Chapter 49: The wasteland’s flower, the town’s flower

The ambrosia was certainly growing in the wasteland.

That’s why I had Mio and a number of others search for it, with a few days passing, they found it.

Without disturbing the area where the plant was growing, I took a few of them back. When I asked Mio who was the one in charge of them, she pointed at the plants.

“I asked these children directly. We properly talked out that there won’t be any problems with their propagation-desu wa” (Mio)

These children?

In this world plants can talk too huh. Fumu, this was a blind spot.

“So Mio can talk with plants huh. Alchemy, curing, you really have too many hidden specialties” (Makoto)

It’s to the point that I might mistake her for a surprise box*. <TN: or Jack in the box, but not sure if that’s accurate>

“Even if I say that I can speak with them, it’s not like I can speak with them clearly. We can exchange our intentions” (Mio)

“And? Will it be able to take root here?” (Makoto)

“We will know that from now on. If it’s no good, we can bring them back to their original place and have Tomoe-san create a barrier” (Mio)

If hyumans find them, they would be taken out by the root and they would perish after all, is what she added.

I think so too. Mio, you really are growing up! I am truly happy!

“However, Waka-sama, there is one problem. No, even if I call it a problem, it’s just a petty thing though” (Mio)

“What?” (Makoto)

Right now it looks like things are proceeding smoothly though.

“It may be self-proclaimed, but there are actually people protecting the ambrosia. This time we took it without telling them, however, I think it would be better to explain them at a later time or it will become troublesome” (Mio)

“… People protecting it?” (Makoto)

I see. If that’s the case, they would certainly turn to search for the one responsible. Because depending on their actions, it could turn into Tsige knowing the location of the ambrosia after all.

If handled poorly, it could even turn into a war between this forest people and Tsige.

That’s no good.

“Yeah, judging by the trace, I think that they are from a fairy race. A serious and hard headed race that doesn’t listen to other people’s situation. I don’t know if they will seriously listen to us even if we talk with them” (Mio)

“But if we have the consent of the plants themselves, it shouldn’t become a serious issue, right?” (Makoto)

“No, as I stated previously, it is self-proclaimed-na no desu. As they don’t seem to have any methods to exchange their intentions with these children. They just look over the important plants, and are protecting them, is how it most likely goes” (Mio)

… As expected, speaking with plants must be a pretty rare skill. The fairy race looks like the type that would be able to talk with trees and grass, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Finding a plant that is on the verge of extinction and after that we protect it and look after it. We have consent and moreover, we are able to sympathize with them.

Fairies, fairies huh. Pixies, dryads, if she is saying that they are serious and hard headed, they could even be knockers. If it’s a dryad, it would be the appearance of the first one in my conquest strike zone.

The people of Tsige are just way too beautiful that I can’t get my hands on them you know~. I’m a good for nothing after all. On top of that, leaving aside the merchants, the adventurers are the problem. From neck to bottom they are so exposed that one has to look twice.

It’s to the level that even at great subcultural events it would be totally out, a cosplay that would leave you with a ghastly pale look. For women it was poison to the eye and for men it caused you to wanna puke. Either of them made you question their sanity.

One time, there was a woman that her upper half was practically leaves, there was one who only had a small cloth wrapped around her chest. Moreover, most of them had the lower half dressed as Arabia girls, the order is completely reversed~! Is what I wanted to tsukkomi.

There are people that have real moving beast ears and elves that have unbelievably slim bodies, and it’s also filled with various race beauties that fulfill all types of tastes walking around. Even the normal beauties are walking with radical attires.

MO.RE.O.VER!

Because of my two followers’ high level (I am completely sure this is the reason!), there have been a number of women that have tried seducing me lately!

When I return to Asora, leaving aside Tomoe, Mio looks at me with an aroused face (it’s probably not my imagination) and there are times when she comes to my room uninvited. Geez, it’s already tiring. Seriously tiring. It’s an important thing so I said… meh, I don’t care anymore. That’s how tired I am.

Being trapped in a trauma-like experience with a love confession and become an adult in one go. Losing my gas in a lot of meanings and becoming a sage.

