Chapter 106: The spider’s thread. Tomoe grieves.

I regretted it.

After only 5 minutes in, I already began regretting it a lot.

About the contents Root was talking and the explanation drawn out.

Because it was practically at an incomprehensible level already. Right now he is smoothly writing down a mathematical formula I can’t understand at all.

“That’s why, when people fall to this world, it is normally done in this manner…” (Root)

Root draws a circle on a part of what he wrote while continuing to explain on and on. Tomoe is p-probably still able to follow this. I want to believe that.

“And in the case when it synchronizes from A to D, the phenomenon called transfer happens between the worlds. In the cases where a God orchestrates this, there will first be a time division joint…” (Root)

Forever, it is truly continuing on for eternity. Now even the words I can understand are starting to become fuzzy. In the several parts like people, gods, and transfer; they probably still hold the same meaning that I know of.

“… And so, a discrepancy in the world’s times will be created and it will become extremely difficult. I think you already understand this part, but the time paradox created from the flow of time will originate an outbreak of energy, which is an incredibly important problem, but at the same time, the chances of this happening is low…” (Root)

I… What was I asking to begin with?

Uhm…

“And because of the stated reasons, the time passage of this world and the time passage of the original world of Makoto-kun are managed in a totally different manner. This is the reason why my first husband and Makoto-kun know about games and RPGs that have been recently introduced to your world, but…” (Root)

Root looks at me. I didn’t understand most of what he said, but I was able to stay conscious. Mission clear.

“So, in the case that I want to return to my original world, is there a chance of success?” (Makoto)

“… You, didn’t understand my explanation right?” (Root)

“The moment science and magic began mixing up, I wanted you to understand that there’s no way I could get it” (Makoto)

“Eh? Isn’t all this science talk? Ah, that’s right. Your original world doesn’t have the concept of magic in your science” (Root)

Concept of magic in science? It is such a contrary statement that I can’t even put my finger on it.

“Are there worlds where science is combined with magic?” (Makoto)

“Of course. Broadly speaking, this world also has magic and science mixed you know. But it has already been forgotten. In Makoto-kun’s world, just by being able to put out magic power from your body, you would be considered a psychic. In that case, things like warp, time streams, and also world dimensional navigation would be pretty difficult” (Root)

Instead of saying it is difficult, it is in the sci-fi reign already. I remember my physics teacher saying that warp needs an incredible amount of energy so it is impossible. Root also knows that kind of techniques? With magic you can move with teleport formations, so it is probably a part of his everyday life already. When I think about it calmly, it is pretty impressive stuff.

“Leaving aside magic and science for now… Tomoe probably understands, so I will have her resume it and explain it to me later” (Makoto)

“Waka, I honestly didn’t understand all” (Tomoe)

What?! Then there’s no way I can understand it. In the middle of it, I even though he was playing around with me.

“Should I explain it one more time, in an easier to understand way?” (Root)

“No, it will probably be the same. *I think the line I don’t understand is just several minutes late*. I can understand that it was incredibly advanced talk, so I would be happy if you were to answer my questions concisely” (Makoto) <Literal translation of this. わからなくなるラインが数分遅れるだけだと思う>

Well, he did say to listen to him till the end, but didn’t say I had to understand it, so there should be no danger of him attacking me, probably.

“… No helping it huh. Well, there’s only been two otherworldlers that have understood this talk after all. Okay. The question was if Makoto-kun can succeed in transferring to your previous world, right? The answer is: close to impossible” (Root)

So there were two. Even though it would probably take me an eternity to just understand 15 minutes or more of what he said.

“…”

Tomoe isn’t saying anything. So the answer to my question is: close to impossible, huh. That means, there’s a way.

“You are saying, there’s a method right?” (Makoto)

“N, it is a bit different. With Makoto-kun’s current magic power aggregate amount, transfer itself will practically succeed without doubt. The technique is child’s play, so just by studying it there’s no mistake. That I can guarantee” (Root)

Eh, isn’t he talking in a pretty positive way here? I have been doing archery frequently after all. I think my magic power has increased quite a bit. I still have problems with the amount I can use. I have been studying a decent amount in that aspect since I arrived at the academy though.

“Then why is it close to impossible?” (Makoto)

“To pinpoint the destination is crazy hard, moreover, there’s the high rate of randomness. Well, if you repeat the transfer a thousand times, you will probably be able to arrive at your original world. Just, there’s no way of knowing which time your original world will be in. The chances of returning to the Japan of your current era, optimistically thinking, is close to 1 in a billion” (Root)

“…”

“Is what I have been explaining to you since a while ago though. Well, if you go about increasing the number of times you can transfer in a single day while thoroughly putting in order the conditions, I think the success rate will be higher than what I mentioned. Regarding how much time it would take to get to that point, even I don’t know though” (Root)

The chances are not zero, but it is close to impossible. Is what he is trying to say huh.

“I see. In short, it is incredibly difficult. I have understood that it is not an objective I can pursue yet in my current state” (Makoto)

“Yeah. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to look around a bit more? I will make it so you can contact me anytime you want, so call me anytime you want a talking partner. If possible, when you are alone” (Root)

Today I learned that you can be both a genius and a pervert. I don’t think I will ever contact him(?) when I am alone.

Honestly, it would have been better to just think in an Urashima-way and ask him questions on my own. This tired me like crazy.

After Root’s words, a curtain of silence descends. Then in less than a few minutes, Root suddenly stood up.

“Well then, since I have already finished my greetings, I will be excusing myself tonight” (Root)

Tomoe sees Root out and leaves together with him from the room.

Ah, that’s right. If Shiki were here, it would have probably gotten through him. He is attached to the talks of world travelling after all.

It will be at a later time, but let’s have Tomoe tell Shiki what she understood of Root’s talk.

I cover the sleeping Mio with a blanket and silently leave the reception room.

Let’s think a bit in my room. About what I want to do.

Ah.

AAAAHHH?!

“Ring. That’s right, I didn’t ask about the thought transmission jamming! I was pretty surprised about the Guild talk after all. Hah…” (Makoto)

Did he give me the slip, or is it that I just didn’t ask him.

Damn it…

I still have a long way to go.

◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆

On the way back from the Kuzunoha Company to the Adventurer Guild, Root and Tomoe were walking in line.

“You guys are pretty interesting. It may be because it is a relationship between someone that hasn’t stood in a high position before and people that have never stood below anyone though. It is quite the amusing master and servant relationship. A master that even when exchanging a ruling pact, he still thinks of them as family. A servant that acts as an elder of sorts, trying to guide her master; a servant that blindly obeys her master; and one that had to go through the trouble of putting a pile below and stand on tiptoes to barely reach the condition of ruling. Fufufu, not a single one of those have been in a slave relationship before. It is truly strange… and interesting” (Root)

Root’s mouth continues to talk. But the warmth in his voice when talking to Makoto is not there and it is more of an indifferent tone.
While saying it is amusing, there was no fun mixed in his tone. It was just like telling his results of an investigation, cold words of an observer.

“…”

Tomoe doesn’t show any special reaction and just followed on Root’s steps.

“What? If you want to ask something, go ahead” (Root)

“… So you noticed” (Tomoe)

“Of course. I was even thinking about talking with Makoto-kun the whole night you know. But your gaze was so annoying that I left didn’t I? In the first place, what was that about not understanding anything? Tomoe, you understood all. If that weren’t the case, I wouldn’t have explained till the end” (Root)

“Right. There are a number of things that… I want to ask no matter what” (Tomoe)

Tomoe’s tone was heavy and hard.

