crush the hyumans, the demons, and Bug. (Which is why I suggest they read some Chinese novels. Or Arifureta.)

But I’m hoping this story never goes that way, because then Makoto ceases to be interesting. As Root puts it, its when characters act in ways I can’t predict that make them interesting.

    3. It doesn’t matter how much power he has tho remember the fight with lancer and Sophia he was getting his ass kicked because he couldn’t use his power properly so until he gets some more life and death battle exp He should just get his confidence up slowly >.>

      1. That was a fight where he was sneak attacked by the world’s strongest human and an ancient dragon together after being tossed into a random place by the insect… Not to mention his powers have only gone up exponentially since then.

Maybe if the humans and demons all gathered together with all the demihumans and dragons and launched a sneak attack at Makoto at the same time, then Makoto might get injured.

    4. We could say the same to billionaires.

Would you prefer an aggressive power-monger billionaire or a passive leave-me-alone billionaire?

    5. This entire story is shaping up to be a coming of age tale, with the transported OP main character as the backdrop. Obstacles are placed in Makoto’s path to force his growth. When something bad happens to our nobody of an MC, we all rage and he rages at his own ineptitude. We spend a few chapters on reflection and Makoto’s changes. Then a similar obstacle pops up again, and he easily surmounts the challenge. We’re all happy for him until he hits the next road block and the cycle repeats.

Makoto’s not going to discover the depths of his power any time soon because the moment he does, the story’s over. There’s no longer any obstacle he cannot simply crush through brute force, with the possible exception of the goddess. If this discovery happens prematurely then he’ll be no better than Gritonia’s hero, who showed up and rested on his laurels. Makoto’s growth might not be as smooth as the hero of Limia’s, but they’re both struggling in their own ways. That’s why they’re both in positive standing with the story.

I keep seeing comparisons between this story and Death March, and I’m not sure why. They’re two very different stories once you strip away the transported character backdrop. Death March is a straight power fantasy. Satou’s obstacles are there to show us all how strong he is. Every lady is there to tell us how desirable he is. His core harem shows us how he’s such a good person, and to demonstrate his power by proxy. We’re told how all of his friends and acquaintances have political power or unstoppable strength. His end game is to become a literal god so he can get in the pants of a smokin’ hot elf chick. Said elf chick wants him to have 1000 kids spread over at least 100 wives, and no one in story or out has questioned if he could pull it off. There’s nothing wrong with either story (and I read both), but if you go into one story looking for the other, you’re going to end up disappointed.

Unrelated but, “[could] make a demi-human country?” Oh silly Sairitz. You keep showing us how hyumans are always just a few steps behind.

      1. The comparisons with Death March come about because there are people who keep complaining about Makoto not fully exploiting his abilities, and then Death March is a natural thing to point to as “why don’t you read that?”

      2. Well said dude. I personally like this story more.

Death March is, primarily, a slice of life comedy with the premise of a normal fantasy story with ups and downs. This story is where the tension, attachment, and excitement is all at.

      3. Well, to me, they are of different genres with their own charms… I like death march for their laid back, enjoyable, fluffy story, while I like this story because I feel like Makoto’s character building is kinda realistic,, not all-wise from the start which is understandable and already outstanding for his age.

    1. The lines
      “The unification of the world.
The demon race that challenges the Goddess.”

      Should it be
      “The unification of the world…
by the demon challenging [against] the Goddess…”

      ?

  40. Huh.

Gotta give props to the author, he completely blindsided me with this development. I thought for sure we were going to learn about the demon’s collaborator.

Also, kudos to Rona. When she plans someone’s destruction, she goes all out.

  41. Poor Makoto. He has no idea just how terrifying he and his companions are in the eyes of the human world leaders. Now all he has to do is scare the hell out of the demon side, and then progress from there.

  42. I’m not generally a “kill ’em all” sorry of person. But for some reason, my instant reaction was “let the two capitals fall, and nuke the demon capital at the same time.” How’s that for redrawing the political situation? 😩

    Thanks for the chapter! 😃

    1. Haha, that’s sounds like something that Tomoe, Shiki and Mio would totally go for. The world shall belong to Waka-sama!
That said, the only way this WN will end up satisfying for me is if Makoto does end up uniting the humans, demi-humans and demons in order to defeat the Goddess *cough* insect *cough* and claim the world for Tsukuyomi-sama’s return. Or something like that. 😛

      1. That world is not Tsukuyomi’s, so he’s not going to return unless it’s to capture the Goddess. He’s not going to return for Makoto either because he already stated that Makoto would most likely have died of old age by the time that he woke up.

    2. “It’s not Makoto-dono’s relatives. Though one of them is pretty close to that. In the middle of transferring it was skillfully overlapped. Might be an acquaintance of yours. I am sorry it overlapped. It was also my negligence” (Tsuki)
For sure he is going to help Tsukuyomi told him that 1 of those is close to relative for him but maybe he is going to use the mask (for avoid they know who is him)

  43. 3r …well this one was pure luck i just checked if there was any new chapter and bom!

Thanks for the chapter and i guess u’m 4th or 5th now ?