Yeah, there was a time when I walked to the red-light district filled with brothels.

That was a mistake. I don’t even want to remember it.

I was forcefully returned by Tomoe and Mio, and they made a big uproar about who I should embrace.  When they began undressing, I silently tried to get out of there, but I was stopped by a pinkish mist that looked like it would not be good for my body and a sticky spider web.

Even though I was thinking about paying to graduate from my cherry status with no strings attached. To embrace the two that are like relatives, for it to enter that kind of relationship, I honestly felt like it was close to a taboo. Tomoe and Mio are way too close. They cause me so many problems that I feel like they are troublesome sisters.

Even though they are my companions, followers, our relationship is more close and profound.

In terms of acquaintances, I have Toa-san that looks exactly like my kohai, and with just that it makes my stomach churn. Even if I lose my reasoning to the point that I would attack any woman that crosses my path, I probably wouldn’t attack Toa-san.

Honestly, if a woman that looks like Higashi appears as well, I am sure that I would raise a canopy in Asora and become a hikikomori*! <TN: shut-in>

Right now, there isn’t anyone that I would like to connect my body with. It hurts my heart. It may have been a different story if Tomoe and Mio had separated from me and mobilized by themselves.

Oh, let’s leave my sex circumstances for now. So I have to give my greetings to the fairies that are supposed to be overlooking the ambrosia, right? Understood.

“Well, it’s not like they are bad guys. At any rate, we should meet them and have a talk” (Makoto)

“Won’t it cause troubles to Waka-sama?” (Mio)

“I don’t mind” (Makoto)

“No way~ leave it to me. (Maybe I should have just searched for them and ate them. For them to take the time of Waka-sama, such an honor)” (Mio)

What, just now, did I hear an incredibly dangerous thought? No, I shouldn’t be able to hear thoughts. Then what is it?

It must be that. It’s my instincts telling me that leaving this to Mio is dangerous. No doubt about it.

“Mio, isn’t it good to walk out together once in a while?” (Makoto)

“!! Together?!” (Mio)

“Yeah, yeah, together” (Makoto)

“Yeah, I will go! Going out huh*!” (Mio) <いかいでか> <TN: she uses a jargon I don’t understand>

Are you a rascal? What kind of tension is that?

So, the fairy race huh. What kind of race will they be?

… It would be nice if they have a big body and have a maid disposition, furthermore an Ane-sama* type. <TN: older sis>

My followers are truly filled with freedom only.

If there is an Ane-sama type, I would welcome her with open arms.

No, more importantly.

… At this occasion, it would be fine if I put the Ane-sama type as the runner-up condition.

Not people like Tomoe and Mio that put me as a symbol of adoration, an existence that becomes the counter of those two, I am super looking for someone like that.

Author Note:

Mio is, so to speak, dumb.

That Makoto can’t leisurely put her hands on her is because, saying it bluntly, he is a good for nothing.

But because she is there, the women around him can’t put a hand on him as well (because she would get in the way). Being blocked, Makoto is in an edgy state that would make him explode at any moment. The person himself doesn’t notice yet that he is being cornered to that extent, and the dangerous gauge is just slowly filling up.

Well, he is a teenager protagonist. In a not so distant future.

The development isn’t that fast so in a story sense, it may be distant though. ^^;

“Are we really leaving the rape part with Tomoe and Mio like that?! I want to know more damn it!” – Thoughts of a sad adult

Okay, let me explain. They couldn’t rape him xD. The author himself is telling us that he is in a dangerous state where he is being cockblocked. So I am sure he hasn’t done it yet.

  1. Not so far in the future, son of a bitch, I have to wait more that 3 years (don’t remember the exact number) until that point, what a bastard. Putting aside the shitty author, fairies huh, I honestly don’t remember them, maybe slightly now that this is happening, but not sure.

  2. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
    ——————————————————————————————————————
The author note is a lie.
    ——————————————————————————————————————-

  3. Reading this now shows how the author changed his plans for Makoto. Spoiler alert!
A hundred chapters later and there has been no deDTing, no development, no nothing and the whole idea has been thrown out the window. No edginess, no urges, and no jumping random women who are all bishoujo. Well, there’s the perverted dragon, but that doesn’t count. If you don’t go back to read this again, it’s easy to forget, but this is quite disappointing. And the number going after him honestly has increased.