“You said that people are liars and deceivers, and yet, you were lying to your master as well didn’t you? Well, we are both dragon acquaintances, go ahead and ask me” (Root)

“Otherworldlers, humans that have come from the world of origin. As expected, they die in a hundred years or so?” (Tomoe)

“… Yeah, they do. Actually, it is unusual that they live till the hundreds. They seem to get longevity from magic, but even with that, the most they can live normally is somewhere around two hundred years, maybe. More than that… I don’t recommend it” (Root)

The last words of Root had the color of anguish in it.

“I see. So short. Really… short” (Tomoe)

Tomoe whispers the word short several times. It looked like she was trying to permeate herself with the reality she can’t accept.

“There’s nothing we can do about that. I have met with more than 10 humans in my life and have parted with them, but there’s no choice but to get used to it. Every single one of them is charming in their own way, and when I have to part with them, it is truly painful though” (Root)

Root’s eyes look at the distance. Most likely reminiscing.

“Root, you are a very old acquaintance of mine so I will endure the embarrassment and ask this-ja… Is it hard to bear? When Makoto-sama dies, will the world I see return to the dull colored one?” (Tomoe)

“Yeah, no doubt. When I lost my first partner, I was engulfed with an overwhelming sense of loss. To the point that, for a while, I couldn’t see the value of the world I held so important” (Root)

“For the current me, Makoto-sama is my everything-ja. To lose the time I have with him, I just can’t picture it” (Tomoe)

“Right, I understand you. I also think he is splendid. I didn’t think you would make a pact with a person, but honestly, I am jealous” (Root)

“You, don’t understand it. Makoto-sama’s gonna get scared” (Tomoe)

“How awful. Even though I was agreeing with you. And in truth, Makoto-kun is nice. It may be a rude way of saying it but, he is a jackpot. It is the first time that three humans come at the same time here, so the world will change greatly” (Root)

Root’s voice turns slightly lively. It looked like he couldn’t contain his happiness at having the world change because of the humans’ arrival. From his wry smile, he did a complete change into a cheerful expression.

“Change huh. Root, how did you know of Makoto-sama? If you said jackpot, does that mean you checked the other heroes as well?” (Tomoe)

Each word of Tomoe was emitted as if confirming Root. She probably doesn’t know if the change of the world will be positive for her or if she should carefully take counter-measures for it. This is the first time she has lived along a human, and this is the most time she has been in society. She didn’t know if she could be like Root, who has experienced many turning points in his life and has just accepted them, living his life with enjoyment.

“I learned of him, or more like, about you guys when you registered in Tsige. The 4 digit level you both had that has never happened before. I soon discovered the existence of a third otherworldler. I confirmed the information and sealed it. That’s why, when the names of Tomoe and Mio leave Tsige, they remain anonymous. I am truly grateful for you two. Because thanks to that, I was able to learn of Makoto-kun’s existence. It is okay to consider the information sealing as my gratitude. Not a human and yet, human; doesn’t have talent, and yet, surpasses talent; doesn’t worry when killing someone, and yet, when his family is hurt, his heart will suffer. Terribly opaque, vague, his thought patterns and decision making is that of a commoner; and yet, he is walking a completely different path from a commoner. There’s no otherworldler who I have felt so much interest in watching his progress at his side. It really… arouses me” (Root)

“Root, why are you so into Makoto-sama? I don’t think it is just because he is an otherworldler though…” (Tomoe)

“It may be a repeat of what you said but, otherworldlers die in about a hundred years. But you see, listen closely okay? We are unable to make babies with hyumans, however, if it is a human, we can” (Root)

“?!”

“True, they do die. But they are able to leave the crystallization of their emotions in our bodies” (Root)

“No way. We live as individuals. In other words, we are separated from the world. No matter if you say they are humans, to be able to make children is just…” (Tomoe)

Tomoe’s words tremble in confusion.

“We can actually do it. I haven’t had a woman bear my child, but having a child with a male, I have. That’s why, I want to be loved by Makoto-kun as a male and female, and I want to love him in return. I want to live beside a human that is so interesting. It is to the point I even want a pact. Well, I do have the public image of a guild master, so I can’t stick to him all the time though” (Root)

“I… met the Empire’s hero. That thing also possessed excelling power you know?” (Tomoe)

“Ah, him huh. He is not bad either. In terms of how interesting they are, it would be: Makoto-kun, Empire, and Kingdom; in that order. In terms of danger it would be the same. The eyes of the Goddess to find heroes is as one would expect. Kingdom, Empire, Makoto-kun. She isn’t a god for nothing. Well, the empire’s hero probably won’t live long. He is completely entranced to his own position of being a hero, or more like, drunk at his own position as a special being. For the sake of protecting that, he would easily sacrifice anything. Counting himself. In reverse, the Kingdom’s hero has everything hidden inside her. To the point that it is not even interesting. That… will probably rule over the hyumans in a future. Naturally gathering people around her, naturally utilizing people; in that sense, she surpasses the millions. Truly a history engraving hero. I can predict the movements of those two to a certain extent you see. And regarding that, I don’t know what Makoto-kun will get into next, so it is pretty appealing” (Root)

Root gives a brief review of the two heroes. He indifferently talked about them, and there was no passion like the time he was talking with Makoto. What Root looks for in an otherworldler is unexpectedness and amusement, this attitude is proof of that. That he didn’t show himself to the one with properties of a ruler and the one that doesn’t flinch to sacrifice someone, but to Makoto-kun, supports that truth more.

“About the other kids, I have no other choice but to believe you, however, I see, because you can’t predict what will happen next huh… Hey, those two wish to return to their previous world? Just like how Makoto-sama wishes in a part of his heart. Do otherworldlers really… want to return?” (Tomoe)

“So next is that huh. As expected, everyone thinks the same way. The answer is no. From the otherworldlers I have met, only 3 actually tried to do it. 1 in every 3, is how I would divide it” (Root)

“1 in 3 huh. Not everyone right?” (Tomoe)

“By the way, the current two heroes don’t wish to return. The Limia hero has been in low spirits recently, but it seems that she got over it already. Seems like she has disposed of the few articles she had of her previous world. She has probably prepared herself to leave her mark in this world. The otherworldlers that think about returning in the beginning, by the time they get more deeply connected to this side, they normally continue their lives here. It is probably the ability to adapt that humans possess by nature. Ah, from the 3 that wanted to return, I don’t know if any of them was actually able to return. Just like I told Makoto-kun, in that group there were 2 that were able to understand what I said, so parting with them was regrettable” (Root)

“What do you think Makoto-sama will do? Being told about the possibility by you, do you think he will begin moving in order to return?” (Tomoe)

“If what I predict is correct, he… will probably not return. Just that, I still don’t much about him yet. Bluntly speaking, I don’t understand him. But instead of an adventure that follows a spider’s thread, I prefer the soft people like you guys” (Root)

“I also think that way. That softness is his strength and also his weak point. But, I don’t want him to lose that. It is not because I don’t want to resign myself to a ruling relationship, but simply because I want Makoto-sama to remain as he is” (Tomoe)

“What, so you do understand. Then you should be a bit kinder to Makoto-kun. Always showing your back that can do all things, isn’t that harsh for the current him? He has his own pace. Within the otherworldlers I have seen until now, he is quite the abnormal one. Especially that mind. At this rate, he will probably bring that magic power which surpasses Gods to his grave, but with just one trigger, it can flip everything” (Root)

Just a bit before reaching the Adventurer Guild. At that place, Root stops his feet and looks straight at Tomoe. In there, there was hope, grief and fear. A deep and complex light that mixed all those.

“Trigger?” (Tomoe)

“That’s right. Right now he is bound. Counting the softness that you pointed out not too long ago as well. But on top of that, he is still in his self who lived in the original world. The other two heroes have already separated the original world and their current world and have begun determining their own path. Well, it is not restricted to differentiating. With some sort of trigger, there’s the chance he will understand the importance of his own power. That magic power, that strength. Depending on the trigger, he might hold the key for a third choice. A choice that differs from if he will return or not that you are worrying about” (Root)

“Are you saying there’s a possibility other than return or not returning?” (Tomoe)

“Come and go. Being able to actually travel between worlds, in other words, a superhuman type of existence. The current Makoto-kun has enough magic power even for creation. And I wonder what kind of “trigger” will awaken it. I am looking forward to it. Just, it is better to not hurry his growth. I don’t know what method you used to stimulate it but, that amount of magic power increase is abnormal. Even from my eyes. If he pushes himself at that pace, there’s the chance that he might break. If that happens, I will be stepping in got it? The way to increase magic power capacity is information that hyumans would go crazy for, but I won’t forgive anyone that uses him as an experimental subject, uses him in such a boring way. Well then, see you again in a near future” (Root)

“… Trigger, huh. If I can avoid a future where Waka simply returns to his world, I…” (Tomoe)

Tomoe realizes that she has totally gotten dependent on the time together with Makoto. Strictly speaking, it wasn’t only to him. It was to Makoto, Mio, Shiki, the world of Asora, and their residents. Since the time she made a pact with him, Tomoe has left behind her body. It is a dependence to this comfortable time.

No matter what she does, it is fun. She is able to engross herself into a single thing. Everything was as Root said. The density of every single day is totally different. Tomoe didn’t want to think that this present will finish in just a hundred years like a festival. No, if it were a festival it would be better. If you wait, it would return again. But the time she passed with Makoto will never return. A once in a lifetime happening.

The more fun it gets, the more she fears of losing it. She never shows it outside, but that’s Tomoe’s anxiety. That one in a lifetime supreme bliss, if she were to make a child with Makoto, there’s a chance of prolonging it. Root seemed to be wishing it, but Tomoe’s wish seemed to be a bit different. Root has his own way of thinking, and she decided to not think too deeply on his words.

In truth, if Makoto truly desires to return and asks for Tomoe’s help, no matter if it is a ruling pact, she would still try to grant it for him. Her feelings of wanting to be of use for him are also her true feelings after all.

Now, the supreme dragon Root has pointed out a new choice. That is… a way for Makoto to stay as Makoto, and while granting his wish it will also grant Tomoe’s wish.

Trigger.

That one word resounds countless times in Tomoe’s heart as she returns.

“… Tomoe-san”

In the late night’s street, in the street where not a single resident can be seen, Tomoe reacts to that voice that came from herself and stops her feet.

“?!”

“Did you see off that pervert-desu no?”

“… Yeah, that’s right-ja. Mio, what’s with that appearance? Having a blanket wrapped around you. Don’t tell me you really walked all the way here looking like that” (Tomoe)

“Yeah. Something wrong with that?” (Mio)

“Even if it’s night, I can’t say I admire that. We won’t be staying in this town long so I don’t care, but there will be strange rumors flowing about Waka you know?” (Tomoe)

“… It is fine to just promptly make the people that have seen it to forget-desu wa” (Mio)

For a bit, Mio considered the words of Tomoe about troubling Makoto, but in the end, she decided to stay wrapped and somehow deal with the witnesses. In the depressed face of Tomoe, a small smile returns.

“What a troubling fellow you are-ja no, fufu” (Tomoe)

“The same goes for you-desu wa” (Mio)

“N?” (Tomoe)

“Tomoe-san, even if it is you, if you lose your mind and try to do something to Waka-sama, I…” (Mio)

From the two footsteps, one stops. The feet of Mio that have been following Tomoe from a few ways back, have stopped.

“There’s no way that will happen. But maybe, if I truly were to lose my mind, please smack me and try to return me to my senses. I don’t mind if you are rough” (Tomoe)

“I will not hold back” (Mio)

“Got it. Hey, Mio… thanks” (Tomoe)

“…”

Without turning back, words of gratitude come out from her mouth. And then, an answer of silence. But the will of the two probably transmitted in some sort of way.

Until Tomoe and Mio returned, there were no more words exchanged between the two.

  1. This continues to improve. Often light novels feel like they just throw tropes at a trashcan until the novel is done. At this moment, the author is exploring a bit of the human condition through the lens of immortality and emotional attachment.

  2. MC Having a short lifespan doesn’t make sense. He’s not even a Hero and his Origins are still mysterious, he’s clearly not human or hyuman since his parents were born here. Maybe a Demi-Human.

Tomoe wants him to break the trigger and become like her.
GuildMaster is just satisfied having his offspring after experiencing many goodbyes.

MC is really naive not realizing he can become experimental material… It’s not a bad thing to be soft but being slow and carefree… is not good.

I think at this Rate MC will make a breakthrough, since the beginning he’s always been treated as a anomaly. No demon, no human, no god. Author is weird in this part considering he has subordinates of exiled races.

  3. well everything will come to an end and we need to accept that even if we dont like its how the world the universe work even death will die in the end of it 200 years is already good

  4. This is very “Wolf and Spice”.
But the difference is that here – there is magick in play.
For humans it may be just 200 years with the help of magic… For humans… He may have stated that he is pretty attached to his humanity but, the feeling i get from the MC is that, between holding onto the (really quite useless) humanity and making his dragon-wife cry her soul out (or making his spider-wife do something stupid to herself, or to a lot of other people… probably both), and ditching the humanity to stay with them and make them happy – he will choose the second one.
And that is assuming he will not become a new god of this world… or a new god of the separate world of his own… he already has one, might as well become a god.

  5. Agreed. Plus, being immortal, or at least ageless, would bring him bbn one step closer to being a true god. Perhaps Shiki will figure out something, or maybe Misumi will advance his magic to the point of being able to perfectly recreate a younger body for him to inhabit. Like a rebirth, similar to what supreme dragons experience.

  6. I’m praying for the mc become immortal in a future ahead because I do not want to see a happy ending knowing that he soon will die

  7. “She isn’t a god for nothing.”
I read “she isn’t a good for nothing but since it was very strange i had to re-read.
I’m glad it was a misunderstanding

  8. Root is the wisest character i have seen. Just by looking someone, she can tell his character, his potential, his future. It comes from her age of lving that long.

  9. Yeah, that’s why I hate relationships that are between a long lived party and a short lived party, and that’s the same reason why I’m not reading [The Elf Is a Freeloader], I read the other related novel [My Pet Is a Holymaiden] and knew that the man dies while the Elf gets to stay alive.
It makes me sad, that one has to experience that kind of pain, it’s really unpleasant, if you have a weak heart you most probably will get broken because of the unimaginable pain. Of course, this is only if you love the other party from the bottom of your heart.

  10. umm….. but makato is a hyman right he was just living in the other world because of the promise made to the goddess by his parents… right????

    1. And I think that being in another world (Earth) makes you a human. Or at least that’s how I understood what was told by Tomoe to Shiki when he was a Lich.