  4. So the author is hinting that Makoto and Mio are going to eventually have sex? That would be …original, serioulsy, being Makoto the iiiiidiot he is about women, and that tsun dere personality of his, I thought he would turn into the shounen101 template of a character when it comes to love.

Also calling hos Mio and Tomoe are “cockblocking” him in a sense? This guy need to man up. He has two beauties in heat for him and all he cares is “searching for the apropriate partner”. Let me remind you, he isn’t precisely the most desirable male in that world lol also when a guy is horny he doesn’t “think” that much. Is he an eunuch? lol

    Thanks for the chapter!

  5. I’m glad the author acknowledged the situation, rather than letting the story become a shitty harem with a permanently cockblocked/wimpy protagonist.

  6. “Moreover, most of them had the lower half dressed as Arabia girls, the order is completely reversed~”

Wow , do people from non Arab countries believe that that is how Arab women dress?… a bit racist don’t you think? The only ones who dress like that are belly dancers who exist mostly in some parts of Lebanon and Egypt and they are considered only a little bit better than prostitutes or exotic dancers and as common as them .

  7. This is really curious.

So there’s this chapter where Makoto talks about not having anyone appropriate for a sexual relationship exactly after an extremely uncommon chapter narrated by a never-before-mentioned female adventurer, is it?

It sounds like we’re seeing that literary device where we first met the solution, and now we’re meeting the problem…

  8. Well personally I don’t think Makoto have any chance to get rid of the word DT as stated in the last chapter, whenever a women get close to him, Tomoe and Mio will “take” him away….
I think the next harem character is either the one who looks like Higashi or the girl from last chapter….
    Thanks for the chapter, Rei!

    1. Who’s Higashi? That name was mentioned in the chapter… but I have no idea who that’s referencing. I tried looking it up on google, but I wasn’t able to find anything.

        1. I had forgotten since it had been a long time since i read the first few chapters. I used to be caught up when the chapters were only up to the end of volume 1 but got busy with stuff and only returned to the series recently. As such, I only read the manga chapters this time and continued from there on this site… thing is… I had forgotten about a major difference between the manga adaptation and the novel… Earlier today, I read the first few chapters of the novel again and realized that.

Apparently, when Tomoe, back when she was still known as Shin/Shen, trapped Makoto and showed him illusions while looking at his memory… well, in the manga, we only seen one confession(the one fro Hasegawa)… but in the novel, we see two different confessions. Higashi(full name being Higashi Azuma, the beautiful captain of the Archery club), also confessed to the mc a bit after Hasegawa did. … And somehow, this was skipped in the manga adaptation.

So the “mystery” of who Higashi is has been solved, since it was only a “mystery” because I half-assed things, not wanting to read the early chapters again… lol at me.

    1. I once went searching about this before, and found surprising answers. It was a lot deeper than I initially thought. To begin with, being able to resist the temptations is consider a good thing. It’s one of those cultural things. After that. It’s relate-able to the Japanese men. In the past 20ish year. They have seen a great shift in how men and women operate with one another. The women have become more aggressive (When women being more passive was considered a more admirable aspect), and the men have began becoming more open about their feelings. This is where the problem collides. The roles are essentially shifting, with men becoming what has been deemed as “grass eaters” while women are being consider un-lady like. Women feel that the men who are more open with their feelings aren’t real men. In the west we call them metro-sexuals. You know the guys who spend alot of time focusing on their appearance and doing things typical thought of as girly. They also don’t want to go down the same route as their grandfathers. Working at a company you hate, settling down early and having kids. None of that appeals to them, with women on the other hand doing more sports, and entering the company life style in numbers unseen before. So basically both sides have become more active outside of traditional roles, but both sides find the new versions of each other unappealing. The couples that do get together often don’t have enough time to be together. Let alone raise a family. This is actually one of the reasons that the Sim games in Japan are so popular. It reminds them of a time when things weren’t so difficult and were more innocent. It’s became a big deal, because men are stepping down from society and seeking comfort in the virtual world, and the women are holding high standards that are too much for the average man to handle. If you want to see what it was like for someone on the western side getting caught in that same cycle. You should look up Gaijin Goomba. Great guy, and he tells the story of what happen to him during some of his darkest hours of being alone in Japan. Hope this brings some insight on why so many of these characters are written to be well. Kinda pathetic in the western world.