    2. his parent both are hyuman but after being born in earth prime his body is in some kind of mutation that become like now

    3. Yeah, Makoto is 100% hyuman but he has ‘trained’ in the origin world and has gained the prowress of a human.

      1. No, didn’t Tsuki-bro say that Makoto is some kind of mutant between Hyuman & Human? That he was born in the time where his parents started adapting to Earth? So he’s considered a demi-Human right now

      2. Isn’t he an abnormal hyuman? An omega level mutant hyuman yes, but nonetheless a hyuman. Although maybe he has human ancestors….. his parents were nobilty and is common for nobilty to breed with heroes to strengthen their offspring…. so…. perhaps Tsukuyomi was talking about how he have somewhat evolved from hyuman standards.

In that sense Makoto is what Haruka could have been under other circumstances. Although different than Haruka’s blessed nature, Makoto’s strength comes from the result of his bad luck and stubbornness’ eternal conflict, such bad luck to make anyone curse destiny and such stubbornness to twist that destiny.

    4. I’m guessing its based on the environment they lived in that defines hyuman from human, and what gods reside over them.

      1. Makoto is a hyuman, physically and effectively. He grew in the original world thus he gained the specs of a human so probably both definitions can apply.

  11. No matter how I look at it, this situation here is the paradox of long life isn’t it. Being able to live a far longer and experienced life than others, yet the family and friends who make it meaningful appear and disappear over and over again. It’s always sad.

  12. I want to hear Mio’s reaction or did she hear it about the talk of Tomoe and Root?, we got to somehow know what Tomoe feels about it, I want to know how would the yandere Mio feel

  13. Immortality is not a curse, seeing most of your love one dies is something you will have to deal with even if you’re not an immortal.

  14. I don’t think that either Tomoe or Root can have a baby with Makoto, after all he is still hyuman. Maybe he was born and raised as a human but he can’t change his entire DNA

    1. That’s why i am a bit worried about it as well, since i don’t want to see a NTR situation with Tomoe and Tomoki, because of this baby issue.

Since the way ‘Devil Eye’ of Tomoki was shown to be getting stronger in one of the later chapters, it would be better to consider the possibility of it eventually allowing him to even influence stronger beings like Tomoe in the future, if things keep going like that. And if that ends up happening and knowing Tomoki’s nature, it could become a possible outcome, which can’t be ignored.

Root is safe because of his male form, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t target Tomoki, once he figure out things. As for Mio, i doubt she would end in a NTR situation, because of her promise to Tomoe in this chapter and Mio is most likely more immune to those kind of things (like the ‘Devil Eye’) because of her origin.

  15. They way they’ve been talking the last few arcs about levels, it seems they rise the more you kill and only if those killed have the same amount of power you do. But it only changes your base stats and not your ability and skill which can only be raised by training. I guess that would explain why Makoto hasn’t risen from level 1. While he has done various types of trainings and practices, which naturally increased his power, he hasn’the really killed much. The ones he did wind up kill probably didn’t even amount to the 1/1000th of his power that has been continually increasing because of his constant training and practice. Though if wiping out groups of the strongest monsters in the wasteland and then wiping out majority of hyuman and demon armies together doesn’t amount to a level increase, Makoto has become way too op way too fast.

  16. “There’s no way that will happen. But maybe, if I truly were to lose my mind, please smack me and try to return me to my senses. I don’t mind if you are rough” (Tomoe)

Sounds like a flag, maybe she (or mio) will be mind controlled later lol

  17. All of this talk of time distortions is giving the feeling that Makoto’s Priestess mom, is Princess Lily’s mom, eloping with Makoto’s Noble dad to another world and the “Nap” is merely the period of exhaustion the goddess received like Tsukuyomi has when sending them away with the price of their child. The issue of the “10 years” in this world to Makoto’s age, becomes moot when world travel also entails time travel.

  18. Wait i thought that makoto is a hyuman since his parents originates from his current world and not from earth? Is it influenced by the god that blesses their world?

  19. I forget how long ago in chapters it was now, but it was mentioned that the environment of earth is what made humans superior to hyumans… therefore, since he was born and raised on earth, the environment thereby affected his growth, despite the fact that his parentage is that of hyumans.

  20. This is child’s play…
    1-) keep shooting arrows.
    2-) Become a God… thus, immortal(First problem solved).
3-) With immortality and all the time in the world, train to control that power.
4-) USe all that power to be able to go back and fourth between worlds(Second problem solved).
    Too easy 😀

  21. Making a wild-ass guess that the two otherworlders who understood Root’s explanation are Makoto’s parents 😀

  22. Every thing , what I say are my own thoughts , which are based on Reigokai-dono’s translated chapters(and side stories and POV chapters from other translator-san) from not any other sources .
And I don’t read machine translations or raws with help of Google-sensei(which are a sour in the ass , the raws give me a lot of headache and spoil my English language comprehension , with google translator ) .

So , I will learn Japanese language (even though it will take a long time )

    lol , xd :p

  23. If it’s a POV of Tomoe, Mio, Shiki, Hibiki, Trash or Villager A to Z, the story and talk seems to be progressing. If it’s with MC alone it tends to circle around without accomplishing anything, unless MC is accompanied by a sub-/side-character.

Also, Root. It’s because the person himself is simply clueless(until now) on what he should be doing that he is unpredictable. He’s not Sparrow, and my gawd he’s not even Gibbs.

Unlike the two Heroes that has a clear and set goal in mind, that they become predictable.

    Thanks for the chapter~

(the first part was so ridiculously pointless that it took me until today from yesterday.)

  24. Well, I understand you Tomoe, the fun should never end ! I’m totally waiting for you to find that damn trigger ! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH !
But, I’ve got a question ! MC is still wearing his power absorbing clothes, then how did that Snake, (Root), found about his power ?
    Thanks for the chapter !

  25. And who the hell is calling Makoto’s magic power as moon god’s magic power or given by him (too tired to type his name aka the moon god).
The moon god only gave Makoto something , which might be sekai and not his magic power , the moon god used up most of his magic power to travel through the world And pinpoint Makoto’s location while Makoto was falling from the sky.
So , read the whole novel from the start , Lol

    1. Sakai is Makoto’s original. While the power he got from Tsukiyomi is a “God’s” power, a divinity. It’s different from the Goddess who gave the two heroes “blessings” of power/magic.

the thing Tsukiyomi gave Makoto was the/a Moon God’s ability which is still unknown, iirc, as Makoto have said. It was literally a God’s divinity. Basicaly, being an unknown form, even Tsuki was unsure what form it will shape in Makoto’s hands as he explained.

Also, what Tsuki used to track and go to Makoto is, everything, what is “left” from his power, this is aftr he shared it with Makoto, making him fall to a deep slumber afterwards.

Why did you think it was in Makoto’s constitution to handle magic ppwer that can surpass God’s. If you yhink about it then every otherworlder would turn Gods in the long run. Which is impossible.

Transported Humans only possess higher physical and magic capabilities compared to Hyumans and the inhabitant of the Goddess’ world. It was stated that Makoto is different, abnormal even, because of, possibly, Tsuki’s unknown divinity taking shape and effect without anyone knowing. And it happens whenever Makoto expels his consciousness, mind, magic or wtv., to the extremes.

      1. Thanks for the answer and clarity ;

yeah buddy you might be right on the mark about some of the thing’s here.

But , I have a few questions , so would you mind sharing some of your thoughts about them with me .

First , If Sakai is really an original ability of Makoto , then it is too too awesome , for a human as well as a hyuman (If at all Makoto is one of them) , I think it is toooooo awesome because , the other two Hero’s didn’t have a single ability of there own(gained abilities from the buggess) and only have very strong physical constitution and huge reserves of magic power (similar to Makoto’s physical capabilty , due to the earth’s environment but limitless difference in there Magic capability , Makoto has ridiculous amount , xd)

        Q.1 ) So , the question is how can we explain Sakai (Realm) ;

If the speculation about Sakai being Makoto’s ability is right , then I think it might had been inherited from his Mother(who was a high priestess , when she was in this world , her’s being a very very weak version and Makoto’s being a very strong strong version due to magic power difference)
I want others opinions , xd

Q.2 ) so , what did Makoto inherited from his father actually (Makoto did not get his good looks , Makoto did not get his ability of a warrior or the ability to adopt any weapon as his own , if you know what I am talking about , Makoto’s father is a high ranking noble right , who has a very high position(maybe he was the commanding officer or general of the army of that country or a crown prince , lol ) )
So, what did Makoto inherited from him , lol

Q.3 ) so , why did Tsukiyomi-san gave Makoto his divinity or god’s power , whatever it may be ; even though Tsukiyomi perfectly know that granting divinity/god’s power to a mere human is against the celestial laws and giving somebody divinity means that the respective god is allowing the way to attain godhood for a person or making the fun of other gods in some way or other(might be)

You know for even gods granting divinity is not at all easy and is close to impossible(in some stories or novel , gods might try to ascend some person to godhood by some means ) and attaining divinity depends upon the one persons own ability and hardwork (in some mythologies , you can loose your divinity but for attaining it back is quite difficult and if a mere human want to attain divinity , then he must go into a deep slumber of sleep known as TAPSYA for thousands of years like in Indian myth’s)

Still , if we consider the power , which Tsukiyomi gave to Makoto as just the power of the Moon(Moon god’s power to control moon and the stuff related to moon like nights , lunar eclipse , phases of the moon , sea levels , moon prison (lol if it exits in some myths or some stories or novels) etc
Rather than Tsukiyomi’s divinity then it is understand able .

And for a gift as for a compensation of Makoto’s life on earth and Makoto’s sacrifice for the magic world (to do some chores or save the magic world) to grant divinity or giving some awesome God’s power (which is undefinable ) is purely quiet ridiculous to me , xd

Q.4 ) so why does Makoto have a huge amount of magic power is because of the rebirth and dying cycle (which Makoto do for his bow training on extreme concentration) , and because he might be something else , which we didn’t knew yet .

Nevertheless , Makoto is not like all the other worlders who came to that magic world , so for the F’s sake , I am not saying every other world people will attain god hood for a long run but Makoto may will attain it one day
        And
He will attain godhood and have a huge amount of magic power(which surpasses the gods ) not because of Tsukiyomi but because
MAKOTO is an existence , who can even BEND something ———-(I will not tell anybody , what it is , because i already spoke to much) which even gods cannot BEND
Except the creator God himself , xd

If anybody have any opinions or speculations or theories , please share it .

      2. from my understanding the power Tsukiyomi gave Makoto is Sekai. which is essentially a sphere of influence which allows Makoto to change the properties of area around him.
Tsukiyomi is one of the more powerful gods in Japanese mythology being the sibling of 2 of the most famous and powerful gods in Japan. The power he gave doesnt necessarily have to do with the moon, since he is stronger than BUG goddess; despite being a moon god and her a creation god. The power doesnt have to be directly related to the moon, it could be influenced by the individual, Sekai can easily be an extension of Makoto’s Archery power leveling. Another way of looking at it is Makoto’s extending his soul outside of his body and back(the reason why his power is exponentially growing) when he does archery is similar to his Sekai extending around his body. Although Tsukiyomi gave him power, it doesnt mean it was the same as the Bugodess’ blessing or divinity, in fact I’m sure it isnt divinity and just individualized super power(Sekai).(Tsukiyomi probably doesnt even know how his power would have manifested)
The only thing Bug goddess gave Makoto was a curse(different from blessing) If we take her words literally, Makoto was cursed with the ability to understand all languages except the common language and possibly (just my speculation) infertility with other hyumens and fertility to anything other than hyumens. (her exact words were dont dirty hyumens with his seed, so go talk to the disgusting non humans).
This ability to understand most languages is one of the reasons he can use all magic.(he can read and understand the magic language) The other reason is his contracts giving him affinity to the elements. water, wind(Tomoe), darkness (Mio), Healing (Shiki), and Fire (his natural affinity).
As another worlder, He has better physique. physically stronger, more durable, more endurance because of the harsher conditions of earth(no magic to act as a crutch)
Another advantage he has to other humans is that he is technically (genetically) hyuman, which means he has a natural affinity to the magic of this world. A fish in the water, a bird in the sky, a lion in the savanna, a deer in the grasslands.
He is human(born and raised on earth), and not human(hyuman). He has the best of both worlds plus Buggoddess curse, and A even stronger god’s blessing?gift?(probably not divinity?)

      3. Well that is some long… long wall of text you got there. I actually regret looking back at a chapter. Not to mention, im only using phone to read novels.

Anyway, since you seem to have read ahead i can’t make sense why im being asked still since im reading as it gets translated but well, ill try.

        1) I can’t really consider Sakai as Makoto’s ability. I don’t remember him having possessed such ability. He only created Sakai after Ema thought him how to manifest magic, his Brid. Makoto said in the cave that he can picture the form easier, due to him being from Earth, making it easier for him to mold the brid into his liking. And, iirc, it was not far from then that he managed to create the earlier version of Sakai by sensing the surroundings before he knocked an arrow at Shen’s gate(though i may be wrong on the time and place). And fron then developed his Sakai even more, using his imagination that came from another world. Makoto mentioned that Ema and the residents are unable to think outside of the worlds common sense whereas Makoto has knowledge of Earth that had a more evolved, refined and creative way to innovate things. Add to that, the various novels or stuff he have claimed to have read.

        2) I have no clue what he inherited from him nor do i want to get spoiled if ever there is, are.

        3) I think it’d be easier for you to re read the first few chapters for that. I don’t know if there’s a deeper meaning to it but what was currently known from the tled chapters is that Tsuki has taken a liking to him and as a way to apologize. Besides, Makoto isn’t going to ascend to godhood. Tsuki only “lent” him his power not gave it to him. He’ll probably regain it when Makoto dies, soon, or when Tsuki wakes up and decides to take it back. Also, unlike Tomoe who isn’t a God, Tsuki told Makoto they wouldn’t be meeting again when he wakes up because it will be for hundred or so years so I doubt lending his power to Makoto will bring him to godhood and become immortal or sth.

        4) already said this, and i think you understood it as well. So it does becoms repetitive. But well, like i said it may have sth to do with the power he received from Tsuki. I don’t know what it is but i assume it is taking effect whenever he expels his mind and expend most of his aggregate power/magic as shown by his practice archery in Asora and his skirmish with Lancer and whatshername. Im assuming it has an effect of like a bottomless container where he can inhale twice the amount he exhales and still won’t fill. Or until it stores power equivalent to a God’s or at least on par with Tsuki’s. At least that’s what I assume is one of it’s effects. Not to mention, he seems to be using a diiferent magic reservoir from Bug’s world. It was mentioned before Makoto’s ring exploded on Lancer and co.’s when the woman with Lancer was baffled because she coulfn’t feel the water spirit despite using a water attack.

Also, the other 2 heroes are full-fledged humans. We, I, don’t know if his parents are both Hyumas or one of them is a transported person that managed to blend with that world and married a Hyuman but, the difference is clear between Makoto and the other two. Also, he mastered a weapon, the bow. He said he has no afginity with others but that, iirc.