  9. So no one has mentioned this yet. So I will. Aren’t all 3 of them virgins? As far as we know. None of them have ever known the touch of the opposite sex. In Mio’s case she ate literally everything. So while she knows the taste of a man. She doesn’t know the touch. Our favorite dragon lady Tomoe doesn’t seem to have ever had a lover. At the very lest it seems to be have been so long ago that I question if she even remembers what that persons face would look like, and Waka is Waka lol. Now add in the crazy amount of strength involved. CAN they even have sex with other people? Sure they can control themselves, but what happens when they do more than slow sex? We are talking about ppl that are Dragon Ball levels of power, and they haven’t exactly had years of restraint. There won’t be a single resident that won’t be able to tell when they are going at it. Shaking the whole damn town xD

  10. Well, I can see why they keep cock blocking him, they saw him first. For some “harlot” to sneak up and take him, they won’t stand for it. It’s like in earlier chapters when those two argued on how far they would go for him, they even said that if it were his wish that they would do him. So yeah, they won’t let any other girls get their hands on him because in their eyes, they are pretty much his wives.

  11. He has his sexual urge, that’s good, author is ok with the mc losing his DT*(doutei/virgin) card.

IMO, he is thinking that he isn’t good enough, the world he currently lives in doesn’t have average-to-ugly looking people, only Ikemen and Bishoujo.

And author-san, don’t make us wait long.

    Thanks for the flower.

  12. just a little bit more before he blows…shouldn’t have used ‘blow’ there probably, but i’m rolling with it

    thanks for the chapter

  13. > お金で後腐れなくチェリー卒業しようと思っただけなのに

Even though I only thinking about paying to graduate from my cherry status with no strings attached.

  14. Makoto thinking of Tomoe & Mio as siblings wasn’t really that shocking to me.

What was shocking to me was
“No way~ leave it to me. (Maybe I should have just searched for them and ate them. For them to take the time of Waka-sama, such an honor)” (Mio)
Even though it shouldn’t have since it’s Mio…

  15. Thanks 4 the chapter!

Wow, Tomoe and Mio didn’t get friendzoned, but siblingzoned huh.
Unless Makoto is into incest or they drugged him, they have no chance.

    1. I doubt he’s into that sort of stuff, he seemed to have a normal relationship with his own actual sisters

Personally I hope this doesn’t turn into some crazy lewd harem. I like Makato when he’s trying to just get by in life without drawing too much attention

  16. Chapter 49: The wasteland’s flower, the town’s flowerhe
I’m confused about the chapter title, is it “town’s flowerhe” or “town’s flower”?

  17. lol
been waiting for tomoe and mio to make a move on him. hope it will be soon~
and why is he avoiding their advance? though I do understand that they are like his sisters? but, lol. I just can’t understand him. maybe he is being a virgin for far too long, that makes him avoid their advance. lol
    anyway, thanks for the Chapter!

    1. Not to mention the pact they have probably adds some weird mental problems. Makoto is looking for a one night stand, not a relationship which is what comes with Mio and Tomoe or anyone he knows personally

    2. from makoto’s thoughts, sounds like a combination of seeing them as being close in a family-like sense that makes sexual thoughts ankward, and of them basically being idiots to the point it kills his libido.

    1. from what I understand in above chapter.
No, he didn’t. he is still a virgin.
he is still refusing their advance. lol

  18. Thanks for the chapter 😀
Why do i have a feeling they will try to do something stupid like attacking him or threatening him and then they find out just how strong he really is and then decide to go to his world to live lol

      1. cant really be help … how do you walk forward? either move the left leg or the right leg… there not much you can change !!!