If he has a body of a Hyuman, or half, it means he and his sisters already have affinity to, inherent, magic since birth compared to Tomoki and Hibiki. Makoto and his sisters just wasn’t aware of it. It was also mentioned by Tsuki that Earth is in Hell difficulty/mode for Hyumans, so when they go to the Goddess’ world their body will feel light and more durable than it’ inhabitant. That already is an advantage he possessed over the two heroes.

At the end of the day, it’s all my assumptions compared to those reading ahead.

Anyway, i think that’s all. I won’t be going to this chapter anymore unless I start rereading the whole tled chapters.

  26. Tomoe is the best girl and Mio is an awesome companion to Makoto.
I wish that , this novel ends in a happy ending , such that Tomoe gets what she needs , Mio gets what she needs, Makoto gets what he needs .

I really really don’t want Tomoe to end up like that pervert dragon , though his|her character sketch improved in my mind .

  27. And it really irritates me how some people doesn’t understand the deep meaning behind what Tomoe is feeling right now .
We all are well aware of ourselves of the fact that how mortal or limited our life is on this planet , compared to this vast world , still we wish to be loved by someone , we don’t want to be left alone , and want many friend who could share with us .

Is it too stupid for a long long lived dragon , whose world is nothing but black en white 2-d picture to get a colorful 3-d picture and to expect something from the one person , she is in deeplove & admires.

  28. ” Not a human and yet , human ; doesn’t have talent , and yet, surpasses talent ; doesn’t worry when killing someone , and yet , when his family is hurt , his heart will suffer . Terribly opaque, vague , his thought patterns and decision making is that of a commoner ; and yet , he is walking a completely different path from a commoner . There’s no otherworldler who I have felt so much interest in watching his progress at his side . ” (Root)

It is these words of Root said , that indicates that Makoto is an existence , who the great great dragon Root cannot define , I think Makoto is a being(a celestial being , maybe or Above a celestial being) , who is way above the hyumans as well as humans .
And also The dragon Root said that Makoto’s magic power had already surpassed than most of the gods in this same chapter (so , definitely there is a way for him to live besides Tomoe , Mio and co.)

Thank you very very very much translator – dono , I really love this chapter , so much that it triggered my wild imagination.

  29. I learned of him, or more like, about you guys when you registered in Tsige.

Fuuccckkk you guys , why could not you all understand such a simple thing

Makoto is not a human yet a human
You should by that statement that he is a transcendental being , who is not restricted by laws of the universes(multiple worlds , if exists)

  30. gods punishment is immortality seen the one you love pas away is the hardes thing that can happen to you

    1. In this case, the gods didn’t bestow immortality upon these immortals, though, as they were around before that goddess “created” the world (i.e. … made it much more hospitable) to begin with …

  31. “If I were to truly lose my mind”… That’s some extreme foreshadowing you got there…

  32. But still I can’t grasp where Root’s deep understanding of Makoto stems from? Okay, he knew of Makoto’s existence through guild but other than that he knows way too many things making me wonder if he’ve also read his mind. But then still, he doesn’t know of Asora, bow practice etc. making it even more confusing… Anyway, thanks for the chapter and thumbs up for a creation God-able-to-teleport route! I still eagerly await the tea time with Tsukuyomi-sama!!!💜

    1. My guess is that – after he got to know about Makoto and the other two otherwordlers – he simply did everything in his power to observe and research them … it’s not like Root has much else to do, anyway.

    2. If it’s his daily life then, it can easily come from different mouths entering the guild. It’s not that difficult. In addition, Root is the GM so he has webs scatterred everywhere. It is solidified by the fact that Root isn’t aware of those things you said, it is limied outside Asora.

Next, Makoto’s original world. It was mentioned that Root has been with 10 humans already so he learned it fron them, culture and everything possible to learn. Even the science stuff since Root mentioned two humans able to hold discussion with him/her. Im assuming the two are something like Nye, Hawking, Tyson or Cooper.

      1. One of Root’s comments mentioned something about about the current status of the Goddess, something that is touched on in the side chapters and means that He has access to at the very least spy into her relm

      2. Why is there no replybutton on your post.. well nvm.

About that, i thought the Goddess and root were just chummy once upon a time. Though i doubt it will ever be discussed in this novel in the future.

    1. Side material and this chapter has strongly implI’d he is on the verge of not only becoming a God but becoming a God of creation if he hasn’t already with his pocket world . pretty much his life, span is going to end up as long as Mio and Tomoe . Especially once you find out what his real ablities is.

      1. That will only happen if Makoto grows any balls. And throw his earthly common sense away to adapt. Otherwise, I doubt he’ll be aiming for godhood unlike a certain insect. While the two heroes seems to have set their hearts.

  33. Ty for the chapter^^
Well from this chapter the new path would be a death flag in the last chapter, a betray of tomoe(most likely go against her master will and a fight with mio) and root fooling around to the mc in next chapter

  34. Thanks for the chapter!
If anyone is confused by Root’s explanation of time-space transport it might be summed up as: Energy opens a hole to another world. Because of the process, it’s difficulty to land in a specific time and place. The two worlds’ time flows differently. Gods can control this process better for whatever reason. We don’t know if time travel is possible with this process, but I’d guess it is since Root mentions it being possible to return to Makoto’s original time.

    1. If Gods can control what timeline they can land in, then why didn’t the Goddess send the heroes from before she took a nap? it could have prevented things going haywire in her absence.

I think the three of them being sent not too far apart is due to just luck.

      1. That’s a good question. It might have something to do with the limits of a god’s power, or rules about interference and changing events that have already come to pass.

  35. Is it just me or is the story telling getting better? Is this because of the TL or the author? Thanks a lot.

    1. there should be a continuation of the heavy atmosphere imo, like, at least 10 chapters consecutively for a large dark and brooding arc. depression arc or something.

  36. And so the one I called ‘Lute’, here called ‘Root’, exits the frame for now. Wheey. Thanks for translating (I was reading raws for a while when I didn’t have another WN to read… It’s nightmare material looking through the machine… But thankfully I found another WN and can enjoy this as a translation)

    1. I figured there’d be more to him than just that. Although I didn’t think he’d be playing up the perverted fool like that. He probably is attracted to Makoto, but he went and took it over the top to see his reaction and tease him.

  37. so they can’t have child with hyuman, but can be with human

I see soon it will be 18+ LN :v

and now we can see, Mio’s Loyalty is above any of them 😀

    1. I thought makoto was a hyuman too.

His parents are. I mean he is an ugly hyuman but a hyuman nonetheless no?

      1. Well … wasn’t it speculated by Makoto himself early one that his mother might’ve had a relationship with some other man … when considering her high position in her old world as well as the fact that polygamy and such was perfectly ok back there then I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually was Half-Hyuman to begin with.

    2. And Mio should be the only one who really needs Makoto to stay in that world … because otherwise, who knows when she referts back to her eternally mindless self consumed by endless starvation. So she should also be the first one to look for a way to make Makoto immortal ASAP … though on that note, Makoto might’ve already become partial immortal … even if not for his god-like magic power so at least for the fact that he should’ve obtained Mio’s regenerative capabilities to some degree (although I’m not sure if he’s already able to use them) that might enable him to repair age related damage to his body, thereby granting him biological immortality (as well as the capability to shrug off injuries).

    1. I know Shiki had mana or whatever, but are we completely sure Makoto will keep his BS mana pool? also, that’s the same as killing Makoto….no….it is, remember how Shiki was happy to have a body again. anyway, I hope this story picks up the pace a little with the school arc and meeting one of the hero’s arcs.

  38. I’m kinda getting pissed at people saying things about not liking the dragons because they have a mentality of “this person seems interesting, lets stick with them to see what happens”. If irc, some people were saying that Tomoe didn’t have true feelings for Makoto because that’s how she viewed him. I would like to spell out that they are immortals who have lived for millions of years! This chapter said that Tomoe’s world was dull and lifeless until Makoto came into it. This is the only way for any kind of impression to make an impact on beings that old. And correct me if I’m wrong (it’s been awhile since I’ve had a date) but I’m fairly certain that “this person is interesting! let’s get to know them to see what else happens” is the most common first impression that leads to dating. Not all of us can fall in love at first fucking sight. And if people dislike Root because of the personality he showed Tomoe on their walk to the adventurers’ guild, guess what? That’s what someone who’s been alive for a long time, and spent the past thousand years working on a pet project to ignore the pain of all their friends and lovers that they’ve watched grow old and die without them sound like. I know people might dislike them for other reasons, but that seems to be the only reason I see people giving for not liking Tomoe.

    1. I can somewhat understand it, as “this person is interesting! let’s get to know them to see what else happens” for immortals can be seen as just a way for them to relieve their boredom. Well, I say somewhat as at this point we can say that Tomoe’s feelings are genuine as she really wants to be with Makoto. And, well, tbh during the early chapters I also didn’t like Tomoe that much as I got a feeling that she got into a pact to relieve that boredom, it didn’t help that she just did what she wanted and brought some trouble to Makoto during the earlier chapters. But as the series went on we got to learn more of her personality and feelings.

As the others have said, the walk to the adventurer’s guild gave more light to Root’s character and I’m really glad for that (I found him kinda annoying and needed someone to slap him or something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

  39. Not good, just woke up and first thing I read is this… I don’t get it… do I have the will to try again later..not sure.

Though I did understand he can sleep with dragons like Root and Tomoe and have a child with them. Honestly I want this, mini Tomoe’s running wild everywhere.

The question remains, if dragons are okay, what about spiders…

  40. Thnx for the chappy~ Nanodesu~

Being immortal or living a very long life would be great and all, but unless you can stay as yourself living while seeing the people you know die and pass away… Immortality would just be a curse.

    1. Treat it like living all your life on the internet, the friends you have there are shallow relationships, easily forgotten and readily replaced. As for more physical needs the oldest profession, paying for sex, no matter the world or era will likely always exist.

If wondering about family, even in a normal life span, I’ve already come to want little to nothing to do with such relationships. Such troublesome burdensome obligatory connection due to blood ties, I’ve had enough of. To be free of it would be liberating to an extreme

      1. The difference is more than that.

If one is comparing it to a character in a game, let’s say WoW, it is the wrong relationship to compare.
If one is comparing to another player who they ‘married in-game’, perhaps that is closer.

Relationships are a funny thing. I met a fellow who is against police checking things. He ‘wants his privacy’ even though he is the one who looks threatening.
But do you want to have a ‘shallow’ check? “I see nothing on the guy.” Or do you want a better check “scan him, body check him.”
At the same time, the guy who made his clothes relied on the presence of protection from the police, the guy who helped make his car, the guy who made his camera, his phone, etc.

They say that money is one of the most shallow relationships in the world. Do you know anyone who is obsessed with it?

    2. That is most likely going to happen anyway.. You’re still going to see majority of your loved one pass away while being a mortal so becoming immortal wouldn’t change much in that regards.

  41. What if the reason isn’t handsome due to not actually the son of his parents?

But someone who is to take care of by his parents when they escape to the other world.

Well I guess we can be sure that the other male human is too greedy to the point of being blind and the another female human had a deep scar on her mental mind which heal due to Mio.

Honestly speaking, I really want to whack Makoto for just doing his pace but seeing how Roots spoke, I can let it slip and wait for the next chapters to see how it go.

Ps. Thanks for the chapters, Mr translator.

    1. Maybe after being on Earth for so long, Makoto’s parents magic power became smaller or something, so when Makoto was born, he was more of a human than a hyuman?

      1. I kind of remember that part of the Goddesss’ blessing gave the Hyumans their beauty or some of it. Makotos older sister still had some of the Blessing when she was born, Makoto had none and the younger sister just inherited her parents good looks(got lucky). Its possible that Makotos looks is from a earlier point in the bloodline and it was not supressed by the Blessing when he was concieved.

I can totally seeing that Bug making a Blessing that messes with the randomness of genetics to make sure all the children born fit her taste in appearance.

  42. Thanks for the chapter. It was a good one with a lot of information.

“” This would probably translate as “I think the line where it was no longer understandable was at several minutes in” or “I think the line where i could not longer understand was a couple minutes in”

One of the definitions of “遅れる” is to fall behind or be late so he fell behind in his understanding and could not catch up. Like when you are copying what the teacher is writting on the blackboard and they go and erase it when you are about half done. You now have no reasonable way to catch up and understand what is going on. Makoto should have asked Root to stop and explain the part when he started to have trouble but with the way Root talks he probably was machinegun speaking as he wrote it all out and overwhelmed Makoto.

Its possible that Makoto could have understood it better if he knew that the system being explained assumes the presence of both magic and science in one system, instead he learned that afterward and has no way to go back to the begining and consider the explination again with that knowledge.

If he wants to know about world travel he could also ask Mio about it. She seems to have had the ability to travel between worlds at will for a long, LONG time. She was not a native of the Goddesss’ world and instead arrived from somewhere else. She even had the ability to rip open the border between that world and Aosora when she was chasing Tomoe.

    1. Hmm seems my paste was undone. The first part was referring to this:

“No, it will probably be the same. *I think the line I don’t understand is just several minutes late*. I can understand that it was incredibly advanced talk, so I would be happy if you were to answer my questions concisely” (Makoto)

The area between the double quotes at the beginning of the previous post should have had “” between them.

  43. For the title, wouldn’t “Tomoe’s distress” sound better? or maybe lament… I can’t help but feel that “grieves” sounds wrong somehow.

    1. She is grieving for the end of her time together with Makoto, since she knows that it will come. Distress and Lament have a different flavor to them and don’t really fit. After his passing she would probably lament and grieve and would be experiencing distress in both cases.

      1. Then maybe sorrow? I am not saying that grieves is wrong in it’s meaning, but how it sounds in a two word sentence. It just feels akward to me. Can’t help it. ~.~

  44. Thank you ~~~
I sorta see it coming… All these emotions, conflicts, but I think that if there aren’t such a chapter in this novel I will be a bit disappointed. Of course, I’m not disappointed, I just hope that no matter at the end Makoto can kick the ass of that goddess!

  45. So, what was Mio warning Tomoe about?
Just against her probable sexual assault, or was it something deeper??

    1. Probably the sexual assault. Tomoe is filled with anxiety that her world will go back to being grey and lifeless and there is a chance for it to retain color if she has Makotos decendents around. Mio is giving her the warning because they agreed that Mio is the one that gets to assault Makoto first.

      1. I think it’s more likely she was warning her about purposely doing something that could be the “Trigger” Root was talking about. Root said it would be dangerous if he is rushed into his growth. I don’t think Mio heard what he said, but her instincts can be scary sharp at times.

  46. Thanks 4 the chapter!

I imagined Root explanation scene as Hawking explaining quantum physics to a kindergartener (Mio), an elementary schooler (Makoto), and a high schooler (Tomoe).

  47. Thanks for this cahpter all wokers and memmbers os this project and take care of yourselfs.
For a moment i see a death flag something will the people of Asora , become enemy of the world or the scene of Atlas death in Tate no yusha who give Naofume he shield of compasion , shield f**k the heaven ,f**k the world ( obs: SORRY FOR SPOILER )

  48. But, is makoto a human? Or a Hyuman? Please answer me for the sake of all the non-hyuman Heroine (Tomoe, Mio, etc) happy ending.

  49. And thus Root basically confirms what I’ve been thinking from the beginning: Makoto has the potential to ascend to being a creation god.

Tomoe, I wouldn’t worry about outliving him. I would worry about him rising to heights you can’t reach. While seemingly impossible right now, seeing how dependent she is on him, her becoming useless to Makoto would be far more devastating than him dying.

Honestly, this is one of the few areas I think Shield Hero got right. By the time he is done in this world, he won’t fit into any world, least of all his original one.

  50. I guess i missed it………everybody in the comments was talking about zomg de feelz train…but honestly to me i didnt see anything new feels wise……we’ve known for a long long long long time tomoe loved master suckontoes…….hell if anything im really worried about this series doing anything now…….since tomoe has some wish about him remaining the same and never growing……sadly when i started this i thought it was a revenge harem type story…..but all ive gotten is a im scared emotionally dense an no self confidence kun…..type story…..getting harder an harder with each chapter to relate to this MC anymore

    1. Then read wu xia novels, or drop it, this chapter is showing/foreshadowing change to makotos character or possibly how he will act in the future as he found out no way of making it back to his home world so his mentality is going to change meaning more interest in makoto as he begins to change himself while still trying to keep his morals from his previous world.

  51. Honestly this chapter had a lot of thought and emotions in it.

For example the future of Makoto and Co. I would personally love to see how Makoto manages to extend his life as much as he wants, thanks to his endless magic power, and he finds an end that he’s happy with. Though there’s always the chance that he doesn’t extend his life, dying early, leaving Mio and Tomoe behind..
The subject matter of Makoto still being stuck in his previous worlds mindset was also brought out and talked about.. That’s also extremely interesting to see being pointed out, and I can’t help but wonder if what Root said was actual foreshadowing of Makoto moving between worlds?

The author talking about all of those subjects shows that he’s extremely well informed of the characters and settings he has created in the background (The type of character Makoto is, etc.) and the fact that the author is in full control of the story, will only make me look forward to how he’ll continue the story!

  52. thanks reigo-san for the chapter.

when I was reading the raws, I was unsure about the making baby part.
root said received from a male. root mentioning about having relationship between males gave me goosebumps. lol.

    1. ah. also about this part “But instead of an adventure that follows a spider’s thread, I prefer the soft people like you guys”

Since root was describing makoto, I thought it was translated to “But instead of an adventure that follows a spider’s thread, he is too kind to unable to forsake you guys”

I think it had more impact as it shown how makoto was really kind. I may have mistranslated though.

  53. He just needs to boost his magic power a bunch and then sort of turn into a god.

Then he’d probably be able to live forever and have a bunch of hot chicks for a harem, plus teleport back and forth as much as he wants.

    That would be legit.

  54. Thanks for the chapter!

Ahh, the lament of all long-lived races, how poignant. And the despair, sorrow and glory of mixed-race relationships.

But Tomoe and co. need not worry, for Makoto is destined for far greater things than just a Raiju life.

  55. honestly we as readers shouldn’t really be worried about his lifespan
with his magic power increasing at a retarded pace he will eventually become magic itself and discard that human body, becoming that ridiculous existence that root gave as an example, one that surpasses the Gods

  56. “We are unable to make babies with hyumans, however, if it is a human, we can”
aw~. makoto is a hyuman after all. well, at least no need to worry about condom and stuff =~=

      1. Holy shit you just found a loop hole, maybe because since his sisters are beauty’s and he is a normal looking guy doesn’t that mean he might be adopted? If so then wow…his parents are sort of dicks for doing that. But this is a if…

      2. It’s stated in the Tsukiyomi pov chapter that Makoto is their child and was brought to our earth after being born as a hyumen. Of course, we don’t know whether you need to be born human or you can become human by living on earth.

  57. Woooow, that was deep… thx for the chapter.

P.S. How about no longer being a human, becoming something else? If he can get Tomoe’s abilities… he might be able to “rebirth” himself like superior dragons do?

  58. Well guys, this is the end to a truly wonderful part of the story. Now you all see how Root became one of my favorite characters, just like how I seen it even better with Reigo-senpai’s translation. Don’t worry though, there is more excitement to come. Especially after the next four chapters. However… Spoiler-san cannot say too much, Truck-kun and all.

    1. I dont really hate Root but the form how he(I think more that is he so :v) contact with Makoto because he is interesting, give me a feeling of despise him for that and his personality of a bitch/gigolo(I dont like it). I ONLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT WILL BE ROOT TO MAKOTO? (I am in team mio and tomoe and posibly kohai-chan :v)

      1. How else do you expect an immortal dragon that’s been actively involved with the world to act? Especially if these dragons really see the world as dull and gray usually. If I’m right, the reason Tomoe was just staying in the wastelands, doing nothing but sleeping, was because she couldn’t see a reason to do anything. And the only reason Root remains active in the world is on the off chance that he manages to meet someone who brings color back into his world and breaks the monotony.

      2. I think I can say this much without risk of being run over by Truck-kun, Root will both be a good ally and somewhat annoying friend at times.

    2. Yeah, better not risk it. Between Nepus and Truck-kun, I can’t imagine what your medical bills look like, not to mention the insurance rates.😨😝

  59. Fuck these feels. 😢 I didn’t sign up for a ride on the feels train! Why are we going on this thing?!😖 I’m sorry it just hurt. 😭Thanks for the chapter.

  60. i find it funny how everyone but the goddess realises just how much power he has, if she knew she was playing with fire she would prob try to either suck up to him or try to kill him, since killing him is unlikely tho it would be interesting.

    1. I doubt he will surpass the originator of his power, though, aka the Japanese God of the Moon who has stated he is not as powerful or as important as his brothers and sisters from Japanese mythology.

If Makoto had to fight a proper God of War or someone like Shiva, he would be toast since those two are very experienced in God Slaying.

If she wants to kill him, she will have to find gods or beasts specialized in killing gods.

      1. His magic power didn’t come from the moon god. His area of effect power did but his magic came from his archery, therefore he could easily surpass gods higher than that.

      2. His magic power did come from the Moon God. The Moon God gave all his power that he is forced to sleep for a hundred years due to giving MC all his power which is why he said that he doubts he will meet MC again after being forced to go to sleep to regain back the magic power he gave MC.

His magic power doesn’t come from his archery alone. If Moon God never gave MC his power, archery would not have helped MC at all.

The archery leveling up is connected to Moon God’s power.

    1. I think Root has basically supported or stood by the humans who tried to lengthen their own lifespans rather than she directly leading it. Just a guess from his/her personality.

      1. Its possible that the people that extended their lives over 200 years started to have mental slips and breakdowns. At that point they would start losing loved ones and acquatices to time. Unless they were able to adapt like Root has their mind might go.

There are more then a few stories that refer to immortality as a curse, not a blessing.

      2. Unless your loved ones are immortal as well, it is more of a curse. Even with your loved ones, more than a few centuries might be unbearable. Unless of course, you manage to attain the mindset of a god. But that can cause extreme behavioral changes. Including an extreme callousness and what most would call inhumanity. Most of the stories I’ve heard of that included liches made me think that’s about how anyone would act if they manage to get immortality and lived long enough.
